How did Troy and Tyreen get their power but not their mother?
Possibly due to the fact that Leda was most likely a siren.
Okay, okay, hear me out. So sirens don’t really have an age cap, right? Anyone at any age can get these powers. It’s shown that (and known) that it can be any age because Angel gives her powers over to Tanis; and it’s sorta proven that if the powers are left to find a ‘host’ that it would prefer a child.
Already half disproved my point but whatever. So, anyway, why would these powers go to a small clump of forming cells over a proven female host? Because that woman was already a siren. Phase-leech has proven to be the only power that allows two siren abilities to coexist.
Therefore Leda had to have been a siren otherwise those powers would have gone to her. They couldn’t so it ensured (in some way) that they got a suitable human host.
Wait, are these powers sentient? I’ll have to think about that one.

ANCIENT WOMAN THUNDERDOME 2023: Official Bracket!!
Tumblr media
[image description: a bracket titled Ancient Woman Thunderdome 2023. it lists 32 matchups between 64 women. all matchups are listed below. end image description.]
we have our final matches! clytemnestra, medea, antigone, and penelope are our most suggested, with honorable mentions to electra, circe, helen, and atalanta. i've seeded according to how many times each one was suggested, with more popular candidates going against less popular in the first round. HOWEVER, this is not a popularity contest! this is WHO WOULD WIN IN A FIGHT. please vote accordingly, with consideration of physical strength, mental acuity, and magical ability.
the first round matches are as follows (note: where people suggested a group, ie. maenads, sirens, i'm acting as if one representative from that group is in the fight):
Clytemnestra vs. Niobe Electra vs. Iphis Chrysothemis vs. Cassiopeia Iphigenia vs. Semele Procne vs. Creusa Callisto vs. Europa Daphne vs. Lysistrata Philomela vs. Andromeda
Penelope vs. Antiope Atalanta vs. Stheno Dido vs. Lavinia Penthesilea vs. Nausicaä Camilla vs. Anna Briseis vs. Lesbia Agave vs. Chryseis Phaedra vs. Charybdis
Antigone vs. one of Hephaestus' "golden fembots" Helen vs. Deianeira Ariadne vs. Eurydice (from Antigone) Hecuba vs. Iambe Andromache vs. Echo Eurydice (Orpheus' love) vs. Psyche Ismene vs. Tiresias Jocasta vs. Scylla
Medea vs. a siren Circe vs. Cressida Cassandra vs. Leda Medusa vs. a maenad Hippolyta vs. Galatea Arachne vs. Pasiphae Pandora vs. Danae Io vs. Calypso
i'm hoping to start the matches next week. the first round will be four polls a day for eight days; polls will last for one day until we get to round four with eight competitors/four matchups (at which point the polls will last a week).

I’m so curious, do you have any hcs for Odysseus, Penelope, and Telemachus post-odyssey? I just love their little family so much, and like, the olive tree bed scene where Penelope tests him gets me EVERY time
SO MANY! They kind of get...dark though, because they're a LOT about his PTSD. There's PLENTY of Fluff in between but...I plan for it mostly to be about them all helping him with his PTSD. It's a lot of "Comfort" fics.
I plan for Odysseus to be restless and try to force himself to be normal. There are times when he'll be like "I'm going to go run around the island. I would like for you to come with" as being alone kind of stresses him out sometimes. Penelope and Telemachus usually go with him for RUNNING but he will walk with his dad :) It helps with his restlessness. and also just staying active. (especially as this was something OdyPen did often in their youth) It also is a way for him to reassure that "Hey, I'm not going to disappear on you. That's NOT what I want. I just need...release." basically. Fuck the Telegony
I actually have it where he doesn't tell Penelope about Circe and Calypso at first...It's something he's ashamed of and just...it's HARD for him. He's so focused on the fact that he's with Penelope and that's ALL he's wanted all these years. It's who he's longed for. I even have him make an Oath about how she's all he's wanted...He's not struck down...So that's true. It's why Penelope doesn't push too hard with asking at first because she knows him. Eventually, she has a moment of "Hey...I know it's probably painful...but you have to stop hiding this from me...I love you, you silly man. I know that you love me too...I just want to help."
He overhears Telemachus talk about Menelaus and he's happy they're well and that they're happy together. and Penelope mentions how "OFC they're well. They love each other and any good spouse would understand that when the gods are involved they have no choice" and Odysseus gets quiet as Telemachus rambles on and hides his face. He's just... so happy. Penelope would probably understand! Yet he still is afraid to share.
OdyPen had a conversation in their youth about how Tyndarius is such a good man for loving his children equally and understanding Leda didn't have a choice. Odysseus asks Penelope if she still thinks that. She's had an idea something happened and ofc she says yes, she still feels the same way. And he just cries into her chest. He doesn't spill everything yet. but it's a start :'D
He gets nightmares a lot. He tries and hides a lot from Telemachus (especially the Circe and Calypso stuff) because he wants to focus on being a DAD now.
(Ofc, I have it where Penelope invites Menelaus and Helen to Ithaca for Helen and Odysseus to talk about what THEY went through. And Penelope asking for advice from Menelaus...)
They all have "normalcy" eventually. But it's HARD. :') Love and patience help though.

[looks at mirror] Music, music... Music! [angelic choir starts playing]
And thus, I am summoned like Betelgeuse with my scroll of music recs. Are you ready for Dad Rock? Are you ready for Metal? Are you ready for my entire 500 song playlist of music? You are now :)
(This post is long. Like, really long. And I don't even have all 500 songs in here. My recommendations from my playlist are below the cut. If you'd rather just see all the songs in my playlist, you can find them here. I'll see you on the other side, soldier o7)
These are some songs that I listen to whenever I work out/go to the gym. Nothing like a bit of rage to get you through those reps:
Reapers - Muse The Handler - Muse Psycho - Muse Winter Rain - Sick Century Welcome To the Family - Avenge Sevenfold Enter Sandman - Metallica As Above So Below - Beyond the Breach In The End - Black Veil Brides Almost Easy - Avenged Sevenfold [Obligatory Slipknot and System of a Down mention here] Sun Killer - Spirit Box Rules of Nines - Spirit Box Blessed Be - Spirit Box Twilight Of The Thunder God - Amon Amarth Dethrone - Bad Omens Inspire the Liars - Dance Gavin Dance
If you like metal bands with female lead singers, I highly recommend Spirit Box. The lead has an absolutely angelic voice and the band itself is incredible.
If you like amazing electric guitar solos/sections then Muse (Specifically their songs Psycho and Reapers) is the band for you
For drums, Welcome To The Family has a sick drum solo at the beginning of the song. It's insane
Here's some songs with gorgeous Vocals/Instrumentals that blew my mind when I first heard them (and continue to blow my mind whenever I listen to them again):
The Parting Glass - The Choral Scholars Of University College Dublin This Is How It Feels - D4VD & Laufey The Rockrose And the Thistle - The Amazing Devil Out of North - Jesper Kyd Promise - Laufey Swan Upon Leda - Hozier Secret Worlds - The Amazing Devil Inkpot Gods - The Amazing Devil Requiem - Dies Irae
All of the Assassin's Creed: Valhalla soundtrack is absolutely gorgeous and I cannot recommend listening to it enough
The Amazing Devil is similarly incredible, check it out
Now for "oldies that you've definitely heard already but I like them so I'm putting them here anyway," enjoy:
I'm Alright - Kenny Loggins Heat Of the Moment - Asia Just Like Paradise - David Lee Roth God Gave Rock 'N' Roll To You II - Kiss Any Way You Want It - Journey Carry On Wayward Son - Kansas I Was Made For Lovin' You - Kiss You Give Love A Bad Name - Bon Jovi Livin' On A Prayer - Bon Jovi Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses Kiss On My List - Daryl Hall & John Oates The Gambler - Kenny Rodgers I'd Rather Be A Cowboy - John Denver Calypso - John Denver Make Your Own Kind Of Music - Mama Cass House Of The Rising Sun - The Animals What's New Pussycat? - Tom Jones That's life - Frank Sinatra Bad, Bad Leroy Brown - Frank Sinatra Vienna - Billy Joel Dust In the Wind - Kansas Leaving On A Jet Plane - John Denver 500 Miles - Peter, Paul, and Mary El Paso - Marty Robbins Private Eyes - Daryl Hall & John Oates American Pie - Don McLean The End of The World - Skeeter Davis Smoke Gets In Your Eyes - The Platters
TF2 has done irreparable damage to me because I can't listen to half of these songs without immediately thinking of one of the mercs (cough cough What's New Pussycat? cough cough Scout cough)
I don't have much else to say about these songs besides go listen to them if you haven't heard them already
And finally, songs that didn't fit into any of the above categories but I wanted to include them anyway:
Living Proof - Gregory Alan Isakov My Love, Mine All Mine - Mitski Dark, Dark, Dark - Gregory Alan Isakov Broken Coastline - Down Like Silver Southern Soldier - 2nd South Carolina String Band Dixie's Land - 2nd South Carolina String Band Bug Like and Angel - Mitski Dandelion Wine - Gregory Alan Isakov San Luis - Gregory Alan Isakov The Stable Song - Gregory Alan Isakov Amsterdam - Gregory Alan Isakov Any Will Wood Song Dream, Ivory - Dream, Ivory Any Phoebe Bridgers Song Any Hozier Song Wishing Well - The Oh Hellos Warm Glow - Hippo Campus
While these aren't all the songs I would recommend, they're all I'm going to put on this post. I know a lot of these songs are really popular, but I hope you end up finding a song you haven't heard before or one that you like :)))

MAIN VERSE;
My main verse is generally set about halfway through Borderlands 3. The Children Of The Vault have been an active cult for a few years now and the Calypsos are streaming on nearly every television and radio station on Pandora. The Twin Gods are a household name. Tyreen has just recently stolen the powers from local folk hero, the Firehawk, making her twice as powerful as before. Troy has even more recently stolen the powers from siren Maya, and is still learning what all of those powers entail and how to control them. He remains submissive to his sister, for now, but as he comes into his new powers they start to go to his head.
REAL WORLD VERSE;
Troy and Tyreen Calypso were born and raised deep in the Amazon rainforest to two lost adventurers, Typhon and Leda Deleon. After their mother's death, their father intended to keep them there for their entire lives, safe from the dangers of civilization.
At 16, the twins repaired the long rotting truck that had once left the Deleons stranded and left for the nearest town. From there, they fended for themselves, sneaking onto trains and buses and traveling the world, scamming and stealing to survive.
It wasn't long before they realized just how easy people were to manipulate; the twins started a cult. Lacking the magical abilities from canon, the twins turn to more mundane ways of stealing power from others. They begin manipulating, intimidating, and blackmailing high profile people across the globe. Next stop, world domination.
POST GAME VERSE;
Link to my post about it here. I'll type up something prettier soon.

Not Rhack Wednesdays On Thursday [26]
OnlyFans may be phasing out porn, but this is fandom, dammit! And the sexitiems will never die. insert long rant about how certain other social media sites allow all the violence in the world but heaven forbid anyone get naked the funny part is i had this discussion on discord with someone the other day and now this happens
Tumblr media
First orders of business:
@lackpassion who did our splash images, now has a Patreon and an Etsy freshly restocked with slasher pride. More goodies on the way!
Today’s Recs: ( 🎨 = art | ✍ = fic | 🤔 = thinks)
✍ A Song of Flynt & Sirens Chapter 6 by @wataredis [NSFW] Is not NSFW this week, but does include totally sweet BABY CALYPSO CONTENT WHICH MUST BE SEEN TO BE BELIEVED AWWWWW YES.
🎨 Moar, well, teenage twins by @xxrat-punkxx BABIESSSS ahem. I am an adult and I do not yell about cute things.
🎨 OMG @michellespenscratchz have you done with with my heart??? (Rhysa SFM art, smexy.)
✍ Is it Rhysha week all up in here, because @monday-headache has some cooking too according to this excerpt!
✍ The Edge of Chaos Chapter 11 by @raidbossmadi Oh maaaan this fic is getting to one of my favorite parts of the book! It was good in the movie too, but there's just something about Alan + kids that warms my heart in that 80s sitcom way.
✍ And I guess shit hit the fan in Sampaguita [NSFW] as brought to you by some asshole who sat on this plot twist for like a year.
If you’d like your work featured on Not Rhack Wednesdays On Thursday, the only requirement is that it not be Rhack (well, and you have to ask).  Calypso Twins angst is not required, but a plus.  Give me a jingle or @ me or whatever works for you.

Q: Do you think Typhon was an abusive father? He says he was a 'third rate dad' but doesnt explain why. Randy said he refused to touch Tyreen after Leda died. His reaction to killing his kids could just be bad writing. Troy said he thought he was a freak, but that could be Troy's insecurity. Our only evidence is what Typhon and the Twins say, but Typhon is suspicious already and the Twins are shown to be manipulative. Was Typhon a clueless father trying his best or an abusive asshat?
Hooo boy. Been sitting on this one a while. In we go.
Was Typhon DeLeon an abusive father: A nerd essay by me, cause I’m a sad fuck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah. He was. 100%. Absolutely.
Just not intentionally, and for reasons that were coming from good places. I can’t stand Typhon but I’m going to remain relatively unbiased in this bar insulting him as much as possible cause fuck Typhon. Eww.
Bl3 left us with shockingly little information to go on when it came to figuring out how all this went down, how Typhon’s upbringing or lack thereof of the Calypso Twins warped them into the broken monstrous Gods they became, and if he was actually really to blame or not.
We have four main players in this puzzle. Typhon, Troy, and Tyreen DeLeon, and Leda Calypso. One of these characters didn’t get a single line of dialogue and was reduced to being a fucktoy attached to a womb, so poor Leda is out of the equation.
We have a third party write up on Typhon released after the game containing a lot of content that was never in the game, including some of his logic behind the choices he made here.
And finally, we have the information given to us by the three remaining characters. Typhon, and the Calypso Twins.
Breaking this down further, we have two characters at odds with each other, Typhon and Tyreen.
Tyreen hates Typhon. Hates. It can’t be stressed enough that the only motivation the writers left in the game for poor Ty, was how much she hated her father. Tyreen however, is also a grade A dramaqueen and someone who I cannot bring myself to trust completely when it comes to her describing how Typh treated the twins. I am positive everything she says is based on a truth, but how much of it has been over exaggerated and built on after years of brooding and hatred is up to us to work out, and that’s quite hard to do.
Typhon on the other hand, is a grade A bullshitter. We learn this through his logs and through actually just *talking* to the vile little prick. He speaks in anecdotes, he relies on constantly retelling stories to communicate. I wouldn’t trust the little shit as far as I could throw him. He constantly exaggerates his accolades, his sexual prowess, likely how much his wife was infatuated with him, his skill in adventuring, everything, but he still confirms he was not a good father, so that really says a lot.
Finally, we have the only person I actually trust when it comes to their opinion on this. Finally, we have Troy.
Something I’ve noticed after chatting with friends about this and covering old content, is how little Troy Calypso ever seems to lie or bullshit. He is shockingly honest, it’s a real surprise compared to Tyreen. He’s truthful to the vault hunters, his emotions are pretty much worn on his sleeve around Ty, and even in dialogue with the likes of Katagawa he is direct and not nearly as “flowery” in his communication as she is.
He hates the majority of the COV followers and shows a complete lack of coddling them, and he does the same with the VH and raiders. He’s direct in his communication in general, especially when alone and out of persona.
Troy gives us more backstory about the twin’s family life than literally any other point in the game does, and he explains it genuinely, 1:1 and privately to the VH over echocom. He has no reason to lie. There is no gain in this for him, there is no grounds for me to think anything he said was false because lying in this situation wouldn’t match his established character.
Troy does not hate Typhon.
Troy did not want to leave Nekrotafeyo.
Troy did not want to leave his father.
The info Troy shares with us is that Typhon couldn’t let Ty out of his sight after Leda had her “accident”, and he was overbearing in his worry for her. Troy was sidelined as a child and felt that his father just saw him as a freak while doting (unwantedly it seems) on Tyreen. This may not have been directly the case, but again, there is no reason to think Troy is making this up. He doesn’t make up things like this for pity, he actually seems quite averse to looking for pity in general.
Tyreen says Typhon kept them in a cage, that he was afraid the Bandits in the universe would tear them apart, and instead held them prisoner. This is semi factual, but definitely blown out of proportion because again, Troy doesn’t feel this way. Typhon (according to the additional info in the writeup I linked) was terrified of what corporations would do to twin Sirens -considering one is male-, and that’s a really valid concern.
They would absolutely be hunted by the likes of Hyperion if Jack hadn’t been balls deep in his mad rush for the warrior at the time. Typh wouldn’t let them leave home based on this, and while I can understand his logic, there are three main things to consider here:
Troy and Tyreen both seem to think Typhon thought Ty was a monster and that was the reason they were not allowed leave. That is fucked. There is no way they both came up with this out of the blue, and Typhon must have at some point said something or acted in a way to imply this was the reason. That is horrific. That is beyond abusive to say to children, and it was definitely a factor in how warped their mentality towards themselves over time became.
The twins were so terrified of Typhon finding the ship parts Troy was working on and destroying them, that they hid them inside their mothers grave. Again. This is horrific. This is not something young adults who aren’t abused would consider doing. Troy has never alluded to hating Typhon and still agreed with Tyreen this needed to be done. The fear there is palpable, this is not the behavior of young adults who’s relationship with a parent is healthy.
The twins and Typhon had a complete lack of trust between them. A family with this level of distrust has encountered abuse at some point. Typhon was so distrusting of his near adult children ( the twins sounded very late teens - early twenties on Nekro ) that he refused to allow them to have any semblance of a life. He refused to let them be free, because he so feared they would either be incapable of caring for themselves, or would hurt others. The twins distrusted their father so much that they had to resort to hiding their escape means from him. Even Troy, who thought once the ship was complete they’d be taking Typhon with them, didn’t trust him enough to let him know what he was working on. They were afraid of what their father would do if he found out.
This dynamic drips abuse. If it was just Tyreen telling this information to us, I’d find it hard to take as factual as I said earlier, it would feel blown out of proportion, but Troy telling us, and the echologs existing and backing it up? Well, it’s not a lie. It did happen.
The final piece for me is how Typhon responded to Troy being dead.
He couldn’t have fucking cared less. He did not give a flying shit.
The one person who had shown any regret towards leaving him, who had cared about him, and Typhon didn’t bat an eyelid that he was dead. He gives an “Ah well he was a monster anyway lol” response, then immediately starts trying to baby talk his wittle girl, his ickle Starlight. It’s gross. It was vile.
It really showed where his value lay and had always lay, and confirmed Troy had been telling the truth when he’d awkwardly tried to explain how Typhon had just always seen him as a freak, while overly doting on Tyreen to the point of smothering her.
He was a terrible father, and while his abuse came from a place of concern and love, it was absolutely abuse.
Had he so much as tried to find his kids, had he cared about them an iota more then sitting on a dead planet jacking off to memories of his wife for nearly a decade, the twins might have stood a chance. They might have been able to be happy.
Asks are open!

Leda being alive and typhon being dead is way more of a borderlands type twist than “oh fuck my fuckin wife died so i abused my kids”
you can’t tell me that the game teasing about typhon being alive and then you get to nekrotafeyo and Leda is there like “yo i’ve been trapped here since my kids left and also my husband has been dead for years” wouldn’t be WAY cooler than typhon just, being alive.
i’m honestly THIS close to rewriting the twins backstory to include leda living instead of typhon

PLU: Mama Who Bore Us
Tumblr media
Sold to the Atlas corporation at birth, Leda spent most of her early life as a corporate Siren lapdog to the Atlas corporation. Her handlers, members of the Eridian artifact requisition team who she was raised to see as her parents gave her the last name Calypso in reference to the daughter of the titanic Atlas, whether this was them being cruel or clever is up for debate.
Always clever herself Leda gave the Atlas researchers that cared for her a run for their money with her ever inquisitive mind. She questioned even her own Siren abilities and longed to know more about the natural world that was at her beck and call.
Having read stories of what happened when you poorly socialised a siren Leda’s childhood was mostly uneventful and she was allowed to interact with the children of the Atlas employee’s the only active research being done on her being tests of her power and genetic sequencing. Atlas had wanted a Siren for war but they realized that what they had was infinitely more valuable when Leda picked up the Eridian language and ran with it.
In her teen years Leda had a rebellious streak, trying to run away from the Atlas tower and got her first reminder that while she allowed freedoms Atlas considered her property. She had her Atlas asset number tattooed on the back of her neck and was fitted with a compliance collar usually only used on penal workers. This curbed her rebellious behaviour though at the back of her mind she knew one day she would escape Atlas control.
After being allowed to pursue a college education she attended Promethea University and majored in Galactic anthropology while minoring in Xenolinguistics, at the time of her graduation she was considered the person most fluent in Eridian this side of the six galaxies. Upon graduation she was conscripted into an Atlas Eridian Artifacts research team and sent across the galaxy to acquire knowledge about the lost civilisation and the vaults they built so that Atlas might lay claim to what was inside them. Leda of course had different motivations. Guided by Hesperia, the last bearer of her siren power, Leda was guided to Athenas to meet Siren Queen Dido. Dido warned her that as long as she was under the thumb of Atlas the knowledge she sought would be lost to her, but gave her a book written in Eridian and told her to hide it amongst her things, it was for her and her alone.
The book turned out to be the diary of Demeter, the Firstborn Nature Siren and in it detailed the life of the firstborn Siren and after Leda’s interest in the content she had written, Demeter came forth from the aether to speak to Leda directly. Demeter told her of their missing sister, whom she had loved beyond words and the treachery of the other firstborns that saw her love sealed away forever.
Leda knew what she was destined to do. This would be the push she needed to break her chains, she knew who she had to find to get her where she needed to be. It was too easy to crash the drop pod on Pandora and make her crewmates disappear never to be heard of again. She sought the one civilian Atlas had a file on that was as detailed as the one they had kept for her, Typhon Deleon, the man who found the vaults.
Her intent had been to use him to get what she wanted, a stepping stone in her plans that would be cast off when she no longer needed him. What she did not plan for however, was that this strange little man who saw the world so differently than the cold and calculated handlers she’d known her whole life behind Atlas walls. She scarcely knew what love was and yet she found herself falling head over heels in it. They were an odd couple, everyone who met them could attest to that but they worked. The vault hunter and the siren, none of their friends could disagree that they were a perfect match. They would talk for hours about topics even their most scholarly friends would end up losing the point on. When it was all said and done, they married after finishing their map to Nekrotafeyo said their goodbyes and took off into the great dark beyond.
The Centurion was an older transport class ship, nowhere near as impressive as the likes of Montgomery Jakobs “Family Jewel”  but it had a class 2 laboratory and medbay on board so it suited the needs of the couple just nicely. Typhon had said the ship had been in his family for decades and Leda could believe that.
As populated space disappeared behind them and travel continued they discussed the one thing Leda had never thought would be on the table: starting a family. They had never intended to stay on Nekrotafeyo, the plan was to go, explore, and see if the vault of the serpent truly held the lost siren. So the idea of escaping into the vast expanse of space after that, raising children among the stars, it was quickly becoming a goal Leda realized she wanted so they began to try for children.
What they did not expect was Nekrotafeyo’s gravity to be as strong as it was, the miscalculation combined with the Centurions age led to a rough landing destroying the landing gear and several important navigation tools as well as damaging the left engine. The reactor still worked so they had access to all the amenities of the starship but they were stranded unless they could set aside time for the dedicated repairs. There was much to explore on the planet though so they set it aside for a future problem.
Before long Leda was travelling from ruin to ruin translating the Eridian runes that survived all this time and examining their complex crystalline machinery that responded to her powers if she tried hard enough. Typhon built them a suitable home in the shadow of the Centurion out of scrap metal he had in the cargo hold and before long they realized they liked life away from the people who would use them for their specialized abilities and talents. Furthermore, though they had still not located the vault of the serpent they had a new discovery that was equally as exciting; Leda was pregnant.
Typhon had hoped that his wife would settle down in pregnancy worried for the safety of their unborn children however it only spurred Leda to continue her search for the missing vault. They found it and went to battle with the Serpent, a seven headed vault monster (demigod) that was ultimately defeated. In opening the vault released the spirit of Nyriad, the lost siren so frightened she latched to the first unclaimed female presence she felt, the unborn Tyreen.  Unaware that her daughter being the bearer of the siren power would have adverse effects on her unborn son Leda assumed that things would be fine from here on out, she had done what she had set out to do. Everything else was icing on the cake.
Of course it would not be the easy ‘retirement’ the twins were discovered to be conjoined close to their due date and Tern opted to perform an emergency C-section then and there to prevent losing them both. When the twins were delivered no one expected Troy to make it more than a few days. He was struggling to survive outside an isolette and despite being fed he wasn’t gaining weight.  As if guided by an instinct Leda desperate to keep her son alive offered a tiny bit of her power to her son and when his little red marked fingers crossed the glowing blue of her markings her offered power flowed into her son and his little red marking flared to life for the first time since he’d been cut from his sister.
She was so relieved, her children would make and she would give them the world. In the end of course she gave them so much more than that.

Okay, so, I know I mentioned that Pandora = Pandora’s box and yeah, but this also kinda falls into the borderlands universe (TBU if you will) taking a lot of inspiration from Greek mythology. Sirens and sirens. Athena and Athenas. Prometheus and well you get the picture.
But can someone explain to me where Nekrodefayo is in Greek mythology? Because there is clear, blatantly obvious parallels here but I don’t get this one?
Hell even certain people aren’t exempt from this so did the eridan homeworld get a lil neglected where’s as Leda Calypso and Typhon DeLeon got a mythological call-out but not something that hyped up to be somewhat important?

Reflections (aka Troy Calypso angst)
So given what we now know about Troy’s tattoos, and the origin of his last name, here’s some angsty stuff regarding his feelings on Leda’s birthday.
It's the same problem every year, without fail. Back home, he didn't really have the means to do much except put flowers – the bright, weird kinds that she'd always loved – on her grave. Even that had become a corrupted place, eventually, Tyreen hiding their escape plans there so their dad would never find them. Troy missed their father, even though he had never really been of much importance to Typhon. It didn't matter though, he was still their father. Sure, though, Troy had wanted to matter to him, but he had long made peace with the knowledge that Typhon didn't give a damn.
Their mother had been the precise opposite. Whereas Typhon had doted over Tyreen, no doubt fuelling her narcissism, Leda had loved her children equally. Troy had always thought his mother had always had just a little more time for him. Even though it was probably stupid, Troy still talked to her. He had a journal on his echo, triple password locked, full of letters to his mother. Of course he couldn't send them, and she would never read them, but it helped, just a little. He had memos he could have sent to his father, too, but never did. He wasn't sure Typhon cared enough to hear from him, and even if he did, Troy wasn't sure his father would be too proud of what he and Tyreen were using their smarts and powers for.
Taking her name had been his idea; Tyreen hadn't wanted the link to their father, but hadn't thought of an alternative, either. It had been a no-brainer for Troy. The enormous stylised Calypso tattoo across his torso had been the first addition once arriving on Pandora. The others and the piercings had come soon after. Troy wasn't sure his mum would recognise him now, if he was honest. He liked to think she'd be proud of the cybernetic arm he had built himself. It had taken time, given he'd had to build it one-handed, but he was proud of it nonetheless.
The latest addition to his collection of tattoos still stung in the morning air as he made his way through the cathedral. It had been placed on his wrist, amongst his siren tattoos. He had found, amongst her journal that he had taken from home, her name signed in her own hand. Neat print made it seem as though she had written on his arm herself. Leda.
Chances were he wouldn't see Tyreen in the worship hall. If she even remotely cared about the significance of the day, she never showed it. Troy wasn't sure his sister even remembered that it was their mother's birthday. Tyreen had always been selfish, but with every passing day, she seemed more and more distant from who she had once been. Troy worried that one day there would be nothing of his sister left but the God Queen persona he had built for her. Right. Cause that didn't make him feel guilty as hell or anything.
As expected, the worship hall was empty. It was far too early in the day for any of the COV devotees to be packed into the room, lighting candles and leaving gifts at the statues of Troy and Tyreen respectively. Luckily, this meant he would have a little privacy for this ritual. Not like he would be against kicking people out, if needed, but that wouldn't exactly endear him to his followers.
Taking advantage of the emptiness, Troy made his way along the aisle between mismatched chairs and pews. People often fought over who got sitting space, but they could still pack at least three thousand people into the room, if needed. The more the better, in Tyreen's opinion. It would have been uncomfortable. Troy could picture it as he strode towards his statue, picking up a handful of candles from the basket on the stage as he went.
There was an altar between the statues, which mostly went unused. Their followers always seemed to pile offerings on specific statues, only using the altar on particularly important days, when offerings overflowed. Luckily, it served his purpose well enough.
Yawning, Troy set out the candles, pulling the framed photograph of his mother out the deep pocket of his coat. He set it in front of the semi-circle of candles, placing two incense sticks either side. It wasn't much, but it was nice to be able to give her some sort of tribute, even from so far away.
He was glad he was alone; Troy hated the idea of anyone seeing any sort of weakness from him. With a lump in his throat, he lit the incense.
“Miss you, mom,” he muttered to the photograph, plopping himself down in front of the altar. He wasn't sure what he was waiting for, exactly. He just wanted to sit until the candles burned out. Maybe, if there was some afterlife, Leda would know that her son still cared, no matter what he had become.

ABOUT
Troy and Tyreen were born to Typhon and Leda DeLeon on the Eridian homeworld of Nekrotafeyo. Troy was a parasitic twin, born connected to Tyreen at his right shoulder and missing an arm as a result. Once they reached crawling age, the conjoined twins were surgically separated, as Troy's growing body was struggling to maintain being supported by Tyreen's. Tyreen manifested siren powers in her early childhood; in an unprecedented turn of events, they spread to Troy, as well.
The exact nature of the Twins' childhood remain clouded in bias. According to Troy, the two were kept caged and incessantly watched over by their overbearing father, more so after the death of their mother. Their father claims he kept them on Nekrotafeyo in order to protect them, though his stories of his own adventures vault hunting only made the twins want to leave their home planet and explore more.
Ultimately, the two of them left home in search of vaults. After the events of Borderlands 2, the Calypso Twins began broadcasting their travels and the ensuing violence across the ECHOnet, in an attempt to gain fame and fortune. Their broadcasts and charisma worked wonders upon the damaged minds of the Pandorans. Soon, their fans had formed a cult in their honor, the Children of the Vault, which was comprised of ten billion followers at its prime.
Tyreen is the main face of the faction, and hailed as "The God Queen". Troy is in charge of the faction's propaganda and broadcasts, and is hailed as "The God King". The followers of the cult are named "the family" as a collective, and call the Vault Hunters "heretics" or "Vault Thieves" due to their belief that the vaults are property of their cult.
The twins constantly crave to increase their already impressive "subscription count" through broadcasts directed to their followers: they often set up daily "Livescreams" and other content such as "Let's Flays" to keep their follower count high and growing. They even hire hosts to do their bidding, such as Mouthpiece, who is in charge of "Holy Broadcasts", and Pain and Terror, who host shows of gladiatorial violence.
The cult uses a tier-based membership system in a parody of "subscriber tiers", with "Eridium-tier" members being given the opportunity to participate in special live events; such as being teleported directly to enemies of the Twin Gods to fight for them, or to be turned into superpowered mutants known as the Anointed.
