btw, if Marika was the character people tend to think, the deaths of Godwyn and Ranni would have no reason to affect her. she has 7 more children, 5 if you don't count the Omens (which —if I remember right— were normally just killed before she got her own and then all of the sudden exile was on the table as well).

if she was still the ruthless, genocidal warlord she was when creating the Golden Order, why would she care so much about Ranni and Godwyn's deaths? so much that she attempts to tear down everything she has spent eons creating?? if she really doesn't care about her kids, why was that the trigger to directly assault the Greater Will?

sure, evil women and whatnot, but at least actually look at her as a whole. yes, she did all she did and if the ER world was fair she should had gotten way worse than being crucified, and I'd also never say she's a gentle or caring character overall, but there's a pretty important exception to the not caring thing, and that's her kids

their death caused the entire premise of the game, I feel like the love she had for them was a pretty important character trait of hers

i think honestly what irritates me about yoshidas work SO much is that people will tell you that banana fish is THE gay manga (ignoring the many things that came before it and were more groundbreaking, ie MW literally having on screen (or like. on panel but still.) gay sex in it and that came out like a decade before BF did) when there really isn't barely any gay rep outside of the pedophiles and the one time ash drops the f slur. like im sorry but somehow yasha, a work she wrote in 1996, has more gay rep in it but also has the same issues.

i truly do not get how people can enjoy banana fish with the rampant racism every 2 pages or the rampant sexual assault plotlines (on women and ash bc he is just... written like how yoshida writes women lmao) that are handled IMPOSSIBLY bad and sincerely i hoped yasha would be better because it had been like a decade or so between works. and then it proceeds to continue with the heres our blonde genius protagonist who everyone is weird as fuck to and will sexually harrass and everyone finds it a VERY funny joke to point out how feminine he is when theres barely any women in the work (if you exclude the ones that are being raped/killed/creepy to minors. which to be fair yasha has toned down the sa a LOT) and that its funny that hes kind of gay except not really!! and its just absurd to me how it just persists in all of her stuff because she is not an author that handles gay stuff well. like the scene in banana fish where ash is completely ok getting gang raped and did it solely to get into the hospital when its been SHOWN that he has a lot of trauma with that. and then right after his friend makes a joke at ash's expense about that. like sincerely and genuinely is this what we are hyping up as the old retro gay manga. go read some tezuka and stop reading shit that the most the main characters do is share a kiss in a nonromantic sense and is obsessed w making every gay person be evil!!

I really would like to start colouring them! #I have delightful colour schemes chosen... #gale/illamin piece has already been sketched in a notebook. once I finish these two- I will begin lining theirs! #illamin's connects to cadence's because they're intertwined like that. but I have yet to finish planning out cadence's piece. #I've gone back and forth on who I should romance with him...the thing with any of the companions is that they are all written to be- #-immensely compatible with each other. so writing a tav FOR a specific companion is a bit hard. often the tav could fit with any of them. #hell. I'm STILL working out details of jantar and corydalis' story & characters. because I can't be normal about this. #that aside- I DO have other. finished pieces...finally. #well. Turns out I hate that stuff and it’s soooo bad for poofy sleeves #and I didn’t finish my edges all that great so I was scared it would disintegrate if I ever tried to wash it #so last summer I finally got some eyelet cotton and remade them #I think I never posted the finished Ephy dress because I wanted to also make a bow to go with it #haven’t done that yet though and it’s been awhile #I’m not sure how easily I’ll be able to wear the dirndl again nowadays without remaking the blouse again (for reasons) #but I did get to wear it on our honeymoon!! we went to a little German-themed touristy town and had a fancy dinner and went shopping #we also did hiking and an amusement park. and Pokémon go #and a lot of driving lol #also yes that smocking is incredibly tiny #I wasn’t sure it would even be physically possible at that size but it worked out yippee!!

so more LN III thoughts (not as many at least, read more is just for users who are avoiding altogether)

I keep thinking abt how the single player you'll be playing with an AI like LN II, and I think the game would offer a lot of replay ability if you can choose which kid you play as as they both do different things (the wrench kid has the wrench for puzzles and breaking things, and the masked kid has the slingshot). in multiplayer it makes enough sense you can pick which one to play as, but if you can choose in single I think it'd make the game have a lot more play value and that's super cool.

the fact it has online co-op can mean so much for cool additional things, and i do hope character customisation is still there (LN with Six's masks/hats and LN II with Monos also) even if you have to unlock it which would also still offer replay ability.

I’ve been feeling Créa creep up on me as of late and today I went back and reread my little document where I type up random ideas for scenes/fics and I was like. Wow who wrote this. This is really good. Why isn’t there more of this damn. But also wow I really put miss créa through the blender and she is a fine red mist a lot. But that is the life of a ranger…and even when she’s not a ranger anymore I press blend on high and she is sadly used to that

#(I forgot what made me think of it but I had this fantastic idea post war where Créa has tried to keep herself together) #(and it’s one specific incident that really makes her crack- I wrote a really compelling idea of her having PTSD and it unexpectedly) #(manifesting in a place where she didn’t anticipate it. and ofc it’s medieval medicine so they don’t know what PTSD is exactly but they) #(not like we know ptsd anyways. so it’s a really interesting exploration of grief and suppression and dealing with it- or not dealing with) #(it in this case. bc she’s avoided it for years and she’s like. god I fucking miss being a ranger so much. that was ME.) #(now I’m not a ranger anymore and I lost my entire identity) #(she can’t return to Evendim for a long time and desperately misses it. most of her friends are dead) #(or gone up north or treat her differently) #(she feels really isolated and alone even though she’s aware she’s not but it’s a lot to deal with!!! and I didn’t quite have an ending) #(but it was really compelling and I need to return to it one day) #(the other one I wrote ideas for and wrote a small scene was crea’s first experience meeting rangers) #(back when the angle was new. sighs. the potential…crea interacting with and learning ranger culture for the first time) #(after being alienated and kept away not of her own will. and her having a scene with faeron and standing on the bridge with him) #(but also of her thinking of what her life might’ve been like had she not been lied to about her heritage or had it hidden) #(she’s at a huge disadvantage-she barely knows dúnedain/elf history or sindarin etc. she could’ve had a whole different life) #(and AGAIN the theme of GRIEF- grieving smth that was kept from you. a life you’ll never have but could’ve) #(anyways. that probably all could’ve been in a post LOL and not in tags) #(but yeah damn!!!
