Tokyo Godfathers
A moving, funny, movie with mature themes about a homeless trio
Tumblr media
Seeing this movie after Christmas Day has become a holiday tradition for me. As gritty as it gets, the ending is very satisfying.
Speaking of the ending, pay close attention during the hospital scene. The ending's impact goes deeper if you do!
The story goes like this:
Middle-aged alcoholic Gin, teenage runaway Miyuki and former drag queen Hana are a trio of homeless people surviving as a makeshift family on the streets of Tokyo. While rummaging in the trash for food on Christmas Eve, they stumble upon an abandoned newborn baby in a trash bin. With only a handful of clues to the baby's identity, the three misfits search the streets of Tokyo for help in returning the baby to its parents

My Review of The Muppet Christmas Carol
Tumblr media
The Muppet Christmas Carol is a delightful and heartwarming holiday film that tells the classic Charles Dickens story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his redemption through the power of Christmas. Starring Michael Caine as Scrooge and the Muppets as the other characters, the film is a unique and charming take on the timeless tale.
One of the things that sets The Muppet Christmas Carol apart from other holiday films is its clever and humorous script, which is full of wit and clever jokes. The Muppets, as always, bring a unique and lovable energy to the film, and their interaction with the human characters is both amusing and heartwarming.
Another standout aspect of the film is its talented cast, which includes Michael Caine as Scrooge and Dave Goelz as the voice of Gonzo, who plays Charles Dickens in the film. Caine's gruff and grumpy portrayal of Scrooge is spot-on, and Goelz's wry and charming performance as Dickens adds a delightful touch to the film.
Overall, The Muppet Christmas Carol is a delightful and heartwarming holiday film that is sure to bring a smile to your face and get you in the Christmas spirit. Its clever and humorous script and talented cast make it a must-see for fans of holiday films and anyone looking for a little bit of holiday cheer.

Home Alone 1 & II is pretty amazing as a family dynamic and social dynamic.
Without much interaction with Buzz McAlister, we as the audience learn that he is probably a school bully, generates a toxic and emotionally damaging home environment for Kevin, and he's the sort of person that would belittle minimum wage workers and be an complete Karen/Ken if he didn't get his way.
AND THE MOM ALWAYS TAKES THE SIDE OF BUZZ, because he's a manipulative, narcissists

I think Home Alone is the funniest Christmas movie ever
Aside from the 'violence' at the hands of a child that the robbers endured, which is sorta overkill in adulthood, it's an overall good, funny, and feel-good holiday film and always a holiday tradition. I watched Home Alone the other day for the second time this week.
An especially funny moment is like the whole thing with the weird gangster movie kevin records to freak out anyone and everyone who comes over to the house, lol. "keep the change filthy animal." that poor young pizza boy was all shaken up, lmao.)
Every year without fail my bf and I go, "What does Kevin Mcallister's dad do for a living to afford a Paris vacation for 12 plus people, including his cheapskate bro and his wife and kids, and live in an architectural digest-esque home? where 100+ dollar pizza night happen?" Must be nice! It pretty much goes without saying that the house is GORGEOUS. He probably made bank, even if it's just a movie.
I love this time of year because I'm always watching my holiday movies, and even if Home Alone isn't my favorite, I really love a lot of it it's seasonally appropriate, and find myself quoting this and others throughout the season. It gets me all festive in the Christmas spirit!🎅
Elf, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, Mixed Nuts (a new addition to the faves! (I recommend it if you haven't seen it the prev. mentioned already), and a few others on my list, including holiday episodes of my fave shows, are my true forever favorites, an every-year tradition.
Anyway, thanks for the message🎄💌.
