Only on twitter will I be told I’m being “unprofessional as a fan page” (pls I don’t get paid this isn’t my job it’s a hobby pls) for randomly posting Shen Wei photos or gifs now and then as a fun throwback: (re: the North Face Coat parallels post). And then being told “when will they let this role go.”
Shen Wei is the role that helped him breakout in the industry after a decade.
Shen Wei provided one of the stepping stones for where he is today in his career.
Shen Wei is a beloved character still celebrated on the Chinese socials with xlbs to this very day. heck Shen Wei randomly trended 1 again on Weibo hot search last February.
He has a lot of roles under his belt - ain’t nothing wrong with going back and celebrating them again.

Am I the only one who doesn’t get why some (tw) are shitting on Haru and Rin separately just for the fact that they reciprocate each others feelings? Because it’s not the feelings they wanted them to reciprocate? Just curious because I'm new and recently entered the fandom. And since when miscommunication in between means that they don't deserve to be happy at the end? Because you're an idiot when it comes to love, doesn't mean you're a bad person. I came from chinese bl and it's weird to me.
Hehe welcome to the madness, perfect time to join! Yeah, tbh that's the thing in the fandom that always bugged me the most. The fact that some act like if you don't reciprocate someone's feelings, it makes you a bad person. I always found it incredibly cringy when ppl in real life for example make ppl feel guilty for not feeling the same way and make you feel like shit bc of it. I don't get why you have to apologize for that or feel bad, if you never ever gave him any hope or anything in the first place.
Nowdays it's thankfully a rare sight already in this fandom, bc most already grown and see perfectly what's truly healthy and unhealthy, it's just tbh only the same 3 accounts ppl keep sending me that are still on that, who also think that Haru is literally possessed in the last movie so I don't see the point of like arguing with ppl like this. It's just they're always getting extremely angry when Haru wants Rin as if it's his fault that he feels this way and always go about it like he is inconsiderate of Makoto's feelings. Implying that they're mad that he doesn't feel that way about Makoto, while Makoto does. I'm same as @tododeku-or-bust for example said here (idk what fandom brought this on, but just in general) also do not get what's appealing about this kind of relationships in the first place.
If they shipped it in terms of like it's mutual I'd get it, but they go on about how Rin or Haru are bad friends bc they're not in love with their best friends... like ?????? I didn't know you owe it to your friends to have romantic feelings for them.
In real life if you found out that your bestie feels that way for you while you don't reciprocate, it's a burden, that'll make you feel uncomfortable and at times guilty when you shouldn't technically feel that way. So putting on someone a burden of "I was pining for you all along", when you know they don't feel the same is giving me this feeling of cringe. So I personally do not get what's enjoyable at seeing it like that in Free. But to each their own kink lmao.
It's like... is Haru at fault for the fact that he was Ikuya's first love too? I do not get it really. Like he doesn't have to take responsibility for everyone who falls for him and he doesn't owe anyone to reciprocate their feelings. Even to Rin. Like if he didn't feel the same way for Rin, it wouldn't be his fault either. But since he does feel the same way for him, it's like... good, great, happy for them.
Like once again if someone believes that Makoto and Sousuke are unrequitedly in love with Rin and Haru, that's not rinharu fault. Haru literally never ever lead Makoto on EVER. He never ever did anything that would make Makoto believe that they're more than friends. He was always honest about everything. Like when Makoto thought that he went out to see him, but Haru just wanted to see the sunrise, he told him just that. He never encoraged anything, he refused to live with him and never wanted. I do not get why it's supposed to be his fault that he doesn't like his friend in that way. If Makoto has some unrequited feelings for him and decided to hang up on this, it's his own life choice in my opinion.
It's like saying that Onodera and Takano for example don't deserve to be together just because they unintentionally hurt each other and got separated for 10 years bc of misunderstanding. This argument is like typical Yokozawa life position aka "but I was there when he left you heartbroken for several years, that means you MUST pick me". As I've said before, that's just not how it fucking works. And just bc they couldn't explain things to each other normally, doesn't mean that they don't deserve be happy now. Being idiots is not a crime.
Or if you came from chinese bl, lets go "Guardian" for example. Zhu Hong also was on about how "why you love Shen Wei, not me, I always did everything for you and I was always there, I even wore heels bc you once said you liked those etc". Like he never asked her to do this, he never gave her any hope, he was beyond rude and open about the fact that he's not interested, he never did anything to make her think she had a chance since the beginning. Just bc she decided to dedicate her life to false hope that maybe one day something might change is not his fault. It was her choice. Why Yunlan should feel like shit bc of that I do not get personally.
I'm just buffled bc like Haru for example is the most caring about other ppl's pain person, but they call him selfish and rude bc of the way he is with Makoto at times, not even realising that it IS in fact what means being kind sometimes.. to not give someone a chance when you know you don't feel it. I was always saying this like since forever, being kind doesn't mean for example giving everyone second chances, loving everyone, wanting to be friends with anyone etc. In some situations it's not being kind, it's being stupid or even not being a good person. Once again... offering someone friendship after he openly dissed your friend and you see that he's not in any position to talk back is not kind. Or if someone cheats on you constantly, but you always forgive them it's also not you being kind. It's you being stupid. Sometimes you have to be harsh. It's for the greater good.
And like I saw several times stuff like someone under scenes where Rin has his eyes for Haru only, commenting like "oh great, look at Rin being inconsiderate of Sousuke's feelings again. Can't believe you guys find this romantic." I mean, if in their opinion Sousuke is in pain from being Rin's friend, he can end it, it's his choice. It's not Rin's fault that he thinks of him as just his friend. So thinking that Rin is an asshole bc each time he simply hangs out with Sousuke he's a selfish bitch is fucking insane. I'd feel extremely bad if my best friend was seeing it this way for example. It's like hella ugly.
This annoys me also bc of the fact that Rin, the person who at the age of 12 single-handedly saved his family from falling apart after his father's death, who's an amazing friend to Sousuke and did everything to make his happy after he found out about his trauma and always checks on him first and cries about his shoulder, who in the late evenings taught Rei to swim, when everyone else gave up already xD, who was looking after Nitori during his training, who pretends to walk the same road, just because he's scared to let Gou return alone in the evenings, the most amazing son and brother, is suddenly an asshole just because Haru is in love with him, but not with Makoto. I mean, thats just... huh? Like I dont mind you ship what you want to ship, it's like to each their own crayons for real. But like dissing them and call them selfish just bc they only see their friends as friends and don't want anything more is weird to me.
As for the fact that bc of the misunderstanding they don't deserve to be happy, that's just idiotic. I mean, lets punish Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan too just bc Lan Zhan couldn't voice his real feelings back then and bc WWX misunderstood him. Lets ship WWX with Wen Ning instead. Nezumi is cancelled, he doesn't deserve to be with Shion. He left him. Takano should stay with Yokozawa, Onodera is trash. Wu Xie is trash for wanting to be with Zhang Qiling too. It doesn't matter why he leaves, it only matters that he always does. I can't believe he doesn't see that Pangzi is there with him all along xD. What an ungrateful trash of a human being I can't even.
And anyways btw both Rin and Haru are not ideal human beings in any way (otherwise I wouldn't love them this much tbh xD). But their flaws are definitely not what for example mh shippers usually blame them for. You can argue about their other imperfections easily. Like being stupidly stubborn for example. I won't point fingers here, Haru lolz. Or literally anything else.
My point is you can find what to trash them for logically, if you wanna. Do it smartly tho. Otherwise you make your ship look bad.
And I once again say what wise person said about his relationships and about the fact that not being able with someone he loves hurt him and 'why is he doing this to himself' he answered: "it's not on him. my happiness and my pain is for me to handle". Everyone decides for themselves. This is why for example Haru was so broken about voicing this to Rin and didn't have any intentions to tell him that in the first place. Bc it's not right, if you're not sure that it's requited. Technically he has no right to blame Rin for making him fall in love with him and then leaving in the first place. It's not Rin's fault really, that he made him feel what he feels for him, it's ultimately Haru's problem. That's why he feels has no right to blame him in the first place. I mean, he doesn't know that Rin feels the same, that means saying to him "you break my heart each time you leave" and making him feel bad about it is technically wrong. That's why Haru to himself said "no, please, don't say such things to him". Everyone for himself decides who deserves your 5, 7, 800 or 10000 years of your pain. It's your decision. It's your life. If Haru feels like Rin is worth it, then you have no say in that matter really. The only reason we call Rin an idiot or Haru an idiot is because we know they feel the same, so we can. But blame someone else for not feeling what you're feeling is not right.
So like even if you feel like Makoto and Sousuke have feelings for their friends, blaming Haru and Rin for having feelings for each other and not for them is beyond weird. And there's nothing wrong with putting someone you love first, every bro/sis gets it. You can say bros before hoes all you want, but like Lan Zhan might just drop his bro for his hoe, if he was given a choice. Would it make him a bad person? The fact that Wu Xie chose to save Xiaoge before Pangzi makes his a bad person? My point is it's not all that easy.
I just feel like many ppl in this fandom are very weird about many things. Either because they do not get what it's like to go through some things or maybe they just do not get that no matter how cheesy this sounds love is not that simple. I mean, for example not all selfish is bad, sometimes like in Haru's case for example not being selfish is also bad. Bc if he finally asks for what he wants, he will make both himself AND Rin happy.
To be angry at Rin bc of the aftermath of his father's death and s1 I never had it in me, after knowing everything and how adults handled it. If some of Sousuke's fans bc of Yakusoku and the fact that Rin found his salvation in Haru bc he helped him to move forward after getting his family out of this hell alone and that Haru was the safe haven that made him happy in this moment of his life, want to trash Rin for the fact that he "neglected" Sousuke, its like your opinion. I personally do not get it. Rin doesn't owe Sousuke anything. It's not his fault again that Haru's existence helped him to feel better.
Just like not everyone will get why Haru in 1x12 was so happy about the fact that he could help Rin. To be that special somebody for someone who can "save" you in moments of your life like this, especially if you love them is an incredible feeling. And no, your bestie isn't always the person for this job, no. I don't see why people do not get that I guess, that's all. But we all have our own opinion on everything, so...
We same as you do not get it since forever, but its like it is what it is in this fandom. I personally just have another life position on stuff, so I'm very far from that point of view they have.

Hi can you provide the link to read manhuas you prefer?
Hello Anon! OMG Manhua/Manhwa Rec! Here we go! I’ve only been reading for 2-3 months (consistently), so this will be pretty limited. I will link to the legit sites. A google search will direct you to others.
Most of these are WIPs and some, sadly, are discontinued. I won’t add TGCF or MDZS here cause those are already a given. 👇🏼
• Body Electric by Dong Ye ( completed, supernatural, lots of trigger warnings and plotty )
Tumblr media
Ba Song is the hotshot cop who’s been handed an open-and-shut case: the suicide of a young woman. Except… who commits suicide by stabbing their own body and strangling themself? There's only one man who can help him with this mystery — Bo Shan, the renowned forensic pathologist with a severe and cold personality. What's more, his body produces bioelectricity, allowing him to acutely sense bodily injury with his touch. There's an electric current between them, and each touch sizzles with energy
If you like crime dramas and stories where they solve mysterious cases then this is for you. The romance is subtle, and their relationship is not insta-love. strangers to colleagues to friends to lovers trope. This also discusses alot of issues the society has that will make you stop and think. Ba Song is really the honorable MC in here who always wants to help people and do good. While Bo Shan is the reluctant one but deep inside, he wants to make a difference too. I wish they would make a donghua or live action out of this.
• 30 year old by S-Monkey - ( ongoing, age difference, blind dates, slice of life)
Tumblr media
Charlie Wei is a single and handsome executive. He’s also a closeted gay guy who’s been on way too many bad blind dates with women. Charlie’s still hung up on his ex-boyfriend James and is… gasp, 30! Charlie’s family thinks he’s straight and too old to be without a wife! During another bad blind date, Charlie meets the flirty Ethan, who both annoys and intrigues him. Can Charlie finally come out and find true love with Ethan or will he continue on his streak of bad blind dates?
The cover looks melodramatic but it’s really not. This is so funny! I read this because people were saying it reminded them of BoXiao. And yes, there are moments here that remind me of them, but it’s more like an AU of BoXiao. I stayed up late trying to get caught up in the chapters and you won’t realize it cause it’s just that good. I love seeing the older MC loosening up and being more of himself. and the younger one being more responsible in his career. They just become better versions of themselves because of each other. It’s so sweet!
• I ship me and my Rival - by Pepa ( ongoing, comedy, reads like a meta )
Tumblr media
This follows the adventures of Wei Yanzi, a third-rate actor in the Chinese entertainment industry, stumbles onto a shipping fandom for himself and another actor (Gu Yiliang) while trying to escape from the flame wars and negativity. He's so taken with this group of fans who actually see him as a good guy instead of an enemy/rival of Gu Yiliang that he falls head-first into fandom and becomes actively involved in trying to provide shipping fuel and the fans' daily dose of fluff.
IF THERE IS ONE thing you will read here, let it be this. It is hilarious. If you are a CP fan you will relate so much and it’s a good time. It just shows how people who think are rivals can actually be really good friends in real life. What we see is not always what it seems. and people will interpret things based on their bias. The MC here is so dramatic! how his inner feelings/reactions were drawn will make you laugh.
• Path to You - by Sinran (completed, slice of life, age gap fluff and comedy )
Tumblr media
When almost college dropout Jensen attempts to drink away his problems, unemployed Nathaniel suddenly pukes on him and ruins his night. As an apology, Nathaniel offers to help Jensen with his studies. Despite Jensen's difficulties in getting along with people, the two become friends and something deeper begins to grow between them
The story is so soft. If you want something with mild angst/misunderstandings— then pick this. I love the progression of their relationship and how they take care of each other. There are other themes showed here other than the romance.
• Red Candy - by Hanse (completed season one with a cliffhanger, explicit scenes, assassins )
Tumblr media
Shihyeon, aka “Red Candy,” is a secret agent whose code name comes from bathing in the blood of his marks on dangerous missions. Shihyeon’s tasked with seducing and obtaining intel from Hajun, a hot college professor. Shihyeon can disarm enemies, but didn’t expect to be disarmed himself by Hajun’s own tight body. Now Shihyeon’s caught between loyalty to his spy agency and Hajun. Can Red Candy survive the incoming wave of enemies and still indulge in the sweet ecstasy of Hajun’s embrace?
THIS STRESSED ME OUT MAAAN. Wow. I loved this. That season one cliffhanger. It’s definitely up there as my favorite. If you think about it, the tropes are really not original. An assassin is sent to shadow a person and they develop a relationship. That simple. But NOOOOO! There are so many things going on. The Main mystery plot, Their relationship, their shared past plus you have other sketchy secondary characters. And did i mention explicit scenes? Lots of them. I want this two to have a happy ending!!!
• Lone Swan - by Chu Man (discontinued, cultivation, star crossed lovers)
Tumblr media
After losing his memory, Yiqiu Shen, a disciple from the decent sect meets a very special man named Luofeng Yan, who is the leader of the evil Divine Wind Cult. When escaping and conflicting with Yan, Shen gradually finds his original self as well as his previous love back. Together they rip off the facade of the martial world and reveal the hidden true
I didn’t want to add a discontinued story here, with no novel as a source material but this one made an impact on me. so. yeah. THE ART. breathtaking. The plot = layered. There are times I don’t even know who is telling the truth. It had so much potential and i hope it will get picked up again at some point. People rec this to those who enjoyed TGCF and MDZS, and they are right. 👍🏼
• Dragon in Distress by Si Wang Wen Hua - ( ongoing, dragons, past life, lost power, fantasy )
Tumblr media
This is a story about a little Eastern green dragon and a little Western black dragon playing together.
The synopsis is pretty simple if you look at it but this one is pretty interesting. and surprisingly funny. tinie AoAo is so cute! 🤍 the other MC has tsundere tendencies tho. Lots of lore and more truths to uncover as the story progresses. I’m not giving it enough justice with how i’m reccing it, but if you like dragons and fantasy — give this a go.
• Breaking through the clouds 2: Swallow the Sea - Huaishang (ongoing, based on a novel, crime, drama, cases)
Tumblr media
Wu Yu, a newcomer of the Public Security Bureau, is gentle and frail. He doesn’t care about the difficulties posed by Bu ZhongHua, his strict boss, and only wants to stay in the background to be paid on time with enough for food. However, no one knows that this young man’s head is targeted by top drug traffickers for a large bounty or that this courageous young man has once slaughtered the dragon of the abyss. With a chain of interlocking cases, a series of troubles come one after another. Can the two people work together to survive through the difficulties?
Do you see a pattern with me? lol. I like crime themes. This one is the same and by the looks of it, the cases they solve will take longer to unravel. I haven’t read the novel it’s based on yet so i’m just going with how the manhua is progressing. I like it when Wu Yu turns full on action-mode and when ZH takes care of him. Plus it helps that they are both gorgeous. I’ll get back this with a proper link.
• Where the Wind Stays - by Yusa (completed season one, curses, demons, possession, timeskip, explicit scenes)
Tumblr media
To break an ancient curse that plagues the royal bloodline, young Prince Tasara is destined to be sacrificed in death. Nara is enlisted as a palace servant to carry out the prince’s execution when the time comes. But he develops a soft spot for the cursed prince, and after committing an atrocious and unforgivable act against Tasara, Nara is desperate to right his wrongs. Soon, their lascivious relationship that had been kept under wraps tests his resolve. Will Nara be tempted away from his original mission? There’s no telling how far he would go to earn Tasara’s forgiveness.
This story broke my brain, in a good way. I don’t wanna say much cause it will spoil the story. It’s the type that you gave to see and suffer through yourself. I am excited for what happens in season II!!!
Honorable Mentions:
I’m placing these here cause I have only read a few chapters and tho I liked them, I wanna read more before reccing it in full. 🏼
• I accidentally saved the Jinghu’s enemy
• Global Examination
• Monster entertainment
• Demon Apartment
And that’s it! Hope enjoy Anon! 😊

Opening Lines! :)
Rules: List the first lines of your last 8 stories (if you have less than 8, just list them all!). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favorite opening line. Then tag 10 authors!
@jockvillagersonly i ADORE you and i ADORE your writing and thank you thank you for blessing us with your beautiful existence
 ῍̻̩✧(´͈ ૢᐜ `͈ૢ)˖῍̻̩
And also THANK YOU for tagging me!!
These are mostly DMBJ au’s except for the last, which is a Guardian fic!
1. the whispers of spirits
Li Cu is pissed.
(1.b the whispers of spirits (chapter 11) (bc i can’t help myself)
Heavy clouds darken the sky as they drag Li Cu from Mr. Jiao’s fury and out into the sticky heat of the dying afternoon.)
2. The Needy Xiao Ge/Iron Threesome Fic That’s Entirely Sierra’s Fault
Pangzi cherishes the days when Xiao Ge seeks him out with desperate hands, all needy and wanting and soft.
3. Modern Princess Mute
The frustrating part is that she isn’t even trying to get noticed.
4. Wu Xie Poly fic
When Liu Sang first kisses him, it is a tiny fleeting thing pressed into the corner of his mouth.
5. Li Cu Timetravel Poly fic
Li Cu opens his eyes and it is dark and cold.
6. a little about family and love (it’s enough to make the heart ache)
Wu Xie is just about to slide into the van when the roar of an engine breaks through the relatively calm morning air.
7. DMBJ Transmigrator au
I might just be a little bit in love with you, Zhang Qiling wants to say. But that would be weird.
8. the Guardian ABO fic
The single most devastating day of Zhao Yunlan’s life is the day he meets Shen Wei.
Patterns I Noticed: I think I usually open with actions or in the middle of a scene. I don’t usually start out with dialogue. I think half the time it’s the pov character alone and dealing with a Sudden Interruption/Change in their life. OH I just realized- I think a lot of these stories start out with the pov character experiencing intense emotion. Li Cu is pissed, Pangzi is all SOFT and LOVING, Princess Mute is frustrated as FUCK, Wu Xie is shocked and full of aching want, Li Cu is terrified, Zhang Qiling is overwhelmed and floundering.
Things I’d Like To Work On: Not being so damn wordy?? I’d kinda just like to get to some plot please! Also! I’d like to try out some dialogue or some short, gut-punch sentences, as @s1utspeare puts it (and is so GOOD at!!!)!!
My Favorites: UUUHHHH I guess I really like 5 because it’s so Soft and it was the first Liu Sang/Wu Xie thing I ever wrote. I’m also particularly fond of 7 bc I think I’m Funny™ and this whole opening line basically drove my desire to write this au. OH and I like the whispers one bc?? I think I’m actually funny in that one? I find humour really hard to write and I don’t think I’m very good at it, but I think I set the tone pretty well with that first line :)
UUHHHHH I think most of the people I would normally tag have..already.....been tagged.......  @adrawrable maybe there are a few opening lines you wanna share? :) @lichelleme @traineecryptid @foxofninetales !! If you guys wanna share anything, too! These are no pressure tags, so don’t feel obligated! I just thought it might be fun!!

Since rewatching the guardian drama after reading the novel has made me mad about how bad and good both of them are I am Obligated to write out a list of what I think the perfect merger btw both versions of canon are. This will be in list format otherwise I’ll end up writing like 6k words again.
TLDR: the genre stays as supernatural from the novel and not Sci fi, bc that was rlly not fleshed out well. Shen Wei is a ghost king, and all the dixingren are ghosts or demons like originally intended. The ghost race naturally exists and wasn't born from kunluns shoulder fire or anything. They just exist separate from humans. Not all ghosts are former humans, some people are just born as ghosts, like Shen Wei. Zhao Yunlan has the guardian whip and all the cool stuff that comes with the Guardian order.  Overall, i’d keep the novel’s plot and relationship progression and ending without the backstory. Instead the backstory is a merger of both canons. From the drama I’d keep the characterization and themes as well as like half the extra cases and omit the other half.
I’ll be elaborating much further on my ideal backstory and other stuff under the cut bc the rest is 1.5k and I don’t wanna clog the dash
Okay SO In my ideal backstory there are two timelines just like the drama but the mythology of the book. The god Kunlun is actually zyl that went back in time and became a god. But the one that went back isn’t the current Zhao Yunlan. There has to be an original timeline where the god Kunlun never existed. Thus the great seal nor the separation of the three realms don’t exist either. Zhao Yunlan must go back in time to become a god, meet Shen Wei in the past, and create the current timeline where the separation exists but isn’t perfect. The current timeline is the one that the majority of the series takes place in.
In the original timeline, Zhao Yunlan is just some dude living in a world where ghosts, fairies, and all other beings just live in a giant free for all and it's kinda just a mess.
Like there’s government in modern context and all and all races live with each other but there's constant tension. ZYL works at some equivalent of the SID (same staff and side characters, but novel vers. Lin Jing is a monk, CSZ a zombie, etc) to protect people and all that and their job is rather hard. One day encounters the thousands year old ghost king Wei (who isnt shen wei yet bc zyl gave him that name in the future) who works alone as like a rouge cultivator of sorts. He lives on the surface undercover as a professor still bc he’s trying to not catch Yezun’s attention but does all the stuff he normally does as Heipaoshi. The two ally together for a case and bc they both have the same goals of getting all races to live in peace. At current, there are forces working together to decimate the human race, all lead by Yezun
As they work together they become closer and all that. Shen Wei tells him about how he was unable to prevent the great war 5 thousand years ago and neither could the gods so  he’s spent the past 5 thousand years trying to make up for it. As they search for ways to stop Yezun, they gather the 4 hallows and learn how to use them to manipulate time so ZYL can go into the past and stop the great war and separate the three realms (living, dead, ghost).  Shen Wei wants to go back with him but he can’t because he was alive all those years ago so if he goes back it will create a paradox. ZYL promises he’ll find Shen Wei in the past and create a timeline where they could be together in peace (that is the current timeline)
When goes back he becomes the god kunlun because there needed to be a new god born at the time to prevent the war.  Also this time traveller looked promising to Nuwa, Fuxi, and Shennong. And I know in the guardian universe gods are usually born and ppl don’t become gods. EXCEPT this can happen when a god passes on smth from their body onto them bc that did happen in the novel with Kunlun making shen wei a demigod. And since fu you and ma gui are supposed to be gods Nu Wa and Fuxi I think that when they die, they should make ZYL a god and that's how this stuff happens.
So like ZYL explains to the gods the time he came from and how he wants to save everything and they make him a god and he works to save everything just like he did in the drama but this time with the novel plotline. During this time he meets young Shen Wei (he’s still like a hundred or so years old) and they get close and all the stuff from the backstory happens. He gives him his name, all that good stuff. The entire time doesn’t let him know that he’s from the future or that his real name is ZYL. He just poses as kunlun.
The two of them alongside the other gods (who still die at the times they do in the novel) work together to end the war and establish the great seal and set up the cycle of reincarnation, per the current timeline. Although the seal and cycle of reincarnation aren’t perfect. Gods can’t reincarnate, and ghosts still don’t have souls. And just like the novel, doing all of this kills ZYL bc it takes a lot of energy to create the seal even though it isn’t perfect.
Shen Wei of course doesn’t want ZYL to die and zyl says it's alright because he fixed the timeline so there must One day they will meet again and ZYL reveals the truth about the timeline to shen wei before he dies. This becomes the promise that Shen Wei mentions to meet again. Before he dies, ZYL gives him the shoulder fire as a memento ( i still like the candy wrapper necklace deal but i’ll take this too. Maybe both.. The pendant is still just rlly cool.. Gay ppl)
Shen Wei knows gods can’t enter the cycle of reincarnation and still makes the deal with Shennong to strip Kunlun of his godhood and let him reincarnate. This sets us into the novel timeline where isn’t allowed to meet any of zyl’s reincarnations before he becomes zyl otherwise he will die and also fuck up the timeline. The same 5 thousand years of pining still ensue bc Gay Ppl and i love making Shen Wei suffer but he doesn’t have the shrine room thing bc i think thats weird and yea.. Bad.
In the meantime Shen Wei does a lot of things mostly just protecting the great seal and working for Hell to keep the peace but still does other stuff. He still watches out for ZYL’s reincarnations but doesn’t do much besides make sure they don’t die a premature death. They meet again finally at the beginning of the series and the timeline resumes like canon. And that's my master plan that merges both drama logic and novel logic while making a much better timeline. (I hope that makes some sense)
Da Qing is still Kunlun’s pet cat and important. Novel backstory applies to him. And I already mentioned him kinda but as for Yezun (Gui Mian in the novel) his deal is similar as in the drama but just a ghost. And he is a big player in the great war, he thought Shen Wei abandoned him as a kid but they were just separated. Shen Wei doesn’t know it's him till the end of the war and couldn’t stop him in the OG timeline and vows to bring him to justice and make amends. Shen Wei continuously tries to explain things to him but he just won’t listen and is imprisoned in hell bc yk… war criminal stuff and yeah he’s the main antagonist trying to break the great seal bc he’s still made about the past. Idk. Yezun wasn’t well written in the novel OR the drama so like… honestly he just needs to be completely rewritten and I don’t care enough about that. He can just be a weak villain idk
the drama characterization stays the same for everyone else bc found family go brr. However for Lao Chu i… hmm… i think he should still be a zombie but the reason he killed someone should be related to his brother. I like that addition and then shen wei realized his sentence was unjust and exempted him. i like that storyline merger. bc the brother thing and him admiring Heipaoshi was drama only. in the novel lao chu just murdered some kid for a rlly whatever reason.
uhhh in terms of the cases… id make adjustments to most of them. i think the li qian case should be like the drama bc the novel just had her as a murderer and it was boring.
For the mountain river awl one was fine… novel version was funnier and more interesting action wise tbh… rip zyl and his exorbitant flirting. uhhh the whole reveal that shen wei was the soul reaper thing was kinda… ehh in the novel but i did love the comedy of afterwards Shen Wei pretending he went into cardiac arrest when he actually just… has no pulse bc he's a ghost.
ID KEEP THE WORTH IT SCENE AND RAIN SCENE… THOSE FUCK SO HARD… I love the drama for adding those every damn day. the novel version of zyl losing his sight sucked and was sooo boring.  Keep the drama version on that.
also id keep dr. cheng. i'm very pro dr. cheng and her friendship with shen wei it adds so much to his character imo. keep the fruit seller man and his wife for the merit brush..omg it adds SO MUCH the way the drama did it.. like the drams build up with the novels pace of that arc.. mwah. it felt like it dragged a bit in the drama but if it went faster and without the hospital ep and with sha ya (sorry sha ya) that would've been so good. tho keep novel version of da qings memory loss and lao li. that was rlly impactful.
id say keep some of the cases like the mirror one, the eyes doctor one, etc. just to like.. yk have more to fill in general.. novel pacing but drama characterization without the bs that wasn't fully realized. and novel ending ofc. And that’s it!!
I hope most of this makes some amount of sense  but it probably doesn’t. In my head it all tracks but like ik most of u don’t know anything about the novel so this sounds like gibberish. Also I know this would literally never happen but this is MY ideal merger of the two canons that I feel compelled to expand on for some reason. Anyways, as io said,, we need to rebuild guardian. Like literally let me and the mutuals write Guardian and it will be 500 times better.

Hi again....Do you mind if I ask a few questions?
Who is your fav main couple in mxtx novels (wangxian or hualian or bingqiu)? And why?
Who is your favorite love interest in MXTX three novels (luo binghe, lan wangji, or hua cheng)? And why?
And who is your favorite protagonist in MXTX three novels (shen qingqiu, wei wuxian or xie lian)? And why?
Sorry if you've answered this question before....
Fav Main Couple:
Emotionally, Wangxian bc sentimental reasons of reading it first. Objectively Hualian bc I love the sheer beatnik energy of Xie Lian being the prototype perfect model for Heaven Official as per JW’s wishes and then after graduating being all like “Nope, I don’t wanna climb the corporate ladder dad! I wanna go on the road and meet the real ppl and their struggles and explore the land!”... and then he meets his hot biker bad boy anarchist mafia boss boyfriend and all of evil wall street dad’s plans for him go to shit...and that’s beautiful.
Fav Love Interest:
Lan Wanji: I like tsundere disasters. LBH is too puppy love, HC is too cool (and secretly such an otaku lol). LWJ is the one who is constantly, silently, screwing up and freaking out about it. He is the messiest one and I love him. Also, and I know I’m in the minority here, characters whose only focus in life is their love interest lowkey freak me out. I mean, in fiction and if they are one of the MC’s it’s romantic, but imagine if it’s one sided...yikes. HC has a whole realm under his command but that is barely brought up in the novel (and they could elaborate on that, the thing is huge), LBH does everything for Shizun. LWJ is the only one who has more loyalties to consider, and while that is one of the things that holds him back and might contribute to the tragedy in MDZS, it also makes him the most interesting character. He has his brother and uncle, later on he has Shizui, and his actions, both when he holds back bc of his sect/family and when he chooses WWX over all of them...it has a lot more weight because he is the one out of the 3 ML’s whose choices come at bigger personal cost.
Fav Protagonist:
Wei Wu Xian: He’s the personification of disaster and that makes him so relatable. BQ is like a sassy best friend you love. XL is adorable and the type of character you want to hug and protect, but he’s not relatable, bc nobody is that kind and giving.
WWX with his sense of justice, his rash decisions he eventually regrets (or not), his terrible memory, his adhd, his intentional flirting with ppl he doesn’t really want anything with just for the fun of it, and his “unintentional” flirting with the one he does, his obliviousness to love, his tendency to say everything is fine when it clearly isn’t, and the way he clearly avoids thinking about stuff as a coping mechanism, also the way he can stand up and speak his mind and be powerful to strangers but just lays down and takes all the verbal abuse from ppl closer to him (oh boy do I relate to this...not to my family thankfully, but I am usually such an outspoken person and then I let some “superiors” at work step all over me bc I don’t like confrontation and want to get along with everyone on my daily life)...and of course there’s the whole “I tried so hard to do things right, how did I end up ruining everything?”...There is just a lot of relatable and lovable things about WWX and his hopelessness does hit an emotional chord bc I think everyone has tried their best at some point in their lives and then had things turn out awful....and afterwards having to get up and move on. And yes, it’s all very wuxia and metaphorical, but all his attitudes post resurrection are so relatable: being ashamed, not wanting to be found by anyone he knew, later on after he was found just not wanting to talk about it and rather pretend it didn’t happen. Even the fact that the story ends and him and Jiang Cheng still aren’t ready to put it all behind them is relatable. There’s some relationships, some people, it’s going to take more time and more than one hard talk to fix things with. (See why I love WWX? his character makes me go all sappy and meta deep. I guess some of the stuff I said is also true for XL but he is like Jesus and I am much to petty to relate to him.)

Rewatching Guardian - Episode 07 Part 2/3
Episode List || Part 1 | Part 3
SPOILERS for upto episode 40, SPOILERS for the novel.
Tumblr media
Again, WHY THE OMINOUS MUSIC??! This is a funny scene!
I freaking love Chu Shuzhi omfg xD “Ahh” *nods sarcastically*
This confirms Zhao Yunlan was following Shen Wei xD
The two of them do some creepy stuff in the name of love that would be so disturbing without the context of Weilan lmao
Tumblr media
Before Shen Wei can even greet her, Zhu Hong just gets straight down to business xD
“Gui Jian Chou” - This nickname was a direct reference to the novel and a nice little cookie for those that read the novel. But it’s just plain confusing for people that haven’t lol
Like, what, is this a hidden jest or roast to Zhao Yunlan’s shamelessness or something?? xD (I read the novel after I watched the drama. Did I mention that? I forgot. :< )
“I was scared into confusion” - My man you lie so easily but at least try-- TRY to make it convincing. I know you can do it.
I love Da Qing. I love that at this point Xiao Guo feels comfortable enough to laugh along with jokes and somewhat relax around Zhao Yunlan. I love this. Beautifuk
Also look at Shen Wei’s smile dgfugwfkwa omfg <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“...What just happened? Why is he talking about bears? Is this a way to distract Zhao Yunlan from his identity or.....? Am I missing something????”
Yes. I was indeed missing something. I completely missed the fact that Shen Wei was trolling us all. I had no idea what hit me that first time I watched it. What a fool he made out of me lmao xD
I have questions though lol. It’s clear he’s been on about bears for a while. Shen Wei’s trolling for some reason. But, like, Zhao Yunlan just let him???
Just WHY was Shen Wei trolling us so hard?? I bet he was having the time of his life cackling on the inside lmao.
He’s so subtle that something as ridiculous as this went past my BS-radar and my troll-radar completely. I thought he was being serious and sincere. He’s spewing utter unconvincing BS without batting an eye!
I’m telling you, Shen Wei is probably very VERY good at lying and not half bad at politics. He just prefers not to and just becomes an actual wreck when facing Zhao Yunlan and I can’t get over this.
Small brain: Zhao Yunlan’s a troll. Big brain: Ye Zun’s the troll kiing. Mega brain: Shen Wei is the ultimate troll, the troll god.
Just look at his face in the second to last screenshot! That is the face of a man who’s trying very hard not to laugh and is quite pleased with himself.
WHAT A TROLL. xD
Tumblr media
Youchu are weaker ghosts from the novel. Cool. I was kind of excited for them after seeing that drawing but that was some profound disappointment.
Also, if Da Qing was already thinking of Youchu, why did he not mention anything until now? Why let Shen Wei keep going on about bears?? xD
Shen Wei himself dealt with the case of Youchu infestation, so he didn’t think about it being a possibilities (hence the bear trolling. I’m never getting over the freaking bears.) because he did manage to send all the Youchu back to Dixing. It’s just Zhu Jiu’s putting them back on Haixing again.
Hah... Hoping this isn’t Zhao Yunlan thinking Hei Pao Shi’s incompetant or some shit. I don’t think so anyway, but still. The thought popped up in my head.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You don’t think it’s strange that Shen Wei knows about these hell gremlins but you draw the line at Shen Wei thinking the thugs don’t have Dixingren qualities?
Shen Wei could’ve been meaning how Dixingren would act on Haixing. A lot of Dixingren probably would be doing illegal stuff and commit robberies and stuff because of poverty. But they wouldn’t be so brazen as the two thugs. They’d take the money and GO. They wouldn’t wanna be taking risks with the looming presence of the SID and Hei Pao Shi. Not unless they’re really strong or after something specific, neither of which apply to the thugs.
But what Shen Wei probably meant was some inherent presense of dark energy or something Dixingren have specifically that either only Shen Wei can sense because of some power he Learnt, or because Shen Wei is strong and skilled enough to mask whatever it is that give away Dixingren to those who know what to look for. Hence why he can easily spot Dixingren but other Dixingren can’t tell he’s one until he gives himself away by lifting whatever invisible ‘mask’ or damper he’s got on. I have headcanons about this. I might make a post for it later. Not sure.
Shen Wei shutting up at this could be because 1) he’s already said too much and isn’t willing to give up more information that’d point to him being Hei Pao Shi.
2) Shen Wei is still hesitent to trust Zhao Yunlan with information that could be used to find a way to detect Dixingren in hiding that are simply just existing on Haixing. Not something horrible but seen as a crime regardless as it’d be a violation of the treaty.
Damn.
“It’s always that most are evil, few are kind” - The same way most people police would encounter would mostly be criminals IN A JUST AND IDEAL WORLD WHICH IS NOT THE WORLD WE LIVE IN, CLEARLY. UGH.
The Dixingren that are not “evil”, as he says, are staying out of trouble and mixing in with Haixingren.
Also when I say “evil”, read “desperate” and “cornered”.
Zhao Yunlan has already partially made up his mind about trusting Shen Wei. I’m glad he noticed that Shen Wei is trying to protect somebody, whoever it is that’s Shen Wei source of information on Dixingren or just himself, by not telling everything to the SID which doesn’t have the best reputation.
I’m also glad to see how despite the anti-Dixingren propaganda of Xingdu Bureau and basically every record there is about Dixing since the war, Zhao Yunlan’s able to try to broaden his horizon.
Zhao Yunlan is a Good Man.
Tumblr media
The idea of something so overwhelmingly terrifying and brutal that it causes a person to go mad is not a bad idea.
It’s just that when you hype up a culprit/monster like that, you have to deliver something.
But this is Guardian the web drama. :/
“if he’s an orange or a pear” *flashback to Chu Shuzhi and Hei Pao Shi’s toes*
(Continues in part 3)

Jiang Cheng vs Shen Qingqiu (Jiu)
Ahhh, a meanness for a meanness, I see :3 Let’s see, purple JiuJiu or teal JiuJiu… ooof this is gonna get long while I struggle with choosing lmao.
Jiang Cheng was the first MXTX character I properly loved while growing to love them even more as time went on, compared to other MDZS characters I loved at first who I’ve grown… sick of constantly seeing, if not actually disliking them. (It’s overexposure to your dull presence in the present storyline and half of MDZS fan content seeming to be Gusu-based post-canon domesticity, WWX, I promise. I’ll always consider you an interesting character before MXY got involved.) Meanwhile, finally reaching the lategame reveals about Shen Jiu as opposed to vague, MTLed spoilers heard from other people is the most excited I’ve been to read a character’s backstory in like… forever.
It’s a lot easier to get to grips with Shen Jiu as a character, since actual chapters involving him are 2 main chapters and an enclosed series of extras which condense his life into a very short, if fascinating to parallel with the wider story, space, while Jiang Cheng’s appearances are spread more thinly across a far longer novel and period of seen and unseen time (which I have not… finished, which impacts my ability to enjoy the character.) I feel like it’s a bit unfair to give it to Shen Jiu, since Shen Jiu does have the ‘easier to parse’ element, or Jiang Cheng, because I don’t have the proper context for him. There’s no way I can properly understand of the MDZS characters without having read the whole novel.
On that note, I will judge them anyway! The two of them occupy the same narrative role, foil to the love interest, the big vestige of the past confronted by the protagonist at the end (which, again, for Jiang Cheng, I have not yet actually read in proper context.) Let’s just get out the way that Lan Wangji is… not one of my top five, while that I do immensely care about Luo Binghe, but that both Jiang Cheng and Shen Jiu fulfil the role juxtaposing well.
Jiang Cheng isn’t a child abuser, despite what annoying people say, while Shen Jiu undeniably is. Shen Jiu is an example of the cycle of abuse and all his attempts at becoming and being better being thrown back in his face, and on many occasions causing him extreme pain and degradation. Luo Binghe is himself, but with a touch better circumstances, and that’s enough to make Shen Jiu wildly despite him. Meanwhile, Jiang Cheng does his best to help raise Jin Ling well, all his threats being empty, and actively shelters and confers more privilege than is actually fair onto him (the nets. I’m talking about the nets.)
Jiang Cheng is someone born into privilege who had to claw it back from nothing, but was seen by others as having the right to do so due to his family background. Shen Jiu is someone who had the least privilege possible as a slave, who clawed his way up from nothing to also becoming a peak lord. Shen Jiu's revenge is personal and is used to cast him down; Jiang Cheng's is for his family, and he uses it to pull himself back up. They’re both solitary figures, with Jiang Cheng being excluded by every other major sect leader in the region deciding to become a Triumvirate, and Shen Jiu being despised enough by most other peak lords that they cheer his ‘amnesia’, which really is his death. Their brother figures abandon them, and they wallow in bitterness over it for years before their last small token is given over (the forgiveness that takes the form of telling Yue Qingyuan to leave, Chenqing to Wei Wuxian.
They are extremely similar. The main differences are that one isn’t a child abuser, and that the other was born into privilege. One gets the chance to go on living and the chance to change and have his life improve for the better. The other is torn out of the story where everyone else gets the chance to become better people, who always believed things would turn out badly and that he was a terrible person and all his attempts to do good were meaningless (and yet did some anyway, such as with Liu Qingge, which did indeed backfire.)
While you can argue that he got what was coming in PIDW, as Shen Jiu actually said himself in the extras, Shen Jiu’s life in SV is so much more unfair than Jiang Cheng’s. They’re both interesting characters, but Shen Jiu never had a chance at successfully breaking out of the cycle with his mindset and the results of his actions, and was then just killed off for the sake of someone using his body (which, with his backstory of being called an animal, and “goods” and then his new, v privileged passenger also thinking of him as less than human and also “goods”… Well, realising that he is a person and wishing he could return, and that everything might be okay if he did is the apotheosis of Shen Yuan’s character development, so it’s not like it’s a meaningless thing. But still.
They’re both very similar, and very interesting and well-rounded characters. But for the sheer unfairness of his SV fate, I’m giving it to Shen Jiu. Though Jiang Cheng gets kudos for… not abusing children so badly that when they’re all-powerful demon lords, they still try to protect themselves from you when injured. (Even if it is a commentary on masters being really shitty to their students in xianxia novels.) …Maybe closer to a tie then.
(Sidenote since it doesn’t really fit the character vs character vibe: I feel kinda bad about my relationship to MDZS, since it feels like I got really tired of it before I got the chance to finish the novel, when I was… really excited and attached to it in the period immediately after the end of the first donghua, while I got really, really invested in SVSSS and actually reached the end of it. Maybe it’s that I keep getting slapped in the face with content because it’s become such a large fandom (...the idol stans, so many...), maybe it’s that all the new adaptions that make me feel like I’m falling behind in a race rather than actually Enjoying What I’m Reading, maybe it’s because certain subsections within the later MXTX novels fandom tend to be really shitty about the one MXTX novel I haven’t had to force myself to keep on reading and actually go back to on a regular basis… idk, I wanna take a step back and re-evaluate and actually get to grips with the story, but things keep moving too fast for me to be able to do so. Maybe that’s why I’ve ended up really hating a lot of elements from it when normally I feel like I’m fairly chill with stories…)

Hi Notti, not really mdzs related but, since you're a fanfic writer pls if you can help me out with my fic problem? So i'm working on my oc fiction and i wanna add some chinese charas too. And the problem is idk how to choose their names? Should i go with those names that i kinda like, or should i check out the name's meanings or... how the hell can i choose their names? Sorry for being kinda dumb for this but i've never worked with asian characters before but now i really want too
Def not a dumb question haha Okay uhh this is just based on my own limited knowlege so if anyone sees anything wrong or would like to add more, feel free to send them in or reply here! ❤️
CN names don’t conform to Western types. For example, we have some sort of baby book that has lists of names in the West and you pick from there usually or you add “Jr.”, “II,” etc for those direct in the family line. But this is not the case in CN naming conventions — there’s no baby book (or if there is I don’t think they use it) and you don’t really name your kid after someone else.
SURNAMES — this one is easier since there’s a list of top and most used 100 (forgot the correct number) surnames and very rarely have I met someone who doesn’t use those. Since that’s a list, I’m guessing it’s somewhere in the internet.
GIVEN NAMES — this might be trickier. One CN naming convention I’m sure of has got to do with the five elements that an individual supposedly has in their bodies. And when it’s been noted that for example, this baby lacks the element of “wood”, then they’d give the baby a name that has characters for “wood” in order to “add” to their missing element. There’s honestly a lot of factors being considered besides the elements (can be a poem, want a certain adjective for this baby, etc). The general thing is that you def should go for the meaning of the name as that’s very important. And by “meaning of the name”, the CN characters used is to be considered the most vital. It’s not rare to meet someone with the same name in pinyin form but to meet someone with exactly the same CN characters is the one that’s more rare.
Since I’m in WeiLan hell and the naming scene was important, might as well throw that example haha Okok, so let’s talk about Shen Wei’s name. The last name “Shen” is part of the common surnames (or we call them ‘xing’) so that one’s easy. Onto, the given name now. Shen Wei’s ‘Wei’ when he was originally introduced used the “嵬” character. Kunlun asks him “which ‘wei’?” bc while the pinyin (ok fine they dont use pinyin in that primordial setting but bare with me haha) of ‘wei’ can be a name of let’s say 5 people, the CN characters used for them would vary. In this case, the character for mountain “山” and ghost “鬼” are used. Kunlun reacts that it’s too literal bc that’s what Shen Wei actually is as a creature so just like in modern times now, some can use characters to literally mean something about the baby or something. And then, Kunlun says they should add more strokes to the ‘Wei’ bc it looked weak and thus the ‘Wei’ became “巍”. Note how the pinyin may be similar which is “Wei” but the CN characters used are different — 嵬 vs 巍. So the point here is that the CN characters are picked, added, etc carefully to denote the meaning. It’s not just one character = one name = one meaning formula.
This became way too long, I’m sorry haha OKAY TL;DR — start by picking what meaning you want and then choose which CN characters you think would best represent it.
EDIT: got sent this link that might help you out!!

Fascinating. They usually cut jealousy scenes to a minimum or don't show at all even in pure BL genre, like Lan Wangji (esp Wen Ning thing) or Shen Wei being extremely possessive, bc it can't be explained by brotherhood in their opinion. It's also the reason it was cut from Ultimate. So why here suddenly add scenes like that and with such heavy focus is a mystery, since you've said it's not in the novel. It's not even reasonable jealousy, its just straight up "cant touch my piece of pizza" stuff
Hmm... never thought about it. LOL in the anime the kept LZ being jealous of Wen Ning though xD. Idk in "Sleuth of the Ming" they made a whole open scene out of it. What I've noticed is that their censorship always works differently, and some choices never cease to surprise me, as in who decides what's ok and whats not, bc idk... I understand that stuff like dying for each other, touching, staring can be by many seen as a touching bromance technically, I mean I've seen many ppl watching even cencored BL and being completely oblivious. But there are sometimes some stuff included, that I personally do not get how it can be interpreted as "close friends" and how it passed the censorship. And I do not mean here sucking out poisons, for example (bc I would've done this for my close friends if they were in danger haha).
I'm just judging from the point of view of like me and my sister being very close to the point of a person on the street asking us if we're lesbians lmao (I like still don't get where it came from, hand holding?xD). As I've said before, I guess I see why some ppl who don't have close friends or family would consider some closeness as romantic (since both close bros and couple do some things like spooning for example), but anyone who like saw idk bts members or have a super close bestie or sibling might know that hugging each other to sleep, wearing their clothes or feeding them a jelly bean if their hands are busy doesn't always mean you have any romance there going on, speaking from my expierience, so I just have different view on this "gay stuff vs bro stuff". (like to me the afterlife pingxie scene is actually gayer than any touching they've done, bc like why he didn't see his family or iron triangle whole if they all bros). It's just there are a LOOOT of things that can be indeed considered bro stuff technically (they might not be, but they could), but there is some stuff that just cannot be explained by we're bros, thats all. And this kind of jealousy is one of them.
Bc like a bit of jealousy like "my bestie wanted to go skating with their lover instead of me, so I'm upset we don't spend as much time together" can exist, but if you have problems with someone hitting on your friend, checking him out or even touching him and you don't want them to date anybody, that's another thing, that just means you wanna date them. Wu Xie can hug Fatty to sleep and they can slap each other's butts like me and my sis, but he'd never be jealous seeing someone flirting with him or smth. You know what I mean here? So I get why it's in most situations considered not censorship appropriate and it's cut.
But the most funny thing about the "him being unreasonably jealous" added scenes is the fact that like they actually chose to make him being absurdly jealous. Bc for example in the first version of the scene, Pangzi was trying to dance with Xiaoge, thats why Wu Xie got all worked up:
Tumblr media
it was at least somewhat understandable. But in the actual scene from the drama they went and for some reason changed it. Xiaoge pulled Pangzi in, bc he lost direction while being blind, but it was still Pangzi who got reprimanded for that at the end lmao
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so it just became even more hilarious, bc Pangzi just grazed him, he didn't even do anything, so I was like will this guy just calm the fuck down, but no, he kept going lolz
I'm just surprised about some of their deliberate choices I guess. So I agree, weird it is.
But Reboot in general was weird, when it comes to the rollercoaster of their choices lmao. They uncensored, then used censorship to uncensor, then censored to cover, its just the first time I saw this weird kind of censorship, like as long as girls are there, jokes like "I won't be able to get it up on a woman" are okay??????? Idk they were just extremely out there almost each episode with all kinds of stuff, that by the end I was like... well, at this point its already pointless. I guess it was just the first time, I've seen it made in such weird way and actually used in a smart way fitted with the character and no just for the sake of it. Adding a scene when he accidentally calls his in their opinion potential love interest his bro's name is actually uncensoring, not censoring, you know what I mean? (since we in fact didn't move anywhere near this realization in the book). Same as what many noticed about them openly making fun of censorship and "out of nowhere appeared feelings and how its not love and whats wrong with idolization if u don't know a person" after NPSS interviews and how it only made everyone fall for what pingxie have more. So it was like... I actually for the first time enjoyed it. It was a pretty genius way of showing Wu Xie's weird internal struggles from that book, which I thought were not possible to show. Bc as you know he's hilariously oblivious there about all of it and same as WWX for example do not even consider such possibility. But I think it's just bc it's not actual BL BL, it's a story where a couple naturally accidentaly came together and turned out to be both guys (even tho one was initially intende to be a girl xD), so its in general complicated. Wu Xie is just borderline lost at this point xD. It's like "Yeah, I want him... What do you mean as in dating? Whats that?". Or like:
- Want a wife?
- No, I want Xiaoge.
- As in you're gay?
- What's a gay?
That's basically how he rolls.
But I do love jealous Wu Xie, I think it's hilarious here, he's like somehow complitely okay with how idiotic he looks and that's very sweet haha.
P.S. "can't touch my piece of pizza" lmaoo well Xiaoge does look very delicious like Black Glasses says xD
P.P.S. all in all I really do not get how their censorship works in general at all. Like why Wangxian wedding bows were allowed, but other stuff don't? Or like I get like complimenting your bestie "you look hot in this" or "you're so pretty" or smth, but there's a difference between this and saying that their "lips look sweet"... like thats already another thing entirely. So at times I watch cdramas like... huh??? Maybe it depends on who checks it idk

8) Where do you take your inspiration from? Hmmm honestly a Very Good Question LOL. Literally every single fic I’ve written so far has had, like, a prompt--from Weilan Week to Tumblr prompts (to the two anons in my inbox, I will get to you guys I’m so sorry I know it’s been more than a month) to the Sundial Exchange (not yet posted) and then the priest fanzine (...still working on that too), so I just...build on from that. I do have some other ideas I’m working on, which were...either inspired by like, some things I saw on Twitter, or other fanfic I’ve read (there was a hilarious Guardian fic I read on Lofter where novel/drama Zhao Yunlan swapped bodies, and now I kinda wanna do something similar but with novel/drama Shen Wei--also if anyone’s interested here’s all eight chapters, most recent at the top since this is a tag search, and also it’s unfinished but it’s still plenty funny). In general, the answer is...”all over the place”?
12) Who is your favourite character to write for? Why? Zhao Yunlan, usually in more humor-tangent things. Because he can really be so goddamn funny. His thirst knows no end. Plus I can project my adoration for Shen Wei onto him. The only problem is that he really, really, tends to fuck up my outlines because he’s just so...out there. But honestly, I really like Shen Wei too, just because his character is so...carefully put together on the outside, but he really does feel things very intensely. Though sometimes that makes things harder too. Weilan in general lmao.
17) Post a line from a WIP that you’re working on. Okay so I wanted to post a line from this Kunlun/ghost king thing but it’s got an 80% chance of being my fic for the priest zine and I probably shouldn’t put anything of it out there before that’s done so here’s a snippet from the android Shen Wei DBH AU that I also put on twitter earlier lol:
Zhao Yunlan’s eyes flutter shut, and he turns his head on Shen Wei’s lap ever-so-slightly into the pleasant sensation of fingers running through his hair and down his scalp. His expression relaxes marginally, but the hint of a frown remains. “You wouldn’t lie to me, would you?”
Through an extraordinary feat of willpower, Shen Wei’s hand does not pause in its ministrations. “I will never lie to you, and I will never hurt you,” he says, his voice soft but no less profound. When he says this, his LED flickers a damning red.
For several long seconds, Zhao Yunlan is quiet. Finally: “As long as you say so, I believe you.”
Shen Wei, too lost in his contemplations, only “hmms” softly in acknowledgment, never noticing that Zhao Yunlan had kept his eyes open to a faint slit the entire conversation.
29) Do you have a story that you feel doesn’t get as much love as you’d like? Hmmm not particularly? My only non-crack attempt at writing canon-compliant dramaverse fanfic three first kisses (and two last ones) is decently low when I sort by kudos, since everything below that is for a rarepair or relate to not yet translated novel chapters, or Shen San...but it’s also the first Guardian fic I wrote so I can’t speak to its quality LOL. But I am a little surprised that Nameless (a soulmate AU) isn’t quite as popular as a couple fics that I literally wrote while half-asleep in a time-crunched panic ahaha especially because that one’s one of my favorites? But I’m biased towards soulmate AUs.
33) What’s the biggest compliment you’ve gotten? Ohhh hmmmm...any compliment regarding characterization, generally! Especially since sometimes I feel like I struggle with...keeping, like, tone consistent while trying to stay in character? I have no idea if that makes sense. Basically characterization compliments, yeah. Also if I ever make anyone cry. Good compliments.
49) Can you remember the first fic you read? What was it about? Oh boy. Most likely this was a Percy Jackson & the Olympians fic, but I definitely do not recall what it was about. Probably one of those Percabeth after the war things, or “PJO characters read the books and react to them” things. I was probably...10 then? I’ve been reading fanfiction for half my life omg ahahaha

fic tag game
aaahhh @vishcount thank you for tagging me!!! These are so fun and I adored reading about your fic journey~!  ೖ(⑅σ̑ᴗσ̑)ೖ ❤
OH as a note!! For the ppl I tag at the end I don’t expect you to read all of this bc it’s A Lot!!! but I figured you might want to do this game yourself? haha :)
Name: cross-d-a shortened version of my first ever username. unfortunately stuck with it now haha but i’m fond of it :p wish it was cuter tho!!
Posting the rest of this under the cut so it doesn’t eat up people’s dashes!!
(。•̀ᴗ-)✧
Fandoms:
oKAY YIKES there are....honestly too many too name. I’ve got a short and obsessive attention span so it’s either all or nothing with me usually. When I can stay in a fandom for a long period of time it’s a miracle. I’ll name the bigger ones that I’ve all written fic for! Even if I’ve never posted them haha
Right now I’m very firmly into Daomu Biji (dmbj). It feels like it’s both got a crap ton of content and yet barely anything at all haha. Maybe because the English fandom is so small. But at least there are a bunch of dramas and books!!! I really, really, really adore dmbj so much!! And a large part of that is the fandom!!! It's been a really cool and unique experience! Everyone in it is truly so kind and wonderful, and I’ve made some really incredible friends because of it (looking at you vish!! ❤). I’ve got a bunch of wips, but I’ve only posted two fics for dmbj!
Before this I was very into Guardian and mdzs. MDZS was my first foray into cdramas and Guardian’s Zhu Yilong really suckered me into watching more haha I also have fics for both these fandoms!
My very first fandoms were Fullmetal Alchemist, D. Gray-Man and Naruto. My very old ffnet account has fics for these and I’ve got a bunch of newer wips on my tablet. Then Star Trek, Twilight, BBC Merlin, Sherlock, Death Note, Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon, Battlestar Galactica, Avatar the Last Airbender and Marvel were a few of my main ones in high school. Plus a bunch of anime (like Fruits Basket! and Kuroshitsuji and Natsume Yuujinchou).
Then college hit and I renewed my childhood love of Tolkien (mainly lotr and the Hobbit), and Star Wars. I also found Teen Wolf! Then after college it was Stranger Things.
I find myself in a cycle of mild fondness and complete obsession with these fandoms haha I go back to Star Wars at least once a year!! Then I’m in the gffa hole for a few months. Marvel also reoccurs, depending on how interested I am in new content! Star Trek I always always always go back to. TOS is my comfort show and it will never fade from my heart ❤
But for now I’m stuck in cdrama hell and I love it
Tropes:
Time travel, found family, whump+hurt/comfort, fairytale-like elements, resurrective immortality (thanks to a “Nine Lives” Hobbit fic), CROSSOVERS
I’m a slut for all these things so they often worm their way into my plots haha
I also just- love weird premises. I think that’s the anime influencing me haha
Fic I spent most time on:
My series he leaves sand and stardust in my wake (main fic is hurricane on the edge of oblivion), I have...spent five years on now. I have done so much research for this fic it’s insane.
The premise is force ghost!Obi-Wan getting shunted back into his tiny 10 year old self. I incorporate a shit ton of legends and I try to stay as canon as possible. I basically want this au to feel like it’s 1000% plausible while still getting all my gay shit. It’s chock full of whump, redemption, found family, minor characters turning into major characters, and I’ve got slavery uprising on the mind, too. It’s just- everything I could ever want to explore in the Star Wars universe basically.
It’s my first big project. I started doodling and scribbling ideas in the margins of my notebook in my Scottish History class. I adore it so so so much. But, because of my hyperfixation and fleeting intense obsession with things it makes it- really difficult to consistently update. I leave it for months at a time and I am constantly guilt-ridden about it. Because it’s my baby and I have a lot of wonderful readers. I fear I’ll never be able to finish it. Especially since I’ve written so much and I’m still only in the beginning of it. ( ; A ; )
Also, I’ve spent so much time with Xanatos, Feemor and Bruck that they just feel like mine now. I can’t read any fics that involve them, it’s too strange. Which is a damn shame because I love them so much haha OH ALSO!! I think it’s the first really big fic to include those three?? So I’m very proud about that haha (I’ve had so many ppl comment about how they actually Give A Shit about these three and are Invested bc of me haha)
Favorite fic(s) you’ve written:
hurricane on the edge of oblivion (with nowhere to go) (Star Wars)
My long-term passion project. My love-letter to Star Wars, I suppose. Reading it now I feel like a lot of it is clunky or long-winded, but I think it really shows the foundation of my writing today :) Main characters are Obi-Wan, Xanatos Du Crion, Qui-Gon Jinn, Bruck Chun and Feemor. Eventually we’ll get to Maul, Savage, Feral, Shmi Skywalker, (more!) Ahsoka, Anakin and a shit ton of clones ❤
things we hunger for (Guardian)
My Ye Zun self-indulgent fic. It’s a time travel amnesia Weilanzun! Honestly has some of my fav writing I’ve ever done. It’s so soft and really indulges in the hurt/comfort. It gives Ye Zun the friends and family I think he deserves. Also, he gets to grow into a (mostly!) functional person and I adore him.
the beast that slumbers within your soul (mdzs)
Jiang Cheng centric fic!! I feel like all my favourite fics I’ve written are love letters haha. This is one def my love letter to Jiang Cheng. This fic possessed me for two whole days. I wrote 16k in almost one sitting. I went to sleep at 6 in the morning bc I couldn’t stop writing. And when I drifted off I kept thinking of new ideas so I’d whip out my phone and write down lines and notes. I- have never ever ever felt that way about anything. It was- insane. It felt insane. It was so amazing. I’m still riding the memory of that high.
Basically Jiang Cheng actually finds Baoshan Sanren and it turns out she’s a fox demon and Jiang Cheng is descended from wolves. It’s- okay I said the fic above this had my favourite writing?? That was a lie. This has my favourite writing I’ve ever done. It’s unfinished bc I am in dmbj hell but I am still excited about the next chapter which features Wei Wuxian’s pov!!
the whispers of spirits (dmbj)
My current passion project. In a way it kinda feels similar to hurricane? Bc multiple povs, incorporating different aspects of canon (we’ll get there!! I promise!), shit ton of research, etc. etc. I really really really love it for so many reasons. I’m basically taking all the things I was unsatisfied with in Reboot and Sha Hai and running with it. Found family and whump galore! It’s also a love letter to the women of dmbj who really deserve so so so much better.
Honourable mention to:
One Day (you’ll have given more of yourself than is meant to be taken) (Marvel)
This fic also kinda possessed me. I just- couldn’t get rid of the idea of a trans!Thor. And I mean a mtf Thor! It’s just? So many people look at Thor and go “that’s a Real Man.” Full stop. They never think there could be anything more, and it really really really bothered me. So I wrote out my feelings. I’m not trans. I don’t have that experience at all. I’ve had issues and confusion about my gender but nothing like this. I just wanted to do justice to this idea of Thor in my head. And I still feel a bit nervous having posted it. But I've gotten so many comments from people who really connected with what I’ve written? So I’m very very thankful I wrote it and it has a very special place in my heart. It’s a very cathartic fic.
Fic I spent least time on:
Probably we rise (Star Wars) and I think it shows haha. I wrote it in response to Dave Filoni posting a drawing of Ahsoka and Gandalf telling her “People thought I was dead, too, and look how that turned out...” So I incorporated Ahsoka (and Din and Grogu and Ezra!!!) into the ending of Rise of Skywalker, kinda explaining how I think they could all still be alive. :)
Longest fic:
hurricane is my longest fic (159k) but I’m kinda worried whispers will eclipse that.....
Shortest fic:
Of my posted ones it’s The Five Moments it Took Tony and Scott to Admit They Were Best Friends (and the first time they ever did), currently clocks at 1.6k. It’s unfinished tho so maybe that doesn’t count.... otherwise it’s we rise which is completed and 2k.
Most hits/kudos/comments/bookmarks:
hurricane overall has the most of all these. Though I don’t think hits counts as much bc it’s multi-chapter. If you discount multi-chapter stuff, most hits goes to my obikin smutfic Homecoming, bc people are horny af haha
Fic you want to rewrite/expand on:
If I had energy I’d like to rewrite the beginning of hurricane bc it feels so so wordy. I’d want to expand on One Day bc I really would like to write a whole series with trans!Thor. And like- I’d really like the focus to finish any of my WIPs.
Share a bit of a WIP: I really wanna share my Guardian/dmbj crossover that I started back in August. Bc I adore the idea of wu xie&shen wei&ye zun triplets! Plus time travel!!! I dunno if I’ll ever finish it tho ( ; A ; ) It just feels like a lot to deal with right now.
This scene takes place during the Mountain Awl arc. Guardian crew and desperado fam run across each other at the village! Wu Xie has recently found out that he’s adopted and he’s searching for answers in the area Sanshu originally found amnesiac!toddler!Wu Xie in :) Gonna pull two snippets bc I’m v excited and this might be the only time anyone else sees this fic haha:
“Oh?” Pangzi focuses on Yunlan now, lips twisting. “You think I’ve ‘got the wrong guy,’ huh?” He laughs, but it’s not a nice sound. “That’s rich! Are you that cocky or are you just stupid?”
Bristling, Yunlan drops his hands and scowls. “Excuse me?”
“Sir,” Shen Wei tries. “I think—”
Pangzi’s eyes snap back to Shen Wei, sharp and blazing. “How dare you fucking steal his face!”
What?
Automatically, Zhao Yunlan turns to Shen Wei, but the professor looks just as shell-shocked as Zhao Yunlan feels which- is seriously something. Since everything about Shen Wei is so carefully controlled, kept to the minimum. Except for those delightful little smiles that bloom across his lovely face, or the startled little bursts of laughter that fall from his lips. Or even when anger and frustration spark across his features, cracking his calm veneer open enough that he can see a glimmer of what lies beneath, the fire in those eyes. Zhao Yunlan delights in those moments, makes a game of making Shen Wei’s control slip.
He tells himself it’s nothing more than a game. Nothing more than trying to find out what makes Shen Wei tick.
Zhao Yunlan’s always been very bad at lying to himself. Or very good. Depending on who you’re asking.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Yunlan splutters.
But before anyone can say anything else, a very familiar voice calls:
“Pangzi? What’s wrong?”
Yunlan can feel Shen Wei stiffen, and Yunlan himself is pulled to that voice like a planet in orbit, like the inevitable plummet to the ground.
Another shadow wavers in the doorway before it steps out onto the dirt. Light illuminates shaggy hair, limning it gold, sharply casting everything else in shadow. But as the figure nears, the contrast softens until Yunlan can see the newcomer’s face properly and- and—
“Wu Xie!” Pangzi growls. “We’ve got ourselves an impostor!”
The man wearing Shen Wei’s face steps up to them, brows furrowed and mouth pulled down into a sharp frown. He glances between them, eyes landing on Shen Wei. His scowl deepens. He opens his mouth, but then—
“Wu Xie?” Shen Wei breathes, all trembly and lost and hopeless.
Heart in his throat, Yunlan turns to Shen Wei again. Turns and flinches at that stricken look upon Shen Wei’s pale pinched face.
“A-Xie?” Shen Wei chokes. “Didi?”
and
Pangzi snorts. “Professor?”
“I-it’s true!”
Startled Yunlan swings his attention over to Jiajia who clenches her backpack to her chest, face screwed up in admirable determination. “P-professor Shen took me and Xiao Quan on a field trip to investigate an archeological site around here!”
“Oh?” Wu Xie drawls all slow and amused. “Well, what a coincidence. We’re archeologists, too.”
“With guns?” Yunlan bites out.
Wu Xie raises a brow, grin full of teeth. “Well, you can never be too prepared.”
“Right,” Yunlan drawls right back. “Are you a professor, too, then? You come here with your students?”
Wu Xie outright grins. “You could say that, I suppose.”
Out of the corner of his eye, one of the men rolls his eyes. He’s the one with sharp features, glasses and looped earbuds. Does he think it’s appropriate to listen to music at a time like this? Yunlan admires the man’s gall.
aahhhh vish thanks so much again for tagging me!! This was so fun to relive my fic memories!! I’m gonna tag @alwaysaslutforshakespeare @jockvillagersonly @tehfanglyfish @lichelleme @undyingsunshine @humanlighthouse  @thewindsofsong I’m curious about your guys’ writing and fandom journey!! As always, no pressure to actually complete this!! I just thought it was fun ❤
Wow if you read all of this I am very humbled and impressed, thank you!!

Can’t say enough how much I love Yang Jian alien man~
Also: so far I’m happy (knocking on wood) with how they’re handling the main romance. I was really hopimg even if she is the reincarnation of his lover, that if he falls in love it will be brand new and with whoever she is now. And although he’s had one dream where she looked like his dead lover, he considers it highly possible his mind just dreamt her at random, or because she waters and “affected” the flower. So I like that he doesn’t jump to view them as one person - and the one time he does, he checks her memories, realizes this girl has no memories of his dead lover, and just cries on the ground (probably cause he’d suddenly had hope she’s alive and now he’s grieving fresh again she’s still gone). And I honestly prefer this so much. I like when reincarnations are treated more like full on new people. And this is definitely more that kind of approach (guardian did a mix!? Like guardian had Shen wei both quite suspicious it was Kunlun, but first that it was a doppleganger, then actual Kunlun just lying and being super cruel, then Kunlun with zero memory and therefore functionally a new person, which is a hot mess of multiple versions of pain lol, then finally Shen wei probably decided zhao yunlan Was Kunlun - or will be - and started worrying when he’d lose Kunlun to the past.)
Also @keyhsahla while this show is not as Niche Perfectly My Thing, I do think as of ep 8 it’s handled reincarnated lovers in a way that might be relatable to akfan?
Also to no ones surprise bai yu is still playing a bottom and I think that’s just a thing he’s inherently in every role at this point as far as I’ve seen uvu (in fact he has the most switch energy in Guardian of all the roles I’ve seen so far ToT this ones more like Luo Fei and I Love him for that tbh because I loved how Luo Fei dealt with flirting lol). Bai Yu is just so cute playing roles like this that try to handle people more forward than themselves. WHICH is making me crave flashback scenes SO much. Because I bet he was a cute little evil demon, who the heavenly soldier caught and got to calm down/be friends with her, he got smitten and had no idea what to do (and I bet it was hella cute) and she made him her lover. I’m sure he was a soft punk and I WANT to see it. But we aren’t getting a lot yet. As usual catch me desperate for more flashbacks in my modern drama lol. What can I say I loved young shen wei and Kunlun and young Bai Qi I also wanna cuddle and see MORE of.
Young Bai Qi would have totally fallen for Young Shen Wei - where’s that crossover fic! Bai Qi could he with the rebels and curious about this alliance leader enemy who’s so talented and think “oh I wanna spy and learn to do what he can do!” And Shen wei catches him but you know how Shen wei loves curiosity and teaching and probably tries to sway Bai Qi to not fight or run and maybe join him instead. And Bai Qi eventually does warm up (maybe still debating to himself if he’ll learn then use it against Shen Wei), but Shen Wei is so sweet and genuine that Bai Qi just ends up smitten and in love.
Also the flashbacks I just? Keep pretending are like Love and Redemption universe? Since I feel like the alien story is just an excuse for modern powers etc. Because like the heavenly soldiers are very “Bai Lin and Heavenly Realm” vibe in the past (except Yang Jian is much nicer) you know just hunting spirits or “the demons like Sifeng.” And the dead lover girl reminds me of Xuanji in the middle as a part of heavenly realm (heavenly soldiers) but living on earth with humans and fallen in love with a demon (spirit). And Bai Qi is like Sifeng (but I’d wager Bai Qi might actually have done some actual malicious stuff at some point? Whereas Sifeng is really quite heroic near constantly). So modern era is like a personal LaR modern life and I’m liking that.

The Untamed Episode 26, My Commentary!
Look out below, lots of spoilers!
MY being a smarmy bastard and sucking up to the Su leader. Uggghhhh HOW did I ever like him?!
LXC ilke “Su Shen is a defector, we do not approve of him. KICK HIM OUT.”
But he’s too nice to MY and is like whatever we’ll let it slide.
JC showing up to the party with a couple of people who are Not WWX is….not ideal. Is he still at the market (IS HE STILL WITH MY LOVE, LADY WEN?) and sad and isolated?
(Frfr they’re the outcasts, both super powerful and super loving, but hated by society. I could ship it.) (Also, they’re both freaking gorgeous and I love both of them dearly.)
Well, SHIT. JC just basically disavowed WWX. He said he didn’t want credit for what the Jiang Clan had “caught” (thanks to WWX) which means he’s still angry and embarrassed by WWX. I do not like that.
Clan Leader Jin is like…...good boy, JC, we approve of you not liking WWX.
And then I’m like *SOBS*
WWX is standing ominously outside WHAT IS HE THINKING
JZX2 is a little bitch, tbh.
He’s trying to pressure the Lans to acknowledge him, when the whole world knows exactly what their dynamic is. Youlittlebitch.
And LXC did it, because he’s the most conflict avoidant character in history.
LXC like “I’ll do it, but I won’t like it.
LWJ just straight up refusing to acknowledge JZX2 is GOLD. He’s clearly learning from WWX. Normal LWJ would NEVER.
WWX JUST GRABBED THE CUP OUT OF JZX2’s HAND LIKE I’LL DRINK IT, YOU CAN’T FORCE HIM I’M GOING TO DIE LAUGHING.
THE AUDACITY!
He’s insane.
He has a death wish.
He has like, seven death wishes.
But he can’t die before he gets with Lady Wen! He needs happiness ahhhhh.
(Seriously, what has happened to me? I literally started this show for WangXian. Wtf, I’m slipping. I need to FOCUS.)
But anyway, I digress.
He just downed it, and then turned the cup upside down in midair to prove it was empty and he’d drunk it down in the place of his love.
WWX like ZZX2…...talk to me. Talk to me, or I will tell everyone in this room [whatever the secret is]. JZX2 like imma call your bluff, you have NOTHING. WWX like, wanna bet?!
WHAT DID HE DO TO WEN NING.
Everyone who knows WN is like……..WHAT DID YOU DO.
JZX2 hurt the Wen Clan group and then has them hidden (prisoner) somewhere. YIKES.
LWJ and JC like WHAT DO WE DO, WE CAN’T OFFEND PEOPLE, BUT THIS IS ABOUT TO BE A NIGHTMARE FOR BOTH OF US AHHHH.
“WWX! How dare you be so rude as you stand here!” Lolololol have you met him?!
“Do you really think you are so invincible that no one dares to offend you?” Why yes, yes he does. WWX fears NO MAN. (Just maybe the love of his life, Lady Wen. He does seem to defer to her at times.)
So JGS is speaking to WWX about the STA, and all I can think is that when WWX gets really serious and ready to be defiant and win an argument by Telling the Truth and just Knowing a lot of Important Things, he clasps his hands behind his back. And he just did that here. I’m ready.
(paraphrased) You did bad things, people got hurt.
WWX “Just get to the point.”
JGS “Wtf that IS the point!”
JGS keeps talking.
WWX smiling like a DEMON.
Love it.
Oh shit. JC is going to MURDER HIM. And he’ll deserve it. WWX straight up asking JGS if the Jin Clan thinks they’re the natural successor to the Wen Clan. This looks SO BAD for JC.
“It’s almost as though it’s the heyday of the Wen Clan again.”
JFC, shut your mouth, WWX!
I’m still cracking up though.
One “Wei Ying” and WWX’s eyes *momentarily* slip over to LWJ like, I hear you bro, but I’m not listening to you right now.
This is a fascinating question of morality actually, and I bet viewers would view this scene and concept very differently depending on their own understandings of the world.
1. Well of course they and their clan were evil and cruel and deserve to be tortured severely.
2. These were innocents, just let them live.
3. They deserve punishment but not torture or death!
4. Just kill them all, the Wen Clan needs to be exterminated.
Okay, the fact that he grabs for his flute and everyone in the room freaks out is objectively funny.
Like every single person here is holding a SWORD, but they’re scared of a FLUTE.
In context, of course it makes sense. But to step back from context….it’s completely hilarious.
“Presumably, everyone knows that I am not patient.”
Maaaaaan this kid got jokes.
But aside from the amusement….LWJ NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING.
WWX isn’t just going to calm down. That’s not how this works. Drag him out unwillingly if you have to.
Well that was dramatic. Counting down from three to two has never taken so long or been so ominous.
WWX leaving and looking at LWJ like, I see you NOT helping me out here, BRO. Imma slow mo walk away from you in anger because F U, and Imma take up with WQ, SO THERE.
Wait is that not what happened?
SHE’S OUTSIDE.
SITTING HUDDLED UP BY HERSELF.
CRYING
“I found them.” HER TEARS AND THE DIRT ON HER FACE ARE GOING TO BE THE DEATH OF ME, NOW THEY NEED TO DISAPPEAR SO THAT SHE CAN BE HAPPY AGAIN.
She just cares SO MUCH.
And she’s so weak she can’t even stand up!!
Carry her on your back, like the lovers trope in Chinese dramas, WWX! She’s weak and needs to get to WN! Don’t leave her!
“After you finish eating this, I will take you there.” *Eats like a ravenous dog*
She blames herself, though there was nothing she could have done for him!
They stabbed him? DID HE SURVIVE IT? I DON’T THINK SO!? HOW SAD!
Lololololol LWJ sort of standing up for WWX there in front of MY, that was good. And then without words, asking his bro for permission to go find and help WWX. Yes, well done, LWJ. He certainly needs you…
I feel for JC, who’s sitting alone atm and probably feels helpless to do anything to correct the situation, even though the whole thing reflects poorly on him more than anyone else.
He’s LIVID. Not undeserved.
WWX and WQ are walking in the rain. Too bad he isn’t carrying her.
Shit, now she’s worried he’s dead.
The guards are like nobody gets through! Oh shit, oh wait it’s WWX, fuuuuuck go wherever you want.
Nobody can tell her where WN is……..they’d know if he were dead, right?! They’d answer, right?!!?
They’re like OH FUCK THE FLUTE OH FUCK THE FLUTE!!!!!!
Oh God, she has to check all of these bodies YIKES.
Like we already saw him stabbed, but I still don’t want to see this.
I feel like of all people, WQ and WWX could bring somebody back to life, I mean right?
Like WWX’s demon flute has to be good for *something* productive, right?
The swell of the music. Aaaaaand she sees him.
NOOOOO POOR WQ.
I mean poor WN too, of course.
Awwww WWX is sad too - he valued WN soooo much for their shared love of saving each others’ lives.
Helllooooooo STA.
The Jin Clan are going to casually slaughter everyone at the death camp. GREAT JOB. You really are the Wen Clan reborn!
DEMON FLUTE YAAAASSSS
“Since you don’t admit it, I’ll let him point it out himself.”
YES I AM SO STOKED FOR THIS.
Oh he looks fucking creepy.
“How could it be? WN is not under control?”
You idiot, you brought him back with demon magic you don’t fully understand. This is YOUR FAULT.
And WN fell to his knees. But like...is he dead or alive!?!?
LWJ WALKING THROUGH THE RAIN WITH A PARASOL, I CAN’T I HAVE ASCENDED THIS IS TOO MUCH.
“What happened?” “Someone came to their rescue. He resurrected the dead!”
LWJ like YOU DUMBASS WWX, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE.
WN is still upright so I guess he’s alive but without his spirit?
THE PARASOL
I’M IN LOVE.
WWX like there’s a parasol and an angel smiling at me all in white? What is happening. Why is he here.
“Come with me! Do you remember our promise? Let’s ride off into the sunset together!”
LWJ like lolololol have you met me? You may have changed me, but not THAT much.Well of course they and their clan were evil and cruel and deserve to be tortured severely.

I love this shot so much that wasted 5 whole minutes replaying it and gushing over it.
It is not beneath me to pause and hold back tears because of the beauty of Bai Yu’s face.

I cannot tell you just how tense I was the first time I watched this. I absoulutely cannot handle scenarios like this. But now I’m just excited. This was one of the few highlights of this episode. xD
This is the start of something beautiful.U_U xD
Also what business do these two have looking this good while one is being interrogated by the other’s people? Shen Wei’s visuals... it makes me wanna scream in the best way possible.

Round 1: Shen Wei VS Zhu Hong
I’ve watched this scene a few times and I was always a little confused about Zhu Hong tapping her pen on the table like that.
Since there was no effect on Shen Wei, I’d thought maybe it was just to create emphasis on her point.
And hence I was so confused about Shen Wei’s “not fully evolved” comment. How’d he know? Why is this relevant? Etc etc.
I was just dumb and didn’t realize that Zhu Hong had attempted to hypnotize Shen Wei and failed. Got it now. xD
But Shen Wei knowing all about the Yashou Tribes: ?????
Aren’t Dixingren and Yashou meant to be like stuff of myths and legends? Isn’t most people’s reaction to stories about them something along the lines of “that’s make-belief”?
So how come it’s not suspicious for this human, Professor Shen, to not only know of their existence but also be so knowledgeable about them? And I get this even, but why is it not seen as strange that this man knows but does not spread the word in any way? A normal human would have his life set if he “discovered” something like this.
And for a normal human to know this much, there must have been “evidence” to prove existence of Dixingren and Yashou. But instead this “human” teaches bio-engineering and researches the “possibility” of the existence of Dixingren. What even?
And yeah, Shen Wei is a 10k+ years old Dixingren, he is Hei Pao Shi, that’s why he doesn’t do what some human in his place would do. But the SID doesn’t know that.
Is Shen Wei’s knowledge not suspicious? Why is no one batting an eye?
Back to Round 1:
That was one hell of a burn, Shen Wei.
Zhu Hong asghk I’ll send you a tube of burn cream, there there.
Holy shit, Shen Wei’s smug smile though. I suddenly see the family resemblance. (I know how weird that sounds since it’s the same actor but- just- that was very Ye Zun of you, Shen Wei. It was very attractive. U_U
Zhao Yunlan, that’s your prime suspect being interrogated there. Why do you look so proud of him and why is there such warmth in your eyes??
Zhao Yunlan’s smile had saved my heart from collapsing under the tension the first time.
Conclusion to Round 1: Shen Wei - 1, Zhu Hong/SID - 0

Round 2: Shen Wei VS Chu Shuzhi
Shen Wei’s confidence is very VERY attractive, okay?
“You can’t even compare to his toes” - CHU SHUZHI OMFG XD
It’s clear as day on Haixing that Chu Shuzhi is talking about Hei Pao Shi.
But Shen Wei? When he responds he either means himself to push his point that he’s not the criminal or he’s referring to Zhao Yunlan because that’s how he sees Kunlun even though he knows that that’s not who Chu Shuzhi’s talking about.
The reason the first option is an actual possibility and not an OOC theory is because Chu Shuzhi is saying that Shen Wei is less than Hei Pao Shi’s toes (first off all, has Chu Shuzhi even seen Hei Pao Shi’s toes? How’d he know? jk lmao xD), so Shen Wei saying this person must be a righteous hero is him saying 1) “Someone you (Chu Shuzhi) look upto will be nothing less.” and 2) “I am being truthful and am on the side of justice, a tiny fraction of what that person is.”
The latter is most definitely the case though. Kind of like “That’s Kunlun. Kunlun who is undeniably sitting right there and is not just a dream, a figment of my imagination or a distant memory I’m holding onto for dear life.”
These are the moments that show that even though Shen Wei is reluctant when it comes to politics, diplomacy and just handling people in general, he is very capable of it. It not coming to him naturally doesn’t mean he won’t excel at it should he put in the effort.
And boiiii does he excel---- I need some water.
Conclusions to Round: Draw.

Round 3: Shen Wei VS Zhao Yunlan
Shen Wei’s “Shen Wei” face is back! He looks like a very sad puppy.
Zhao Yunlan’s instincts ayyyy~
Da Qing’s instincts ayyyy~
Tumblr media
I legit couldn’t get over the fact that Shen Wei could be this careless when I watched it the first time. This is so dumb, right?
But with added context of the past, this makes sense.
In that moment, Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan were working together just as they had during Ye Olde Haixing Era, and Zhao Yunlan was concerned for him the way Kunlun would be.
In that moment, to Shen Wei, they are Kunlun and Xiao Wei. And Xiao Wei has no secrets from Kunlun.
It’s not that Shen Wei’s careless and thought Zhao Yunlan wouldn’t notice or question it. He just completely forgot to be wary of Zhao Yunlan, who is not yet Kunlun, because of the familiarity of the situation. The last 10k years have disappeared for Shen Wei in that moment.
Tumblr media
Dude heard none of what Zhao Yunlan said to him.
Regardless of everything,Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan are so in sync, it’s beautiful.
I will cry over this. You can pry this ship from my cold, dead hands.
I hate this case btw. It was a colossal disappointment.
