Just rewatched season 1 of Haikyu and honestly idk how anyone can leave season 1 without shipping Asanoya like really

They are integral to each other's development!! And also like, Nishinoya was willing to give up volleyball???? Because he didn't want to play without Asahi??????? And he loves volleyball????????! Come on. plus the dynamics is just peak ship. Gentle giant and small chaos gremlin lmao. (I say small but I'm way shorter than Nishi... Curses.) Speaking of Nishi, isn't that adorable how Asahi calls him that?? Like everyone else calls him Noya but Asahi calls him Nishi.

There's so much focus on them for the first season. It's kind of a shame that they fall more into the background later. I guess though it's because they don't have any issues, which is a good thing.

"Oh my god oh my god, I am gonna cry if they don't score now," you prayed while crossing your fingers.

A faint snort left his lips as he savoured your crestfallen expression. Eyes focused on the game, glimmering with hope.

The way your eyebrows were knitted together and the sheer joy on your face when your team scored. You looked over at him with the biggest smile and he swore his heart was going to fall out of his chest.

His happiness wasn't long-lasting though, soon your gaze was driven to a monitor where some childish music played. He couldn't help but pout.

"It's a kiss cam," you laughed and he looked towards the screen. The first frame landed on an old couple, they kissed and the entire stadium 'awwed'. The second landed on two friends, they looked very uncomfortable, but for the sake of it, one of them kissed on other's cheek, much to the audience's disappointment. He wondered if you would do the same, after all, that's what you were...friends.

The third frame landed on two people who looked oddly like him and you...until it hit him.

He turned around to see you with expecting eyes.

"I-uhm, we don't have to, if you don't-" his eyes widened as your lips hit his, the cheering of the stadium was deaf as he closed his eyes slowly and smiled into the kiss. Leaning in and holding your face in his palms.

The camera shifted to another couple and even though the kiss was broken he still held your face, "I like you a lot!" he confessed suddenly, scared of your reaction, much to his surprise, you gleamed in joy.

"I thought I would never hear those words from you," you sighed.

He smirked and continued watching the game, the grin growing wider as he heard the all-familiar song play in the background.

Both of you clapped every time anyone kissed, what you didn't know was that he had to pray to whatever deity was there to make the cam land on the two of you...and it did.

Your eyes widened as you laughed awkwardly, ear and face turning super hot.

He turned to you and flashed you a dangerous grin that caused butterflies to erupt in your stomach.

A gasp elicited from your mouth as he bit on your lips. To the audience, it might have seemed like a fiery kiss and nothing more, but you could hear the growls that rumbled from his chest.

When he finally pulled away, the game had already begun, his lips were shining with your lip gloss and his chest heaved deeply.

His breath hitched so sharply that you couldn't help but feel a pang in your chest. Was he that revolted by the thought of kissing you?

His hand slowly sneaked into yours, pulling you from the trance, "its up to you if you want to or not," he said ignoring the chants of 'kiss!' 'kiss!' that were shouted.

one of the best ways to personally understand and write Akaashi and Bokuto’s characters would be to look at official material outside of the anime and manga. By that I mean I really do encourage:

1. Watching the stage plays - it helps a lot to understand Bokuto and Akaashi’s mannerisms and gestures. Even if those two are in the background, it’s nice to observe how they act and the difference between their actions as well, more so how they react to things (example would be Bokuto screaming and hollering when Karasuno scores a point against Inarizaki over Akaashi who simply claps)

2. Seiyuu events - these are certain events that are hosted with the voice actors of the characters in Haikyu!! Often, there’s an extra segment where the seiyuus voice their characters in a situation or story in front of a crowd, it adds unto understanding how Bokuto and Akaashi speak. Considering most, if not at least 75%, of the dialogue in Haikyu!! is centered on volleyball, it sort of difficult to write for the HQ characters when you don’t quite know how they would speak in regular conversations about mundane things, Bokuto and Akaashi being no exception. The seiyuu events particularly the segments where they voice are a really good way of getting a vibe of how they would talk and what they talk about even (especially when the dialogue is not part of the anime/manga)

3. Audio drama - similar to two, audio dramas on the other hand are recorded audios of the characters voiced once again by the seiyuus. It helps in understanding how their dialogues works and how they speak. From what I know, there’s only one Fukurodani audio drama but you can get a good grasp of the way Bokuto and Akaashi bounce at each other in terms of conversation. 

4. Haikyu-bu - Although it’s not written by Furudate-sensei, it is still considered official material under the Haikyu!! franchise which makes the dialogue, actions and personality still tied and true to how Bokuto and Akaashi act in general and again, good resource to understand how they act and speak.

this can honestly go for any Haikyu character! I just wanted to ramble a bit and help anyone in case they want to have other source materials to better their characterization/ dialogue for them, even I’m still trying my best to fine tune the way I characterize Bokuto and Akaashi <33

Why fans of HSMTMTS might like Anime: An essay

With the final season less than a month away I decided to introduce something that just might help fill the empty space it leaves behind, anime. Now there’s some who may think that anime is all about screaming and yelling in Japanese, and there are certainly shows that fall into that category, but anime is so wide reaching that there are shows about just about every topic you can imagine. There are action anime, horror anime, romance anime, and everything in between. Also if you think anime is too nerdy I’d remind you that the majority of this fandom practically salivates over a show about high schoolers performing various Disney songs, so be careful about those stones in your glass house.

Now as a Rina I know that a good portion of shippers here love a ship that’s all about subtext and the thing is most anime ONLY have subtext when it comes to ships. One of the most popular anime in the world right now is My Hero Academia, the show has an ensemble cast of interesting and memorable characters, and more ships than the US Navy. Almost every character is shipped with almost every other character, but it’s a superhero anime so romance takes a backseat so, with a few exceptions, almost every romantic relationship comes down to subtext.

Do you like crackships? Anime’s got more than you can handle. There are shows with little to no romance at all and still have rabid shipping fan bases. Some examples are Haikyu a sports anime about high school volleyball, which is about hard work, determination, camaraderie, and friendship, has so much shipping going on it’s insane. There’s also Blue Lock, a soccer anime, where a bunch of high school boys are locked in a high tech building as they all try to become the best soccer player in the world. So many ships.

Do you not like subtext and prefer to be told who’s going to get together? We got those too. My Dress Up Darling, a confident girl who really wants to get into cosplay is assisted by a shy quiet boy who’s really good at sewing and they fall for each other. Spy X Family, a super spy is tasked with creating a fake family to get close to a target, adopts a little girl and marries a woman with secrets of their own. Love After World Domination, the leader of a Power Rangers-like team falls in love with an enemy general and they cover up their dates with monster attacks so no one finds out.

Fair Warning: Anime ship wars can get INTENSE. They can make the Rina-Portwell-Rini discourse seem like a water ballon fight in comparison. So be cautious.

If you really just like music, anime usually have several opening sequences and closing sequences over the course of their show, with music done by really good Japanese bands. If you’re just interested in that you can easily find them on YouTube, but the show themselves usually have really good background music as well (I recommend a song called ‘You Say Run’ from My Hero Academia if you don’t believe me.

Seriously, I can almost guarantee there is a show out there that will peak your interest. That said anime can get REALLY weird just by the nature of there being so much of it (there’s literally an anime coming out about a guy who dies getting crushed by a vending machine only to be reincarnated as vending machine in a fantasy world) so if you find it’s not your cup of tea that’s fine, this isn’t to pressure anyone into watching anime (maybe it is a little bit). I know it hurts losing something that’s dear to you, so I’m just hoping someone maybe can find something to fill the void left behind.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading my ramblings. Obviously the anime I’ve mentioned are pretty good starter anime if your interest has been peaked. Some additional ones, Fairy Tail, Black Clover, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Hopefully some people will mention some other anime in the comments or in their reblogs. Feel free to ask questions I’ll do my best to answer them.

Also if you want something a little more western I highly recommend ‘The Legend of Vox Machina’ on Prime. It’s based on anime but is a wholly western creation.

Haikyu hc: you and him at the beach

( aka: you being sexy af😩😍)

Warning: Slight spoiler for the people who haven't seen the timeskip. Reader has teal eyes

Characters: kenma kozume, suna rintarou, hinata shoyo, akaashi keiji.

Kozume Kenma( timeskip)

His hand slightly carressed your thigh, you quickly interwined your fingers and locked your gaze on his side profile. Kenma had been pretty busy with his company recently and he decided to spend a day at the beach with you. He was currently muting his phone, the screen laid shut on the cover, his gaze turned to lock in yours. You noticed he has been eyeing the little opening of your buttoned shirt, your hand left his for a few seconds, those spent removing the shirt blocking his view of you in a swimsuit. He slightly turned his head to the side, embarrassed, but he couldn't stop himself to give your body a peek. He took off his shirt forcing himself to invite you in the water. You followed him and you both spend a relaxing moment, it wasn't full of water fight, just relaxing on the shore until sunset.

Suna rintarou ( current time )

The twins planned to drag suna at the beach and into the water, but his plan was soon a failure when they saw him with you. Walking next to him in beach sandals opening a drink and handing it to him. He gladly took before sitting under the beach parasol and waiting to lay on your lap. Aran giggled at Atsumu down moral and tried to cheer him up, some of the first years were splashing waters at eachothers while kita was keeping an eye on them. Suna plunged his head or more like used your thigh as pillow, taking a nap immediately. He also snuggled into your stomach as you grabbed a book and waved at his teammates. Mostly kita who was the most respectful out of all of them, he waved back at you while sitting on the shore.

Your hand instinctively made its way to suna hair, tangling your fingers in his free from gel brown locks. Time passed by and it has already been a good thirty minutes you finished your books. Your eyes were just locked on Suna and his sleeping figure, he eyes fluttered opened and his lips curved up as the sight of your endless teal eyes.
