how did you first get into cr?
i can't remember if i've told this story on here before but here we go: i was really into the last of us, especially part 2. it came out just a couple weeks after my grandad died, so i was using that as a way to process my grief. probably not the best idea given the games themes, but hey.
shannon woodward (who plays dina) started streaming on twitch. i regularly watched her and became an active member of her community (and eventually became a mod) and the people in there would talk about this d&d show with ashley johnson and laura bailey that was on every thursday. i tried watching for ashley and laura, but i just wasn't into it. i couldn't really focus on 4-5 hours of people just sitting around a table playing dungeons and dragons (a game i'd never played before and didn't know the rules for.) the thought of having to watch hundreds of hours to catch up was daunting, even though i really really wanted to. i think i made it to episode 3 of campaign 2 and stopped.
a few friends who i gamed with (who are now my best friends) would talk about it constantly, and they eventually convinced me to try again. they told me about the animated recaps and said that the story really kicks off in the 20s so i was like fuck it. i had nothing else to do because we were in the middle of a pandemic, i was still grieving, and i had been looking for a show to put on in the background while i tried to work on my art. (tried being the key word here. i really was ready to give up on my art before i found critical role.)
anyway yeah, i became obsessed. i binged the entirety of campaign 2 in a few months. not only did i find joy in watching them play, but it pulled me out of my grief induced art block and helped me actually like what i was creating again.
i didn't get to watch the finale live, but i did watch it when i'd fully caught up and cried all the way through. i didn't realize just how attached i was to the characters until i didn't have them anymore. in a way, it helped me process my grief for my grandad. if i could say goodbye to them, i could say goodbye to him.
when campaign 3 started, i watched the premiere live but i said that there was no way i could stay up every week to watch it, since it airs at 3am here. i was very wrong lol. getting up at 3am on fridays is my favourite part of the week. and i'm very thankful for finding critical role when i did :)

POST FROM MY OLD ACCOUNT I DIDNT COPY THIS FROM ANYONE BUT ME!!
I WAS TITTIESOFBINNIE
PIERCINGS
Pairing: Christopher bang chan x fem!reader
Tags: friends!to lovers, titties(??), female receiving, oral sex, pet name(?)
Author note:
I’m 21 and I’m thinking about getting a nipple piercing since I’m 16 or so, but if I do it my parents will kick me out of the house, so I’m just gonna wait until I leave this house and then I can pierce my bobbies.
I thought a LOT about posting this, I’m so insicure about my English, as I said it’s not my first language and I’m always scared to make mistakes or stuff like that, so if you find mistakes please let me know, I’ll be thankful and also my English will improve!
Request are open!❤️
"I swear to God if you don't stop moving I'm gonna kick you out of the bed" Chan says next to you
"I know, I'm sorry Chris"
"What is it? You're not comfy?, it's not the first time that we sleep together"
"It's not that, I'm comfy. I'm freezing, you put the air conditioner at a polar temperature"
He snorts
"Come here, kitten I'm going to heat you up"
He opens his arms, and you snuggle between them, resting your head on his chest
"Better?"
He asks
"Yes, definitely, you feel like a bonfire"
"And you feel like a piece of ice"
He laugh
"You're so comfy, I've missed this, also your skin smells amazing”
"Oh really? I’ve missed you too”
"Mhmm, it's been so long since the last time that we sleep like that"
"I know, I'm sorry"
"Don't apologize, you travel because of your job, you don't leave friends and family just because you want to"
You whisper
"I know"
The two of you stay in this position for a while, you're falling asleep, his skin is so warm.
"Y/n?”
He whispers
"Mhh?"
"There is something that is poking me"
"It's my penis"
You laugh
"No, it's a higher up, and you don't a penis, I know that, I saw you in your underwear and there was no penis"
"Then i think you're talking about my nipple piercings"
"Excuse me, your what?"
He asks
"Are you deaf?"
"no, I mean, I'm speechless. Why didn't you tell me nothing about it?"
"What I was supposed to do? Send a picture of my boobs to you?"
You say lifting your head from his chest to look him in the eyes even if the room it's dark
"No, i mean..”
You sit and turn on the light on the bedside table
"Ooh i see them"
He says looking at your boobs through the shirt your wearing
"Psst, asshole my eyes are up here"
"Language mi lady"
"You're seriously complaining about a swearword? You're looking at my boobs" "They're looking at me"
He sits up
"Can...can i see them? I mean without the shirt? It's not the first time that I see your boobs, remember that time that I had to take you a bath because you drank to much soju and you puked all over your self?"
"Please let's not talk about that night, it was awkward, also don't mention soju ever again”
“It was a funny night, best night of my life actually, first time that you kissed me”
He says smiling
“Sshhhhhh, if you stop talking about it i’m gonna show you”
He shuts up, he’s looking at you waiting for something to happend
“You have a condition”
“Mh, which one?”
“Don’t tell the kids what we’re about to do”
“We’re about to do something?”
You lift up your shirt, you’re covering your face slightly embarrassed, as he said it’s not the first time that the both of you sees each other naked, he given to you the bath after ‘the soju episode’, you walk around the dorm in your underwear and sometimes you sneak inside the bathroom when he’s taking a shower because you have the biggest gossip about a friend.
“They’re beautiful, I wish I could touch them”
“Do it”
You say
“They’re perfectly healed”
“Are you sure?”
He asks
“Yes Channie, do it”
Chan is freezed, you take off you shirt, you’re not that cold anymore, you feel like you could catch fire in any moment from now on, you take one of his hands and place it on one of your breasts
“See? There nothing to be scared about, they don’t bite”
“You know what? Fuck off”
He wrap his arm around your waist and pull, Now you’re straddly on him
“What are you waiting for big boy? Do it”
He kept looking at your eyes, then your lips, and again your eyes. A little smirk appeared on his face and finally he kisses you.
It’s been so long since the last time that you kissed a man that you don’t know what to do, you place your hands between his curls, the make out session has began.
He bites your bottom lip, his hands are on your breast, a little moan slips from your lips, he’s kissing you everywhere, your lips, your neck, collarbone, shoulder and finally your titts
“Fuck Christopher”
He makes you lie down, he puts himself on top of you by continuing to suck your tits, he bites your nipple, pulling a little one of the two piercings.
Your moans are getting louder, you can’t cum just because he’s sucking your tits right?
He leaves the breasts, both of them are red now, and you can see bite marks all over them, he’s going down, he’s kissing your belly, you’re covered by shivers
“Can I?”
He asks, pulling the elastic of the underwear with the teeth, you nod
“Use your words kitten, I want to hear your voice”
“Yes, Christopher please eat me, I’m begging you, please”
“Good girl”
Move your panties to one side, and start eating you out
“Fuck you’re so wet”
he kept sucking, biting on your clit, with one hand he’s still playing with one of the two piercings.
Two fingers of the other hand inside you going in and out
“Fuck”
“Chris, i’m…I’m cumming, keep going please”
“I’m not stopping” he says returning to eating your cunt, you scream his name and squirt all over his face
You’re out of breath, now he’s licking his fingers
“Fuck I’m sorry Chan”
“Sorry? For what?” He asks
“I didn’t mean to do that”
“It’s okay baby, let’s clean up yeah”
He says
“Wait”
“What kitten?”
“Can I have another kiss?”
You asks
“I would love to do that, but I have a huge boner right now, if I kiss you I’m gonna cum in my pants, so let’s clean you up, I calm down and then I can kiss, maybe”
He says with a big smile on his face
He disappear inside the bathroom, you can’t stop smiling
“Kitten”
Chan says from the bathroom
“please put your shirt on, I can’t calm down if you have your tits out”
“You’re right, sorry”
You apologize, put the shirt on and sit on the bed waiting for Chan
“By the way”
He enters in the bedroom
“I love your piercings, next time send me a picture”
“In your dreams asshole”
You say laughing.

"To be there on that day with him and Catherine, and faces that I grew up with, that like, essentially raised you, was just very, very overwhelming."
"Quite exciting to shoot two regeneration scenes within a few weeks of each other. The one with Ncuti, of course, was very different; very different to anything the show has done before."
"...Just when you think nothing can happen, you can never have two Doctors, oh, except you can!..."
"David Tennant and Ncuti Gatwa in one scene together, with Bonnie Langford on one side, Catherine Tate on the other, faced by Neil Patrick Harris. Everything thrown in; it's marvellous."
"Episode 3 is something that Doctor Who does really well, which is simply nuts..."
"I got a DM from Russell on Instagram...from page one, The Toymaker is a very intoxicating and juicy part. I set the whole thing down, I texted him back and said: "Let's go.""
"It's a great bit of casting to get Neil Patrick Harris. There's not many people you can think of who had the skill set. You've got to be able to sing and dance a bit, he's got to be able to do some ludicrous accents. He's got to be sleight of hand. It's very important that he can juggle. I don't know who else we could've got. If he'd said 'no', I think we'd have been in trouble."
"Neil; he just brought so many different layers and aspects to that character. I thought it was a brilliant piece of casting and just great fun."
"Another thing about Neil actually; when you're casting a villain in Doctor Who like this, you've got to get someone who can match David Tennant. That's hard to do. There are not many actors in the world who can actually hit that peak and be a proper enemy to him. So that's Neil..."
"I didn't do so much with the puppets a Catherine did...they were horrifying. I think there'll be some nightmares after this episode. I kind of become a puppet at one point...that was a - quite a complex little sequence."
"And the Vlinx is an extraordinary creation. I love the fact that there's no real explanation of where the Vlinx has come from or what it is..."
"...I wasn't really expecting to come back for this. I was very, very excited when Russell contacted me...seeing Mel brought back to life in a lovely, rounded form was so joyful..."
"To be on that open air helipad with David, with Ncuti, it was really magic. I think everyone knew...could feel the history in the air. Everyone knew something monumental was happening then."
"I feel very fortunate that one of my - I guess my very last scene in the show - is Ncuti's first scene in the show, and I get to actually be responsible in some ways for the new Doctor's appearance...I take a pride in the fact that I got to be there."
"We had this motion control camera which would sort of recreate the same movement so that several images can all be combined. It was exciting. But yes, having just met Ncuti, we had to get very intimate, very quickly and be sort of strapped to each other."
"It was so epic. David is like, an icon to all of us. To me, he's like one of the reasons that I became an actor. I don't know; he signifies everything to me that like an actor should be or can be. I remember getting like a copy of his Hamlet before I went to drama school, and it was very much like: 'This is - this is an actor.' David Tennant as the Doctor and myself as the Doctor, it was just so much fun. The catch scene was a lot of fun."
"In the script, there's just a page where it says: 'Catch, catch, catch, catch, catch, catch, catch.' That informed everyone that the intention was to, you know, to really drag this out; to make it feel like, precarious and on which so much rested."
"That scene was just very exciting because it's like each Doctor has like a moment where they're kind of getting used to their new body and so that's what that scene essentially was for me. And so that was like the funnest way to do that part of the Doctor's story."
"All three of us as actors are fairly physical and it required us to do a lot of single and individual shots; to be to be as cool looking as possible and as effective as possible because some of them were dives and catches, drone shots. To watch the three of us together I thought was really fun."
"It was trying to find enough ways to catch a ball differently. There's also a moment where I kind of had to propel myself off Ncuti's back, and we needed something to give us that lift, so yeah, a bit of trampette work; some of my finest."
"I could never, ever catch the ball, and so we ended up having to fake it...I was terrible at that."
"You would try and sort of palm it, behind your hand, and then do that as you caught it, which should hopefully make us look slightly better at catching than any of the three of us actually were.
"Ncuti did a one-handed cartwheel, just like it was nothing."
"I was going to do the one-handed cartwheel, but unfortunately Ncuti got in first so, as he was the new boy, I had to let him do it. Mine's a little bit better than his but it is what it is; it's fine. I'm okay with it."
"It's a physical show, but you know, when you're acting with those two, it just felt really exciting."
"So the Toymaker's magic mallet still has some inter-dimensional power left, which allows the new Doctor to double-up the TARDIS with, with one well placed whack. So we had two TARDISes; one TARDIS becomes two TARDIS."
"...when Russell told me that we were putting a ramp in the TARDIS, I - I cried. I did. He actually told me about a fan who had contacted him, who was a wheelchair user...he said: "Even though I can't get in the TARDIS, because it's not wheelchair accessible, I just love it." And Russell was like: "So we change it, instantly. We change that." When he told me that story, that really hit me, straight in the heart. I know what that will mean for the disabled community and many disabled Whovians who haven't had that; that's the first time the TARDIS is wheelchair accessible, and to know that it will be like that forever now feels - I'm gonna get emotional -...no, it's good because that's what it means because to know that I was part of that change - it's really special."
"I mean, who knows? I don't know what happens next. That's the exciting thing."
"The end is very simple; actually...It means David is parked, David is living. For once, we've got a happy Doctor who is no longer saving the universe, but that's parked, with Donna, for a happy life."
"Yeah, I suppose the Doctor will settle into being an honorary member of the Mott-Noble-Temple clan, and will see out his days drinking tea and trying to stop Wilfred shooting the moles I suppose."

Turtles Finds a Coping Mechanism: The Until We Meet Again Rewatches
I've been so committed to crushing through the Old GMMTV Challenge that I kind of didn't allow myself to think that life's blips and bloops would shake me from my pace.
Well, real life has SLAYED ME as of late, SLAYED ME, and as @lurkingshan has noted to me -- yes, there's a CERTAIN amount of dissonance for my watching UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, OF ALL SHOWS, as a coping mechanism, but here we are. I wanted to copy @bengiyo and rewatch UWMA anyway as a means of preparing for New Siwaj's Absolute Zero, which will be premiering at the end of September -- a time when my life will be calm-ish (???) again -- so I decided to take the plunge to see if UWMA would be a salve to my frayed nerves. It is, it totally is.
So here's some stream of consciousness notes, quite unlike my usual comparative/analytical style, just to honor what a ridiculously fabulous show UWMA is. (In my OGMMTVC analyses, I don't always get to gush over the cute stuff anyway because my posts get so long, so I'm doing a little of that here, too, ha.)
I knew that as soon as I watched it the first time for the OGMMTVC that I desperately wanted to rewatch it, so I just gave myself the go-ahead to eat the leum kleun candy. I've already completed one rewatch and am well into a second rewatch -- this show is so damn good, and now that I know the beats much better, I'm just having a lot of fun seeing in-depth the little nuances I missed the first time.
1) On my first watch, I did not appreciate how clearly Pharm was into Dean from the very start. The way Pharm flips through the photos of Dean that Team sends him from the first beach trip; the photo of Dean eating Del's breakfast; the way Pharm looks at the Facebook photo of Dean holding up the leum kleun. And how Pharm reacts when he saves Dean's phone number in his phone -- that ENORMOUS grin. I knew a lot going in the first time about Pharm's blushing maiden approach and how he was gunshy with intimacy for so much of the show. But I forgot in those early episodes -- homeboy was really into his crush! Taking that secret photo in the library, etc. He acknowledged it pretty immediately -- especially in that whispered conversation Pharm has with Team and Manaow in their English class. I had also forgotten that the show began with Pharm possibly questioning his sexuality, but being solidly knowledgable that it was Dean that was causing him to catch feelings.
2) Speaking of that fleeting moment in the library: after having watched the entire series the first time around, and remembering that Dean had saved that very first Post-It that Pharm had used to write a quick note on the papers that Pharm gave back to Dean in the library in... episode 2? Pharm had originally erased his name on that Post-It. It didn't click with me until this rewatch that Dean was able to make out Pharm's erased name from that Post-It -- which caused Dean to save the note, and use it as reference in the very last scene of the series. So cute.
3) I finally took the time to read about Phra Aphai Mani, the prince of the legend that Dean and Pharm talk about in the aquarium. Remember how Pharm says to Dean that Pharm doesn't like players?
DUDES. HAVE YOU READ ABOUT PHRA APHAI MANI? I guess, like, yes, if you're gonna have a super-long epic poem, a lot of shit needs to happen, but Aphai just kept marrying WIFE AFTER WIFE! FOUR WIVES TOTAL! One ogress, one mermaid, and two maybe humans? A half-ogress son here, a half-mer/son THERE, prince of THIS, king of THAT. Homeboy's life was COMPLICATED! I'm all EXTREMELY SYMPATHETIC to chaos, but this takes the damn cake. (And maybe gives me a touch more context into what's happening with that second marriage in I Feel You Linger In the Air, without the actual monsters/mermaids.) (Oh man -- imagine the Only Friends version of Phra Aphai Mani.) (NO.)
4) The first time around, I kind of though that the bits about Alex hitting on Pharm were a little extraneous and maybe a touch unnecessary, à la New Siwaj's style. But after my first rewatch, I stopped thinking so, and I actually began to enjoy them -- not only for how ridiculous they are, but I also recognized that that was the first time in the show that we see Pharm establishing boundaries. Of course, we see Pharm in his blushing maiden era forming boundaries with his P'Deeeean. But the way he's very clear with Alex, putting up as many walls as necessarily, and being exact in his communication that he likes someone else and is VERY not into dating Alex -- Pharm showed clarity and strength there. While Dean clearly liked to care for Pharm and treat Pharm as his younger companion -- Pharm also had agency, and knew he owned his agency, and I liked how that agency was first demonstrated vis à vis Alex.
5) I totally forgot about this, but -- I think it was the second time they had breakfast together in Pharm's condo? the third? that scene where Pharm's wearing the yellow shirt and he drops the bowl -- remember when Pharm asks Dean if he's mixed-race? I don't think I still understand the meaning of that. I'm guessing Pharm is asking if Dean is Thai-Chinese? I want to think on this more, because -- in episode 16, when Pharm goes to his uncle's/grandpa's house, it is clear that the house is a Thai-Chinese household. There are banners with Chinese script on the walls. I wonder if that was meant to indicate that Pharm was under the impression that he himself (Pharm) was fully ethnic Thai -- but with his relationship to his dad's side of the family being more revealed, it would turn out that Pharm himself was also "mixed." I did think it was cute that Pharm said, "I like it" to Dean after Dean's answer -- another instance where Pharm was being clearly flirty, despite the whole blushing maiden thing.
6) I did not appreciate the first time around, how good Ohm Thitiwat's acting was in the car scene when he's processing Korn's suicide. At the end of the series, I was so taken by the condo scene that I failed to give props to other intense moments, and that car scene was one of them. When Dean arrives at the building where Pharm and Sin lived next to each other -- a part of me wondered if he had originally intended to visit Sin, before hesitating to knock on Pharm's door. I'm not sure, and I wasn't sure after this rewatch. But that was a hell of a recognition moment on the part of Ohm's acting, and it was really damn good. (In fact -- it was my thinking about that car scene, and my wanting to watch it again, that prompted these rewatches in the first place.)
7) It may have been a little confusing, but: I really liked that the Korn x Intouch flashbacks were never presented in chronological order. I liked that the show had Dean and Pharm piece together their dreams and nightmares to come to a collective understanding about the trajectory of Korn and Intouch's relationship, even before Dean receives the background information from Sin. I know I was always a little confused during my first watch as to what moment in time I was watching with Korn and Intouch, but I recognize now that that was a reflection simply of when Pharm and Dean were receiving the same information themselves -- and I liked that the viewer was going through the same process that Dean and Pharm were going through.
8) At the way beginning of the series -- episode 2, maybe? episode 3? -- I like that Dean slyly figures out where to park himself on campus to see Pharm coming out of class. This is before the electric transformer explosion. Dean already was so swayed by Pharm. So cute.
9) I think it first struck me as a touch weird that Manaow and Del (Dean's sister!) were the admins of the DeanPharm chat group. But now that I can think more about it -- I wonder if they were doing that maybe as a way to help Pharm through his hesitancy and protect him from the fans. That being said: one of my absolute favorite moments was when Del first leans about Dean's first sleepover at Pharm's condo -- the way she jumps up and down and tries to calm her smile down. I was CRAAACKING up.
10) Maybe it's because I'm Indian, and used to very large and complicated families, that the relationship between Dean being a part of Intouch's family and having Korn's spirit, and vice versa with Pharm, wasn't confusing to me. But what really got me during my first rewatch was: Fluke Natouch's just INCREDIBLE acting when Pharm first meets Intouch's sister/Dean's grandmother, and Intouch's niece/Dean's mother. When I first watched the scene of Pharm meeting Dean's grandmother, a number of friends commented on loving that scene as well. GOD. It struck me as hard the second time around as the first time. And I think I was even MORE moved the second time around to see Pharm meeting Dean's mother.
Dean's mother had to process a LOT in the moment that she met Pharm. She had to process that her son had a boyfriend, that that boyfriend was there in her house in the first place, and that she'd have to tell her husband (Dean's dad) that their son's boyfriend was sleeping over. AND, that was all BEFORE Pharm had his reaction to Dean's mom once he was finally awake and processing things again. And THEN, she knew that Dean HIMSELF would have to tell his dad the next day and ask for his blessing. Moms have to go through a lot (do I ever know that life), but that was a LOT for Dean's mom, and god, I just gained a new appreciation for those scenes and how Dean and Pharm managed the whole damn thing together. (Also, now that I've seen The Love of Siam, as well as, of course, KinnPorsche -- and, OH, Be My Favorite, too! Kob Songsit. LEGENDARY BL DAD!)
11) My initial flip-out on the condo scene still stands. During my rewatch, I rewound it, like... three times? Fuck, man. One of the BEST BL scenes, ever, ever.
12) I loved taking my time to watch the very final scene, when Dean and Pharm have had the same dream of Korn and Intouch thanking them, and they get back together. I really loved paying attention to how all the Post-Its came back, the meaning of Never Forget, all the little notes and memories of when they had first met. Intouch's ring, the very first note Pharm wrote to Dean, all of it. Dean was such a sentimental simp from the start.
(Because I'm on such a DeanPharm kick -- and I know this is against better advice, but -- I'm considering a fast watch of Between Us just to see DeanPharm's conclusion. I know! The side couples are supposed to be chaotic, but, but. Once I get more time.)
13) Last note. Again, when I have time again, I'm wanting to write a Big Meta on separation. I've noted in some of the most important GMMTV BLs, that separation is often a key theme. But I think Pharm asking for a break was also incredibly key, and keyed into his continued commitment to setting boundaries. I think I probably fell most for Pharm as a character with him doing this -- strange, I know, since I love DeanPharm incessantly, but his standing up for clarity for his feelings meant so much for the internal strength he had gained by surviving the ordeal they had gone through. He was going to stick to his guns to make sure the relationship was authentic FOR HIM, and he did just that.
GOD, THIS WAS CATHARTIC! If you read this, thanks for going through this with me! I'm addicted to writing and this was a fun break in the midst of life chaos. I promise the OGMMTVC will hopefully continue without interruption, but that being said -- I'm watching Not Me, slowly, and having a great time with it. But UWMA is my woobie at the moment, and I just love having fallen in love with this show.

Your last post is funny bc just TODAY I watched that season finally. I’m literally 2 episodes into season 5 right now. As someone who just watched that for the first time (and hadn’t noticed it WAS the season finally when I started watching it) I was losing my goddamn MIND watching those episodes. Just constantly 😯😯😯. I began watching 911 when I started seeing posts circulating about Buck being bi. At the time I had no idea who he was other than the occasional gif set but it made me intrigued and I have been HOOKED. Literally trying to get through as many episodes as possible so I can watch the episodes live. Questions for you (since I have no one else to talk to about the show); when did you start watching? Have you had any predictions while watching the show that didn’t/ did come true? Like for me when I watched season 1 and Abby went to the fire department for the first time I SWORE up and down that her and Bobby were meant to be endgame (was clearly wrong lol). But also after Chris got stuck in the Tsunami I called it that something would happy to Harry later on (just a feeling that no one was safe lol, not even the kids). I’m just so curious to see what the fandom theories have been over time lol since I missed out on it!
Yeah, no, watching suspicion/survivors for the first time is WILD. Like, imma be honest and bit oversharing, I watched the show for the first time in a depressive episode, so I watched everything up to 5x10 in like, 6 days according to the posts I made on Tumblr about it, so I didn't realize theorize about anything, I was just hitting next episode like my life depended on it. But I didn't know anything about the show, like, at all, I had just watched 911 lone star in a weekend because it was on the tv and there were only like, 20 episodes of it out it at the time and a network in my country was just showing all of them on a loop, and I opened the Disney app fully intending to rewatch grey's anatomy, and 911 was the first show on my recommended to you list, and I had liked lone star enough, and was like sure why not. And I legit couldn't stop watching. All of this happened the week before 5x11 aired on the us, so 5x11 was the first episode I watched like "live" (the first episode I actually watched live was 5x16) but I watched it in the same week, I think I finished on a Tuesday? And the episode aired on Monday. I can't really give you any theories I have witnessed so far because they would be spoilers tho, but if you wanna come back once you catch up we can talk about some of the madness that goes around here. But I had the same thing happen to me, I didn't realize it was the season finale, and I didn't know anything about the show, so I had no idea what was happening, and I thought I had learned my lesson with the tsunami arc, because I watched 3x01 at like 3 am fully saying this is the last episode I will watch and then I'm gonna go to bed, and then the tsunami hit, and I was like well fuck and then Chris fell in the water and next thing I know is 5 am and Eddie is making me cry at the end there. But I saw the 13 and didn't realize the season only had 14 episodes and then everything kept happening. I seriously cannot imagine what it was like to be forced to wait a week between those 2 episodes it was SO CRAZY. When Eddie got shot I legit froze. Watching that for the first time not knowing it's coming is SOMETHING. I do remember thinking that they were gonna kill Shannon but I didn't expect to be right, I also remember clocking that Jason was Doug pretty fast. Something funny tho, I remember posting that meme that's like "I've had blank for 1 day and a half but if anything happened to him I'd kill everyone in this room and myself" with Buck and I waited until I had been watching for a day and a half, that means I posted it while watching the season 2 finale. I hit post and the truck blew up and I legit went like ????????? and that is still the most ironic thing that ever happened to me while posting about 911 kspskspkspakapkapa (here's the post, I actually came back to edit the tags because I was in shock lol) and I laugh every time I remember that lol but I'm glad you're enjoying the show, you can come back to talk to me about it any time!;

Doctor Who The Giggle
60th anniversary in the bag!
I enjoyed that the whole thesis of this is the Doctor finally reckoning with all the pain he has. Because it's true, he usually runs away or if he does take a break, it seems like he takes the first excuse he can find to distract himself.
The episode did enjoy bringing up loads of past stories, which did get a little tiresome toward the end. But the summary of the Moffat-era companions for Donna was quite good. "Well that's all right then!" Lots of companions had not-quite-deaths.
It was interesting that the two games that were played were extremely simple. I like it. The Doctor knew that he couldn't win by being "the smartest man in the room." So while imo the catch game was a little weird and anticlimactic, it made sense.
I'm surprised that the revised bi-generation leak didn't end up being accurate. The one where 15 was pulled from the moment of 14's actual regeneration in the future. Maybe the leaker got that from 15's line that he's mentally healthier because 14 ends up doing the work, and that therapy goes out of order.
For some reason I'm more okay with bi-generation having actually seen it. I think it's because they made it look like mitosis lol. And THIS is why 14 wasn't wearing 13's clothes; they were weird special clothes that would split along with the bi-generation! Maybe! Also this means that 14 was going commando for the entire last act.
I'm still super cynical about how they probably did this so they could get another show with Tennant. Hopefully that never happens. But I still wonder what will happen when 14 dies? It'll probably be that 15 took all the regenerations lol.
Someone on reddit pointed out that they used the "Last Christmas" score in Wild Blue Yonder when the Doctor and Donna were talking about if he was all right. And they used it again here!! Ugh, I love that score. I haven't watched Last Christmas since it first aired but I've listened to that track many times (I should watch it again this Christmas!). If I remember, the story was about slowing down and appreciating the relationships you have, which is what The Giggle is about too! "Every Christmas is last Christmas" :,)
I said somewhere that I would do unspeakable things if they used the Heaven Sent score again. Which they didn't (yet), thank goodness. I thought I heard a few notes of it as they were arriving at UNIT, but it was so few that it was probably just a passing similarity.
I felt so vindicated when 15 pointed out that the TARDIS needs a chair!! Yes, it always needs chairs! But I don't see one in your TARDIS yet, 15, only a jukebox!!
If I had a nickel for every time a mysterious hand picked up a small item that contained the Master, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. And where is that hand even coming from, it's right on the edge of the helipad!
David did a great job at portraying the Doctor as someone who had the extra ~1000 years (or billions, depending on who you ask) after 10. I think the face came back because 10 was the one who lived for the shortest amount of time, and 10 was the most scared of change and "letting go." If the Doctor's going to heal, it's this personality that needs to do it. Or else it won't stick.
I'm so excited for Ncuti Gatwa. The Giggle was the ending to the 2005 show, which is so weird to think about. I didn't expect it to do that--I thought that the "season 1" renumbering would be pretty arbitrary. But I like that it ended. I never expected feel a sense of closure from Doctor Who, but it's there.
On to Christmas!

Arguably one of the strongest character building episodes in the entire series, The Daisho Caper is fantastically unique in its motivations, gorgeous scenery and animation, and subversion of expectations. I’m so ready for this unique and spectacular episode. LET’S GET IT GOING!!!!
(and yes. im mega late. working on it. notes under the cut as always!)
Tumblr media
I love this infodump section so much. It’s really beautiful and super unique in that it starts the episode and also happens in a flashback (almost everything about this episode is unique?? From singing to a rejected redemption arc there are lots of things in this episode that never happen again
LIL BABY CARMEN
AWWW WAIT CARMEN ASKS IF HE CAN TAKE HER TO JAPAN AND YEARS LATER HE GETS TO. DAD MOMENT
And you can see how shadow-san distances himself from her as she gets older
Sleepy carmen <333
Sleepy EVERYONE
SHADOWLOLADLOWLEHEE HOO
That ironic little “heh” carmen does is so. Yeah i dont know i love it
Man hideo got SUMMONED she put one finger on the glass and he teleported
HOW ABOUT SORRY, CARMEN
Hideo is honestly so perceptive he would kill it in miraculous ladybug /j okay but seriously he’s already noticed what she knows and he even recognizes her when. Literally not even the law enforcement agency dedicated to catching her could at one point
“Dark forces” checks out, seeing as shadow-san basically means mr. shadow
I love when they get bitchy with each other
Also HI the animation is SOO PRETTY THIS EPISODE
More than a feeling by boston. Its by boston you guys do you get it its by boston
Also this karaoke scene SLAPS
Not zack pulling down shadowsan’s clothing. Yas bitch show a little slutty shoulder
Tumblr media
THEYRE HAVING SO MUCH FUN <333
Zack and ivy: thank you thank you!!!!
Carmen and Shadowsan: okay well now that theyve shut the fuck up we can continue talking i guess
MAN HE SAID SPIES AND ASSASSINS AND HE’S REMEMBERING DEXTER…SPYING AND ASSASSINATION WAS WHAT HE WAS THERE FOR AND HE HAS TO CONFRONT IT NOW
HE CAN’T REALLY BECOME A SAMURAI IN THE EYES OF HIMSELF AND HIS BROTHER UNTIL HE CONFRONTS THAT PIECE OF HIS PAST AND LEARNS TO GROW FROM IT WITH CARMEN. MAN THIS EPISODE
PAPER STAR <333
Wait dokuso says “i called you here” do senior operatives have some caper perms? Can dokuso contact the faculty and be like HEY can i borrow paper star
Not quite sure what the little maneuver in the air was supposed to help avoid because it did. Nothing
HNNG okay i’ve dumped on jo’s DMs about this shot but its SO pretty
Tumblr media
Follows the rule of thirds line, the gorgeous lighting, paper star framed in the moon, the perspective and use of space, the petals blowing in the wind, glowing in the light. ACTUAL LITERAL ART
Rip deleted scene where paper star says “sheep dont fly” the first time ig
Season two and those slide-under-projectile shots
Carmen and chucking painful building materials at evil gay women this season
Carmen loves that little flip over the shoulder move
Also I LOVE that you can just watch Carmen figure out who Suhara is immediately its cool
Tumblr media
whats up with the dirt on his face
SO BEGINS THE VILE FACULTY SAGA honestly such a fun plot point from this season they'll literally try out anyone
GOD the bridge and the cherry blossoms and the water have I mentioned how gorgeous this episode is
there's always more to the story with shadowsan
also mmm i love. i love that carmen isnt quite certain, so she says "suhara" very quietly. she's testing it out, and the look on shadowsan's face is all she needs to figure out that she's right
just another little tiny clue that shadowsan knows more than he lets on about her past. why would he be guilty about simply not knowing where she came from? if his cover story was true, he would if anything be carmen's savior from a terrible death or being picked up by some random people or something. just. god really good.
SHADOWSAN IS SO TALL NEXT TO HER SJDGDHS
god that transition with the cherry blossoms was good
i feel so bad for hideo he didn't deserve shadowsangst
btw i want to see a spinoff with the faculty/shadow-san's school and early crime days
man the confrontation scene is so raw. hideo is shaking, holding that sword, but he is fucking ready to fight his brother about keeping the sword. man its good
Tumblr media
appreciate the scenery
that reveal of the shot being a puddle is also so good this episode is literally art
i love rewatching this episode for the little details- the camera always stopping before ivy's face, the swords discreetly disappearing as the cart goes by. you don't even notice the first time
i know they kill people and stuff but the hoodlums are kinda sweet. yess kings sing that karaoke
i wonder if the elvis song was a nod to the elvis episode they wanted to do with shadowsan (duane said they had to scrap it and im SOOO MAD)
ivy and zack must just have full charisma stats bc i dont know how they keep getting away with blending in literally everywhere. maam thats a white bitch in a wig
i love the three of them immediately sweating their balls off when shadowsan grabs the sword
EVEN THE IMPACT FRAMES ARE COOL
Tumblr media
btw the tattoos in this episode are cool i wish more non yakuza members had them
that app on carmen's phone is a gaydar
how long was paper star just sitting in the packaging just going "ooghhh yeah im like a fucking jack in the box im gonna scare her so bad ooogh"
i love the kitty fans
not sure what carmen was going to do with the fans anyway seeing as she doesnt know how to use them as a weapons but whatever
oh nevermind she. i guess does
i love howw carmen just like. rides paper star
girlie has to stop strapping shit to her back it does not work
Tumblr media
another one of my favorite shots in the show the lighting is sooo beautiful
i also like how carmen is looking down, not trying to shake her off, reaching a hand down- she doesn't want paper star to fall to her death, obviously
i was like damn how did that little fall knock both of them out cold but paper star LANDED ON HER NECK
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PARTIES OVER ELVIS IS GONE
i love the very minimal music when dokuso and shadowsan are fighting its cool
get poisoned
i think they reused the shadowsan poisoned groaning sound twice in a row
anyway also a nice shot here
Tumblr media
it seriously looks like paper star was just lying there and as soon as she heard carmen get up she was like oh chill nap time is over
that climbing the ladder animation was so slick
so wait. they predicted? that paper star would not only be hidden in the sword room but latch onto carmen's ankle and follow her all the way up to that roof. so they could glue her
kill kill kill
the anime glasses on dokuso are awesome
out of context it looks like carmen just murdered shadowsan in a swordfight
Tumblr media
god the empty room. and then you pan down and shadowsan is kneeling. good shit
MAN what a fantastic scene. he does exactly what shadowsan asks him to- does not forgive him, because he does not yet see a reason to. but he allows him to correct that mistake. what . god what a good rejection of a redemption shadowsan HASN'T redeemed himself (fully) yet it just makes sense
mmm when he appears from behind her and her spidey senses go off. its good shit
just that emotion on her face. she's sympathetic that his brother didn't accept him back, but happy that he'll still go with them on their journey.
now, this is the only time we get a voiceover from carmen (other than when she's talking to crackle in the pilot) and its such a stark choice. like the only time we ever really get an inner monologue from carmen that lets us know how she feels about it
everything about this episode is just so fantastic and different! cs thrives when it dives into character motivations...but it just doesn't do that very much. there are so many unique choices in the episode- from the untraditional infodump scene to the music to the gorgeous animation/lighting to the voiceover to the rejected redemption scene to the hints at shadowsan's true past with carmen...i could keep going on and on about it forever, but I won't. you've seen the episode. its just. argh. its so good
okay that's all from me. hopefully I can get the rest of my cs weeklies out sooner rather than later- im almost done with finals!!

Language Disguises Thought, Baby (1/2)
I said I'd do this, so consider this the opening to my Space Dandy episode-by-episode minireview post. I'm going to break this up into season 1 and 2 because there's a very clear shift that happens between them (although I'd argue that a few late season 1 episodes show this shift)
there will be no scores, no rankings, just a few sentences and my take on whether I liked an episode or thought it fell flat. these are more of rambles than actual reviews, so I'm not even trying to offer anything besides my opinion
<EVERYBODY COME ON>!
1: Live with the Flow, Baby
this isn't my favourite episode, but it does something very important: it catches your attention. it very quickly and (arguably) elegantly teaches you about how inconsequential mortality is to the crew of the Aloha Oe. this may be a strange comparison, but it reminds me a lot of Ichigo Mashimaro Episode 0 in terms of tone
I forgot just how funny this show was. improved immensely by watching it on a couch with others, so that no slapstick or animation gag goes un-giggled-at
in isolation, this is a very okay episode. as the first episode tasked with easing people into a very weird show, it does its job well
2: The Search for the Phantom Space Ramen, Baby
I may be a bit biased in saying this, because there's a memory attached to this episode, but this is one of my favourites of early season 1. Meow is a very charismatic character who would be completely insufferable if not for Dandy, and the same is true in reverse
the martial arts homage in this episode is fantastic, even if it feels a bit like a red herring for Cowboy Bebop fans in the same way as the woolongs are
you also start seeing the existential themes emerging which become the show's bread and butter later on. this is an episode I'd consider "essential" to understanding the tone of Space Dandy
3: Occasionally Even the Deceiver Is Deceived, Baby
an incredibly funny episode. I remember people making a big deal out of this back when the series first aired, with plenty of people dropping it outright (as was the fashion at the time) because it seemed like it was going to be an ecchi comedy
all that said, there's so many visual gags in this episode. it feels weird to try and fine-comb what makes these early episodes good, given how obvious it is: they're not afraid to be silly and have fun
I'm being very gentle on the first few episodes because opening for a show like Space Dandy before anything was really established had to be brutal
4: Sometimes You Can't Live with Dying, Baby
the first time I saw this episode, as it was airing, I still hadn't realised how the show was going to be formatted. the second half felt like a kick in the ribs that I didn't fully recover from until several episodes later, when I finally stopped trying to figure out how the zombie thing resolved
this episode is a little bit of a dud to me, despite the hilarious second half, because it's just not all that interesting. even so, a middling episode of Space Dandy still beats [checks what else was on at the time] ah, yeah, that's why I don't remember much about this season besides the four series I watched at the time
what do you want me to say about it? it's the zombie episode. it's fine. I could take or leave it
5: A Merry Companion Is a Wagon in Space, Baby
I've spent years singing this episode's praises. I watched it three times when it came out. can you imagine how scared I was about the off chance I'd see it on the rewatch and find it lost its luster? the good news is, it didn't. I still got a little choked up
A Merry Companion stands so strongly that it could have existed outside of Space Dandy as its own series. fortunately, it doesn't have to. for my money, this is the best episode of the entire series.
and what a needle drop! the montage of Dandy and Adélie travelling to Want to Know has some of the best vibes (for lack of a better word) the series ever clicks together
heartfelt, melancholy, and sincere. paced like a delicious meal that leaves you wanting nothing. peak television. this is the episode where Dandy becomes really likeable beyond surface level novelty
6: The War of the Undies and Vests, Baby
this episode has one of the "dudes rock" moments of all time when Dandy and Meow are arbitrarily assigned sides in a pointless conflict and immediately start beating each other up for reasons they don't understand. this episode would be a dud to me if it weren't so funny
...and if it didn't have that finale.
regardless of how you feel about the entire plot of this episode being designed to anticlimax and set the stage for the Stardust Pipeline needle drop, it's a great needle drop, so it's hard to feel too grouchy about that
of course, maybe that's the point? Space Dandy is about nonsequiturs and going with the flow, so this episode actually conveys that philosophy really well. a passing grade, if only on technicality
7: A Race in Space Is Dangerous, Baby
I like death races. I like bishies. I like homoeroticism, and I like rock organ solos. these are all things you should know about me before you get upset that I really enjoyed this episode.
the sheer quantity of colourful fun in this episode is unbelievable. it's incoherent, it doesn't say much, but it stuck the landing for me. this episode is quintessential Space Dandy, distilled... for better and worse! but that's part of why I like it
also Dandy symbolically tops a twink in this episode and it's not subtext. lot to unpack there.
8: The Lonely Pooch Planet, Baby
a rare case where the second half of the episode being so irreverent actually does detract from the first half. this is another episode where we get to see the heart behind Space Dandy, and then we get a diversion into an (admittedly funny) slapstick plot
this one doesn't really stick with me as much as it should, given how gorgeous the animation is. I don't think they needed to change the format, but I'm not sure they chose the correct second half for this one
this episode, to me, falls flat. sadly.
9: Plants Are Living Things, Too, Baby
inconsolable. this episode is every bit as insane as I remembered.
looping back around to the criticism I made of episode 8, this episode doesn't even have a pivot. it's just a weird enough concept to feel confident in riding it out until the end
and you know what? it works. I got emotional over some faceless plants.
heartfelt, beautiful, and of course, lots of fun. this episode is a treat and it would be a disservice to try and fail to articulate every reason why
10: There's Always Tomorrow, Baby
I completely forgot the lesbian twist and almost threw up laughing. this episode manages to combine quiet beauty and batshit humour seamlessly, with a universally understandable emotional thread. Meow becomes a significantly more likeable character for having this context
and credit where it's due, the lesbian gag is really good. it doesn't feel mean-spirited and is careful to ensure that the joke comes off as "Meow realises that he never asked if his crush was actually into him" instead of "Katie is a lesbian and this is Meow's divine punishment for abandoning his friends"
the Endless Eight homage is cute, too. this, in all honesty, feels like the first episode to engage fully with the themes that would define season 2
11: I'm Never Remembering You, Baby
do you ever feel like you're willingly calling yourself an idiot online and nobody's even paying you to do it? that's how I feel saying that this episode is just okay to me.
the concept of the librarian is extremely creative, along with the library planet and the way it works. it just doesn't do as much for me as the more colourful episodes
12: Nobody Knows the Chameleon Alien, Baby
big fan of this episode. there are so many amazing gags in it that you'd be doing yourself a disservice by watching it alone
with that praise delivered, it's a really straightforward concept and I'm not sure what I can say about it. it's funny that QT gets really into fishing for tsuchinoko, it's funny that the chameleonian disguises itself as a random guy, it's funny that they have a game show
it's a funny episode. I like the jokes, and that's a perfectly fine way to be a good episode
13: Even Vacuum Cleaners Fall in Love, Baby
I fully believe this episode started as a post-it note. the concept of "a vacuum cleaner falls in love with a coffee maker that gets thrown away" just feels like that. what a sweet episode, though
some wild sakuga in this one for a character who doesn't really lend to sakuga. the novelty of seeing QT engage in mecha combat elevated the finale of this episode
this is also a pretty nice continuation of the plot thread where our trio has to come to accept that not everyone is available to them. just like with Katie, there's plenty of obvious foreshadowing that QT is missing something

Don't you think that it's a bit dodgy how 13 basically kills a TARDIS to kill the Daleks and never gets called out on it?
Oh it's super messed up she did it, it's also a bit messed up she wasn't called on it, either, lbr, but this has been one of those things i'm not sure how i feel about. Because hm, hello, that was a murder. That they didn't face consequences for, or even a call out. But also, it's not the first time the doctor's done a murder and not been called on it or faced any consequences for, it happens occasionally.
I know it's happened more than once, but hilariously the only one i can remember rn is one also written by chibnall. Maybe he just has a ~thing (I am talking about dinosaurs on a space ship, which is an episode i hate and probably only remember Because i can't stand it, but still). I distinctly remember rewatching the episode and thinking to myself that I could add that to my list of episodes where the doctor offs somebody, and now I can't remember the others, which is typical, really. Though, I personally think 12 pushed the guy, because he'd never have jumped on his own, so that moment's on the list.
(this whole list was a Thing to start with bc i find it fascinating that the doctor sometimes casually does genocides and doesn't catch Half the fandom crap for it than they do if they kill one person. Something something about crimes that we are able to comprehend and feel emotionally and those we aren't. Like, I cannot comprehend the total annihilation of a species in a single second at all, but I can comprehend a single death and have an emotional response to that one. I find it fascinating ngl).
But to get back on subject, in the end, I think my real answer to this would be to say that it depends on Why she's not called on it. When it aired, people in fandom immediately clocked what she'd done was bad and messed up, so obviously a telling was not strictly Necessary in that people worked it out for themselves.
But, was she not called out for it in the show bc A) they didn't believe it was Necessary to do so bc it wasn't supposed to be bad, B) they didn't believe it was necessary to do so because they realised the audience members both old enough to understand and familiar enough with the snow to know tardises are alive would realise what had happened Without mentioning it and know what she'd done was bad without a hand hold or C) she was not called on it simply because there was nobody To call her on it.
Or it could be a mix of the three different things above. Like, they thought it was messed up for her to do it, but she simply was not called on it bc it was exactly like a few of her other greatest and very messed up hits. Nobody had the context to call her on it, so she wasn't called on it even though it Was messed up just because nobody knew it was messed up.
I like, work on a case by case basis as to whether media should call out its characters for bad behaviour and if it's wrong for them not to because you can't paint everything with the same brush and have any sense of nuance, so I guess I think it depends on if you think it's acceptable or not for a show to portray a character doing something bad that is obviously bad without mentioning it, and if that not doing so implies any kind of acceptance of it. I don't think in general the lack of call outs in media imply acceptance, personally, but that doesn't mean there aren't times when call outs Are necessary.
But I do genuinely think it depends on their reasoning as to if it's actually dodgy they didn't do it or not. Like, if they didn't call her on it bc she apparently did nothing wrong, that's dodgy as hell. If they didn't because they portrayed something bad and trusted the audience to get that without being told, that's ambiguous to me and i am personally unsure how i feel about this instance, and since i've not worked it out in two years, I don't expect to any time soon.
If they didn't do it for watsonian reasons involving the lack of informed knowledgeable characters actually there to call her on it, then i'm fine with that in a vacuum? The fam don't ever actually work out if they think the tardis is alive or some kind of super argumentative AI and that 13 implodes one would probably suggest the ai thing to them, lets be real (even though they'd be very wrong, she hides her worst from them). Jack has basically been trained by the doctor to not ask too many questions at this point by the doctor treating him awfully when he does, And on top of that, he's more ruthless than the doctor to start with and I doubt he'd care much.
I think, in general, instead of a callout, i'd have personally liked a Consequence instead? I don't think bad actions necessarily require a call out bc audiences aren't thick and neither are kids, especially In context of the lack of people to call her out on it. But I do think that consequences should be more often utilised unless you're deliberately showing a moment where somebody Gets Away With Something.
So I'd have loved a consequence for her. Like, 13 desperately needs another tardis being alive and well to do something vital and Oh No the world is going to burn to a cinder bc she killed the last one in a callous last ditch plan which suddenly makes it very clear exactly What she did by killing one! So she's slapped in the face by it even though she didn't have anybody to call her on it at the time. The audience is reminded that what she did was wrong without compromising characterisation, ~viola.
TLDR, it depends on Why she wasn't called on it as to if i think it's necessarily dodgy she wasn't (personally i'd have called her on it, but I don't think it's an automatic black mark she wasn't considering the circumstances of there being nobody would could effectively do so), but i do think it's dodgy she didn't catch any consequences for it, actually? idk, i would have done it differently but i'm a terrible writer so I don't know how. I also would like to know the plan for this show pre-pandemic so i can see what didn't happen through necessity via episode cuts and what didn't happen bc nobody thought it was necessary. It's so hard trying to pick apart anything post rotd without knowing this.

please tell me about your doctor who rewatch. i fell off partway through 11, and have been wondering if it’s worth revisiting/catching up.
it's been so interesting actually! i think we fell off around the same time, i stopped watching consistently around when clara was introduced and stopped entirely in season 9. i've been watching with my husband, who had never been into it but is a huge sci-fi nerd. it's been so fun hearing his opinions, especially on stuff that i had Very Strong Feelings about lmao.
one of my favorite parts so far has been revisiting series 1-4, which are my absolute fave. i've started rewatches in the past but never got that far into it, because i knew how much i would hurt myself with doomsday lol. but i loved seeing rose's story again, she was my favorite companion and still is.
it took us forever to get through series seven. some of that was down to the fact that march was a super busy month for us so we didn't have a lot of time to watch, but it was also just a slog. i still had a lot of the same issues that i had with moffat's writing originally (i was very anti-moffat back in the day) but i liked certain parts of series 5-7 more than i expected i would. i actually found myself liking river song which i would never have expected.
we're almost finished with series 8 at this point and it's honestly weird that i don't really remember what happens but it's probably good for me lol. i have really enjoyed series 8 so far, which i do remember was my opinion at one point. once they gave clara more of a personality than just being infatuated with eleven, it got a lot better. i'm actually super excited about the show again and i'm really looking forward to seeing bill, because i never got to see any of her episodes, and i'm especially looking forward to 13's stories.
for me it's definitely been worth a rewatch, especially because i want to start watching again with the new doctor and companion when it starts airing again in may. also, just remembering the feeling i got watching the show for the first time and really falling in love with the characters. i'm amazed at how much i remembered, especially of the first two seasons. and time has helped to soften some of the things i disliked, or at least convince me to give it another shot. so yeah, would definitely recommend!

SaL anon here my friend, happy to wish us luck on the upcoming episode, on this very normal day where the 911 PR team absolutely did not choose to unleash chaos. Here I was just hoping to enjoy the conclusion of the cruise disaster saga, especially after last week's heartstopping Bathena performance, but nooooo, I won't even get to enjoy 1 millisecond of satisfaction before I'm gnawing my arm off waiting for next week's episode and an explanation for why Buddie are *waves hand nonsensically at stills* THAT.
Anyway, I know I should remember the mantra about getting our hopes up but I can't help it for tonight, the last two episodes have been so incredibly solid and everything I love about 911 that I can't help but raise the bar from where it was (somewhere around the Earth's core) to something at least knee high. So cheers friend, here's hoping any post episode drinking is optional, not necessary 🍷🍷🍷!!!
Not me hitting post limit before 4:30 in the afternoon 🙄. This has been me for HOURS
Tumblr media
Sorry I have fandom shit going on Tumblr, and not a lot of actual work to keep me busy. I think the post limit should be at least 500 posts a day. Just let me be unhinged!! I even scheduled some posts out to different days to avoid this but here we are. 🙃 I need 911 and FHJY to not air on back-to-back days for realsies.
I didn't even catch those stills at first since my app is still not working so I can't actually see my dash so I was just chillin in the d20 tag when I suddenly noticed 911 was trending and decided to check what was up and WHOOOOO BOY! What IS all that?! Why are they like this?! They're killing meeeee!
ANYWAY
That mess is for next week. This cruise disaster arc is ABSOLUTELY a veeeeeerrrry close second to the tsunami arc for me. That one edges it out because we got to see more of everyone on the team doing rescues while this one (DESERVEDLY) focused more on Bobby and Athena, but MAN was it gripping television! I laughed, I cried, I legit clapped and cheered when Buck and Eddie showed up to get Bobby and the little boy, I mourned for Wes the security guard, it was all SO, so, so good. And we got badass Bobby on rescue duty!! Athena taking charge and taking NO shit from anyone! We got the firefam being a FAMILY which includes bickering, tattling, gentle ribbing, and having each other's backs because you know each other better than anyone else. I had a GREAT time.
I know we have been pretty good at keeping our expectations down but for right now, I'm felling a little more confident in the show as a whole to deliver good firefam stuff so I'm raising that bar a little bit. As for Buddie, well. I guess we'll see? I'd be lying if I said I was excited about seeing them dating other people AGAIN, no matter if it's supposed to "set the stage" or whatever for Buddie because I just think going the route we SHOULD have had after the shooting. Getting them both keeping their feelings realizations secret from each other and then having a third party confession come out with Chim/Maddie and Hen each getting one side of it and then accidentally cluing each other in has a better feel for me, especially with the delicious flavor of Eddie still having a gf at the moment. But I'm reserving judgement FOR NOW, on how it could ultimately play out for Buddie. It might be fine in the end with how it all comes together, but I'm not going to "settle" for just being happy if Buck comes out and taking whatever relationship we are given instead of the one that's been built up since season 2. But I'm also not throwing in the towel because we don't know where it's going yet. I'm firmly on the "fine but I'm going to complain the whole time" train at the moment with regards to Buck finally dating a man but for some god-forsaken reason it's not Eddie. (At least we lucked the FUCK out and someone else gave AK a job so we don't have to put up with THAT nonsense again.)
For now, I'm going to revel in the show ABSOLUTELY coming back with a bang and feeling like the 911 and firefam we all know and love and have DEEPLY missed. The difference between this arc and that blimp emergency is LAUGHABLE. Bless Tim for coming back and giving us this incredible arc and really showcasing Angela and Peter and the Bathena relationship. I'm excited to see what's next!

I absolutely love all the Quantum Leap blogs I follow because the complete and utter radio silence on the 2022 reboot really speaks volumes considering how much speculation was on my dash before it aired.
As someone who finally remembered it's existence and watched the whole season*, I can genuinely tell all original Quantum Leap fans:
Do not bother watching this show
It literally exists to try and make a profit off the nostalgia of the title alone, because it is shallower than a drop of water in the desert and they're trying to make up for their lack of interesting Leaps by filling the runtime with office drama in the present day that no one cares about and doesn't mean anything.
They're telling us all these things about Ben that mean absolutely nothing because it doesn't change anything, he already Leaped, and no I don't particularly care about why, even after the little "cliffhanger reveal" in Episode 8.
I was watching this show because I care about Sam Beckett and Al Calavicci.
Al was summarily killed off in the first or second episode by having them mention he'd passed away a few years ago, and while you could be generous and say it's because they didn't want anyone that wasn't Dean Stockwell playing Al.... You don't have to have a character on-screen to have them exist in your story.
Al could have been a character whose just always left the room to go attend one of his grandkids pride events.
He could be on the other end of an important phone call.
He could be the random old guy that sneaks in at night and talks with Ziggy but they've never been able to catch him because he always knows how to disable all their security measures and Ziggy refuses to tell them.
(They're secretly plotting to actually get Sam and Ben back while everyone else is just caught up in their conspiracy theories, Janis helps by sending them all on a wild goose chase so Ziggy has actual time to put her processing power to work)
But yeah. Al's been killed off for literally no reason except for bad writing, his daughter is an antagonist for no reason except bad writing, and I genuinely do not care about literally any of these characters because so far they haven't done anything memorable. Ben gets kudos for actually helping people but that's negated a bunch by him being extremely shallow of a character AND the mouthpiece for "you must forgive your abusers!!!!!" The writers are using this show to preach.
Oh and did I mention everyone promptly forgot that Sam Beckett exists and that Ben was trying to find him? So much so that when he runs into another Leaper who warns him to stop following because it's dangerous, literally every single character jumps to the conclusion that it's ... Janis. Al's Antagonist Daughter, threatening Ben, instead of the obvious conclusion of
Hello???? It's literally Sam fucking Beckett trying to warn Ben he should be focused on getting home, back to his life, instead of continuing to try and find Sam?? That Sam's trying to save him from getting trapped in the Leaps like he was??? And the show unironically took it as a threat from some unknown villain instead, and wholly expects the audience to take that conclusion at face value?
Like. Yeah, don't watch Quantum Leap 2022 if you loved the original, if you want to know what happened to Sam and Al.
Al's been summarily killed off, his wife Beth has existed for maybe 3 scenes, and his daughter is randomly an antagonist who drugs her own mother into unconsciousness to show how evil she is lol.
Sam Beckett exists as a footnote and is summarily forgotten by all the new characters.
Ziggy doesn't exist and is now just a generic computer they call "it" (instead of she/her OR he/him) and is not a character at all
Oh, and Ian Wright the nonbinary character everyone was hyping up? Just exists to be the shallow, quirky, quipping one-liner joke-maker of the episode, wearing cat ears at work, making jokes about magic mushrooms and somehow generating views for the show because apparently Mason Alexander has a cult following of people who literally just follow their work and refer to them on a first name basis and...
... I've just blocked all those people already from the tag because it's genuinely creepy how deeply these people are in a parasocial relationship with the actor. Like genuinely looking for RPF things and obsessing over them and referring to them only by their first name and just.... No. Hell no.
But yeah, the funny thing is if you go into the Quantum Leap 2022 tag and block all the Mason Park stalkers the content of the tag is just reduced by like 90%
So uh. That tells you a lot about how little substance Quantum Leap 2022 has. Most of the posts are from me and my twin liveblogging it lol.
-----update:
* I guess they're splitting the season into 2 parts because the IMBD says the next episode is in January 2023 with more episodes after that for a total of 18 episodes in the first season but uh. Too fucking bad for them I'm not wasting my time on this bag of hot air. I'm sticking a pin in it and going back to my little original show rewrite and post canon fun/angst.

Bonkposting
Tumblr media
I was randomly re-watching BONKERS this week. Coincidentally, that show turned 30 this year... Now that's *bonkers*!
For the uninitiated, it's a Disney TV Animation-made series that had the usual 65-episode run. It was a WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT-inspired show made at a time when Roger Rabbit's future was up in the air, and this series - inspired by ROGER RABBIT'S core premise of cartoon characters living in our world and being the actors of their animated pictures - just so happened to be in development. Seemed to be the perfect "that'll do" situation! Its production history, so complicated it scrambles my brain, but fascinatingly so, like any troubled production. The entire show, including an episode that was held from TV for years due to depictions of bombings (in the wake of the Oklahoma City bombing and 9/11), is available to view on Disney+.
The show itself is every bit as puzzling as its production history, no matter which batch of episodes it is or who animated on them. It feels like it's a weird outsider-artist's attempt at a wacky, spontaneous Tex Avery-inspired cartoon, but it frequently misses the rhythm even though it's earnestly trying with everything it has got... That is all juxtaposed with this very high-grade art direction and animation (for a 1993-era animated TV series, that is), particularly the episodes made at Disney TV Animation Japan. It's like I'm watching some badass '80s anime take on L.A., but with these silly-looking 'toons. A hell of a contrast! But the show's weird attempts at zany humor are all the more questionable because this is a DISNEY SHOW, you would think they could pull this off. I know it's popular opinion that Disney animation, all throughout history, was never "funny"... Though I beg to differ. Disney TVA, from my perspective, tended to be more "fun adventure" than wacky comedy. Not in the wheelhouse of, say, ANIMANIACS or REN & STIMPY. Bonkers D. Bobcat himself actually started appearing on one of Disney's attempts at a wacky show, RAW TOONAGE, a year earlier. There was also this show called THE SCHNOOKUMS & MEAT FUNNY CARTOON SHOW, which fits this bill, too. The respective executions of these shows apparently left a bit to be desired.
I first saw BONKERS when its re-runs aired on Toon Disney, a long-defunct channel, in the late '90s and early '00s. That was the way I, a 1992 baby, could see all of those early-era Disney TVA cartoons and many of the ones that were part of the legendary syndicated "Disney Afternoon" block. I saw almost all of 'em, from DUCKTALES to TALESPIN to TIMON & PUMBAA. That was a brief period of time though, when my grandmother had a cable package that included Toon Disney. Later on, she didn't, and neither did I at my house... So I went a good many years without seeing those shows again, the only one I had pieces of on VHS was NEW ADVENTURES OF WINNIE THE POOH.
I'll tell you what *weirdly* filled the void for me...
SONIC ADVENTURE.
Tumblr media
Yeah, you heard that right... SONIC ADVENTURE. And by that, I mean the original version released for the Sega Dreamcast in North America in 1999, which I got sometime in - I wanna say - spring 2000? Easter present, maybe?
Now, my grandmother still had Toon Disney when I had SONIC ADVENTURE... Because at the time, Toon Disney was airing... ADVENTURES OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG! That's right, the DiC cartoon from 1993. The wacky one. I sometimes caught it in passing, but I really wanted to see it now that I was playing SONIC ADVENTURE religiously circa mid 2000... But it was never on when I was over there, I had only caught a commercial or two. I remember catching one during an airing of BONKERS, and it was like "The SONIC show... Whoooooaaa." My 7 1/2-year old brain on a high of some sorts, 'cuz that's just how my weird-ass autie brain works you get the gist?
Anyways, when I no longer could watch Toon Disney, I had SONIC ADVENTURE...
Here are the weird connections I made between SONIC ADVENTURE and Disney TV Animation's output circa 1987-1995:
Anthro animals, check. Goofy villain, check. Sonic's design channels Felix the Cat and early Mickey, very much Western "funny animal" in spirit. Coincidentally, FELIX THE CAT: THE MOVIE was airing on Disney Channel and Toon Disney around this time, I remember seeing commercials for it at the time... And remembered seeing scenes of him running around some palm trees, a jungle-like setting... and I thought it looked kinda Sonic-y and kinda cool. Moving on: Tails' bi-plane, the "Tornado". TALESPIN vibes. Has two tails, 'tis his nickname... What else, Station Square, a city with both humans and cartoon animals, reminding me of not only BONKERS, but also Duckberg. The "At Dawn" section of the "Speed Highway" level in particular had those vibes, for me... And then you have the Mystic Ruins, the spacious jungle hub world with the temple. Disney had a couple of "jungle" shows at the time, outside of the JUNGLE BOOK-inspired TALESPIN, you also had JUNGLE CUBS (basically MUPPET BABIES by way of JUNGLE BOOK), MARSUPILAMI (a very bizarre adaptation of the Franco-Belgian comic of the same name), and the aforementioned TIMON & PUMBAA spin-off.
So yeah, SONIC ADVENTURE and certain Disney TV Animation shows were kinda "linked" in my brain circa 2000-ish. It's a thing my brain does, it makes these weird connections or associations with disparate media. Like, I'll be hyperfixating on three or four separate things in a period of time (say, September-November 2005)... And because of that, they're all linked in my head. I'll think of one of those things, and I'll think of the three, if that makes sense.
In fall 2002, for my birthday, I received a DK book called DISNEY: THE ULTIMATE VISUAL GUIDE. It had a two-page spread dedicated to the DTVA stuff, and lo and behold, BONKERS was on there... and it all came back... And for whatever reason, I built up BONKERS in my head as this amazingly funny thing. It was even in the name, and at the time, I was developing a cartoony slapsticky idea of my own... Which totally morphed and mutated over two decades into the behemoth beast that it is now... Partially thanks to BONKERS, a show that's considered one of the worst of the Disney Afternoon and that whole era of DTVA... I simply had to see this show again, and all the other Disney TV Animation cartoons that weren't being shown on any other channel.
And I eventually caught a few of the Bonks on Toon Disney somewhere's else in mid-2003, and remember thinking "Yeah, it's as cool as I thought!" But then many, many moons later - with much more knowledge under my belt, a lot more context, a lot more animation history, etc. - I gave it a proper revisit. This was probably right around the time it came to Disney+, and after hearing other outlets either fairly criticize or outright trash the show. I mean, ANIMANIACS - probably fueled by Steven Spielberg's beef with Disney/Eisner at time, which affected ROGER RABBIT plans going forward - was roasting BONKERS. And what I saw was a show that was certainly a mess... I mean, when your plug is pulled halfway through production and your show is straight-up rebooted w/ an all-new supporting cast and main character redesign- it's a miracle the show even got made, finished, and was somewhat watchable. I have a soft spot for it, really. There's a kernel of a really cool, wacky, ROGER RABBIT-lite there... and under different circumstances, it could've really stuck the landing... But it meant a little something to me, and that's all that matters.

I have a strange feeling… fear (🤔?) that LT, despite the cool direction, beautiful views, wonderful cast, will not be able to capture me, as it turned out with vv. here I was waiting for every ep with my tongue sticking out, I locked myself in the toilet at work so that no one would bother me for the next 40 minutes, I had to watch ep at the minute of its release, not a sec later, I spent hours on twitter reading the opinions of the same abnormal as me. before that, I had only watched one series with such frenzy. I'm afraid that LT will be good, but… ordinary. and I want to experience a feverish thirst, as it was with vv. but maybe it's for the best. 9 months have passed, I still can't forget vv, bc no new series has hooked me. I can watch them later or skip the ep altogether, I don't view twitter posts. I want something to hit me. please LT all hope is on you🙏🙏🙏🙏
I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ANON SOMETIMES I WAKE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IN A COLD SWEAT WITH THAT VERY SAME FEAR
vice versa was a completely insane and incredibly unique experience, every episode gave me such a high that it would take me DAYS to come down from the sheer euphoric unhinged rabid energies it got me going on, and to think that im here, almost nine months later, still feeling the exact same way about it despite having rewatched the show an embarrassing amount of times is just.. TRULY SOMETHING. no other show has ever been able to captivate me so completely, to the point that i just constantly want to talk about it and share stuff with people and SCREAM AT HOW GOOD IT IS. sometimes it really does feel like nothing will ever come close to it
i guess part of it is also because, to me, vice versa was totally unexpected. i remember i was too busy catching up with other shows when the first episode aired, so i actually started it after episode 2 was already out and went in with no expectations whatsoever. somehow by episode 6 it already had me screaming shaking crying throwing up spinning counterclockwise on the floor wailing every single week and the rest is history
idk if it might be the same for you, but i think this fear i have about last twilight ending up being underwhelming is because, unlike vice versa and despite my better judgement, i actually have TONS of expectations about it, and when your expectations are too high the risk of getting disappointed becomes higher too. however i know jimmysea so much better now, the concept of the show is extremely appealing to me, morkday are already making me deranged in ways i can't even begin to explain, and i now have one thing that i actually didn't have while watching vice versa, which is you guys
now that i think about it maybe it's a bit presumptuous of me to think that y'all are still gonna be here and want to talk to me about it when last twilight airs ;;;;;;; BUT STILL!!!!! i think sometimes sharing the excitement with people is something that can turn a mediocre experience into a good one, so im just gonna hope that last twilight will be a fantastic experience (that will lend me into the psych ward) made even better by being able to share it with you all!!!!!!

Ok so for reasons that are not relevant I, a 23 year old, have just finished watching battlestar galactica for the first time in this the year two thousand and twenty two and I don’t know anyone besides my family who has seen it so I have to ask: do you think bill and Saul explored each others bodies
as;lkdfj;saljfa so true story when I first read this ask I had this moment of sheer. . .why would you ask us, a narnia blog. . .
AND THEN I REMEMBERED the deep lore of BSG fandom was lost to time bc all of that was pre-Tumblr so STRAP IN AND LET ME GIVE YOU AN OLD PERSON YELLS AT CLOUD ESSAY ON BATTLESTAR GALACTICA.
So like. First of all, and I truly mean this from the bottom of my heart to this day, I will always treasure BSG fandom for being one of the single most courteous and thoughtful fannish experiences of my life with regard to spoilers and I wish that more folks would learn from them. Because, as you likely have realized, there are some key plot beats through the series that benefit from being surprises. And not surprises in the new-MCU-movie way of like, this is unwatchable once you know the twist. But surprises as in oh, [redacted] is actually [redacted], I want to go back and rewatch the episode because this recontextualizes what I've just seen!! And because the miniseries aired in 2003 and the series didn't start until 2005, there were a lot of new folks catching up throughout the run and the statute of limitations on posting untagged spoilers was broadly seen to be a year from time of airing. And that included user icons with spoilers. A truly magical time.
And even with that, when I told friends of mine I was thinking of getting into the series (which i think I caught up midway through S2's airing?), they very sweetly would check exactly which episode I was on before chatting with me about it to be sure they didn't feed me any future plot elements and just - so thoughtful. So kind.
The second thing that I think is really unique - and like I've seen this in other fandoms but it felt so pronounced in BSG, is that depending on your perspectives and which characters you gelled with most, you and other fans could sometimes be watching an entirely different series.
What I mean by that is, there are multiple perspectives on who might be considered the "main character" of that show or at least the access point character of that show, bc it was such a big ensemble with so many interwoven throughlines. So like, some people were watching it as The Story Of Laura Roslin And Some Fucking Idiots, some people were watching it as Kara Thrace Makes Bad Decisions (and some other idiots), some people watched it as Bill Adama Learns To Not Army So Hard, some people were watching The Story Of Gaius Baltar Who Sure Does Regret His Life Decisions, some people were watching Lee Adama Is Trying His Best: The Series - you see.
Because I was (as ever) heavily invested in femslash fandom, the show I was watching was Kara Thrace Make Bad Decisions And Has Several Boyfriends (And Girlfriends), as well as the sadly underrated sub-series Cylons Have So Many Feelings And It's Great.
And so for a hot second I read your ask and was like. . .who the fuck are Bill and Saul.
I got there, though.
Anyway: Bill and Saul were definitely Old Army Buddies, and depending on how you interpret that I think the answer can be most likely an unqualified yes.
