Another half asleep twins au rant/prompt! Please excuse any spelling or grammar errors I have not slept in a hot minute.
Trigger Warning ⚠️: Ghost Hunger, Dissection/vivisection, starvation
--------------------------------------
So this is a Ghost Hunger Damian and Danny are twins au. I was reminded about ghost hunger the other day and boy did it give me the spark of creativity I needed to create yet another au/fic idea to hyperfixate on.
So in this au Damian and Danny were very close as siblings but Danny ended up dying throwing himself in harms way to protect Damian on a mission for the league. Damian blames himself for not having better reflexes/not paying enough attention and could never convince his grandfather to allow Danyal to be resurrected via the pit.
Talia saw how desperate her son was for the other to live though and also cared for Danyal so she risked it all to revive him secretly and hide him amongst the civilians in America. Damian sadly never got to learn about that fact tho and lived years with the guilt he felt which left him determined to never let that happen again. Which meant he could never let anyone get close enough to want to do such a thing for him and he needed to hone his skills.
Danny on the other hand has hazy memories of his brother while with the Fentons and goes through the same timeline of becoming Phantom and protecting Amity Park. Eventually tho his parents find out and that gets him strapped to a table in the basement begging for his half life/getting vivisected.
So Danny flees going on the run and ends up on the streets of Gotham. The spirit of Gotham is so excited and welcoming to her newest child. He is a protector and her king after all. It fills her with pride that she would get to care for such an important person. She does all she can to make sure the king stays safe. Little things to keep him hidden and protected.
Danny however has unintentionally been keeping a pretty big secret from the ghosts of the realm. He doesn't really know this though and thinks its just a ghost thing. Basically his core is slightly corrupted due to the years he spent around the Lazarus pits aswell as the revival vial the dip in it's corrupt ectoplasm. As a result he experiences ghost hunger which was pretty easy to manage when he lived with the Fenton's. He would normally satiate his hunger via eating pure ectoplasm from the lab but now he has no access to that which leads him to starving himself.
This starvation mixed with his human side starving aswell is very very hard on his body as a result he begins to black out sometimes when he wakes up he usually tastes ectoplasm but just assumes its his own due to his injuries from his parents. These injuries are weirdly taking way longer to heal which is due to ghosts being very mental/emotional state based.
Gotham soon realizes she has a big problem on her hands. It turns out the king's core is corrupted and as a result many of her ghostly children are going missing. She is deeply upset and calls out for help to assist the king with his corruption or stop him from killing more of her children. She hopes the king gets help rather than getting taken down however. She knows it's not his fault. She knows how protective of her city and her people he is and how kind he can be to them and hopes issues get solved so he may become a protector of her people.
This call for help brings Constantine to Gotham. He doesn't get a whole lot of info from Gotham at first but he knows whatever is going on can be dangerous and is important. He knows that some of the bats are in danger too and gives them a warning that something in Gotham seems to be hunting ghostly beings and those whom have died before are at risk especially Red Hood.
The Bat's don't take too kindly to the supernatural threat and kinda force their way into assisting Constantine whom is already annoyed with the prospect of having to deal with the bats.
So time passes and the bats gets a few encounters of feeling as if they're being hunted. Jason is also the first to discover the new homeless kid in Gotham who looks almost exactly like Damian. It's hard to really see too many similarities at the time tho he's so thin it's deeply worrying and his icy blue eyes greatly contrast Damian's emerald green, but some similarities are far too obvious to miss. Oh great more black hair blue eyed adoption bait. Better keep him far away from Bruce.
The few run ins some of the bat kids have with Danny make them worried about the homeless kid. Dick, Tim, Duke and Jason all get run ins with the kid and tho they want to try and help the kid he always seems to vanish without a trace. It's kinda creepy but they all can recognize just how scared this kid is.
Eventually Bruce and Damian get their run in with the kid. The GiW have finally tracked Danny down and due to the stupid vivisection wounds not healing and the starvation of both forms he can't get the strength he needs to defend himself or make an easy escape. He ends up cornered in an alleyway and getting shot with luckily no major damage. Batman and Robin come across the scene of what appears to be some weird new gang bullying a homeless child and makes quick work of them.
After all is said and done and they look back to help the injured kid Damian ends up shocked to find that this kid is Danyal. At first he pulls his sword on him making threats thinking this is some sick and twisted trick from the league, but then he comes to his senses seeing how broken and defeated Danyal is. He doesn't flinch or shy away from the fate, though he has tears in his deeply tired eyes he doesn't fight back. He doesn't seem to have the energy to. He just sits against the walled dead end that almost got him killed and stares down the katana as if he no longer fears death.
Things get bit emotional as he questions his long dead brother. Danny is honest in answering he doesn't know how he came back nor does he fully remember how he died in the first place. He also dodges some of the questions and keeps the ghost half hidden. He explains to them he's gotten himself into trouble however and people are after him now and he appreciates the help. He keeps as much as he can about ghosts being involved a secret. He has no idea about the Bat's stances on them after all. And he seems to hate metas so probably won't take to kindly to a ghost.
Damian and Danny share info and Bruce discovers he has a son he didn't know about and deeply regrets not being there cause the state this kid is in is pretty dier. He's not sure he can fully trust the kid though. It's clear he's hiding something and that could be a danger to his family and Gotham, but he decides to give him a chance. After all this is his son and he wants to help him no matter what.
Bruce calls in someone to cover the rest of his and Damian's patrol route for the night and has Alfred get Doctor Thompkins to meet them back in the cave for medical assistance. They get Danny back and he starts getting some treatment for his wounds. Alfred and Thompkins are pretty horrified to find the vivisection wounds on the kiddo. They are definetly infected by this point. And much to Danny's dismay he has to use the excuse that he's a meta to explain why he's got such a low temperature and heart rate, why he can't use sedatives, and why stitches and stuff like that won't work.
So treatment is a bit difficult but they do their best with it. Alfred and Thompkins also discuss what needs to be done to get the kid back on track to being healthy. All the while Damian is anxiously waiting to be able to see his brother again. Bruce has never seen Damian show such emotion and care before aside from when he's dealing with animals. It's so jarring. And of course the other bat kids are snooping trying to find out what's going on.
So recovery is slow and bat kids try to connect with their new sibling whenever Damian isn't trying to act as a guard dog/mother hen. Danny ends up the closest with Damian and Jason in the family. Jason can immediately tell something is off with the kid due to the Lazarus water reacting to him and is the first person Danny opens up to about being half ghost (much to Damian's dismay). Jason keeps Danny's secret for him but encourages him subtly to open up to the others cause they'll definetly accept him despite the fact that he's half dead. They bond a lot on their mutual trauma and of course Damian is jealous but also happy Danny is actually talking to someone and getting back on his feet.
Damian still feels immense guilt over the first death Danyal faced and this guilt makes him think of course Danyal would want to avoid him that Danyal blames him too which is totally untrue and eventually gets worked through but not until after theres some conflicts due to jealousy. But that comes later.
One night Jason decides to stay over for Danny's sake and Danny has another black out. Basically his ghost form goes feral and tries to go after Jason. This results in the discovery that Danny was the danger Constantine has been looking for all along and there's a major blow up in the family due to this info. Danny only stops feral mode after eating a blob ghost (poor lil guy) and gets rudely awoken by the batfam accusations of attempted murder.
Danny is finally informed that he's been killing and eating ghosts and is horrified this goes against his whole goal of protecting everyone and keeping the balance and really goes against his protection obsession. It breaks him and Bruce yelling accusations at him doesn't help at all. Kiddo has a major breakdown and goes on the run from his new family thinking he is a danger and that he blew it with them.
Danny faces issues with injury to his core aswell due to what he's done and how that effects his obsession. Basically he's having a real bad time.
Jason whom has connected with the kiddo knows that this ain't Danny and somethings clearly wrong and so does Damian so the two reluctantly band together to locate and help the poor kiddo. With this team up Damian discovers Jason knew Danny was a half ghost and jealousy causes a fight but they manage to keep the team together out of concern for the kiddo.
The the other Bats team up with Constantine to track him down and eliminate the threat. Gotham tries to impede them though cause she knows the route they are on will only bring harm to the ghost king rather than help him. She tries her best to help hood and Robin find him first.
When Jason and Damian discover Danny he's in bad shape. Kiddos absolutely breaking down and very injured his core is definetly injured for sure. They try to offer assistance but Danny isn't thinking straight he's like a wounded animal so if he gets cornered he fights back.
It really doesn't help that the GiW manages to track him down yet again and the boyoa have to deal with both that and a ghostly Danny whom poses a risk of injury to not only them but himself.
With so much going on its no surprise that the GiW actually succeeds in capturing Danny. The two vigilante's end up getting knocked out and left to the wayside.
Eventually the other bats come across them and they explain Danny was captured by the thugs that first attacked him. Constantine recognizes the organization and is deeply frustrated but hey atleast it's not his problem anymore right? Wrong. With the kids explanations he realizes Danny was not actually evil. He's partially alive and he is a protector spirit not a rouge one. He also realizes how bad things are cause a spirit like that committing such acts that he has risks destabilization which would probably kill both the human and ghost half. He's no ghost expert but Gotham's giving him signs she wants him to help the ghost kid and now he's in quite the pickle.
So this leads everyone into panic mode and search and recuse mode. Theres a big rescue mission where they break into the GiW headquarters and fight the GiW to get Danny back. Of course he is having a hard time staying stable and they have to both use whatever magic Constantine can muster to keep him as stable as he can and on the spot therapy time to try and stabilize the poor kiddo.
Eventually they get him stable enough to bring him back home but now he has mandatory therapy sessions with Black Canary. They also have a lot of emotional work ahead of them aswell and physical work trying to get a steady supply of ectoplasm so the kid doesn't starve again.
They have to fight the Fenton's for custody aswell and try and dismantle the GiW and anti ecto acts. Its a long process and they really discover just how bad things were for the kid.
They probably have a visit to frostbite too if they can get a portal and this helps him heal and make sure no more ghost medical problems occur. This also helps the family learn a lot of ghost health is tied to emotional and mental health.
Damian and Danny probably end up getting in a few fights due to Damian's jealousy aswell but eventually work though it and become closer due to it. They are inseparable. And Damian also has to learn to get used to Jason being around and an active older brother figure. Bruce apologizes for his mistreatment of the kiddo too. Their relationship stays a bit rocky for a long while but they definitely make progress.
Theres a lot of emotions and emotional conflict and things are very rocky for awhile but eventually they get to be a functional and loving family dynamic! Danny gets a happy ending in the end it's not a perfect home but he definetly wouldn't want to be anywhere else :D

Hi can you write Fiona Goode x fem reader using prompts #4, #8 and #19? Thank you <3
Sorry for the inactivity and request delay, anon, here it is!
and for other interested readers, yes, I'm back!
Hope you like it!
requests are currently closed, but news is coming and I hope to be able to reopen them soon!
enjoy!
I was really looking forward to write something about Fiona Goode (she's mother, she solos, she is the supreme and she's in charge everywhere!)
*fem!reader but you can change if you feel comfortable too!*
----------------------------------------------
4. "you okay?" 8. "yes, you can hold my hand, sweetie." 19. "yes, you can cry."
Tumblr media
Fiona wasn't a patient person, nor was she very sentimental, but oddly enough, there was something about her that woke up when she was with you. Maybe it was the age gap and the constant worry of having someone who wasn't a witch in the middle of so much violence, magic and power. Maybe it was, who knows, the idea of being able to start over, of being able to create a successor like she had never created Cordelia, maybe a way for Fiona to redeem herself from previous sins and guarantee a place in Heaven.
Or maybe it was just a good feeling, a genuine love that someone like Fiona Goode probably never felt. Not with such intensity.
But she was, when you stopped to look at her, extremely tough, cold and cautious. She didn't smile at you, she didn't even show that she loved you back, while you only knew how to admire that woman, the Supreme, the most powerful witch in the entire coven.
It was late at night and for some reason you couldn't sleep. Maybe the shock of having a ghost of the LaLauries alive and working as a servant in the house got to you. Deciding to go back to sleep, you just went down to the kitchen to get some water, taking advantage of the fact that Delphine was sleeping peacefully, and, when you were almost finished emptying the glass, the door opened and scared you more than it should have.
Suddenly, when you least expected it, Fiona was passing through the room, and was about to go upstairs when she saw you, turning those piercing eyes right in your direction.
"What the hell are you doing up at this hour, (Y\N)?" she asked, her voice altered but low, with a surprised intonation.
"I could ask you the same thing," you replied, bluntly.
She raised an eyebrow. "It's none of your business, you moron."
You waited for Fiona to turn and go to her big, beautiful room, and she did. But before you hit the stairs together, one after the other, she let out a huge sniff, which startled you.
"You okay?" you asked, not expecting her to answer. And Fiona didn't answer until you were in her room, standing in the doorway. "What were you doing out there, Fiona? I care about you, I need answers."
She sighed. "Don't tell Cordelia, she couldn't stand it. I went… well, I went to the hospital, had chemo. I can only go out at night, which is when I'm sure you, and she, are asleep."
You widened your eyes, taken by surprise. Not entirely impressed, of course, because without even knowing it, Fiona had already hinted to you that she was running out of time. And honestly, it was either you or Myrtle Snow - and Fiona would kind of do anything not to tell Myrtle Snow -.
"I'm sorry, Fiona," you said, opening her bedroom door for good and letting her sit on the bed. Left with no choice, and feeling compassion for the Supreme, you sat down beside her and sighed. "Want company? I'm not very sleepy…"
She nodded and sighed too, letting you sit closer to the side, letting your bodies almost stick together. She looked tired and sad and lonely, and again, your pity for her was greater than any hatred and indignation at the Supreme's indifference.
"Please (Y\N), promise me this will stay between us…"
"How much time do you have left?"
She shrugged. "I don't know. But what worries me isn't even the disease. I know I can lessen its effects, and it has helped me, even if it doesn't seem like it. What worries me is, in reality, the time that will pass, time is short for me. I will not die of common causes, I will be forced to leave because a Supreme will be in power after me… And you know who she is."
You looked at her. "Why don't you tell her the truth? Why do you keep all these mysteries to yourself?"
"Cordelia is more fragile than she looks, darling. If I tell her, she might internalize the powers, and everything will be even more ruined for me."
Her eyes were getting smaller and smaller, lowered, dilated, almost closed. Fiona really was fading away, little by little, and if you didn't do something, you'd have less time than you wanted.
"Could I just…"
"Yes, you can hold my hand, sweetie." She replied, smiling, as if she read your mind. Automatically, Fiona's hands sought out and reached for hers. She was looking into her eyes when she whispered, in a thin voice. "You are special to me, (Y\N). I'm a terrible person to you and I don't deserve someone like that…"
"You're not a bad person, Fiona. You just don't know how to show feelings, but I know all that even without you saying it out loud…", you smiled, squeezing her hand even tighter. "You'll never be alone again. This is just between us, and I promise you'll have me until the end, right?"
"I definitely don't deserve you, sweetie…", she laughed, hugging you and letting your head rest on her chest. "You're unlike anything I've seen before, and that intrigues me so much…"
Her voice was suddenly shaky, and you could tell she was holding in her tears. Fiona sniffed again and you looked up, smiling.
"Yes, you can cry." You whispered, still looking at her, and just as two tears fell, you used your fingers to wipe them away.
Fiona smiled, closing her eyes, and then gently leaned in to kiss you. A quick but meaningful peck.
"What was that?", you whispered, confused, laughing.
"I don't know. But I felt like it. And I wanted to try this before something happened to me."
You laughed and patted her arm lightly. "Nothing is going to happen, shut your mouth. We still have a lot more time to explore and experience other things…"
She laughed and then used her advanced strength to throw you onto the bed, getting on top of you.
"Oh really? Does that mean I can try again?"
You laughed, and kissed Fiona harder now, letting the rest of the night become history. And, well, to be honest, all you guys did least was sleep that night…

Hello,
(Sorry about anon, I'm shy)
For the speech prompt thing, most of the surprise ones would definitely work with JC, but I am particularly fond of JC&dogs/animals, so 16 or 15 depending on what way you want to go.
For disgust I am vibing with 2 and 9, and anger definitely 9 - all up to you, of course, and please don't neglect your health or your sleep schedule.
Also, if that is something you would like to try, outsider POV is always nice to read, especially if there are insights into the sects. (maybe the tailor? They do have a lot of nice robes.)
I also like ace!jc or ace!nmj, especially the way you write it. :D
But at the end of the day, I tend to like most of your stories, so don't stress yourself if you do something else than what I asked for!
Thank you very much.
Good night!
9) “You’ve been lying all this time?”
Nothing wrong with being shy, that's what anon is for after all! This turned out more sad than angry, but it is ace!jc so there's at least that. I hope you enjoy!
When Nie Mingjue dozes off, Jiang Cheng curls in on himself. He doesn’t quite feel dirty but he doesn’t feel particularly clean or comfortable either, and he’s itching to get up and clean himself thoroughly.
But that would wake Nie Mingjue and Jiang Cheng can’t bring himself to do that. So he stays curled up on his side, feeling way too vulnerable without any clothes on and he tries his best not to cry.
It’s not always this bad after they have sex but it seems like today is a rather bad day for Jiang Cheng. Nie Mingjue still has a hand on his hip and even that is almost too much for Jiang Cheng at the moment.
“You’re tense,” Nie Mingjue suddenly mutters, turning over to curl around Jiang Cheng’s back and Jiang Cheng tenses even further when Nie Mingjue’s cock nudges against his ass.
Thankfully he’s not hard, though; it’s the only reason Jiang Cheng manages to not pull away from him.
“I’m fine,” Jiang Cheng presses out but he has to close his eyes against the sting of tears.
Sometimes he just wants to tell Nie Mingjue the truth, but he never does. He loves him too much to lose him and so he always keeps quiet.
“Alright,” Nie Mingjue says, easily believing Jiang Cheng as he presses a sleepy kiss to Jiang Cheng’s nape.
They fall into silence again and Jiang Cheng tries to not let it bother him that he’s stillnaked but it’s not really working. He can’t relax like this, can’t fall asleep like this but he also can’t get up to get dressed.
Nie Mingjue never cares if they are naked and it would be weird for Jiang Cheng to get up now.
“Something’s bothering you,” Nie Mingjue mumbles—clearly not yet asleep—and he moves his arm to sling it around Jiang Cheng’s middle, pulling him more securely against his chest. “What’s going on?”
“Nothing,” Jiang Cheng gives back and prays that Nie Mingjue will just let it drop for once.
“Clearly it’s not nothing,” Nie Mingjue sighs and soothingly moves his hand on Jiang Cheng’s stomach.
It would have a better effect if there was a shirt between Nie Mingjue’s hand and his stomach, and it would definitely have a better effect if Jiang Cheng were wearing boxers, just so that he doesn’t have to worry if Nie Mingjue will stray too low with his touch.
“Did you not like what we did today?” Nie Mingjue asks and there’s already the first note of worry in his voice and it’s exactly what Jiang Cheng doesn’t want.
“It was fine,” he lies straight through his teeth and hopes that Nie Mingjue will just let it drop.
There’s a brief pause—making Jiang Cheng believe that they will finally move on from this topic—before Nie Mingjue says “My heart, why don’t you ever tell me what you want to do?”
Jiang Cheng goes still, tries to not even breathe for a moment, before he takes a deliberately measured breath.
“What do you mean?” he asks, as if there could be any doubt to what Nie Mingjue wants to know, but it seems like there is no way out of this now.
“You always ask me what I want to do, but you never said what you like, what you prefer. Do you want us to switch it up sometimes? Do you want us to try something else?” Nie Mingjue asks him and Jiang Cheng’s heart starts to beat faster in his chest.
He has always been afraid that this conversation would come up eventually, but he managed to derail it until now. It seems like his luck has finally run out.
“No, it’s fine,” Jiang Cheng says, closing his eyes when they start to burn again.
He doesn’t want to have this conversation, he doesn’t want to lie to Nie Mingjue and he finally, finallywants to put on some clothes.
“Are you sure?” Nie Mingjue continues to prod and Jiang Cheng wiggles out of his embrace.
“I need to put on some clothes,” Jiang Cheng mutters, as he walks across the room, and he can feel Nie Mingjue’s worried eyes on him the whole time.
It’s only when Jiang Cheng is wearing his usual sleep clothes that he feels a little bit better.
“Wanyin, what’s going on?” Nie Mingjue wants to know, sitting up in the bed and Jiang Cheng is just lucky that the blanket pools in his lap because Nie Mingjue is still very naked.
“It’s nothing. Nothing is going on,” Jiang Cheng says, but he doesn’t quite feel like going back to bed right now and so he stays in front of his dresser.
“Clearly it is, if you can’t even come back to bed,” Nie Mingjue says, much too observant and Jiang Cheng crosses his arms in front of his chest.
“I can come back to bed just fine,” he bites out, but he makes no move to actually go there and Nie Mingjue raises a judging eyebrow at him.
“I see that,” he then says before he gets out of bed with a sigh.
Jiang Cheng silently watches him as he puts on some underwear and he can’t deny that he immediately feels a little bit better.
It makes him feel safe enough that he gets back into bed, though he keeps an eye on Nie Mingjue. Jiang Cheng knows that the topic is far from over, but with both of them at least no longer naked Jiang Cheng feels that he can maybe lie a little bit better about this now.
Especially when he pulls the blanket up all the way to his chin, despite still sitting up in bed.
“Why won’t you just tell me the truth,” Nie Mingjue sighs as he watches Jiang Cheng, and he warily sits down at the edge of bed.
It looks like he’s ready to get up at any sign that Jiang Cheng feels uncomfortable and it almost makes Jiang Cheng cry again.
“What do you like, Wanyin? What do you want to do? Has there been anything you didn’t like?” Nie Mingjue relentlessly asks and Jiang Cheng shrinks further into himself with every question that comes out of Nie Mingjue’s mouth.
“Look at you, Wanyin, clearly something is wrong. Just tell me what it is!” Nie Mingjue says when he notices how Jiang Cheng tries to melt into the bedding and his voice is getting louder as he speaks.
It’s enough to make Jiang Cheng’s heart beat faster in response and he can’t quite meet Nie Mingjue’s eyes anymore.
“Why are you not saying anything?”
“I don’t like any of it!” Jiang Cheng finally shouts, and then he clasps a hand over his mouth.
He never wanted to say that, never wanted to admit to that out loud, but he can’t take the words back and he can see how they hit Nie Mingjue.
“What?” Nie Mingjue breathes out, clearly taken just as off guard as Jiang Cheng is with his outburst. “You’ve been lying all this time?”
Jiang Cheng knows that he has two options now and one of them is going to break him. Either he tells the truth and admits that he doesn’t like having sex at all and he’s going to lose Nie Mingjue over it, or he continues to lie and he has to suffer through it again and again.
He has been doing the latter for years, with partners who weren’t as important to him as Nie Mingjue is and he can damn well continue to do so, if it means that he gets to keep Nie Mingjue.
“No, I haven’t—I—don’t listen to me, I’m tired,” Jiang Cheng tries, but of course it doesn’t work.
He already admitted it after all, and Nie Mingjue is not going to let this go without a proper explanation.
But if Jiang Cheng explains—if he admits that he doesn’t want to have sex—Nie Mingjue is going to leave him. He’s going to leave him and Jiang Cheng will lose the best thing in his life and he can’t do it.
That thought paired with Nie Mingjue’s hurt and clearly disbelieving look makes Jiang Cheng burst out into tears.
“Oh no, my heart, come here,” Nie Mingjue breathes out immediately and he scoots forward to pull Jiang Cheng into a hug.
Jiang Cheng clings to him, because there’s a very real danger that this will be the last time he’s allowed to do that and he can’t bear that thought at all.
“Please don’t leave me,” he gets out between his sobs and they only intensify when Nie Mingjue doesn’t say anything but simply continues to pat his back.
“Wanyin, won’t you tell me what’s going on now?” Nie Mingjue asks when Jiang Cheng finally calms down at least a little bit and Jiang Cheng knows that he has to now but it doesn’t make this any easier to talk about.
“What do you mean you don’t like any of it?” Nie Mingjue gently prods when Jiang Cheng fails to find his words and Jiang Cheng pulls away from him.
He couldnt bear for Nie Mingjue to be the one to pull away.
“I mean just that,” Jiang Cheng whispers, scrubbing a hand over his face to get rid of the last lingering tears. “I don’t like any of it. I don’t like—having sex,” he breathes out and he braces himself for Nie Mingjue’s reaction but when nothing comes he forces himself to continue. “But you do and it’s okay, it’s fine what we’ve been doing, it’s not—not a problem,” Jiang Cheng gets out, though his voice breaks on the lie.
“Of course it’s a problem, Wanyin! If you don’t like having sex then why are you doing it?”
“Because you do!” Jiang Cheng hotly gives back because what other reason could there possibly be. “It’s either that or losing you and I’m not going to take that chance!”
“Losing me?” Nie Mingjue asks and he sounds honestly taken aback. “Why would you lose me over that?”
“Oh, come on, Mingjue, be honest. Would you really stay with me if we don’t have sex? Hell, you don’t even tell me you love me outside of it. You always only compliment me when we’re in bed together, so it doesn’t take a genius to count one and one together!”
“Is—that what you think?” Nie Mingjue sounds horrified as he asks that question and Jiang Cheng clenches his jaw.
“What else is there to think?”
“I love you,” Nie Mingjue says. “You’re perfect and beautiful and wonderful and I love you!”
“Yeah, right,” Jiang Cheng bitterly whispers and turns away from Nie Mingjue. “We should both just stop with these lies.”
It hurts him to say this, hurts him more than he ever expected it would, but he’s also tired of this. He’s tired of enduring this for Nie Mingjue’s sake and he’s tired of feeling bad und uneasy in his own skin and he’s also tired of Nie Mingjue pretending that there’s anything more to this.
“Wanyin,” Nie Mingjue says much more determinedly than before as he grabs Jiang Cheng’s chin to make him look at him. “I love you. I love you and it’s my fault that I never said it under different circumstances before. That’s on me, just like with the compliments. But it doesn’t change the fact that I think and feel like that, even if we don’t have sex.”
His words bring tears to Jiang Cheng’s eyes again, but he doesn’t dare to trust this. Not yet.
“Never, Mingjue,” Jiang Cheng says, and he forces himself to look at Nie Mingjue. “I never like to have sex,” he reiterates his point and Nie Mingjue nods.
“Okay.”
“Okay? How can this be okay?” Jiang Cheng demands to know, because he knows for a fact that Nie Mingjue loves to have sex.
“Because it’s what makes you comfortable. So of course it’s okay. I wouldn’t have forced you to begin with, if I had known.”
“You didn’t force me,” Jiang Cheng immediately says because he needs Nie Mingjue to know that.
“But you didn’t quite come willingly, did you?” Nie Mingjue lowly asks. “You thought you had to. It wasn’t because you wanted to.”
“That’s not on you, though,” Jiang Cheng reassures him. “That’s—I mean I could have said something. You didn’t—it wasn’t rape if you think along those lines right now,” Jiang Cheng says, because he fears that this might just be where Nie Mingjue’s thoughts went.
“Wasn’t it? I coerced you at best.”
“No,” Jiang Cheng decidedly says and rises up on his knees to put his hands to Nie Mingjue’s cheeks. “You didn’t coerce me. This is on me for not saying anything.”
Nie Mingjue doesn’t seem happy at all, but he raises his hands to gently encircle Jiang Cheng’s wrists.
“Let’s not—agree to disagree, okay? But more importantly let’s move on from this.” He pauses for just long enough to make Jiang Cheng’s heart drop. “Let’s go on and find a balance that works for both of us, okay?”
“There’s no—” ‘balance’ Jiang Cheng wants to say, because nothing related to sex will ever work for him, but Nie Mingjue shuts him up with a soft kiss.
“A balance where I get re-acquainted with my hands, you don’t have to do anything that that makes you uncomfortable, and where I tell you regularly how much I love you, okay?”
His voice is soft enough that tears spill over again and Nie Mingjue leans in to kiss them right off Jiang Cheng’s face.
“I love you,” Nie Mingjue whispers against his cheek and Jiang Cheng clings to him.
“I love you, too,” he gets out, and he can’t believe that he gets to keep this. That he should be so lucky. “I’m so sorry.”
“There’s nothing to be sorry for,” Nie Mingjue reminds him and moves his kisses to Jiang Cheng’s mouth. “Just please tell me in the future.”
“I promise,” Jiang Cheng immediately agrees, because he doesn’t actually want to go through anything like this ever again.
“Okay,” Nie Mingjue says with a soft smile and pushes some hair out of Jiang Cheng’s face. “Now, do you want to get back to sleep, or should I leave for tonight?” he asks and Jiang Cheng can’t help it, he throws himself forward to hide his face in Nie Mingjue’s neck.
“Don’t go,” Jiang Cheng whispers. “Just—can you keep some clothes on?”
“Of course, my heart,” Nie Mingjue agrees and gently pushes him away. “Let me get a shirt, okay?”
Jiang Cheng scoots away so that he can get up, and meanwhile Jiang Cheng gets under the blanket again. He instantly reaches out for Nie Mingjue when he comes back and Jiang Cheng pulls him close.
“Cuddling is okay then, I take it,” Nie Mingjue mutters, a smile tugging at his mouth and Jiang Cheng huffs.
“Cuddling is more than okay,” he gives back and slots himself against Nie Mingjue.
Now that he knows that nothing will happen, it’s much nicer; Jiang Cheng doesn’t have to be on guard, doesn’t have to expect the worst and he can just enjoy this.
“I love you,” Nie Mingjue whispers into his hair and Jiang Cheng presses a kiss to Nie Mingjue’s shoulder.
“I love you, too,” he says again and he can’t believe that he gets to have this, even after everything. “Thank you for not leaving me.”
“Never, my heart,” Nie Mingjue gives back and then they fall into silence and soon enough they fall asleep as well.
