#John Winchester sucks

Thinking about the differences between how Dean raised Sam and how he handled Jack being born and how much John Winchester is at the heart of that difference. Dean believes that John raised Sam, and always saw John in the father position (since it was technically true), and so he focused on taking care of Sam, providing for him and keeping him safe—all the things that made him far more of a father to Sam than John ever was. But in filling the role of father for Jack, Dean falls back on the example he had, which is John’s parenting, not recognizing that he already knows how to be a good father because he already had to be one.
Additionally, I think that’s why Sam does a little better with Jack (not that he was perfect, especially at the beginning when he was trying to use Jack to get Mary back): because his example of a good father figure is Dean, who provided for him and taught him to survive.

I fucking hate J*hn Winchester so much. He's a little bitch. Even his past self thought he was. I'm almost done with the fifth season (I'm on 5x18), and OH MY GODDDD!!! Adam :( I love him so fucking much! Ahhhhh!! If Adam was in the show the whole time, Dean and Adam would've made such a funny duo throughout the years. (If someone has made/wants to make a fic where everything is the exact same except Adam is a more permanent character, I would love to have the name of it. Also, "I rebelled for this?!" that's gay. Also, we're just gonna ignore that the next episode is Hammer of the Gods.

Dean pt 1
Dean watched as his father left him to tend to his baby brother. He’s a big boy now, and he didn't need coddling. At least that’s what dad always told him. The first part was expected. Dean was 11 and he could pick himself up after a fall. But no more comfort or reassurance was hard to understand. It was just a bruise of course, he gave it to himself. He had tried to show Sammy a trick that included climbing on a chair. He ended up falling and hitting the ground hard. His brother had started crying which alerted his father. Instead being told that everything would be alright and that the pain would go away soon he was scolded and told not to startle his brother like that again.
He only wanted to show him a trick.

The writers really had to make a family mentally, verbally, and physically abuse a child for his whole life in order to gaslight Sam into thinking his dad wasn't so bad

Funny how Dean knows it's yellow eyes because he was being nicer than his real dad! Like bro the Literal DEMON that KILLED HIS MOTHER was NICER to him then his REAL FATHER! In conclusion John Winchester was abusive and deserves to get his ass kicked by Cas and Mary in Heaven.

boyfriend says John is stupid and Bobby is the boys' actual father (we're just in 3.4 ‘Sin City) - but he justified it saying that Bobby
• offers help
• answers phonecalls
and that's basic shit that John didn't do

I've only watched 5 eps of The Winchesters and I know there's something along the lines of "John loses his memories of being a hunter" or whatever BUT
How can John Winchester be the way he is in SPN after knowing Carlos Cervantes???? You just don't forget someone like Carlos, especially after working with him and accepting him the way he is, in the fucking seventies!! That's bullshit. I can't reconcile the image of the John from SPN with the one from TW.

One thing that still bothers me about Dean and Sam (especially in the early seasons) is that Sam knows that for pretty much Dean’s whole life all his father ever told him was to look out for Sammy, to take care of Sammy.
And Sam is still like “God, Dean, why are you so protective over me?”
Like IDK COLLEGE BOY, MAYE 20+ YEARS OF BEING TOLD HIS PURPOSE IN LIFE WAS TO LOOK OUT FOR YOU DID THAT TO HIM???
Sam def took intro to psychology so ??? my GUY. This stuff is INGRAINED in him. It’s been beat into his brain, probably literally, for two decades.
Especially after everything in 1.18…Dean was like 12 or something when all that happened. He tells Sam that their father never looked at him the same after that.
ITS CALLED TRAUMA, SAM. LOOK IT UP.

I wanted Deanmon and Rowena to have interacted like this.
Rowena: Winchester, if you think you can kill me now you are sorely mistaken-
Dean: I want to stop repressing my bisexuality and I need auntie Rowena. Please
Rowena : …….
Rowena: Well. Lets talk.
Dean: *Already crying* Well it all started with my dad-

I don’t know, man, there’s just something about John telling Sam he’s proud of him and trying to reconcile with him and then using Dean as bait for a trap, and then about John making a deal to save Dean and leaving things on a good note with Sam but sending him off without saying goodbye and then saying he’s proud of Dean before telling him that he might have to kill Sam after raising him to protect Sam at all costs and how well those interactions show the differences in Sam’s and Dean’s relationships with John and how he neglected his job as a father for both of them but did it differently in each case

"I have this dream that I am hitting my dad with a baseball bat And he is screaming and crying for help And maybe halfway through, it has more to do with me killing him Then it ever did protecting myself And I believe that, yeah, Dad, maybe no one is perfect But I believe that you were pushing your luck"

Thought it'd be different so I fixed it (I think)
John hears Sam say, "I wuv you daddy. " Confused John stops because Sam keeps repeating that he loves him.
Realization hit him when he hears Deans voice.
"I love you too, Sammy"
Hearing the happy coo Sam gives John feels anger burn in his chest. He wants to burst in there angrily, but he needed to follow this lead on yellow eyes, so without another word he closes the door and drives off.
Or alternatively
John is about to finish closing the door when he hears his eldest son speak quietly to his youngest.
"I love you, Sammy." Dean says.
Quickly he hears Sam happily reply, "I wuv you, daddy. "
