Hannah Montana is fucked up because its entire POINT as a show is that children should be protected from fame and exploitation, but it stars a REAL little girl that's being exploited. Nearly every episode carries the looming threat of Miley being outed as Hannah and losing her peaceful teenage life to the ravages of fame. Her father in the show (played by her own father in real life) wisely protected her from the trauma of fame by making her wear a disguise and live a rather quiet, interview-free life. Meanwhile the REAL Billy Ray Cyrus sold his daughter to Disney Channel when she was 11 and forced her to read dialogue about how terrible it would be to face the public eye. Like... Jesus, dude. The fictional Robby Ray is 10x the father, and it's not even close. (It's also IMMENSELY funny that her dad doesn't use his real name in the show, while she does. Almost like he wanted a bit of a disconnect between his identity and his character. Something Miley didn't get.)

At least the cops said they can flag the serial number as stolen, which is a small comfort. While I very much enjoy the malicious thought that the scammer thief is going to be inconvenienced, it doesn’t help me financially, which is the biggest issue right now.

I just got scammed and technically robbed. Amazing.

I attempted to sell my old phone on marketplace. Guy shows up, says he’ll transfer money. Seemed like a nice kid so I said sure. He shows me a transaction receipt. All good.

Dude leaves, takes the phone.

I feel a bit suspicious so I check the account BSB on the receipt. It doesn’t exist. I go to message the guy, he’s blocked me. The cops say too bad so sad, you’re out of luck. So I’m out the phone which was going to pay off this last bill we’re stuck with so we could BREATHE again and buy a double pram/stroller. I am so, so angry and disappointed rn like I just want to cry.

There’s absolutely zero chance of recovering that stolen phone or the money that’s owed. I have no idea how we’re going to pay for this bill now…
