CANT CATCH ME NOW ?! - leaving them behind
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they see you everywhere. james, jonggun, joongoo. they find bits and pieces of you lying around in their pockets, their houses and memories. it depends on which one it is which scene they see you in.
DG VER. gun ver. goo ver.
for james, he sees the sight of you in the crowd when he first started as an idol. he catches himself hoping for a glimpse of you in crowds as he did before. maybe you just show up at one of his concerts one day. he knows its a childish hope to think you'll come back. especially not when theyve all pushed you out of their lives.
but was it such a hopeless thought to have? a particulary fond memory of seeing you in the front row at barricade. hopping down and singing his lyrics to your face. fans thought you were just a really lucky person to catch the attention of DG, minimizing it to a harmless fan interaction moment just for the concert.
he loved the way your eyes twinkled underneath the stage light illuminating your face in a mesmerizing glow. he recalled the heartbreak when they were all gathered up at your apartment.
it had become a haunting memory of seeing the house abandoned. the only thing left was a small ragged old scarf you insisted on keeping
"yknow! one day for my super awesome snowman! ive been waiting for winter to come in korea so snow is finally here!" you tell him with a giddy grin at the mall. your loose baby strands around your face and your face bare with nothing on it standing out to him.
you always mentioned you wanted to experience the snow. you said you didnt have it where you were from. far too sunny for that you said.
"you wont have to wait long. it get cold fast in korea" he tells you. chuckling as you hold the scarf in your hand while picking out more winter items.
how unfortunate. it was snowing right now. he wondered where youve gone. maybe youve died off, its better for him that way. that way he wont have to think about whether or not youve settled down yet. maybe gone back to your old country or somehwere new.
maybe youre out on a date somewhere, possibly 6 feet down in a ditch. his mind wanders when it comes to you.
reading the note you left behind for him. written in a sparkly pen you always used.
"why do you have so many pens and only use one?!" he questions you with a raised eyebrow. his long fingers unzipping your pencil pouch and looking through all the pens you own.
"you cant expect me to use all of them. plus my papers look sparkly this way and its cute. the design is cute and i like how it writes!" you chirp at him. turning behind you and hitting his forehead with your pen. "red hair... i like you with your curly red hair. reminds me of someone i used to know" you tell him.
curling his hair around your pen before dropping it when you hear the teacher say your name and turning back to the board. your hair whipping him in the face "im innocent!" you joke with your hands raised causing the class to laugh.
you tell him youre sorry in the note. that you couldnt handle it anymore.
you tell him everything but telling him nothing at the same time. telling him of how you felt like everyone else was moving while you were stuck in the present. everyone was special and you were not.
he let the paper drop down after skimming the rest of its contents. he wished to just crumple it up and tossed it away. he couldn't.
he knew he was being selfish wanting you back when youve clearly stated in the note this was out of youre pure will, leaving them behind. he wouldve cried. he wouldve cried if he was james lee.
all he could do was pick it back up and meet back with gun, and goo.

Willing To Risk It - Finnick Odair
Finnick x Fem!reader
Warnings: mentions of torture
Word count: 1,602
Summary: To join the rebellion or not?
Authors Note: My first Finnick imagine and I’m really proud of this one.
Side Note: today's my 22nd Birthday 🎂🥳

Hunger Games Masterlist

Tumblr media
“I hate that man.” Y/n stated as she and Finnick watched President Snow announce that the next Hunger Games will be a Quarter Quel. A game of Victors.
“Me too.” Finnick sighed rubbing his hands down his face. Like they haven’t been through enough going through all that the first time?
“I don’t want to go back in, Finnick.” Y/n’s voice broke as she looked to her husband. The games had left both of them with PTSD and nightmares, those never go away. And now there was a chance they could lose eachother.
Finnick got up and moved over the sit next to Y/n, pulling her into his side. Wrapping his arms around her, tight. He rested his chin on the top of her head. “I don’t either, sweetheart.”
“If you do get reaped again…” Y/n spoke pulling her away to look at him. She nodded needing to be able to look in his yes and know he really was promising her what she was asking of him. “Promise me you’ll fight.”
“You know I will. Especially for you.” Finnick stated looking her in the eyes, bringing her hair bacl. He’d always fight for her. No matter what.”You need to promise me the same.”
Y/n nodded giving him a watery smile. “I promise.”
Not even days later the Victor’sgoing back into the arena were chosen through those stupid little papers in the glass bowl. Much to Finnick's relief, Y/n had not been chosen, but Finnick was and Y/n’s heart dropped. Finnick had to reassure her that he would try to win for her.
Because the Capitol Loved Finnick and Y/n’s relationship Y/n was allowed to come with him. Once they got to the Capitol the questions were flooding everyone. When District 4’s chariot came back Y/n immediately put her attention on the horses as Finnick rounded the cart to wrap his arms around her.
“Who’s that?” Katniss asked nodding towards the District 4 chariot where she saw a girl and a Victor petting the horses.
Haymitch, Peeta, and Effie all glanced over in the direction Katniss was looking in before Haymitch answered. “Finnick Odair.”
“Whose the girl with him? She wasn’t in the chariot earlier.” Peeta asked his voice less tense and less guarded than Katniss’. He was honestly curious.
“We’ll talk and explain back at the suite.” Effie smiled at the young man and woman before her. Haymitch nodded in agreement so they all headed up the District 12 suite. They had all including Cena and a couple of other’s moved to sit around the living area talking about the other victors that’ll be in the arena as well.
“Now you both were asking about the young lady with him.” Cena brought up as Effie had, mentioned it to him earlier.
Katniss nodded. “Yeah. Who is she?”
“Well-” Haymitch went to start but got cut off.
“She was at the reaping for district 4.” Peeta added wanting to know why the girl victor that wasn’t chosen was in the Capitol with the two that were.
“Y/n y/l/n- Odair. Very sweet girl.” Cena answered smiling as he thought back on the times he’s interacted with the Y/h/c-ed girl.
“Very polite young lady but also has a fire in her.” Effie also smiled as she talked about the victor from District 4, having fond memories of the girl as well.
“She wasn’t chosen, so why’s she here?” Katniss shook her head wanting an actual answer. She couldn’t understand that if she wasn’t being forced to go back in the games why’d she come to the Capitol.
“Because of Miss Everdeen. Her and Finnick are together. Romantically.” Haymitch rolled his eyes at Katniss’ behavior and why she had to question everything. He like many others had a good relationship with Y/n. As much as Katniss was seeing her as a threat, she wasn’t one. Haymitch leaned forward to reach his glass he added and explained. “The Capitol like’s prying into the lives of its Victors. Finnick and Y/n are some of their favorite Victors and the fact that they are married and in love just makes them want to see more.”
Cena scooted forward on the couch looking to Katniss and Peeta. “Y/n won about 2 years after Finnick for District 4. He had mentored her of course, along with Mags. The two however had grown close and caught feelings for eachother. So when she won they could finally be together.”
Effie nodded in agreement. “They are the Capitol's favorite couple. Two victors from the same District in love.”
Haymitch scoffed at Effies comparison. “Snow uses them against eachother, for his own personal gain. She’s here so he can control Finnick and to play their love to the Capitol.”
It didn’t surprise anyone that Snow would do that. Peeta and Katniss weren’t surprised that they weren’t the First couple Snow has tried to control either.
“He seemed really protective of her.” Katniss noted leaning back into the couch.
Cena nodded before stating. “He is. And she’s the same way about him.”
Peeta glanced to Katniss. “They would make great allies.”
“But’s she’s not even going to be in the arena.” She nodded but did have to point, even though she agreed Y/n wasn’t going to be in the games so she can’t really be an ally.
“No, she won’t be. But she’d still make a powerful one.” Haymitch stated looking to Cena and Effie with a knowing look.
^     ^     ^
“So… We gonna join them?” Y/n asked as she joined Finnick on the bed, getting under the covers.
Finnick nodded as he reached out to pull her to him. “I was thinking about it. You?”
Y/n nodded moving to straddle his lap. “I’d like to.”
“But?” he asked as he wrapped his arms around her waist, looking at her.
“But what if it backfires? Snow already threatens us so like- what do we have to lose? But at the same time, he does already threaten us.” Y/n told him. He wanted her to so she did. It felt like a trapped situation, joining them.
“I know. It’s what's holding me back on joining them as well.” Finnick agreed, rubbing his thumbs in a circular motion against her skin.
“If it works, we’d be free.” Y/n added.
Finnick nodded knowing it was true but there still wasn’t a smile on his face. “I don’t want to risk your life or safety by doing this though.”
Y/n nodded in agreement to his worries so she suggested. “Maybe we could talk to Haymitch and see if there’s a way I could leave with them. Then I wouldn’t be here in the Capitol when Snow realizes what's happening.”
Yeah. We’ll see.” With that, he pulled her to lay down fully so they could get some sleep before tomorrow.
^     ^     ^
“So?” Finnick raised his brows waiting for a reply. The reply that would decide if they joined the rebellion or not.
“I don’t see why not.” Haymitch nodded. Two more people were on board with the rebellion and he could understand Finnicks nerves about if they joined what could happen to Y/n. And Haymitch didn’t want to see anything happen to Y/n either.
“It’ll be last minute. We’ll all have to be fast. We can’t waste a single second.” Plutarch Havensbee added after Haymitch. He two was glad they could possibly be getting the Odairs to join them. They’d be good allies and assets to the rebellion.
“I understand.’ Y/n nodded knowing the risks he wasn’t saying but implying.
“Wait a minute here-” Finnick raised his none occupied hand, not liking what the game maker was implying. Not at all.
“Finnick” Y/n went to start, to try and calm his worried mind but Finnick wasn’t going to have it. Not when her life could be at stake.
“No.” Finnick gave Y/n a look and she knew that there was no stopping him. “Your saying there’s a chance she could be left here? For Snow to torture when he finds out whats happened.”
“We’re saying there’s a chance yes. But we are not gonna let that happen if we can help it.” Haymitch raised his hands to show they weren’t being malice. They were just saying it was a possibility. “Finnick. I’ll make sure that Y/n is by my side and on the transport out of the Capitol.”
Y/n could see Finnick was still alittle stressed so she squeezed his hand that was in hers.
“Hey, listen to me.” Y/n spoke softly urging him to look at her. “I’m willing to risk it.”
Finnick shook his head. “I’m not going to let you risk your life-”
“Why not? I’m letting you risk yours. In more ways than one.” Y/n cut him off. As mich ad he would want to fight her on this, she had a point and he knew it.
“That’s different.” Finnick tilted his head. She played dirty with that one.
“Maybe. Maybe it is but it’s also the same. An you know it.” She nodded, giving him a pointed look. They had a whole conclusion with their eyes. They knew what they needed to do.
“Fine. If you want to risk it, I’ll risk it too.” Finnick turned to look at Haymitch and Plutarch before glancing back to Y/n. She nodded silently in agreement. It was the right thing to do.
Plutarch smiled along with Haymitch and clapped his hands. “Great. Welcome to the rebellion.”

alexa's note: sorry! this took waaaay to long but this is basically a rewritten version of my story "winter shenanigans". i just changed the title bcs i think it's better(?) haha idk i just feel like i need to change it. i wanted to rewrite this bc i feel like i can give it more improvements and make it better than the first version (i hope so) i hope u like it!
a bit of a disclaimer: i never experienced winter, so i'll just write everything what i feel or think about winter and what others do when winter comes. (but i do want to experience it!)
Tumblr media
Winter isn't a season you're really not fond of unlike the others. Going out just to flash your new purchased glamorous parka and wasting several dollars for an overpriced hot coffee isn't in your bucket list. Winter doesn't bring you fun playing with snow, making those snowballs and having some snow fights with your loved ones. Walking around the street and feeling the freezing cold air wash your face as you look at everyone who seems to love it. Winter isn't your most loved season especially when the memories it brings you were the ones you really want to forget and leave from the past.
So instead of doing those things people love to do when winter comes, you'll just dwell in the confines of your home, watching those old Netflix series you love watching so many times to the point you memorize every characters' lines. Room heater on and a cup of ramen resting on your hands.
Amidst the season, you and your roommate Lexi always plan on going grocery shopping, agreeing on a day where both of you are free of schedule. The task is dreadful when you try to keep up with the people who seem to love hoarding the supermarket before the season starts. As if they'll run out of everything "they need" during the winter. So grocery shopping is best when you think most of the people were literally out everywhere but the supermarket.
But now, you feel like you are slowly draining out of energy as you look at your roommate while she puts her things inside her big ass luggage bag, a gift from her mother whom she'll be staying with until God knows when.
"Text me please when you arrive, hm?" You said with a small voice, not showing Lexi your soured expression but knowing completely you failed.
Lexi is like your sister, living with her ever since you started college. So it's really disheartening to know she'll be out of your shared apartment in a few hours.
The reason is important, and you completely understand it. She needs to go home, but it doesn't get rid of the fact that you'll be away from her, and will make you alone, emotionally and physically. You were never the one to make friends at all, scared to talk to people but managed to befriend some, and Lexi is one of them. Having the same interest and vibes, being able to understand each other are some of the reasons your friendship was built.
"Of course lovely, I will. I know how much you'll miss me. And I'll miss you too." Lexi cocked her brows, giving you a lopsided smile.
"I really hope you can come back soon. But I think I'll be graduating alone if it happens again." You said. There you are again, you know you sound a bit selfish now, having abandonment issues ever since you were a kid fucks you up real hard, struggling to accept that people really do come and go. You just don't want everything that happened before to happen again.
But you were so aware that it will not happen with Lexi's case. You were just starting to miss the dynamics you used to have while living with her.
Lexi sighed as she tried to brighten up her smile. You can see that she too, was trying hard to be strong. Going back to her hometown to take care of her ill mother, leaving her one and only best friend from the city and moving to another college is harder than she thought.
"I hope so too. I hope mom will get better so I can just go back here and not transfer to a different university anymore. But I am not sure what's about to happen. But I am really hoping I can come back real soon." She admitted, finally closing the bag she was preparing.
"And y/n, I know how much struggle you feel when it comes to meeting new people. You don't have to force yourself to talk to everyone. But please, don't dwell on being alone, my love. There are lots of people who badly want to befriend you. You're such a sweet girl. I know you prefer being by yourself, but I can see clearly you're happier whenever someone talks to you." she rebuked, Lexi knows you like the back of her hand, notices even the things you never knew you were doing.
"I-I don't think so." You muttered. You sure weren't confident enough to face a conversation with a person you knew you were talking to several times, let alone a complete stranger you never once talked to. One reason you never went to those acquaintance parties Lexi invited you everytime she went.
You heard your friend click her tongue, making you turn your gaze to her. You sighed as you were met by one of her signature looks, always giving you those whenever she's disagreeing with something you just said.
"O-okay, fine. I don't promise but I'll try, because I don't like to miss you so much like I do now." You scoffed, making her let out light chuckles.
"That's my girl. To think that winter is coming, I want you to find someone you can spend those dreadful times with whenever the season is here." She snarked.
"Nah, will just spend my days here wrapped like a burrito while watching Squid Game." You remarked, Lexi looking at you dirtily.
"Girl, don't tell me you're gonna watch it for the fifth time?" Lexi questioned and you just nod proudly.
"Of course, I will. No one's gonna stop me." You said while your friend just let out a sigh, giving up at your antics.
"Okay whatever. Anyway, Mrs. Yang told me someone already got my space." Lexi announced, making your ears perked up at her news. You weren't against new roommates, you know yourself you can't afford to pay the whole rent and you need someone to share it with. But you didn't expect it to be this soon, you weren't prepared to entertain a new roommate!
"Wait, what? This soon??" You questioned and she just nodded.
"Yep! Don't have any idea who it was but Mrs. Yang told me they're studying in the same university." Lexi exclaimed as if she was the one who will live with the new roommate. On the other hand, dreadfulness starts seeping in you just by thinking of the prospect of having a new roommate. The idea of living with a stranger, and having no idea what will be your relationship with them in the future, starts to eat your mind. But despite that, you didn't show Lexi your weariness, instead giving her some neutral reaction even if your introvertedness is already screaming.
Tumblr media
A week has passed and you still haven't met the said new roommate. You didn't even bump into Mrs. Yang, which you think is much better because you didn't have any idea how to grasp some update about your new roommate. "I just want to ask when will my new roommate arrive so I can at least clean the apartment."  "May I ask who my new roommate is? Lexi told me you told her they're attending the same university as me." Questions keep on popping on your mind but in the end, you were glad you never bumped into her and just cleaned the whole apartment in case your new roommate will arrive.
School break was about to start. You were more than relieved to know you completed all the work and backlogs even before the break starts. You may hate the winter, but you'd rather make yourself busy with something else than dealing with your activities or any school related work.
After having a small talk with Felix, you bid yourselves goodbye and started to walk on your way home.
Felix is a blockmate and one of the people you prefer talking with whenever Lexi isn't around. You grew accustomed to him when right after your first activity as partners, he still approached you like you've known each other for a while now, clearly wanting to befriend you. Not wanting to look like a bitch, you just let him be, also because of his bubbly persona. Like Lexi, Felix is the person next to being comfortable. You like the energy he's emanating whenever he's around.
You were solemnly staring at the window of the bus when you felt your phone buzzing against your pants pocket.
from: Mrs. Yang (YW APT.)
hi dear, just a heads up. your new roommate might arrive later or tomorrow evening. just want to remind you so you can prepare his space. have a nice day dear!
to: Mrs. Yang (YW APT.)
thank u for informing me, Mrs. Yang. have a nice day too!
You don't think you were ready enough knowing that your roommate is a guy. You don't have any problems with guys. It's just you feel awkward most of the time when you talk to the opposite sex. But you realized it doesn't worry you unlike the first time you knew about having a new roommate. Thinking about what Lexi has said, maybe it's not that bad to have new friends, besides her, well, also Felix (you consider him as one from now on.)
Tumblr media
The said roommate arrived the next day. With his luggage bag and some boxes, he strived to bring them altogether inside even if you offer him a small help by pulling his luggage (you tried to make a good impression of yourself even if you're already feeling awkward as hell)
In the end, he let you pull his luggage when one of the boxes he carried totter from his hold, chuckling awkwardly when it finally fell. Talk about people and their eagerness to bring all of their things at once.
You tried not to sound and look awkward as you showed him the whole apartment, and finally his own space, his bedroom. You did everything you need to do to make it look presentable and clean. You don't have any idea if your new roommate is a clean freak, so you did it just to make things sure. You don't want to have a complaining roommate after seeing their room covered in dust and dirt.
"This is nice. I have never seen a room this clean. Or is it because my old roommate is not that of a clean freak." He said, chuckling. You must admit, his laughs are angelic. You never heard a guy laugh that cute. Or maybe because you never tried to make a guy laugh ever. Well Felix, is a different one, guy is scary when he laughs. Felix is the only one you can use to compare with the other guys. It was like, he is your standard of guys as you've never been with others before.
"Uh, yeah. I did clean it well. I don't want my new roommate to see his new room dirty." You said, showing a sheepish smile, hoping you won't look like an idiot to him.
"Nah, it's good. I am happy to know you gave your efforts in cleaning my new room. And as I can see, I think I won't have any problems with dealing with trash. Though I am not that sensitive to it, but, isn't it better to see your place neat? It makes you feel relaxed." He grinned.
Something about him appeases you, the way he is talking to you, it was comforting. As if you guys were already friends. He looks friendly and harmless, someone you can easily approach whenever you're having concerns.
But then again, you tell yourself that typical phrase whenever you meet someone. "looks can be deceiving". Most people tend to act politely whenever they meet with someone unfamiliar. But either way, you'll try your best to have those decent talks with your new roommate.
You don't even know each others' names yet.
"Uhm...Anyways, I'm Y/n! I hope you'll have fun staying here from now on..." You mumbled the last words, encouraging him to continue it by telling his name.
So he flashed you a smile and replied.
"Chan, Bang Chan, or Chris, whichever you like, but Chan is good, though.. I'm certain I will enjoy having you as my roommate, Y/n. And uuh, thank you again for cleaning this for me. I hope pulling my luggage bag inside didn't bother you. I'm sorry again for the small accident earlier, I just want to bring everything inside at once. A habit, yeah?" He chuckled, recalling his habit that led into a small accident at the front door earlier.
"No worries. Doesn't bother me that much.." You admitted. You feel like the atmosphere was slowly getting awkward, the smile on your face is unfortunately faltering. Wanting to not embarrass yourself furthermore, you tried to change the topic, letting him have his own time as he fixed his things.
"Uh, I would like to excuse myself now if you don't mind, so you can fix your things, it's getting a bit late now. So you can also rest." You said, checking the wall clock hanging just beside his bedroom door. The clock reads 10:20 pm and you're feeling a bit sleepy now. Chan just nods, and flashes you a friendly smile.
"Oh yeah, sure! Sorry to delay your sleep, but I'll be good. I'll just fix these tomorrow morning. Good night, y/n."
"Good night, Chan."
Winter has finally started. Just like usual, you were met by lots of people who seemed to enjoy the little droplets of snow that are starting to fall. And good thing your worn out parka (a gift from Lexi almost three years ago) is still holding on, the zipper was already broken yet you were too lazy to get it fixed. Parkas are expensive as hell and you'd rather stick with this one, especially when you're not going out frequently when the season is here.
Grocery shopping went on smoothly, but this time you were alone. Almost three weeks had passed since Lexi left the apartment yet you still feel the longing for your friend, thinking that it won't get rid that easily especially when she's the only person you do this with and many other domestic things you can think of.
You feel all your limbs starting to give out when the view of your apartment door reaches your sight. Walking home from the supermarket is a fun thing to do, but you realized it was only fun when you have a company, specifically Lexi. Having someone help you bring the other bags. It was exhausting, but at least you came home with your complete limbs.
You opened the door softly, you felt like breaking into your own apartment when in fact, you just wanted to see if Chan was in. Almost two weeks of living with him and you still feel shy when he is around. You tried your best to not look awkward whenever you talk, because the last thing you ever wanted was to make him think he's making you uncomfortable when in fact it's not.
Chan is a nice roommate. An organized one, you might add. So far, he never did anything to make you a bit distant to him, you were just shy, and the fact that you do find him attractive just adds to the predicament you were feeling. How can you engage with a long conversation when the first thing you always do is stare at his face? He might think you're weird if ever he noticed that action of yours.
You will pass by Chan's room whenever you go to the kitchen, so when you tried to grab some bottled water for yourself, you heard someone talking, surmising it was Chan. Maybe he's talking to someone as you hear other unfamiliar voices. You didn't mean to eavesdrop, but how can you not when you just heard your name in between the conversation?
"I just don't think we can do that now, I moved just two weeks ago, I don't want y/n to be uncomfortable"
"She's my roommate. And I still don't know if it's okay for her if I invite you guys over. Even if I am basically paying the rent too. But I don't want to scare the girl with two other guys she 7barely knew, walking around her house. We're not even that close yet."
Something about Chan talking about you makes you want to hear more. Even if you tried your best to stop, since listening to others' conversation isn't morally right.
"Hmm? Yeah..? She's pretty though, but a bit shy. I don't know why, I want to talk to her more but I feel like she doesn't even want to be near me, yikes." You heard him chuckle. And that's how you stumbled on your feet and almost knocked the big ass vase beside his door.
Nice, just a nice way to expose yourself.
You heard him finish the call as you tried to compose yourself, making sure you didn't look like you were just literally beside his door, listening to his conversation with his friends.
Him calling you cute confused you, you don't have any idea what you did or what you have for him to call you cute. On the other hand, it made you feel ecstatic as if you just won a competition. A person you just find attractive admits that he finds you attractive too, how can you not hyperventilate by it?
Your eyes widen when you heard the doorknob shuffle, your time to run to the kitchen as if nothing happened just ran out before you even try and now you were met by a flabbergasted Chan, because he never expected you to be there, he just literally thought that the sound came from elsewhere and he's curious to check it.
"Oh, hi Y/n. Didn't know you already arrived. Uhm... How may I help you?" Chan's voice seems to ebb away as your eyes start to focus somewhere else, preferably his exposed arms, he was wearing this shirt that was made into a sleeveless one, his arm muscles tensed when he rested his arm on the doorframe, it's like he's literally giving you the honor to check him out. But it's not, of course. He's toned, and even if this is the first time you saw him showing a bit more skin, you knew that he's the type of guy who spends his time at the gym.
Exactly your type.
You were just fished out of your "checking my roommate out" by Chan's voice calling your name, worry etched on his annoying attractive face.
"Is there a problem? Was it the noise I heard a while ago?" He asked and you tried your best to gather yourself up before flashing him a smile. Putting an end to "making yourself embarrassed in front of Chan" again.
"Ah no.. I mean, yeah. I just arrived. Uh, actually I just passed by your room then I almost knocked the vase, sorry if that disturbed you." You said, biting the inside of your cheek. God, you think this the most awkward time you ever had with Chan.
"Are you okay?" He said and took a look at you before looking at the vase that just sits perfectly as if nothing happened. The vase was heavy, and you were more than bemused as to why it made so much noise when you accidentally hit it with your feet.
"Oh yeah, yeah! I'm good. Just a bit clumsy." You assured and gave him a small smile. You were stuck in silence when Chan spoke again.
"Uh, may I ask you something?" Chan started, while you looked at him, urging him to continue.
"Uhm, I know I just moved in here a few weeks ago, but I do want to ask if I can bring my friends here? Like, we really need to finish this project of ours and I am the only one who has the most needed equipment and we need to use it. Uh, I promise we won't make so much noise! Uh, I'll tell the--" Chan stopped his blabbering when you suddenly let out a giggle.
"Of course. You can invite them over, I really don't mind. After all, this is also your house." You said. Realizing this is his issue since earlier while talking to his friends. You really don't mind at all. Lexi also did invite some of her other friends here before, sometimes inviting you over which you gladly did, but most of the time you stay in your room. You can do it with Chan. After all, he has his share of paying everything in this apartment. So he can do whatever he pleases, you just hope he's a bit mindful of his surroundings.
"Oh yeah right, thank you though. Uhm.. Do you have some rules, like things you don't like whenever others come in here? You know what I'm saying?" He questioned and you got it right away. He's really considerate. What a gentleman. Makes you want to just jump at him and kiss his pretty lips.
Oh, that's too much.
He's your roommate, for god's sake.
"Uhm.. Just try not to make too much mess? I'm fine with everything really. Just, that." You shrugged, while he gave you a thumbs up.
"Copy. I assure you, you'll never have a problem with us." Chan grinned. You were slowly running out of ideas to say so you tried to excuse yourself from him, which he gladly let you do so. Too much happened from that short conversation, you think. Him calling you cute, him wanting to talk to you but you were so shy he doesn't know what to do, him almost catching you eavesdropping on him and his friends, you checking him out. You just hoped that he was gullible enough to not notice your lingering stares on his arms, to not make yourself embarrassed. Too much for you, eh?
Can you really keep up with your attractive roommate?
The day Chan's friends decided to come over was just as peaceful as you want it to be. Except his other friend, Jisung if you weren't mistaken, has been the noise provider in the once peaceful apartment, together with Chan's other friend, Changbin.
Chan apologizes over and over again for his friends' enthusiasm, things that you really don't mind at all.
And as promised, Chan and his friends stayed inside his room to work on their project. You just knew he's a music major, and it was dead obvious as you always hear him play different tunes, some music that's pleasant to the ears, you even had a favorite one, the one he was playing last night, the same music they're currently working on.
Chan just casually playing those music for free, makes you wonder how he looks whenever he works over something. Is he the serious leader type? Is he the one to goof around but does work well? Or is he the quiet one while working but then surprises you with his amazing ideas.
Whatever it may be, it still makes your heart pound as if you just ran a mile. But why is that? Just thinking about him makes your mind go haywire, are you having a crush on your roommate?
It's incredulous, isn't it?
"I just thought about it but, do you know someone named Lee Felix?" Jisung asked you as he munched his pizza. After working, Chan had invited you to eat pizza with them, ordered right after they finished work. At first you were hesitant, since you weren't really that close, and you really don't have any idea how to open a conversation with them. But the persistence his friends have was indelible, so you just gave in and joined them, and good thing their chattiness saved your sorry ass. Chan was also talkative, one thing you didn't expect. Maybe because he's around his friends. But he's not like the other two, they seem like they have endless topics brought with them.
"Hm, yeah. He's my classmate, why?" You replied, his mouth making an "O" shape as if he realized something.
"I knew it. That's why you look familiar! You were always with Felix after his classes. You may not see me but I always see you with him." He mused,
"Oh wait, that sounded creepy. But yeah, I saw someone with him, and I realized it was you." he continued. You tried to recall all the times you were with Felix and bump into someone he knew, but you don't remember a thing. Maybe because you were busy thinking what activity you'll do next or what will Lexi cook for dinner.
"Oh well, sorry for not remembering a thing, but are you related to him? Like, friends?" You questioned and Jisung nodded his head in response, pointing at Chan who was walking out of the kitchen, his mouth full of pizza and his hands holding a bottle of water. Like a deer caught in headlights, you chuckled at his astounded look.
"What? Why're you pointing at me?" Chan raised his eyebrows at Jisung who was unfazed by his friend's dirty look.
"Felix is Chan's cousin. They basically lived together in Australia when they were kids. I wonder why Felix never told you about Chan. You guys just met when Chan moved in here right?" Changbin said and pointed at the two of you, you nod in response.
Changbin was right, you didn't know but you felt a bit betrayed by Felix. He was also as talkative as the three, but never mentioned about his hot cousin to you. But what was the reason in the first place? Why does Felix need to mention his cousin to you?
But you just brushed it off, after all, Chan is already your roommate.
Maybe you can ask Felix about his cousin's ideal type, maybe you can learn a thing or two.
And asking Felix wasn't the best resort at all. It wasn't an option, per se. Your two eyes can see obviously what he likes in everything. Man, you live with the guy. You can literally learn a thing or two, if you were heedful of your surroundings.
Eventually, you become comfortable with Chan, as he is to you. One question and one answer now led into breathy laughs in between long conversations. One asked about their day, and eventually it turned into long talks. You were ecstatic about the progress of your roommate relationship with Chan, and when you say progress, your feelings also go with the flow.
You finally admitted that you have a crush on your roommate, it was very obvious that Chan is likeable. Aside from Felix, he's the nicest guy you've ever met, his attitude from the very first time you guys met never changed, and you appreciate it.
You were busy cleaning your room when you heard some soft knocks against your door. You were shocked to see Chan peeking from the outside, wanting to call your attention.
"Hey, Chan. Is there anything I can help you with?" You said as you placed your freshly washed clothes on your bed. He seemed to hesitate answering so you beckon him to go in, as he did eventually.
"Are you busy?" He asked, eyeing those clothes placed on your bed.
"Oh, not really. Will just place these clothes in the cabinet and I'm done. Why?" You asked him. You didn't know if you were just seeing things or his cheeks flushed a bit red before speaking.
"Uhm. I cooked some pancakes and made some hot chocolates for snacks. It's getting a bit cold here and I'm hungry. If you want I can bring you some here." Chan mused. A bashful smile painted on his face. You were speechless for a moment before you gave him a nod.
"Oh! That's very nice of you. But we can just eat it together in the kitchen." You replied.
"Really? I can just bring you some here while you finish what you were doing. Or I can just leave some for you." He insisted but you just shook your head.
"Nah, I'm fine. I can finish this later. It's very impolite of me if I'll do that. And besides, I do feel hungry now that you mentioned pancakes and hot chocolate." You giggled. Chan let out a sigh of relief and invited you to go with him in the kitchen which you gladly did, leaving all the clothes unattendedly and all the other things you need to do. Chan invited me to eat with him, organizing my things can wait.
No wonder you heard some shuffling in the kitchen a while ago, it was just him trying to cook some food. It surprised you that Chan can cook, since he's always busy. Either in his room or out with his friends, telling you that he'll just eat outside or finish his work that you'll never know if he's already done since you always hear him in his room, but it's all fine.
Maybe he's just a man who is passionate about his work.
After minutes of arguing that you'll just get your own food, you sat down on the chair as Chan prepared both your and his food, telling you that he was the one who invited you.
Looking at him, his broad back facing you, his shoulders tensing as he continues to move around, made you feel those weird feelings inside your stomach. It may be bizarre, but it felt good, just right.
Imagining him as the caring boyfriend who takes good care of you, cooking you food whenever he wants to, surprising you every morning with those butterfly kisses around your face. Just the perfect relationship every person wishes to have.
While you make your own world of fantasies, the boy who was the subject of it was staring at you weirdly. Hiding the smile on his face as he looked at your flabbergasted one when he called again your attention, the look on your face as if you were caught doing something illegal made him giggle, but he tried to hide it.
"Thinking of something?" He questioned, a smile now visible on his face. You tried to focus your attention on him once again, shaking away all of the thoughts of him from your mind before answering.
"Uuh, just thinking what will these pancakes taste like, also the hot chocolate." You replied, he scoffed jokingly as he placed your plate of pancakes, drizzled with maple syrup and whipped cream on top.
"And now you're acting like some masterchef judge, or aren't you Gordon Ramsay's daughter?" he joked.
"Hmm, what if I am?" You remarked. He just shrugged and let out a giggle, his dimples apparent on his face, making him look more cute and soft.
Aah, can you not act cute, just for once?
"Hmm. I guess I'm honored and nervous at the same time, have a taste then, Ms. so-called daughter of Gordon Ramsay." He mused.
You happily indulged yourself with the still warm pancakes, humming as the mix of its softness and the sweet taste of maple syrup excites your taste buds, immediately giving a thumbs up to Chan. He flashed you a wide grin before eating some of his own.
"Didn't know you cook this good, Channie." You blurt out, not realizing that you called him in a different way, you were busy delving in his pancakes.
"Not you doubting my cooking skills." Chan replied. Little did you know, Chan was having a little heart attack from the new nickname you gave him out of the blue, yet you still haven't realized it.
"And, I didn't know I had a new nickname now." Chan mused and let out a chuckle. Confused, your eyebrows furrowed until seconds later you realized what you just said a while ago.
"Never heard someone call me that, even my friends." He admitted. Even his close friends never called him that. And he's glad that someone like you managed to get him a nickname, one thing that he'll never mind at all, especially if it's only you.
"Uh-- okay. I didn't realize it. Sorry" You mumbled, but Chan still managed to hear it.
"No worries, Channie is cute though. I love it." Your eyes widen as you bring your gaze back to him, while his smile  never falters. It's true, Chan loves it. In fact, he wishes you'll just call him by it everyday. It felt like an addition to his energy.
"Uh, d'you like the hot chocolate?" Chan changed the topic before he felt the silence envelop you.
You did taste the hot chocolate and it was good, the warmth of the drink seeped into you, making you relax. Winter was still ongoing and you're glad that besides ramen and tea, you found yourself a different way of relaxing and making you warm during the season. One point for making a hot chocolate for a cold season.
"Yep! It was so good! So sweet, I love it. Actually I tried making this but I failed big time, I added too much cocoa, it was bitter." You giggled, remembering the first time you tried doing a hot chocolate, Lexi almost barf making you realize you shouldn't make a hot chocolate drink by yourself.
Chan snorted, trying to contain his laugh when he saw you glaring at him.
"Good thing I can make one. I can be your savior," He said, his eyebrows moving up and down.
"If you insist, actually your hot chocolate is my new favorite now." You confessed. Chan is like hot chocolate, warm, and sweet. He feels homely because of his warm and sweet nature. No wonder you felt comfortable around him in no time. He never once made you feel ill at ease. A pure green flag. That is Chan to you.

Felix went to your apartment several times in the past, but most of it was for school purposes. Activities wherein you were partners, but most of the time he just wants to do it with you, for the sake of copying some of your answers which you don't mind.
But the reason why he is at your apartment today is unusual. And it is the first time he has hung out with you in winter. Weird it may be, but it just happened that way. Lexi and Felix knew each other of course because of the seldom visiting in the past, but not as close as you with being friends with the both of them.
When Felix knew that your new roommate is his cousin, he immediately messaged you saying he'll visit one of these days. It was a long time ago but the free time he only has is now, due to his part time job at the restaurant near his apartment.
There is a fat chance of the cousins meeting at the apartment, but now isn't. Chan went out early to go to his friend's place. And that's the time Felix finally told you that he'll come over.
And here you are, in the kitchen while Felix let you make a room of chaos by helping him make brownies, but sooner he just made you sit and told to watch him. One thing that you agreed on since baking isn't really your thing.
You were too immersed with your phone when you suddenly heard Felix greet someone.
"Hey! You're back!" Your head immediately turned to Chan who looked flabbergasted seeing his cousin being busy in his kitchen.
He then turned his gaze to you, then threw a smile at your direction which you immediately reciprocated.
"You're early…?" You questioned. Chan told you that he will stay at his friend's place for a few hours since they were planning to make a new song, so you assumed he'll be back at night, and it is still afternoon.
"Hmm. Jisung's mom called him for help, so we just finished it there, then we'll continue for some time. It's really not that necessary to finish the song." Chan replied. You were about to speak when you remembered you had another person inside your home.
"What does it feel like when someone replies to your greeting, yeah? 'Oh hello Felix! How are you? It's been a long time? Are you having fun here with Y/n?' Something like that, no?" Felix scoffed, his eyes rolling when Chan giggled.
Chan went to give his cousin a light bump on his shoulders, apologizing for not greeting him back.
"Sorry dude, I mean, we just saw each other a few days ago." Chan bantered but Felix replied with a raise of a brow.
"Okay. I'll just let it pass, who wouldn't be distracted when you saw y/n first, right?" He quipped, flashing a smirk directed at Chan who was failing to keep a smile. In the end, he just smacked his cousin's arm again. Feeling himself shrinking at the lowkey showing of adoration for y/n.
Chan knew his roommate was pretty, in and out. He has been harboring appreciation for the girl. Even at that point his friends were pushing him to ask you for a date. But he never did. For him, it was too early to ask you. Living together with you is just as right as rain. Getting to know you, see you, and have more time with you is more than enough for him.
Chan left to go to his room after exchanging a few banters with Felix. And finally, the brownies were already done. So you took all of the baked brownies with you and went to the living room, with Felix hot on your trail, a tub of ice cream on his arm.
"Excuse me, Miss y/n, don't finish all of the brownies please." Felix protested when he saw you continuously eating the bite size brownies, worried that you might finish it all.
It was a minute's worth of fussing over brownies. Of course you were never the greedy one, you just wanted to tease Felix, you ate several pieces, then gave the plate to him, you grabbed some for Chan, but you don't have any idea when he'll come out of his room so you just set aside his brownies.
And the big fat silence took you over. Save for Felix's music playing through his phone. You don't feel like watching tv, and neither do he. You were having fun with your brownies when Felix once again executed his talent: asking questions out of the blue.
"Hey, I wanted to know what you think about my cousin?" You snorted as soon as you heard his question. When he does look serious with his question, and it seems like he is really waiting for an answer, you replied.
"Huh? As a roommate?" You asked. Felix cocked his eyebrow at you, as if silently judging you.
He wasn't clear with his question per se.
"Of… course. Why? You wanna tell me what you think of him as a guy?" And now Felix's face morphed into something akin to ludicrous.
"You weren't clear with the question, oh please." You cried. With the way you were acting and Felix being the best tormenter ever, you can envision yourself telling Felix what you feel about his cousin.
"Oh-kay! Fine. What do you think of him as a roommate?" Felix asked again.
"Okay, I think he's the best roommate I ever had. Very clean, he never leaves a place that contains his mess--" You were speaking when Felix suddenly interrupted your commentary.
"Wait, more than Lexi?" Felix remarked. You know he was just teasing you, Felix knows how much you love Lexi and you were just overstating because it was Chan.
"What?? Of course not! I mean, I have the same feelings for them as a roommate. Maybe I just like the thought of Chan being a good guy who respects others, like his roommate. Besides you, I never interacted so much with guys, but if it's Chan, I think it's okay. I am so comfortable with him, and he's too much of a… gentleman." You remembered the time when you walked in to Chan being shirtless in the kitchen. You don't remember how many times he said sorry for not wearing a shirt. You were just shocked, oh Lord. He's just too sexy to look at. He might think of you as a creep.
Him saying sorry for being comfortable is so dreadful.
Even if you told him too many times that night that it was okay, he still wore a shirt the next day. And that made you feel bad. That time you reminded yourself not to freak out by seeing a guy flashing his half naked body.
But how can you do that? Knowing that it was him was rendering you speechless.
"Uhm.. earth to y/n?" Felix snapped his fingers in front of you, making you go back to your trance. Stop thinking about him. Do it like it was easy, huh.
"Oh.. sorry." You chuckled awkwardly, you felt like you were getting smaller. Even though you won't tell him, Felix noticed that you were off the wall when you started talking about Chan.
"Do you like my cousin?" Again, you were knocked senseless by his question.
Are you really getting questioned by Felix? By your roommate's cousin? In your own apartment? With your roommate in question, which is currently present here?
"W-what? Why are you asking me that?" You chuckled awkwardly, you felt like your mind had gone blank by the sudden questioning. You weren't even sure if you really like, as in like Chan. You just knew you found him attractive.
"Chan has been a nice person ever since, but there's something with the way you talk about him." He said, as if he's that certain with his assumption.
"Maybe because he's just being a gentleman, and I appreciate that, that's it." You replied shortly. Maybe you were really just admiring his personality. You deemed guys being the not gentleman type, except Felix. Many of your female acquaintances told you stories about guys who were being a pain in the ass and just plain rude. And maybe that's one of the reasons why you abstain yourself from talking to other guys, second is just you were a major awkward person.
Felix stared at you for a good minute before smiling and greeted Chan, who went out with his hair damp, maybe he just took a shower then decided to go out.
"Yo Chris, Y/n saved you some brownies, that's for being the best roommate." Felix sneered as you smack him playfully on his arm.
You turned your gaze to Chan and saw a small smile on his face which you immediately reciprocated.
Oh, a thought passed by your mind, did he hear you and Felix talking about him?
You wish he didn't.

A month has passed yet the winter season is still on the run. You were in the supermarket with Chan who just hopped in since he wanted to buy some of his basic necessities and foods he shares with you in the fridge.
You were checking your list when you felt an arm draped over your shoulder. Too stunned, you didn't turn your head right away, to see if it's really him. Because you can literally smell the familiar scent of his calming perfume. And one thing that you wanted to do right now is to just snuggle your face between his neck and sniff his scent, sounds creepy but that's what on your mind right now.
"How about this one, y/n? I think we can make kimchi jjigae for tonight? What do you think?" Chan asked you, turning your gaze sidewards to see his face. Even though you can literally hear your heartbeat loud.
Is it because of the proximity? Or solely because of Chan?
Trying not to sound and look awkward, you patted his hand softly, telling him that you were fine with it. You have no idea if you were just feeling things, but you felt his arms tensed when you pat it.
"Of course, but you'll cook okay? You were the one who's confident with their kimchi jjigae." You grinned. You weren't confident with what you, you were even shocked you managed to contain yourself while being that close with Chan.
Chan didn't even know where he got that confidence. He was panic-stricken when Y/n didn't look back at him, and he really felt how she frozed when he did that. But when Y/n patted his arm lightly, he knew that she was fine, and his heart was beating passionately he could hear it. But he acted cool, for the sake of his pride and unspoken feelings.
He remember the time where Felix asked Y/n if she likes him and heard her answer, he felt the world ground right below his feet. He knew that her answer probably meant no. She does appreciate him, and he knows that it isn't the same as like, that doesn't mean she likes him as him, and not the person she lives with.
Maybe acting like cool friends won't hurt. Oh, maybe a little, for him.
Going back to the apartment is not that complicated, you hailed a cab because riding a bus back home while bringing those grocery bags isn't the best idea at all.
Since Chan knew how to make kimchi jjigae better, he was working alone in the kitchen when Y/n suddenly appeared, shrouded herself with her usual comfortable shirt, her hair tied up in a bun. Something with the way she looks screams domesticity to Chan. A girlfriend watching her boyfriend cook their dinner. The thought alone made Chan smile. Being able to live with her as a roommate is more than enough.
Even if he knew they weren't feeling the same.
But why does he feel like she was staring right into his soul?
You were so amazed by seeing Chan work in the kitchen. He moves dexterously, as if he's really been doing this ever since. Just by looking at him, you can feel your heartbeat briskly again. Everytime you see Chan, there's this familiar feeling that grows as time passes by.
Do you still deny yourself for falling for Chan?
Truthfully speaking, as days passed by and the more you knew about your roommate, the more you slowly realized that you were indeed, in love with your roommate. This wasn't just simply a roommate appreciation feeling.
It was entirely the same as you expected.
"Okay Chan, I feel like you used to be a chef in your past life." You giggle as you once again slurp again the savory soup of the kimchi jjigae. Chan scoffed jokingly as he took a spoonful of rice from his food.
"Maybe I am. I do appreciate your kind words." Chan replied. You were finally done with dinner and it was such a nice one since whenever you eat with Chan, it was filled with fun and giggles here and there. There was no dull dinner with Chan.
There was a raging snowstorm as per the weather forecast and you were more than irked knowing that there will be lots of snow outside.
"I'll wash the dishes Channie. You go to the living room, I'll be in charge here." You said as you gathered the empty plates and pots. Putting it all on the kitchen sink, while you saw Chan open the fridge and grab a can of drink.
"Want some beer?" Chan asked as he showed you the can on his hand. It was the beers he bought from the grocery earlier.
"Out of the sudden?" You chuckled at him. It was unusual for Chan to drink beer on a random night. He once told you that he does drink whenever he's at parties. So why beer?
He then shrugged and flashed you a toothy smile.
"Oh, it does help me warm up. It's chilly here. I don't mind having beer, how about you?" Chan stated. It isn't weird, because beer does help you warm up on the inside, and you don't mind consuming one tonight, so you gave Chan a thumbs up before he nodded at you and went to the living room, with two bottles of beer in his hands.
You were never confident with your alcohol tolerance, every memory was shared with embarrassment, so as much as possible, you did drink responsibly. You want to have some time with Chan. You know you can always say no to him, but consuming a bottle won't hurt. Besides, it really does help you warm up.
"Isn't it weird if I drink beer on a winter night instead of coffee or hot chocolate?" Chan chuckled as he chugged on his beer. You knew how much Chan detest coffee, just like you with winter.
"Not really, I know how much you hate coffee, and we just ran out of hot chocolate. Actually, this is new, but I don't hate it. It's been a long time since I last drank beer. But I never expected it to be on a winter night though." You said making the boy laugh.
"But it is fun!" He countered.
"Yeah, yeah. I just hate that the time was winter. I hope spring comes soon. I hate this season anyway." You accidentally slipped your detestment for winter. You can see how his face morphed into confusion, the bottle sitting on his hand before asking.
"Huh? Why, though? Winter is great! How can you dislike winter?" Chan wondered. For him, winter is great for cuddling. He loves to warm himself up together with his loved ones. Winter is a great time for hot chocolate, too.
Winter is great and better especially when you're with someone who you care for. Giving the warmth that they deserve on a cold winter night.
"I just hate it. I don't know why people are so happy whenever winter comes. It's snowing hard yet they still enjoy it. Or is it just me, because I really hate playing in the snow?" You wondered, ever since you were a kid, you never understood the fun of playing in the snow. It was cold, and probably it'll make you sick.
"Nah, all I see, be it kids or adults, loves playing in the snow." Chan replied. You just smiled sadly as you realized you never once played in the snow ever since you were a kid. You just don't have someone to play with.
"Oh, maybe I was just being bitter." You chuckled as you played with your bottle. Ah, the memories of the past still haunt you big time.
Winter never did anything to you in the first place, it was just a season that passed by every year. It's just that, someone did taint them badly for you to hate it.
Chan suddenly felt the atmosphere shift into something different. He didn't know if it was because of the alcohol but he can feel that Y/n has something running into her mind right now. He never knew that she disliked the current season. He never knew that she's probably bringing something into her chest. There should be a reason, at least. But if she never wanted to talk about it, who is he to push her more?
But he just wanted to try his luck, maybe he can be a bit of help, even with just the little things.
He can see how much Y/n contemplates with herself.
"Hmm.. there must be a reason. Do you… want to share it?" Chan carefully asked and saw if Y/n would respond. He knows he's not yet drunk, save for his high tolerance, he can really listen and understand what Y/n would say.
He can be the good listener he always had been.
The thing that bugs you up to this day, whenever winter comes was never shared with anyone else, even Felix, and Lexi. Your father has always been taking care of you, showing you that he can be the best parent you need to have. Filling in the role of a person you love, but left you in spite of that.
"I trust you enough to tell this, Channie." You sighed and gave him a smile.
"The night is young, pretty, go ahead."
Your mom has been your role model ever since. Being the most caring mother that she is, always taking care of you and your older brother, Lucas. She always puts you and your brother first in everything before herself. The most selfless mother you've known.
Your parents had an "okay" relationship when they were together. Doing what every parent should do for their children. You were still a kid back then, so everything you saw made you think that your parents do love each other like every other parents you see from your friends.
Until one day, and it was the start of winter, right after you came back from the mall with your father, you saw your mom packing up her things, altogether with your brother's clothes. You were starting to wonder why, not until your father blurted out the words you never expected him to say. Because all you know is that they love each other.
"Go, leave us. I bet you are happy now, you feel free, yeah? Go ahead. I hope you'll be a good mother to that bastard's son. Why did I even marry a cheater?"
When you were a kid, the words that you only understood the words leave, good, and happy.
You never understood why your mother and brother have to leave you both. Is  there something wrong? Does your mother hate you? Do they hate living with you now? Why did they have to leave?
Does your mother still love you?
As you grow up, you finally understand all the reasons, your mind slowly opening up to the fact that not everyone's family was made to be perfect. Your father explained to you how your mother cheated on him when they were still together. Giving birth to your brother whom he thought was his real son. A thing that your mother kept until she got pregnant with you.
Your father was hurt so much by knowing that kind information, but he never regretted loving your brother. The fact that your mother managed to cheat and stayed with him while she's out there doing some kind of infidelity shattered his heart. He did anything to love your mother but all he ever received was pain.
Now that you knew it, it still made you hurt, remembering that cold winter night where your mother was nowhere to be found, you all alone in your small room crying. The experience was traumatic, but you slowly coped with it. But the hate for the season stayed, as well the memory of your mother leaving you.
"I never liked the coldness of the winter. It's because I remember how much I cried for my mother, because every winter, she used to stay with me until I fell asleep, together with my brother. Up until now, it still haunts me. So sorry for killing your joy whenever winter comes." You chuckled as you down the remaining beer from your bottle.
"You know, you never say sorry for your trauma. You didn't want that. No one likes to be left behind. And if hating winter does help you cope up, so be it. It was never a bother for me anyway. Don't be worried about it." Chan said and gave you a heartwarming smile.
That, that smile is what makes the past cold nights turn into weeks, then months of warmth and cozyness. There were no dull and cold nights whenever you're with Chan. In fact, having him here together with you is what makes you feel better on those cold nights. He never made you feel alone. And you were grateful for having him here with you.
And you were grateful for having those warm fuzzy feelings in your stomach that felt just right. Even if it makes your heart pound like crazy.
"You know.." you started, your eyes focused on the bottle in your hands. While Chan trained his eyes on your figure, waiting for you to continue.
"These past few months, I never felt this happy. I had my share of hate for the season, but I think it's okay now that you're here. So thank you." You said and you can literally feel your cheeks heat up, so you did your best not to lift your face. Not wanting to have any embarrassment happening.
You heard his small gasp and it made you smile. This was shocking for him, you can tell, but it's the truth.
"Uhm.. I don't think I did anything to make you feel better in this season, but I'm glad to know I did some kind of help. It means a lot to me, you know." Chan said and scratched the back of his neck, he can also feel his cheeks heating up. The weather was cold yet their cheeks felt hot at the very moment.
To be someone's comfort is relieving for Chan. Even if he doesn't know what kind of comfort he brings to Y/n, he's glad that she's been comfortable and open to him now. All he knows is that everyone has a struggle with something, and not everyone has the same problem every day. So we need to be kind to everyone.
A principle he had brought with him ever since he was a kid.
But now that Y/n opens up more about herself, he can't help but to be more caring for her. He just wanted her to be happy, just like how he has been ever since he met her.
"You know, I still have something to tell you. I don't know what will happen after but I wanted to tell you this." You started. And you already had warned yourself that you don't have any good relationship with alcohol, yet you still pursue this. There's something with drinking alcohol that makes you do something on a whim.
Is it called confidence?
Nah, you'll just see if you regret doing this tomorrow.
"Hm? What is it? Should I be worried?" Chan giggled. He was confused but at the same time, anxiousness bubbled up on his stomach. He was still sober, in truth, he never consumed all of the alcohol, too engrossed with Y/n.
That's what love is.
"Uhm… I… Whenever we're together, like this.. I can't help but feel this weird thing. I don't know if it's out of appreciation for your roommate or what. But I don't hate it. It feels good. And I don't want it gone. Is it a crush? love? or just pure appreciation?" You said and Chan clearly hears how obscure your feelings are. Yet, the feeling of excitement is more prominent than worry for your confused feelings. It's dangerous on his side, he knows, yet he can't help but to think that maybe you feel the same for him.
"Are… are you sure? Or is it because you're drunk, Y/n?" Chan asked as he checked on you. When you didn't answer, he stood from the couch across and sat beside you. He looked at you first, before trying to reach your hand, when he didn't feel any sign of hesitation, he slowly squeezed it, trying to make you look at him.
"Tell me, are you sure with what you're saying? Or you're just babbling words?" Chan said and he can feel the frustration in his voice. He didn't want to look and sound frustrated, but the hope in his heart pushed him to do so, he wanted to know if you feel the same or not. Heck, he wanted to kiss you right now, but he doesn't know if it's okay with you. Of course! Who would want to kiss their roommate even without having any romantic relationship?
"I may be drunk, Channie. But I tend to remember the things I say and do when I'm drunk." You muttered and stared at him. When he didn't answer, you continued speaking, telling him the most kept secret you feel about him.
"You know, I do believe that drunk minds speak sober thoughts, and don't worry, I don't feel like I'll regret doing this tomorrow, because I really wanted to tell you that I like you, heck, maybe I already love you, Channie." You finally said it, feeling those weird things happening inside you again. And the goddamn heartbeat that goes fast, whenever he's near with you.
You can see how his face lightens up at the moment, you were never sure about body language, but you felt like he does feel the same.
"Can… Can I kiss you?" Chan was hesitating to ask this, but now that you already told him what you feel, he tried his luck, and when you nodded your head and squeezed his hand. Not wanting to say any words, because you don't trust yourself enough now.
You can feel his face inching closer with yours, his warm breath that smells like the alcohol you just drank. His breath, his gaze, the proximity, and the situation makes you even more drunk. And your mind blanks as soon as you feel his lips plant on yours.
So this is how his lips felt like.
It was so soft, just how you always thought of it, it was like caressing your skin. The fact that your lips were chapped didn't make you conscious because all you were thinking is that, you felt those feelings again, but ten times stronger and it you were fully aware that it was Chan kissing you.
You can feel yourself slowly melting into the kiss. It was pure delight, and you must admit that you never felt this way before. Too grateful that you were feeling this way with Chan and not every other guy.
You can feel his hands moving to your nape, guiding your head carefully as he leaned in more, feeling his lips move oh so slowly as if he was afraid to break you.
Chan finally pulls out, his eyes still closed as he catches his breath, his cheeks dusted with a shade of pink.
His hands never let go of you, as he planted it on your cheeks, making you lean on his touch. You too, were speechless for a bit as you catch your breath, also making it as an excuse for what you just felt, still shy to admit that you were indeed in love with Chan, even though you just voiced it out a few minutes ago.
"So…" Chan started. He was still ecstatic by the fact that she reciprocates the same feelings. His mind went haywire when they finally shared an intimate moment together. A feeling that Chan only dreamt of, not expecting it to happen in real life.
It was like Y/n is a dream come true.
Chan's hand wrapped around yours once again, molding it with yours as if it was meant to be there. You shared a minute of staring at each other before Chan managed to speak.
"You don't have to worry, Channie. Didn't you know you're likeable? I bet every girls you met had a crush on you, but I am the one blessed, I guess." You chuckled. You were certain, with this attractive face and a beau ideal of a boyfriend, Chan had unconsciously made every girls at his beck and call.
"I'm so happy to know you feel that way, because honestly? I feel the same way for you. I was afraid I am the only one harboring feelings but here you are." He shrugged and plant a peck on your knuckles.
"So.. Does this mean we're dating now?" Chan said once he pulled out of the kiss, again running out of breath. There's something about feeling your lips against his makes him want to go more.
Maybe it was because of the alcohol, or pure adoration, or it can be both but you felt yourself leaning closer to Chan until you felt his lips against yours.
Someone like Chan was the person you ever wish to share a romantic relationship yet the one you didn't expect to come. He's too good to be true. But you love it, and you'll make sure not to let it out of your grasp.
"Come on, isn't it obvious?" You chuckled while he just shrugged and hugged you, making you surprised, but relaxed eventually. He's so warm, just like how you always thought about him.
"Okay, so are you in for an outdoor date tomorrow? I may love what we have here, but I wanted to go out and spend my time with you besides going to the grocery store." Chan said, making you chuckle. He's not wrong. You went out with him several times now, but it was all for the sake of groceries.
Having to spend time outside on a winter day with Chan? Nothing gets better than that.
"Of course. I would love to spend a day with you outside, on a winter day."

Read The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes over the holidays, and I need time to absorb the ending and maybe re-read several parts, but right now I wanna talk about my favorite recurring piece of writing, and that’s the flashbacks Snow gets whenever someone he knows dies
(Full spoilers, beware!)
One big difference I saw from the start of the book is that unlike in the original trilogy where Katniss didn't have a long history with the people in the Hunger Games, 2/3 of the prequel book has Snow in the Capitol, surrounded by his classmates who he’s known since childhood.
And I really liked it when there was this flashback thing whenever one of them died, it really hammered it in that the mentors were all childhood friends, and basically school kids. I also just have a thing for recurring themes and echoed lines in writing X’)
1) Arachne Crane
“Arachne hadn’t been his favorite person, but she’d always been in his life. They’d played as babies, been at birthday parties, stood on ration lines, attended classes together. She’d been dressed head to toe in black lace at his mother’s funeral, and he’d cheered her brother’s graduation only last year. As part of the wealthy old guard of the Capitol, she was family. And you didn’t have to like your family. The bond was a given.”
This was the first to happen in the book, and possibly my favorite. My favorite because, Arachne wasn’t a good person. She was arrogant and snobby, and she died taunting a starving Tribute with food (a cruel and also foolish move).
And Snow didn’t like her. Yet when she died, he still grieved, and I find that reaction so real, of grieving a person who’s been a constant presence in your life even though they weren’t pleasant, and just the shock that suddenly comes with losing them. That last line especially about the bond being a given and how you didn’t have to like your family to grieve them. It’s just really good writing.
2) Apollo Ring & Diana Ring
“As the twins’ matching silver coffins came into focus, all he could think of was this silly game they’d made up on the playground during the war called Ring-around-the-Rings. The rest of the kids would chase down Didi and Pollo and then grab hands, forming a circle around them and trapping them. It always ended with the whole lot of them, Rings included, laughing their heads off in a heap on the ground. Oh, to be seven again, in a happy pile with his friends, with nutritional crackers waiting at his desk.”
This is the second and third classmate death that happens in the book. We didn’t see much of the twins, but Snow still had a fond childhood memory of all of them innocently playing.
3) Gaius Breen
“Coriolanus couldn’t process it. Gaius, dead? Gaius Breen? He remembered a joke Gaius had recently told him about how many rebels it took to tie a shoe.”
Terribly elitist, but the sentiment is there. A longtime friend and classmate died and he’s shocked.
And last but definitely not least,
4) Sejanus Plinth
“As they passed him, Coriolanus locked eyes with Sejanus, and all he could see was the eight-year-old boy on the playground, the bag of gumdrops clenched in his fist.”
I feel all the previous flashbacks built up to this final and most heartbreaking one. I teared up at this scene. When Snow looks at the guy he betrayed and who he always felt resentment and annoyance towards, and sees the 8 year old boy from the playground, it just kinda crashes down. It’s such a “what have you done?” moment.
In general, I just really like that kind of writing style, when things get repeated throughout the story.

❄️
oh, this just made me realize, related to the previous ask about there being an open sky above dirtmouth, and a possibly colder climate, that snow would actually be a possibility in the au. so this is a perfect follow up to that ramble haha
so, time for some snow related headcanons then
despite the colder than average climate, snow isn't very common in the hallownest area. it's likely that many dirtmouth inhabitants have only experienced it once or twice in their lives, so whenever it happens, it's quite an event
fpk would not be too thrilled. he has a fondness for warmth and gets noticeably less active (and more grumpy) if it gets too cold. that being said, he would find snowflakes quite beautiful, i think. he would admire their complex and yet elegant structure, and he would love watching the snowfall through the window. under a warm blanket and with a cup of hot tea, of course
grimm, on the other hand, isn't as sensitive to cold. his body temperature is high enough where he barely feels a difference. i mentioned before that it's so high, that if he stood in snow for a while, it would melt around him. the thing that annoys him the most is snowflakes getting stuck in the collar of his cloak. makes it all damp and ugly. but being able to cuddle under a blanket with fpk makes it all worth it
hornet likes snow. she's not as bothered by the cold as fpk, especially as her upgraded outfit is more adapted for cold temperatures. maybe she would make herself some winter boots with a bit of fluff on them? that would be adorable. but as for snow itself, i think she would enjoy the different atmosphere it brings. she's already seen everything hallownest has to offer, so walking through snow on the way underground would be a nice change of pace
holly is more or less neutral. their body is quite cold by default so i don't think they would feel the change in temperature too much. i guess they wouldn't be too fond of how it affects their garden, though. the first snow they experienced caught them by surprise and all of their flowers died from the cold, and they were visibly quite upset, which is rare for them. but i wouldn't say they hate the snow, they see the beauty in it and they find the changed landscape inspiring
lewk loves playing in the snow, they could spend all day making little snowmen (or snowbugs?) and having snowball fights with anyone who is unfortunate enough to lower their guard. even hornet joins him sometimes, in those rare moments where she lets her childhood joy shine through the perpetually annoyed mask. it's a very adorable bonding moment for them, though grimm isn't too thrilled about all the mess they leave at home after going back inside haha
zote hates snow. it's cold and wet and gets everywhere. and he doesn't have too many fond memories with it (got his face shoved in it way too many times by his childhood bullies), so whenever there's snow he just complains all day and refuses to go outside. i guess he could spend that time inside with fpk and grimm, maybe get to know them better, but 1. he finds their constant flirting irritating and 2. he's still a bit scared of being left alone with either of them. so he either just sits in his own little hut and whines about everything, or stays at bretta's place and also whines about everything

TF 141 + friends during Christmas headcanons (with s/o included) (Pt.1)
Tumblr media
Warnings: slight mentions of canon typical violence, mentions of trauma, a few naughty jokes
A/N: I got so carried away it's a miracle I even finished these
John "Soap" MacTavish
• Absolutely loves the holidays and he would never end a year without celebrating Christmas
• The cold isn't his favourite, but he's used to it since Scotland gets chilly more often than not
• Expect a lot of childlike happiness in general around this time of the year from him. He has so many fond memories of his childhood about Christmas and he gets reminded of something by the smallest things. It's adorable when he starts rambling about a memory while you two are doing something like shopping or watching TV
• He's down for playing in the snow with you, but don't expect him to hold back in snowball fights. He's careful to never truly hurt you, but you still get some snow thrown in your face and tackled to the ground now and then
• If you challenge him to build a snowman or make a snow angel, you can bet he's going to do them as if his life was on the line. He's a competitive guy
• You should let him win every time, because he gets even more cheerful when you feed his ego and his wide grin is worth seeing every second
• He's a pro at building snowmans though, so you probably couldn't win against him even if you really wanted (where he gets coal and carrots every time is a mystery)
• He's really bad at ice skating, but will still try if you want to go with him
• He loves cuddling up and getting cozy under warm blankets inside. Be it watching a movie, resting next to the fireplace or watching the snow with hot cocoas in your hands, he lives for these calm moments where you are all bundled up together
• Likes those really bad Christmas movies and forces you to watch them for the 10th time every year (it's worth hearing his laugh or dumb impressions though)
• He loves how the cold weather gives him a reason (not that he needs one) to see you in his oversized clothes. Some of his favourite moments are when he can get his cold hands under your (his) sweatshirts and make you jump and screech. Partly because it's funny, but also becasuse you two always end up warming up in each other's embrace locked in a hug
• Matching ugly sweaters? Naturally. Somehow he always find the most ridiculous ones
• Finds adorable how rosy your cheeks get out in the cold and how red your nose turns
• Will call you Deer (which sounds the same as Dear tbh, especially from his mouth)
• He constantly sings Christmas songs, please someone stop him
• He's going to use so many pick up lines. Ones like "Shouldn’t you be on top of the tree, Angel?" or "Let’s pretend to be presents and get laid under the tree"
• Let's be honest, he looks really cute in puffy coats and scarves around his neck, shielding him from the harsh weather. Although, he's the type of guy to run around in a thin jacket over a single sweatshirt, so you're going to have to make him wear warmer clothes. We don't want him getting sick, because he turns into a big baby
• He finds gift giving a great way to show his love and appreciation and even when he's gifting something as a joke, you know it's coming from his heart and he doesn't mean anything bad by it
• He loves the traditional dishes and can and will devour everything that gets put in front of him
• Will drink all the eggnog and similar holiday drinks
• He also likes to try out the festive drinks around the popular places
• Always spends the holiday with his family when his job let's him, but would love to have you with them if you are comfortable with the idea (and vice versa ofc)
• He loves decorating your Christmas tree, especially if he gets to put the star on the top when you are done. Somehow he's also really good at the whole thing, putting the ornaments just the right places
• Even if they rarely have a celebration around the base, he's still there to bring the holiday spirit
• He isn't afraid to decorate around the base and wear dumb Christmas sweaters, and his cheerful behaviour is contagious. Soon enough everyone is ready to celebrate, even the usually grumpy ones (Ghost wanted to punch him when he put a Santa hat on his head somehow, but in the end didn't)
• Maybe not everyone is into the idea, but he always gets something small for his friends. A book here, a scarf there, sometimes personal items (perfume, handmade mask), but he never forgets about anyone
• He cried once because Price sat down with a bottle of his favourite whiskey to just talk when neither of them were able to get home in time for Christmas. It meant so much to him, having his mentor by his side, just casually listening to anything he was saying and spending time with him because he actually wanted to
+ he teases Rodolfo constantly with Rudolf jokes this time around and gets slapped on a regular basis by Ghost who can't deal with his overflowing energy
--- ☃ ---
Kyle "Gaz" Garrick
• Munches on candy canes 24/7, it's a wonder how his teeth are still intact
• You can bet he buys the most ridiculous looking Christmas sweaters and makes countless of photos of you wearing them
• He's the one putting mistletoes over every doorframe at base, looking out for possible victims (sometimes Soap helps too, but they both end up getting slapped on the head by Ghost for being so dumb)
• Your home is going to get decorated to the brim. If you don't want him putting stuff somewhere you gotta warn him, otherwise ornaments, garlands and similar will be everywhere
• He loves Christmas lights and you're going to have at least two in the house (on the windows, tree, rails by the stairs etc.)
• He always catches a cold during winter somehow, but it doesn't last longer than a few days luckily
• Loves baking gingerbread and never forgets about it. He makes them in all kinds of shapes and you two decorate them together. Somehow he always ends up eating most of them in the next few days unintentionally. He just loves them is all
• Prone to randomly play Christmas songs and dance around the living room/kitchen with you
• He loves to sing Baby It's Cold Outside with you, especially in the og duet way
• When his nose and ears get all red after being out long in the cold, he looks younger than he actually is
• He wears one specific scarf every year: you gave him a handmade one a few years back and he loves to have a reminder of you with him at all times
• Snowball fights are in order, even snow man making is on the list
• He always gives the snow men dumb names like Carrot or Mr. Snow
• He's the one with Soap who bring the holiday spirit to the base every year, but he's been influencing Laswell and Price more too
• He usually spends the holidays with his family and he's more than happy if you want to join him/ invite him to your family gathering
• Most of the times if they have a little celebration with the team it's just them, but he can sweet talk and beg his way into taking you with him if you want him to
• Somehow he always drinks too much alcohol during the night and he doesn't even like most of the liquors. It's fine though, he never gets too out of it because he has enough brains to pay attention and know you will be pissed
• He makes every present special somehow, be it by taking you out to your favourite place then giving you something, sneaking something into your stuff when you're not looking or simply putting it under the tree and waiting for you to notice
• His gifts range from silly to really heartwarming and he never fails to surprise you
• Often writes really heartfelt notes inside of funny Christmas cards and gifts it to everyone he knows
• He's likely to tear up if you give him something really thoughtful/that means a lot to him
• He likes wrapping presents and he has a talent for making them look good too
• Likes Christmas shopping, but the crowds quickly make him regret going (especially the slow walkers and elderly)
• He's a romantic by heart, but somehow just can't handle Christmas hallmark movies
--- ☃ ---
Simon "Ghost" Riley
• Not a fan of the holidays thanks to his family situation. Christmas always brings grim and bittersweet memories back, so he gets more closed off than usual
• For you, he's going to try though
• He hates the smell of cinnamon for some reason
• Also dislikes anything ginger flavoured, but eats/drinks it nevertheless when you chastise him "It makes you healthier and more resistant Simon"
• He's going to scarf down anything else you make him though, especially if it's traditional dishes
• He's also going to try cooking himself, but will only succeed making a few specific dishes. Those are going to taste heavenly though
• Will only wear Santa hats and ugly sweaters for you and he's not going to let anyone else see him in them
• Likes candy canes and different kinds of special holiday chocolates and sweets
• He often comes home from work grumbling about Soap's idiotic pranks and his everlasting holiday spirit, but he's never truly mad at him. Sometimes they make him giddy too and bring some warmth into his heart about Christmas
• He's never sure about gift giving and for the most part he feels like it's unnecessary. But he will always make an exception for you by giving you something that means much to you. He still likes giving more than getting though, because he doesn't feel like he deserves any of them
• Will only let you play slow and less known Christmas songs, No Mariah Carey or anything similar. You can often catch him humming songs under his breath though, maybe even the most mainstream ones he claims to hate
• He loves the pretty lights all over the city and will help you put some up too. He's good at that and somehow always knows how and why they often get ruined (catch him stare up at the lights with big eyes like a cat, lost in thought)
• The cold and the snow is just another thing that he can put into the back of his mind and mostly ignore, but if you love them, some of the enthusiasm might spread to him too
• It would be a big step for him, but he'd like to visit your family with you. It would take a while for him to warm up to the idea, but eventually he'd agree. He might get a few breakdowns and very emotional moments during the whole visit, but he would be deeply grateful for showing him how lovely it is to have a loving family, especially during the holidays
--- ☃ ---
John Price
• The dad™ who either gets angry because he can't untangle the Christmas lights, or falls down the ladder while putting them up
• Looks really good in a Santa hat tbh
• He might secretly take up Santa gigs for some extra money
• Sit on Santa's lap jokes 😭
• He wouldn't admit it out loud, but it brings him comfort seeing the team so happy during the holidays
• That's the sole reason he lets them have their fun, decorating the base and all the such. Otherwise he wouldn't care too tuch, holidays don't really excite him
• He likes that it gives him more off time though, especially if he can spend it with you
• He often grumbles about snow getting on his clothes, and you have to scold him to take his boots off before making his way into your house. The man just brings all the snow in and you have to clean the water up
• It's funny but also kind of adorable when little snow crystals land on his beard
• The type to absolutely devour Christmas dinner, then drink 3 bears and end up sleeping on the couch, snoring loudly
• That doesn't happen too often, but when it does it's just a sign he feels comfortable enough in your presence to do that
• He sneaks cookies off the plates all the time, and candy canes off the tree. You have to hit his hand like grandmothers do, otherwise he will just do it again
• Can't cook for shit, but he loves watching you make dishes and listen to you explain them
• Gives small gifts to his men, always making sure it's something they're going to like. He pays attention all year for birthdays and holidays
• He's a bit old-fashioned, so his gifts are mostly just spending quality time together and giving you something small but meaningful
• He appreciates anything you give to him, but he always tells you your company is enough to make him happy
• No family celebrations towards his end, but he's more than happy to accompany you
• He gets little presents for your younger siblings too if you have any
• He celebrates with Laswell though, usually just going out for drinks just the two of them, or visiting her and her wife. He gives her wife gifts too and he always gets some in return
• Always hums the worst Christmas songs, if you hate them it's purely out of teasing too
--- ☃ ---
Kate Laswell
• The mom™ who gets present for all her children every year
• She makes amazing cookies and usually lets Gaz help when making them
• Her and her wife always watch every horrible movie in the TV, it's basically a tradition
• When the others want to watch sports at base (Soap and Price), she's going to switch to Christmas movies. Nobody is brave enough to truly argue with her
• She loves the holidays, but she's not as hyped about it as the others. She loves that it gives her more off time with her wife and the overall vibes, but the soft and calm ones
• She's more likely to listen to calming songs and ones without singing in them than the mainstream ones
• She lets the others off the hook more easily during the holidays
• Loves making Christmas wreaths and Price gets a new one gifted to him every year
• She's really supportive and always makes sure the others know they can spend Christmas with her if they don't have anywhere else to go. Her wife is always more than happy to see them, and they can always just cook for one or two more people
--- ☃ ---
If you don't like the holidays (personal reasons or otherwise) or don't have anyone to spend them with, all of these guys are more than willing to be by your side. They are happy to take you to their family gatherings or to their teams, and they would never force you to celebrate something you wouldn't want to. They will always make sure you are comfortable with their ideas and their top priority will be your happiness :)

Number 30? :)
#30: name something(s) that remind you of home (doesn't have to be your house)
well, there's this river in my hometown that's been important to me for most of my life. I first started going there when I was a kid, my dad used to take me in the summertime when it got too hot but the lake was too crowded. it's usually too cold to swim in (it's mountain runoff, so basically melted snow), but if it's warm enough you can wade in and feel the flow of the water. it gets pretty fast, and the pressure is nice, if you're sturdy enough to handle it.
one summer I rode down it in an inflatable tube with my family, but at the time I hated it because the water was too cold. the memory is still a fond one for me, though. we would also usually take our dogs with us, and as I've had many dogs over the course of my life, it feels almost generational to picture all of them wading through that water. one year, our bulldog, or maybe our husky (sadly no longer with us, but the bulldog is still going strong ❤️), I don't remember which, got swept up in the current and ended up floating for a good minute or so before we caught up and got em. it was scary at the time of course, but funny in hindsight.
eventually as I got older, we stopped taking family trips to the river, but I've never stopped going. these days, it's more often than not my place of comfort when I'm in a really bad state of mind. but I've lived a lot at that river, I've taken dates and friends there, I've had sex there, I've been alone there for hours, I've written and drawn there and hiked its surrounding areas. it's a very important place for me and always somewhere I'll return to to remind myself of the good parts of my life, or to think through important decisions. there's something comforting in the eternal current of a river, to me. rocks, trees and debris pile in their depths, but their course is forever certain and unchanging. a river will cut through earth to chart its own course against all will of its surrounding environment. I like to think people are the same way.
thanks a bunch for this ask, it really got me thinking about that place, and I love to talk about it. I've visited recently, but I may need to again, especially if this heat keeps up the way its been going.

What's everyone's favourite type of weather? Cozy rainy days at home? Sunny days at the beach? Something else?
(Gonna answer this one from the human AU because I had the idea and now it wont leave me alone. ENJOY!)
"I think I like the spring and the fall the best," Felicity answered with a grin. She twirled her hunting knife between her fingers, gazing out at the forest from the back of the parked food truck. "Summer's nice, but I like the cooler days when the critters are out. I can walk around all cozy and not sweatin'. Makes huntin' fresh game for the food truck a lot easier."
Sure this meant they weren't using some of the traditional Mexican ingredients in Tiago's food, but a hunting license wound up a LOT cheaper than constantly buying meat in the long-run. She could bring him home a deer, skin it, slice it up, and give him enough meat to use for nearly a week's worth of meals depending on the size of it. Pelts and bones could also be resold and turned into extra revenue.
Felicity knew rich men well. Sometimes they liked to buy things and put them on their walls just to look impressive. Like a stag's horns. No part of the animal ever went to waste, and Felicity made sure that they never died in vain. It was also strictly for food, and each piece of the animal was used somehow. She also made sure never to over-hunt.
"There's just somethin' magical about your boots crunchin' against the leaves and the smell of the trees surroundin' you while the first bits of winter are blowin' through your hair," she sighed dreamily.
***
Milton groaned as they peeked out through their curtains. The sun was far too bright for their liking.
"Night time," they answered softly, letting the curtain fall closed. "I like the night time best. Especially in winter."
Night meant that there was no sun to burn them. Winter meant they could wear as many layers of clothing as they wanted and they wouldn't get too hot.
Cool and dark. That was how they liked it. Even in their own home, they preferred the lights dim.
"And I like when it rains when I'm in bed," they added.
Resting during a rainstorm was so incredibly peaceful. It lulled them right to sleep. All they needed to feel refreshed was the rain. All they needed to feel safe was the blanket of darkness with the pale light of the moon above them.
***
"Clouds are my favorite," Shura answered softly. "Cool, cloudy days, when I can go outside with less fear of my skin burning. I still have to wear sunscreen and I still bring my parasol, but I fear burning far less with the clouds above me."
They loved this city. The rain might have made it hard at times to take public transportation, but the cool weather and near-constant cloud-cover made it so very worth it. If they had gone to any of the other states Dimitri had been interested in, Shura surely would have burned to death.
Her skin was so sensitive to the rays of the sun. No, this place was better.
"I love the winter when I get to see snow again," she added. "It is not as dense as the snow in Russia, but it makes me feel at home. I like to sit by the fireplace, drink Sbiten, and watch the snow fall outside."
***
"I'd say I love Summer, but we don't really get much of one here," Zachary responded with a chuckle. "Our city averages at 70 degrees in the summer. During the day, anyway. At night it can go back down to 50 degrees. That 70 is my absolute favorite kind of weather. It makes me want to go swimming, dancing, or just overall socializing with as many people as possible."
A memory made his lips pull up into a fond smile.
"You ever been to a beach bonfire party? You know, where everyone's dancing, drinking, telling stories and just having fun together?" He asked. "And don't forget the skinny dipping."
Sad memories of what happened after that party invaded his mind. Slowly, that smile faded from his lips. That sure was one hell of a party. Sometimes he debated on if it was worth it or not.
"But you know, there's one thing I like even better than summer," Zachary started. Though he was right there in front of the other, his eyes told that he was miles away. "When you've been left alone, high and dry, and you're just trying to relax in your van. Then the rain comes. The sound of that rain completely enveloping you... like it's washing away all of the bad things. Like it's washing away everything that hurts."
He was silent for a long time. It was hard to tell whether he was simply lost in thought, or stuck in another memory. Time ticked by, second by second, minute by minute, until he finally blinked himself back to reality.
"I think I like that weather the most."

Delicate - Chapter 7
I'll get you out on the floor Shimmering beautiful And when I break it's in a million pieces
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1.2k
Warnings: Mentions of nausea, alcohol abuse
A/N: Here's the next chapter of Delicate! It took me a while to write but I'm glad how it turned out. If you like this chapter or my story please let me know! Any and all feedback is welcome 💗
Previous Chapters: Posted on Masterlist
Haechan loved the first snow since he was a kid, with fond memories of throwing snowballs at his younger sister despite his mother’s warnings. The crisp air stung his cheeks and nose, turning them a bright red. He could remember how his mother told him to make a wish as the snowflakes hit the top of his head. Even as Haechan grew up, he never stopped wishing upon the first snowflake of the season. Maybe he never stopped because it was one of the few things that kept him close to his mother. Or perhaps it kept him hopeful that one day, he'd be back home.
Trudging along the icy pathway on the open campus field, Haechan pulled his scarf higher on his nose. The first snow might have made him feel nostalgic, but it didn't mean he enjoyed the cold wind slapping his face. As the flurries slowly began collecting in his hair, he silently made a wish. For his family to be healthy, for his friends to graduate, and for himself to not regret the past.
Haechan had lost count of how many weeks it’s been since he last heard from Ji Woo. While he tried his best to distract himself, only regret plagued his mind. If only he asked her to stay, if only she told him that he was wrong. But he knew that he lost his chance the minute he stopped kissing her. When she reached out for him, he had pushed her away selfishly. The next morning, all she left in his bed was a bitter scent that left his mouth dry. She didn't even bother to fix the sheets. He should’ve been mad, but every ounce of his body missed her.
Pretending not to dwell on her proved harder than Haechan thought. Every time he opened his phone, he secretly hoped that she would call. Much to his disappointment, she never did. Haechan supposed he didn't have the right to be upset with her, especially when he never reached out either. It was a tiring game, and they were both playing the fool.
It didn't take long for Jaemin and Jeno to notice how spaced out he'd become, or how he'd go straight to his room after his afternoon classes. Haechan thought he was trying his best not to appear so grave, but his friends knew him too well. So when they convinced him to go out and celebrate their completed semester, Haechan swallowed any ounce of pity he felt for himself and went with them. They only had one more semester to go before they graduated. Haechan could push aside his sulking for one night.
They would often talk about their plans for after graduation, but as the date loomed the reality began to set in. Haechan knew he would go back to Korea, and Jeno and Jaemin were likely to go their own ways. The end of an era was rapidly approaching, and there was nothing they could do to slow it down.
As Haechan contemplated their futures, Jaemin shoved a shot glass into his hand.
“Bottoms up!”
One shot led to the next and soon enough the rest of the night became a blur of moving bodies and pulsating music. Each song faded into the other seamlessly, and Haechan made sure that he was never empty handed. It was the easiest way to nip any thoughts of her right away. He wasn't going to let her ruin his night. Deep down, Haechan knew that drinking himself to incohersion wasn't the healthiest way to cope, but it was better than spiraling.
No, tonight he was going to focus on himself. He was going to feel every beat, every sip of liquor, and every warm body that pressed up against his own. It felt good to let his inhibitions go all at once, to wash away every unwanted thought down his throat. It was euphoric. Haechan leaned his head back and let out a chuckle. His body was on fire and it felt so damn good.
In a daze of bliss, Haechan almost missed as a small glimmer glided past him in one shift motion. At first he didn't think much of it and brushed it off as the lights playing tricks on his altered mind. But he couldn't ignore the lingering and bitter smell of cigarettes that flooded his senses. Cloaked by the haze and lights, Haechan could barely make out her face. But every fiber of his being called out for her. The very person he tried so hard to push out of his mind. Ji Woo.
The sequins of her onyx dress reflected each strobe light, almost like she was a mirrorball. Haechan could’ve sworn he was hallucinating as she danced, unaware that he was right behind her. If only he could reach out and touch her. He had to make sure she was real this time and not just a ghost haunting his desires. But he was too slow and she slipped out of his fingers once again.
Too late. Like the nightmare he had months ago. He couldn't reach her in time. Ji Woo. It had been her all along, it had to be. No one else had shining eyes like hers. It was her. Desperately, Haechan followed the shimmering trail she left behind her. But he had trouble trying to find her as she disappeared in the smoke. Confused and dizzy, the room began spinning. An abrupt wave of nausea hit him.
It wasn't long until Haechan found himself hunched over the side of a toilet. He didn't know how much time had lapsed, but somehow Jaemin and Jeno managed to find him.
“Usually I’m the one causing a scene,” Jaemin joked calmly from behind. A weak groan was the only sound Haechan was capable of making in response as the room spun.
“I think we better get you some fresh, sobering air.” Jeno stated. Then without much warning, Jaemin and Jeno grabbed Haechan’s arms in attempt of standing him back up. It must’ve been too quick, because Haechan felt his consiousness slipping.
“Hey, buddy,” Jeno said as he tapped Haechan across the cheek. “You gotta stay awake.”
“Fuck, how much did he drink?” Jaemin nervously asked as they began to drag Haechan out of the bathroom.
“Beats me,” Jeno replied. “Maybe he wanted to forget something.” He teased, but there was something in his voice that wasn't joking.
“Or someone,” Jaemin said under his breath.
Pushing through the crowd, they finally reached the entrance of the bar. The cold air had in fact been sobering, as Haechan slowly came back to his senses. There was no more spinning, but his head pounded and his throat burned. Haechan realized that he must've gotten rid of most alcohol in his system. Though he still struggled to grasp the holes in his memory.
“Welcome back,” Jaemin smirked.
“I’m sorry,” Haechan muttered as he groaned.
“I do this to you all the time, don't worry,” Jaemin chuckled, trying to make light of the situation.
“No,” Haechan breathed. “It's not okay.”
Haechan couldn't lie anymore, not to himself or to Jaemin. It was obvious Jaemin was worried about Haechan’s uncharacteristic and destructive behavior. Eventually he would put the pieces together. It didn't take a genius to recognize the signs of heartbreak. One final crack in his heart and all would crumble from underneath Haechan’s feet. The weight was already too heavy. Haechan didn't care if Jaemin would be furious. In time, he might forgive Haechan. Maybe one day all amends would be made and they would simply laugh at this fleeting moment of their youth.
“I think I’m in love with your sister,” Haechan whispered incoherently before he slipped under the wave of unconsciousness.

Hearth's Rising 2023 - A Drabble (LOL I suck at titles maybe i'll come up w/ one later)
Seto Kaiba is not fond of the winter season. He's not fond of many things, let's be real here, but this time of year is especially irksome to him.
It's early evening and he's home, idly waiting for his phone to charge. As the sun sets, Arcanus City outside his window begins to light up with shades of red and green and gold. People really don't waste any time in putting up holiday decorations. Obnoxious, he thinks as he strides to the window curtains to block out the view.
Then, what do you know, a gentle snow steadily begins to fall. Despite himself, he remains at the window quietly watching, a long-forgotten memory coming to the forefront of his mind.
"Big brother?" Mokuba asks as he unzips his puffy winter coat. He's still a little out of breath; he and Seto had rushed to get one last ride down the hill on their sled before being called inside for the evening. "Yeah?" Seto is stomping the snow from his boots at the welcome mat, then shrugs off his coat and removes his gloves. "You said Santa's not real, right?" Mokuba lifts himself up onto a stool, waiting for his brother to help get him out of his puffy prison of snow gear. "Right." Seto is now kneeling in front of Mokuba as he unlaces his boots. With a little wiggle, he's able to pull each one of them off and tosses them to the side. "Then how does everyone get their presents on Christmas morning?" The little brother asks, stretching and wiggling his free toes. He doesn't think before blurting out an answer- "Kids' parents buy the stuff, wrap it up and put it under the tree while they're asleep. Santa's just a silly story. Pretend." "What about kids like us? ...Who don't have parents?" Mokuba sniffles. His little button nose is red and runny. Seto regrets telling him that now. Should have just let the kid keep believing in Santa. He hears his baby brother start to whimper, and shushes him gently before the little one can get himself too worked up. "It's okay, Mokuba. We'll still have Christmas here..." It's not working. Tears begin to fall from Mokuba's eyes as he tries and fails to stifle little sobs. He was hoping to be out of this place by now. "Mokuba..." Seto sighs. He's tired. So tired. Nevertheless, he grasps at some comforting words. "Our parents may not be with us anymore, but you and me are still a family. Even if we don't get any presents this year, I'm so happy that I still have you. I'll take that over any gift."
Seto absentmindedly reaches for something at his chest as he's lost in this memory, but it's not there. This realization brings him back to the here and now. Alone. An uneasy feeling washes over him. Rather than sit there with it, he dons his coat and goes for a walk downtown to clear his head.
Arcanus City University is alight with festivities. Not that Seto wants to actually partake; for some reason he just feels like being around other people right now (even if he's just being a fly on the wall) might ease this dread threatening to overcome him. He's just walking along in no direction in particular, people watching, taking in the snowy scenery, trying to distract himself from his thoughts. He sees a couple of young women (maybe students?) sitting at a booth, rubbing their hands together for warmth. He overhears one of them griping about needing to put in all these volunteer hours...
"Oh, hello sir!" She very quickly changes her tone when she notices him looking. "Would you be willing to make a donation to St. Azalea's orphanage to help children and families in need this holiday season?" She's clearly just rattling off the pitch she was given in her best attempt at a customer service voice. Seto's not impressed, but...
"…Sure." He agrees. He needs no further details. He doubts she'd be willing and able to explain more if he asked. Doesn't matter. He reaches into his pocket and hands the girl a... not insignificant amount of keys. He knows this is as much as he can spare; he and Mimi had met and gone over the budget earlier today.
"Thank you so much for your generosity!! That's very kind of you, sir," she replies, shocked.
"Mhm." Seto is already turning his back to her.
"Happy Hearth's Rising to you and your family!" She calls out to him as he's walking away.

Ink and Fictober 2023 Day 3: "Okay, show me."
Inktober Prompt #3: Path
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Fandom: Good Omens
Character/s: Crowley, Side Characters, Mentioned Aziraphale
Additional Tags: Hurt No Comfort, Angst, Crowley is Good with Kids, Walks in the Park, Christmas, Inspired by Music
Summary: Christmas always reminded Crowley of angels (or a very special one, at least). Now it leaves a bitter, vile taste in his mouth and Crowley can't wait for it to end.
Quick Note: There is a piece of music embedded further down the story. It's a Swedish folk song and the English lyrics mentioned here aren't the same as those officially written because they're the ones my choir sang when I was a kid. I strongly encourage you to have it playing in the last few paragraphs if you can. :)
___
Crowley didn’t mind Christmas, usually.
Technically, he should despise it and all it stood for - he was a demon, after all - but ever since the holiday had come about sometime in the third century, he’d found himself quite fond of it. Good food, good wine, plenty of plants and a whole day when Hell was guaranteed not to bother him. Although he could do with less of the carolling and choirs showing up on his doorstep (which he hadn’t actually had to worry about since he’d started living in the Bently, but still).
And it always reminded him of angels. Or one, very particular angel.
But this year, Crowley despised it.
He hated it with his entire being, with every fibre of his demonic entity. Everything that had once made Christmas tolerable now made it insufferable to him; the lights were too cheerful, the gifts too full of love, and the little angels people still placed on top of their Christmas trees leered down at him mockingly. He <em>especially</em> hated the angels.
He found himself hiding away in the Bently, wishing he could just fall asleep and set a timer for January next year. Or maybe several years after that. But every time Crowley tried, his thoughts came back to haunt him. There were memories of other Christmases when he could convince Aziraphale to down bottles of wine ‘because it was the season’ and watch the angel try to drunkenly sing Christmas carols and fail atrociously. Or quieter times when they would simply have tea at the Ritz and stroll along the duck pond, chatting about nothing and everything at the same time.
But those memories were tainted now. Tainted with the grief and knowledge that they won’t happen this year, or indeed, ever again. There won’t be a friendly, angelic face waiting for him in the next year like there had been in recent years. There would be no warm bookshop or dinners at the Ritz. No strolls along the lake or picnics under trees. No nightingales to sing their song in Berkley Square.
There was just Crowley. And a shattered, broken heart.
So, after failing for the third time in a row to quiet his loud thoughts (and possibly setting a nearby Christmas tree on fire by accident), Crowley decided to go for a walk.
He locked the Bently and let his feet carry him wherever they wanted to go, his shoes making soft crunching noises as he trod over a thin layer of frost and snow. There weren’t many people out tonight. It wasn’t quite Christmas yet, but Crowley still passed a few children’s choirs, all bundled up to sing their little hearts out. Crowley blocked them out.
It wasn’t until he found himself standing in front of a familiar pond that he realised where his feet had been taking him. They’d been instinctively walking to one of the few places he hadn’t felt alone, even when he didn’t have Aziraphale beside him.
The duck pond was frozen over now, and most of the ducks were gone. Crowley wasn’t too sure if they were the kind that migrated, and he didn’t really care anymore. Everything felt numb and fuzzy, save for the frigid air that he drew into his lungs, burning with each breath and clouding in front of his eyes with each exhale.
He stood there, alone, for a few minutes. Just breathing. Then, as he turned to leave, something small wrapped around his hand.
Crowley looked down, a little surprised.
“Hi there mister,” said the little girl that had grabbed his hand. “You look sad. Want to come with us?”
Crowley blinked at her slowly, then looked around. A couple were standing a few metres off, clearly waiting for her. For him?
Crowley stared at her. “...Why?” he croaked.
The girl grinned. “We were going to watch the choir and you looked lonely and sad. Nobody should be lonely and sad at Christmas.”
Crowley wanted to point out that yes, people were lonely and sad at Christmas, and yes, he was one of them, and no, he did not want to come, but she started pulling him along anyway, in the direction of whom he guessed were her parents. He was about to tell her that she really shouldn’t be walking up to random strangers and pulling their hands, but she gazed up at him with wide, cheerful eyes. Crowley sighed. He’d always had a soft spot for kids.
“Okay. Show me,” he relented. The girl’s grin widened.
“This way!” she called happily, dragging him along. Her parents gave him apologetic smiles but he just shrugged at them and shoved his hands in his pockets. He’d had nothing better to do anyway.
As they walked down the path, the sound of children singing drifted through the air around them, getting louder as they approached.
“Who can sail without the wind?”
“Without oars who can row?”
Crowley frowned. This didn’t sound like a Christmas carol.
The girl and her parents joined a small crowd that had already gathered around the choir, made up of small children aged between eight and twelve. A black-clad conductor was instructing the children with a baton. The girl waved at another who was standing among the choir’s rows, each sharing a goofy, best-friend smile with eachother. Crowley’s heart clenched painfully.
“Who can leave a friend behind?”
The choir girl made a face and her friend in the audience laughed.
“Without the tears that flow?”
When the choir had finished their song, the girl looked over her shoulder, beaming.
Crowley was gone.

Christmas Traditions
@faegents HELLO! TIS I! I am your Secret Santa! 😃 I decided to give your mechanic boy a bit of Christmas joy because I love him and need to see more of him.
Any way, enjoy!
Paperwork. This was what he agreed to, so he shouldn't complain. Shouldn't being the key word. Joan took a deep breath and sighed. Why do so many supernatural entities have to crawl out of the woodwork around this time of year? Just because the veil is thin does not mean you should pass through. He took off his glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose. Maybe a walk around the manor would clear his mind.
Joan sighed as he threw on a coat, grabbing his scarf and gloves as he walked out the door. Nature had decided to bless them with snow a day before Christmas. His eyes were drawn to the lights along the house and in the windows, the tree in the parlor looking as warm and inviting as any other house. It brought a smile to his face. Even when one has been alive for millenia, the joy of the season can be infectious.
The fresh snow crunched under his boots as he continued to walk the grounds. He found himself in front of the garage. It looked lifeless on the outside and there were no lights shining through the windows. Was Santi not going to decorate? Not even a little? It was a few years after his centennial anniversary of joining and things can way heavy on the mind once you've been in one place for so long...
Joan looked down at his watch. There were only a few hours left in the day... He sighed. If this was going to work, he would need help. Joan quickly made his way back to his home just on the edge of manor grounds. "Josephine? I know this is last minute, but I need your help. Are you up for cooking late into the night?"
She looked up from her spot on the couch, shivering from the cold gust of wind he brought with him. "Under any other circumstances, I would say no, but you have that look about you. Who's in need of saving through comfort this time?" A soft laugh left her as she beckoned him over towards the fire.
He smiled and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Santi. The garage isn't done up. I don't know how I didn't notice until now. Even when he's busy with missions during this time of year he'll at least put lights along the gables. But there's nothing." He sighed as he settled on the couch beside her. "I know that he has fond enough memories for Christmas, and it worries me that he hasn't done anything..."
"Well, cooking like an Italian nun from a few centuries ago is no easy task. Especially the night before Christmas... And where are you going to get a tree? All the shops will be closed by now." She looked up at him.
"I have my ways, dove. Don't you worry." He smiled and kissed the top of her head. "But are you willing to do it? Maybe not every last thing, but at least a dish or two? I promise you'll be greatly rewarded..." The teasing note in his voice could not be missed.
She laughed as she smacked away his cold hands. "If I did not love you as much as I do, what would you do without me?"
He kissed her hands. "Suffer a great deal from the lack of you, my dearest. Now, if you would like, try and start on the food now so we can finish it up tomorrow. I have to go find a tree." Joan gave her one last quick kiss before grabbing more heavy duty winter gear. His ax would be just outside in their shed. “I promise to be back well before the day ends. If you need anything, call me and I am sure that I will find a way to get it.” With that, the door closed behind him and he went off on his journey.
A few hours later, Joan had returned to manor grounds with his axe over one shoulder and a tree dragging on the snow covered ground behind him. Hopefully Josephine was working on the food because he has another daunting task in front of him. Santi was out on a late night drive, Joan saw him leave, so he only had a small window to get everything into the barn and set up. Thankfully he knows where Santi keeps all of his decorations. The tinsel, the ornaments, even garland for the handrail to his loft, Joan was going to put out everything.
He was halfway through stringing lights through the tree when he saw Josie pass the window and duck into the door. “It’s the best I can do on a short notice, but I made lasagna! Thankfully I had some sauce from when we canned the tomatoes this summer. It won’t be exactly like the nuns made, but it will definitely have more love baked into it. I didn’t cook it all the way so that we can finish it off here and fill the garage with the smell.” She was holding the dish in double gloved hands as she made her way to the toaster oven that Santi kept in the garage. “So, what else needs to be done?”
“Well,” Joan smiled at her, “we need to finish the tree, hang the garland and wreath, and put his presents under the tree. I can give you the garland and you can string it up everywhere? Lord knows that he has enough boxes to cover this entire place.” He laughed softly. “I’ll handle the wreath and then run back to the house for his presents.”
Josie took the long line of fake pine and ribbon with a smile. “I will cover every inch of open space, I promise.” She laughed softly. “I hope that he likes all of this. I wonder why he didn’t decorate this year...”
“Whatever the reason, we are going to set this up for him and I am sure that he is going to like it. Now,” he pressed a kiss to her cheek, “let’s get to it.”
With all the speed they could muster, they put everything up. The tree sparkled with lights and ornaments, pine and ribbon was wrapped around every conceivable space, and the presents were beautifully wrapped with ribbons on top. Just in time too. Joan heard the sound of Santi pulling up. “Quick!” He threw a Santa hat at Josie and pressed play on the sound system so that a soft piano rendition of O Tannenbaum played.
The door opened and Santi looked around confused. When did all of this happen? And why does it smell so good? “Wh... What? What’s this?” His eyes were wide and a few tears had gathered at the edges of his eyes.
“Happy Christmas, Santi.” Joan smiled. “I hope you don’t mind but it looked like you could do with a bit of holiday cheer. And I think,” he looked at his watch. It was just past midnight. “I think that Saint Nicholas has made his rounds.”
Dark eyes looked towards the tree. There was a small handful of presents that were beautifully wrapped. No doubt by Josie. “I...” He wiped his eyes. “Thank you. I can’t believe that you would do all of this for me. And in such a short time too...”
Joan came over to him and wrapped him in a hug. “Nonsense. Josie and I would do anything for you. You’re our family. And family is together on the holidays.”
Santi held on to him tightly. He doesn't know what’s gotten into him this season, but seeing everything that his two closest and oldest friends have done? A few tears escaped and rolled down his cheeks. “Thank you so much. I, I don’t know what else to say...”
“You can say Happy Christmas and go sit at the table. Josie made a lasagna and I don’t care if it’s midnight. I know that since you are awake, you’re hungry. Sit down and get settled.” He smiled and let Josie grab the lasagna. “Happy Christmas, Santi.
“Happy Christmas, Joan.”

Hey Kurama👋 have 3 questions:
Have you watched the snapcube sonic fan dubs
In your fox form do you ever get the zoomies
What was the funniest thing you ever experienced (so funny that you actually started belly laughing)
Hello there! Oh, multiple questions this time, hm? Well let's see here...
1. I'm afraid I haven't heard of that before. :o Doing a quick search, it appears to be people doing improvised lines over the cutscenes... Hm, in all honesty, I'm not sure if this would appeal to my sense of humor, but I did only look at a small moment of one, so I very well could be wrong. As of right now, I'd say I don't plan to watch them, but I may change my mind at some point in the future.
I am a fan of the Sonic series itself, though! I'd say my favorites are Team Dark- I doubt it's a surprise I'm drawn towards a group with a thief character, haha. It's also kind of astounding to me the sheer amount of similarities Shadow has to Hiei- even down to having a sweet sister in blue. I admit, I do have an extra strong fondness for this character solely because of how much he's like Hiei. :)
🌹
2. Haha, I suppose getting the "zoomies" would be an accurate statement. I've always really loved running through nature, and there's something particularly appealing about it when I'm in my fox form. Perhaps it's because of how much bigger the world looks and feels, with the trees towering over me even more than usual. Plus, I love the way the wind flows through my hair, so experiencing that all over my body is quite nice.
Sometimes if I'm feeling a little restless, I'll shift into my fox form just to take a run. I also often get the desire to do so when its snowing, since I spent a lot of my early life in cold climates- especially once I gained my plant manipulation abilities, as I enjoyed training my powers in such environments. Many plants are less inclined to grow and be manipulated with youki in the cold, so I found the added difficulty to be quite fun. So I suppose winter makes me feel quite nostalgic for that time, heh.
🌹
3. Oh dear, funniest memory in all of my few thousand years? I think that'd be hard to pin down, and I'm sure there's a good few I can't recall at the moment... So, I'll go for a recent story.
There's been a few times where I've convinced Hiei to play strip poker with me. I'm quite skilled at card games, so I already usually excel against him, but there was one game in particular where I was still fully clothed while he was almost completely naked across from me. Finally he had won one round, and smirked at me as he said "shirt. off." With me being who I am though, I kept full eye contact with him as I slowly slipped off a shoe and tossed it aside, haha. I was almost afraid he was going to burn the cards again, but thankfully he didn't.
That, however, wasn't the moment that made me bust into a fit of laughter. I only explained that as it was surely the catalyst for what happened the next time I had asked him to play strip poker with me. Hiei agreed to play, but in a moment, so I shuffled the cards in the meantime. He was taking longer than I expected, but I could still feel his energy in the house, so I didn't worry about it and just waited for him to return. And when he did, he... well, he looked kinda like this:
Tumblr media
Except it looked even more ridiculous, what with it being Hiei, and many of my clothes being much too big for him. I actually laughed so hard it started to hurt. 😂 I went with it for the game since it was too hilarious. And I did get a significant amount of the clothes off of him as we played, but I most certainly didn't win that time, haha.

4 + 20?
mythical creature you think/believe is real?
I firmly believe that....I don't know if I want to say that *ghosts* exist, because that's a term that has a lot of implications. But I think that we have enough consistent accounts, including by some friends of mine who are sensitive to this sort of thing, to suggest that some trace of human beings who are dead remains after they're gone. Whether that's something that's more like a trace or a photograph or a more conscious entity is something that I feel is more complicated, or why, if both exist, some people seem to have more of a postmortem presence than others. But. I do believe that people linger on in some form or fashion.
But I feel like "mythical".....and this is my experience talking, has certain connotations that ghosts don't always fit, so I'm also going to say that, as a Celticist, and, specifically, one who does what I do, I fully and completely understand that our image of the people of the Sidhe has rapidly evolved over the years and that the perception we have of them now is now what a ninth century peasant in co. Wicklow would have had. I have scholarly objectivity here and, even though I do believe that gaelic polytheists should have the right to worship their gods AND to study them in a professional capacity if they want to, I'm not one of them.
That being said.
You will NEVER find me dicking around a fairy fort. Nope. Not today, Satan.
In general, I adopt a firm attitude of "not sure if I believe, but not going to fuck around and find out" when it comes to the supernatural, especially from other cultures or belief systems, because I REFUSE to be the white girl in a horror movie.
favorite disney princess movie?
I used to watch Disney movies all the time with my aunt as a kid and, when I moved to Florida when I was 13, we had season's passes (and then they jacked the prices up, because....Disney), so I would constantly be in the parks, so this is a tough question.
I'd say Sleeping Beauty was my favorite when I was a kid (...MAYHAPS I had a small crush on Maleficent), Brave was my favorite in my early teen years (I swear I did NOT know I was going to be a Celticist, there was just...a lot of foreshadowing), and then Frozen. Am I aware of Frozen's various flaws, including and especially its current status as a cash grab? Yes. Do I still love it, because Elsa was probably the first Disney royalty I ever really *related* to? Also yes. Many fond memories of blasting out "Let it Go" while I was being driven to my community college program when I was about 16-17. One of the last films I actually watched in theatres before the pandemic hit, next to Rise of Skywalker, was Frozen II. And in the present, this is probably cheating since it isn't part of the animated canon, but I've gotten bizarrely attached to the live action Aladdin.
It should probably also be noted that, while I LIKED the Disney princess movies, my favorites were always the animal oriented ones -- So I did love Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Snow White (though, being the gory-minded child I was, I actually kind of preferred the bootleg animated version where they included the corset and the poisoned comb), but my real favorites were probably Aristocats, 101 Dalmatians, and Jungle Book.

Snowflakes fell from the pitch-dark sky, like a gift for each and every person down below. A breeze swept across once in a while, scattering the snowflakes every which way. Virote had a good time at the Smith household—you know, despite Beth and Jerry being passive-aggressive with each other. He could look past how tense they were. Virote brought another cake, too! A warm, cinnamon heavy blackberry cake. Ratana sent fruit basket on her behalf with pickings from the Golden Moon Kingdom. Silk nectarines and apples with blue skins that tasted like mint.
Actually, he never celebrated Christmas before. Even when he lived on Earth; nothing against the holiday, it was just cultural and religious difference that got in the way. He learned a lot. It was even a little fun. There was food and presents and odd, awkward moments between family members to be had. Games, as well. The few rounds of Uno they played proved to be the most challenging part of all ( Summer was surprisingly challenging and difficult to beat, Rick was temperamental. )
The mistletoe proved to be a problem, too. And, Rick was a good kisser. Virote had a hard time talking after that happened. He wasn't expecting Rick to reel him in and kiss him the way he did—that was the first kiss he had in years. About a decade, even. ❝It was a really nice evening… I think I'm gonna go for a walk before I go home,❞ he said, standing at the open entrance of Rick's garage space, bundled up in his leather jacket and triple layered shirts. The snow continued to fall. ❝You have a pretty cool family. Dysfunction aside, I mean.❞
Virote drew closer to Rick and grabbed the collar of his lab coat, returning that kiss from hours before. He was more handsy, though. His right hand stayed planted on the back of Rick's neck while the other one roamed. Under the lab jacket, under his actual shirt. Rick still tasted like alcohol, too. There wasn't as much tongue like before, but there was still some passion behind it.
❝That's payback for what you did. Anyway, I'll text you,❞ he said, pulling away and making way to the sidewalk, hands almost lingering. ❝Later!❞

Rick wouldn’t have admitted it out aloud, but all in all that Christmas hadn’t gone badly...at least not compared to their usual ones. The fact that Leonard, Joyce and Jacob hadn’t made it that year had definitely helped, even if he wasn’t exactly thrilled to have them coming over for New Year’s. However, for now he would take what he could and would save the bitching for when Beth’s in-laws would join them.
After eating lunch leftovers for dinner and some of Virote’s once again fancily over-the-top cake, the scientist had retired in the garage, refusing to take parts to more group games. Losing to Summer at Uno twice in a row that afternoon had been too much already for him. He left the automatic garage door open, wanting to enjoy the pungent air of the night. It was snowing too, so all the sounds were muffled, offering the perfect background noise for him to work on one of his gadgets.
Minutes ticked away into an hour, but Rick didn’t even notice, too lost in his tinkering and in the daze that the eggnog he kept drinking steadily was slowly filling his mind with. He could enjoy the silence from time to time, at least when his head wasn’t racing too much and when his thoughts didn’t dive down the too many dark paths his memories were made of. He could have easily stayed like that until late into the night, if it hadn’t been for the unexpected interruption.
The voice cutting through the quietness almost startled him, even if he managed not to show it. He had been so focused in what he was doing that he hadn’t heard their guest approaching the open door. A scowl formed on the genius’s face at that. He had never liked being caught off guard, under any circumstances, and he especially hated it when someone he wasn’t too fond of managed it
...Not that he found the younger man as utterly vexing as he had during the first period of their association. Between what his kingdom had to offer, how much Morty and Summer seemed to like him and the fact that the other was decent drinking buddy, the idiot had grown on him...sort of. Not to mention that he was fun to toy with.

“Y-You say that as if you could n-not consider the dysfunctions while talking about my family,” he shot back, turning around in his office chair to face Virote. “Tha-That’s not how it works. M-My family is those dysfunctions. F-For a great part, at least.”
Without those toxic traits, none of them would be whom they were. Would that have been for the best? It was honestly hard to say. A normal person would have probably said “yes”, but there were no normal people in the Smith-Sanchez household. Not even Jerry, as annoyingly painfully pathetic as he was.
“Y-Yeah, well, you have your way back, so...whatever. S-See you around.”
That would have been all for him and he would have just turned back to his device, if he hadn’t seen the other man moving to approach him. Rick rose an eyebrow questioningly, but he didn’t have the time to do much else because the next moment he was being grabbed by the lapels of his lab coat and pulled into a heated kiss.
Ice blue eyes widened in shock and for a few seconds he remained froze in place, paralysed with surprise. He definitely hadn’t been expecting such a bold move and, much to his chagrin, it showed.
Still, he didn’t stay like that for long. He always recovered quickly, no matter what happened. He had been forced to learn to do it during the years he had spent dwelling around the multiverse, chasing after his revenge. It was an essential skill to acquire, if you wanted to survive the life he had ended up living.
The hand pressing against his abdomen spur him into action and he gripped at Virote’s sides as warm fingers slipping under the hem of his shirt and touching his cool skin. Still, while delivering a nip or two, he mostly let himself be kissed, curious to see how the other would handle it, when given control.
He wasn’t disappointed, because the kiss was fierce and deep, just how he liked them, and the groping definitely add well to it. And the mixture of the eggnog he had been drinking and the lingering sweetness of the cake in the younger man’s mouth created a pleasant flavour.
The hint of heat that had started to blossom in his stomach, however, was quickly replaced by smug amusement when Virote switched to be flustered and in a hurry as soon as they broke away. It was funny watching his cockiness disappearing as quickly as it had come.
However, he hadn’t missed how those fingers had almost lingered and also the hesitation in the other’s steps.

“P-Payback my ass,” he told himself, sprawling in his chair and smirking smugly as he watched the younger man making his retreat. “H-He got a taste and he wanted more. T-There’s a fuckin’ reason if most of the multiverse wants a-a piece of me.”
With a snort, he reached out for his still half full mug of eggnog, taking a long sip from it as he wondered what he could get out of this new turn in their dynamic. In any case, he had no doubt that it would have been a lot of fun. At least for him.
