The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant

- typically more dynamic and what i would describe as a “scratchy” artstyle

Band of Brothers Ages: IRL vs. Actors

Did you know that according to a 1947 study, almost half the men who served in WWII were still under age 26 by the end of the war?

What this is : A (very long) post comparing the ages of the actors in Band of Brothers vs. the IRL figures they are portraying.

Background: Did I need to do this? No. Did anyone ask for this? Also no. Did I do it anyway? Yes.

Disclaimers: This is SUPER approximate for the most part. I based IRL ages off of D-Day unless otherwise noted, and actor ages off of January 1, 2000, the year filming took place (the latter is where the most variation will be because I didn't try to figure out what month filming started). I also didn't fact-check birthdays beyond googling. Most are sourced from the Band of Brothers and Military Wikis on fandom.com, Wikipedia, and IMDb.

I broke them up into rough categories, which are, again, approximate. I know I often forget how young the real life people were here, and this was a good reminder of that. I also found it interesting to see which actors were actually younger than their roles!

Here's my first playlist for 2024, it's not gonna be a monthly thing, just once i have 40 tracks i like, then i will share it. So could be one or two or even three in one month and other months maybe none, this is why it's numbered. I am already close to No 2 being finished, cover done, just need to cut down to 40 tracks from the 80+ tracks in the provisional draft playlist. So could share this next week!! look this doesn’t apply for all christians AT ALL but some of us be slandering gay people with the bible as if the bible literally doesn’t tell us to:

-love everyone (matthew 5:44, john 13:34-35, 1 peter 2:17, 1 peter 4:8)

-it’s not our place to judge people (john 8:7, matthew 7:1, john 8:15, 1 corinthians 4:5)

-we’ve all sinned (romans 3:23, psalm 106:6)

honorable mentions include

-do not kick a relative (especially your child) out for ANY reason (1 timothy 5:8)

-all sins are forgiven (mark 3:28)

-the study about leviticus 18:22 being about pedophillia and not homosexuality due to an error in translation. there's a lot of debate about this, and so i’m not putting it as actual evidence, but it’s worth checking out.

-if some christians hate members of the LGBTQ+ community because they’re sinning, why don’t we hate liars like that? cheaters? divorcees? i’m not saying we should start, but if those sins aren’t being viewed as taboo, why are gay/trans people any different?

i’m bisexual. i’m also christian. i see both sides of this issue. but nowhere, and i mean nowhere in the bible does it encourage hate crimes, slander, and flat-out bullying towards gay people. and i don’t know very many christians who could endorse it while sticking to the word of God. it’s contradictory, babes.

What Does It Mean to Forgive?

Matthew 18:15–20 gives us the pattern we should follow when someone has sinned against us, but what does it mean to forgive in the first place? For an answer, let us look to God the Father, the One who has perfectly modeled forgiveness for us. When God forgives us, He no longer holds our sins against us. He no longer condemns us. Our fellowship with Him is no longer disrupted. This is because Jesus Christ has suffered sin’s full penalty for all those who trust in Him.

We forgive others because God has forgiven us. Jesus taught us to pray to the Father, “Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors” (Matt. 6:12). Like God, to forgive someone means to no longer hold sin against the person who has sinned against you. When we forgive someone, we are once again in a positive relationship with them.

Forgiving someone, however, does not mean that the offender experiences no consequences for his or her actions. When grievous harm is done, consequences ensue. We see this in our relationship with God. If, for example, we were to steal something, the Lord will forgive us if we repent. But that does not mean we will not have to suffer criminal punishment or pay back the person from whom we stole. God forgave David for his sin with Bathsheba, but that sin had severe consequences that followed him the rest of his life in the form of family turmoil (see 2 Samuel). We can and must forgive those who have sinned against us, but when criminal behavior is involved in the sin, it should be reported to the civil authorities, whom God gave to protect us from evildoers (Rom. 13:1–7).

Someone who comes to you and asks for forgiveness is showing a sign of repentance. We should never withhold forgiveness from someone who asks for it from us (see Matt. 18:21, 22; Luke 17:3). If we do not forgive someone who asks, we do not display the richness of God’s mercy to us in Jesus Christ (see Matt. 18:23–35).

Sin is a sad reality of life in a fallen world, and it has major consequences. Jesus Christ willingly gave His life for our sins. Our forgiveness came at an unimaginable price. The beauty of the Christian life is that we can forgive others in a way that God has forgiven us.
