See I was kind of hoping that the show would flesh out Wylan and Jesper's pre-SoC relationship because it wasn't much expounded upon in the books, but instead they somehow managed to flesh it out even less

Great then! Ok so question:

I know it is accepted by the fandom that the Silver Six is Kaz's club and that he took it from Pekka after the "plague" and changed the name and made it his. However...do we ever actually get explicit confirmation that it's his?

I am like 12 chapters away from finishing RoW and the only "explicit confirmation" for which I could assume that the Silver Six is his, is that the beggar (Kaz in disguise, which btw he's SUCH a theater kid) was in the Silver Six's porch asking for money, so we might imply that he was there because the establishment is his.

Now, I saw somewhere in tumblr a post saying that the tunnel from his club to Wesper's house ran from the Silver Six (which could confirm that it's his casino) but NO! Because I just read the chapter and the tunnel runs from the Crow Club to the rich district of Ketterdam (and close to Wesper's house ofc).

So anyway, is it ever confirmed that the Silver Six is actually his? I mean, it makes the most sense, and the name also makes sense because he's a big softie on the inside and would name the club after his 5 BFFs but...are we just supposed to assume that it's his? Is it ever explicitly confirmed?

So I did some research (typing in key words on my digital copies of SoC, CK and RoW) and I couldn’t find any actual confirmation. So the answer to your question is no, it’s not confirmed, in writing.

But it’s pretty heavily implied. It is confirmed that the Silver Six is where the Emerald Palace used to be. That’s part of Pekka’s old “kingdom” and Kaz is tearing it down brick by brick and taking it all for himself. He earned that spot. And really what other gang would name a gambling den the silver six? What other gang would have the guts to claim Pekka Rollin’s old turf??

I like to think that the beggar disguise was Kaz’s way of checking to see how proficient his bouncers were being. A way to check up on his new club without anyone recognizing him (and yes he is SUCH a theater kid) I imagine he checks on his clubs this way a lot (especially because he doesn’t have the Wraith around anymore to be his eyes and ears 🥲)

It’s also just really really sweet if it’s his club too. Kaz cares for his crows. Naming his new club the Silver Six is part of his way of showing appreciation for his friends and I see it as a way of honoring Matthias, he might be gone, but all six of them were important to him. He loves them and they live on in memory and now in memorial too.

If the club isn’t Kaz’s I will be very very surprised (and I’ll eat one of Jesper’s hats) It just makes so much sense, like you said, that it’d be his.

I’m supossed to be doing homework, but instead I’m watching season 2 of Shadow and Bone. Since my dear sister hasn’t started it yet (and I have no one else to talk about it) I’m gonna put my reactions here :) hope you enjoy it

*this will contain spoilers*

Resume of episode 1, 2 and 3 because i decided to do this way too late

- Alina really looks like she needs weeks of sleep

- No matter in what episode, all of Kaz’s memories break me a little more

- I’m happy that Tantee is dead but... Inej deserved to make her pay

- Something that I adore that the show does its when Inej is being quite and you can only hear the movement of the knifes

- THERE’S ONLY ONE BEEEEEEED!!!!

- I’ve only read SoC and CK and I don’t want to read the main trilogy just because I’m loving Mal SO MUCH and all I’ve heard about book Mal is ugh

- The zemeni people it’s incredible, how they perceived grisha’s power and how they protect Alina *cheff kiss*

- Also Mal going back to pay for what the soldier broke... he’s amazing

- I understand Kaz’s point about telling the truth to Sturmhund... but i was hoping he would’ve keep his word

- Inej and Nina ARE the best duo

- The whole thing about Jesper not remembering Wylan it’s something I didn’t know I needed. Like... the potential??? That’s fanfic material right there

- And also then he remering him in the middle of a gunfire???

Hi!! omg congrats for your 800 followers! I’ll never get tired of saying how talented you are, I’m so glad your blog is growing so much. You probably remember that I already took part in many of your events, so please only answer this if you’re okay with me participating again! I recently got into Shadow and Bone and I’m obsessed so I’d like to request a matchup with a character from there (preferably only the show as I have yet to read the book). I’m the mom friend of the group, always there for everyone and my friends say that I’m really good at comforting people. I’m also calm and responsible, I usually am the one that takes care of other people. I’m very optimistic, I always try to see the good in everything and I often put other’s needs before my own, I would do everything for the people I care about and sometimes I’ve been told that I’m too kind for my own good. I have a sarcastic humor and I love making others laugh to lighten the situation, people say that I should be more serious and that I shouldn’t joke around so much. I don’t like when people tell me what to do and I’m not afraid to stand up for myself or for someone else. he definitely needs someone who’s the mom friend of the group. being calm and responsible s definitely the opposite of him. while he’s an optimist, he tends to panic when things get a little out of control, and you’d be there to rope him back in some when he needed you to. you’d keep him in check without stifling his fun, which i think he’d appreciate.

he would love your humor. he likes to make people laugh and feel good too, so when he say that you liked to do that too, he’d get so excited. i think he’d be a little upset that you let people walk all over you sometimes. he’d tell you that he loves your kindness, but that it’s ok to be a little less kind. it would be his turn to step in if you needed him to help you out with someone who was bothering you, and he’d gladly do it. he knows that you can take care of yourself, but sometimes you’d let someone push you a little too much, and he wouldn’t have it. he definitely used humor as a coping mechanism too, so he’d know when you were being serious and when you were hiding something. and. i bet he’d know exactly how to help and make you smile.

he’d appreciate that you’re smart and ambitious. while he isn’t the most academically inclined, he did go to school (in the books, hope you enjoy them btw) he’s very street smart. you two would make a good pair on jobs. your theater background would come in handy then, considering sometimes kaz would need you and jesper to pretend like you were somewhere else. jesper would get a kick out of watching you perform.

i have a feeling jesper would hate horror movies (if they exist in the grishaverse, not sure). he’d want to be a man and be protective of you, but it would definitely end up with him hiding his face in your shoulder while you laughed and told him it wasn’t even that scary. he’d tell you that he sees enough horror in his day to day life, he doesn’t need it in his media. i don’t think he actively reads, but he may enjoy a good book or two. he definitely listens to music, and would love to sit with you and listen to music while you read, either to yourself or out loud to him.

physical touch is definitely one of jesper’s love languages. he needs to feel grounded and connected to you, he needs to know that you’re both safe and with each other. it calms him down when he’s getting a little agitated.

maybe on a job, things would be going slightly off plan, and he was stressing about it.

silently, you’d reach for his hand, intertwining your fingers. you didn’t even have to say anything, your touch said enough for you.

“you’re alright, jesper. deep breathes, we’ve got this.”

kaz would notice how you two work well together, and see how you were able to instantly calm jesper. he’d give you a huge raise if it meant goi could keep jesper on track and focused for all your jobs.

“you two, you’re together for this next part. we meet back here in an hour, got it?”

“got it,” jesper would say, already feeling better as he squeezed your hand before leaning down to whisper to you. “thank you, love.”

you’d smile, tugging him along. “it’s what i’m here for. let’s go!”

like yeah i agree that kaz absolutely has a heart, but i think those acts of kindness are mostly reserved for the people he loves, even if wylan is new, you can tell he's already warmed up to him, and i really dont think he'd do something kind just because for someone he feels indifferent to at best, much less someone like a king, and wait omg i just remembered he's friends with sturmhund i take it all back, he would indeed give it up for his friend. and yeah youre right about wesper it was adorable, but i dont know i needed the slow burnnnnn, but yeah given netflix penchant for with gay shit, it was necessary.

And about everything else, yeah it made sense but it was really rushed, especially in s2, and like i get that they have to make everything as fast as they can in case it gets cancelled but im sad about it, but i just really hope malina does meet in the meadow in the end, cause at this point, this show is uncharted territory and completely new and i am so excited for it, and i think that was just setting up for nikolai i bet they will make him all scary later, or at least i hope. But like MERZOST!!!!! ALINA WTF!!! i loved the shadow cut it, like alina i love that youre very powerful but pls try not to turn evil, and like shes heading exactly in the direction the darkling said she would go which is so scary and obvious in a good way i love it. And omg the darkling, like in the books its neither easy to not root for him except maybe when he dies, but here omg, you're telling me he actually felt something for alina and it was not just manipulation!!!

Also Ben Barnes makes it really hard to not be on his side, Alina is waay stronger than me, "Make me your villain", for you? anything, also very simp i loved it, so its okay they omitted a lot of his character and relationship with alina, as they basically made a new one which i like. and about the white hair thing, it was iconic!!! i needed it!! but its okay, also i think the darkling probably experienced some shit associated with his power, but probably never like that cause the only amplifier he used was his mother, and it wasnt until he used merzost he became unstoppable, and it was slowly taking its toll on him, so slowy at first that it might have even been a plot hole, cause later it starts eating him from the inside.

Anyways Ice Court Heist is coming omgomgomgomg im so excited, i cant wait to see something really serious happening with nikolai and alina, and the crows just, just, yeah. i love them. i love jesper and wylan (the characters not their relationship in this instance) so much i could die just thinking about them.

And i think that's all my thoughts until now, I apologize in advance because I WILL think about it more and I WILL bother you about it<3

Thank you! I will now proceed to do the most uncool thing by throwing words at the wall about a fictional character's entirely un-canon video game habits and hoping they stick. Some of my Thoughts

Obviously loves rhythm games. Guitar Hero rewired his brain chemistry. He'd be one of those people who could play without even looking at the screen because he has the fingerings memorized. Wylan will look you in the eyes as you speak to him but his fingers are doing devil went down to georgia.

Definitely has some retro consoles. Has a N64 he found in a dumpster and repaired himself. Has a childhood Gameboy that he always hid under his pillow.

On a related note he's definitely a Nintendo and PC fella. If he wants to play an Xbox game he'll just go to Jesper's.

HATES games that rely on random chance. Hates Mario Party and sucks ass at MarioKart. He plays Smash Bros with items and stage hazards off. He's not strictly a tryhard, he mostly just can't comprehend the random chaos of items flying around. (but he's also a little bit of a tryhard)

Only plays story-based games with people - he needs the emotional support tbh. Played The Last of Us with Jesper and it ruined his life. ("jes would you kill me if I was bitten. you have to kill me if i get bitten ok" "you can't do this to me right now it's just a video game")

Tried speedrunning for a while but went full Autism Mode and nearly got his ass sent to the hosptial because he forgot to perform bodily functions. Jesper had to temporarily ban him from the grindset.

Went through an Undertale phase.

Listens to videogame soundtrack. So much OST. Mario Galaxy, Skyrim, Outer Wilds, Xenoblade, and Ori games feature prevalently. Also Guitar Hero definitely influenced his music taste. Wylan would love to introduce everyone to prog metal - look, this song is in 5/8! It's an acquired taste. He loves how technically skilled it is - no one passes him the aux.

Always wearing big old headphones. They're falling apart but they're his favorite pair. What a gamer.

LACRIMOSA

No. No. No.

Your cries pierced the ears of everyone around you, the rubble falling from the walls, tumbling down into the road.

You sprinted. You didn’t care that your breath was running short or that you felt like collapsing or that you were bleeding from your arm and your forehead. Your arms pumped madly as you dodged any and every object or human in your way, even vaulting over some of them.

“JESPER!” you screamed, throat raw. He didn’t even look back, just staring up at the wall that would be tumbling down in a second. You saw it in your vision, you didn’t want to see it in real life.

Your mind flickered, wanting to show you one last thing before you ran.

Your arms were outstretched, legs not slowing down. Reaching for Jesper, you pushed him just one second before it all came crashing down.

You heard him scream as you were under the rubble.

You were tired, sweating. You couldn’t breathe properly.

“No, no, I love you. I’m sorry, I love you,” you heard Jesper sob. You smiled, closing your eyes for what may have been the final time.

Your heart stalled, but still, you continued to run for the curly-haired man with the mischievous grin. You continued to run so that he could live. It didn’t matter if you died. It didn’t matter because he would live to see another day; a day with his family, a day with someone he may someday fall in love with.

Or are you just being selfish, taking yourself away. He does, after all, love you according to your vision.

Were you?

No. Just because you couldn’t live without him… were you being selfish?

Yes.

But no.

And you were running out of time.

Faster.

Closer.

You were being a little selfish, you realized. But he could move on. He could love someone else.

You couldn’t.

So when you grasped his shirt and shoved him away as the cement from the structure fell atop your head, the chaos in the streets and his shocked, petrified face being the last thing you saw, you smiled. He could move on.

You’d given him a chance.

“No, no, I love you. I’m sorry, I love you,” Jesper sobbed, too shocked to even move. He shook himself out of it. “No no no. Nonononnono… Please, no,” he continued crying as he crawled toward the rubble, pushing each stone, each brick out of the way, digging his way through to you.

“Jesper, what are you doing? The boat is over there, we have to leave,” Inej said, looking at him desperately.

He shook his head frantically, moving faster. “No. They’re- They’re under here. They’re under here Inej- (Y/N) is under here.”

Her eyes widened, tearing up. “Jes… I… if they’re under there I don’t think-”

He looked toward her, brows furrowed, daring her to speak. Moving away another brick, his eyes bored into her again, whispering, “What don’t you think, Inej? What don’t you think?”

“Shit, I didn’t mean to say that.”

He just turned back to his work, moving quicker, still trying. He would get you to that boat. He’d make sure you were alive. You’d be alive tomorrow and the next day and the day after that.

You would.

“Jes, come on.”

“No.”

“I’m sorry, Jes, but they’re gone. I’m sorry. Now, they died so you could have a chance to live, but to do that you need to get on the boat before Ketterdam falls completely. Please, Jesper, just come with me.”

He stopped in his tracks, gagging from the tears, choking from the dust. Inej helped him to his feet as he looked back one last time at you.

“Come on, Jesper. We need to go.”
