I know there are ardent Mace Windu defenders on here so can you guys explain why Mace Windu Did That with the Boba Fett situation. That is a genuine question and my biggest hang-up, I’m desperate to understand his thought process. Like, it would be considered a radically conservative move HERE in OUR WORLD to decide that a deeply traumatized 13 year old raised by a criminal who was then guided by a gang of adult criminals into committing acts of terrorism should be thrown into a HIGH SECURITY ADULT PRISON for YEARS as a punishment. How does Mace the monk in the religious order of justice not step in even nominally and go “hey this doesn’t seem wise or just. In fact this is deeply immoral. Why don’t you put this kid in a high security rehabilitation clinic. Why don’t you get him some therapy.” In fact if I remember correctly (?) Windu actively endorsed this course of action. In-universe explanation?

(Not an invitation to argue that trying kids as adults is morally right if what they’ve done is Bad Enough so they can be punished like adults. Because a) you’re wrong and b) shut up. Go read about prison reform. That’s not what I’m asking.)

Whenever I feel my age in hockey fandom, I remind myself firmly: no matter what, Marc-Édouard Vlasic will always be older than you. Pictures - 1) Kitty Cat Max on patrol; 2) Magnus Chrona (6'5) standing next to a U6 goalie at the anthem; 3) full moon at night.

#having a vaguely discomfiting week #uhhh i don't know. too much and not enough to do. mostly not enough #i've been applying to some deeply hilarious silicon valley jobs #one i was editing my cover letter for and thought man. i could do this with the irc for way less money with way more stress #(international rescue committee i mean)#and then i went for it anyway. i would be good at it! i've just seen the exact same job description for charities working with refugees #the bay area is so interesting. i'm always like i love it! it's home! but how much of that is only having left it for college #but then i think about starting a new life somewhere else alone and i'm like god that sounds exhausting #lost control of my schedule again btw. forgot i had about 800 things on the calendar #i actually forgot i had therapy for four weeks straight in the last two months it's been such a mess #which i think is what happens when i have no external schedule #again i do not dream of capitalism. but i do dream of someone else giving me tasks with a set number of hours attached #if an anarachist commune told me my job was to snap the ends of string beans off for four hours i'd be like hell yeah. 4 hour task #why snapping the ends off of string beans SUCH a social activity btw #that was like THE kitchen task my mother would trust me and my sister to do on major holidays and so i have such weird fond memories of #sitting at the table snapping the ends off of string beans and talking with my sister while our family buzzed around us #i mean a lot of my core child and teenage memories are my sister and i hanging out while our parents marriage fell apart around lmfao #where was i going with this. oh right. need a job mostly bc i am going stir crazy but also bc i started private ice skating lesson which are #expensive. definitely going to help!! but expensive #but idk i am haunted and beset by living with my parents in my 30s so more reasons (practice) to get out of rhe houae #*out of the house while mostly unemployed...the better #the story of this post can be boiled down to a couple of things i think: 1. no hoes. 2. no job. 3. if i keep making these posts i have to #take more pictures of things #(<- very live in the moment kind of guy who forgets things later bc they didn't take pictures)#fresno oilers.txt

Super niche, but I just saw someone comment on something saying that they can't comprehend the fact that figure skating qualifies as a sport and as a figure it kind of just ticked me off? Of course the skaters seen on TV are really good at it and they make it look easy but the amount of work that goes into training that isn't seen in competition isn't as pretty as what's shown on the screen. There's a lot of off ice training for cardio and strength in the form of fitness classes and there's also the on ice cardio training which is running program parts in addition to the full run through. AND THEN, so it looks good, there's ballet, and on ice movement, and theatre on ice etc. etc. etc. which makes you THINK it's more of an artform but I've gotten so many bruises from falling that I don't think I can call it art, more like pain. Honestly figure skating is a dangerous sport, there's so many risks that can lead to injuries, I've a couple of friends who have gotten concussed from bad falls and I call myself very fortunate for not having gotten any bad injuries that cause me to take time off (knock on wood) but all of the gross stuff that happens out of the shiny costumes is what gives figure skating the right to call itself a sport.

#Obviously I mean no offence to the person who commented saying that #It's just that this has been sitting on my chest for a while and I needed to get it off #And I don't expect people to know what goes on at the rinks during training when we're not competing #Because it's not like it gets shown in competitions on livestreams and whatnot #But I really believe that figure skating deserves to be a sport #My friends and I actually had a discussion about how we believe it's one of the hardest #because most other sports are scored based off of time or getting an object into a certain target #whereas in figure skating (and gymnastics and probably synchro swimming(?))#it's scored based off of how easy you make it look #the difficulty of the skills which you are doing #how well you execute what you are doing etc.#I don't think you can get points taken off in hockey or in soccer for falling #Do with it what you will #but I'm going to stand by my opinion #also #there is no romance with zamboni guys #most of them are old enough to be our parents or even grandparents #heck one of the arena guys at my rink retired #but then he came out of retirement to return to being an arena guy because he was bored at home or something #figure skating #And #figure skating and ice dancing are the same thing

I love how Shoma is thought of as the baby of men's figure skating, just a little guy, ridiculously good at skating but still, he's just a little baby, so sweet and innocent, just the little brother looking up at the stars and then his list of medals looks like this

I was tagged to do this au/fic generator thing and took so long thinking about it that I never actually posted it BUT the idea I came up with is so cute I can’t not share it:

rules (more or less): use this au generator to assign you an au, and this fanfic trope generator to give you a trope/situation/sometimes another au, feel free to keep clicking until you get something that inspires you.

then try to come up with the title, plot, vibe, and details of a fic including whatever the generators gave you. you don’t actually have to write it, just put the concept into the world! this is basically just a thought experiment.

fic trope generator gave me: One character scrapes their knee and the other helps them tend to it. Tension ensues. 😏

title: jamming the gap

let’s plot:

Think Bring It On, Whip It, and sexy summertime romcom movie all wrapped into one

Ian’s the captain of the local queer derby league, The High Rollers

Mickey moves back to town with his sister after the death of their father

Mickey and Mandy used to be super into roller blading, Mandy hears about how popular roller derby is in town and decides to try out for the local team

Mickey thinks it’s lame as hell until he goes to a practice and sees how brutal and rough and FUN it is

Ian’s team is practicing on the other side and Mickey definitely doesn’t mind the view as he watches him skate around ramming into people

He feels a certain weirdness about trying out, maybe it makes him feel vulnerable? Something about putting himself out there?

Ian sees him skating at the park and it’s an incredibly adorable sorta meet cute where they’re both skating and trying to show off

Ian dares him to try out

Mickey rolls his eyes but he’s not one to back down from a dare

Etc etc etc somehow Ian ends up helping to patch Mickey up and blows on his knee like Adam does to Eve in Blast From the Past, you know the scene

Cue sexual tension on roller skates
