V-force Hiromi thank you for being the icon ever, being chaotic and silly (esp that punch like yas gurl throw hands!! <3) like the others while being the mom friend of the group and doing an actual good job at consoling Takao/keeping him in line while being mature about his feelings too, being a therapist to Kai and many more moments. She's basically the emotional stability the gang lacked previously. And lets not forget the boat scene in the movie when Daichi was telling Hiromi about how his dad died and why he was hell bent on beating Takao, her response was that of understanding as she got where Daichi was coming from as a kid who was trying to fullfill his father's last wish, that was very sweet of her ngl (Takao's response to Daichi's revelation was sweet too, in his own way. I might make another post on that. Personally I prefer their dynamic in the movie than in G-revolution tbh. Also the idea if the team randomly adopting a tiny homeless redheaded gremlin is wayy funnier, like "oh, he's not gonna leave us be, and he doesnt have a home to go back to, guess he's staying with us now huh. Welcome to the gang bud" *daichi proceeds to latch onto them like a leech*)

favorite queer retellings/interpretations of arthurian legend
hello anon!
this simple question has a complicated answer if only bc some authors seem to have created queer stories unintentionally! & i like them! i'll include quotes from my suggestions below a cut as there will be some mild spoilers but that may help you decide what stories suit your tastes as they vary a lot. you can also just go ahead & assume kay & agravaine are always queer (bc they are, not accepting crit) which makes narrowing down the list difficult for me.
TL;DR: Camelot 3000 Mike W. Barr & Brian Bolland, Exiled From Camelot/Trial of Sir Kay/Hunt for Hart Royal by Cherith Baldry, Spear Nicola Griffith, Guinevere/Morgan/Morgawse by Lavinia Collins, The Queen's Knight by Marvin Borowsky, Arthur Rex by Thomas Berger, The Road to Avalon by Joan Wolf.
Camelot 3000 by Mike W. Barr & Brian Bolland: reincarnation story with transman sir tristan coming to terms with his gender & sexuality so he can accept isolde's love for him & reciprocate. it's really beautifully written imo plus the art is so 80s & my exact cup of tea. it's dated in some of its handling of the subject matter but i think it was done thoughtfully for the time.
Tumblr media
Exiled From Camelot, The Trial of Sir Kay, The Hunt for The Hart Royal by Cherith Baldry: the way baldry writes is overall my favorite ever but her kay is unparalleled he is everything to me. unequivocally disinterested in women (without misogyny, very important note). codependent on gawain if not fully in love with him the crown style. lots of hurt/comfort, kissing, holding & worrying over each other. they exchange a ring for god's sake. in exiled it says ragnelle was the only woman for gawain (based) but after she passed he's all kay's basically so this checks all my boxes. love wins.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spear by Nicola Griffith: butch perceval pulling bitches chapter after chapter it's glorious. ends up settling down with nimue. bonus throuple arthur/guin/lance with a very sweet moment with lance talking to percy about them both. no homophobia (external nor internal) to be found its very enjoyable. beautiful prose. audiobook was wonderfully narrated by the author, which is how i read it, thus i've written out a quote here:
"Secrets may prove a burden. So...Lance, my mother is indeed Merlin's sister but I am not Merlin's sister's son." Lance frowned. "I don't understand..." "I am not his sister's son." His eyes stretched wide. He reassessed the line of her jaw, the size of her hands. She nodded. Then he reassessed how she and Nimue sat with one another. This time, Nimue nodded.
Guinevere, Morgan, & Morgawse by Lavinia Collins: these aren't my favorite (did gawain really dirty, deal breaker) but the fact is they have multiple explicitly queer characters including: kay, lancelot, morgawse, agravaine, isolde, dinadan, etc. plus there were several poly scenes including one with guin/lance/kay, another morgawse/lot/visiting king/queen swinging. wild all around everyone is sleeping with everyone no character is unaccounted for. be warned these books are extremely graphic in every conceivable way. queer solidarity in the face of homophobia is a theme throughout. kay punches phobic urien & agravaine "saw nothing." shh its fine urien sucks. this hilarious convo between agravaine & morgawse kills me.
Tumblr media
The Queen's Knight by Marvin Borowsky: an interesting retelling in which mordred is a grown up warlord right from the outset. he also happens to be queer. mind this came out in the 50s & contains pederasty, but mordred does later have a loving tragic relationship with fellow knight calogrenant (yay crackships<3), which others were aware of & helped conceal (kay, for example). agravaine is also queer, he only joins arthur's forces bc lancelot asks him to & continues to fixate on him for the whole book. typical.
Tumblr media
Arthur Rex by Thomas Berger: so this book is super homophobic. but it's so homophobic that it circles back around to being pretty queer bc berger saw queerness everywhere, apparently. but the green knight is purposefully queer, so the kissing game's gender-role-reversal/bisexuality....escalates. david lowery wishes. both gawain & arthur are pretty homoromantic with lancelot to the point the narrative calls attention to it & then no-homos their closeness. agravaine appears to be queer too. he's the only unmarried brother (claims to be in love with guinevere but i don't buy it), he wants lancelot so bad he gets all tongue tied & stupid around him...wrecked.
Tumblr media
The Road to Avalon by Joan Wolf: what's this? agravaine again? so in this version, lancelot is named bedwyr (inspired by mary stewart's quadrilogy) but he's lance in all but name. anyway agravaine constantly beefs with guinevere for his attention...& loses. plus it's implied agravaine slept with lamorak before his mother which is hysterical. (my fave crackship is thriving<3) agravaine topples the empire for a much older straight man. it would be funny if it wasn't so sad. let's give it up for problematic jealous slutty queers.
Tumblr media
these are just the retellings i have read & liked. there are more on my retellings list but those were suggestions from others i haven't gotten to yet with the exception of dishonorable mention to the winter knight by jes battis. it has gay gawain & his bestie transgirl bi kay in that but the writing style was unbearable to me unfortunately i'm so sorry i just didn't like it. anyway thanks for the ask!

Caroline, Lexi, Rebekah
Caroline:
1: sexuality headcanon
somewhere on the queer spectrum, but less so than some of the other characters imo. also very demiromantic.
2: otp
stefan. i mean day one pilot episode it was him, and she got her june wedding just like she wanted which is Queen shit. (i do also have a soft spot for other ships with her though as i think she's one of the most shippable characters created. ie forwood, baroline, katholine, carenzo, klefaroline)
3: brotp
I think Bonnie, but like. as with every other character in the show she could have treated Bonnie so much better and the wedding invite was some bs. That being said, they were still both so much better to each other than the other half of the barolena friendship
4: notp
Other than the extremely obvious daroline? this used to be klaroline back when the show was airing, but since i don't hate them anymore, I'd say matt/caroline. he was just always pointing out her flaws in a "I'm so great for accepting you despite you" nice-guy way, while not bothering to hide that he was still in love with her best friend??, that was gross.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head
she doesn't let stefan sacrifice himself and after whatever finale fix alternative they run the school with klaus lol (idk if i like klaus as a school board figure or as a history teacher ala the hilarious bodyswapped!alaric scene but that's a different post)
6: favorite line from this character
not a line so much as an exclamation, but I adore her "Seriously?" every time. favorite quirk.
other badly paraphrased highlights off the top of my head while high: "lesbian friend necklace because we're freakly like that?" "if someone says I can't, I prove them wrong" "no one's more dangerous than who you're inviting into your bed" "come to me. whenever you need. i won't let you lose control" "I'm a good vampire. i don't go around killing people!"
7: one way in which I relate to this character
lol only one??? I'm the type A control freak, her favorite blood is B+ and that's indeed my blood type (caroline suck on me please), i was the insecure highschooler who got with an abuser, my mom died of cancer after i got close to her in adulthood...
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
this quote specifically makes me cringe every single time: "girl likes boy, boy likes girl. sex."
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
I'm probably the problematic one for thinking this considering her body count if nothing else, but cinnamon roll
Lexi
1: sexuality headcanon
bi/pan
2: otp
I don't really have one? I think she and Sheila would be adorable after reading the comic but Sheila knows better than to mess with vampires lol
3: brotp
Stefan!! ❤
4: notp
her & damon obvs
5: first headcanon that pops into my head
when stefan goes to the other side in the finale she berates him for at least a year non stop for sacrificing himself on his wedding day for damon.
6: favorite line from this character
"She was, and she will always be an epic love. Contrary to popular belief, there are actually multiple ones, especially for a vampire."
7: one way in which I relate to this character
i too ship steroline and think Stefan needs to stay off his bullshit
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
she liked damon for a second :/
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
cinnamon roll
Rebekah
1: sexuality headcanon
probably bi but I doubt she cares about labels after millenia
2: otp
her and Marcel. granted I didn't watch more than maybe a season of the originals, but still
3: brotp
Hayley
4: notp
Damon, per usual
5: first headcanon that pops into my head
at some point she finds the letters klaus sent elijah while pretending to be her while she was staked and she teases klaus relentlessly for his flowery descriptions of stefan (once the anger subsided)
6: favorite line from this character
I'm not sure I have an exact line but I did enjoy the breakfast club esque episode where she said plenty of on point, petty, hilarious things
7: one way in which I relate to this character
like she does for nohumanity!elena, i too support women's wrongs
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
weirdly, her thing for stefan? i'm not sure I could even pinpoint why tbh
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
sinnamon roll

Rant- TSP S02E08 - Peace (Part 2)
We’re back in England now.
- I see they dropped the Boleyn name FINALLY. Had absolutely zero effect imo.
- I can sort of see why Margaret Pole wouldn’t mind selling out Katherine in this version because let’s face, Katherine has been portrayed as genuinely nasty. But Mary? Did nobody think of the implications of this #Reveal for Margaret Pole’s relationship with little Mary?
- Cracking dresses Maggie’s got this episode though. Love it, especially the grey costume. Indeed there have been some nice dresses this episode, especially worn by Katherine. If it weren’t for the awful and distracting headdresses, I really would be applauding the costume department for some aesthetically pleasing if not 100% accurate gowns.
- Just a quick jump back to Fake Scotland for a minute- if they were going to do this plotline why on earth didn’t they start several episodes ago? There’s no way they can fit all of the next seven years into the next twenty minutes?
- God Henry’s beard really is bad. You don’t notice until you see it in the full light of day but it is BAD.
- I like Katherine’s implication that Wolsey is also a paid assassin. Like Henry couldn’t get somebody else to dispose of his queen in a dark wood other than a CARDINAL.
- But yeah, dump her in a wood and leave her there. That’ll work.
- The ‘Oh shit’ faces pulled by Thomas More, Margaret Pole, and Thomas Boleyn, when Katherine appears in the doorway, somehow with a horse and covered in dirt like a vengeful bog fairy, was definitely worth it though.
- Oh for goodness sake. This was a very strange flirting scene between “Meg” and don’t make me say it “Hal” Stewart. I thought we’d established last week that it wasn’t the right time? I don’t know. Margaret Tudor’s a difficult person to understand even in history, but the writers really haven’t done a good job of rendering her complex behaviour comprehensible to an audience.
- Oh for goodness SAKE it seems like weird flirting scenes are all the rage with the Tudor siblings this episode. Why could they not have introduced Anne as Henry’s mistress literally any other way? Even if the writers do think she was just a ‘pretty girl’ it was a bit more complex than ‘tits out for Henry’?
- ALSO why is NOBODY wearing proper clothes? We have established that it is WINTER and COLD. Katherine in her nightie is bad enough but Anne’s just wandering around barefoot and getting her kit off in the garden? It’s freezing put your clothes back on!
- Is it bad I kind of wanted Katherine to pull the trigger in that scene? At Henry that is, not Anne. Not because I want him dead, but because I think they could have turned this in to the most HILARIOUS murder mystery tv show. Like who killed the king? Was it the lady found half-naked over his body? Was it the ex-wife seen leaving her chambers in the night? Was it the ambitious cardinal who’s been under a lot of strain lately? Was it the ex-mistress whose son has just been promoted to the rank of duke but who might be ousted by a new mistress? Was it a spy sent down from Scotland, because it’s apparently that easy to infiltrate the tower of London? Add in one crime-solving monk and a convenient drawing room for the murderer’s identity to be Revealed in, and you have yourself a hit ITV Sunday afternoon show.
- Ok so we got the cannons Moment from Meg, not a total loss. But, um, I have a lot of Thoughts. Firstly, why is there a lady singing a Jacobite lament for no apparent reason? It has no impact if it isn’t the right context (or even culture)? Secondly, is that supposed to be 400 men? Thirdly, they know that Angus entered the town, not Holyrood or the Castle, and didn’t launch a siege of anything right? Fourthly, Angus trying to attack EDINBURGH CASTLE in broad daylight with like a dozen guys and the Earl of Lennox is ridiculously funny. This is not 1313 and you are not Thomas Randolph (or even the Black Douglas at Roxburgh). Go home Angus, you are drunk.
- Watching Margaret Tudor with cannons: Origin story for Henry Stewart, Master of Artillery. Good or bad I can’t tell right now.
- But seriously are they trying to imply that Margaret Tudor went mad? Because I don’t know about you, but presenting a complex historical woman’s confusing changes of allegiance as her being a bit nuts is not exactly the most feminist way to go.
- “I want more sugared apricots” oh don’t we all Henry Fitzroy
- Ah the Symbolic Bird. Another missed opportunity for the dead parrot sketch.
- Ok I LOVE the gable hood FINALLY. Thirty years too late but still.
- Why is Katherine at the door with her bags and the kid like they live in a 1950s house in the suburbs instead of a royal palace?
- Ok but a ‘small household’ does not mean just the birdcage and no coat for your only daughter in the midst of winter. Seriously would somebody give the poor kid some warm clothes.
- Oh I don’t even know where to begin with this final scene but there is INHERENT comedy in using the bird as a symbol for Mary and Katherine’s hopes, saying “You are England’s future Mary”, then throwing a tame budgerigar out into a cold English winter where it will almost certainly die. What an ending folks.
- Lastly, I don’t know about England where it’s meant to be 1531, but in Scotland, it is still 1524. We are apparently not supposed to mention this.
Well I think in the end I’ll miss this show. It HAS given me a lot of laughs. And like I know that any drama involves a lot of work, so credit to everyone who did their best, even if it was ultimately ruined by some questionable writing and plot choices, and some decidedly Un-feminist writing wrapped up as Girl Power. Oh the show that could have been...

My favorite line(s) from each Hamilton song – Part Three
Part Two
Part One
Tumblr media
What’d I Miss?
Where have you been? – Uuuh, France?
+ The fact that this was originally improvised by Daveed Diggs and it was kept in
 Cabinet Battle #1
Look, when Britain taxed out tea, we got frisky Imagine what gon’ happen if you try to tax our whiskeyyyyy
mic drop
You don’t have the votes AH HA HA HA you’re gonna need congressional approval and you don’t have the votes
Such a blunder, sometimes it makes me wonder why I even bring the thunder Why he even brings the thunder
This just speaks so much for Jefferson’s and Madison’s characters, plus it’s iconic
 Take A Break
(with Eliza beatboxing)
My name is Phillip I am a poet I wrote this poem just to show it And I just turned nine You can write rhymes but you can’t write MIne (WHaT)
And the rest of Phillip’s poem aaaah he’s just so pure in this :,-) I also love both his parent’s during this, so wholesome
 Say No To This
Did I say ‘wholesome’? I actually meant
nO, NO
and also:
You see, that was my wife who you decided toFUUUuuuuuuu
Lmfao
 The Room Where It Happens
Straight up, the whole song. Definitely my favorite in the whole musical. But I guess my favorite line would be
My God in God we trust, but we never really know what God discussed (hah) Click, boom, then it happened AnD NO One else was is the room where it happened
The way Leslie Odom Jr. says/sings that … idk, it just really appeals to me. Also, like, the choreography for that number? Uuuugh so GOOD!
 Schuyler Defeated
FurTheR dOwN, fURtHer DoWn
With that familiar melody, geniussssss
 Cabinet Battle #2
you must be out of your GODDAMN MIND if you think,
I love how Jefferson just stays completely calm when Hamilton suddenly screams at him, like, makes me think he has snapped before during one of their debates and at this point you just have to expect it at some point lmaoooo but also very in character for Hamilton, AND understandable, Jefferson’s very annoying indeed
A game of chess, where France is king and queen-less
I mean, that just such a great line … LMM HOW do you write so good
ALso, I really wanted to link this one really great post here, it’s about when Jefferson says “Did you forget Lafayette?” and then OP put this one scene in Mulan where she holds up her hair into a bun to show the villain she’s the ‘man’. Nvm I can’t explain it well enough but I hope you’ve seen it or will someday because it’s the best
 Washington On Your Side
Someone on Youtube captioned Jefferson’s little laughs at the beginning when Burr first starts to sing as ‘awkward unimpressed chuckling’ and I think that’s genius so I’ll just put it here (note that you can only hear it in the movie itself, it’s not included in the recordings)
*awkward unimpressed chuckling*
BUt also the fact that Jefferson repeatedly mentions Hamilton’s clothes and how he dresses in a rather inappropriate way when meanwhile HE is the one wearing a PINK VELVET COAT is one of the funniest things in the whole musical to me
and in this number when he’s like
The way he primps and preens and dresses like the pits of fashion
I THINK Burr also notices this and even tries to point it out a little, at least that’s what I get from his mimics and gestures in that moment, but maybe that’s just my headcanon lol
 One Last Time
This whole song is really beautiful and tear-jerking ngl :(
Though, in reviewing the incidents of my administration, I am unconscious of intentional error, I am nevertheless too sensible of my defects not to think it probable that I may have committed many errors.
And the rest of the farewell address. Honestly, knowing this is the real transcript of the real speech the real Washington gave and that it was written by the real Hamilton just makes this (real) special imo
 I Know Him
They say George Washington’s yielding his power and stepping away Is that true? I wasn’t aware that was something a person could do
King George really never fails to make me laugh (also can we talk about what Jonathan Groff did with his literal 9 minutes on stage?? amazing)
 The Adams Administration
Literally just the chaos that ensues on stage after Hamilton drops his newspapers
Note that 1) King George runs away in a hilarious manner and 2) Jefferson is actually startled/scared lmaooo
 We Know
hAH! You don’t even know what you’re asking me to confess (CoNfEsS!)
I just love that moment idk it’s kinda satisfying (haha) to see Burr, Madison and Jefferson thinking they have Hamilton cornered only to find out they assumed the completely wrong thing – I mean, at that point, I think I was still kinda rooting for Hamilton ngl
No one else was in the room where it happens …
Idk I just think it’s a very clever little reference, and coming from Burr, I mean, he must know … also Leslie Odom Jr.’s voice is just such a blessing to the ears
Aaand done. Well, almost. Part 4 is here!

Dramas you're currently enjoying?
Airing ones:
Chocolate - if you are a fan of old-school melo, this is a must. It’s pretty slow but it’s part of its charm and I am loving YKS and HJW separately and together.
Crash Landing on You - it’s hilarious and addictive and I love all the characters except the bad guys and am goner for the OTP. I need to binge on this but alas two eps a week will have to suffice.
Joy of Life - that one’s Chinese. Just wacky good period fun with some smarts in it.
Psychopath Diary - cooky off-kilter fun. I never know where it’s going to go and YSY is having a complete blast.
Queen: Love and War - it’s a sageuk about queen selection and conspiracies and murders and feisty heroine and childhood love and powerless hot angsty king and basically it has my name all over it.
I am also watching a few dramas that are complete:
Because This Is My First Life - I love watching the main OTP; they are such lovely people. The rest of the stuff (like heroine’s friends) bores me and imo drama spends too much time on them.
The Legend of the Blue Sea - cracky adult fairytale, with two ships for the price of one (reincarnation FTW) and two of my favorite actors as leads. I am basically in permanent swoon with this one.
Rebel - Thief Who Stole the People. Not loving this one. It’s competently made but I only like Gil Dong himself. I have a problem telling his band of miscreants apart, lady characters not exciting and all the time spent on mad king makes me mad indeed, with boredom. But I am rooting for Gil Dong somehow, so here I am.
Six Flying Dragons - this is how you make a sageuk. It’s brainy AND makes me emotionally attached. And the cast is amazing.
Tomorrow with You. My perfect drama. It’s smart, it’s moving, it feels real and the OTP owns my socks.

give me ALL THE QUESTIONS THEN please
MelloxMatt:
1. Who makes the first move and how?
Technically Mello, even though Matt had flirted with him for literal years:
“Hey Mello, your ass look great in those pants.”
“Yeah? Wanna touch it?”
“Are you fucking with me?”
“Only if you kiss me first.”
2. Who is the most insecure and what makes them feel better?
Definitely Mello. And like a lot of other DN characters, Mello places his entire sense of self-worth on a single goal, so there isn’t much you could try to cheer him up with. But I think he probably appreciates how much Matt trusts him and his abilities & Matt knows that there’s not much else he can do for him. Mello is not exactly the type who lets himself getting comforting by some nice words.
3. Who is the most romantic?
Neither of them is terribly romantic, haha. And that’s probably what they like about each other.
4. Who can’t keep their hands to themselves?
Matt. He doesn’t care what other people think and Mello wears clothes that are nice to touch all the time, so it’s his fault anyway (from point of his view). Mello doesn’t really mind as long as Matt doesn’t get his leather dirty.
5. Who says ‘I love you’ first?
Poor Mello is completely stunted emotionally, so I guess that falls on Matt. It would be in the middle of them lazing around & eating junk food together. “Dude, I love you, you know that, right?”
6. Who would they ask if they ever had a threesome?
Matt would ask Near just for the lolz. Mello isn’t interested in casual threesomes so this would only work in a polyamorous relationship, imo.
7. What do they get up to on a night out?
They would break into an observatory or some shit
8. What do they like in bed?
I like to think of Mello as a powerbottom. He’s very intense and straightforward with lots of biting kisses, tongue, and tugging, and Matt would totally be into that. Probably loves to get ridden by Mello. And honestly, I think getting topped by Mello would be a scary but interesting experience - something you only want to do a couple of times. So while Matt wouldn’t be totally against it, he would only do it every few months or so.
Matt would also love to watch Mello strip, while Mello would get turned on by Matt’s adoring gaze. (Totally another DN character with a praise kink, ha!)
They would also be into simple humping and handjobs, I think, but I also hc Mello to be someone who gives great head, so yeah.
I’m sure both of them are pretty dirty and kinky, so I don’t even want to know what else they might do with each other.
9. What is the most embarrassing thing they have done in front of each other?
Like L, Matt does everything in front of his partner. But one of the most embarrassing things was actually when he kicked in his monitor because some 12 years old set his helicopter on fire in GTA.
The most embarrassing thing Mello did, was falling asleep with a piece of chocolate in his open mouth.
10. What two songs, two books and two luxury items do they take to a desert island?
Mello: Never Enough by The Cure, probably one of his own unfinished books so he can work on it there, a gun
Matt: Make It Wit Chu by Queens of The Stone Age, some shitty erotica, his NIntendo DS
11. What do they hide from one another?
Mello hides how hard he actually works. He wants to look competent and ingeniouseffortlessly.
Matt probably only hides some of his more disgusting porn magazines, haha
12. What first changes when it starts getting serious?
Their relationship is based on a years-long friendship and I don’t think much would change. One day, they would look back and realise how long they already know each other, how long they made this relationship work and that they’re still an extremely good team, and that’s it.
13. When do they realise they should get together?
After the first time they have sex. Turns out sleeping with someone you care about can be more fulfilling than casual sex, after all.
14. When one has a cold, what does the other do?
Mello sends Matt to the bedroom because he doesn’t want his bacteria anywhere near him.
Matt probably just laughs at Mello sniffling and sweating andmaybe offers him minty bubble gum.
15. When they watch a film what do they choose and why? Who gets the final vote?
I think they both are fans of Tarantino but it’s definitely Mello who gets the final vote, if they can’t agree on a movie. Matt also likes stuff with zombies, while Mello finds them ugly and prefers movies with a nicer (but still gritty) aesthetic.
16. When the zombie apocalypse comes, how do they cope together?
With lots of dark humour, guns, and geekiness. They would do well enough, I imagine.
17. When they find a time machine, where do they go?
Oooh, that’s interesting! Probably to the future, but not to a date too many years ahead. Matt wants to see new technology and Mello just likes knowing things no one else knows about.
This actually sounds like a hilarious AU idea!
18. When they fight, how do they make up?
Matt will mainly make up via lame jokes but in a way that would make it clear to Mello that he’s sincerely sorry. Mello would simply invite Matt to a ride on his bike. If he’s still angry, though, it wouldn’t be the most comfortable experience, haha.
19. Where do they go on their first date?
I doubt they would go on “dates”
20. Where do they go on holiday?
Mainly California and Japan. I also have this hc that they would eventually buy a house in Brazil.
21. Where do they get nervous about going with one another?
They would be a bit nervous about the possibility of ruining their lifelong friendship but otherwise they feel pretty secure and chill with each other & don’ think there’s much to worry about
22. Where does their first kiss happen?
In a shitty hotel room, right after Matt compliments Mello’s ass for the 973th time
23. Where is their favourite place to be together?
In Matt’s car
24. Where do they first have sex?
Also in a shitty hotel room - most likely on the floor. Mello prefers to have sex on hard surfaces & they rarely do it in bed.
25. Why do they fight?
They don’t fight often but Mello gets angry at Matt when he can sense that he’s worried about him. He wants Matt’s complete trust, no matter how insane his plans are.
26. Why do they need to have a serious chat?
Uuh, definitely about Mello’s inferiority complex. Good luck, Matt, I don’t want to be you.
27. Why do their friends get annoyed with them?
Because they so obviously have all those secret schemes and love to act self-important, like a power couple of one of the movies they love so much. They think they’re supercool, and sometimes they are, but often enough it’s just annoying.
28. Why do they get jealous?
Mello gets jealous because Matt doesn’t shut up about all the models, actors, and video game characters he finds hot. Even though Mello knows it doesn’t mean anything, it still annoys him a bit. Matt only feels a little jealous of Near sometimes, because he seems to be on Mello’s mind so often.
29. Why do they fall a little bit more in love?
After many years, Mello realises that Matt indeed always has his back. He can trust him to bail him out of everything, he’s incredibly crafty, and, that’s something Mello almost doesn’t want to admit, Matt puts up with a lot of bullshit because of him.
Matt mainly falls more in love with Mello because of his incredible fighting spirit, creativity and ambition. He can’t relate to how hard Mello tries but he still finds it inspiring and admirable.
30. Why does it work (or not work) between them?
It works because of how long they’ve known each other; they’re a well practised team and they compliment each other well, all while being mostly chill and honest with each other

Thoughts on The Legend of Korra Turf Wars (Part Two)
What’s up fellow Avatar fans? It looks like it’s that time again for me to rant and rave about the second part of Turf Wars. Feel free to check out my previous recap and review of part one here if you like. And as always, be mindful of major spoilers if you haven’t read the comics. Undercutting as usual because I love to ramble too much lol and it is a recap as well as a review so….
With all of that said, we’re picking up right where we left off in part one where the spirits returned to the spirit world through the portal after all that drama that went down among them, Team Avatar and Tokuga/Triple Threat Triads….or so we thought.
Damn…the spirits were not messing around when they said they were gonna get the hell out of dodge and that they want nothing to do with the humans and hate that the portals exist….they didn’t just pack a few spirit bags….they took the whole damn landscape with them (they really should offer a moving service I mean really. They didn’t even leave the spiritual kitchen sink here…)….so much for the beautiful Korrasami grove….I shared in Meelo’s disappointment there… I was looking forward to seeing that spot (again for us) in all its glory…oh well. But all joking aside….this message the spirits sent was just as cold and desolate as they left this place. Something’s got to give with these human/spirit relation issues…
These bleak first pages did a good job setting up the overall hopeless situational tone for this part of the story because things start bad….and they more or less stay that way because then General Iroh shows up with an army of troops to lockdown the spirit portal under President Raiko’s orders (of course). Was I the only one slightly disappointed with Iroh’s portrayal here? He seemed a bit too stiff and overly formal here (and a bit of a political tool here if I’m being candid) with Korra and the others? I don’t know, it just seemed to clash with his previous attitude. He seems like a guy who would follow orders but would find loopholes (book two comes to mind). around if he could (or at the very least not be so overly formal with Korra. (Am I making sense here? I can’t quite pinpoint my minor issue with the General on these pages….).Anyway, to Iroh’s credit he does direct Korra to President Raiko since his hands actually are tied here.
On a lighter note, leave it to Bolin to lighten the mood no matter how dire things get. I love how he put the Korrasami kiss info in his police report about Tokuga. More so Chief Beifong’s reaction (I swear this woman is the queen of “huh…whatever”). And of course politics and influence screw over any sort of action the Chief could take against Keum (and that’s part of what bites them in the ass later but more on that in a bit). Time to go hunting for some hard evidence boys! Let’s pay a visit to our favorite hexadactyly gangster Two-Toed Ping.
I have to say, I love how they’re portraying Bolin in these comics. So far they’ve found that sweet spot where they keep with his silly and fun nature without flanderizing him solely into cringeworthy comic relief. It’s just a small moment when he recalls his days of relaying messages as kids during his (and Mako’s) gang days while they’re questioning Two-Toed Ping but it was still worth noting to me. Good job Bo!
Meanwhile back with Korra and Raiko…..here we go again with this impossible jackass….well if nothing else, Raiko can play politics I’ll give him that. I love how Korra just Earthbends a muzzle on the assistant’s mouth and walks right past him like he’s not there! And he’s in the background struggling to remove it! Hilarious! But it seems like I spoke too soon in my previous review of part one when I said I was happy that the citizens of Republic City weren’t just blaming Korra for everything. I can forgive them for being a bit miffed at her (and Asami) for going on a vacation (from their perspective) while they were still homeless and destitute, but they seem to be ignoring the fact that President Raiko was too busy with his campaign to step up right away as well and didn’t even bother to check on the refugees until it was convenient for him and had to have someone literally spell it out to him that helping the refugees rebuild their homes would help save his candidacy…wow I mean the unmitigated gall here am I right folks? WTF?
Korra and Asami have a bit of an awkward moment shortly after. Seems like Raiko’s political bullshit, the refugees’ crappy attitudes towards Korra and co’s efforts to you know, keep the entire city from crashing and burning despite the collateral damage, and Korra having to break the news to Asami about their special wonderland getaway place in the spirit world being turned into a dilapidated dump practically overnight soured poor Korra’s mood here just a little bit, I mean we know how that goes right? Asami tries to reassure her here but I don’t it worked that well this time sadly. I wish I could say “things get better Korra don’t worry”….but….
Anyway…enough doom and gloom (for now). Once again, Bolin plays the role of audience surrogate hilariously too well. But before that, he also shows how well he can spin a story and suggests he and Mako film a mover about their cop adventures. I’d watch it lol. I also how he immediately pegs himself as the good cop and Mako as the bad cop (and how hilariously ironic that ends up being later). Mako seems to disagree and is a bit grouchier than usual (according to Bolin anyway). “Why are you so cranky, anyway? Is it because your two ex-girlfriends are dating each other now?” Face it you guys, if any of you say this thought hadn’t crossed your minds at least once, you’re lying and you shall not convince me otherwise! “You don’t seem cool with it.”
I love the face Mako makes when Bolin asked him point blank though. Jokes at his expense aside, don’t worry Mako. I’m rooting for you to find your special someone someday (more comics after Turf Wars are always good after all). I do like how they’re not afraid to poke a little harmless fun at him.
Sadly we don’t get a straight answer on that big elephant-rhino here because a street urchin we met briefly WAY back like four years ago in the narrative (Book 1) makes a return: Skoochy. They run him down and Bolin shows us that he may actually have more potential for the bad cop role than he thinks….practically threw the kid into the wall….damn what got into him?
Eventually, they get the kid to relent some information about the Triple Threat Triad hideout…..whether or not that information would actually be reliable by the time they investigated it would sadly end up being another matter entirely (seriously, I’m not the only one who saw that coming, right?). I did predict that the info would be bunk by the time they got there (Two Toed Ping said as such because The Triple Threats switch bases frequently) but I didn’t predict….well that….but we’ll get to that….
Now we’re back with Asami and she ends up with some very unexpected guests: Jargala and the Creeping Crystals. One of my RL friends said that Jargala resembled a buffed up Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame and she half expected Quasimodo to follow Jargala into the room….it wasn’t a complaint or anything but it was a bit funny to hear her say that especially since I sort of had a similar thought beforehand (we were on the same page there no pun intended). Just felt like sharing but I’ve digressed. Jargala and her gang barge right in, she starts calling Asami sweetheart in a condescending manner (which Asami is quick to shoot that noise down) and offers a business proposition: protection in exchange for a small fee. How’s that for an establishing character moment? Asami breaks out the equalist glove as a rebuttal. How’s that for a “hell no?” To Jargala’s credit, she takes it in stride and gives Asami “a few days to reconsider the offer”….yeah that’s not ominous at all…
Now we’re at the Triple Threat Triad base and we have confirmation that Viper is indeed dead. The Triad doesn’t seem too pleased with the way their new boss is running things or at the very least they’re justifiably wary of the cold bastard. Speak of the devil and he shall appear they say. As soon as they start voicing their discontent with Toguka, the kid in question makes an appearance and nearly strangles Zhen (the “old timer”) to death and makes it very clear that he’s sticking around. The speech he gives as Chief Beifong and her team are infiltrating the Triads’ (supposed) Base (as its not the true base and is rigged to explode) is pretty chilling and IMO deserves recognition in its own right (even if it is long here):
“Take a good look, everyone. This is the new face of your leader. So you better get used to it, because I’m not going anywhere. That spirit intended to kill me. Instead I’ve become stronger…..quicker….and the changes are more than just physical. My mind is sharper and clearer than it’s ever been.
You could say I’ve had an awakening. I’ve seen beyond my initial vision for the Triple Threats. I realized my plan for us was too small…and far too limiting. Fighting with the Creeping Crystals over a few city blocks isn’t worth our time and effort….and serving as someone else’s muscle is beneath us. From now on, we call the shots.
My new aim is for the Triple Threats to seize control of Republic City and become the most dominant Triad in history. We will possess enormous financial and military power. I’ve made an arrangement with Wonyong Keum to become our new benefactor, so our money problem is solved. And There’s a weapons depot outside the city where the police are keeping all the tanks airships, and mecha-suits from Kuvira’s failed invasion. There’s a whole army’s worth of equipment just sitting there, waiting for us to put it to good use.
Soon, the police, President Raiko, even the Avatar….they will all answer to me. But in order for us to evolve, the old regime must die. And the first to go will be Chief Beifong and her Triad Task Force. We will prove to Republic City that the Triple Threats are a force to be feared. This city will belong to us!
But in order for our takeover to be successful, I need to know you’re all behind me. Victory will only come through unity.”
Ho…ly….shit! The Triple Threats are 100% done with kiddie games here folks. With them nearly blowing up Chief Beifong and her Task Force to Kingdom Come….shit just got real with a quickness! Like I said earlier, had they not completely dismissed Keum from the start (as Mako points out after nearly getting killed in the explosion) they might have found something sooner (though I do get where the Chief was coming from but still). Mako and Bolin are left now with no other choice but to go around the chief and political red tape to find answers. That Keum guy was hardly sympathetic but it is more than a little troubling to discover that the guy has been missing for a few days. That can only spell disaster given his money and influence….
Meanwhile back with Korra and Asami, I love how Korra is just like “damn it man can I just see my girl already?! Sheesh!” They swap stories about their run ins with the out of control gangs, Korra goes into protective girlfriend mode and Asami sort of rebuffs her (though she’s quick to explain what she meant). These two gotta get it together though I do like that things between them aren’t just hunky dory. I mean, that they have some issues with communication, they’re both independent and Asami knows that Korra already has far too many people depending on her on the regular so Asami would like to handle her own problems (you know one less burden for “Avatar” Korra or rather her over burdened girlfriend she loves). Though Korra misreads that way of thinking in general because she loves Asami and would want to help her regardless (or at least that’s the way I read it all. Feel free to message me with any other insights with that).
Anyway, Varrick makes an appearance here! I love the bait and switch with the massage thing they pulled. We’re led to believe that Varrick would receive the massage instead (and he does start that way lol. He wouldn’t be Varrick otherwise) but he actually does give Zhu Li a quick shoulder rub instead (aww….) and is generally supportive of her running for President (and just supportive in general). It’s a work in progress granted, but the fact that there IS some obvious and sincere progress here means something with these particular characters. Anyway, I’m hoping Zhu Li wins the Presidential election but I’m legit disappointed that Poki couldn’t be a candidate…..hey we still got one more part here….it could happen…maybe….
Uh-oh looks like Korra got stood up by Asami (yeah right!). I do like that Korra doesn’t jump to that conclusion (further showing how much they trust each other despite their many many awkward miscommunication issues at the moment) and rather she suspects (rightfully) that something bad happened to Asami instead. She (along with Bolin and Mako) rush to Asami’s new office only to find evidence of a fight they missed out on and Asami’s no where to be found. Considering what Asami told Korra earlier about the Creeping Crystals paying her a visit a few days prior, she’s not just rushing off on a whim here. More riled up than usual she rushes to the Creeping Crystals’ hideout without a second thought. And I love how Jargala is basically all like “No really….Asami’s not here, but since you went through the trouble to break down the door feel free to look around” with this casual tone like they’re talking about the weather. I’m hoping she and the Creeping Crystals play a larger role in the third part. Would like to see more of her.
Back at Air Temple Island, Tenzin and his family are voicing their discontent with Raiko and his incompetence along with his blatant abuse of his power. Meelo suggests marching on the portal (that kid wants far too much bloodshed for a supposed peaceful monk lol). Tenzin wants it to be a peaceful march much to Meelo’s disappointment. Though to his credit he’s “willing to try his dad’s idea first” lol.
Anyway back with Korra….huh turns out the Creeping Crystals didn’t have Asami after all. Jargala tells Korra to get lost before they make her. “I’d like to see you try” is Korra’s response. Me too for that matter! I guess I’m like Meelo. When are we gonna get an actual fight here…?……
….Okay…..nevermind…just as Bolin and Mako are bringing Korra up to speed about Wonyong Keum, Chief Beifong calls for all available hands to report to the Police Depot because Tokuga and the Triple Threats are at it again!
So, on the scene Kuvira’s death bots make a return (well at least they’re not twenty stories tall and equipped with instant death spirit ray power. Take what small breaks are available I suppose) as well as Tokuga in his half spiritual mutated glory….only to give Korra a rather hypocritical speech about learning that her actions have consequences (as if he did nothing to antagonize the spirits and brought his fate on himself). Damn….this dude is worse than Zaheer with that whole “never my fault” bullshit he’s got going on…Thankfully Mako calls him on that noise though it does very little good here….Tokuga rather smugly gloats that they swiped Asami from right under their noses and basically blackmails Team Avatar to surrender or she dies. Korra blames herself, and Tokuga and the Triple Threats march on Republic City with all of Kuvira’s mechs….oh dear…Not quite sure how I feel about that last shot of Asami. It seems like they’re portraying her to be far more helpless than she is (I hope that’s subverted with the next part).
Overall, a solid continuation. Though part two IMO has this sort of “middle part syndrome” where it feels like a lot happened and yet nothing happened at the same time (does that make any sense?). They certainly raised the stakes with the main plot but there’s been no real progress with the human/spirits (yet and still), the presidential election (will someone just impeach or assassinate Raiko already I mean damn? This point was really dragging to me), the townspeople are basically back to blaming Korra for everything etc. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still super stoked for part three. What about the rest of you? What did you like or hate about part two?
