Thinking about Bakugou being nervous to introduce you to his family for the first time. And it’s not because he’s embarrassed of you, or worried about what they might think. He already knows his mother will adore you, Mitsuki’s spent so many years chewing his ear off about finding the perfect partner and now he’s done it. And his father will just be happy to see him settled with someone that he loves, Masaru often worrying about his son as the number two hero.
The real reason why Bakugou has never introduced you to his parents is because he likes having you all to himself.
You’re like that safe haven that he returns home to after all the dangers he faces each day at work, the constant that grounds him and makes him happy. It’s selfish really, how he keeps you so close to his chest. And it doesn’t make sense when he starts to realise how upset it makes you that he hasn’t introduced you to his family yet, how he hasn’t let you in to that part of his life. He shared stories with you about his childhood, about his home life, but nothing quite compares to seeing the home and meeting the people who raised him.
“It’s okay, Katsuki.” You hum softly as you take his sweaty palm in your own so tenderly, stopping him from bouncing from toe to toe as you immediately ground him.
The door opening to find both his parents on the other side, his mother almost knocking him to the floor to swoop you into her arms.
“Ah, you must be the beautiful girl my sons been hiding from us for all this time,” Mitsuki captures you in a welcoming hug, while Masaru clamps a reassuring hand on Bakugou’s shoulder, “You know I was starting to think I’d never get grandchildren.”
And now Bakugou wonders what he was ever nervous about.
Watching from the kitchen as his mother lays a photo album on your lap, pointing out photographs of him as a young child, pictures of him dressed as Dynamight, first day of school, Christmases, and first swimming lessons.
“He used to be terrified of water, you know.” Mitsuki grins as she points at a particular picture, “He’s always hated the rain, even to this day.”
“He was so cute,” You coo, letting your fingers run over the smooth plastic covering the photos as you give each one your attention.
“He still would be if he got rid of that scowl,” Mitsuki continued, “And look, this one he refused to put his swimming trunks on so he just ran around the house naked—“
“You old hag,” Bakugou growled from the kitchen, although the words carried no real malice, not anymore. Almost dropping his mug of tea in embarrassment as you laughed beside her, “Not those damn photos.”
“Oh come on, it’s not like she hasn’t seen you naked, you brat.”
“She got the naked ones out again, huh?” Masaru chuckled beside him as he continued to plate dessert.
“Damn woman.” He mumbles beneath his breath, unable to resist your silent plea for him to join you as you raise your hand to beckon him over.
There’s just something special, intimate when Bakugou opens his life up to you like this. He could quite happily keep you to himself, but his family and friends deserve to have you in their lives too. The light that radiates from you deserves to be shared and cherished.

Sinnoh Elite Four Headcanons (Pt 1)
Aaron:
is the youngest in his family, has an older sister
childhood besties with maylene
his parents don’t approve of him being an Elite.
still sleeps with a burmy doll even though he's eighteen.
his breakfast consists of sugary cereal and heaps of coffee.
even if there are chairs readily available in the room, he will gladly sit on the floor ("the carpet is so comfy, Cynthia!")
Bertha:
is an only child. she sees the resemblance between her and Agatha, but frankly, she cannot stand the old hag.
the name "Terrence" is difficult for her to hear.
she always cooks for her elites, and they cannot get enough of it.
she never had children, but that doesn't mean she wasn't a mother.
she has given advice to plenty of league members even outside of the region, holding seminars since she's been doing this for thirty years and counting.
it was not her dream to become an elite, but life had other plans.
Flint:
is a twin. He has a twin sister named Flara whom he does not get along with, and a little brother Buck.
has the most stable family compared to his colleagues - which, he thinks, says an awful lot.
has picked up a bad habit with smoking due to a certain electric-type gym leader.
when he loves, he loves hard - and when he crashes, he crashes hard.
he does well with formal debates and battling with his Pokemon, but likes to throw punches himself instead.
his type of lover only consists of one person in particular ("Your eyes are home to me.")
Lucian:
has a younger brother, Will - yes, that one - by fifteen years. both of them have psychic powers, and their parents do not.
claims to have sworn off sentimental feelings entirely, however, his usual cold tone softens around cynthia, will, and bertha (the list will expand, but more on that later)
people think he doesn't have psychic powers, but he does - he just doesn't wish to show it off like that pesky little brother of his.
books keep him calm, until they don't - suddenly, there's a lamp exploding and his eyes glowing blue behind the tinted shades.
he gets frequent headaches and migraines due to his abilities, the shades help.
"I don't need friends." "Do you have any?" "Cynthia." "Just Cynthia?" "Just Cynthia." (But of course, he would learn he had more)
Cynthia:
info dumps about mythology because she absolutely does.
when she first became champion, there were rumors among sinnohnians about her hair clips that they were tails from two umbreon that she massacred herself.
thoroughly enjoys bitter herbs.
likes to go berry picking with her garchomp
as a child she actually wasn't that interested in archaeology until she had reached her teens.
a social butterfree, yes, but sometimes even a social butterfree has to recharge

I know my last report is so long...and technically, I could've summarized so many of those info in shorter paragraphs.
But it's all intentional. I really wanted to write their dialogues out as far as possible, because I've noticed something in the fandom. I'm pretty sure this is not limited to CLAMP but to 'public figures' in general, especially on the internet.
I've noticed a sort of tendency to dehumanize these four women. Sometimes I come across comments that make my skin crawl. People calling them names, insults, "these old hags", people who think these four women should only live to satisfy the fandom's hunger for content, or their fetishes. They don't consider (and even if they do, they do not seem to know what the words 'be indulgent' mean) these are four human beings who have their lives, wishes, preferences, shortcomings, health problems, or even not a 100% great mental space.
I admit I have "joked" with heavy terms in private too, in the past. But lately, especially after they started to open the Twitter Spaces, showing their more "raw, genuine side" to us, and ever since my JP skills allowed me to understand them better, I can't bring myself to do that anymore. It might be because I'm getting old too and I understand painfully well what it means to begin having problems related to age (for memory or even physical pain), and the love and care (and often pain) that lie behind a piece of artwork, but I just can't help empathizing with them. Hearing them joking among each other, knowing how much they care for one another like sisters, hearing them talking so humbly about their work even after such a long time, getting to know when they're feeling sick and knowing their struggles because on the workplace they're like a machine that can work well only if all the components are in good condition...it really really makes you realize how human they are.
I think the turning point for me was when I heard one of the personal Spaces Ohkawa opened every morning for a week, while she was having breakfast, talking about various topics. In one of the firsts, she apologized because you could hear the noise of the washing machine working on the background. It struck me so powerfully. This is not some kind of unapproachable, inaccessible person living on another existential plane, this is a normal, regular human being who writes stories for a job but who's got to do laundry like every other regular person on this earth. They might drink champagne and go to fancy restaurants (but Ohkawa in particular is a fan of McDonald's too) but that doesn't mean that they lost their humanity.
And I found myself not wanting to partake in this stupid game of dehumanizing them anymore. Actually, with my translations, I want to try to make people see what I see too. Make them feel the "vibe" through their own words, because you can understand so much of them through the words they often use. Ohkawa might look like this merciless and whimsical boss, but she actually just loves the stories she envisioned very much, and she's ready to go through a shitstorm to defend her choices on the workplace.
She just feels a bit guilty that when there's criticism of her choices, the work of her colleagues gets dragged down along, but they're all in this together and they stick to one another tightly.
I can only do these translations when it's about CCS because they're exhausting to me and take me so much time, so my "brainrot" helps me push through to finish them. But at least for that, I want to try to do this, when I can.

I saw your prison Floyddle ( Floyd x Riddle) art and I was wondering what kind of Floyd x Riddle headcanons?
Hi Anon! We love Floyd/Riddle very much, even though we don’t post about them all that often. To be honest, I had to think about your question, because whenever I think about these two, the only thought I have is “hehe size difference”, and I think it describes them perfectly lol I also wasn’t sure if you wanted Floyd/Riddle headcanons in general or something about them from our Prison AU. So have a little bit of both (as always, some of them are spicier than the others):
Regular:
1. Floyd absolutely adores Riddle. This is probably the closest he’s ever felt to having a crush on someone, and the longest too. There is no tenderness or fluffiness in his feelings, just pure amusement mixed with obsession, but it’s not his fault that Goldfishie just keeps being so fun to tease and cute to look at. His arms are like little twigs..!
2. Floyd definitely invited Riddle over to play videogames at least once. He got jealous and moody when he’s heard that Azul got to see Riddle being confused about the buttons on the game controller…
3. If they’re dating, eventually Riddle would want to introduce Floyd to his mother, because it feels like a proper thing to do, but at the same time, everybody knows that this is a horrible idea. And it would indeed go horribly because they would hate each other: Floyd embodies everything Riddle’s mother despises. And Floyd would be an asshole about it too, being rude to her just because the old hag pissed him off. Riddle’s mother would probably call a police…
4. Floyd is self-indulgent, very kinky in an animalistic “I wanna try this random thing that just came to my mind” way, and with Riddle he’s always overflowing with ideas. It’s almost disturbing how he just can’t get enough of him and how random his actions are when he gets excited after just one kiss.
5. Riddle isn’t all that innocent either. Of course, he would never even think about doing something naughty, and Floyd’s behaviour is absolutely appalling to him, but he definitely enjoys it… even though he’d want you to think otherwise. I guess, when it comes to sex, Floyd just brings out the worst in him. Which is good in Riddle’s case. So yeah, their size kink is a mutual thing with them.
Prison AU
1. Floyd didn’t expect his imprisonment to be this fun, he almost felt bummed out when Jade arrived to get him out, because messing with his poor guard was just too much fun. Especially with all the flirting and sex they inevitably ended up having ahem
2. Riddle is very conflicted about Floyd. He doesn’t like him and is scared of him, but he also keeps coming back to him even when it’s not his shift. In fact, sometimes he decides that he wants to ask someone else to patrol this particular area of the prison, but then gets mad thinking about him and comes back to yell at him… a vicious cycle. Riddle rationalizes this by saying that no one in this building can handle Floyd but him.
3. Floyd started flirting with Riddle right away, but Riddle thought that Floyd is just threatening him or teasing him at first. In fact, he probably still doesn’t fully believe that Floyd’s been flirting with him this whole time.
4. Floys is definitely going to come back to prison to see Riddle again at least once. He really wanted to see him freak out because of it…
5. Riddle legitimately has no idea how the heck and when their relationship turned sexual. It’s a blur. The tension was just too strong.

forty days and forty nights (day five!)
(hello my lil cherry blossoms <3 we’re almost at a week! i have many things planned for the future, whether good or bad. happy reading :)
(read them all here!)
“medium black coffee for dynamight.”
“are you at least gonna let me say my own damn order?” dynamight scoffed.
“are you ever gonna change it?” you counter.
“why would i?” dynamight frowned.
“variety is the spice of life, isn’t it?”
“variety is stupid. just give me the black coffee.”
“right away, dynamight.”
dynamight sat down at his seat, scoffing as you made his coffee with a grin that may or may not have been totally smug.
“quit looking at me like that.” he said when you presented him with the mug.
“like what?” you blinked. you weren’t looking at him in any particular way— at least, not to your knowledge.
“quit looking at me with those eyes of yours.” he scowled.
“okay..?” you answered hesitantly, before leaving to go take the order of another customer who’d come in.
with those eyes of mine? you thought with a frown. what’s that mean? was i glaring?
you quickly snap out of it, smiling at the customer as you tell them their total. you study the computer screen as they swipe their credit card before turning back to make their drink (iced latte, one pump of vanilla syrup, caramel drizzle).
“there you are. have a good one,” you smile as you hand the customer their drink. they smile back at you before exiting the cafe, leaving you to your own thoughts.
you wanted to go back to dynamight, but it felt slightly awkward when he seemed so irritated with you. maybe he wasn’t really irritated. maybe he was faux irritated, like he was those times where he’d playfully tell you to shut up. but what if he wasn’t?
better safe than sorry.
you come out from behind the counter and approach mrs. hatsugawa.
mrs. hatsugawa… you mused. you always found it interesting that she chose to be addressed by mrs., despite her husband having passed away. it was romantic, in a bittersweet sort of way.
“would you like more tea, mrs. hatsugawa?” you ask politely, making sure to speak loud enough that she could hear you. the white-haired woman looked up at you and smiled.
“that would be wonderful. and do talk to your boyfriend. he looks lonely.” she replied.
“he’s only a customer, mrs. hatsugawa,” you correct gently. you recall your conversation from yesterday. she seemed dead set on her conclusion.
“give it time.” mrs. hatsugawa chuckled, looking at dynamight from across the room fondly. dynamight noticed immediately, and for a moment, looked totally baffled, glancing around as though to think, is this old hag looking at me? before scowling and looking back at his coffee.
“i’ll go get your tea.” you interject, carefully taking her teacup. “do you want a new cup, or do you want me to use this one?”
“the same cup is alright, dear. less dishes for you.” mrs. hatsugawa replied thoughtfully.
“thank you.” you smile. “i’ll do that now, then.” you return to the counter, making a beeline for the tea where, either fortunately or unfortunately, was right by dynamight’s seat. you open a brand new box of oolong tea, glancing at dynamight briefly.
“the hell was that old crone looking at me for?” he asked suddenly.
“no reason.” you answer, seeing no reason yourself to tell him that she thinks you’re in love with him. “she was just curious about you is all.”
“hah? the hell’s she curious about?” dynamight glared at mrs. hatsugawa before returning his attention to you.
“just who you are.” you lie quickly as you set a teabag in the cup. “i think she knows you’re a hero.”
“duh. everyone knows i’m the number one hero. except you, apparently.” dynamight scoffed. you laugh. so he wasn’t mad at you after all.
“i do now.” you remind him, pouring the hot water over the teabag.
“only because i had to tell your dumbass.”
“yeah, yeah.” you reply playfully. “i’ll be right back, i’m gonna bring this to mrs. hatsugawa.”
“that’s the old crone?”
“she’s a lady, not a crone.”
“fine, old lady, whatever.” somehow, the term “lady” was just as derogatory coming from dynamight. you simply smile, silently reminding yourself that you’re on the job as you return to mrs. hatsugawa, presenting her with her tea as she thanks you.
“tell him he’s a great hero for me.” mrs. hatsugawa smiles.
“of course, mrs. hatsugawa,” you nod. “anything else for you?”
“that will be all, dear.” she smiled, and you return to the counter.
“she says she thinks you’re a great hero.” you relay her message.
“‘course i am. i’m number one.” he huffs.
“that you are.”
“quit looking at me with those eyes of yours.”

deliriously in love with your dgm fanart. i stumbled into a full course buffet. exquisite, splendid, 10/10 no notes. do you have any DGM fic recs, bc i have suitcases full of DGM recs,
ok first of all thank you so much!! dgm is i think the thing i've drawn the most fanart for in my life cumulatively? in many bursts of insanity over the years. lol. so i have a lot of fun drawing it and i'm very honored that you like what i've made so much. also re: your other ask my worstie and collaborator ozwuv and i are working on it together since you sent it to both of us (we made a joint google doc to combine our perspectives lol) so the answer might not come from me but you'll get one!
second of all i am kind of an old livejournal era hag in terms of my taste in fanfiction in general and my history with this series in particular, so there are exactly three things in here that are less than a decade old and two of them are from 2016. naturally this means that a lot of it is now divergent with some details of how the plot and characterization and etc has actually gone (sorry to everyone back in the day who thought kanda was looking for some missing sister or something. one truly could not have possibly seen all of that coming). that said they still hold up to me in terms of general character dynamics and being fun and well written and such. recommendations also depend on what you like! i will generally not put that much shipping in here because there aren't that many of those i've read and would recommend in the first place (no hate to our strong and beautiful yaoi warriors, i used to read nearly anything back in the day, it's just that not too much of it has stuck with me) but there are some things that are so iconic to me that i could not in good conscience not include them. lots of this is kanda-centric because i like him :) putting it all below the cut
Hard Living by metisket - the aforementioned ship fic that's too iconic not to include. changed my brain chemistry when i first read it many many years ago. i seriously considered making it the only thing i put on here for a second just for the bit. To Me this is actually such a classic that it transcends shipping. the humor is very sharp and funny and i'm so in love with the concept of dying young for them meaning getting old early first and having to deal with it all together. they're so damn hilarious. it should happen to them. it does in my dreams. it never will but in my head there will always be a world where it does <3 i love to draw fanart of them as old decrepit men at 35 and maybe i'll post some of it someday. obviously it was written pre-alma so you just have to accept that it's wildly inaccurate in that regard. anyway pretty much anything this author has written for dgm is really good, i will put a few more metisket favorites on this list but check it all out even if i didn't include it. also this particular one is the inspiration for my most favoritest kanda fic <3 below
Blooming From the Mud by zarinthel - this is not just me shilling fic by someone i know. i am an absolute kanda diehard and this is really THE fic for me in terms of like hitting all the things i love about him. zar number one kanda understander. incredibly funny and compelling i don't care if you don't know anything about bleach (i don't either i haven't read it since middle school) or that you haven't read the fic it's inspired by (though you should) or that it's unfinished. you all should and in fact must read it. kanda's life is both so sad and so hilarious because of how sad it is and his pov here is just so excellently funny because he really is such a funny individual. also not a slash fic though it does really highlight how close and kind of insane his and allen's relationship is in a way that i find extremely delightful and accurate and just wonderful. they make me sick (positive). really good. so if you're a non shipper but you care about them you should read it and if you're a shipper you will also certainly enjoy it anyway so you should read it. truly for everyone!
Chimera Obscurant by moonsheen - i tend to struggle with most kanda/alma fix-it fanwork i've encountered despite loving them dearly because i rarely feel like anyone evokes the way their relationship is both strong and a bit unsettling (at least to me) without swinging around into being too edgy (i fully admit i have not explored super deeply because i get frustrated easily so i'm sure there are things that would appeal to me that i'm missing). this is one of the very few things i've read for them that i've been like yes i think this is beginning to get at the kind of atmosphere i want to see. if i remember correctly this was written before kanda came back to drag allen into accepting support and friendship so i'm just like "oh whatever" about its incompatibility with that. fanwork for ongoing stuff truly creates divergent timelines in my head. anyway this is the most nsfw thing that will end up in here and it's not particularly explicit, but heads up that it is there in case you're averse to that
In his Heart by harukami - another kanda/alma but just kanda technically. i read this and was so delighted that i made a :D face in real life. i've assimilated this into my worldview like i think this is something he would do. he's crazy like that.
Economies of Scale by liketolaugh - last kanda and alma one but this one's here less for the romantic aspect and more because i'm so endeared by the idea of fresh out of the lab kanda being so angry and miserable but also completely blindsided by all the stuff there is in the world. ten year old who is learning about so many new animals. really funny and cute and sad.
siblings, probably by scarlet666 - this one's for the kanda and lenalee enthusiasts. the best friends lovers. i love them so dearly i put the level of energy people usually put into shipping into their bestie-isms so naturally this was for me. huge shoutout to this person for writing 20k words about them if nobody else in the world has my back i know they do. i have the memory of a goldfish and this is long enough that i can't really scan quickly to refresh my memory and make more detailed comments but i know it deserves a spot on here. my note from when i bookmarked it just reads AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH but i never leave a comment in that field at all usually so that speaks volumes i think. life is so beautiful sometimes. peace and love on planet earth <3
Welcome Home by metisket - for the rest of this list i am about to hit you with the metisket beam. the author whose work i most fondly remember from my youth by far, which means that's what's stuck with me and what half of my recs will be. i love this one dearly because i love a normal person perspective in insane anime settings type of fic and reever is so delightfully normal and longsuffering and also funny as hell. love how his relationship with komui is in this. not a ship fic and am not recommending it as such but it did make me in the back of my head go "komui/reever is almost like roy/riza without the war crimes for people who are cringefail mad scientist enthusiasts." sane responsible second in command type slash babysitter who is devotedly loyal to crazy irresponsible boss but also wants to kill him a little bit. they're so great to me
Growing Up by Accident by metisket - just so kanda and allen and the way their relationship is. having the exact same feelings about something but approaching it so differently that they want to attack each other. love them 4ever. the way metisket writes allen's internal voice is also delightful to me (like not JUST here but in general). he's so jaded and funny. probably my favorite allen to read out of anyone who writes him ever. and kanda is always just so...kanda.......<3
Sand Castle by metisket - (smiles and blood leaks from the side of my mouth) i love you allen walker. i love this look at allen's growth pre-series from cross' perspective and how he managed to become the hilarious twisted convoluted wonderful little freak that he is. allen is so.....everything to me truly i would never have it any other way. really kind of darkly funny but also like agonizingly emotional. delightful
Mask and Mirror by metisket - love this take on what the inside of lavi's head is like, and also the way all the character dynamics shine through even in such a short thing, they're all so wonderfully cute and funny. the sense of humor is really great. lenalee didn't even make a real appearance but even the brief mention of how she and kanda are had me giggling.
in the circus series by metisket - certified classic. i love timcanpy pov and this whole thing is just so emblematic of my fond memories of old dgm fanworks. i love anything that highlights the way they're all just so immensely fucked up to the point that it's actually incredibly absurd and funny. i'm pretty sure metisket's LJ has more mini outtakes from this series but i'm too lazy to dig through the dgm tag right now so i'll just link it so you can do it yourself if you're interested.
lastly if you're looking for someone to share your recs with you're free to! i am on a personal level picky as hell and my taste in styles and approaches to fanwork was forged in the livejournal mines and has not evolved with the times LOL but i also don't judge <3

They are just such precious, precious babies and I adore them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want to take that flute and cram it down the old hag's throat. What on earth, to remove someone's memories and emotions, without their consent, like some sort of supernatural roofier, because "I know best." UGHHHH rage!
Tumblr media
But you know what strikes me? Even with his love for her removed, even with his memories of their romantic interactions removed, Jin is just fundamentally a nice person. Here he thinks the contract she's talking about is master servant because he's forgotten about the wedding and is all "are you sure?" (And of course poor girl misunderstands.) I love that he doesn't just treat her well because he loves her (there is a lot of extra thrown on top because he loves her, but he treats her well because he treats a friend well or even a stranger who has not shown bad behavior. He's just a decent dude.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like, if you think about it, with his love removed, she's just a martial sister etc and yet he's all "OK this is weird but whatever" - he's the most high status person on this particular plane and he never ever ever shows it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then it all comes to a head and of course he's all of course I wouldn't marry you, marriage is serious business, I couldn't have agreed to it. But this is the part that really gets me. Because he does not get angry or snotty or even make excuses. He literally says "I do not remember but if I did anything improper, I am sorry." My heart breaks for those two babies who are gonna suffer because of the mind wipe but honestly, that is just consistently stellar ML behavior and I am totally shocked because I am used to snooty, brain dead, acting out MLs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Go, girl! But alas it does not work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And even if he doesn't remember his love, he doesn't allow the woman to put her down. YESSSS

Do you have any further opinions on Gendo and Shinji having some potentially not healthy views on women?
I'll see what I can come up with.
Tumblr media
Gendo uses multiple women throughout the story, but I'm not sure that indicates an unhealthy attitude toward women in particular. He exploits men, including his own son, just as readily.
I find his affairs with the Akagis hard to explain, because he seemed so laser-focused on his objectives, and so averse to forming any close relationships with anyone. Even if his relationships with the Akagis were purely physical for him, it still seems like the sort of thing he wouldn't indulge in... unless he thought it would bring him closer to what he actually wants.
I guess my personal theory is that he didn't seduce the Akagis, but they threw themselves at him, and he played along because he needed their talents too badly to risk pushing them away. Naoko was practically rooting for Yui to die in that accident, so it seems likely that she fell in love with Gendo while they worked together and made her move after Yui was out of the picture. Gendo might have rejected her, but he needed the Magi supercomputer that she was building.
Only after the Magi were completed did he turn against her, calling her a "useless old hag". I think he was counting on Rei to hear him saying it, and used her to provoke Naoko into doing something drastic. Although, considering how important Rei was to his plans, it seems odd that he'd put Rei in such a risky position.
In any event, Ritsuko watched the tail end of Naoko's relationship with Gendo and immediately decided she wanted next. This seems really foolish, considering Naoko's fate, but I get the impression that Gendo is this charismatic enigma, the sort who attracts people to his cause, in spite of his cold and repulsive personality. Maybe Ritsuko thought she could fix him, or she just found him fascinating and wanted a closer look. And so Gendo found himself in the same position all over again, playing along with a new lover to ensure her cooperation with his plans.
That doesn't make him blameless, of course. He saw these women offering themselves to him, and he used their infatuation to his advantage. I guess what I'm saying is that he didn't get entangled in those relationships because he was lonely or horny, or desperate to feel powerful. He just played along with them for as long as they were useful, and then discarded them when they ceased to be useful.
I'd say that probably explains his apparent closeness to Rei as well. They only get along well because he needs her for his plans, and she's willing to go along with literally anything he wants her to do.
But, again, I don't know that this has anything to do with their gender. If Rei were a boy, I don't think it would change much for him. If the Akagis were men, he'd probably still use their attraction to him to his advantage.
Regarding Shinji... man, I don't know.
Yesterday I watched a couple of old Folding Ideas videos about End of Evangelion. Dan Olson was talking about how the movie served as Hideaki Anno's "revenge" against obsessive fans who hated the original ending in Episodes 25 and 26. I think the "revenge" theory of EoE is still open to debate, but I still need to do more research into that. Anyway, Olson was pretty confident about it, since it explains how different Shinji is portrayed in each ending.
In EoTV, Anno used Shinji as a medium to explore his own psychological problems, and the ending is more positive. But in EoE, Anno uses Shinji to represent the emotionally stunted otaku he was so mad at. So in the movie, Shinji never "does anything" or "learns anything". He wallows in self-pity, demands Asuka's sympathy, and strangles her when he doesn't get it. He's a petulant child throughout the whole film, and the misogyny is on full display.
Olson explains that Shinji is useful for this sort of thing because he started out as the standard anime protagonist: a blank slate that the audience could project their own identities upon. By the end of the TV series, Anno could easily turn Shinji into his alter ego, and use him to express his own anxieties and fears. And when the otaku rejected this, it was like they wanted Shinji back the way he was so he could be their avatar instead, Anno granted their wish, making EoE-Shinji a representation of all of their worst qualities.
And that's an interesting interpretation, but what frustrates me is that it basically leaves no room for Shinji to be a character in his own right. He's just a vessel for whatever Hideaki Anno wants him to represent. If Anno is feeling introspective, he'll make Shinji in his own image. If he's mad at the otaku, he'll turn Shinji into a straw man.
And that makes it hard for me to really talk about Shinji's attitude towards women. Early in NGE, he basically behaved himself and seemed to prefer keeping his distance from girls, if only to avoid any awkwardness. Misato and Asuka kind of brought him out of his shell a bit, and then in EoTV he seems to rely on them to help him figure out his damage. In EoE he seems desperate for a woman-- any woman-- to make him feel happy, forever. If he can't have that, he'll either go limp or throw a fit.
I don't know what the throughline is with Shinji. If I understand commentators like Dan Olson correctly, there is no throughline with Shinji. He's just a placeholder for one psyche or another. Still, I suppose he's defined by the loss of his mother, and there's always this lingering temptation for him to think he can just retreat from his problems and take refuge in a woman's embrace. Early on, he's reluctant to accept Misato's hospitality and compassion, maybe because he can't believe it's genuine. Later, he starts to appreciate her more, and then he begins to take the women in his life for granted a bit. In EoTV, he pulls back from that mentality, but in EoE he sinks deeper into that false hope that a woman can make him safe and whole.
Am I making any sense here? I'm not sure.

I guess this is just what I do on this website now...
Ok lets Go!
One Piece, Law, and Femininity
Preface: Three warnings and a Request
Warning!!!
Let's get this out the way. I do ship Law and Luffy. That doesn’t matter to this particular theory/analysis but it's better to be upfront about one's personal biases. I don't think it's canon nor do I think it ever will be. But if anyone wants to use this for their own ship theories, have at it.
This writing “theory” I have doesn’t apply to children because they kind of inherently fall into a third category. Their age tends to naturally make them more vulnerable and in need of assistance. When it comes to gendered writing children tend to get a pass. There are many reasons why but that's not what this is about.
Sanji is a newer and only other expectation to this “theory”.  More on that at the end.
Request: If you don't think Yamato is a dude, this is not for you. The whole point of talking about feminism in this regard is to talk about how femininity is performed and perceived. Gender is a social construct and how we construct it is important to the feminine conversation. If you cant accept and understand that... read a few essays and come back later. Seriously I am talking about roles, behavior and presentations of gender here. Also I want to support my son (he’s older than me but, still).
Part 1: Oda Writes the Backstories of Female Characters the Same Way he Draws Them.
A lot of people push back on the idea that Oda only knows how to draw the same female character by pointing at characters like Big Mom or Dandan. So I would like to change the phrasing. Oda only knows how to draw attractive women characters one way. When they're old hags, he's got options. But if they’re even supposed to be mildly attractive then he’s got one option in a variety of colors and accessories. He writes their backstories in roughly the same way. They have a lot of big differences. I can honestly say most important people in one piece have unique and interesting back stories and goals. But the skeleton of almost all the women are the same. I only say almost because One Piece has a stupid amount of characters and there is a 10% chance that some minor character from some obscure island in East Blue somehow flew under my radar. But this rule does apply to all the main women characters. Let's talk about it.
1a. Oda Loves Taking Away Women's Autonomy.
Seriously Oda cannot resist putting women in positions where they are either slaves, or working in a group that they are opposed to, or living under constant threat of imprisonment, or some combination of those. Nami was enslaved at a young age by Arlong, Robin had to join CP9 because she needed protection from the world government and then almost got imprisoned by enies lobby. Vivi joined Cp9 to save her country. Hiyori spent years living with and presumably fxcking a man she hated hoping that one day someone else would be strong enough to defeat Kaido to get revenge. There are countless cases of women, specifically women, being sold to Celestial Dragons for the sole purpose of sexual slavery. Like shows up so fxcking often. Aces mom had to hold her child in her stomach for an extra 15  months to him from the marines and probably died because of it.  If Oda is writing an important woman character who is relatively young you better believe she spent years of her life not being in control of it. And if she's older, she either a mom of some kind or was a badass and settled down because some man in her life died, or both.
1b. Women Need to be Saved in Order to Achieve their Goals and Men Need to be Supported.
This is gonna be a little hard to explain but it all comes down to how problems are solved, who solves them and why. Kinda. I think the best way to explain it would be to give an example. Lets look at the first two members of the Strawhat Crew. Zoro’s goal is to be the strongest swordsman. Simple enough. He tries to fight Mihawk the moment they meet, he loses and swears to grow stronger and defeat him.  Nami has two goals, or more accurately she needs to accomplish one goal in order to achieve her true goal. Nami needs to get out from under Arlongs control in order to achieve her goal of mapping the whole world. She also wants her family to be able to live in peace and not be broke. Unless she accomplishes that first goal, she cannot accomplish the other two. She needs to be saved in order to continue her story. Because she’s  unable to save herself. Which is reasonable. She's just a person and Arlong is a super strong fish demon man. So Luffy saves her. He punches her problem away real good and she is now finally free to do what she wants. If you know anything about Laws character I'm sure you can see where this is going . Robin is the same, Luffy punches away the people that want to control her real good and declares that he will fight the entire world to let her have the chance to live freely.
I brought this up with my dad and he brought up a great point. Marineford. He said well Luffy lost pretty bad in the paramount war and needed to be saved by many people. Even costing him Ace. But, I would like to point out that the people who did that, Akainu and Blackbeard are still roaming free. Luffy needed to be saved in the moment but he’s still going to be the one to resolve the issue. Like Luffy, Zoro, Franky, Jinbei, and Brook have all needed saving at some point during a fight. But they always get to square up and finish the ones that are important to them. And their goals don't require them to be saved before trying to achieve them. The point comes down to who's allowed to deal with the finishing blow to their main goals/ problems. Luffy isn’t going to punch Mihawk for Zoror, or make Ussops dad respect him, or whatever the fuck Jinbei wants. But he did fight Arlong for Nami, Cp9 for Robin and Doffy for Law.
1c. Girls got to College to Get More Knowledge, Boys Go to Jupiter to Get More Stupider
The women of One Piece are objectively smarter than the men. Emotionally and Intellectually. Women in One Piece are normally more patient, less stubborn and willing to retreat when they have to. They also don’t get as love sick as the men. I mean Boa lets her feelings for Luffy get her into insane shit, but that's the joke. Like One Piece women aren’t really known for having someone's looks  affect them. There's a reason there is a most Beautiful Woman in the world with no male counterpart. Like Smoker is Zaddy and no one cares. Most of the guy characters who are overly sneaky and plotting are villains or assholes. That's not to say there aren’t smart men characters, Franky is a genius at his craft. But being smart and careful isn’t part of his character or reflected in his behavior.
Part II: Trafalgar D. Water Law,  The Saddest Little Uwu
I haven't loved Law since the first time I saw him. I have loved him since punk hazard though which is pretty fxcking long. His strong Emo vibes and general refusal to go along with any of Luffy’s bits seemingly for the sole sake of keeping up an image that not one present cared about really endured him to me. I’m pretty trad goth and he reminds me of those emo kids that refused to wear pink or be nice just because they thought it wasn’t hard core enough. Then as the show goes on he develops into one of those healthy goths who know that being an outsider is about showing vulnerability, kindness and maybe dressing in a lil pastel. I really like Law and his weird role in the story so far. Ok, my I love Law rants are done let's get to what we need to get to.
Law before One Piece:
Trafalgar D. Waterlaw was born in Fleavance. He lived a pretty happy normal life, a doctor father, nurse mother and cute baby sister. Until he was about 7 or 8? Around that time the town of fleavance started experiencing some unknown illness. I will say in our real world it is pretty similar to what silicosis actually does to you. Minus the Vitiligo and some other symptoms.  In the world of One Piece its called amber lead poisoning and its almost completely fatal if not properly treated Which is hard to do on its own. But it's even harder in Law's case since the neighboring towns and probably the world government didn't really know what amber lead poisoning was or how it spread either. So they said fxck it, burn it down, kill everyone and call it a day. Problem solved!
So yeah, Law's family is dead, he escaped Flevance by hiding among corpses, and now he is slowly and painfully dying.
Then it gets worse, it gets so much worse before it gets better. He pulls a Tim Drake and forces his way into the DonQuixote Family by threatening to kill himself and everyone else with a bomb. Because seeing everyone you know and love die painfully and then have the government cover that up will do that to you. Doffy sees a lot of himself in Law and decides, “yeah, this’ll do”.
Doffys’ nicer but objectively less cool younger brother Corazon also sees a lot of Doffy in Law and decides to immediately put a stop to that shit. He slowly and secretly teaches Law how to enjoy at least some aspects of life. Shows him the first and true affection he’s been shown since his entire village died. It ‘s great. And then, TLDR, Corazon decides to betray Doffy, gets caught, stuff the Ope- Ope Fruit down Law's Throat so he can cure himself and then get shot to Death after saying I love you to Law for what is seemingly the first and last time. Also Sengokou was there.
We don’t really have a clear idea what Law did after this but we do know a few things.
He became a pirate with the sole purpose of taking down Doflamingo
He seems to have chosen a submarine as a pirate ship in order to better hide from Doflamingo and also make it harder to attack him. Because Doffy is a devil fruit user. Even though Law is also a devil fruit user and this puts him in extreme danger. Especially since...
He made a crew of people who are seemingly doctors 1st, friends 2nd and fighter 6th. Like none of Laws crew members appear to be even mildly good at fighting. I’m pretty sure Chopper could take most of them.
He names his crew the Heart Pirates after Cora. Which implies that Spanish, just like real world Spanish, is canon in One Piece. And that also reminds me that Law is talking like a nun in his flashback. Is Law catholic? Or was he raised catholic? Either way it adds to the uwu and the trauma of it all. If you know, you know.
He started working with Caesar Clown, a man he fxcking hates. In order to get closer to Doflamingos secrety secrets.
Pre-time  Skip Law
I’m skipping when we see him in Sabaody because all we learn is that he's edgy and has a bear. When we see him again after Marineford it's actually kind of interesting because we learn he’s also first and foremost a doctor before being a pirate. He saves Luffys life because that's what doctors do and Luffy doesn’t seem like a bad dude.
Now the good shit.
Post Time Skip Law
My booooyyy! Love of my life, my sad lil uwu. Law is introduced as one of the coolest, coldest, scariest Warlords. He will literally rip your fxckin heart out. Evanescence playing in the background and all. Luffy immediately undermines thats by not thinking he’s any of those things and tying chopper to his head. But we got a whole episode and a half of thinking he was actually too cool for school. Like we all thought he Shanks when he’s actually just Mihawk. Like his cool but also pretty easy to bully if he likes you even a lil and will let you get away with a lot. It’s just hard to get him to like you, at first. So we get through punk hazard, see what a glass canon Law is and move to Dressrosa.
In between those two points we also see how sad Law is and how similar he is to both Robin and Nami in behavior. He was Robins darks sense of humor (from the trauma)  and general introvertedness (trauma!?) with Namis greed (did i mention trauma). Which makes sense for the back story we learn about.
Dressrosa: The Holy Grail of Uwu Law
Law, Luffy and Doflamingo in Dressrosa is what happens when you put Nami and Robins backstory in a blender with crack cocaine and Katya (the drag queen). It’s just this sad tired uwu man, that came to commit murder suicide, trying and failing to accomplish that goal. Only to be figuratively and literally dragged along by a lunatic that barely knows him. Like Law went to Dresrosa not hoping he would die but assuming he would and not really caring. He didn't have an exit strategy because he didn’t think he was exiting. His plan was to use Luffy as a shield, Ceasar as bait and then murder suicide himself and Domflamingo out of existence. He was so desolate by the time his second fight with him ended. He had no hope, his plans had failed and he even dragged a bunch of innocent people into the crossfire. He would die, the people of Dressrosa would die, the Strawhats would suffer and maybe die and all for Laws’ fruitless revenge. Then Luffy stopped that foot. And Law decided to stay. And Luffy beat up Doffy. And Law was free. For the first time in over ten years Law was free.
Wano: Then He Stayed
Because he didn’t plan to make it this far. I laughed out loud when Law said they were enemies after Wano ended. Motherfxcker who? Law you don’t want to be pirate king. You barely want to be a pirate! Frankly at this point I think the only thing keeping Law from a non-deadly early retirement is Luffy, his bounty, and pride. And he can get rid (ignore) of two of those things (you won’t guess which!).  Law fought and almost died in Wano to fulfill the deal he made with Luffy. Even though Luffy would not have begrudged him on reneging on that deal. Law told him it was made in bad faith and he had fxck all to gain from fighting Kaido. But he did it, he believed in Luffy and Luffy punched the problem away like always.
And this ends the story of the Saddest Uwu Boi, Trafalgar D. WaterLaw.
Part III: You Have to See What I’m Getting At.
Law’ backstory and character development is just that of any main woman character. Sad thing happened when he was a kid, putting him on the radar/ partially in debt to a bad man. He spent most of his life running from this bad man by working for/ with people he hated. He met Luffy. He tried to fight the bad man and system but didn’t have the strength of heart and/ or body to defeat him. Luffy punched the bad man real good and told Law he was pretty without makeup, he didn’t need it. Law was finally able to move freely as a person and decided to support Luffy in his immediate goals (and probably his long term ones too. Let's be honest he has nothing else to do)  even though that puts him and his crew in even more danger. But now he knew, Luffy would punch that danger just as good as the previous bad man.
Honestly I don't know what this means or what purpose this knowledge serves. Like, this doesn’t change my opinion that lulaw will never be canon. This doesn’t change how I view Law as a character. This doesn’t change how I view Oda as a writer. This only serves the purpose of excising these thoughts from my head and putting them permanently on a website filled with people who will call me horrible things for even admitting I ship Luffy with anyone. So that's something I guess.
About Sanji:
Sanji is going through a weird, unexpected but good character transformation right now. His writing is becoming more Law/Robin-esque. Which is weird and unexpected but very good. I have thoughts on that but its for a different post. I don't think it undermines my point though because this shift is relatively recent, only happening in the Whole Cake island arc and not fully forming until near the end of Wano. This either means a shift in how Oda choses to write male characters or a shift in how he views Sanjis’ role in the narrative. Only time will tell.
*This unrelated but I’ m realizing Law shows just as much tiddy as Robin and Nami too.*

Brainchild
Tumblr media
Image © Paizo Publishing, accessed at Archives of Nethys here
[I mentioned earlier that Bestiary 3 is my favorite of the PF2e main monster books. The brainchild is part of the reason why. I was going through the As and Bs with a fair bit of enjoyment, but this is the first monster in the book that made me sit up and take notice. I’ve streamlined and regulated the urban legend ability a bit more than the PF2e version, which states that the same brainchild might have different abilities in the same combat against different characters! That’s a lot of bookkeeping, so I wanted to make it a bit easier to play. I also expanded the types of spell-like abilities it could have access to. So if you want to make Candyman and have him summon swarms of bees, or give a brainchild Freddy Krueger’s nightmare ability, you can.]
Brainchild CR 11 CE Aberration This humanoid creature appears as a twisted, shadowy hag, her grin filled with sharp teeth and her claws perpetually blood-stained.
A brainchild is an urban legend come to life. In places where fears run high, especially where the boundaries between the Material and Shadow Planes are thin, any mysterious death or unexplained sighting might inspire the creation of a brainchild. No two brainchildren are alike, and they may take humanoid, bestial or stranger forms. Most people in a community haunted by a brainchild believe the creature to be a fiend, an undead, a monstrous beast or some other more tangible entity. As stories expand and rumors spread, the same brainchild may even take on new appearances or abilities.
Because of their disparate legends, no two brainchildren fight with exactly the same strategy, but there are some common themes. A brainchild’s most powerful attack is an illusory weapon of some kind, a signature move that inflicts mental, not physical damage (although it may certainly resemble a gout of flame, a hyperextensible claw, or some other more mundane weapon). They prefer ambush and slaughter to a straight up fight, attempting to kill the weakest seeming enemy at once with a phantasmal killer spell. Enemies that recognize that a brainchild is a mental creature can use that to weaken the monster, disbelieving its abilities until it is a shell of its typical power.
Areas haunted by a brainchild tend to attract other monsters. Fear-obsessed fey such as bogeymen and meenlocks are drawn to a brainchild the way a moth is drawn to a flame. Popobawas love brainchildren as if they were literal children, and try to bring them into existence in a community by hiding their own presence. All of these added horrors tend to reinforce a brainchild’s existence, as the stories get blurred together and the reputation of the region as monster-haunted increases. The only way to permanently destroy a brainchild is to convince everyone living in the area that it truly is dead. Most brainchildren accumulate rumors of their weaknesses—a particular sword can slay one, they can only die if a specific song is sung over their fresh body, etc. Some of the most dangerous and powerful brainchildren are those that return after a long absence. When an old diary is read or regional folklore is collected, a brainchild may be called back into existence, and the means to put it down again may not be as well remembered.

A creature struck takes d6s of damage equal to ½ the brainchild’s HD, plus the brainchild’s Charisma modifier (8d6+7 for the average specimen). This damage is typeless, but creatures immune to mind-influencing damage are immune to this effect, and the illusory weapon is treated as a mind thrust III spell for the purposes of interacting with mental barrier and similar effects. Persistence of Memory (Ex) A brainchild is restored to life 2d4 days after it is slain, unless everyone in the community it haunts believes it to be truly dead. Undetectable (Ex) A brainchild is immune to divination spells and effects that would detect it or determine its alignment or other auras. It is not immune to divination spells and effects that deal damage, such as mind thrust spells. Urban Legend (Su) All brainchildren have a suite of abilities, based on what people believe about them. A brainchild may choose from any of the following abilities, and may take multiple abilities of the same type as long as they do not cancel each other out (for example, two immunities).
An additional natural weapon that deals damage as normal for a creature of its size
All natural weapons deal an additional 1d6 points of damage. This damage may be acid, bleed, cold, electricity, fire, force, negative energy or sonic damage.
Damage reduction 10/cold iron or DR 10/silver
Spell resistance equal to 10  + CR
Immune to an energy type or school of magic
A 5th or 6th level spell usable as a spell-like ability 1/day, or a 3rd or 4th     level spell usable as a spell-like ability 3/day
Blindsense or tremorsense 60 ft.
Frightful presence (100 foot radius)
A brainchild may have a number of abilities equal to its Charisma modifier (+7 for the average specimen). A brainchild may take an 8th ability if it also takes a vulnerability to an energy type. As a standard action, a character within 100 feet of a brainchild may attempt to make a Perception or Sense Motive check, opposed by the brainchild’s Bluff check. If it succeeds, it treats the brainchild as if it doesn’t have one of its abilities (of the character’s choice) for 24 hours. If it fails, it cannot attempt to disbelieve that same ability for the next 24 hours. During that time, that character can spend a standard action to aid another character’s Perception or Sense Motive check against the same ability and grant them a +4 bonus on their skill check to disbelieve.

For those writers unfamiliar with Telugu endearments to use for Rambheem context, and those who end up using anna because it kinda fits the meaning 'dude'
Don't come at me but anna purely means brother. Dude in english can stand for 'guy (genderneutral)' or 'person' but it's not the case for anna in Telugu.
So here I come with some cute words/endearments/ways for the characters to address each other. I will mention when they can make sense in a genderneutral state as well.
male
bhaiyya (not bhai)
orey (a term used in haste, like "orey, give me that quickly!") - [genderneutral]
babai (means father's brother but it's an endearment for someone elder or whom you consider older, also for those who are the desi equivalent of an old hag lol)
bava (meaning sister's husband, or just a term among friends sometimes)
na bangaru thandri (coll.transl. my golden boy) (a fluffy endearment)
ma naanne &/or ma thandre (context of joking, or jovial pride "you finally asked them out? ma naanne ma thandre!")
female:
osey (just like orey but female version) (don't use this if you're writing them in the context of "meri jaan", osey is a rough term, it can fit for rampant love confessions or anger)
na bangaru thalli (coll. transl. my golden girl)
bangaram (literal meaning gold but it's an endearment) [genderneutral]
ma thalle (jovial pride, comedy or actual pride) (when you're proud of something they've done you go "ma nanne ma thalle how good you look/how hard you've worked!)
na bujji kadu? (endearment, rhetorical question like "aren't you my darling?" usually when you want them to do something for you ; like Sita held a hand full of food in front of Jenny with a begging need in her eyes "Na bujji kadu? Na bagaru thandri kadu? Eat please")
Hear me out please
there isn't anything wrong with the term 'anna' itself. but when using words from another language in a particular context that the word doesn't suit for, it becomes awkward. right now, all the peeps on here reading fics using anna between rambheem have been reading smut and flangst between two people who address each other as brothers (getting a little bit too mortal instruments for me mi lord). so, here's this post to not only politely push a gentle request towards you like a basket full of tiny meowing kittens, BUT ALSO to provide you with alternatives so that the endearments become EVEN BETTER.
Thank you and if anyone needs any more terms or telugu context or just a friend to brainstorm with, I'm here❤️
@budugu @hissterical-nyaan @juhiiiiii and the rest of my telugu fam!

OOC | Godfrey & Edmund
nephew!!! godfrey honestly can't wait for the day that edmund is emperor!! he's got a lot of ideas about how the empire can be run more smoothly and like???? god, he's so weird idek how to explain sdafjklsdjf ok so i feel like godfrey is a really weiRD mix of characteristics like???? he's cutthroat and ruthless but he's also innovative and altruistic, like he legit wants to make the world a better place!!!!! but mostly bc he thinks its a black terrible place and he thinks it'll take a monster to carve a paradise out of the muck basically????? and he aint afraid to make the world a lot worse on his way to the top to do that?????? lskjflasjdkfjf
anyway uncle godfrey out here literally willing to lie cheat steal and kill to get edmund on the throne!!!! and then he's gonna do everything it takes to realize his vision of a better future like????? he's so weird idek let's blame the witch grandma bc its always good to blame the witch </3
i feel like godfrey and amira and tristan had a really tough time growing up, saw some really bad stuff, and godfrey is convinced that he needs to cleanse this world and, thanks to edmund, he can! thanks, bud! and i think he's like 'they can hate me, but my children will have a better future ahead than i ever did etc' but!!! i don't think he is ~just team edmund bc edmund's his nephew (tho that's not nothing to him!), i think he genuinely believes in edmund and thinks he's brilliant and capable and is the ideal princeling to help him achieve his ends!! and godfrey can be his pet monster, cleansing this world for him w fire and sword!!
but all that being said, i ALSO think that godfrey legit loves his nephew v much and is super proud of him and protective of him and always has his back in his own particular distant and scheming way!!
im also toying w the notion that, given his witchy grandma, he may know about the guardians BUT, if so, i lowkey think he might actually be in favor of the apocalypse like -- i think he might actually lowkey be egging on roderick about his monotheistic religion intentionally to bring that on bc that would be a v effective cleansing reset for this wicked world and after that anyone left can help clean up whatever's left over alkjsfkjlsdfjksf BUT he wants to get safeguards in place first -- like, godfrey aint letting his family members get swallowed by the apocalypse so i feel like he's building various stuff into his new keep but!!! anyway!!! idk!!!! it depends a lil on what the mythos about the apocalypse is like if there's no chance for humanity if that happens then he's def against it hahaha -- also, alternately, he might not believe in any of that stuff at all and might just think their grandma was a crazy old hag and there are no gods whatsoever, even monstrous ones etc idk aljskdfkjdsfjk
but yeah basically the cojent points here are that he's messed up af and wants to make the world a better place...by lowkey destroying it -- like, he does terrible things and legit believes he's doing it for the greater good, he wants his nephew to rule, and finally in his own bizarre way he loves his fam v much and would do anything for them but its complicated bc he's hella messed up asdljfkdskjfkljsf so yeah yet another super mentally healthy family member for edmund over here lkajsdfljksdjfjsdkfl

continuing thoughts about The Gilded Age:
Some comments I've read online about it complain about the liberal use of greenscreen and CG to fill in the backdrop of 1880s New York City. I mean, you've got to do something because New York very much does not look like that any more. Just now I'm looking at an establishing shot at the start of S01E06, "Heads Have Rolled For Less," the scene of a disastrous train wreck. The crumpled carriage we see first is pretty clearly CG but parts of the wreckage the rescue workers are picking their way through look fairly real to me, as if they existed on location (it is, at least, a location shot in a place with grass and trees, and I think the Red Cross tents are real). And honestly, I don't care. It isn't horrendous. I don't feel that actually they should have spent the money to built a full-scale munted train carriage for an establishing shot, nor do I begrudge them the choice of establishing shot to remind us of the tragedy that we heard happened at the end of the previous episode and make it clear what a serious crash it was. Could they probably have made it look more realistic by allocating more of a budget to it? Probably, but I hope they spent the money on wardrobe instead.
Fuckin' love the wardrobe on this show. Just smashing frock after smashing frock. The dresses in particular look richly detailed and (as far as I'm any judge) well-made, nothing half-arsed. As they should because fashion is such an important part of conspicuous consumption and conspicuous consumption is Bertha Russell's whole thing.
Peggy Scott's well-made and stylish clothes (but still more humble in some ways than the white ladies' - she wears much more plaid than they do and it sets her apart visually in addition to her skin colour) make it very clear from the beginning that she's both prosperous and polished, which makes Marian's abject tomfoolery in taking a carpet bag of old shoes as a charitable gift when she dropped in uninvited to Peggy's parents' substantial and handsome Brooklyn house all the. more glaring. Seriously, Marian. Dumbass.
Marian's pretty bland guys. Seems perfectly nice. Pretty hair. Very bland. Apparently the actress is one of Meryl Streep's daughters. For how much time we spend with Marian I wish she had more of an "I want" about her. She thinks she'd like to find some useful work to do. She doesn't have an ambition or any talents we've seen. She's just generally wishy-washy.
That grumpy lady is probably going to smother her pie-wasting hag of an invalid mother, right?

Anyway I feel like the dbd devs may have had a lil peek at For Honor's sound effects library during that particular little tryst because I SWEAR I recognize the noises this dude makes on a very deep level
Skull Merchant: I feel like you could design literally anything based on that name and it would be infinitely cooler than the killer that actually has it
