I think “waving at the ship” is a subtle nod to Kaylors! Everyone says we’re delusional shippers. But I think Taylor deeply appreciates that we see the real love story underneath the layers of obfuscation.
Down Bad
Like I lost my twin
What if I can't have him
Down bad
Down bad
Waving at the ship
What if I can't have him
“They’ll say I’m nuts if I talk about the existence of you.” She can’t talk about Karlie but we keep the candle 🕯️ burning. We acknowledge her truth.
Did you take all my old clothes?
Just to leave me here naked and alone
In a field in my same old town
That somehow seems so hollow now
They'll say I'm nuts if I talk about the existence of you
For a moment I was heaven struck
I wonder if this is partly what was meant by 🎃’s message that one day they’ll say we were the lucky ones. When it all comes to pass.
🎃 The story of two princesses. No place for a prince, despite the spotlight that shines on him. One day, people will say you’re the lucky ones.
Even “lucky ones” seems to have a double meaning here — just like in the song — because we’ve actually been ostracized from the fandom even though we’ve known all along. They’ll say we just guessed right or it was all luck. But we are the Cassandras who spoke the truth and were doomed to not be believed.
