kuroo’s character is one i hold very dear to my soul.
i love that he’s snarky and provocative and insufferable and everything else, but i also think it’s so fitting that he used to hide behind his father’s legs when he was a kid.
he grew to love volleyball, pursued it with passion and spirit, felt it entirely as the dream it had always been. but he never went pro, and ! it’s just so right !
he was good at it, he was super good at it. but his path had already been shaped.
in this regard, isn’t kenma a fundamental part of the process that leads kuroo to the JVA?
kuroo introduces kenma to volleyball, drags him around (but not really, because kenma only ever does what he wants to do, he willingly follows kuroo) and grows up with him. we saw it in season four, how kuroo felt like he was somehow “guilty” of having forced kenma into that world — and kenma reminds the third years that if he really didn’t want to do it, he would’ve quit.
and obviously hinata becomes an important piece of the puzzle, but kenma sits on the floor at the end of the Battle of the Garbage Dump, and looks at kuroo, and thanks him.
and so kenma becomes the first person kuroo lowers the net for.
i believe this moment was another fundamental step towards his future. he’s really fit for his job, and he’s passionate about it. he really wants everyone to come together, he wants everyone to discover the joy of playing volleyball. he wants to lower the net!

Tsukishima x Kuroo x f!reader
Movie night with your boyfriend Kuroo and roommate Tsukishima takes a turn when Kuroo notices something.
Sitting in between your boyfriend, Kuroo and your roommate Tsukki, you feel Kuroo’s lips press softly to your neck, humming into your skin, sending a shiver down your spine. But Tsukki is right next to you, and you’re pretty sure he can hear and see what Kuroo is doing.
“Tetsu, love, maybe not right now?” You whisper into his hair as he licks at your clavicle.
“Why not?” He whispers back.
The way you say his name urges him on. His hands petting your thighs, unashamedly feeling you up in front of your roommate.
“Because Tsukki is right here,” you say through your teeth, trying to push him off of you.
“He can join if he wants,” Kuroo nibbles at your ear, eyeing Tsukishima who is desperately trying to hide both his blushing face and sudden hard on. “Looks like he likes it,” he muses.
Sneaking a glance over at Tsukki, you can see how uncomfortable he is. The red tint to his cheeks and his eyes, wide, as he stares straight ahead at the movie no one is watching now.
Slowly, Kuroo’s hand leaves your thigh to snake around and squeeze Tsukishima’s, eliciting a small whimper out of the blond.
“Come over here, Glasses,” Kuroo coos, taking Tsukishima’s hand and placing it on your leg. “That okay, pretty?” He asks you sweetly, feeling your pulse quickening as he sucks at your neck.
Your mind is muddled, mixed with different emotions and feelings. Desire, need, confusion, embarrassment. Kuroo’s lips feel so good on you, and Tsukishima’s warm, long fingers on your thigh send a wave of pleasure between your legs as he squeezes your plush flesh.
Out of the corner of your eye you see Tsukishima staring at you, the roommate you’ve buried your true feelings for for years, waiting for your answer to Kuroo’s question, longing for you to say yes.
“Y-Yes,” you moan, reaching for Tsukki to pull him into you, desire and need taking over your body.
Running your fingers through his hair, you press his face into the other side of your neck. Both men latching on to you, licking and sucking at your skin has your pussy pulsing at the reality you’re in.
Exhaling a shaky breath, you feel Tsukki’s hands run up your thigh, exploring your body as he hums against your neck. While Kuroo’s tongue drags up your jaw and licks into your mouth, swallowing down your quiet gasp.
“Hey, Glasses,” Kuroo whispers, gently cupping his hand under Tsukishima’s chin and turning his face to look at him. “Kiss her,” he instructs.
Tsukki’s wide eyes meet yours as Kuroo turns Tsukki’s face to look at you. Releasing his grip, Kuroo leans back, letting the two of you have a moment with each other while he watches on.
Breathing heavily into the space between your bodies, your eyes dance around each others faces, not believing this is actually happening, but both wanting this for so long that you take the opportunity to finally give into your suppressed feelings.
Lightly cupping your jaw, he leans in slowly, his sweet honey eyes fixed on your lips as he inches closer, softly pressing his lips to yours.
Your eyes flutter closed, at the chaste kiss. Feeling the warmth of his hand on your face and the plush of his lips, you melt into him. Slowly wrapping your arms around him, pulling him into you.
“Like you mean it, Glasses,” Kuroo quietly encourages Tsukishima.
Swiping his tongue over your bottom lip, you let him in. Letting him lick inside your mouth and tangle his tongue with yours in a deep, passionate, I’ve been wanting to do this for years, long kiss.
It’s electric. He’s body on yours, your hands in his hair, everything you’ve wanted is in this one kiss and you don’t want it to end. Stars dance behind your lids as he presses you into the cushions. His tongue dancing inside your mouth, his lips sucking at yours, he tastes like the sweet candy he was eating during the movie. And you can’t get enough.
Moaning into Tsukki’s mouth you feel Kuroo kiss your bare shoulder. Sending a shiver down your spine as his hand gently gropes your breast. As long as you have been waiting to kiss Tsukki, Kuroo’s lips on your skin bring you back to the present. Reminding you of his presence, and that he is your boyfriend, he grabs your chin and directs your lips to his. His familiar lips and taste all swirling around you, kissing your open mouth as Tsukishima watches.
“Don’t forget about me, pretty,” he whispers into your mouth.
His hand leaves your chest and slides up Tsukishima’s arm, tangling his fingers in his short blond locks.
“And you,” he breathes. “Save some for me,” he smirks, pulling Tsukishima towards him and licking into his mouth.
Tsukishima stiffens, his eyes wide as Kuroo’s lips take his, shocked at the attack he’s made on him. But then, his body relaxes as you kiss his long neck. Pressing your lips to his skin his eyes flutter closed and he moves his lips against Kuroo’s, letting your boyfriend into his mouth.
Pulling back, you look on as the two men you’ve fallen in love with make out in front of you. It’s so hot and the warmth between your legs heats up as you drag your hands down their chests, palming both of their erections over the fabric of their pants. Panting as they pull apart, their eyes narrow in on you, moaning at your touch.
“Fuck, pretty, you’re gonna make me cum right here,” Kuroo groans, pressing his forehead to yours as you rub him.
Looking over at Tsukki through the strands of your hair you see him biting his lip. His eyes, closed, his cheeks, flushed. He’s beautiful.
“Come on,” Kuroo grabs your hand and pulls you off the couch. “You too,” he nods to Tsukishima.

coffee or tea?? (pt.2) ((actually it has v little to do with their drink orders i just had thoughts))
both ushijima and kita were instructed in how to traditionally prepare tea, and to this day, when they make tea, all of the steps are religiously followed and the tea is always japanese and very high quality - not really pretentiously so, they were both just taught the importance of quality when it comes to tea. they both have different brands that they are loyal to that they drank growing up, but when they get together for tea they will exceptionally drink the others' preferred brand. kita will also drink commercial tea if that's all that's available, like at a restaurant or at someone else's house, he's not such a stickler. however, if ushi doesn't have his tea setup, he also quite likes drinking fruit juice. i don’t know why he does, but this came to me in a vision~
iwaizumi is a green tea loyalist, hot or cold day or night, and oikawa tends to drink green tea as well, but he’ll get elaborate sugary coffee drinks when he’s out that iwa will pretend to be disgusted by (tooru offers him sips without saying anything and iwa accepts every time) (they both wrinkle their noses at super sweet matcha lattes tho)
kuroo drinks black coffee, no sugar - hot in the mornings, but any other time of day he prefers an iced americano. when he started drinking coffee during high school in cafes with friends he ordered black coffee just for the pun with his name and he hated it at first but didn’t want to admit that he only ordered it for a lame pun so he stuck with it and now he’s addicted and he can’t tell if he actually likes black coffee or if he’s tricked himself into not minding the bitterness
akaashi takes his coffee with a very sensible 2 creams and 2 sugars. for some reason everyone in the office thinks akaashi takes his coffee black, and always bring that back for him, so he stared keeping cream and sugar at his desk.
both kuroo and akaashi are the kind of people that need a cup of coffee (or several) before they’re functioning in the morning. they’ll both sit silently hunched over at the table cradling their mugs, and it kinda freaks bokuto out because they’re like zombie versions of his boyfriends. through trial and error he’s figured out kuroo will accept pre-coffee kisses with only minor grumbling but it’s best to give akaashi his space in the morning
without adults monitoring him, bokuto drinks hot chocolate every morning, even tho he's lactose intolerant. akaashi had been trying in vain to convince him to at the very least replace the milk with water, but when that didn't work he just started buying oat milk without saying anything, and that seems to have resolved the issue
kenma obviously has an energy drink addiction, mostly the original redbull, but kuroo bought him the watermelon flavour once because of the colour, and he didn’t hate it as much as he thought he would so now he’ll have one of those from time to time. the bin in his room is somehow always overflowing with empty cans, and more than a few people have expressed their concern but kenma can't for the life of him understand why they're so worried

contrary to popular belief, your roommate is actually afraid of horror movies.
yes, kuroo testurou is scared of horror movies.
“cmon, tetsu. i heard it isn’t that scary.”
“it’s literally an insidious movie. what do you mean it isn’t that scary?!”
despite trying his best to protest your film choice for your weekly friday movie nights, kuroo lost as insidious: the red door started playing. gripping one of the cushions from the couch, kuroo secretly tries to divert his attention to other things instead of focusing on the movie.
“wait, bathroom break,” he suddenly says, standing up from his seat.
“if this is your way of escaping, i swear.”
“hey! i am a changed man. if you say it isn’t that scary, then maybe it isn’t.”
oh, how he was so wrong with that. it turns out it was actually that scary. when the mri scene came up, kuroo was gripping the cushion harder than before, trying hard not to pull it up because he knew he would be contradicting his words earlier.
but even if kuroo didn’t block his view with that cushion, he still let out a high-pitched scream.
you immediately paused the movie after that scene, unable to hold back your laughter anymore. and you swear, kuroo’s ears are as red as his jersey back when he was in high school due to embarrassment.
“let’s please pretend that didn’t happen.” he groans.
“i don’t think i’ll be able to watch another insidious movie the same way because of you.”
“oh, come on! you saw that! weren’t you scared?”
“i was, but that went away sooner due to your loud ass scream.”
although yes, what he did was pretty embarrassing, and you’re probably going to piss him off and never let him forget that for as long as he can remember, these are one of the many moments where kuroo is grateful he has you by his side.
-
“what’s the movie for this week?”
“probably gonjiam: haunted asylum. why do you ask?”
“isn’t that... another horror movie?” he nervously asks.
“yeah, it is.” you replied, already searching for the movie so that you could play it when both of you were ready.
“maybe we should’ve stuck to the idea of switching turns of picking the movie every week.”
“mind you, doing it monthly was your idea, tetsu.”
“only you and god knew that you were going to pick out horror films for this month!”
you didn’t respond to him after that, and instead got up to check up on the popcorn. “i hate you.” he mumbles, face in his hands. both of you knew that he didn’t really mean it, and that he actually enjoys these weekly movie nights because you both had each other while watching it.
“uh-huh. sure you do.”
