Carmen Sandiego (2019) line decomposition

Carmen wants Shadowsan to be able to rekindle things with Hideo, but the fact she says that it's only 'a part of' her that wants that kind of shows her attachment to him. We know that she's had encounters with him during The French Connection Caper and then in The Hot Rocks of Rio Caper he starts to subtly 'transfer' to her side, betraying VILE, but somehow in the process she seems to have this cling to him. I personally think it's because Shadowsan was the one who failed her and tried to stop her escape, but when he starts to seemingly 'care' about her she wants to start their relationship anew.

She seems to have this defensive/vulnerable position (arms crossed and nearly curled up in the shape of a ball, which is usually a human defence mechanism), and from the surface you can tell she's miserable/worried/nervous because she doesn't want to lose her newfound connection with Shadowsan. Part of me wonders if she seems to have some defensive rebellion to this thought to tell herself that she'll live with what she has even if it breaks her heart.

Honestly, this part is relatable because I myself sometimes want to get on good terms with people who I'm on a bad note with, so the urge to just do whatever you can to keep a hold on them is really strong.

Carmen sees Shadowsan as one of her parents/ her father figure, which she really needs in her life because her biological father is deceased (sorry).

How I see it is that she wants to have her old life back. A supportive family, caring teammates, a blissful life. It's a stark contrast to what I believe is going on in her mind- no family (or the horrible realisation her family is evil and using her for their own good), having to battle her teammates and former family almost every day/caper, and a rocky life full of ups and downs (mostly downs...?). So any chance she gets, she's willing to take it and try to change her fate.

She doesn't want to go on defeating her old family and friends, but with the world in danger choice isn't a factor. If she stops, the world is basically just dead. She doesn't want others to suffer under their torturous hand. But on the way some things (such as Shadowsan) come, unexpected and sudden, holding the opportunity to cause change, and she just takes it and gives her all into changing her life.

So her desperation to change her old relationships (and as a result, her life) shows in this line.

Hideo from Metal Gear would have a Ryu Number of 3. Hideo appears alongside Naked Snake/Big Boss in Peace Walker. Boss appears with Solid Snake in Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake (his appearance in MG1 would be complicated). Solid Snake appears in Smash Ultimate.

Alternately, if we take the ramblings throughout the series that Kojima is God and assume Hideo is in fact Hideo Kojima and therefore God, we can potentially shorten it to 2 through the Voice of God appearing in MGS4 and just go directly through Otacon thanks to the codec calls.

There is arguably another possible, also spurious route of 2 you can get through the Solid Snake "uniform" in Metal Gear Solid V.

The wording of "A costume for roleplaying as Solid Snake" is dubious enough to raise a few questions, like what exactly is meant by "roleplaying", who is doing the roleplaying, how much to look into the fact that it's referred to as a costume when it's at least evocative of a model swap with the PS1 Solid Snake character model, so, you know,

I started several otome games & one of them is Butterfly's Poison; Blood Chains (Chou no Doku). I heard it was really good, but really sad too. I enjoy it so far, but damn I’m crying…😭

I’m angry they censored the switch version, I really wanted to play the original R18 version! It’s unfair!😫 But I'm glad I found & saw some of the original scenes.😏 The censored version removed a lot from the story & the characters’ personalities. It's really disappointing and annoying. And they also completely changed some scenes!!😣

I started with Mizuhito. It was pure drama & tragedy!😭 I was so sad & anxious for him & Yuriko the whole story. Poor boy, he really needs help.😞 I'm glad he's better, at least at the end of his route. The bad endings were really sad & even the good ending was bittersweet.🥺 I just want them to finally be happy.😥

Then I played Shiba's route. I really didn't like him at first. He’s a brute & he’s disrespectful.😠 He thinks he can buy anything with money, even Yuriko! He even forced himself on her!!!😩 He really disgusted me, but in the end we know more about his story & his personality. Despite his flaws, his story becomes cute & sweet.

After, I finished Hideo’s route. I love him! His story is the most natural & best choice for Yuriko so far. I love them together so much!🥰 But his bad endings are so sad. When they found THE picture in his pocket after finding him.🥺 I completely broke…😭😭😭😭😭

Then, I did Fujita’s route. I enjoyed it more than I thought. I was sad for him throughout his story.🥺 His good ending is sweet🥰, but I would have liked him to finally call Yuriko by her name. And I really hate his bad endings, both the original versions & the new ones!😨😣

I just finished Majima & Kyoko’s stories. Other than a few interesting story elements, I didn't really like their routes. I understand Majima's motives, but I disagree with his actions. Even his good ending is bad (and has the bad ending theme song). Knowing what he did in all the stories, I can't like him.🙁 As for Kyoko, she's a strong woman, she knows what she wants and it's great! But I'm just not a fan of her story.😐
