Now, I'm still waiting for some stuff to air, so this isn't a complete list. Also, the last title isn't exactly one that I'm super enjoying because it's butchering the original, but I'm sticking with it because I like the franchise. I recommend the manga instead of the anime.

Animanga that exceeded all my expectations

The only one I can think of is Suzumiya Haruhi. It didn't exceed all my expectations because they were high from the start, but goddamn. I despise the fact that I came into the show knowing only the memes and opening clip, thinking it was gonna be absolute weeb garbage (because back in the old days it was much easier to not run into spoilers and I'm not even sure if the novel was already being fantranslated at the time), only to find out that it actually fucking slaps. Can you imagine how pissed I was. That I couldn't hate this bullshit of a show. Also endless eight. That shit was traumatizing even though I caught on quick and skipped most of it.

Top 3 Unpopular animanga I really love

I won't say unpopular but these are definitely underrated.

Tsurune (I mean the novel; the anime doesn't deserve much recognition beyond the good animation and sound design, imo)

Nurarihyon no Mago (I know it's been over for more than a decade and the fandom is long dead, but it was temporarily revived by the recent new chapters, and it was criminally underrated in the west back when it was still being published)

Gangsta (used to be really popular when it was on-going, but the fandom lost its hype completely both in the west and in Japan after it entered hiatus because of the author's health)

Hi everyone, thanks so much for your support on my dcmk art I posted a while back (barbie meme with Kid and Conan)!!

I've reblogged a lot of stuff from the community but I very rarely make original content, so it made me super happy to be able to contribute and that people liked it ^v^

Here is a doodle dump + some wips of dcmk art. I've been busy bc of uni and have hit a lil art block so I'm hoping posting this will inspire me/hold me accountable haha

Some extra info:

The redraw of Lost Ship in the Sky (Conan convincing Kaito to disguise) and the dramatic Kid sketch is a very self indulgent au where I give Kaito Hips (please #GiveKaitoHips2023) and a mask to disguise himself. It's inspired by the mask Jii was wearing in the very first episode/chapter mixed with the Kid doodle. Also, I headcanon Kaito as genderfluid (in general).

The sunflower Kaishin one is inspired by Sunflowers of Inferno. I rewatched it then and immediately pumped out the wip haha. Sunflowers = Kaishin flower supremacy please. I love seeing content of it! Here, Kaito's trying to find the biggest sunflower for Conan, so Conan has like a Huge bundle of sunflowers already, and Kaito keeps pulling them out like his roses, nevermind the fact they dont even fit into his sleeves. He's just too good. Conan's going "Another one?" *sweatdrops*

The last one with Shinichi and Conan is inspired by Shinichi's birthday... um I started it on his birthday in fact LOL. And also the adorable chapter covers with Shinichi and Conan. They're soooo cute!! You can also take this as a sibling au too if you wish, or see it as Kaito pranking Conan. And shoutout to the sibling au fic writers!

As you can see from my bias, Kaito and Shinichi/Conan are my fav blorbos. On the other hand I should go draw some other characters for Variety, it'll be good for me haha.

Gender: Female

General Appearance: I feel like she heavily resembles Sgáire for the most part, aside from having wavy hair like Taari, as well as Taari's wings (and one blue eye). Taller than lots of other kids in Gabe's classes that are her age, but I also feel like she's probably going to stop growing so much soon, and end up mostly average height. The maker had wings, so I just gave them to her automatically, but I also kind of think that she might end up with Sugar's fox features, instead? Or heck, she could even have both, who knows!

Personality: Very "Fight me", and thinks she's a lot tougher than she is...which tracks, because Taari was a scrappy little kid at times, too. And she does have the boundless energy and spunk to back it up too, because even if she gets knocked down, she's hopping right back up, ready to go again. Still, for all of that, she's actually a pretty well behaved kid, overall. She likes playing tricks, but she knows where the line is. She might be scrappy, but she doesn't start fights unless it's for a good reason. Wants to hurry and get big like her big brothers and sisters, and her older cousins, so she can hang out with them more, and is always trying to drag her parents out to do all kinds of wild things.

Special Talents: Hide and seek champion...but somehow, Eri-jii, Eno-jii, and Zassy-jii are always able to find her anyway! And really, a lot of times they have to, because she'll be hiding somewhere for so long, that she dozes off and doesn't hear her parents call when the kids she's playing with go get them because they don't know where she went. She has sound powers like some of her angel family too, and she likes using them to mimic all kinds of animal sounds, right now. Sometimes Taari will just name an animal Marielle knows, to see if she can copy the sound it makes. She thinks it's a blast.

Who they like better: Her siblings! And her cousins! sorry mom and dads, she loves you too, don't worry

Who they take after more: She might take after Sgáire more in looks, but I feel like she takes after Taari more in personality...at least, Taari when he was a kid. She definitely doesn't have the cool, calm, collected thing that he generally does these days, lol.

Personal Head canon: Even if she's in her regular classes with Gabby, I feel like she really likes learning from Brodi whenever she can, too. She sees how much Jarrah and Laurys respect them, and thinks that if she also learns from Brodi, that she'll be as cool as he big sister and brother. Actually, she's probably like that with everyone that her siblings have a lot of respect for. Just immediately going to stick to that particular person like "Teach me how to be cool like -insert sibling here-!". Because of this though, she actually has a really wide base of knowledge for a kid so young, so I can see her turning out to be a real jack of all trades type.

something my therapist told me about my constant splitting of gatekeepers is that there is a severe (in my case, severe) lack of control and foundation within the system. no one really knows their place, no one really knows what the system needs, so it keeps trying to split alters or bring dormant gatekeepers back that can control things? might be a little bit of insight as to why you have so many? if this resonates with you, we would suggest a system meeting where everyone discusses their needs, and wants, and what the system needs to be successful. otherwise they may continue to feel out of control, know what i mean? sorry for the unsolicited advice! good luck!

Oh yeah no I entirely know about the correlation between gatekeepers and control. We largely actually have a very solid foundation and established ways of working things, communicating and addressing things and I still don't think we've split in at least the past 3 years or so since all these guys are oldies afaik.

I do know entirely that this is just a result of how absolutely bad our system has control issues which is a known SEVERE issue pervasive through the system. So for us, its largely because we grew up under large and extreme pressure to keep everything in line and to entirely manage ourselves and our lives since we were a kid to like... a perfect T. So most parts in our system tend to have gatekeeper abilities / tendencies / behaviors at least as a secondary thing because quite frankly, our system is locked down tight

Its apparently what with OCD and OCPD arguably being more frequent issues than our PTSD symptoms largely cause they serve as an initial buffer and so you get a lot of parts developed with a "no you can't do that. Why? Cause you cant. Rules"

It was largely a rhetorical request cause this is and has been a *known thing* for like at least 2-3 years over here. It's a meme and its something we work within and it has its upsides and downsides.

Upsides being that a lot of parts have their domains and things they have stupid control over, and we've essentially created a web of procedures on how to "debug" and "troubleshoot" issues by passing the issue around gatekeeper to gatekeeper until reaching either Ray or Crackhead who are the two primary gatekeepers. ((Jii was the first to notice this new one and immediately went '-_- Im submitting a complaint to Ray and XIV to fix this'))

But its really our system's "quirk" is that we are literally like 70-80% gatekeeper at this point. It's to the point where we just learn to respect eachother's territory and let everyone have their assigned sense of control over what they specialize in and those of us that aren't gatekeepers we tend to have our protector specialization.

A large reason I think we keep finding them is cause a lot of them "generated" in the past to keep everything tightly in check and thus now that we are processing stuff we have to go and break past every one of those learned safeguards and their personal gatekeeper.

It's a real pain but its also just the way things are in this system XD Its kinda funny though being one of the few parts that aren't having a secondary role as a gatekeeper cause Im like ah yes, everyone here has special powers and are various levels of OP and Im just here as a guy sitting.

Its also really funny cause in the first like 6 months after diagnosis I was like "wow lol gatekeepers sound OP wish we had one cause that sounds nice but also kinda fake" and then we shat out like 20 -_-'' /half joking

But TLDR entirely agree with your therapist cept in our case I think its largely not that we are currently in that but we were previously in that so much that as we explore things we just keep finding a magical wizard asking us a riddle to gain access every 10 steps.

1: Kaito is a memelord.

He's the kind of person who quotes memes in the group chat, sends the most random stuff he can find on his other social media platforms to his friends, and he uses a gratuitously large amount of kaomojis, especially the ones with a lot of sparkles and magic wands.

He does have alt accounts for his alter ego KID, but none of them are actually confirmed. People believe them well enough though. He's a bit more sophisticated when typing as KID too, but he does subtly slip in the occasional vintage meme because KID is supposedly in his forties in the eyes of the internet.

No one knows that the one that appeared in Paris roughly 20 years ago and the modern day KID are two totally different people, and Kaito does his best to play into that illusion as well as he can on those accounts. To varying results.

2: Kaito built the card gun himself.

Mister "I have a canonical IQ of 400" over here is totally capable of building his own gadgets. Not everything he uses on his heists come form "Jii's professor friend," and Kaito is somewhat uncomfortable outsourcing his own gadgets for criminal activity anyway. The less paper trails the better.

Kaito is a magician at heart, but he's also got a bit of a passion for technical engineering. Read: Teleportation in Kinza using only a giant pully he threw together in one day. These innovations skills are what put him over the degree of most other magicians in universe up to this point.

He also built a motor bike from scratch, but it got in a crash some time prior to the Sun Halo heist, and he didn't have time to rebuilt it himself with everything going on, so he sent it to the professor friend despite the risks since he'd planned to use it in the escape.

Kaito also mixes his own knockout gas. He always makes sure to test it on himself before he deploys it at any heist and makes sure he doesn't spray anyone with something he himself isn't comfortable inhaling. He doesn't want to accidentally asphyxiate someone while making a getaway. All of his knockout gas is rose-scented, he grows his own flowers for his tricks and uses the excess to make his sleepy time serum a bit more pleasant.

Yuusaku and Yukiko are Kaito's godparents and whenever they are in Japan they actively spy on Kaito as a form of "checking up on him" and are the ones who introduced Jii to Agasa. On a side note Chikage and Toichi were some of Shinichi's godparents along with Kogoro and Eri (Yuusaku and Yukiko gave Shinichi two sets since the lifestyle of the Kuroba family was dangerous)

I personally prefer the idea of Jii being Agasa client/friend but Agasa deciding he does not need to know why you need so many smoke bomb, no no, and neither knowing that Agasa’s close friend the Kudos are good friend with Jii’s Employer and good friend Toichi who is also Kaitou KID. (I have a soft spot for situations where character suddenly realise how small the world is)

I can Imagine Yuusaku and Yukiko being Kaito’s godparents! Also the idea of them just stalking a teenager is hilarious and totally something they would do. I can imagine Yukiko trying a new disguise every time they go to see him just to keep him on his toe/because Dramatic is their middle name.

Now as for the Kuroba lifestyle being dangerous I don’t fully agree with it? I mean, you got a point, but around the time of Kaito/Shinichi’s birth, Phantom Lady has technically retired, and Kaitou KID has barely begun his career (like, 1-2years because he started after “rescuing” Phantom Lady). Both of their identity are technically a secret (we know that Yusaku probably know that Toichi is KID but we got that clue from a case happening years later when Shinichi is around 7 I think? He might have known earlier but the first KID was good at his job) so for the Kudos, the Kurobas are only “my disguise master and his wife”. Toichi might even not have been attacked by Snake yet at this point.

I guess you can argue the Kurobas might refuse the position of godparents for some reason, making the Kudos agree to make the Mouris the godparents and the Kurobas are honorary godparents, but I don’t know. Like sure, at his origins a godparent is there to take care of the child in case anything happens to their parents, but I think now it has lost a lot of this significance? (It might just be my own bias speaking. In my family, the godparents are more there to be the #1 uncle/aunt so).

Anyway I can totally see Yukiko being Invested in making Toichi/Yusaku godparents if only because they look like siblings from another parents.
