Oh ya speaking of sewing. Updates to old projects I forgot to post: new blouse & apron for the dirndl, and I added a smocked panel + some barely visible blue embroidery at the hem to Ephy’s pink dress

#sewing #dirndl #elfilin #I made the new blouse and apron like over a year ago LOL #I had originally wanted to make them out of eyelet cotton but got cotton gauze when I was buying materials because it was way cheaper #Mistake. Turns out I hate that stuff and it’s soooo bad for poofy sleeves #and I didn’t finish my edges all that great so I was scared it would disintegrate if I ever tried to wash it #so last summer I finally got some eyelet cotton and remade them #I think I never posted the finished Ephy dress because I wanted to also make a bow to go with it #haven’t done that yet though and it’s been awhile #I’m not sure how easily I’ll be able to wear the dirndl again nowadays without remaking the blouse again (for reasons) #but I did get to wear it on our honeymoon!! we went to a little German-themed touristy town and had a fancy dinner and went shopping #we also did hiking and an amusement park. and Pokémon go #and a lot of driving lol #also yes that smocking is incredibly tiny #I wasn’t sure it would even be physically possible at that size but it worked out yippee!!

Hi!! I'm a big fan of your work and I was just wondering how you plan out compositions?

for me, the story/concept/feeling u wanna convey is the basis for all composition! technical components like line weight, posing, coloring, etc. are all in service to "what is the image supposed to say?"

example: wanted to draw valentines-themed saiou, so i drew them in a chocolate box! ...but it was kind of unsatisfying, so i re-drew ouma and moved some bg elements to try to make a more balanced and interesting composition.

posing reflects a lot of a personality, so "how does the pose express the character's own personality/feelings towards the other?" prompts ideas for how to arrange the composition. like in this case... western valentine's theme -> if ouma had cupid''s arrow? -> needs more distance to nock and draw -> ouma perching on/pinning saihara down. that's the flavor -> then, rearrange the ribbons and treats to follow the flow...

i'll also check layout and values throughout: for example, after finishing fontaine's aq, i wanted to draw smth about furina & focalor's partnership, and focalor controlling her from the shadows... so the concept was "a dance where you can't relax from your partner's lead."

the lineart's a hot mess, but the spotlight helps divide the image, direct the focal point and ties into the aq story.

tl;dr: pose, sightline and visibility are the key traits i focus on in a draw, but the bottom line is always "story" first. hope this helps... even a little bit (':

He doesn’t want to go home. He just wants to keep driving, wherever the road takes him. Driving is good, he likes driving, letting his thoughts wander, listening to music, having control of something. He thinks that’s it, that’s why. Driving is one of the few times he feels fully in control, his feet controlling the speed, hands holding the steering wheel and dictating the direction. Whether he makes it to work or gives into the thoughts that tell him to not turn the wheel and let his car crash into a tree or a building, or another car – it’s all up to him. He doesn’t- he won’t crash his car on purpose, but sometimes he wonders… maybe at least that’ll make him feel something. Make him hurt, make him scared, anything. Make him die, this time permanently- he doesn’t want that. He doesn’t, he swears he doesn’t. He just wonders sometimes, that’s all.

He doesn’t wanna go home, so he decides to keep driving. Just a few more minutes, to clear his head.

Fae!Soap with a darling who has intense executive dysfunction and/or depression that he can’t even seem to touch. It’s so frustrating. For some reason I’m thinking a violinist, very classic ‘I can make these absolutely beautiful, classical, tug-on-your-heartstrings pieces, but only once a year, sometimes once every few years, and I get a week’s worth of inspiration and spit it out like a madman”.

Their energy is so enthralling, so delicious, so he woos them and tries to suck them dry, but their habits don’t seem to change. It drives Soap up a wall, there must be something blocking him from working his magic.

He begrudgingly sits there and lets them drip feed him their energy, as rare as it is, while he is driven up the wall trying to figure out what’s up.

Blurb three... Another darling he can't drain, another escape from Soap's clutches.

A violinist. He's never had a violinist before, and he's starting to understand why. You are devastatingly focused and difficult to manage. Not to mention hearing the same string of notes over and over and over as you attempted to figure out a melody was slowly starting to drive him insane.

You keep pausing your work to tune your instrument or rosin your bow, and in those pauses you get food and drink. Soap does his best to feed you more inspiration in those moments. Listening to you hum the tune you're working on in the hopes that you'll stop taking such damn good care of yourself and get back to work. You're draining his best inspiration with one piece and he can't stand it.

Worse still is the day you take in the middle where he can't seem to budge you at all. The solid wall of apathetic misery that seems to consume you is unflinching under his magic. He's never had a creative so difficult before.

When you do finally finish your piece it's haunting. It's beautiful and swelling with passion, you draw your bow across the strings in long elegant strokes that nearly bring tears to his eyes.

But when you pack your violin away his next inspiration doesn't stick. You're a storehouse closed to his deliveries. You still have so much music in you, he can feel it. So why won't you let it out?

"Are you kidding?" You ask him, when he asks you about composing, "Do you know how much time that takes?" He does, very much so. "Besides I hate writing too much too close together. Especially when I only have one source of inspiration. Otherwise it all sounds the same."

don’t wanna get too into it bc… nsfw but how does asexual greed work when he literally says that he wants sex and women? is he just not attracted to them in that way or–

well in terms of nitty-gritty homunculi biology they are quite literally an asexual species, like father reproduces via budding lol. And then given his physical embodiment of lust herself seemingly has no sex drive and is instead Way more interested in killing it's a pretty easy conclusion that as a species they just have no sexual interests because why would they (pretty sure father as the dwarf in the flask had some comments about finding human pairings distasteful, and given all his kids are just offshoots of his personality i can't see that shifting much haha (also more shitposty take but there's the much funnier observation that all of the homunculi come with their funny little onsies literally built-in to their regenerative code so there is an incredibly real chance they're all just ken dolls down there anyways))

as for why greed himself says stuff like wanting women and sex etc., i mean he also says he wants money and power and the finer things in life and then spends his time happily hanging out in a dingy dive bar with no real long-term goals besides 'hang out with my friends and investigate immortality which is definitely for me and not for anyone else that i'd be sad to see die no siree don't ask me why i'm doing this if i'm already virtually immortal'

so yeah it's a fun aspect of his character that greed says he tells the truth but he will also just sort of...lie about his own drives to himself and others all the time lol - i'd almost chalk it up to his love of performance but there's def also some intentional personal misdirection going on, which was very obvious as greedling when ling (correctly) calls him out on acting like all he wants is power when really the only thing he wants is to have friends

basically he says he wants money and power and women and sex because that's what common human desires are but then he makes absolutely 0 effort to follow through on any of those claims because deep down that isn't actually anything he's interested in
