AGH i hate that thing where usually when your brain passively yet explicitly Predicts A Thing and then it happens with or without your at-the-time acknowledging the prediction

and then after this happens a dozen times you start recognizing it as a pattern and so every time you notice that Feeling happens in your brain where you know it's Predicting A Thing you start panicking about The Thing and how to prevent it but a) you know about the forer effect and b) even if that wasn't a thing you assume that the fact that you know about The Thing That Will Happen surely will affect the happen-ness of The Thing That Will Happen and so you try to avoid it but you also realize that by trying to avoid it you might encounter the Curse Of Self-Fulfilling Prophecy which means that The Thing will happen because you tried to prevent it which just makes you panic about whether or not you should try to prevent it or not and-

i fully acknowledge that this is an OCD thing but that doesn't make it less distressing

hi!!!! there been news articles saying that the working conditions of spiderverse were rlly rlly bad to the point of 100 ppl quitting or someting…. sorry to be liek an annoying reporter and b kinda invasive but is this tru D:

there are some aspects about the article that i don't feel comfortable commenting on, but yes a lot of animators did quit. a lot of it had to do with the issues mentioned in the article, but a lot also left because disney opened a studio in vancouver (where sony imageworks is located) and had to hire an entire crew. i don't blame people for leaving spiderverse to get in on being a part of establishing the disney vancouver studio

i will also say that some of the information going around is incorrect; we did not work 11 hours a day, 7 days a week for over a year. working 7 days a week is illegal, and though some people worked sundays, they were clearly told that they could not work the next saturday if they worked a sunday. we encouraged people to not work ghost hours, and OT was always optional (except for saturday work towards the end, but nobody was punished or anything if they couldn't work a saturday). we also get paid for OT. i was on the movie for over a year but we certainly weren't crunching that whole time. like the article said, we were idle for a long time

it was undeniably a hard movie to work on and with such a large crew, everyone had a wide variety of experiences. the anonymous animators in the article aren't wrong, but i will say that there are people that felt differently, or not as strongly as them. it's a complicated issue that doesn't have a simple solution

i just hope this doesn't tarnish your view of the movie. we worked hard on it and everyone's immense celebration of the animation is making all that hard work very worth it!

Got this cute lil baby Na'vi plush for Christmas! But noticed that she didn't have a queue...I suppose the Disney marketing people figured the average customer would find it too "creepy", which is unfortunate because anyone who knows anything about the lore knows that the queue is kind of an important part of Na'vi biology and culture; it's how they connect to Eywa which is a Big Deal™....but whatever i guess.

Luckily I know how to use a needle so I fixed it!! And while I was at it gave her a little makeover. Just a few adjusted details made a big difference I think!!

i'll angel in the snow until i'm worthy (snow angel)

#infinity train #grace monroe #she is. such a moment #my art #guesstimating this took like 6-8 hrs #okay actually according to my screentime this took just over 5 hrs? but i literally. basically did nothing except this all day #talk too much was on loop the entire day today it has at least a 90% chance of appearing on my top 5 this wrapped #then again i had a huge loop song last month too so maybe it'll still need to battle it out w the other 9 songs for this yr #it snowed recently and i did not make a snow angel but i did hit some of my friends with snowballs. and get hit. infinite train reference.. #i'm not totally sure how this specific shape of snow angel is physically possible but please ignore physics in favor of aesthetics #eventually i will be able to color things in a way that completely (as completely as possible) matches my Head Vision #this one was pretty good as far as vision matching goes though so yay for improvement and progress and growth
