X-Men ‘97 episode 1x3 thoughts! Just wanted to elaborate a bit on some of the stuff we saw in Madelyne’s hellscape, namely the nightmare visions for Gambit and Morph, since it feels like there’s some room to interpret with those two as compared to the other members that have had their inner conflicts explored a bit already or are pretty straightforward.
With Gambit, the vision of Rogue and Magneto does seem to go beyond ‘the woman I love is hooking up with another man’ and hits at some deeper insecurity about himself and his character. The vision of Rogue is calling him out as not a good person, not a worthy person, at least not compared to Magneto. It seems like deep down, Gambit does feel an admiration for Magneto despite their previous status as enemies; he’s convicted, he’s a leader, he’s a savior of mutants, and some part of Gambit ranks himself as lesser by comparison, just a ‘nasty, thieving critter’. Magneto is a hero, and by implication, Gambit is not. That’s kinda sad to think about, since Gambit has helped save the world multiple times at this point and has made plenty of selfless actions in the process, but he has always held himself at a bit of a remove from the team and the cause they’re fighting for. Maybe that’s finally starting to get to him, or maybe has always bugged him on some level but his difficulties with trust have never let him overcome that self-enforced distance. If this is laying the groundwork for some sort of character arc, one where Gambit does seek to become more of what he sees as a worthy man, more of a hero, and whether or not that takes a positive or negative trajectory for him, I’m super interested to see it.
As for Morph... Listen, I've been making Morph x Wolverine jokes just like everyone else, they've been Like That since the OG series, but at this point I'm genuinely and seriously sure that Morph is in love with Logan and that's the core of their nightmare vision. Sure, the obvious terror fuel is their Sinister-based trauma, but listen to what Sinister said to them and the context in which he said it: They just left a conversation where they, Logan, and Gambit were discussing relationship woes, and after Logan ditched them to go check on Jean, they looked bummed and said "and then there was Morph." Left alone. Then the visions start, and Morph gets a very naked Logan posing sexily in the shower. Sure they try to make a very "boys in the locker room" sort of joke out of it, but come on Morph, there is no heterosexual explanation (and I do not say that lightly) for going to bug your buddy in the shower by offering to help him with "hard to reach spaces." Then the Sinister quote: "Always with the jokes, eh, Morph? As if I don't know. As if we ALL don't know." I genuinely think Morph is mega gay for Wolverine and is trying to hide it from everyone badly. They may all be mutants, but it is still the 90s, and just because they all have being a mutant in common with each other doesn't mean they're all on the same page in terms of queerness. Again, if this is the case, it's sad to think about. At this point in the animated canon, Morph and Wolverine make FAR more sense as a pairing than Logan and Jean ever did. Logan never gave up on Morph after they were brainwashed in the OG series, went to the literal ends of the earth to bring them back home, so it's no wonder if Morph caught Big Feelings about it but is scared to actually be honest about them.

OK, so this is my first post EVER since I joined Tumblr like ten years ago. Always been a lurker, enjoying all of the wonderful things here, the gifs, fics, ships, art, all the knowledge and all the amazing heritage posts, but never posting and hardly reblogging, I don't know why, was always afraid I would make a mistake or reblogg incorrectly...
Anyway, the reason this is my first time posting is because THAT amazing moment that happened a week ago, and I've been losing my mind ever since, and unfortunately I have nobody to share this excitement with that will understand... So I had to get it out somehow, and here seems like the perfect place to do so.
I don't know if anybody will read this or pay it any attention, but never mind, I just have TO. GET. IT ALL. OUT!
So I've been a loyal fan of 9-1-1 this past six years, got hooked to these kind of first responders dramas, also Station 19 and then of course Lone Star. I fell in love with the writing, the drama and action, the characters of course, the emotional and moving stories, both of the regular cast and the people in the emergencies (am not afraid to admit that I cried more than a few times, especially when I was pregnant... woooh, that was a tough season for me).
Anyway, like everyone else, got invested in Buck's storyline and of course hopped on the Buddie train in season 2. And obviously there was something between them, and the fandom always clowned themselves that "in the next season SOMETHING is going to happen!" and I always wanted to believe it, and also fooled myself a few times but always was the cold harsh realist and realised it was not going to happen... But enjoyed the ride nonetheless, read amazing fics, saw wonderful fanart, read interesting breakdowns and analysis.
And then 704 happened and I'm not joking or exaggerating, my life changed!
Confirming that Buck is Bi was amazing! I'm ashamed to admit that I really thought it won't happen, EVER! So I still can't believe it actually happened (thank you soooo much ABC!) and like a lot of you, I've been on cloud nine this past week and can't wait for tomorrows episode (also not from the US), literally counting down the hours.
And look, I love Buddie, I really do, but I fell in love with TEVAN (my favourite one yet) 😍 and been OBSESSED with them this past week. Just from those few moments between them and what we barely know that is going to happen the next episode, I truly fell in love with them and really hope they make it as far as they can. I think its an amazing thing for Buck and also CANT. STOP. WATCHING THE KISS! The actors did an incredible job, especially Oliver, also with his spoken support of the storyline and his love for Buck. Such a KING! So this whole thing is huge.
And I have a one-year-old, my life is hectic with taking care of a little human being, a hubby who is also very busy, work, family and a million other things and this past year with a heavy heart I kinda neglected reading fics, and it was my main hobby, my escape, my one and constant thing in my LIFE since I was 12. I do read here and there, but not like I used to, reading hours and hours and into the night, multi chapters and long oneshots, in multiple fandoms, and now whenever I do get to read something once In a blue moon I'm not fully invested or enjoying it because either I'm tired or have something else more important to do. And unfortunately, eventually I noticed that I lost this fire, the passion in me and it left me sad and heartbroken...
And then something incredible happened. Ever since that earth-shattering kiss, the fire and passion came back! Holy shit! I've been reading and ENJOYING fics nonstop this whole week, I can't concentrate on work thinking about everything and reading in-between tasks, I use every single free minute I have to search new fics and scroll through the tags, I go to sleep late because I need to read just one more fic(!!!) even tough I have to wake up very early in the morning and I DON'T EVEN CARE. I'm thinking about it sooo much and imagining new scenarios in my head, and feeling giddy and happy, in a good mood a lot of the time, more optimistic, knowing I have a new and exciting place I can "escape" to, like I had in the past.
Its not that i'm not happy, I have an amazing son and a wonderful husband and I cherish every moment with them, but these are hard and difficult times and life can be hard and stressful and I'm a different kind of happy... So these past few days have been nourishment for my soul and my mood, it sounds so silly but its true! I'm feeling a bit like my old self and it's amazing.
And if someone did read this or did pay attention and got to this point, sorry for the long rant and thank you so much for the patience and understanding 🙏 I love you and wish you a wonderful weekend and happy Buck's-first-date-with-a-man day! 🥰
So I want to thank, from the bottom of my heart, ABC, Oliver, Lou and you crazy lot for resurrecting my old fangirl self 😌 I'm so grateful for all your posts, your takes, your similar enjoyment and of course your amazing fics you're writing and sharing 🩵

literally all I'm asking for is tia pepa or literally anyone to tell Eddie what to look for in a forever partner or whATEVER because he's been out of the scene of looking for something serious for so long.
and then we get a montage while pepa or whoever is listing things like "someone where you don't have to strain to laugh and smile and force yourself to be comfortable with" "a person that you can see yourself just sitting there in peaceful silence with" "someone who's always there for you unconditionally" "a nice little lovely lady who loves Chris and you and knows how to balance time with him and you and not be overwhelming or pushy and insert herself into your life"
and the whole time we just see multiple scenes of buck being that person and we get shots of all the buddie heart eyes and secret smiles when no one's looking and when they're finished listing all those things, Eddie's smiling distantly and is just like "huh. so that's what Ive been looking for"
and then the listing person is like "yeah so hurry up and get out there, these things take years to get to that point"
and Eddie just leaves and he goes to find buck but oH NO BUCK ISNT AT HIS LOFT SO EDDIE RUNS TO MADDIE'S HOUSE AND OOPS HE JUST MISSED HIM BUT MADDIE SAYS THAT HE SHOUDL BE ON HOS WAY TO EDDIES HOUSE RN ACTUALLY SO EDDIE GOES BACK HOME AND HE WALKS IN AND BUCK IS STANDING IN THE ENTRYWAY AND HE TURNS AROUND AND EDDIE STOPS ON THE WALKWAY AND HES SWEATING AND OUT OF BREATH AND BUCK WALKS NACK OUT TO HIM AND IS LIKE "Maddie and I had a talk about, well, a lot of things but Eddie I've realised that you were mentioned a lot. I mean, I mention you a lot when I'm talking to Maddie...and hen...and chim...and Bobby and Athena.... hell even Carla... but the point is, I'm always talking about you and when I'm not and thinking about you or Chris or both. because ever since you let me meet him, and join you two, my life has changed for the better. Eddie I can't imagine my life without you... and Chris. and I'm not sure why it just hit me now but I don't think it's— I mean, it's not just me admiring you, or wanting to be close to you. you're my family, Eddie. you and Chris are the ones I chose, and will continue to choose everyday of my life. and I just need to say that now because it's burning me up inside and what I'm trying to say is—”
and then Eddie steps closer to buck and puts his hand on bucks shoulder, briefly hesitating before shifting to cup his jaw. and both of them are holding their breaths. and both of them can't look away. and then Eddie puts his other hand on the other side of bucks face and buck grips his elbows and they are sharing breaths now because somehow they got too close to have their own individual source of oxygen.
and then Eddie says "buck. evan buckley I choose you too. always."
and then they just know and it's all over from there.
the crescendo hits and they're together. someone leaned in first. or maybe they both did, who knows, who cares. but their lips are together. they're pressed together as much as physically possible. and it's everything and more.
they pull apart and brown meets blue and then they're both grinning like they won the lottery. because, not to be cheesy, they kinda did.
so yeah, that's what I want.

The Fortuneteller
(A title which I am itching to divide into three words instead of two because boy does 'Fortuneteller' look stupid - seriously, stare at it for a bit and see how fast it starts looking like Fortun Eteller)
The last couple of episodes have had a contemplative character, so I'm rooting for this one to be a silly one. Also more Sokka please. Poor guy gets demoted to one liners in the B-plot whenever Aang is the main focus.
Episode Time!
Tumblr media
We start this episode off with a potential love interest for Sokka.
I had completely forgotten that Katara used to have a necklace. I'd also completely forgotten that she'd lost it. When did she lose it?
Tumblr media
Aang-o-vision has a pretty heavy rose-tinted filter - literally.
Tumblr media
Told you it was a love interest.
The NOISE Sokka makes when the fish slaps him! I love it. Hang on I'm going to rewind and listen to it again.
Yep. Still as good the second time.
Oh wow! Aang just got Momo-zoned. Gotta say I'm not a fan of a romantic relationship between Aang and Katara at this point, so I'm all for some Momo-zonage.
Platypus bear! Finally some hybrid animals. I was beginning to wonder if that would ever come back.
Tumblr media
Is this guy a martial arts master or an idiot?
I'm leaning towards idiot.
Tumblr media
Friendly reminder of Appa's size. That's a lot of molars. No canines or incisors? Guess he's an obligate herbivore.
Is sniffing eggs something that people do? I get sniffing melons or other produce, but eggs?
Yep. Floppy hat guy is an idiot.
Tumblr media
Aang buddy you might want to get that checked out.
And with a mighty squelch, the egg fulfills this episode's Beat Up Sokka quota.
Appa shakes!
Those are weird ducks.
Tumblr media
I don't know a thing about anime, but that's the most anime-looking guy I've seen in this show. Is this show an anime?
Tumblr media
Meng-o-vision is red-tinted. Probably doesn't bode well.
Also, Meng could give Zuko some lessons on how to style Pipi longstocking hair. Someone with more photoshop skills than me needs to make a Zuko with Meng hair.
"Don't be modest, they're huge!" Presented without comment. I'm not going to say a thing. But we all thought it.
Katara is totally the kind of girl who would fall for fortune telling. We've seen (multiple times) that she is gullible. Actually, now that I think about it, we've had multiple episodes where Katara gets swept up in something a healthy dose of skepticism would have guarded her from - Jet and The Great Divide come to mind. The writers are really hammering the 'Katara is susceptible to romantic nonsense and Sokka is a science-minded skeptic' message home. Is this going to play some bigger part in the show going forward? Why else would we be on version number (arguably) 3 of this same plot?
Aang and Sokka took off their shoes, but Katara didn't. Huh.
Tumblr media
Pinky out. Classy.
I am not digging the Aang x Katara stuff in this episode. I'm with Sokka on this one - let's pretend it was a stellar bathroom break.
Aunt Wu is being unnecessarily antagonistic to Sokka. First he gets an egg on his head, then Momo steals his bean puffs, now Aunt Wu tells him his life's going to suck. I should have been more specific when I hoped for a Sokka episode. I didn't mean a beat up Sokka episode.
Aang. Priorities honey. Honestly, Aang casually dismissing his destiny after all that build up did get a laugh out of me.
Tumblr media
A god-like figure coming to have his fortune read and only wanting to know about his love life would give me a headache too.
Add malicious signage to the Beating Up Sokka list.
"The fluffy bunny cloud forecasts doom and destruction." I bet that's the first time that sentence has appeared in the English language.
These people are stupid. Blazing Saddles style 'common clay of the New West' stupid. It would take, what, a day? to run a visual check on the volcano. But nope. Too much work. Listen to me I'm morphing into Sokka.
Tumblr media
Katara giving off some serious fangirl vibes.
Katara is officially addicted to fortune telling.
Tumblr media
Live footage of me watching these village idiots.
Add duck to the list of Things Which Assault Sokka. Gotta love those duck noises though.
Tumblr media
Sokka is getting dangerously close to advising negging here. Also Meng deserves better. Her poor pigtails droop in disappointment. Girl has sentient hair - she deserves better.
Papaya? When you don't like papaya? Just because some old lady said so? Too far. That's not even teenage nonsense; that's tweenage nonsense. I kind of feel like sending Katara to her room. Actually it's just like that one line Log Man said in the Jet episode. Something like 'He tells us what to do and how to think and things all turn out right.' Outsourcing your decision-making. Which, by the way, is both nonsense and cult-like. Then again, the lost boys freedom fighters pretty much worshipped Jet the way this village worships Aunt Wu, so... parallels?
Tumblr media
So if this guy got the panda lily himself, doesn't that mean that he recently went up the mountain? Couldn't he have had a peak inside while he was up there? Would have taken an extra 20 seconds.
"Flowers are fine once you're married" Somebody get this boy to Victorian times. If he ever sees an ankle he'll self-combust.
You have a flying bison. Why don't you fly up instead of climb?
Tumblr media
This is totally live action fire copy-pasted in to the animation. There has got to be a more technical term for that than copy-pasted.
Raise your hand if you saw the twist with the volcano coming. (I did I swear. Blue spirit was an outlier).
Forget Appa, why didn't Aang just fly up?
"They just won't listen to reason." "But they will listen to Aunt Wu." So the mountain comes to Mohammed. I guess talking to people in a way they understand / will listen to is a good lesson for an avatar to learn. I thought he'd learned that one in The Great Divide though. Either way this episode is getting increasingly frustrating.
Tumblr media
Can Meng get a hug? She seems astonishingly self-aware and emotionally mature for a kid. Also way too smart for this podunk town. I may rescind the hug in light of the stalking.
Tumblr media
Well, it's not exactly subtle, but at least volcanic doom isn't a fluffy bunny.
Tumblr media
Look at those yummy purples. Finally an episode where it's light enough to have a beautiful sky. My collection of wallpapers was suffering.
Digging a lava trench might work, if the volcano is going to put out a gallon or two of lava. This must be a baby volcano.
Nevermind.
The ashes effect feels oddly 3-D.
Tumblr media
I guess to an avatar this kind of challenge is small potatoes.
Totally ignoring the Aang x Katara stuff for a minute, I'm with Sokka on this one too, because I also had forgotten that Aang is a superbender. He didn't even need to go glowy.
Tumblr media
If I lived in this village that redesign would absolutely give me nightmares. Are those mega claws of doom structurally sound?
Tumblr media
I am going to punch this man.
Aunt Wu's final speech to Aang makes me think that at least she's not indulging in her own product as it were. I suppose a con artist (whose services are free, so, just jerking around a village for shits and giggles?) is better than an actual believer?
Tumblr media
MENG!!!
Final Thoughts
This episode has me thinking about stories. Part of the reason Katara wants to believe in nonsense like fortune telling is because she is someone inclined to listen to / believe in stories. I think the opening monologue of the first episode mentioned something about her grandmother's stories. Katara was raised on stories and very much took them to heart as more than just entertainment. And you can't blame her for believing the conceits of stories could be possible in their world, not after the events of episode one dumped the star of those stories in her lap. Just so long as she doesn't confuse a belief in stories with a belief in happy endings. There is a war going on in their world, and judging by the stuff that the show did not shy away from discussing or implying in episodes like The Southern Air Temple and The Storm, I am willing to bet good money that there will be a couple of unhappy endings ahead. Not permanently unhappy; this is a kids' cartoon. But there will probably be setbacks and disappointments.
Would Katara have astrology nonsense in her dating profile?
"The fluffy bunny cloud forecasts doom and destruction" is going to be incorporated into my daily vocabulary.
Platypus + bear are interesting choices for a hybrid animal, since a platypus is about 15 normal animals smashed together anyway. A platypus bear is the swiss army knife of animals. Or the Mr. Potato Head.
At first I thought that Aunt Wu was a benevolent meddler (see putting together the couple with the panda lily), but she also advised that one guy to never bathe, which doesn't benefit anyone in any way that I can see. So I've concluded that she's a Bumi level ("it's pretty fun messing with people") shit-stirrer instead. Her services may be free, but she manages to pay for a very big house, an assistant in Meng, and anime guy the bodyguard(?) so I guess grateful villagers give her donations? However she's doing it, she's got it made.
There was some sort of running theme with those large blue-billed ducks that lived in the village. If that was meant to have more meaning than just a running visual gag, I didn't pick up on it.
Meng had a surprising amount of depth and insight for what (I assume) is a one-episode character. Stalking aside, I liked her.
This episode's humourous look at the stupidity of the village (in fact the science denial of the village) is not as funny as it would have been in a pre-covid denial, pre-antivax, pre-"global warming is a hoax" world. A shallow viewing of this episode is still funny because the villagers are just SO dumb (except Meng), but the more you think about the villagers' actions and the conclusions they reach at the end of the episode (to not change AT ALL - at least the tribes made up in The Great Divide, a similarly idiot-filled episode), the more you morph into Sokka. These people have denied reality so hard that it's frustrating rather than funny to watch. Their head in the sand approach is not cute anymore.
I really wanted to like this episode. Like I said before, I wanted a goofy fun episode after the one-two punch of the last two episodes, but this one rapidly went from goofy to frustrating. I can't tell if it's because I'm not the target audience (i.e. too adult) or if it's because much of the world is currently drowning in various forms of misinformation and science denial. I know this episode isn't supposed to be deep - it's supposed to be setup for Aang & Katara as a (hopefully very distant) couple. That's all. And the message at the end about shaping your own destiny (i.e. taking an active part in your life) is a good message, and thematically relevant to the avatar, who presumably is at least somewhat responsible for shaping the whole world's destiny. But damn if this episode doesn't make my teeth itch.
Pros: Sokka had some great lines. Appa got to shake. There were pretty backgrounds. The noise Sokka made when he got slapped by the fish was a thing of beauty.
Cons: Aang and Katara are not allowed to date until they're 35. I will smack each villager individually upside the head with a science textbook. Meng deserved better.
Maybe I'm just not in the mood for this episode. I'll stick it on the rewatch list just for the Sokka fish noise.

good [insert time of day here] i realised i never thought to ask you amid my delight of you being the most interactive follower i have that isnt an irl friend do YOU have ocs or blorbos. i wish to know. for reasons.
OH hello yes thank you for asking!!! I have several OCs but most of the time I simply Do Not Explain on here; I have lots of ideas and doodles but I make it mostly for myself and don't think to share — doesn't mean I don't want to tho! exhibit A: this absolutely massive post I'm about to make lmao. putting it under a read more bc Oh Boy, the floodgates have been opened
most of my OCs are for two different projects I have: The Visitors and my D&D Dark Star Campaign.
The Visitors is just a lil worldbuilding project I've been chewing on for.... oh wow, over a decade at this point??? I love all the OCs I have in there very very much, but they're definitely never intended to go in an actual story, I just enjoy the speculative biology and character / world building process.
Val is one of my oldest OCs, and she's changed SO MUCH over the years! nowadays, she's a sort of insect/dinosaur mashup alien who uses gravity warping magic and a very large axe to hunt demons. a huge issue for magic users of her species is keeping cool, as magic generates heat and can literally cook you from the inside out, so you'll notice the multiple vent-like spiracles across her body for this purpose. she was born blind and so relies heavily on her best friend, Django, to be her eyes and keep her safe. fortunately, Django has Too Many Eyes. he's a dragon genetically engineered by those in Val's species to be the perfect vessel for storing and releasing massive amounts of mirror-based magic. this kind of magic gives him many abilities, including seeing around corners, creating illusions, or multiplying attacks when applied in different ways, and he acts as Val's seeing-eye dragon. in battle, she likes to get up in the action while he holds back and gives her cues on what's happening, only jumping in himself if she's in major trouble. she's very friendly and excitable, and loves to get into the culture of whatever planet they're visiting, while he's more interested in observing and snooping. there's a lot of espionage and hijinks.
these are some of my most recent sketches of them, tho I'm sure the designs will changes in the future. specific colors don't matter at all, it's all about vibes! not pictured in the halfway colored one is Val's big iridescent black cape thing that has a slit down the middle for her rigid tail, nor her weird arms since I wanted to figure out where the torso vents could go.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Duke is another Visitor who visits planets and solves problems, but his path to get there was a whole lot different! I made him up as a coping mechanism when I was 12, and I'm still very fond of him.
he started life as a human video game speedrunner and modder prodigy. in a "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" situation, a devil (very distinct from demons!) struck a deal with him, challenging his gaming abilities with his soul as the stakes. he won despite the devil's cheating, but that's where the resemblance to the song ends. in this world, a devil winning your soul allows them to fuse with you and gain total control over your body, mind, and actions; but if YOU win, the control is reversed! and like any 14 year old who suddenly has the power to rival minor gods and a chaotic creature living in their head.... he goes off the rails for a while. Val and Django eventually find him and help him cope. his powers include electricity, glitching reality, flailing his glaive around, and being a menace to evil overlords.
you can't see it very well in this picture, but his eyes and the segments between his tail glow lime green! I'm not a fan of drawing clothes, but in my head he's relatively fashionable for a teenager and refuses to wear anything other than black. also, he decided to tell me he was trans a couple years ago, thanks for letting me know buddy 😂
Tumblr media
my other project does actually get to see the light of day, if very slowly — I'm running a homebrew D&D campaign for my irl friends called the Dark Star Campaign! none of em use tumblr so WHEEEE I get to post all the spoilers I want! there's a kinda staggering amount of lore behind it and a ton of minor OCs, but the two I rotate in my head the most are Anya the Timekeeper and The Master, aka Armageddon.
Anya the Timekeeper is a chronomancy lich from an alternate universe! she used to help Armageddon travel the multiverse and gain power, but she's decided she's tired of being evil, and now hides in a mansion on a tropical island where she breeds dinosaurs for fun. though she's now very determined to help the party, they'll eventually have to kill her past self to prevent a paradox. her familiar is a little archaeopteryx named Trix who steals hats!
Tumblr media
(I commissioned this art from @/goodlouse a while ago! highly recommend checking out his blog!!)
Armageddon is the BBEG and he's SO EVIL and SO MUCH FUN. he's an ancient amethyst dragon who, up until a while before the campaign's beginning, was steadily finding alternate universe versions of himself, killing them, and eating their souls to gain Unlimited Power™. unfortunately, his partner in time (hah) Anya told him to fuck off, so the quest for Unlimited Power™ has been kinda slow lately. fortunately, a D&D campaign started, and he cheated his way into existing at the players' table as The Master! my players can ask to talk to him sometimes, and I'll put on a mask of his head I made specifically for this purpose — very useful for not breaking character when the character is supposed to literally be the one sitting at the table talking to the players. I don't try to hide the fact that he's evil and they all know it, the fun is in giving them little hints and tidbits of lore to munch on. right now he's being very docile and helpful but things will get very very interesting eventually as more of his nature and plan is revealed..... =)
I'm still playing around with what he looks like as The Master, but I really like this recent design I did. his eye glows dark and menacing. I haven't found a design for his dragon form I'm really pleased with yet tho :/
Tumblr media
okay wow thanks again for the ask, I have many many ideas in my head and it felt pretty nice to get em out!!

I don't really know how to articulate this in a way that won't make someone somewhere very upset so I'm just going to go about this in the way I normally would: as Directly as possible.
I have to set some boundaries when it comes to my art.
For everyone with busy lives, here's the short version: If you believe, in any capacity, that you literally are any of the characters I frequently draw, and/or if you know yourself to be prone to taking fanworks a little too personally (meaning: to the point of causing considerable distress when a work is not compliant with your perceptions), please either keep it to yourself or block me. I mean that.
...Everybody else, strap in for the long version:
I don't know what any of you mean anymore when you say you "kin" a character. Not long ago, if you used the word "kinning" on the internet (ie. elfinkin(d), otherkin, fictionkin, etc.) you were most likely (with a few exceptions) talking about a very specific experience. I'm talking "compulsively eating your mother's jewelry because you're a dragonkin, and dragons hoard and eat rare gems, obviously" type stuff. Not "closet-cosplaying to school as your favorite anime character because you really really relate to/admire them". Those are fundamentally two different things. So why are we using the same term for them?
(...It was a huge mistake to come up with the word "kinnie" as a cutesy nickname, in my honest opinion.)
Now, the definition is too broad, too diluted. Now, if I see that word in a bio or a tag...I legitimately don't know what to expect. Someone could mean that they relate to the characters' plights and stories, or that they aspire to be like them and want to emulate them in their day-to-day life. Maybe they RP the character and (for some reason) don't know of any other terms to use.
...They could also mean that it is their firmly held belief that they are THE Yusuke Kitagawa in the flesh, or that Ryuji himself is beaming his consciousness into their brain from an alternate plane, or that Futaba periodically hacks into their body to speak through them, and so on.
And if the latter examples sound similar to your experience, then buddy, I don't wanna know about it. I have no goddamn business being privy to anyone's mental landscape on this big beautiful internet.
(I do want you to find a licensed clinician if you have the resources to safely do so, though. Sincerely.)
I don't want to be told that I'm not depicting "you" accurately (a thing that has happened!). I also don't want to be held responsible for accidentally hitting upon triggers that I could never anticipate, because of a stranger internalizing a character (voluntarily or not) so deeply into their personhood that a comic/fic/drawing exploring that character's canon in ways that make them uncomfortable can prompt a panic attack or a fit of rage or similar distress responses (a thing that I've been scolded by strangers over! Multiple times, even!). I also ABSOLUTELY don't want anyone to message me as a fictional character to tell me what they think of my art, or to tell me that they look to my art for things to build their personality around (which is also a thing that has happened. Are you seeing a trend?)
In all these scenarios, each person neglected to consider that I'm not a source of new "kin material"! I'm just some fucking guy, screwing around on the internet just like everyone else!
I'm not going to presume the legitimacy of any strangers' mental health status (access to mental healthcare can be next to impossible, I know), nor am I one to criticize how anyone engages with the things they like. However. Please remember that every interaction you have is a two-way street. Artists aren't content farms; they are your fellow fans.
When someone comments or tags my art to say "this is me", or "you drew me wrong", or "I would never do/say that", or that the material made them miserable or angry and that they "hate OP for making it"...I have to see that. It's only happened a handful of times. But that was enough to make me wonder with every kin-adjacent tag I see: Is this another person that feels entitlement or ownership over what I make? Is this another person I should expect comments of disappointment or aggression from if I make something that they disagree with? Do you think that I'm doing any of this for you?

As much fun as we're having with the cabinet rant, we really should see what's so important that the Shopkeeper would come out in the ice and snow for it.

HA I TRICKED YOU WE'RE STILL GROPING THE CABINET

As I'm often fond of saying, there is no such thing as atheist fiction. In any given story, the very fabric of the universe is shaped by a singular will. Everything happens for a reason, every creative choice is made with purpose, and fundamental ideologies of the creator inevitably spring forth from the text - whether they were meant to or not.
Every story is a set of ideas draped in costumes and set designs. Made presentable by the likable characters and production values that serve to deliver and examine those ideas.

The treasure is not necessarily a metaphor. It can represent literal wealth. Dragons, like vampires, are a strong metaphor for capitalists.
It doesn't have to embody literal wealth, but in a story with economic themes, an immortal monster hoarding all of the region's wealth while the people starve is a meaningful symbol in its own right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To be perfectly honest, I've just been enjoying getting a rise out of you. So, that last one's closest. In any case, we should probably get back to business.
Time to go outside and... fight you, I guess? I think we're going to fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are multiples of you!?
Huh. Guess you weren't Resh'an after all. I'm genuinely surprised by this revelation. Alright, then! Hit me! What's the final test?
Tumblr media
Attuned to the... What?
Wait, is the Scroll how I got my contract or whatever with Quarble? Is Quarble in the Scroll? Is this one of those magic artifact deals where, like, Quarble can only aid me so long as I keep the Scroll in my possession or something?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh shit. This is my moment. I'm about to become some sort of chosen one super being or some shit! Here we go!
Tumblr media
Well maybe you should have given more clear instructions.
Tumblr media
Was it supposed to do that?
Tumblr media
NO FOR REAL IS IT SUPPOSED TO BE DOING THIS
I'M AGGRESSIVELY PEEING MYSELF RIGHT NOW BUT IT'S FINE BECAUSE WHEN IT KILLS ME I'LL COME BACK TO LIFE WITH CLEAN PANTS
Tumblr media
...wow, did you guys hear that? There was, uh... there was a lot of white noise floating in on the breeze. It's very noisy up here. Hard to tell who said what.
..also, does anyone have a spare robe? My pants have frozen solid for ambiguous reasons, probably to do with how much I was sweating on my way up here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tower of Time. You guys have to be involved with Resh'an, right? More than anything, time manipulation was his field of expertise. I have so many questions and I want to--
Wait, did you say gauntlet?
Tumblr media
Well, good buddy. I guess we can finally confirm, once and for all, that it's okay for you and I to be friends. Now, at last, we can enter into a new relationship built on mutual respect and-- Where are you going?
Okay.
...
Wait, you said the cool stuff was up ahead but you didn't think I'd actually pull this off. When you said "cool stuff", were you specifically anticipating watching me get blasted by lightning until my eyeballs explode?
Because that's mean. ._. Assclown.

yeah!! i literally had JUST heard about it on my dash and went to look at the tracks w/o really planning on listening to them and butchered tongue caught my eye and then went WHOOSH time to hit where it hurts. and it's so beautiful, too, to know that this is a thing that has been/is always being explored by people, the loss of language and culture and the canyon between past and present. the people whose language was lost to colonization & those who judge etc.
and in the veins of irish gaelic, that's so cool!! i've always wanted to learn that one as well--i kind of like. have always loved celtic stories--so hey maybe we can practice together someday in like,,, the distant future haha. AND ALSO! here is a resource a friend gave to me years ago that i'm digging through today--there's language textbooks for SO MANY LANGUAGES, plus a bunch of other topics you can check out! just wanted to share this with you as well :)
I've also seen lots of talk on my dash about Unreal Unearth! It takes me a bit of time to get into/through albums like that; Hozier has a lovely voice but it does take Effort to process.
I didn't know about Butchered Tongue until you mentioned it though, and MAN is it quite poignant. Just the knowledge that the grief and determined perseverance through language and culture loss isn't just you. And that the feeling can be expressed so beautifully.
And oh!! It would be very cool to practice together...in a very ill-defined point in time far from now. Probably not the smartest idea to start multiple languages at once--though irish gaelic and nahuatl are different enough it wouldn't be as bad as when I studied French and Spanish at the same time.
Actually, I didn't have any problems studying ASL at the same time as those two because it was separate enough, so maybe learning multiple different languages at once would be fine. But maybe it was only fine there because ASL is a visual language.
And thank you for the link! I think I've seen an iteration of that before, but I don't know whether or not I saved it. Either way, now I have! This is so great I love having a language buddy to share resources with, that'll be very useful!

Hi there buddy, my name is Athena. I'm coming to say hi, see how you're doing and this is a chance to ramble about your wips. Have any of your wips been influenced/inspired by podcasts or any other media?
Hi Athena :)
YES! Thank you for asking <3
All of them!! So...let's start at the beginning...take a seat...get a drink and a snack...this will...you know what, get that drink and a snack and I'll break this down so you can go potty in between WIPS. Otherwise you'll be doing the potty dance and trying to read faster and you might skip something...and no one wants that. *grins happily* We'll start with The Imperium Chronicles (@theimperiumchronicles )
Okay - the original concept started as an RP a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago with some super cool and super good friends of mine. We used Cassandra Claire's Mortal Instruments book series as kind of inspiration, but there were parts of her mythos we thought were crap and her characters were too young and we HATED the whole chalice thing....so we kept a little and threw a WHOLE LOT out...and came up with the original crew - Abriella (who was an existing char of mine that I tweaked and was known as Brie then), Cruz, Dez, Talon, Talia, Raguel, Arioch, Char (she's dead and we're gonna leave her that way), and Deacon. Some people wrote more than one. None of the characters were actually based on characters from Claire's stories, we more based it one her setup and if you saw our stories then and some of the old stories I wrote for Brie, you'd recognize it. It's been almost 20 years now...she's evolved some.
NOW...the obvious inspiration for the current arc is kind of the Bible - 4 Horsemen and all. But again, there is a twist on it. Mainly because having done some Biblical study, I am aware that what we have today is at best the English translation from the Latin from the Greek from the Aramaic...or something along those lines....there may even be a few other translations thrown in there. In some cases there were multiple meanings for one English word. For instance when Jesus is walking on the water the more accurate translation is NOT "Fear not, it is I". It IS "Fear not, I AM." Why does this matter? Because God was know as The Great I AM. He was declaring his divinity within the statement but what seems like a minor translation issue is a HUGE one in context. Sooooo....I've used this to my story's advantage. In no way is my story related to reality or religion in any way, I'm just using something that is real in my fiction.
ALSO...Leandre, Andronicus, Orpheus, and Thenasus are completely and wholely based on the BBC Musketeers series, save the last season which IMO sucked balls. They are even based on the characters that share their FC. Leandre is my blorbo baby...Tom Burke *swoons*. ANYWAY...completely inspired by...blorbos were born watching the series while writing Abriella stories. Demanded they be born and allowed to participate. So, here we are.
Thinius...yep...he is alive and kicking because Imagine Dragons seems to write songs that just inspire the fuck out of the entire The Imperium Chronicles gang. And they demanded Dan Reynolds be a FC of a character as such. Don't ask where his personality come from other than when I saw them live in NOLA, it came to me watching that man literally bounce around for over 4 hours on stage like the Engergizer Bunny.
Kellen got his FC before I saw Shadow and Bone, but he became more formed and his character changed some afterwards. The plot didn't but he absorbed some of the elements of Kirigan that Ben played, elements that I had been struggling to figure out with Kellen. It was tied into the world building for Uffern, and as soon as he grabbed onto those tiny details, everything fell into place for Uffern and all the others who live there...including Korben's curse. z
POTTY BREAK...I'll start @bendingthelaws after I finish eating my lunch

Can I just say, from one Jin stan to the other, that you've been dropping banger after banger? You're doing gods work with your posts. And seriously, I'm OK if they're gonna make Jin the guy who had a "villain" phase (as long as it makes sense, but we all know it DIDN'T make much sense before). The only thing I'm not OK with is his sudden change of demeanor around the people who originally wanted to stop him, like you say, LARS. HOW ON EARTH did they become buddies??? Bc the only explanation I can think of is Jin saying he wasn't himself during the events of 6. Like maybe it was indirectly his fault bc he couldn't control DJ but that was still DJ. I can sort of believe Lars would buy that, after a long talk (if that was the case)? Either way I need the game/leaks/spoilers now bc instead of answers I'm getting more questions???? I know you must be tired of this topic but just wanted to let you know my thoughts
Tumblr media
Thank you,,,,,,, and honestly it's glad to see other Jin stans who call out the BS of the writing instead of just turning to Hate the character. Jin was a really wonderful character! And it's just depressing to see how hated he is because of that awful Character Assassination.
I just think that making Jin a villain already ruins his character, no matter how it's written. Just because Jin was a character who was supposed to be the Good Mishima (before Jinpachi and Lars came into the series) and Jin was also meant to be a bit of a contrast to Kazuya's character. Also, Jin's a Kazama, too. By making him a vilain, it just shatters all of those very important points to the story.
Buuuut... let's just ignore that and say even if Jin being a villain made sense, Tek6 literally does the worst execution of it. As I've explained multiple times here; his motivations quickly fall apart when you start to really think about it. He's also extremely inconsistent - and I don't just mean compared to the entire series, I mean even in that one game alone, he's extremely inconsistent, and his character's just all over the place. It's all poorly written even IF Jin being a bad guy made sense or if he was always the bad guy. It's sad there exists lots who can't criticize it more, or just take it as canon and expect us all to, as well.
That's why I thought they were gonna retcon it; Lars being friendly with Jin WOULD make more sense if he found out Jin was either being "controlled" or his body was taken over. Because he'll realize Jin feels guilty over something that wasn't directly his fault. And, well... Alisa may help Lars understand the situation, as Alisa was forced to do bad things (such as try to kill Lars) while under the control of somebody else. Lars cares for Alisa, and realizes she'd never do such a thing otherwise. I feel that would make him more sympathetic toward Jin. And there you go! That's a way to explain why Lars is nicer to Jin all of a sudden, and how to make the protagonist not a fucking war criminal.
I did say I would talk more about Tek6 SHOULD the game give me more reason to. And sadly... Tek8 ABSOLUTELY gave me more reason to bring it up. Unfortunately, it did for all of us. But yeahhhh... I also just wish the game was here so I can rip the band-aid off already. I gotta know if they're really still going with the "I did the war to destroy the devil gene!" Or if that first four minutes is out of context, and there's actually much to learn.

game theory/headcanon but also like an actual theory
Mohn (and by proxy, Lillie and Gladion) is related to Cynthia. think about it. A lot of the Aether Foundation's research stems from Sinnoh, the RKS/Type: Null/Silvally experiment being directly based off of Arceus (hence the name RKS, it sounds like Arceus! Personally, I think that Arceus is pronounced multiple ways even in universe since Game Freak themselves can't pronounce it consistently lmao). Ultra-Wormholes are essentially space-time distortions considering they literally open into other dimensions, connecting the phenomenon itself to Sinnoh, even if they're primarily, if not solely happening in Alola. Mohn and Cynthia could've been studying together on space-time distortions involving Palkia and Dialga when Mohn found out about Ultra-Wormholes. Lusamine even has a DIAMOND on her dress and in her hair that's SPACE themed, perhaps a gift from Cynthia when Mohn married Lusamine? Cynthia could've helped him with establishing Aether Paradise, even gifting him a gibble to raise into a garchomp, which we know Aether Paradise has because of the anime. (I like to think he then gave the gibble to a then tiny Gladion to have as a buddy, who he was separated from in the hurry of Gladion booking it from Aether Paradise after saving Silvally. Boy didn't have time to even grab money, he'd barely have time to grab all his Pokemon. I don't even think he could fit more than three pokeballs in his bag thing anyways) Mohn has bright blond hair and green eyes, which is a bit different to Cynthia's yellow-blond and grey eyes, but I've got an explanation for that. Cogita. Cogita is very clearly an ancestor to Cynthia, but the most notable difference is the much paler hair. This could explain Mohn's paler hair, it being from a recessive gene or something. Same with his green eyes, another unknown ancestor of Cynthia could've had green eyes. From what I've gathered, Mohn's eye color seems dulled compared to the rest of the family, who have much brighter, green eyes. It could be the memory loss but fuck you that's stupid and I'm right. Mohn, Lusamine, Gladion, and Lillie (along with a few other Aether Paradise workers) have named based off German words. Cynthia's name is not only a popular English and Greek name, but it's also German as well. The reason why Cynthia isn't mentioned during Sun/Moon's games and anime is because she lost her brother. She's grieving and is too busy as Sinnoh champion to directly help Aether Paradise during this time. She'd over all be busy being the Champion of Sinnoh, and therefore wouldn't be able to go to Aether Paradise all that much in the first place. When Lusamine goes crazy goes stupid in the games, Aether Paradise's PR is very very good at keeping things a secret for the most part. Cynthia would be unaware that the Aether kids, pokemon, and Type: Nulls were suffering, she's far away and the PR makes everything seem fine. Is this an excuse for me to imagine Gladion reuniting with his garchomp and then battling someone powerful with an intense, kickass mash-up of his theme and Cynthia's theme? P e r h a p s . . . But in all seriousness, this is still an actual theory I have. It's one of those theories that blips into your brain for a second and at first you think it's kind of silly, but then as you think about it more and more, a lot of pieces click into place. The bedeion au will be using this theory/headcanon ofc, it's too good of a twist to just NOT do anything with

Question (as someone who's never been to a concert) what is a metal concert like? What's the sort of atmosphere?
It is A LOT of fun, I personally hate being around people and big crowds but this is one of those exceptions where I'm just having a good time and I won't let that disturb it. It's also especially nice when it's not too big of a concert. We have this hall in our capital that's just called "Garage" which is fitting because it's not really that big and there I went to multiple metal concerts. The sound there is just the best of them all, you can clearly hear everything, even from afar you can still kinda see what's going on and you don't have to navigate through a labyrinth of people to go to the restroom or get something to drink. The bigger areas so far or also open air areas had worse sound quality, which makes sense because it is a bigger area or outside, but sometimes it really was just the fault of the people responsible for it because they could NOT figure out how to properly mix the loudness of the instruments and the singer right.
I haven't been to one in a while because the situation of the world obviously, but the first one I've been on was when I was around 13 I think? Since my parents both are metalheads we all went together so I was save, obviously I didn't go alone kghfjghfg,,, Since then I've been on a couple of concerts and a rock festival and from all of them I've got some funny memorable moments.
The atmosphere is really great, everyone's just there for a fun time and the people are really chill and nice. When people singing along it's just really great because it feels just so uhhh almost like a shanty or vikings singing together during a feast- I mean I mainly went to see bands that are power metal/heavy metal, around that area where that is often a common topic, so makes sense. But just everyone in unison singing along like a hymn is just so great!
There can be areas like, I guess,,, mosh pits (although that term is more for other concerts I feel like but it's still fitting) but the people will be careful enough to form a circle of people around it so they won't hurt the others on accident. Probably the most dangerous are the crowd surfers (mainly because everyone is wearing heavy boots so you have to be careful), who will get more the longer it lasts, and that can be a while since there are often smaller bands playing before the main band.
Which also introduced me to some other bands than the one I wanted to see. Gloryhammer is a funny example because they played before Hammerfall (which I saw the most so far I love them sm) and we just thought them kinda funny because the main singer did NOT fit into his way too big costume and seemed more like a little kid on stage. But one part was the best, when he asked someone in the audience to bring him a beer and they were crowdsurfed all the way back to the singer (I mean, a lot of the beer spilled, but it actually worked). I think Gloryhammer is way bigger as a band now tho? I haven't really checked up on them to see if they still look kinda silly.
There are also people dressing in funny ways like this one guy in a bathrobe or one in a pikachu onsie who even got to crowd surf. Then, people love throwing weird stuff around like,, pillows is one I've seen before. Often when you can buy bottles to drink, it won't have a bottle cap so you won't throw it, which is the stupidest thing ever because I've seen people throw around literally everything. But it was always just for fun, never to actually attack someone, like with the pillow the people in the crowd were just playing catch.
In one concert right in front of us was a, pretty much a grandpa but out of all the people he just went off the most, he was constantly just dancing with those really funny moves and we talked to him and the people around every now and then, those kinda concert buddies are also fun.
OH and one time I had my Assassin's Creed jacket on AND THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME ALSO HAD AN ASSASSIN'S CREED PIECE OF CLOTHING ON. Idk if it was a hoodie or a jacket too or a shirt, but I was just like damn. What a coincidence.
For one Hammerfall concert I also brought my friend that I got into metal a bit (years prior they said they hated it. how the turns have tabled) and afterwards they said it was the best concert they've ever been on- I mean- it was like the second one but still,, the first metal concert,,,
SO YEAH. Overall, just fun experience and great people but obviously there's also always more intense metal genres and they have the potential of people being more rough, especially when drunk, but drunk people always are unpredictable and there are concerts that are overall more dangerous than metal jghfghg At the end of the day there's always a risk of things happening so the most important thing is to be always aware of surroundings and don't squeeze yourself through the crowd if it's not necessary, especially if there are already so many people in front of you, it's just a risky thing, but I think those things are like basic human instinct of I don't wanna get squished.
Okay, kinda unrelated now but I had to think of this one too. One of my favourite ""concerts"" I've been on was this Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy reading accompanied by a live jazz band in a planetarium, so on top of that we also had such a cool space show on the biiiiiig ceiling screen and you were in those comfy chairs with which you could just lean back and look back and man it just was so great. Good thing it was pretty much right before covid so I had a chance to experience that. Man, I really miss concerts. GAh, and theatre (both performing and watching ;;) but both covid and time are just >>>:(((
BUT YEAH. Before I get side-tracked even more, that's about it!

The Big Catch-Up Wall of Text Extravaganza 1
I really love using this site as a means to just, write about whatever's on my mind or to write about things I've been doing and my thoughts on them- y'know, like a blog. Most of the time, though, my procrastination gets EXTREMELY in the way, so that doesn't happen as much as I'd like it to. So, for days where I have nothing else to do except for playing catch-up with all the things I wanna talk about, there's gonna be these kinds of posts!
This first one's gonna be kinda all over the place and out of order, but hopefully for next time I like, write down what I want to talk about in the order it comes to my mind so that I don't have to go "huh, what did I want to say again?", but with that said, let's get this started!
First thing's first, I wanna talk about my time with the Vital Bracelet BE because, holy shit, the BE is just everything I wanted from the VV but actually realized: Infinite training, tracking of said training and steps baked into the watch, raising stats with training with a rank to go along with your overall training with the 'mon, being able to see evo requirements IN THE WATCH LIKE HOLY SHIT!!! It's still not perfect, however- my only gripes with the watch are that you STILL can't skip battles, BE 'mons late-game require SO many damn squats being done, and the app for the watch right now is absolute sewage water. I have no plans on using that shitty app unless I'm using it to store completed runs. Speaking of completing runs, holy shit it takes FOREVER to complete a run for me. Why? WELL, since the BE has 4 character slots, I've decided to load this bitch up with two BE 'mons and two DIM 'mons. What I've been doing is that every day, I switch which mon I'm raising in a set rotation, going from a BE, to a DIM, to a BE, to a DIM. This way, I can have one day where I go all out in grinding stats for my BE 'mons, then chill the next day with my DIM 'mons since the stat system is exclusive to the BE 'mons so doing all the exercises for the DIM 'mons on a BE device only increases their PP, or what they need to evolve to the next stage. For those who only stick to raising one 'mon at a time to completion on the BE, I HIGHLY recommend this method of going about things, it's super fun and a nice way to spend time with multiple buddies at once in a span of time.
Speaking of monster-collecting franchises and fitness, I've also decided to get back into Pokemon GO since some of my other friends are giving it a shot again, too. I originally played this game when it first came out, and like, man it fucking sucked. I have literally ONE Pokestop in my general area and the only way to get there is to cross a busy street and complete a bigass maze before having to come BACK from that. Horrible. Because of living in the middle of fucking nowhere, I run out of Pokeballs really quickly, which is why I quit GO on my first playthrough and is something I am getting close to doing now. It fucking sucks that this is the way it has to be, but oooh weeell, if I have to buy a few hundred balls just to continue my search for a (Galarian) Slowbro, I'll do it I guess. And speaking of Pokemon, I have made a huge discovery- especially as someone who really likes avians... Piplup and their line is like, EXTREMELY slept on. I realized this when one of them spawned out in my front lawn and caught it on my first try and decided to make them my buddy 'mon instead of the Bulbasaur I caught when I first started my new account. At that moment it just hit me, like, why don't more people ever talk about them? Why don't I ever talk about them??? Like, I didn't remember Empoleon being in Pokken until I looked Empoleon up, that's fucking awesome. I will be the change I want to see in this world and bring up those silly penguins whenever I can. Doesn't mean their a top 3 favorite of mine I think, but I'll make sure they aren't forgotten.
Uhhh what else what else... oh! I got a new controller for my PC after using the same fucking Afterglow controller for like, 6 years. The "deadzone" issues or however you'd call it were getting so bad that I had to just get a new one. It's a PowerA controller, and I have nothing but good things to say about the GC one I got from them for my Switch, so let's hope this controller lasts just as long as my Afterglow did. Oh, I also fucking tore my old controller apart to hardest it's face buttons lmao.
Oh, I also started a (Hardcore) Ironwoman on Old School Runescape. I started one for two reason: the main one being because I've essentially maxxed out everything I can do on my main account without buying a membership cuz IDK if I wanna commit to a subscription like that, and the other reason being that my friend has started playing OSRS again after forever so we're playing together and making progress together. Holy fuck man, the Hardcore experience is STRESSFUL!!! I don't care if I die and lose it cuz if I want to do a Hardcore thing, I'd make a dedicated account for it, but fuck, do I want to hold onto it for as long as I can because the Hardcore armor looks so much better than the default Ironman armor. Like, why doesn't the default one have arms??? What the hell??? Anyways, I don't think I'm gonna be doing a log or whatever about it. I'd love to make videos about my experience with OSRS, but I don't have the SSD space or really a drive for it at the moment lmao.
The final (and I guess the "biggest?") thing I wanted to talk about was the fact that I saw Puss n' Boots 2 for the second time not too long ago, and like, FUUUCK, it's such a good film. I could go on and on and on and on about what I liked about it, but that's not really the point. When I saw the film the first time, I got sad. When I rewatched it, I got even more sad. Why? Just, the EVERYTHING about that movie, the music, the character designs, the story... it makes me want to CREATE things so FUCKING bad, but like, I have literally zero drive to do so and it almost pisses me off to the point of doing something to spite myself, but I just can't. I have so many songs stuck in my head, so many story/game concepts I want to realize, but I just don't have the motivation to DO it and I will bring that frustration with me to my grave in hopes that a beautiful tree can sprout and do the things I never got to... why am I talking like that I still got a lot of time to do shit lmao. I'll get to it eventually... but I wish eventually was now.
WHEW, I'm fucking finally all caught up with everything I wanted to say. Now, I... don't know what else to do. I guess I can get that 10 year Smite thing done so I don't have to worry about it again, but that's all I got going on lmao. Until the next time y'all hear from me, take care, everyone!

Howdy do! 21, 28, 32, 33 & 41? Sorry if this is too much, answer as many or as few as you’d like!! :D
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA OH MY GOSH, SORRY FOR NOT ANSWERING THIS ANY EARLIER THAN I WAS ABLE TO. HAD A LOT OF STUFF AND WONDERED IF I SHOULD DRAW REACTION RESPONSES TO THIS BUT AAAGH!! I'M HERE NOW TO ANSWER ALL OF THEM !!
21.) how long have you used tumblr for? how has your style changed over the years?
Oh boy, how long have I used this hellsite? Uh... I think--- and I could be wrong, but I think I joined tumblr in 2018-2019 and progressively got more active for... The next 3-4 years. I may be wrong about how long I've used it but y'know, bad-memory and all. My style though? Gee. Not exactly sure what kind of style I even have going on but, maybe it's changed? I sort of can't tell. Went from just posting explicitly art to just a reblog dumpster with bits of art and geeking out every now and then.
So, I think it's changed(?)
28.) if you could domesticate any animal as your pet, which would you choose?
Any animal? Do fictional ones count? Even prehistoric ones? I'll just run through all three if those options are available,
Realistically, I think I'd like to domesticate ... A crow! Or a raven for that matter. They're cool, and incredibly intelligent, omnivorous too. I'm not necessarily saying that housing one as a pet would be easy but-- it's manageable rather than having something big or limited towards eating one type of food that'd cost me greatly to care for. Also-- ravens talk !! Sort of... They can talk just like people with enough training and I think it'd be cool to scare people away with a raven or a crow that can say "run". It'd be a horrifying thing to experience but an overall big joke to me-- also, I very much like feeding crows and ravens irl. It's very therapeutic for me :]]
Fictional? A western dragon. Or a drake. It'd be so awesome to fly or ride around on a large reptilious (maybe?) fire-breathing creature and I've definitely adored fantasy beasts like those since I was a kid, so younger me would've been ecstatic at the thought of domesticating something that's so-- magical. Definitely would like a medium-sized dragon or a drake though, a pretty large beast like that would stick out like a sore thumb around where I live and-- I sure as hell do not like attention. A small fire-breathing dragon would do too, I'd like to have a little buddy by my size at any time or place.
This one might a be a merge between both prehistoric and fictional but, I think the Indoraptor from Jurassic World might've been a neat pet to have. Also-- "scary dog" privileges taken up to a literal sense would be funny. It'd be strange but definitely humorous to have the Indoraptor as something of an "emotional support" animal. I'd dig it. Nobody would bother me for having such a creature and it looks dope as hell !!
32.) favorite piece of memorabilia you own?
An "energon" necklace I bought a while back is my favorite memorabilia. It's a neat little accessory I got around-- 2021? 2020 maybe? The entirety of its delivery was... A wild ride. It went from Poland to... Multiple different places actually and me and the seller had to figure it all out as it was being brought to different places. It--- eventually arrived? But it ended up in New Mexico, I was in Cali, this lasted on for several days before I actually got the necklace. I was ecstatic about it and in the end, turned out really nice! I wear it on special occasions every now and then and I keep it tucked away safe in the small box it came delivered with.
33.) your personal favorite oddity about yourself?
Hm. A personal oddity about myself that I like? Hm. That's sort of difficult for me but, I think I like my ability to just-- talk to myself, y'know just-- hold a conversation in my mind or verbally between myself. It sounds strange but, surprisingly? It helps. Helps me cope a lot when I feel anxious or when I'm thinking too much. I don't like how it's portrayed in media as just-- talking to yourself = you're an insane psychopath or something like that. It feels wrong. Maybe I am crazy but, I don't see the genuine issue with talking to yourself and it sort of upsets me that talking to yourself isn't as normalized as it should be. So, yeah. I guess I like my ability to talk to myself. If that counts?
41.) what are you currently trying to accomplish?
hm. That's another hard one for me. I'm currently trying to accomplish-- a lot of things right now, physically? I'm trying to get some muscles, work out more, stuff like that and mentally? I'm just trying to recover--- from a lot of stuff that's happened, I think I'm doing okay so far and I think I'm making progress with accomplishing either of those. There's also a lot of other things I want to accomplish along with those two, like-- doing more art, getting into some more writing again, and just--- I don't know, hanging out with friends? It's a lot, I'm sure, but I never intended on doing all of them at the same time. That'd definitely tear me apart with how much I have to focus on, but for now. I'm just trying to accomplish on getting-- better, better somewhere, mentally, physically, that's good enough right?

Complaining about antisemitism is one thing, but to say people are pushing “rape denial” for antisemitic reasons while the sexual abuse accusations committed against Israelis come from ONE article in the New York Times that is currently being debunked, has no sources, no victims existing and literally no proof is quite naive. Like you’re literally falling for propaganda.
oh buddy. buddy.
the way i instinctively just stopped and rolled up my sleeves.
this bodes ill for you.
so, just to pull back for a bird's-eye view of the matter real quick: israel is a tiny, tiny country. i've seen multiple israelis point out that because Israel is so small, basically everyone who is there, or is from there, or has family there, knows someone who lost someone, or was killed, by Hamas. Also, 0.2% of the world is Jewish, and about half of those people live in Israel. A lot of people in the diaspora know people there and have intimate personal knowledge of what happened there.
What I'm saying is: there is an absolute chasm between what Jews, as a community, know about all of this, and what everybody else knows. it really highlights the fact that not only do people not listen to or hear from Jewish communities in general, but that in this specific case, there's been a consistent pattern of shouting Jewish voices down as "ziOnISTs" regardless of the topic. And boy do i get frustrated by all of it.
So back to the specifics: I'm not going by a lone NYT article. I am aware that there was some NYT article that said someone was raped, and then afterward the family was like "noooo definitely not," and I liter -- well I do care, but it's not the issue.
I first heard about Hamas using rape as a weapon less than a week after the attacks.
The way I heard about it was that I looked for eyewitness stories of the massacre.
I didn't even really think about why. I just felt like I had to know more about what happened. What it was like. In retrospect, this is not something most people did. It's probably not something I would have done if it hadn't felt so personal.
That's another thing that I've seen people deny a lot: that Hamas was specifically attacking Jews for being Jews.
It has no problem with collateral damage: it also killed anyone else who got in its way. But its mission has always been to violently destroy Israel, not because Free Palestine, but because Jews. (in fact, it was founded the year before Palestine declared independence, and it's openly against the group that declared independence, and against peace talks of any kind.)
Hamas is an arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, a nice-sounding org co-founded by Amin al-Husseini, who went on to become a Nazi war criminal. Its founding documents explicitly say that Jews are the enemy because they control the banks, the media, and the drug trade, were behind WWI and WWII, and want to expand Israel to take over the world.  One of its fighters called home during the attack to celebrate having "killed 10 Jews with my own hands."'
Anyway, one of the first things I found was a PBS interview with two survivors of the attack.
Raz Cohen says, "We go to hide in a bush, a big bush in the creek. And we was in the bush something like six or seven hours. A lot of terrorists go around us and search for people to kill. The terrorists, people from Gaza, raped girls. And after they raped them, they killed them, murdered them with knives, or the opposite, killed — and after they raped, they — they did that.
"They laughed. They always laughed. It's — I can't forget how they laughed on the — in this situation."
The more I read, the more there was. As the discourse moved from saying, "what Hamas did is in the past, it's not relevant now" to actively denying atrocities, I started saving eyewitness accounts.
Yoni Saadon, one of the witnesses, recounts in the Times: “I saw this beautiful woman with the face of an angel and eight or ten of the fighters beating and raping her. She was screaming, ‘Stop it — already I’m going to die anyway from what you are doing, just kill me!’ When they finished they were laughing and the last one shot her in the head. I pulled her body over me and smeared her blood on me so it would look as if I was dead too. I will never forget her face. Every night I wake to it and apologise to her, saying ‘I’m sorry’.
“I kept thinking it could have been one of my daughters, or my sister — I had bought her a ticket but last minute she couldn’t come.”
"'I hid in the bushes and saw that they had caught a young woman near a car and she was fighting back, not allowing them to... They threw her to the ground and one of the terrorists took a shovel and beheaded her and her head rolled along the ground. I see that head too,' he says."
NBC News did an investigation into it in November.
"Over the last several weeks, NBC News has reviewed five interrogations of captured Hamas fighters, an Arabic-language document that instructed Hamas how to pronounce 'Take off your pants' in Hebrew, six images of naked or partially naked deceased female bodies, seven eyewitness accounts of sexual violence including both rape and mutilation, 11 testimonies of first responders, and two accounts from workers in morgues who handled the bodies of women after they were recovered from the massacre.
"The evidence, primarily from the Israel Defense Forces and Israeli officials, suggests that dozens of Israeli women were raped or sexually abused or mutilated during the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks.
"According to first responders, one was mutilated with a pair of scissors and another stabbed with a knife. The genitals of some men who had been killed were mutilated as well.
"Israeli officials say that Hamas militants were instructed to systematically carry out sexual violence on women and children. 'This was systematic gender-based violence that was so horrific it’s hard for me to find the words,' said Cochav Elkayam-Levy, the chair of a newly created Civil Commission on Oct. 7th Crimes by Hamas Against Women and Children.
"Two Israeli investigators cautioned against the use of precise numbers of rape victims at this stage. They told NBC News that evidence continues to come in and that the investigation is likely to go on for months.
"…President Joe Biden on Tuesday called for global condemnation of what he called 'horrific' sexual violence carried out by Hamas militants.
“'Reports of women raped — repeatedly raped — and their bodies being mutilated while still alive, of women’s corpses being desecrated, Hamas terrorists inflicting as much pain and suffering on women and girls as possible and then murdering them. It is appalling,' the president said."
(Real quick sidebar: the contrast between having a president who will say that shit, and a president who is a known rapist, is mind-blowing, and I hope we don't go back to Trump.)
"The most voluminous evidence is of bodily mutilation of sexual organs by bullet, knife or even scissors, according to an NBC News analysis of the evidence currently available. 'They had a thing with sexual organs, both in women and men,' a first responder told police in videotaped testimony.
"A woman whose job it was to open the body bags of women and prepare their bodies for burial told NBC News in an interview Monday that she saw multiple female corpses that had been mutilated. 'They were shot in the vagina, they were shot in the breast,' she said. 'And this seemed like a systematic attempt at genital mutilation.'
"The most detailed eyewitness account of rape is from a young woman who attended the Supernova music festival where more than 350 young people were killed.
“'They laid a woman down and I understood that he is raping her …they passed her on to another person,' the witness told police in a video reviewed by NBC News. 'And he cuts her breasts, he throws it on the road, they are playing with it.'
"Israeli officials pointed to a Hamas pamphlet discovered on Nov. 2 that gives detailed instructions about how to pronounce phrases in Hebrew including 'raise your hands and open your legs' and 'take off your pants.'
"During interrogations, captured Hamas militants talked about raping women and children as a Hamas tactic of war. 'To have our way with them, to dirty them, to rape them,' said one Hamas militant during a videotaped interrogation.
"An IDF rescue unit soldier gave testimony that he witnessed two girls lying in a bedroom, one of them half naked, with her legs spread and he said he saw what appeared to be sperm on her back.
"First responders described several women bleeding from their crotch area. 'There was a body of a woman that had a blood stain on her genitalia. At first, I thought she might have had a mishap out of fear,' a first responder told police investigators in a videotaped testimony. 'When we picked her up we knew for sure it was blood.'
"One of the videos posted to Telegram by Hamas shortly after the attack shows a young Israeli woman with bloodied sweatpants at her crotch. The video shows her hands tied and she is pushed into a Jeep with multiple jihadists. The woman is believed to be one of the remaining hostages still held in Gaza.
"Volunteer Yaffit Salmanson, outraged by the silence from international women’s groups in the early weeks after the terror attack, compiled a list of every piece of evidence she could find in the public domain, including the Hamas interrogations, eyewitness accounts and accounts of first responders.
“'The overwhelming evidence of sexual violence perpetrated on Oct. 7 should have elicited a robust response from the international community and women’s organizations,' said Salmanson. 'As time passed, many of us grew increasingly outraged.'”
The Newsweek article by this Jordanian doctor was especially graphic, though more about sexual mutilation than rape per se.
"Days after the attacks, as a Muslim woman committed to combating Islamism and a physician, I traveled at my own expense to the Gaza envelope to view the aftermath of Hamas' butchery.
"I examined the cadavers of the murdered and defiled; the corpses of the decapitated and immolated. I spoke with the victims of Hamas, including a former hostage—a Muslim physician—and numerous witnesses to Hamas' express barbarity against women, children, girls, and infants, brutally violated in life, in utero and in death.
"In Abu Kabir, I examined incinerated remnants of teeth and bones; charred remains of children; and physical cadavers of victims. I read CT scans of children and adults bound together and burned alive. I viewed images of a decapitated young girl, her child skull tethered to her trunk by only a sliver of decaying skin. Her facial expression, surrounding milk teeth, haunts me still. Across the boundaries of death, her Edward Munch-like scream still echoes.
"I inspected bodies that had been repeatedly stabbed, shot, and crushed. I examined mutilated bodies, restrained with cables, electrical cords, and zipties, still in place post-mortem, and those that had been decapitated and incinerated at temperatures approaching 3,000 degrees Celsius.
"....Sergeant Major Natah Katz from the IDF Rabbinical Unit at the Shura base near Ramle described to me cadavers he received with breasts and genitals hacked off, one with a knife impaled directly into the vagina. The mutilation of sexual organs and breasts, 'seemed to be an obsession,' he recalled. Dr. Chen Kugel, head of Israel's National Forensic Center has confirmed to me the same."
That is far from everything I've read. But it's a lot of the big stuff.
Hamas leaders have also publicly stated that they will come back and do it "again and again and again," until Israel is destroyed.
Iran has been funding and training Hamas for years, but last year it increased its funding from $100M to $350M.
