I think the Homs' technology level is a mix of our 1940s-1970s.

Meanwhile, the High Entia are on another level - they've got holographics, realtime DNA analysers, force fields, transient materials, telescopic materials, simulations of the personalities/desires of long-dead people, and so on. So it's not a stretch to say they also have computers, internet, professional sports, and such.

Results of Xenoblade “age census”

Decided to trawl through everyone in Xenoblade that has a defined age to gather some useful information. It was mostly just to answer the previous question as to whether there’s evidence for what Nopon lifespans could be, but I decided to do everything else at the same time. Assuming there aren’t any errors on the wikia’s part, and ignoring the Nopon Sage claiming to be 9,999, here’s the deal:

Homs: children from 7-12 (Juju at 13 is exception), adults from 18-74

Nopon: children from 7-12, adults from 16-83

High Entia: children from 29-69 (though the high one’s a bit of an anomaly; next highest is 58), adults from 88-357

By my personal conversion factor of 4.5, this equals 5.78-15.33 (or -12.89) and 19.56-79.33. However, 5 is also a real possibility, meaning 5.2-13.8 (or -11.6) and 17.6-71.4, or even something in between.

Machina: the one non-defective child is 1326, adults from 1864-9892

So I’d have to say that there’s evidence here for Nopon aging at the same rate as Homs, but with nothing to speak of either way for total lifespan. I still prefer a High Entia rate of 4.5 over the “easier” 5, since to me Sorean just looks too old to be equivalent-64. And I don’t understand why a Machina should take over 1500 years to grow up, that just seems excessive to me.

Xenoblade reference: collectables, gifting, and translation goofs

I like to think I’m good at data and patterns, so after the somewhat unexpected popularity of my heart-to-hearts reference post, I decided to do something similar with collectables - specifically the gifting system. The goal is to try and find any interesting patterns in gifting preferences and therefore party members’ likes and dislikes.

The only spoiler here is the deal behind Seven, assuming you’re fine with “names of pickups from indeterminate future areas”. I’ll try to keep my opinions minimal and only present the facts.

Ozu was 14 when Bajor was finally liberated. Her parents came back for only a year before they left again to join the Maquis. Ozu’s childhood friend, Joen Telona also left with her parents as Ozu stayed behind to help in the commune. A year later, Joen went missing (as she was in Chakotay’s crew when they were swept away to the Delta Quadrant), and 2 years after that, her mother was killed in the Cardasian purge of Maquis. And when she got the news about her mother, she left the commune and joined Star Fleet. She minored in Xeno-archeology and transporter operation in the Academy but mostly focused on the Diplomacy and Piloting related courses. Her first station was at Starbase 42, on the border of Gorn space, and then joined the Cerritos at the same time as Tendi.

PERSONALITY: depressed, stressed, caffeine addicted and almost zero self-esteem. Ozu at the core of her person is empathetic. She feels for people and it hurts her that there is so much suffering in the world and wants more than anything to help. She will sacrifice herself at the drop of a hat if she thought it would save a life. She also has no patience for bullies and abusers of power. An easy way for you to get on her shit list would to bad mouth the Maquis or her criminal father. She’s snarky as a defense mechanism to feign indifference, as a lie to herself to keep herself from hurting herself from caring too much. Ozu loves her disfunctional squad of Delta Shifters will help them and support them in anyway possible. Even if it looks like she’s upset.

I can't make people not post weird sexually explicit or parasocial things about streamers on the Internet, and I don't necessarily want to. Too much work for me.

But, I don't think it's so unfair to ask that they not go out of their way to force people like me to see it, which is what they're basically doing when they tag their very personal fantasies with #vinesauce and the like, and fail to add Community Labels to it. Including a hashtag is basically broadcasting it to anyone clicking on said tag, nobody says you can't say it but at least have the decency to not forcefeed it onto everyone remotely interested in the topic, especially if said group includes a lot of minors.

Me and some other fans have noticed an uptick in some disturbing behavior from some Vinesauce fans and I want to speak up about it. Please, stop making sexually explicit posts/art about Vinny and Joel. I know for a fact both of them have stated their discomfort about this content throughout the years, and yet I keep seeing people either drawing them in a sexual way or just posting fucked up shit about them on public platforms. If you feel the need to ask me for proof of them saying that, you are part of the problem. They shouldn't have to say that they don't want people making explicit posts about them, that should be common courtesy. If you don't want to stop, I can't stop you. But at least don't publically tag your delusional fantasies for everyone else to see. Keep it to yourself. These are real people, with real lives, and real feelings. Online fandom may have made it seem acceptable to act like this in recent years, but it's not. IT IS ESPECIALLY WRONG WHEN THEY HAVE ALREADY SET THEIR BOUNDARIES ABOUT IT BEFORE. It's disgusting that so many people think it's okay to go past someone's personal boundaries for their own pleasure. Real, living people are not your OCs that you can dress up and parade around in whatever way you want. If you want a character that you can make that kind of art about, make an OC. Find a TV show or movie. A book, a comic. Anything else. And, If someone asks you to stop doing something that makes them uncomfortable, listen to them. It's that simple. I recognize that many of you are young and have been conditioned to see this stuff as normal, but the sooner you grow out of that the better it will be for your own life and relationships. If you are a full ass adult and still think acting like this is okay, then I don't know what to tell you. It doesn't make sense that so many of you claim to be fans and care about people while repeatedly doing things that make them uncomfortable. They are regular people and deserve to be treated with the same respect as anyone else. If you would probably get in trouble for sexual harassment in real life, don't say that same shit online. Respect people's boundaries in the same way you'd want them to respect yours.

I’m gonna use this as an opportunity to share my belief that it’s not okay to treat and regard a real person like a sex object, no matter how far removed you think they may be from being affected by it.
