So I have theory about Luo Binghe’s fake jade pendant.

(Major spoilers if you haven’t finished the book btw)

I was just reading a fic and author pointed out something about Luo Binghe’s pendant and how it’s a metaphor for Shen Yuan.

Looking back at the book, there are a lot of parallels between Shen Yuan and the necklace.

The pendant is a counterfeit jade carving of the god Guanyin.

Shen Yuan is a counterfeit of Shen Qingqiu, a powerful Peak Lord who dresses in jade colored robes.

Guanyin is noted to be associated with compassion, and Shen Yuan changes the entire fate of the world of Proud Immortal Demon Way by being compassionate.

Luo Bingmei ends his story with his one fake jade pendant while the extras specifically note that Luo Bingge has several real jade necklaces in his possession. Those necklaces are even called out to be fine grade and best money can buy.

Obviously the real jades are a metaphor for Bingge’s harem of peerlessly beautiful women while the fake jade, which has infinitely more value to him, represents Shen Yuan, aka Luo Bingmei’s one and only true love.

However I think there’s more to it than that.

If you track the pendant throughout the book, you’ll notice that Luo Binghe is only ever in possession of the pendant when Shen Yuan isn’t there. In fact, he actually loses the pendant shortly after Shen Yuan transmigrates into Shen Qingqiu. For the rest of the book, the pendant is in Shen Yuan’s possession, only returning to Luo Binghe at the climax.

But here’s the thing that’s strange about that scene: for whatever reason the System could not load the pendant when SQQ tried to summon it. At no other point in the book has the System have a problem loading things in.

So why is it when it does load in, it’s right as Shen Yuan dies for the third time?

My theory is that Shen Yuan is the pendant itself.

Now obviously Shen Yuan comes back and Binghe still has the pendant, but in the last couple scenes of the book, Shen Yuan is always right by Luo Binghe’s side.

Now I know that Shen Yuan was an actual person before dying and becoming Shen Qingqiu, so therefore he isn’t the necklace given human form. So how can Shen Yuan and the pendant be one and the same?

Well let’s go back to the aforementioned climax scene where the System cannot physically summon the pendant until Shen Yuan dies.

Seeing as how the System is essentially an AI and/or a computer program, this kind of issue reminds me of how a computer cannot open a file if another of the exact same file is already running.

I think, that when inserting Shen Yuan into PIDW, the System needed a way to tie his soul into its program and Shen Yuan’s fate to the protagonist. The System needed a physical entity to tie him down so it linked his code/soul to the fake jade pendant. That’s why Luo Binghe loses the pendant so soon after Shen Yuan transmigrates and why the System couldn’t load it in until Shen Yuan’s soul left his body because they’re part of the same file.

This is also evidenced by how when Shen Yuan dies the second time, out of all of his items, only the Jade pendant is kept in his inventory when he wakes up in the Sun and Dew Mushroom body.

Not to mention that Shen Yuan and the pendant have the same effect on Luo Binghe! The pendant has the ability to essientially shock Luo Binghe out of a qi deviation, but is only a one time use. But during Luo Binghe’s first qi deviation, Shen Yuan is able to do the exact same thing but doing so kills him. The pendant reduces Luo Binghe’s anger, and Shen Yuan is the only person in the world Luo Binghe will ever be soft and submittable to.

Tl’dr; The System tied Shen Yuan’s soul to the fake Guanyin pendant.

Man wouldn't it be wild if the Man in the Wall was another alternate version of our operator/drifter that never made it out of the void?

Like the Drifter, they learned how to control the void and turn it into whatever they want but they could never actually escape it and eventually drove themselves mad trying.

Time in the void is far from linear after all. And once that barrier was broken, maybe it finally had something to grasp onto to drag itself out from that nothingness and plant itself firmly back in reality. Then the Zariman accident happens and hey would you look at that? It's right back to the beginning of it all, except now things are different. It's become the very outsider they had once feared.

An outsider looking in with the power to meddle and change itself and everything around it. Long has it forgotten who or what it once was but here now is the ship who's very being has carved itself into the back of the entity's mind. It's own birthplace. And suddenly it's looking at a child who's face feels so very achingly familiar and it grins.

So in every boss level where Connectifia Abortus is a problem (1-X, 2-X, 1-XN, and 5-X) this picture of a tree with white bark and green leafs always shows up. (Pictures for proof)

It also shows up for one frame in the steam trailer

So my questions are:

1: Why does this tree keep showing up? Is it where Connectifa orignated? Is it just Ian's screensaver? Is it a real tree in the Rhythm Doctor world?

Deciphering Axel's "maybe"

I've been thinking about it lately and since Ripaxel is still together in the finale. Axels "maybe" comment, initially thought to be a hint to a break up, can only make sense in 2 contexts.

One. She did intend to break up with Ripper, since her relationship with him cost her a million dollars, and that their relationship was a liability. Ripper then somehow managed to win her back on the Playa de Losers (or on Boney Island whichever you prefer)

Or two, my personal headcanon, is that the "maybe" referred to the amount of time she thought they would spend apart. Maybe she thought that Ripper had what it took to make it to the end, and that they wouldn't see each other for a while. She thought she "maybe" might have a chance to see him, or maybe not, since she thought he could go far.

And I honestly think that's adorable. Sure, Ripper took it the wrong way and Axel isn't great with words but I can see the positive intent behind that singular word. She probably explained what she meant as soon as they had time to talk, hence them still being together.

hey uh just a warning this was written at like 4am in the morning one night when I didn't sleep and I no longer really stand by this I do still belive souls are like caffeine but it's more in line with the sugar on steriods description I used rather than the really strong stuff think the amount used in sodas like cola or like a latte rather than black coffee there's no addiction factor and a better comparison would be that souls are like Mario power ups more than caffeine they provide a temporary boost but are ultimately beneficial to those who use them

Once Again this was written really late at night when I had no sleep so it's very scuffed and I phrase things VERY wrong and overall it's just bad and I'm embarrassed I posted this from now on character analysis/headcanon posts will only be done if I'm in the correct state of mind so let me say this

No Snatcher is not addicted to souls they are just really tasty and beneficial magic sources that can heighten someones emotional state and have a naturally alluring aura to freshly dead spirits. Who need a bit of a magic boost

The souls did not effect his mental state that severely he just lost his mind as the years went by and started excusing the murder by thinking "oh its their fault they came here they were practically asking for death"

And once again these are my HEADCANONS everyone has their own and I'd love to hear them if anyone wants to share them!

Just please be aware by going past the read more your find a very wrong scuffed up post that I really dislike now due to the confusing phrasing and comparisons

So I've been thinking about how Snatcher got into the habit of eating souls and I've come to the conclusion that for a weak scared spirit souls are not only tempting but also addicting think about these lines during one of the Snatcher streams and while not Canon they're a pretty good source to base headcanons on

Souls are described as similar to caffeine which can be addicting in the sense that they offer a physical boost for a short while to whoever consumes it caffeine is notorious for helping people pull all nighters and giving a sudden surge of hyperactivity it's like sugar on steroids however there is the aforementioned "crash" which apparently souls lack there's also supposedly a lot more benefits with souls

It isn't really elaborated on other than stuff that wouldn't apply to a ghost (extending one's lifetime) so let's move on

I like to think that instead of a "crash" the effects of the soul slowly fade out making the mental high of consuming them even more alluring due to the fact the fade time can be extended by consuming more than one which leads into the addiction factor if it's hard to understand trough text I drew some doodles to help explain

That crazed state is the ideal for Snatcher no empathy no emotions just constant euphoria and manic behavior to scare away intruders I personally believe that Prince started consuming souls to distract from all the grief and got himself addicted to them and the mental high they provided slowly becoming more accustomed to the erratic effects on his behavior and adapting them into scarring away intruders

Anyways this is just a funky character study/headcanon post soon feel free to write your own opinions and headcanons on why Snatcher consumes souls

Ok so I just finished and then rewatched the umbrella academy, and it finally processed to me that they 1. Had their names before five had disappeared, 2. Ben has the same name in both universes and 3. Their mother had picked their names.

This means that their mother had either randomly generated names for every kid and Ben just so happened to get Ben twice, or she has some type of algorithm to pick which name would be best for each kid based on their DNA or something which is why Ben got Ben.

Why wouldn’t 5 have a name, then? I have two theories, one is kind of boring and the other one is a lot of a stretch. Also, none of these have actual evidence to go with it so theories is all they are.

Theory 1. Five is a little bitch and refused to respond to whatever name their mom (who I forgot the name of, whoops) gave to them out of spite to their father, or just to be a little shit. Hell, maybe he just wasn’t used to responding to a different name than “five” so they just gave up and stuck with it.

And theory 2. Their mom couldn’t find a name for five. Hear me out on this one, ok? Five is a time traveler right? Right. So, maybe their mom couldn’t find a different name because she already new his DNA along another name in some types of system, maybe she and her alien technology robotic system could see that in the past (the actual past, like the 60s and five’s commission days) somebody with that DNA had the name of five, and just decided that that was his name. Again, it doesn’t make sense and is a LOT of a stretch but shut up I just woke up cut me some slack. Also hey, it’s just a theory.

why did red really accept kane’s offer? (theory)

short answer: this was an opportunity to take kane down along with mike.

long answer: He doesn’t like kane or mike one bit. Kane is corrupt, and mike “destroyed his home.” At first it seemed pathetic (to red LOL) to ask red to team up with him in the first place, but if red thought about it more.. it’d make sense to accept. It wasn’t even fair at all to fight mike when all 5 burners would just show up to ruin everything anyway. That’s why red backed out during vendetta. Besides, the only person he was after was mike. Just mike. Teaming up with kane would give him access to more advanced tech, and kane’s trust. He’d never bite as long as red didnt screw anything up; so for now, red has to stay loyal until he takes mike down. And then it’d be kane’s turn..

what’s the end goal here, red? I’m suspecting he’s planning to just end all the conflict by taking both sides down. They’re both the reason why his home was destroyed in the first place, so this is payback!! D:<
