Have you ever been a second-level fan, like a fan of a fandom rather than the source material, fall away from the entire thing for a bit, and when it trends again you’re just what the fuck happened in the source material??!! I’m looking at a complete clusterfuck of a plot from miles away like the aftermath of a disaster looking like
Tumblr media
The season/series finale/big event/whatever happened and, sure, I don’t know enough details to get properly mad, but at this point I’m not even sure if I want the cliffnotes version to know how disappointed I should be in the orig’s creators

Miraculous Headcannon
The existence of a butterfly miraculous user who calls himself Hawkmoth means there’s a moth miraculous user constantly trying to correct this misnomer. They aren’t doing very well so far.

weird but maybe simple question: why does lila exist if chloe was going to go from a possible redemption arc back into a bully? if you've already got one bully character, why add another one? should i just blame TA like i do for most things?
Yeah basically.
Seriously if you are giving Chloé a redemption arc, then Lila easily fills the hole left by her in that we need a smaller-scale antagonist for the Civilian B-Plots of the episodes.
What I mean by this is episodes like Season 1's Darkblade. Where the A-Plot is the thing with Hawkmoth and the Akuma of the Day, but the B-Plot is about the class election. Both plots tie into one another and have their respective antagonists at believable scales, Hawmoth being the Big Bad and Chloé being a problem that Mari can't superhero away but she has to deal with the way any normal girl would.
With Chloé getting better, you wouldn't have as many episodes with her as a direct antagonist. She can still cause conflict, such as it is with Season 3 episodes like Miraculer where she did something to spark a problem, but she's much like any of the other classmates who screws up and feels bad about it and works to fix it by the end(though she's still learning so it's a touch shakier than if Mari did it). But she's not a direct antagonist who is causing problems for Marinette on purpose.
This is where Lila comes in. She replaces Chloé's role as Civilian Antagonist. Someone in Marinette's normal life that she can't just fix by becoming Ladybug(for the most part), she has to work around whatever they're doing.
And similarly to how the A-Plot upped the stakes by making them have to deal with not just Akumas but also Sentimonsters, Lila similarly ups the stakes in the B-Plot by being an upgrade to Chloé's meanness. Lila is a bully, but she's also a manipulator. She's not someone who just insults Mari and abuses power but can be rallied against by an inspiring speech. The class thinks that Lila is a good person and she's here to play people against each other by manipulating them.
However.
When TA decided to scrap Chloé's redemption arc and shove Zoé into her role on the Team, there was no longer a place for her. Lila had already become the main antagonist for the B-Plots, and if they make Chloé an effective antagonist then that takes away from Lila's importance and building her up as a more dangerous bully and the next big bad. So they nerf Chloé into being mean but incompetent to keep Lila as 'better'.
So yeah they don't really know what to do with Chloé because she's been replaced as both Hero and Villain, so all they /can/ do is make her mean but such a pathetic threat.

I'm currently trying to figure out how Future! Marinette would react to Fu, I want her to act like an old family member being reunited with their grandpa but at the same time...I want her to be hurt.
Spiteful and Angry at him, he forced her to be Ladybug, He forced her to give up her childhood, He forced her to be Guardian. She suffered losing her childhood and any other great lifetime opportunities she had. She lost the chance to ever have a love life, she's been traumatized from the age of 14 and is still suffering from PTSD.
Master Fu had the Miracle Box full of powerful Miraculouses, he could have been smart and unified certain Miraculouses to find Hawmoth. He could have trusted Adults...but he didn't.
Instead, he chose to force Marinette into being Ladybug when all she wanted was a normal life. She wanted to have a crush, she wanted to be a teen. She wanted to have a normal life like all her other friends, but she can't and she never will.
I don't know I can't decide

Game of the Heart: Chapter 1 - Heart of the Problem
MariBat: Vote Your Own Fic - A CYOA writing game.
“Thank you so much! Have a good night!” Marinette said enthusiastically as she left the Joann Fabric location. She was glad to have discovered such an expansive store during her trip. None of her regular chain stores from France were here, and she knew she would have been lost without them if it wasn't for the United States having its own well known, nation-wide location. What would she have done without her stock of fabrics, paints, and handicrafts? Been bored to death, most likely.
Something had been putting her in a good mood the last few days, and she had to express it somehow. She thought that leaving the Hawk Moth-ridden Paris for ‘Crime Capital’ Gotham would have done nothing to her except make her feel worse, if anything. But better? Like the smog-covered sky wasn’t there and the lowering sun was a blessing instead of a warning of the coming night? She really didn’t know what was going on, but she was glad she decided to come on the trip.
The trip itself was an interesting one. After so many years of Hawkmoth with little progress on the Superheros’ side, the City Council had decided, after consulting with Ladybug and Chat Noir, to start a city-wide project to rally and petition for outside help. Petitions were open to all ages to sign, and votes could be submitted by anyone of 16, with parental permission, and over. After months of this, and countless more attacks, it was decided to send an envoy to America to request help from the most well known Superhero organization in the world.
The Justice League.
Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman were the top picks, but when were they not? Ladybug and Chat Noir were highly against the two Supers. Akumatized heroes were never easy to fight, and though all three JL founders were known for their scary levels of anger when provoked, those first two were simply the greater risks. And Batman? Well, no one really knew if he actually had powers or not, so he remained on the table.
They would have gone to the European branch of the JL, which was stationed in Paris itself, had it not been evacuated when the full scope of Hawmoth’s powers were revealed to be too risky. No members remained, only a few low-level secretaries constantly crunching numbers and reporting to the Head Office. They knew of the petitions and decision making, so at least the JL would be prepared for when it was time to expect a visit from Paris.
And that visit had come.
Marinette was 17 with a year left of Lycée, not quite a full-fledged adult, so why was she allowed on this envoy mission for Paris? Well, it was rather easy, really. First, she already had a reputation alongside her class for several things: countless recorded volunteer efforts for the City of Paris; well-acquainted with the Akuma problem, often caught in proximity or a target themselves; casual connection to the Paris Heroes, thus trusted with being their representatives. And most of all, she was one of very few in Paris to have never been Akumatized. (But two million people live in Paris, you say, how can that be true? Well, let’s just say that a certain Scarlet version of Hawkmoth had become very persistent, creating hundreds of thousands of red butterflies with every appearance. It ads up fairly quickly.) That feat itself may have actually been a disadvantage since she couldn't explain what Akumatization felt like. But she remembered them all with excellent accuracy, more than anyone else- almost as though she had been there each time. And she was, though the City and the JL didn’t need to know that.
All in all, she was an asset, and her presence was permitted.
It has been a few days now since they arrived in Gotham, New Jersey. Metropolis was only a few hours away, some members of the envoy looking north with ungranted wishes to go request Superman’s help instead. But the two confirmed superpowered leaders of the JL were off planet, only available to converse over interstellar communications. Batman had yet to approve of a consultation yet, either. The trip was bound to last quite a while. At the very least, they were glad that Wayne Enterprises was an official representative itself of the Justice League, having its own department to handle the tasks. Meetings with the Paris envoy were being held for hours on end in the daily now, little progress being made considering just how much information was needed to go over, years of compiled events and data.
Marinette was tired of attending all day, with little to do but listen and confirm when information was inaccurate or needed clarification. She didn’t like the stares she got, either, the whispers of how too many young people are putting their noses into adult business. She understood they still had their own internal bias related to some of their board members and major stock holders, but did they really have to project that onto her? She was doing great, all things considered! She bet their company’s heirs were doing great, too, and they were just being salty for prideful reasons.
She was glad Hawkmoth wasn't in this city with them. The place would be a minefield for the innocent and a flowerfield for the magical emotion terrorist. Marinette sighed. She looked up at the color-tinted sky, wondering what tomorrow would bring? Progress, hopefully.
Shaking her head, Marinette decided to think about something else, returning herself to the unnatural but welcomed good mood.
What could have caused it, she wondered. It wasn't something material, or anything related to the Paris Problem. Hawkmoth had even been active daily so far, and she was making tiring trips back and forth with Kaalki for every attack. Couldn't have been shool, either: she was still expected to finish all her assignments and tests from across an entire ocean. It had to be something different, something new that she could only sense and react to with her emotions.
Maybe… Could it be? There’s no way, why would they be here, of all places? Marinette shook her head more vigorously again, trying to clear away the idea, not caring for the way her hair whipped and stung her face. It couldn't be my Soulmate, no way. It’s been years, and I've practically confirmed they weren’t anyone in Paris. That leaves the whole rest of the world, and there's no way I've traveled around enough to come across them already. But… Her steps slow, and she barely pays attention as her surroundings pass her by. I’ve never felt this way. It had to be something, so why not my…?
She slapped her hands on her cheeks, the bags on her arms hitting her sides. “No, stop thinking about it. You have a job to do, me!” She chastised. “Head back in the game, now,” she commanded herself, face scrunched in determination. Besides, I don't think it works that way, anyway, she sighed to herself. Not that anyone else has figured it out, either. Soulmates, another mystery of the Universe…

one of my passions is intaglio printmaking. which is essentially a process of scratching away at a copper plate to make lines that are then etched in with acid. you card ink onto the plate and it settles into the lines you created with the acid and then you can print it. it’s a very complicated process and that is a very short version of it. but I’ve been working a series of mock pinned insects that I’m drawing and creating through intaglio prints, cutting out, and then attaching onto another piece of paper raised up to mimic the look of pinned insects. I also use an old school newspaper letter press machine to hand set the common name and scientific name of the bugs. wanted to show it off so these are the first two I made. a deaths head hawmoth and a stag beetle. I’m working on a cicada rn. let me know if you wanna know more I love talking ab it. 🖤

friends, it is my joy to give you two fic recs today. if you like odnlb i think you'll like these as well.
1.) all that's left by sammyjames.
this is one of the 1st fics i read when i joined the mlb fandom and has been one of the biggest sources of my fic writing inspiration.
summary: ladybug and chat noir defeated hawkmoth seven years ago, only for ladybug's accumulation of secrets to lead to the partners having a falling out. now a new, stronger, and deadlier hawkmoth is terrorizing paris and ladybug has to work with a partner who is doing his best to hate her.
the fic has been on hiatus since last november but that has changed TODAY and boy oh boy am i all a flutter. 1 more chapter to go. please go read this fic, it's amazing! the writing is outstanding, the characterization is painfully accurate, the battle scenes are incredible, and the romance is nail-bitingly tense and passionate. i love this fic more than words and i'm so glad it's back!
2.) under oath by @eoscenes
i think i've rec'd this fic before but i'm doing it again. it's just so good! this author is a very clever writer and the characters are outstandingly done. there is just so much talent in every sentence; i feel lots of emotions with every update.
summary: in the aftermath of hawmoth's defeat, ladybug has to handle the fallout and investigation into the agreste family's secrets. but when chat noir disappears off the face of the earth in the middle of her ongoing interrogation with adrien agreste, ladybug's level-headed professionalism is pushed to a breaking point.
this one is still ongoing as well so read at your own risk and suffer with me as i have suffered (pos).

Put on a smile, he tells himself.
He should be happy, as Chat Noir. Hawmoth/Shadowmoth/Monarch is gone, taking his reign of terror with him. Even if he hadn't gotten to stand by his partner's side for the final battle like they'd always planned, it had all still worked out, in the end.
(Were they even really still partners, anymore? Well, they were partners, but were they still... important to each other? They weren't on their own anymore, they both had significant others, Ladybug had made no mention of revealing themselves to each other like they'd always planned to; it wasn't you and me against the world anymore. So what were they?)
(She'd never even told him who Hawkmoth turned out to be. Not that it mattered, anymore; he probably wouldn't have known him anyway.)
He should be... well, maybe not happy, but content, as Adrien. He'd hated his father in those last moments, with a fiery passion, so shouldn't he be glad that he's gone? That he can finally live his own life?
And his dad... his father... Gabriel Agreste was a hero. Which... shouldn't that be good? Even if he wasn't a hero to him, at least he'd died in a way that benefited others, so Adrien should be proud, right?
He's supposed to be smiling. Everyone seems to expect it from him, anyway.
He sees it in the way Felix and Ladybug whisper to each other after patrols, in on some secret that he's not. The way Marinette and Alya glance at him pityingly when they think he's not looking. Like they all know how cruel the situation was for him, but none of them want to say it. Like he's just blissfully unaware, like "oh, yeah, my dad was the worst, but he died a hero so it's all fine now!" and none of them want to burst his bubble.
Everything twists up instead of him, a tangled web of mixed emotions that he can't see what they're attached to, can't see what's causing them. Hopelessly tangled, beyond hope of clearing up.
So instead he just picks up the scissors and cuts them up. Buries them deep.
And he puts on a smile.
