The thought of Amelia/Alfred declaring independence and then being immediately thrust into parenthood appeals to me. Imagine if you will shortly after the Revolution the emergence of State Personifications coming about with each admission to the Union (Delaware was the first one). Whether they appear miraculously or are birthed via (unwilling) parthenogenesis (which I prefer) the bottom line is that suddenly America has all these kids to take care of, all of who grow up just as fast as America did. Regardless of how they came to be or how fast they grow, America loves them with his/her whole being and creates a system in which they are always protected and accounted for by the larger government. America promises to be there for them the way England never was.
Then fast forward to the Civil War, and America is waging a bloody war against half of her/his children that see hundreds of thousands of their people dead. Brother against brother, father against son, cousin against cousin. And each secession feels like a small death because they are part of America just as much as America is a part of them, practically inseparable, or at least America thought so. To add even more complexity, not all of America's children were white or white-passing. America being neglected because s/he was to far away or denied certain rights for not being British enough was bad on its own, but imagine your parent not being able to claim you or fully protect you or give you basic human rights without public/social/political backlash because your skin is darker and you're legal property in half the country. Or imagine having powerful politicians who want to keep people who look like your children in bondage and you have to compromise with them to keep the Union whole, knowing the opinions they would have if they even knew you had children who were black (some of them do know and make sure their opinions are known). Or your other children starting a war to selfishly keep this system in place at the expense of their black siblings. The relationship between America and his/her children, with America acting as both the federal government that protects the states as well as the greater whole that represents the Union and the states as the children, each an extension of America, an integral part of America's being, pushing back against the sometimes overbearing hovering of their parent, impeding on states rights (whether they believe America is in the right or not) and protecting others and sometimes America will helplessly throw his/her hands in the air and say "fine, ill let YOU decide on this issue because I am not a dictator, despite what some of you like to think, but if you fuck up im stepping in" because America doesn't want to make the same mistakes England made in the past but then America has to deal with the negative consequences of her/his children's actions when they do something unbelievably stupid while trying not to seem like a fire-breathing tyrant. Which, they end up thinking anyway, regardless if America wasn't entirely in the wrong about butting in and taking hold of the situation before it escalated. The negative reaction only serves to make America step away AGAIN so as to not seem completely authoritarian in their eyes. It's a never-ending cycle. Not to mention the complex relationships the states have with each other, especially the southern states among themselves and the southern vs northern states rivalry.
Edit:
also whenever America takes his/her eyes off the states for 1mili second to see what the rest of the world is up to (hopefully not another world war) while usually being like 'back off, geeze! 🤬' America's children immediately switch to 'how come you're not paying attention to ME instead 🥺 you always focus on the world instead of ME 😢'

It isn't advisable to get a puppy when you have dogs with anxiety or aggression. Your dogs have issues that they will teach to that puppy, whether they mean to or not, and the puppy will learn their bad habits and neurosis and fear responses whether it wants to or not. It's unfortunately quite selfish to do that to a dog that could otherwise have a healthier upbringing. I have a rescued dog and know I can't get a puppy while I have her bc of her anxiety. My friend rescued a dog and made that mistake and that puppy is picking up all the bad habits of the first dog. It's sad to see the quality of life decline for that puppy who is picking up all this fear. Life is long and there is plenty of time to get a puppy when you don't have a home full of anxiety dogs.
i’ve raised 100+ puppies with these three dogs and what you’re saying is just not true. or if it is, it’s not true 100% of the time and not true if you actively train to prevent that. not only that, but my dogs aren’t aggressive. not quite sure where you got that? one is fear reactive. that’s it (and anxiety isn’t contagious? huh???)
i know plenty of people who have one neurotic dog and one not. and plenty of people who have a dog with anxiety who still got a temperamentally sound puppy that has done just fine.
i’ve never heard of or been told not to get a puppy because 2/3rds of my dogs are neurotic, so calling me selfish for doing something i wouldn’t know is wrong is a bit of an asshole move anon.
you don’t know my dogs. they’re perfectly calm in the home except some reactive barking, which we have been actively working on. they’re well enough behaved they can go out in public, to eat dinner at outdoor spaces, etc. with no issues.
i’m gonna enjoy my puppy, thanks!

Wow me, drawing Jersey? Craazzzyyyyy
Anyway, I had an original design for this type of look on the Ipad, ended up not looking at it once since I apparently have memory. Kinda glad I didn't since I could go just by memory and figure it out as I went along ya know. (ps, for those who don't normally read tags just like, please do, i put so many lil things in there lolz)
Okay SO, I have this lil headcanon, nothin big, that Jersey didn't used to wear shorts until like 2000 or something, maybe a bit before then. This is because he has some scars on his legs, just from over the years, and wearing shorts not only shows those but also make it easier for him to get scrapes and such.
He was fine wearing shorts around NY, Del, and Rhode, occasionally Mass as well if he happened to be around at the time. He couldn't wear them around anyone else for a long time, some scars had Memories(tm) attached to them, some good most bad, so he just never wore shorts.
He's gotten a lot more comfortable wearing them around the other states over the years, mainly because of Covid where Mass unfortunately wouldn't let him keep wearing the same two pairs of pants. So he's fine now, if still a lil uncomfortable around some states (the west mainly), you just won't see him wearing them until it's the first day over 60 in state.
Anyway I love NJ but this isn't surprising, I live here. I am NOT a simp for this bitch, he's my state, I have to like him, 'sides who else would I attach to? Pennsylvania? Florida? Or god forbid NEW YORK!? Absolutely not, that's sacrilegious that is.

there. Sanders Sides as the cast of Dracula:
Logan as John (Jack) Seward, M. D. — skeptical man of science who thinks he’s all rational when he actually just has many repressed feelings.
Roman as Arthur Holmwood, Lord Godalming — he’s rich and perfect and nobility and romantic enough to get the love interest.
Patton as Lucy Westenra — sweet, caring, loved by everyone. idk.
Remus as Quincey P. Morris — listen… i don’t know. i just wanted Remus as the surprising cowboy in the english vampire novel. he likes to shoot things.
Virgil as Jonathan Harker — traumatized man who needs therapy but it’s okay because he has friends that love him. carries a knife everywhere.
Janus as Dracula — hmmm. evil. gaslight gatekeep girlboss. likes scheming even if it takes months or years for his plan to be fulfilled (or fail miserably) Virgil/Jonathan hates him and would stab him given the chance.
Bonus that i would draw if i had the patience:
Joan as Mina Harker — also loved by everyone, the actual braincell, “i am the train fiend” sounds like something joan would say, too.

fr… maybe it’s like a demographic thing? like as an American from Texas (not El Paso though), I just always assumed Eddie enlisted at like 18 because that’s what you do when you’re 18 and you suddenly need to support a family because there aren’t a lot of other options, and (controversially) it’s a really understandable choice? the military recruits HARD and specifically targets POC and poor kids so he would’ve known the benefits that came with enlisting. hell he was probably able to meet with a recruiter at school, they came to my high school at lunch all the time.
Like, I'm not from the US and enlisting here is mandatory for men (you probably won't have to serve if you don't want to but you have to enlist), but I do know the type, and Eddie fits the profile. Even more when you look at the benefits that come with being in the army over there (those I did look up because I got curious), I think it makes sense for an 18 yo to just decide to enlist, because that would guarantee that Shannon would have everything she needed for the pregnancy, you get bonuses for being married and shit, I can see why he would go there because it would be the job that would give Shannon the most benefits right off the bat, but that's a leap a teenager would make. And if recruiting really does go as hard as I've seen stories, and I do believe it does, for him to just enlist fresh out of high school makes so much sense, I seriously don't understand how that was not the general consensus. Maybe you're right and it is a demographic thing. Because I did make the assumption because I know guys that present themselves the way Eddie first presents himself and it made me think about him with that in mind, I think maybe you would have to know something similar to just assume that (I did have a couple of hs friend that I was with her in a clinic because she thought she was pregnant and he had to go to base so like, I could see the story pretty clearly even tho my friends didn't end having a kid)

Hmmm maybe the Ellie/Sarah single dad fic could be something dramatic, but fit for modern times. Like Joel and the girls witness a serious crime and have to leave Texas and enter into the witness protection program because of it. They end up being relocated to Jackson and have to figure out how to start new lives. I'm all for just fluff though. I can never get enough of that 💗
omg a witness protection program au………i’m into this it’s super interesting & love how it ties in jackson
