I need to talk about Cash Piggott and how important his character is to the asexual community.

I absolutely adore the fact that Cash calls people out on their acephobia and never, ever apologises for who he is. He doesn't think he's broken.

In season one, we see Darren say "you know what, I think there's something really fucking wrong with you, Cash," and Cash immediately, with no hesitation, screams "well fuck you then".

In season two, we see Dusty say that he's being selfish asking Darren to give up sex and he immediately stands up and says "fuck this" because he knows he doesn't have to listen to people making him feel bad about his sexuality.

And when he's talking to his nan about it, Cash says "it's not fair, I would do anything, why does it have to be the one thing I can't change about myself?"

In every single one of these scenes, we never see Heartbreak High blame Cash for his sexuality. We never see him apologise to anyone for not feeling sexual attraction, and we never see him feel guilty about it, or try to change who he is.

CA$H recognises that his sexuality might be difficult for people to accept and understand, but he never lets other people make him feel like he's broken, or flawed. And that's so powerful to see.

Because asexual people are not broken. And we can't be fixed. And we are not being selfish for putting in boundaries.

I absolutely adore Douglas Piggott. He means the world to me, and this representation is so, so important.

It's Ace Awareness Week!!!

Jon is on the surface the stereotypical ace character- completley depraved of humanity, cold towards everyone around him and too busy for relationships, but through the story we watch him grow as a person, struggle with his own humanity and his disconnection with people around him. We see not just that he cares, but that he loves all those people around him and that he latches onto them till the very end.

I'm not that good at putting my thoughts into words, but I belive it goes without saying that, to me, as an ace person myself, who has struggled for so long with my own humanity purely because I've never seen a character like Jon, and to many other ace people, having a character like this, in somewhat-popular media, who has the same struggles as many asexual people (though ours don't feature the Eldritch horror, I hope), is SO important and so humanizing.

I don't know if Jonny Sims knew what impact making a main character of a horror podcast asexual would have on ace listeners - he probably didn't. But I hope that he found out.

Representation matters, you are not alone and stay safe.

I just absolutely love writing some fluff with our aroace king. So I really hope you enjoy this little image for him ^^

summary: dancing with Alastor is something not everyone can say they have done before.

The first time Alastor asked you to dance, it was a shock to be sure.

You weren't the best when it came to dancing, but Alastor was patient and waited for you to be comfortable in the position you'd dance in.

It was fun to say the least, even if you had accidentally stepped on his feet on more than one occasion. He wouldn't be mad, but would limp a little after the session.

Alastor always found it endearing how much you would try to learn the dances he would show you, and would try your hardest to not step on his feet. The latter part was harder said than done.

Sometimes, if he was in a good mood, he would cuddle up to you when you're dancing, with his head in your shoulder and arms wrapped around your shoulders.

He would never admit it, but these dancing sessions would remind him of his mother. You remind him of her, with how much you care for him and how much you show your love to him.

You had always seen Alastor as a son figure, he reminded you of when you were human and how much you wanted a child. You did get what you wanted, but it was in Hell that you felt you found the family you've always wanted.

Alastor thought it was sweet, that whenever he was down or showing signs of being aggressive, you'd always be there for him, and have always calmed him down, but would always respect his wishes to be left alone if he feels he's gonna snap.

The dances you and Alastor share, are memories the two of you would hold dear to each other for as long as you possibly can.

It's short, I know, but it's cute. Alastor has another parental figure (head cannon Rosie to be like a mother to Alastor).

Don't mind me, I'm just thinking about Douglas "Cash" Piggott - the asexual eshay at Hartley High School that does not care about sex in the slightest, and is even slightly repulsed and confused by it - sitting through weeks and weeks of SLT classes, learning about things that do not interest him at all and will not benefit him in the slightest all because he likes looking at Darren's face.

That's the sweetest thing I've ever heard.

And, yes, I know he was forced into SLT with his fellow "map bitch" victims but I still think it's nice that he attended and still listened to what was being taught. Because I, a fellow asexual person, sure as hell wouldn't have been comfortable covering those topics.

I heard many of my asexual friends and people that I hang out with say: “Maybe I’m broken”. “I thought I was broken for a long time”. It breaks my heart.

For any that need to hear this: you are not broken. You are beautiful, and wonderful, and perfect. Not wanting or not needing people in that way is normal and okay. It’s not your fault that you don’t get enough representation in media and popular culture to normalize being YOU. And YOU are wonderful just the way you are. Keep on rockin’!

Probably the most salient moments of our story Think of Me, from DC Pride 2022, written, drawn and coloured by us, lettered by the amazing Frank Cvetkovic.

It meant a huge deal to us when @whatthe-shea​ asked us to be the ones to bring Connor Hawke out of the closet as asexual. We’re both asexual ourselves, so having the chance to broaden representation in superhero comics was absolutely great.

The monologue was really important to us; not only was the letter format our way of referencing Connor’s old habits of writing letters to his mom from his adventures, but it was also the most elegant way to thread a bunch of different needles in terms of establishing Connor’s current continuity, bring him out of the closet, and try to explain at least one of the ways being asexual can feel in an allosexual society to help readers who might have little experience with asexuality feel like they could relate a bit more.
