Lowell Mather x Fem Reader- "Drop Dead Legs"
This is someone I've almost never written about, but I have mentioned the actor who plays him in a few of my fanfics...
I hope I haven't titled a fanfic this already!
______________________________________________________________
On the sitcom "Wings", it was said that one of the characters from the show---Lowell Mather---preferred women's legs (although he was also apparently sexually aroused by women's chest hair).
There are many magazines out there devoted into fetishing women's legs.
On a "Wings" episode that aired in the 1990's, Lowell was sitting in a chair in his office reading a porn magazine about women's legs.
During that episode, Lowell had long hair when he looked his best.
As he sat in that chair, he was staring at a centerfold in that magazine of you.
You were on the cover of that issue where your long legs were bare and on display.
The centerfold of you in that issue had a provocative, pornographic cheesecake pinup of you that displayed your long, beautiful, flawless legs with no scars, scabs or hair on them.
Although, your legs looked flawless on the magazine's cover too.
While he looked and observed that centerfold of you and your legs, one of his hands reached down to his pants covered crotch, where his hand slowly rubbed his bulge.
He was forming an erection as he stared at your centerfold.
His hand was caressing the fabric covering his crotch.
Your centerfold was not shown on television for obvious reasons.
He could easily slip his hand under his pants to jerk his cock off.
His eyes were glued to your legs as well as the rest of your body.
He didn't just stare at your centerfold dangling out of the magazine issue, but also other images of you in that issue.

here’s a fan theory no one asked for but see if I care
okay so. I know exactly none of my mutuals care about the show Wings but tough. I have to get this off my chest because Lowell Mather is a precious bean that deserves justice and ain’t nobody else out here talking about this. so like. I firmly believe that even though he’s played as a “dumb” character and everyone treats him like one, he’s not dumb. No, Lowell acts much more like an autistic person than an uneducated one.
he can be very intelligent in certain ways. this does a lot towards making his character likable because he’s more than just a box of rocks with a pulse, he’s a very good mechanic with a big heart that occasionally misses the obvious or misinterprets his friends’ words. oh, and did I mention he’s an excellent cook?
basically every “dumb” thing he says boils down to him either A) not getting sarcasm, or B) misinterpreting euphemisms/phrases and taking them literally. like. watch any episode and this is very obvious. what is obvious to the others is not immediately obvious to him.
and then there’s the episode where he takes a girl on a date and instead of doing something that’s *objectively* nice, he takes her to the airplane hangar and spins her around on a forklift because that’s something he finds fun. which is adorable by the way 11/10 would be a phenomenal date.
then there’s the way he interacts at home when he’s living with the brothers… yes he cooks and does a lot for them but he is STRICT about the way he runs his kitchen. they MUST exercise manners. they MUST put the sponge away. they MUST keep their elbows off the table because that is the RULES. for example:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
(this also hints at smell/texture issues but we can also file that under “this is one of the rules of keeping a clean kitchen because that’s What You Should Do)
then there’s this sweet little gem I noticed just today.
this man completely nailed a feeling I’ve always had my entire life. and it hit home, I already related to him and viewed his character through an autistic lens but this kinda confirmed it. and then the sponge thing, of course.
……….but yeah lowell mather is a sweetie pie who’s just trying his best and I love him (and antonio). sorry for the wall of text but also not sorry because I needed to talk about this soooooo bad

The Burying Point, Charter Street Salem, Massachusetts
It may not be as beautiful or architecturally significant as Chestnut Street or Federal Street or even Washington Square. But tiny Charter Street, all of two blocks long, has enough history associated with it to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Charter Street was laid out in 1767 as a town street and ran between the town wharf on the South River at the foot of Market (now Central) Street and a cove in front of what is now Immaculate Conception Church. The portion east of Liberty Street was originally called Vine Street.
The street boasts the city’s oldest cemetery. In 1637 the town voted to set aside a point of land overlooking the South River as a burial ground. The site was probably already being used for that purpose. Historian Sidney Perley suggested that many of the settlers who succumbed in the great sicknesses of 1628 and 1629, including the wife of Gov. John Endicott, had been buried there.
In 1637 John Home was given permission to erect and operate a windmill in the Burying Point, and John Cromwell was later granted the right to graze cattle there. Eventually the riverbank on the southern end of the Burying Point filled with wharves and warehouses.
Additional land was acquired by the town in later years for cemetery expansion. The entrance was moved from Liberty Street to Charter Street when the latter came into existence in 1767.
Some of the more famous internees at the Burying Point are Richard More, a passenger on the original voyage of the Mayflower, and witch trial judges John Hathorne and Bartholomew Gedney. For some inexplicable reason Gedney’s name and that of Salem’s famous architect and woodcarver, Samuel McIntire, who was buried here in 1811, are not listed on the historic plaque at the entrance to the cemetery.
Simon Bradstreet, a Massachusetts governor who lived in Salem, is listed on that marker and his tomb is adorned with a bronze plaque in both Latin and English. Bradstreet’s family however, sold the family tomb in the early 1800s, and the governor’s remains were removed.
Another 17th century stone marks the grave of Nathaniel Mather, brother of the legendary Puritan divine and witchcraft expert Cotton Mather.
Nathaniel Hawthorne frequented the cemetery in his solitary rambles about Salem and used names he found on headstones in some of his writings. The most popular were his ancestor, John Hathorne, and Dr. Swinnerton. The Swinnerton name appears in “The House of the Seven Gables” and the author’s unfinished “Dolliver Romance.”
The cemetery itself is mentioned in Hawthorne’s “Dr. Grimshawe’s Secret,” as is the adjoining gray-shingled house at 53 Charter St. It was there in what is now called the Grimshawe House that Hawthorne met his future wife, Sophia, in 1837. The author had been invited to the Peabody home by the eldest of the three famous Peabody sisters, Elizabeth Palmer Peabody, who would later achieve fame as the mother of the American kindergarten movement.
Another caller at the house on Charter Street, the famed educator Horace Mann, would marry the third Peabody sister, Mary.
At the corner of Charter and Liberty Streets stands the Samuel Pickman house. In the early 1960s, after attending three lectures on Colonial architecture given by expert Abbott Lowell Cumins, Salem resident Elizabeth Reardon discovered this 17th century dwelling under a Victorian mansard roof.
The house may have been built as early as 1664 for Samuel Pickman, and is one of Salem’s oldest buildings. It was acquired in 1964 and partially restored by Historic Salem, Inc. When it became obvious that the building needed major structural work, Historic Salem sold the Pickman house to a private developer, who then completed the restoration. The building is now owned by the Peabody Essex Museum.
One significant piece of the street’s history is no longer extant: the original Salem Hospital complex. In 1874, Salem merchant-philanthropist John Bertram donated $25,000 and a mansion at 31 Charter St. toward the establishment of a hospital for the city. The hospital corporation was subsequently chartered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with James Curwen as president.
Salem Hospital opened for business on Oct. 1, 1874. The new medical facility occupied the western portion of the building, and the other half was leased to a tenant. The hospital had 12 beds and a medical staff of 13 doctors headed by David Coggin.
The new hospital grew in size and scope over the next decade, adding a maternity ward, an eye clinic, and a training school for nurses. A three-story wing was built onto the rear of the original structure in 1884, and a separate, free-standing maternity ward was added three years later. Gradually the hospital complex was expanded to include eight buildings located on Charter Street, both sides of Derby Street, and on Liberty Street.
Many of those buildings were destroyed or severely damaged during the Salem Fire of 1914. Shortly after the fire, a decision was made to move the facility to a site with more open space for future expansion and less noise and traffic. Salem Hospital remained on Charter Street until 1917, when its new complex on Highland Avenue was finally completed.

There are plenty of surface similarities between Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp A Butterfly,” and Eminem’s “The Marshall Mathers LP.” Here’s a short list:
Third studio album
Executively produced by Dr. Dre
Released on Aftermath Records
Grayscale cover art
Follow up to breakthrough release
Tour de Force of already immaculate lyrical skills.
On a deeper level, both albums are ostensibly about fame and its subsequent relationship with influence.
So why does Butterfly land in the big house while Marshall is left in the cold?
Putting aside how much more musically interesting I find Butterfly’s jazzy, dissonant, unpredictable production to Marshall’s 2000-era, sparse, radio friendly, hit-making beats AND putting aside how much more I like Kendrick’s application of vocab to Em’s (they are most definitely pulling from a similar amount of source material), it all comes down to blame.
There was a time in my life when The Ataris lyric “Why do I never seem to learn that love is wrong and girls are fucking evil!” was, embarrassingly, a bit of a creed. I flocked to music that projected outward and never turned the mirror on itself. Later, that magnet toward blaming others turned into a pull toward self-deprecation: Jessy Lacey screaming, “I never get anything right!” or Conor Oberst calling himself “a fucking rat.”
But I discovered something while listening to Sufjan Stevens’ “The Only Thing,” for the gazillionth time.  I’ve previously written about my difficulty with religion in music (especially within emo and post-hardcore) but how, with Sufjan, it never feels like he’s evangelizing because its all so personal. “The Only Thing,” finds him intensely questioning his faith, wanting so desperately to believe but terrified of what that belief means: “Should I tear my eyes out now? Everything I see returns to you somehow.” This isn’t blame, this isn’t deprecation, this is true internal struggle. It’s devastating, it’s relatable, it’s vulnerable, it’s cathartic and it makes unbelievably good music.
So back to Em and K. Em spends much of Marshall pushing buttons and making jabs but when it comes to his own fame and influence, he tells his listeners to leave him alone and to not take him so seriously; He is not the problem, you are. Kendrick, on the other hand, spends most of Butterfly conflicted both about his influence and about himself, journeying from “loving you is complicated,” to “I’m the biggest hypocrite of 2015,” and eventually, beautifully, redemptively to “I love myself.”
This difference is felt most in the albums’ most interesting and hidden similarity: the third verse of Em’s “Stan” and the latter half of Kendrick’s “u.” In both, the artists play clearly inebriated characters in highly emotional states. But while Em’s character is a fan, Kendrick is himself. Em uses this verse to prove to world how ridiculous it is for his fans to take his lyrics seriously (and to throw in some completely unnecessary homophobia) but Kendrick doesn’t view fame so selfishly or without consequence. Kendrick dives into his own failures as an artist, a celebrity, a brother, a son, a friend. It’s devastating, it’s relatable, it’s vulnerable, it’s cathartic. While Em unabashedly blames anyone he can, Kendrick struggles with where the blame lies.
It should come as little surprise then, that hidden in the sample credits for the track “Hood Politics,” is Sufjan Stevens’ “All For Myself.” That internal struggle is what truly differentiates Kendrick from Eminem. And while “The Marshall Mathers EP” may warrant some accolades for Em’s technical prowess and “don’t give a fuck” mentality, “To Pimp a Butterfly” is unbelievably good music.
What I listened to last week:
Top 100 contenders in bold.
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly: Also worth noting - I purchased this album alongside Sufjan’s “Carrie and Lowell,” and D’Angelo’s “Black Messiah.” All three albums have made it onto the Top 100 Contenders list. Well done 2015, well done. (I know, I know, “Black Messiah” was released in 2014 but it was the END of 2014 so give me some breathing room)
Beastie Boys - To the 5 Boroughs
The New Pornographers - Together
Eels - Tomorrow Morning: More so than anything else, I lament E’s lyrical downfall. Musically, this album has some high points but lyrically, it fails on nearly every level.
The Jayhawks - Tomorrow the Green Grass: Not including this one on the list sucked. More on that in the recap of the “T” albums.
Sense Field - Tonight and Forever
From Autumn to Ashes - Too Bad You’re Beautiful
Meat Puppets - Too High to Die: Totally surprised and throughly delighted by this gem. Also, I completely forgot about the 90′s hit “Backwater.” ALSO, this was one of the albums that compelled me to do this type of project - I had picked it up during one of my bargain bin binges but never listened to it.
Gob - Too Late...No Friends (PPP #77): I’d take Gob over Sum 41 in a Canadian pop-punk battle any day of the week.
System of a Down - Toxicity: I know many MANY people rank this album crazy high but I think it pales in comparison to their debut, lyrically and musically. Interesting note: I also find it less engaging even though it was clearly created to be more accessible.
Son Volt - Trace
Tracy Chapman - Tracy Chapman: See number 5.
The Vehicle Birth - Tragedy
Total albums listened to: 1,764
