#Human Responsibility
[Providence] insists that everything (yes, everything) that happens does so because God wills it to happen, wills it to happen before it happens, wills it to happen in the way that it happens. Such a view signals immediately that history is not arbitrary or fortuitous; neither is it “simple determinism,” “Que Sera, Sera” or, “whatever will be, will be,” as though our own choices and involvement have no relevance whatsoever, a fatalistic view more reflective of Islam than biblical Christianity.

to any americans who feel "paralyzed" and "dont know what to do" to help with gaza:
reading a fucking book. i beg of you.
in a time of knowledge suppression is it your duty to arm yourself with knowledge.
read about americas occupations in the middle east.
read about 9/11 from outside of america and see how they inflicted senseless harm and violence to countless amounts of people and have been suppressing your rights for the past 2 fucking decades.
read about any of the countless wars from the past 30 years. especially from a civilian's. and the victims and survivors' perspective. listen to the horror stories and do not plug your fucking ears as to what your country is doing.
and read about fucking gaza and palestine and keep up with what is happening no matter how "sad" or "uncountable" you might get.
dont look away from this.
you dont have the right to be comfortable during countless active genocides.
if you're knowledgeable, you're powerful, and our current state doesnt fucking want that.
you have the power to change things if you open your eyes and scream to the world.
wake the fuck up.
Edit: please check the reblogs there are readings and ways to help

Life (Genesis 1:20-2:4a)
People have been tasked with being faithful stewards of creation, entrusted with caring for other creatures and the created order.
The Creation of Heaven and Earth, by Unknown artist, c.18th century God said, “Let the waters swarm with living things, and let birds fly above the earth up in the dome of the sky.” God created the great sea animals and all the tiny living things that swarm in the waters, each according to its kind, and all the winged birds, each according to its kind. God saw how good it was. Then God blessed…

What About Human Responsibility?
Jesus has so far affirmed Pharisee soteriology. God first loves an individual. In response to God’s love, the individual cares to keep God’s Law. If a person keeps God’s Law, that person is righteous. God’s love is what brought the person into righteousness (i.e. saved the person). When the person kept the Law, that was evidence that he had been made righteous by God. This is the soteriological…

“More than social responsibility,” Amano says, “there’s human responsibility.” Don’t bother people, don’t cause trouble, stuff like that. “We all have [that responsibility]. Not just myself, but everybody.”
The legend Yoshitaka Amano to the question if artist have "social responsibility" from this interview.
----
Say it louder for the people in the back.
I am past tired of this idea of "social responsibility". Art should also be for fun and for yourself if you want it to be. People should not have the right to police how you 'art or what you 'art' about.

Reminder to avoid buying anything crochet new from big stores. Crochet (unlike knit) CANNOT be done by a machine and must be done by an actual human being. The person who made it was definitely not paid an appropriate amount for their labour. Most big stores use sweatshops anyway and I know it’s hard to completely avoid buying anything from a major store. But if those specific items don’t sell, we can send a message to companies that we don’t want items made fully by hand using slave labour
This summer, avoid any new crochet items. You don’t need THAT specific top that badly

I am still a person even when I'm experiencing symptoms! The fact that I experience symptoms isn't dehumanizing! If I tell you about my symptoms and you decide I need to "humanize" myself that's you dehumanizing me

Concept: most aliens can get anxious, can get scared, can get fight-or-flight. What most aliens do not get, however, is stress. Stress is a weird thing even by human standards. It can build up over time or be something tied to a very limited situation. It can be caused by a lot of things, and it comes in a lot of different ways. But it's a core human reaction, when a situation is wrong, it causes stress until it is righted. And it even affects different people differently!
Cue Human Cassandra, on a ship with her friend and co-worker Human Pauline. The ship is crewed with a mix of species. It's a cargo ship - load up in a space port, unload in another, get news and supplies during their stops, and live as an ever-shifting family as some of the two dozen crew members, give or take, get replaced. Some leave come payday, and new ones come looking for the thrill of low-level adventure, experiencing warp drives across the safer roads of the known universe.
But getting the supplies you need, or want, in stops is never so easy. Humans are new to the galactic community, and their needs misunderstood. Most broad-edibility food is bland for them, but that's okay. A big enough bag of their condiments can last them years. But ADHD meds... now that's less easy to get, the further from Earth you are. And a contract too big for their captain to pass on came up, much farther than the two humans expected.
Cassandra's mood deteriorated, her work priorities out of order, her sleep schedule in disarray. Little by little, she grew restless, shifting moods and gears unpredictably. A few weeks in and she was a mess, barely able to keep up with the minimum her job doing maintenance and running safety diagnostics for the route charting team required of her. While Pauline could help with the mechanical aspects of keeping the ship running, picking up the "slack", the safety had to be double-checked by the charting and pilot teams. When the curves of asteroid probability reached beyond a certain level, several hundred simulations had to be run, time-consuming processes had to be used, to avoid any collision at speeds beyond speed c. Some truly exotic things happened to ships that experienced those, but none of them contained the words "surviving crew." A safe route avoided any probability of collision over .1% and when going faster than light, any choice of course required thinking in 3 dimensions plus relative time to navigate dangerous probability fields in one piece, finding time-specific corridors and accounting for a dozen variables at once.
After she had a breakdown over a path she would normally have been able to find in under a minute, Pauline spoke to a concerned pilot team member:
"You have to understand her, this is a stressful situation and she's doing her best..."
"What do you mean by 'stressful'?" Gabalt asked. The furry little creature stood on two arched legs, and barely reached up to Pauline's shoulder, opening three wide eyes with curiosity and concern in equal parts.
"Things are... getting difficult for her, and keep getting more difficult because she does not have medication to help her brain be efficient. It makes her tired, and inefficient, and as it goes on, she's less and less able to cope with the situation. The longer this goes on, the worse it gets, and that is stress. Getting more tired because it takes more energy to deal with the situation, and less efficient because she's more tired, and things get harder because she's less efficient, on and on until something can solve the problem and the stress goes away."
"That sounds... hard. Do all humans have to deal with this?"
"Well, everyone has sources of stress, but she's got a disability. Without her meds, she gets stressed all the time. Not a lot all at once, but it always adds up."
"Oh no! So she'll be stuck like that until we get closer to Earth?"
"Most likely, yes."
But the most momentous thing to happen this day was not her breakdown. Not an hour later, alarms blared up. The simulation holograms all displayed blinking red masses - the less-travelled "safe route" was not as well protected! An asteroid range had been detected cutting through the border field, and it was in their way!
Pauline froze up, not knowing what to do. Gabalt was too surprised to act fast. All the courses from the ship's library of regular manoeuvres suggested a crash chance of over 60%, and mere seconds to act before entering the field!
Before anyone could react, Cassandra came in running from her corner to the front of the bridge, slamming the warp drive shutdown button. Most holograms stuttered and collapsed, the exit from FTL essentially dividing one or several of their dimensions by zero.
Looking quickly at the few remaining ones and gazing at the screens showing the current outside situation like a large window would have - plus a few critical extra points of data - she adjusted the angles manually while everyone still shuddered from the gravitational and temporal whiplash of suddenly coming back into normal time. Unblinkingly, she spotted the asteroids on the route while the ship was still going, if not at relativistic speeds, still fast enough for a single pebble they met to vaporise the Whipple shields, the outer hull, the inner hull, the crew members, and the hull again coming out if they but grazed it. Confirming the angles visually, she played with the reaction wheels, the thrusters, the gravity drives, to divert the ship's course just enough to miss a collision while not risking any grave injury on board. There was no time to react - if anything showed up straight ahead on the "unaugmented" outside view screens, it was too late to not get splatted. After half the crew had had the time to get thrown to the side or on the ground due to the rough handling, she'd managed to avoid any crash.
Gabalt was reeling. While it was surely not impossible, these was the kind of moves experienced veterans would never wish to attempt, and the margins for error were ridiculously low! She'd saved the ship and everyone on it, whereas she'd been unable to do a simple safety run so soon before?
Pauline was white as a sheet, but this was nothing compared to Cassandra, shaking violently and breathing unevenly.
"Pauline? What is she doing?"
"That's... probably the adrenaline."
"What's it for?"
"It's from stress. When it comes it overcharges the body. It's like the traditional, 'fight or flight' instinct from survival in prey-predator paradigms, it lets you move fast but paralyses thought... it feels pretty bad after a lot of it is released though. Now she's crashing down, must be harrowing."
"How did she do that? And you said her thoughts were paralysed for precision manoeuvres?"
Cassandra's voice came, nearly a mutter: "I just... had to. do it."
Gabalt needed to understand what happened.
"What do you mean you had to? Someone had to do it, but why you?"
"It- it was very stressful, I saw you freeze, and so."
"But... but HOW did you do all that? That was extremely complicated, few pilots -whose main craft is directly piloting- would want to even try doing that when given a choice!?"
"I had to. do it, so I did. I couldn't. couldn't make a mistake."
"This makes absolutely no sense."
Pauline interrupted. "She just works like that. Lots of stress and when people freeze up, humans with her condition... sometimes, surprisingly, function better in the moment than others can."
"Ah. So it's a human thing. of course, it's a human thing. NOTHING MAKES ANY SENSE WITH YOUR ACCURSED SPECIES" the diminutive pilot pouted.
And so one more story of the humans doing the impossible spread around. Humans of a subtype, more easily harmed, sometimes unstable and needing help for the simplest things... accomplishing odd, unthinkable, borderline heroic feats under duress none could be expected to withstand - but only then. Cursed, blessed? No story-teller seemed too certain. But the "magical" species never stopped surprising all others. And a new proverb developed: "it's not over until the human says it is".

Take Responsibility (Deuteronomy 3:23-29)
We are responsible for both our personal selves and the entire community of people we are a part of. Indeed, we truly are our brother’s and sister’s keeper.
It was also at that same time that I begged the Lord: Please, Lord God! You have only begun to show your servant your greatness and your mighty hand. What god in heaven or on earth can act as you do or can perform your deeds and powerful acts? Please let me cross over the Jordan River so I can see the wonderful land that lies beyond it: those beautiful highlands, even the Lebanon region. But…

Lucifer
He would be so so heart broken.
He would find you on the floor crying with blood surrounding you and panic.
He would immediately transport you to the hospital.
You two have been trying for awhile. You were a sinner so it was obviously going to be hard.
You were told early on in the pregnancy that there may be complications. That couldn’t have prepared you for this though.
Lucifer held your hand throughout the whole thing and when the doctor came in, the look on his face broke the two of you.
You stayed in the hospital for about two weeks before you were sent home.
Lucifer carried you bridal style through the doors, and just passing the nursing room broke you more.
You knew Lucifer was hurting just as much. He was the only one who could truly share your pain.
You hug him as he cries, just as he hugs you.
For months you two would cry each other to sleep. And if you went to bed before him he would often walk outside on the balcony and stare up at heaven.
“You are Cruel!” “I thought god was supposed to be merciful!” “Why couldn’t you let me have this why?! Does my father hate me this much!”
He would yell to the heavens, yell to his father — god. You would often find him out there crying, begging someone to bring back his child. Begging someone to give him your pain.
You two were shattered. You would pick each other up, but the mirror was still cracked.
You never loved Lucifer more as he would comfort you. And him the same to you.
Alastor
I like to think this was when you two were alive.
You had became pregnant when you were alive with Alastor’s child.
The doctors wasn’t great during the Great Depression. They couldn’t help you when you felt the pain in your stomach.
The pain in your stomach was nothing compared to the pain in your heart.
You would beg the doctors. You would beg ever god known to man.
You’d often cried yourself to sleep in Alastor’s arms. While you cried going to bed, waking up Alastor would cry knowing the day before wasn’t just a nightmare.
You would wake and find him breaking. You hug him and tell him your sorry, while he would kiss you and tell you that it wasn’t your fault going to sleep.
You once heard Alastor over the radio voice break over news. It had been some family that had gotten in a car crash and the kid didn’t make it out. He was talking about how cruel this world was.
You quickly went to his broad casting station. You didn’t care he was on air, you hurried to hug him.
I’m that moment Alastor knew he had to marry you. That you two would be together forever. No matter what god threw y’all’s way.
Angel
That had been his last straw. He broke, yelling how this wasn’t fair. Not to you or him.
You’d cry for days and days. The whole hotel breaking for you two.
He wished he had the power to bring y’all’s kid back. He wished he had the power to make your eyes shine as they once did.
Surprisingly Valentino let him off work for awhile. Angel didn’t know you yelled screamed and cried to his boss. The princess of hell backing you up as well.
Angel would try and convince everyone he was fine, but he wasn’t.
You found him crying in the mirror and when he wasn’t answering you called out to him once more, “Anthony?”
He turned to you. Eyes full of despair, “I’m sorry baby, so sorry.”
Angel would also stay up with you as you cried to him, you’d often ask why this happen, and his only answer would be, “I don’t know, sugar.”
Adam
Adam didn’t believe it at first. He couldn’t.
He was so so excited for this baby. He was never really a good father. I mean one son killed another.
He was scared, but he knew this time he would be there. He would be a good dad.
This time he was ready for a kid. He wanted a kid. He was so happy when you showed him that pregnancy stick. He would often talk to your belly as well. He grew so close to it.
That was the first time you actually saw Adam cry in anguish. He tried to hold it together. He really did. But when y’all finally got home and he saw the “I love my daddy shirt.” He broke down.
He threw all the stuff around. Only calming down when you ran your fingers in his hair and whispering sweet nothings in his ear.
“I thought heaven was supposed to only be good?”
He would often check on you. Always making sure you were okay. He went into overdrive with his protectiveness with you.
When you’d cry he hug you and listen to your pleas. Wishing he could grant them.
Adam thought this was heaven, but it felt like hell. What was worse was he had to watch you go through the same pain he did.
He begged Sera for help. Begged every arch angel, every higher being. Only to he met with “I’m sorry Adam.”
He didn’t need sorries, he need his family to be alright. He need his wife to be 100% happy again. He need you to be okay.
When Adam finally accepted it, he would try his damn hardest to bring the light back in your eyes. But it was hard. Just because he accepted it, didn’t make it hurt less, if not more.
He didn’t know which was worse, the bliss of denial, or the bitterness of the truth.
Husk
Husk would immediately comfort you.
He’d also drown his sorrows in a bottle. He never drank to much however. He always was there for you, like you were there for him.
He went to Alastor, and begged, like on his knees begged him to bring his baby back.
Alastor felt sorry. He did. But that didn’t mean he could grant his wish.
Husk would cry at night. He’d often would try and cry alone, but you made it your mission to remind him that you loved him and was still there.
While physical touch was often your main sense of love, acts of services became the main one after.
You two would always try and help and do things for the other.
Husk would always rest his hands on your stomach, at night he’d rub it, reminiscent of the excitement he once had.
Vox
He would be in denial. For the first hour he’s just shake his head.
But when the hour had struck, so did the truth.
He throws anything he could find. He would also apologize just as quickly for reacting like that.
Vox would always never be far from you after that. Always with you.
When Vox would work he’d often play the babies heart beat he had on recording.
I have a head-cannon that he can’t physically cry. Cause yk tv and water?
So he just bang his hand on the table and cuss. He looked down and his feet through his fingers and would think.
How can he help you?
That would always be his first priority. You.
Why? Why me? Why you? This wasn’t fair. You two didn’t deserve this. His baby was innocent.
Those would be his main thoughts.
He would always text you, becoming more clingy after the whole ordeal. And you would welcome it. You loved the way he would check up.
He’s text every hour; check up.
You would sing him baby songs to sleep and he would play the heartbeat for you.
Ahhhh this was so sad! I feel so bad for all of them. Anyways I hope this seems kind of accurate 💛

i love revenge tragedies so so much because they have so much potential to explore such a nuanced and complex topic and give it the consideration and care it deserves. revenge and revenger characters are such powerful narrative tools, both of catharsis and self reflection. a good revenge tragedy will not tell you that "revenge is bad, seeking revenge makes you just as bad as the people you're seeking vengeance against, and nonviolence and forgiveness are the only paths to building a better world". a good revenge tragedy will present you with a really difficult and complicated situation, even something absolutely unforgivable, and ask you to consider questions like "will this really help anyone?" "am i doing the right thing, or am i just doing what feels good?" "how far can you go before your quest for self-empowerment and personal satisfaction becomes perpetrating the same violence that you claim to be fighting against?" "what else could i do to help build a better future for myself and others, to ensure that the cycle of violence doesn't continue after justice is served?" "what went wrong here? how did something that seemed so right go so wrong?" and "what would i do in this situation?"
sayings like "those who live by the sword will die by the sword" and "those who fight monsters should take care they don't become monsters themselves" often get oversimplified, misinterpreted, and used to criticize people from feeling justifiably angry at their mistreatment and oppression, and discourage them from seeking the restitution they're owed. but when used correctly, a good revenge tragedy will employ these ideas as tools of teaching and learning, of questioning and discussion, of analysis and communication, and as a reminder to think critically and to think for yourself, not as a moral lesson. and those stories are so incredibly and important and valuable to me, and i believe that they have a very necessary place in the world.

"UWU op defends Israel UWU"-
Have I not made it clear enough what I think of the Israeli government? Have I not made it clear enough that what infuriates me the MOST about all of this shit going on is that neither government gives a damn and civilians will CONTINUE to die because Hamas and Netanyahu are cranking that war machine for their own benefit? Have I not made it clear that I think what the Israeli government is doing is fucking horrific, a war crime, murder, a violation of human rights?
Why do I even need to MAKE that clear? Why is it that you can talk about LITERALLY anything else, any other country, and people don't rush to fucking accuse you of personally supporting the government when you discuss the wrongs committed against a people, but the SECOND you're a Jew you have to justify your stance about Israel?
Why is it that I cannot even be angry about the slaughter of MY FUCKING PEOPLE. Innocents. Civilians. Fucking CHILDREN. The slaughter of the Palestinian people. Innocents. Civilians. FUCKING CHILDREN.
Without one of you absolute fucking monsters deciding to slap some shit on an unrelated post about how "uwu op defends an apartheid state just ignore that"? Do you have to make it part of EVERYTHING I do? Do you consider everything I put out there tainted somehow because I don't support your joy, your cheering, your unrestrained GLEE at the murder of Jews? Do I need to publish a fucking thesis on my stance on Israel, Palestine, and their respective governments like a fucking disclaimer any time I want to talk about myself, my oppression, my experience as a Jew, or a disabled person, or a queer person, because you fuckers cannot for five seconds be NORMAL about Jews?
To decide to slap something about Israel and Palestine on a post I made about MY oppression, about how people will oppress you no matter who you actually are- it all depends who they think you are. It's a bit ironic, isn't it? Doesn't QUITE fit, but it's funny that someone would read that post, agree with it, and then think "Ah yes, THIS is the place to put some tags about how OP, a Jew who has been reeling for the last couple of weeks about the violence, who has been checking on their Israeli friends every day to make sure they aren't fucking dead, who is dealing with vicious antisemitism from people who they thought were friends, who watched as the people claiming to be progressive supporters of human rights on this hellsite and others OVERWHELMINGLY reply to the murder of their people with good they deserved it fuck you, is CLEARLY a defender of an apartheid state and that makes them a bad person because something something I don't know what nuance tastes like and I am a bigoted ass."
I am TIRED.
