Prompt 146
So. Dan is a combination of both Danny and Vlad. Which he has never had an issue with before, but this is just frustrating. It’s not like he can’t deal with the fact the combination of the obsessions forms a protect family one, and he can deal with it. It’s not like he has one anymore.
Which is where the gobsmacked annoyance came from- he was planning on destroying his sort-of past-self, showing this was inevitable. But his obsession, apparently like his old man, decided instead to latch onto the kid, definitely not helped by the fact the brat is like two years dead. If that, he can’t recall, all his ghostliness knows is that the brat is a fucking baby.
He was going to destroy him, he swore! That had been the plan! So how the fuck did he get to helping the brat and the brat’s Jazz packing bags to run away? How the fuck is he responsible parent material, because he is damn sure he definitely isn’t.
Damnit. He’s taking this half-grown clone daughter too. Fuck Vlad, he can rot in that thermos and the Fentons can stay trying to figure out why the portal is no longer working. Being the responsible one sucks though, he’d rather go back to destroying the world but killing the league a second time also sounds like too much work right now. Damnit again.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s Spite Playlist: Remix CH27
What are Marinette and Chloe going to do now that they’re in cahoots? Find out below~
Previous      First       Next       AO3
----------------------------------------------
Chapter 27: Better Than Revenge
“I’m surprised to see you here, Dupain-Cheng,” Chloe said as Jean Luke poured their tea.
Marinette averted her gaze the way Adrien always did when he came over. People with morals really were annoying.
“Lila’s gone too far. I can’t turn a blind eye and watch my friends get walked over,” she said. “This afternoon, she-”
“Look, I’ve already agreed to help you. I don’t need the whole sob story.” Chloe held up a hand.
“Where were you today anyway? I didn’t see you at the Louvre,” Marinette asked.
“I needed a spa day, so I conned Adrien into taking notes for me.” Chloe examined her perfectly manicured nails. “I see you’ve changed your mind about the status of those brats in your life.”
Marinette sighed. “They’re my friends, or at least, they were at one point. I hate seeing Lila blatantly manipulate them for her own selfish gain.”
“Yes, yes, I’ve got that much, how noble, now what are you thinking? I say we invite her onto a ‘game show’ only in reality it’s a trap we’ve set up where we’ll get a bunch of celebrities to diss her on live television.” Chloe took a sip with a wicked grin.
“Look, I’m agreeing to help you, but we need to set up some ground rules first,” Marinette said.
Chloe sat back with a groan, crossing her arms over her chest. “Fine, what?”
“I want everyone to find out that she’s a liar, yes, but I don’t want to be needlessly cruel.” Chloe rolled her eyes, but Marinette continued, “We need to be smart about this, or else she’ll just play the victim.”
Chloe thought back to their previous failed attempts and pursed her lips. “Fine. Anything else?”
“Yes. Secondly, and most importantly, Adrien cannot find out that I’m helping you,” she said. The corners of Chloe’s lips twitched into a smirk. “I’m serious, Chloe. Don’t tell him.”
Chloe eyed her for a long moment, debating whether or not to say anything when another knock pounded on her door, and Jean Claude moved to answer it. She squared her shoulders, lifting her teacup to her lips with a sly grin.
“I won’t tell him.” She vowed as Jean Mark unlatched the lock. “You can tell him yourself.”
“Okay, Lila has gone too far this time. I’m ready to do things-” Adrien stormed into the room, stopping short when he laid eyes on Marinette, “-your way… Marinette?”
“Adrien?”
“What are you doing here?” They said in unison.
Adrien’s eyebrows furrowed, and he flicked his gaze between Marinette and Chloe.
“I was just-”
“Oh, save it you two!” Chloe interjected with a groan. “Adrien texted me earlier; Dupain-Cheng just showed up at my door, and now you’re both here for the same reason.”
“I know we promised to stay out of it, but Lila has gone too far.” Adrien flashed Marinette pathetic puppy eyes. “I’m sorry for going behind your back.”
“No, you’re right. Lila has to be stopped. That’s why I went behind your back too,” Marinette said. “Forgive me?”
“Of course!”
“Ugh, if you two start kissing, I’m gonna throw up,” Chloe moaned. “So, what’s the plan? I can get a crate addressed to the middle of the Amazon here in the next 20 minutes.”
“Ship her to Egypt for all I care!” Adrien threw his arms out in exasperation.
Chloe reached for her phone with an excited grin that deflated upon seeing Marinette’s contemplative frown.
“Don’t even try to convince us. It’s two against one unless you’ve got a better idea.”
“As fun as it would be, I’m pretty sure that’s highly illegal,” Marinette said pointedly.
“Buzzkill.” Chloe slumped, letting her phone fall back to her lap.
“We need to figure out a way to help everyone realize the truth and prevent her from ever lying again.” Marinette tapped her chin.
“Perfect. Do you want to call Jagged Stone, or should I?” Chloe picked up her phone again.
“You saw how well your interview with Ladybug went. Everyone knows I have an in with Jagged, so exposing her will only make us look like the bad guys for ganging up on her.” Marinette shook her head.
“Don’t you think she more than deserves it? After everything she’s done to you, Marinette, and especially after today with what happened.” Adrien winced. “Look, normally I’m with you, but Lila is evil. She can’t be saved.”
“No, but our friends can.” Marinette turned to face him. “Regardless of how obvious her lies are and how many times we’ve tried to tell them the truth, they’re being manipulated, and it’s going to break their hearts when they find out.”
Adrien held her gaze, pursing his lips, but after a moment, he nodded.
“Okay, you’re right.” He gestured for her to take the lead.
“What? You’re switching sides on me? Traitor!” Chloe shot forward with a gasp, though she shouldn’t have been surprised.
“Chloe, I’m not suggesting doing nothing, just doing something smarter,” Marinette said.
“Like?” Chloe cocked a brow, and Marinette took a thoughtful sip of tea. She really hated how methodical Marinette could be.
“Well, I sort of have half an idea.” Marinette set the cup down. “You and Adrien have a lot of power and money as do a lot of my new friends, and today at lunch when they were talking about Christmas with royalty and charity trips I had a thought: What if we recreate all of Lila’s lies ourselves as truths for the whole world to see?”
“That way when news trickles down to the school they’ll realize that Lila never did any of those things.” Adrien finished, and Marinette nodded. “That’s genius! We’ll have all the proof, and Lila will be forced to admit that she lied without us ever having to confront her.”
“And we get to help people along the way and bring some good from this messy situation.” Marinette added.
“I always knew you were brilliant, mon ange.” Adrien lifted her hand to his lips, gaze soft and disgustingly affectionate. Chloe wanted to barf.
“I still prefer making her disappear, but I guess your idea could work too.” Chloe relented with a huff. Anything to get them out of her suite. She still couldn’t believe Adrien actually fell for her of all people. “It’s the most Marinette way you could have suggested. Always trying to make the world a better place, so annoying.”
“I’ll talk to my friends tomorrow at school and come up with a plan of action. It’s a lot of work, but I think this way Lila will have nowhere left to run. She’ll have to own up,” Marinette said.
“I’m behind you all the way.” Adrien gave her hand a squeeze.
Chloe stood up, clapping her hands. If she had to sit through any more of their cooing, she was going to break out in hives.
“Wonderful, now if you two don’t mind I’m late for a date with a hot stone massage.” She waved her arms in a ‘shoo’ motion, so Marinette and Adrien took their leave. “Jean Clarke, tell the cage guy to be ready on standby. Just in case.”
“Yes, mademoiselle.”
♪♫♪ Call It What You Want ♪♫♪
The slam of Chloe’s suite door echoed in the hall with a bang, and Marinette rubbed her temple with a sigh. Was one normal day so much to ask for? Marinette thought she was getting out of this mess when she changed schools, but somehow she kept getting dragged in deeper.
Adrien slipped his fingers into hers and tugged her toward the stairs. “I think you and I have a lot to talk about.”
He remained quiet for the first flight, lips screwed into a pensive frown. Should she speak first? What would she even say? They’d both gone behind each other’s backs to see Chloe, but they’d done it to protect each other. All she wanted was one perfect day with him, but it seemed that the closer they got to each other, the more complicated everything around them became. His silence ate at her as they rounded the second flight, but halfway down he finally spoke.
“I know you didn’t want to get involved with Lila, which is why I came here today. Even if Lila hadn’t pulled that stunt at the end, I’d already texted Chloe to start again.” He lowered his gaze to his feet. “You must be disappointed in me.”
“Adrien,” Marinette said, tightening her grip on his hand. “I came here without you too, ya know. Lila isn’t giving us the option to stay out of it anymore. She’s not going to stop unless we do something.”
“I know.” Adrien stopped and pulled her into his arms. “I just can’t stand to see you so broken and upset. Just when I started to think that things were going to be okay, she goes on the offensive again. Sometimes I feel like we’re never going to win.”
“We will. One day Lila won’t be able to touch us.” Marinette assured him.
He pulled back with a tortured frown. “That wasn’t how I wanted things to happen earlier. I didn’t want our first kiss to be so heavy. I was hoping that tonight… I planned something for us, but now I feel like everything is ruined.”
“You planned something?” Marinette quirked a brow, heart fluttering.
Adrien rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah, I was hoping we could have dinner at my place and finally celebrate your designs for Clara. We could still go—if you want. Everything is set up.”
Marinette’s cheeks warmed, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. Her prince was always looking out for her. She leaned in to kiss his cheek.
“I’d love to.”

“I’m sorry. This is all my fault.”
Nino flicked his gaze over to Alya as she set a tray of juice on the desk. She crossed the room to sit beside him on the bed, and Nino buried his face in his knees.
“What did I do wrong? I was right there, she could have come to me,” he said.
“I never painted Ladybug as the type of person to take her anger out on other people, but I guess it’s true when they say no one’s perfect.” Alya remarked bitterly. “But if she wants to be that way then, who cares? We don’t need superpowers.”
“But having superpowers was awesome! Fighting crime with Ladybug and Chat Noir was totally legit!” Nino lifted his head with a frown.
“Well, what kind of hero is Ladybug if she turns her back on real heroes? If she puts hurt feelings over the safety of the city? We never gave her a reason not to trust us,” Alya said.
“You used to look up to her, Alya.” Nino sat back and looked her up and down. “Now you’ve deleted your blog, and you sound like you hate her.”
“Can you blame me? After how she treated Lila and now she’s taking it out on us?” Alya shook her head. “She’s not the person I thought she was.”
“Al…” Nino lowered his gaze. “I know you’re hurt, but I’m worried about you. You’re always stressed and exhausted and angry nowadays ever since…since you and Lila started hanging out more.”
“At least Lila hasn’t turned her back on me!” Alya snapped. She knew exactly what he omitted.
Ever since Marinette left.
Nino sighed, placing his hand over hers. “It’s been a long day. Let’s not fight, okay?”
“Sorry, I’m just all riled up from this afternoon.” Alya crossed her arms over her chest and leaned against his shoulder. “Lila says her ankle still hurts.”
“Do you really think Marinette pushed her?” Nino asked. “I mean, I know Marinette has been kind of a loose cannon lately, and their beef runs deep, but I’ve known Marinette a long time. She’s not the type to hurt someone.”
“She hurt me,” Alya mumbled.
“Don’t you think this feud has gone on long enough? There has to be some middle ground somewhere. I mean, I lost my best bud too,” Nino said. “I miss the way things were before all of this. Don’t you?”
“Nino…” Alya lowered her gaze, then nuzzled in closer. “I don’t want to talk about it anymore.”
Nino sighed, and Alya sat up, cupping his cheek. His eyes swirled with unease that only added to Alya’s reservoir of guilt, but he didn’t argue further. He wrapped his arms around her back and pulled her in.
“Then let’s not talk.”

She-Ra S5 E06 - Taking Control
Yes, I am still determined to finally finish these reviews because I have thoughts on all of these episodes and still want to write them down (even though it’s been ages), so here we go. Spoilers for the rest of the season in case you haven’t watched it yet.
So let’s get into it:
- I love that they just took Wrong Hordak with them and that they’re actually calling him “Wrong Hordak”.
- Adora obsessively checking on Catra all the time is so sweet ❤️ (but also sad because she just came so close to losing her for good).
- “I honestly can NOT believe it worked.” Yeah, I’m with Bow on that. But like I explained in my Save the Cat review, I actually love that their super risky plan ends up working, as it already shows that Horde Prime is not as invincible as it seems.
- “Well, friends and one person who threw me off a cliff once.” I’m so here for all the “former enemies who now casually reference all the times they hurt each other in the past” banter, you have no idea!
- “I am honored to provide nourishment for my exalted brothers.” I love Wrong Hordak. Pretty much every one of his lines is a winner.
- Change in the opening: Only a tiny one (for now), but Wrong Hordak has been added to the heroes’ shot in the end and his expression is hilarious.
- Catra’s flashbacks to Horde Prime submerging her in that pool are so painful. (I saw a theory on here somewhere that this is why Catra’s fear of water seems even worse in season 5 compared to before. It makes sense when you consider Horde Prime tortured her in that pool. Side-note: This also makes me want to have a word with all those people who complain that Catra’s redemption was “too easy”. She literally went through extreme torture and mind-control to protect other people, but go off about how that’s “easy” or not a vaild reason for those people to forgive her, I guess.)
- Gosh, just the fact that she’s so panicked when she wakes up 💔
- I love how Adora, despite being so concerned and wanting to reach out for her, holds back and gives Catra her space.
(- Side-note: Let me take this moment to shamelessly promote what’s most likely Noelle’s fanfic: Don’t Go by Annacharlier on AO3 does an amazing job filling in the blanks between Save the Cat and Taking Control and explaining what goes on in Adora and Catra’s heads here. Give it a read if you haven’t already!)
- “I keep having this horrible vision of a blonde girl who thinks she’s better than everyone barging into my room all day.” I love how Catra’s still her snarky self, though. And how Adora isn’t even mad and just smiles at this.
- Okay, so the obvious topic of Catra not wanting to face everyone she’s hurt aside, I find it interesting how Entrapta is the only person she doesn’t use a nickname for - she calls them Arrow Boy, Sparkles and Entrapta. I think it’s a mix of her knowing Entrapta better than the others, and her respecting Entrapta more.
- The entire fight between Adora and Catra is such a good scene (as sad as it is). Catra doesn’t want to face all her mistakes (she didn’t think she’d actually live long enough to have to), is plagued by obvious guilt and still doesn’t really realize that Adora came back for her because she cares about her (hence her accusation that Adora “just loves feeling like a hero”). Adora on the other hand thinks that things should be okay now because she saved Catra and they’re together again, so why can’t they just make up? She doesn’t realize that Catra needs a bit of time to really digest everything that’s happened. And that “I never hated you!” moment? Beautiful. I think it’s a huge thing for Catra to realize that even when they were enemies, Adora’d didn’t hate her.
- Many She-Ra episodes have two plots going on at once and one of them happens to be way more interesting than the other. In season 1, it was often “the Horde plot is more interesting than the Bright Moon plot” for me. In this episode, it’s a very clear “the plot in space is more interesting than the one on Etheria” - sorry.
- I’m glad we finally got a Spinnetossa kiss, though!! This season is just bringing all the gay!
- Micah freaking out about Glimmer potentially not liking him (not realizing that Glimmer’s really not a kid anymore) is also kind of cute.
- I love Glimmer’s expression when Adora complains about Catra. She just looks so #done with all of this.
- Adora calling Catra a “stubborn brat” is amazing. (Though tbh, I misheard her at first and thought she said “stubborn cat” - which would be true, too.)
- “Did you think she was going to just instantly become a totally different person?” That’s a very good point and I’m glad the show didn’t make Catra just insantly act completely differently.
- “I believe - in Horde Prime.” Look, I could just quote all of Wrong Hordak’s lines here because they’re just too good 🤣. Also, the fact that his apron says “Smooch the chef” in first one’s writing? Amazing.
- Poor Bow being the designated driver and having to fly into an asteroid field. Love how excited Entrapta is about it, though.
- I just noticed that when Catra’s getting those flashes after the ship is hit, the first image she sees is of Krytis!
- “Once again, Catra is ruining out lives!” Okay, but that’s really not her fault this time. Though I get that Adora’s just being overdramatic here. (“Then try not to hit anything!” 🤣) Also, my first thought was Wrong Hordak was sending the trace signal, not Catra’s chip - but the chip does make more sense, since Wrong Hordak was cut off from the hivemind and Horde Prime also couldn’t find Hordak for years.
- Honestly, the group on Etheria should have left that party way sooner. Something was so obviously super off there, and they noticed it as well - but still stuck around for way too long. (But then again, they had no idea about the chips at all, so maybe that’s a bit harsh.)
- The way Spinnerella moves her neck when she says “something weird just happened” - very nice hinting/foreshadowing there!
- “Me? Why would I wanna hurt you? Ooooh, you mean because you sent me to Beast Island, stole my work and used it to rip a hole in the fabric of space and time? I get it. Hold still.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Have I mentioned I LOVE ENTRAPTA??? I love how she’s not even mad at first and then so genuinely proud of herself for “getting it” - but also, since this is pretty much the worst thing Catra’s ever done and something she (rightfully) feels a lot of guilt over, I’m glad the show took the time to address it. Yeah, it’s played for laughs here at first, but then the episode actually seriously addresses it.
- “We’re doing this. Then if you think hiding from the people you hurt will make you feel better, we’ll drop you off and you’ll never have to see us again. *sigh* You’ll never have to see me again.” THIS MOMENT. Okay, let’s get into this: I like that Adora’s not letting Catra get away with anything here. That she tells her straight-up that they have to remove the chip or else Prime will find them, that she questions if hiding from everyone she’s hurt will really make Catra feel better, but that she also agrees to drop her off if Catra really wants that. And I like how Catra, now that Adora is offering her what she said she wanted earlier, realizes she doesn’t actually want to lose Adora again either. Adora offered to let her go, and Catra realized she doesn’t want that. I also really like Catra asking Adora to stay: It shows that Adora’s presence still makes Catra feel safe, hence why she wants her there for the chip removal procedure, but it also nicely foreshadows the finale, where Catra will ask Adora to “stay” again. Also, all that hand-holding and blushing? Cute.
- “I’m not protecting you, I’m protecting them.” YES. And here’s where Micah shows that he does take Frosta seriously and does understand how strong she is - good!
- Catra seeing Horde Prime’s thoughts: First of all, it breaks my heart how tiny and scared she sounds when she talks about Horde Prime “using” her (but also not really because I’m evil and I’m here for the angst). Then, I like how she insists she has to do this because otherwise Adora will “do something stupid and get herself killed” - Catra is super protective of Adora. And again with the hand-holding and asking Adora to stay with her 😭. I also like that it really works and Catra ends up finding out what Horde Prime is doing and even seeing what’s going on on Etheria.
- Also: I like that Horde Prime is genuinely furious about Adora saving Catra. That the whole reason he changed his strategy and started chipping people on Etheria is because he’s genuinely pissed about that and wants revenge (something Double Trouble will again confirm one episode later).
- Can we also talk about Adora and Catra immediately reaching for each other and hugging when the ship gets hit?
- “She-Ra, if you really are out there: Are you getting this?” Okay, but that’s just the thing: She literally is getting this! I like how the two plots connect here and how Adora becoming She-Ra and defeating the ships in space also helps Swift Wind power up and save the others.
- Everyone’s already talked about this at length, but I love She-Ra’s new transformation! The symbols representing Adora’s friends (winged boots for Glimmer, heart for Bow, mask for Catra), the way better outfit and hair in a ponytail, the beautiful galaxy background with those lights, the triumphant orchestra version of the transformation music - I’m here for all of it! (Also for Catra’s little blush at the end there.)
- She-Ra destroying the ships in space is epic.
- Catra’s apology to Entrapta is such a huge moment for her and such a nice scene! I like how she technically didn’t even have to do it: Entapta didn’t expect an apology and was already on her way out. But Catra has been feeling bad about this for a long time and realized now that she doesn’t actually want to run away. And after we’ve seen Catra being awful to everyone and feeling guilty over what she did to Entrapta since early season 4, it feels so good to finally hear her genuinely apologize for it (and genuinely apologize to someone other than Adora in general). And Entrapta patting her head with her hair is so precious 😭. I love both of them.
- The scene of Catra joining everyone else at dinner is so good 😭😭😭. How she’s finally ready to face them, but still sits away from them, not expecting to be forgiven or accepted, how Bow and Glimmer make room for her and invite her to join, how her ears perk up at that, Glimmer offering her food, that glance between her and Adora... YES. Catra is someone who’s been rejected and made to feel like an outcast her entire life, and she was convinced everyone hated her now. Bow and Glimmer inviting her to sit with them here was so important.
- I love Entrapta asking if the food comes in smaller sizes. She just has a thing for tiny food and I can respect that.
- And... oh no, Spinnerella is chipped!
This was another really good episode! I like how it shows Catra’s growth and shows her working on herself. I also like how things weren’t just immediately okay between her and Adora and that she still has to work on actually redeeming herself even after her heroic sacrifice. But I also think it’s realistic that Adora and Glimmer aren’t holding a grude against her, since she literally went through hell for them. Her apology to Entrapta was really beautiful and all the soft moments between her and Adora make my heart melt.

Doppelgänger (15/19)
Previously on Doppelgänger ~ Masterlist ~ Next time on Doppelgänger
Danny, Sam, and Tucker were just 14 when they took a look inside the portal Danny’s parents had built. From there, everything changed. They woke up with white hair, green skin, and powers they could learn to control. They were hybrids, halfas.
They were the hero Doppelgänger.
{Doctor's Disorders}
“Ugh, what is that smell?” Danny asked as he and Valerie approached Tucker.
“This,” Tucker held up a spray can. “It’s my new all-over body spray. I made it myself, I call it Foley by Tucker Foley. It combines with your natural odor to create a sweet, manly scent that smells different to everyone who sniffs it.”
Their noses scrunched up as Tucker started spraying himself.
“Tuck, you smell like a sweaty cookie.”
“By choice. The ladies will be swarming all over me.”
“Doubtful,” Valerie snorted. “You smell horrible.”
He pointed at her with the can. “You don’t count. You’re already dating Dan-”
The can slipped from his hand and clattered to the ground, spraying Valerie in the process.
She scowled as the smell of sports bra and sugar cookies washed over her. “You better hope this washes out,” she growled and shoved past him towards the locker room. Thankfully she had first period free so she could shower and drown her clothes in perfume. It didn’t completely help, but it was better. Maybe she should consider keeping a spare set of clothes in her locker. It’d help for the times she tears her clothes in a fight.
“Anyone in here?” Tetslaff called just as she finished fixing her hair.
“I’m here,” she said, tossing her mini curling iron into her locker. She grabbed her bag and walked towards the door to see Tetslaff eyeing her.
“You feeling okay, Gray? Any bug bites?”
“No. I’m fine. Why?”
“All students need to report to the gym. Anyone else here?”
She shook her head. “Bailey was in here, but she left a few minutes ago.
The PE teacher nodded and escorted her to the gym. She was surprised to see the entire student body either sitting or laying on the floor and bleachers, most of whom were glowing. The teachers were hovering over everyone as a man in a doctor’s uniform drifted through, occasionally stopping to talk to the students.
When he saw her, he came over. “And who do we have here?”
“Valerie Gray, what’s going on?”
“What symptoms is she showing?” he asked Tetslaff, ignoring Valerie’s question.
“None as far as I’ve seen,” she grunted and the doctor frowned behind his mask.
“Interesting. She’s the fourth one. Sit her with the others.” He gestured to the corner and Valerie smiled to see Danny, Sam, and Tucker waiting there.
They looked surprised when she joined them and Danny pulled her into a hug. “You okay?”
“Other than still smelling a little awful, I’m perfect. What’s going on?” she asked, pulling back but staying pressed into his side.
Sam gestured to the other students. “Some sort of ghost bug, literally. A whole swarm attacked the school and started phasing into people, resulting in that. You didn’t notice?”
“I’ve been in the showers.” She sent Tucker a look and he ducked behind Sam. “None of you got the bug?”
They shook their heads and Danny pointed off to the side, “Jazz did though.”
Valerie looked over to see Danny’s sister curled up on a mat, her body fuzzy at the edges. “Well, there goes the idea that prolonged exposure to ghost hunting equipment is what’s protecting us. Are your parents doing anything?”
Danny shrugged. “We’ve been in here the whole time. The doctor said he wanted us close since we’re the only ones showing signs of immunity. And they took our phones so I can’t call my parents.”
She smirked and took out her phone. “Looks like they forgot to take mine.”
Danny took it and the three crowded around him to keep him from sight.
“Do your parents have something that could fix this?” Sam asked as Danny dialed.
He thought about it for a second then smiled. “Mom, Dad… Yeah, I’m okay… Really? That’s weird. Why wouldn’t they tell you anything? Nevermind, I’ll explain everything, but can you guys grab the Ghost Catcher before you leave?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Is it just me or does Dr. Rand look really mad that his patients are being cured?” Valerie hummed.
Said doctor was currently standing off to the side as the teachers lead students through the ghost catcher, Danny’s parents sucking up the ghost bugs as they were pulled out.
Jazz took in his scowl with a frown. “Maybe it’s a pride thing? He was pretty much useless.”
“Or maybe he was part of a government conspiracy to experiment on us while we possessed ghost abilities,” Sam suggested.
“Sounds like something the Guys in White would do,” Danny muttered sleepily from his spot in Valerie’s lap.
“He’s a doctor. All doctors are evil,” Tucker agreed.
“What’s his problem?” Valerie whispered to her boyfriend.
“He’s afraid of doctors, nurses, hospitals, so on.”
“What’d you say his name was again?” Jazz asked, still staring at the man.
“Dr. Bert Rand.”
“Bertrand? Like Ms. Spectra’s gh-assistant?” Jazz stuttered.
The trio turned to her, then groaned, “Oh my god, we’re idiots.”
Valerie frowned as their voices nudged at her, but pushed it aside as Jazz asked, “What?”
“Spectra was a ghost, same for Bertrand. They must be behind the attack on the school,” Sam explained.
Valerie narrowed her eyes and moved Danny off of her. “I need to go to the bathroom.”
Jazz bit her lip as the girl left, then nudged Danny. “You three should go too. You, uh, don’t know when you might get another chance.”
They frowned, but agreed quickly and left.
Jazz smiled and leaned back. Those three could take care of the ghosts. Now she just needed an excuse for when Valerie got back.
{Pirate Radio}
Jazz sighed as she relaxed on her blanket, only to frown when someone started messing with the radio.
She sat up to glare at Tucker. “Knock it off!”
He held up his hands and backed up.
“Come on, Jazz. This music bites,” Danny said. “It’s our turn to pick something to listen to.”
“I like it. It relaxes me.”
“Well, we do outnumber you four to one,” Valerie pointed out.
Jazz grabbed the radio and held it close to her, scowling at the younger teens that she had joined on the Ops Center for stargazing.
Just then, the ground began to rumble and a pirate ship of all things burst intangibly out of the street.
Jazz jumped to her feet and gestured her brother back. “Danny, you, Sam, and Tucker need to go. Uh, go get our parents. Downstairs. Out of view.”
“R-right, we’ll go get them,” Tucker said and the trio ran off.
“I thought your parents were out,” Valerie said.
“Oops, I forgot.” Jazz turned to the girl and was surprised to see her pulling a ghost pistol out of her bag.
The girl froze. “Oh, uh, Danny gave it to me. For, you know, protection?”
As cute as it was that Danny was so worried about his girlfriend, Jazz would have to talk to him about handing out weapons of all things.
“Got anything else in there?”
Valerie tossed her a thermos just as a group of pirate ghosts landed on the Ops Center. The two girls went to work blasting and sucking up ghosts. Jazz saw a pair heading for the shield and pointed them out to Valerie, but Danny or one of his partners cut them off. She turned back to the main group of pirates and smiled when she saw the other two flying through the air.
She frowned when they seemed to fire on nothing. “What are they doing?”
Valerie looked up, then gave her an incredulous look. “Fighting the ghost captain.”
“I don’t see anything.”
“Weird,” she shot a headless pirate and Jazz sucked him in. “Can you hear him?”
“No.”
“Lucky you. He’s a brat. Maybe eight or nine years… Okay, so he’s eleven. Like that makes a big difference,” she snorted. Then her eyes widened and she barrelled into Jazz.
Something exploded behind them.
“You’ve never babysat, have you? Jazz asked as they picked themselves up. “Kids don’t like to be told they’re younger than they think they are.”
“I’ve only babysat actual babies. They don’t talk back,” Valerie said.
The ghost ship flickered then disappeared.
“What happened?”
“Doppelgänger caught the brat.”
The sound of a guitar-strumming echoed around them and two of Danny’s trio slammed into the ground in front of the girls.
“Ember’s back,” they said, rubbing their heads. “You guys might want to either get inside or put on Specter Deflectors before you get hypnotized.”
“M. Bersback? The guy who gave us that awful Vapor Drone? He’s a ghost?” Valerie asked.
They stared at her blankly, then one threw their hands in the air. “Oh come on! That's not a clue. That's a billboard! We really got to start paying more attention to these things!”
{Reign Storm, Part 1}
“Did you get the book report done?” Valerie asked as she passed Danny a water bottle.
“Mm-hm.” He took the bottle and tried to drink it.
“Lid Danny,” she chuckled.
He scowled and took the lid off. “I think you beat the ghost out of me.”
“Then I did my job,” she chuckled. “Seriously though, you’re doing really good.”
“Can I have my black belt then?”
“Not quite. Now come on, we’ve still got fifteen minutes before we need to clean up.”
He groaned, but pushed himself to his feet and followed her over to the wrestling mat. Jazz had somehow talked Tobias, the wrestling coach, into letting them use it for their sparring in the morning after Tuesday’s practice in return for cleaning up after. It was a lot better than sparring at home, even if it did mean getting up way too early.
Of course, being at school meant there were sometimes distractions.
“Think fast, Fentoni!”
Danny turned just as Valerie caught the football that was headed for him.
“Unless you’re here to spar, then get lost, Dash,” she huffed, tossing the ball to Kwan.
“Spar with Fenton?” Dash laughed and Kwan joined in.
“You’d snap him in half before he could even throw his first punch!”
“I thought I said to get lost,” Valerie growled stepping between them and Danny.
Dash leered at him. “You gonna let a girl fight your battles.”
Danny raised an eyebrow as Valerie stiffened. “Now you f-ed up.”
“And what, exactly, is that supposed to mean, Baxter?” she asked, cracking her knuckles.
Kwan grabbed Dash’s shoulder and whispered something that made Dash pale.
“J-just that Fenton’s too weak to fight his own battles, he has to rely on his girlfriend to do it for him. I did-din’t mean, you know, that a girl couldn’t kick butt.”
“Nice save,” Danny said and Dash gave him a death glare.
“Leave,” Valerie said.
They did.
“I’m definitely going to pay for that later,” Danny chuckled as he got into position on the mat.
“If you’re not going to fight back then stop antagonizing him,” she said.
“I’ve considered fighting back.”
“Then why don’t you.”
Danny raised an eyebrow. “You haven’t met Sidney Poindexter, then.”
“Who?”
“He’s the ghost who haunts my locker. He gets huffy with me if I try to get back at Dash. I was putting my annoyingness to full use on Dash when we first met and Sidney is paranoid I’ll do it again. According to him, I’m just as much of a bully as Dash if I do and he hates bullies.”
“Need me to take care of him?”
“Nah, we’ve got a truce. He’s not too bad. I just can’t pull anything on Dash without risking a lecture from him. And he’s still learning modern slang so a lecture from him is even worse than one of Lancer’s hip and funky fresh talks.”
“Do you guys know why Nathan’s been giving me evil eyes?” Danny asked as the trio walked home.
“He’s got a crush on Valerie. He’s ticked you and her are dating,” Tucker explained.
“He came up to me the other day and tried to tell me I needed to, Get your cheating boyfriend away from my Valerie! It took me fifteen minutes to get him to back off and I think he still believes you’re two-timing Valerie and I,” Sam said.
“We’re dating? Sam, why didn't you tell me? I'd have put my book down.”
Sam shoved him towards his stoop. “I want to break up. It’s not me, it’s you.”
“Okay, but I get Tucker in the divorce.”
Tucker shook his head and linked arms with Sam. “Sorry, Danny, but you knew I was a gold digger going into this.”
Sam shoved him away as well. “You can have him.”
“Changed my mind, he’s yours now.”
“You’re both awful,” Tucker fake whined and marched off.
“See you tomorrow,” the two yelled at his retreating back.
Danny turned to Sam. “Are you going to head out for patrol or do you want a snack first?”
“Depends, what’s the likelihood your food’s contaminated?”
“My mom and dad are partway through a new invention.”
“Pass.”
“You guys are ridiculous,” he called as she went to the nearest alleyway.
“Ectoplasm’s not a veggie,” she called back.
“Okay, fair,” he snorted and opened the door. “I’m home. Anything happen while -”
Danny cut off as he saw his family in the living room surrounding a certain fruit loop.
“Ah, hello, Daniel!”
“You!” he shouted, tossing his bag aside and marching up to the group. “What are you doing here?”
Some of his anger lifted as he saw his mom accidentally poor tea right onto Vlad’s lap. “Totally valid question.”
“Still steaming?” Vlad asked in his creepy stalker voice.
“You have no idea,” she growled.
Vlad turned his attention to Danny. “I was just, you know, passing through. And then I saw that marvelous battlesuit and thought, since I can't just destroy Jack and take it, I suppose I'll steal its secrets right out from under his nose!”
Danny’s fists clenched as Vlad met his dad’s eyes with a smile and the two started laughing.
“Oh I swear, I am such a josher,” he held his cup up to Danny’s mom. “More tea please.”
She poured it on his head.
“Not there! Ooh!”
Danny’s mom stomped off and his dad followed.
“I don't know what you're up to, Plasmius,” Danny started in a whisper, then blinked. “Actually, I do. You just told me.”
“That’s right! And say a word and I'll share your secret with your little friend.”
Danny stared at him blankly. “What friend?”
“Miss Gray.”
“How do you even -”
Danny was cut off when an alarm sounded through the house. His dad ran back into the room and hit a hidden button to bring up a radar system.
“Galloping goblets, it's the Ecto-Exodus Alarm!”
“The Ecto-whaty-what?” Jazz and Danny asked.
“The Ecto-Exodus Alarm! An alarm that only goes off when we're about to face a massive ghost invasion!”
Danny faked reaching into his pocket so he could grab the Fenton Phones out of his Space Fold. “I need to make a call!”
He felt Vlad’s eyes on his back as he ran upstairs, but ignored them.
“Sam, Tucker, please tell me one of you can hear me?” he said into the phones and through their link as he shut his door.
“What’s wrong?” Sam said.
“Ghost invasion. Big one. Coming right at us,” Danny said and transformed. “We need to get back here right now.”
Danny’s ghost sense went off.
“Too late.”
Danny flew out of the house as ghosts came pouring out of the portal and onto the street. His eyes landed on Johnny and Kitty and he flew towards them.
“Hey Thirteen, what’s going on?” he asked as he came level with the bike.
“You mean you haven’t heard?” Kitty said, turning to him. “Pariah Dark’s back.”
“Who?”
“If you don’t know, we’re not going to tell you,” Johnny snorted.
“Come on. We’ve been letting you mostly run wild as long as you don’t hurt anyone or destroy anything. Can’t you just tell us?”
Johnny growled and stopped the bike. “Look, we don’t know too much. He’s way, way before our time. All we know is that he’s called the King of All Ghosts and someone woke him up. Now he’s trashing the zone and looking for some ring that will give him ultimate power or something when paired with his crown. He’s powerful so everyone’s getting while the gettin’s good. Speaking of which.”
Johnny took off, but Danny didn’t bother to chase him. Instead, he turned to Sam as she joined him.
“This is bad. No kidding.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tucker flinched as his ghost sense went off for the fifteenth time. Where were all these ghosts coming from? He hoped he got into range of the mind link soon. Sam at least should be transformed so he should be getting close. Why did he have to choose today of all days to visit the gaming shop in Elmerton?
Someone blasted him and he groaned. He’d wanted to regroup with his partners before picking any fights. He turned to his opponent and groaned again. “What are you doing in town, fruit loop?”
“Haven’t we already been through this, Daniel?” Vlad asked flying closer and Tucker rolled his eyes.
So Danny or Sam have talked to him then. He hoped they were okay. “Refresh our memory.” Goosebumps swept over him and he gestured towards the ghost. “Are you the reason all these ghosts are around?”
“I’m flattered you think I could organize all this.”
“You’re right. We forgot you put everything into intelligence and strength. No way you could convince all these ghosts to listen with your charisma being a dump stat,” Tucker said, nodding. “Our bad.”
Vlad looked confused for a moment, then pinched the bridge of his nose. “I’m not here to play games, Daniel.”
“Then you’ve got the wrong half-ghost.” If he didn’t want jokes, he should have gone with Sam.
Vlad scowled at him, then he was being grabbed from behind. He looked up to see another Vlad holding him. The older halfa pinned one of his arms behind his back and held the other out to the first Vlad.
“Let go of us, creep!”
“Calm down, Daniel. I’m not going to hurt you,” Vlad one said, flying closer and grabbing his wrist. “I simply need you to hold onto something for me.”
“And why would we ever help you?”
Vlad one disconnected his glove from the hazmat and pulled it off, revealing green skin and black nails.
Wow, Sam would like those.
“Because this is a powerful relic,” Vlad two explained as Vlad one slipped a green and black ring onto Tucker’s middle finger. “One which I’m sure you’d want to keep safe and out of the hands of dangerous ghosts.”
“Like you?”
Vlad one smirked and replaced his glove.
“If it’s so powerful, why would you give it up?” Tucker asked as the Vlads let him go and merged together.
“That is for you to discover on your own. Ta!” He teleported away.
“We need to get a restraining order or something,” Tucker muttered, rubbing his shoulder. He glanced down at his hand uncertainly. Vlad could certainly have been lying, but if he wasn’t, Tucker couldn’t just toss the ring and risk it ending up in the wrong hands.
With a sigh, he continued on his way. The trio could figure this out together. Thankfully he only had to fly for a few minutes before his mind connected to Sam and Danny.

Could/should/did prompt Shikako in bnha?
it could have gone like this:
"How does your quirk work?" the girl at the bar asks. She's far too young to be at a bar, but no one can make her leave.
... which is alarming considering this is also the headquarters for the League of Villains and she very much is not part of said league.
Not that Kurogiri isn't trying to fix that. "If you join us, I'll tell you," he says mildly, sliding a drink over to her. Non-alcoholic, of course.
"Hm, I'd rather not," she responds equally mild, casual as she drinks the beverage, unafraid.
Kurogiri shrugs and continues his work. Just because he's trying to recruit her, doesn't mean he's going to be pushy about it. And anyway, he'll just ask her again tomorrow, same as yesterday and the day before and the day before that.
"Were you able to find your... Gelel, was it?" he asks conversationally. He's considering cooking something, a proper meal and not just snack food, something high in nutrition.
The girl sighs, staring off forlornly into the distance. After a moment of silence, she says quietly, "No."
Maybe a stew? Something filling and comforting?
"I... I don't think I'll meet Gelel again."
Frazzled for some reason, Kurogiri slides an entire jar of cherries to her.
She looks up at him confused before opening it and sliding both the jar and the lid back.
He blinks and is grateful that his expressions are near impossible to parse. "So what are your plans now?" Kurogiri asks, hoping that is less of a land mine.
The girl shrugs, fiddles with the end of her braid, "I'm not entirely sure. I wasn't really planning on being here long term."
He looks around, a quick glance upstairs, assessing, "Do you have a place to stay?"
She shoots him a wry smile, "I'm still not joining your league."
"It's not my league," he corrects her.
She rolls her eyes. "The league you are a part of," she amends.
Kurogiri shrugs, acquiesces. He considers what living necessities a normal person who isn't an undead entity made of fog and shadows might have. "Do you have anyone who could help? Friends? Family?"
At this, the girl's expression shutters again, and Kurogiri curses himself internally. After another silent moment of contemplation, she meets his eyes. Her face as inscrutable as his lack of one.
"Something like that."
---
it should have gone like this:
It's different this time, Shikako thinks, wider and far more unpredictable. Impossibly overwhelming. At least there is the semblance of morality--good versus evil, heroes against villains--but that doesn't really hide the truth of it:
Once more, Shikako finds herself born into a world of child soldiers.
Damn it.
But she thinks she can keep herself out of it. Her family aren't heroes, though they do make devices and gadgets that help heroes with their jobs. There isn't an oncoming apocalyptic disaster on the horizon--or, at least, not that she knows of. She can live her life in relative peace, stay out of the thick of things. She wants to thrive in this world of powers without prophecies, relearn to love invention without the desperation that had pushed her before.
Although if she happens to create things that are helpful to heroes that's not really getting herself involved, that's just contributing to society and also following in her new parents' footsteps. And everyone knows that UA's Support Department is the best in the country, it only makes sense to apply for that school.
And, yes, she may have gone a little over the top during the test but, really, they were robots and where else would she have the opportunity to test her limits (or lack thereof) without fear of bystander casualties? And, what, was she not supposed to help out her fellow test takers when they needed it? That's just common decency.
Honestly, she has no idea how she ended up in the Hero Department's Class 1-A.
She also does not understand why Principle Nezu won't let her transfer into the Support Department--obviously, she'll do the most good there. She has a portfolio to prove it!
... Although that just backfires on her because instead of getting transferred, she just gets an additional period added to the end of her daily schedule where she and Mei Hatsume--who maybe lives in the Development Studio--unintentionally compete for most volatile inventions under the exhausted supervision of Power Loader. And she still has to deal with the even more volatile personalities in the Hero class with Aizawa-sensei's frankly bizarre teaching style.
If she weren't who she was--if she didn't remember--she probably wouldn't be able to balance things as well as she does. Although she doesn't really connect with her classmates as much as she probably should, hasn't really fallen into a group the same way others have. The occasional exchanges she has with Dark Shadow has made them friends of a sort, she thinks, though maybe not. Except for minor conversations over homework or the weather, she doesn't really talk to anyone in Class 1-A.
Of course, this changes after they are attacked in the USJ. Asui helps her out in the Flood Zone when Shikako is taken by surprise--teleported into water, not her best moment--and together with Midoriya they regroup with some of their other classmates only to find Aizawa-sensei in the middle of being brutally murdered.
And something within her snaps:
Because this isn't her home and these aren't her teammates and she doesn't really want to be a Hero, not really, but... Rule Number One.
Maybe its not so different after all.
---
but it actually went like this:
When the students of UA move into the newly built Heights Alliance en masse, each class finds a fun addition to their ranks.
"Three in your case," the girl with the braid says to the collective curiosity of Class 1-A. "Apparently your class is... special," she says it with an almost diplomatic smile, but from the unimpressed expressions on her compatriots' faces it's not exactly a compliment.
Iida, ever the dutiful class representative, is the first to respond. "Isn't it too late in the year for you to transfer to UA? And while the dorms are capable of housing additional students, I don't believe our classroom will be able to do the same. Though that is not to say that you are unwelcome, rather, that we would not want you to feel unaccommodated."
The other girl, the one with purple hair and a scowl, scoffs, "You've already met us, we're Agents. We're not joining your class. Why would we want to be Hero students?" With her expression and crossed arms, she could not convey more disgust with the very idea if she had spat on the floor.
Some of class bristle at the insult, Bakugou audibly snarls, but when the last Agent, a boy with black hair, slants a disapproving glance in her direction she looks away, chastised.
Quick to clarify, the first Agent says, "We'll be living with you in the dorms, but we'll continue our educations separately. For you, UA has become a boarding school. For us, we'll commute to our respective schools. But thank you for your concern."
"But if you're not students, then why are you here?" asks Kaminari, practically emanating confusion.
The male Agent, with a somehow even more disapproving expression, sighs. "Your teacher should have been the one to tell you."
"Your principle, along with building the Heights Alliance, has acquired the services of our Agency as another deterrent to Villains," explains the friendly Agent. "Most of the buildings have only Agent assigned, but given your class history you get the three of us. I'm Agent Bat," she introduces herself with an almost awkward little wave.
"Agent Hawk," says the boy, nodding in greeting.
The purple haired girl, arms still crossed, rolls her eyes, "Possum."
"Possum and I will be on the second floor, Hawk will be on the fourth floor. If you have any information or suspicians of Villain incursions and activities you can come to any of us. We also have a trained medic in 1-B's dorm, Agent Slug, she'll probably introduce herself later today. Otherwise you can just pretend like we're not here," Agent Bat says.
"So you're just going to be... watching us?" asks Ashido.
Agent Bat shakes her head. "No, no, just consider us as neighbors. When it comes to Villains, your concerns are our concerns."
His already minimal patience worn thin, Bakugou finally explodes, "We don't need any fucking babysitters!"
While most of his classmates wouldn't phrase it the same, the sentiment is shared amongst them. They've survived so much already--random interlopers trying to take control just grates on them.
"Well it's not your choice, now is it?" Agent Possum shoots back, ready and raring to match Bakugou's irritation with her own. "We're Agents and this is our mission. If you want to be pissy about it, it doesn't matter. Although if you're going to act like a brat, no wonder your principle thinks you need babysitters."
"We're not actually your babysitters," Agent Hawk clarifies, tone apathetic. "We're not here to protect you."
"The dorms and your sensei are your security. We're not your bodyguards." Agent Bat continues with an almost sheepish shrug that fails to mitigate the coldness of her words, "You're our bait."

A/N: I realize this ask box event is essentially tripling the amount of effort required for each prompt... I mean, I’m still enjoying it. But like... far more challenging than I thought it would be going into it.
Anyway, the “actually happened” section is based off of my fic built on a hill (light the fire)

Eclipse Chap.3-Two Unlikely Heroes
Hello!
So I took a bit of a break after finishing one of my other stories, A Royal Problem. A ton of personal stuff happened that just pushed my mental health down the rabbit hole and I needed a break from writing for a bit.
After some relaxing and such, I’m feeling better and back to updating.
Hope you enjoy this brand new chapter!!
Ever since what happened with Hat Kid, her ship was left abandoned. Everything was right where she left it, except all the lights were off. Two beams of purple light glowed as two figures teleported onto the ship. “What happened here?” A young boy asked. The figures looked around the ship, but couldn’t find Hat Kid in sight.
“I don’t know.” The girl asked. “Let’s just find Hat Kid and go.” The two kids looked around the dark spaceship hoping they could find Hat Kid or to switch on the power. As they searched the ship, one of the kids found the switch and tried to turn it on, but even when she did the lights didn’t turn back on. “Well, power is out.” She sighed. “Have you found Hat yet?”
The young boy shook his head as he tried knocking on the door. “Hat, it’s us! Let us in!” He yelled. The two kids looked around the dark spaceship hoping they could find Hat Kid or to switch on the power. Hearing there was no reply he shrugged at the girl.
The young girl groaned as she went over to the door to see if she could get a hold of Hat Kid herself. Just as she was walking towards the door she paused as she saw out the window. The young girl ran towards the window as her eyes widened at what she saw.
“Timmy. You gotta come see this.” The young girl said.
Timmy, the young boy walked over to the window and saw himself and gasped. The two kids looked at one another and nodded knowing Hat Kid is in trouble or caused the trouble.
Meanwhile, back in the cellar. Snatcher struggled to break free from his chains, but no luck. He kicked the wall in frustration and sighed.
“Didnt you forget that those chains kept you locked up tight.”
Snatcher gasped recognizing that voice. He turned to see Vanessa, back to normal in her beautiful green diamond dress, and her bright blonde, though a little messy blonde hair. She was chained up just like him. “V-Vanessa?”
“Yeah. Can’t believe you forgot about me. Your princess. Your one true love.” She groaned.
Snatcher growled. She still thinks he still loved her? “I forgot about you because of what you did to me!” He snapped back.
Vanessa scoffed. “What about what you did to me?” She replied. “You cheated on me with that…that flower girl!”
“I told you for the hundredth time I didn’t cheat on her! I bought flowers from her to give to you!” He yelled.
“That’s what they all say.” Vanessa mumbled.
Snatcher’s eyes widened as he heard what she said. “Excuse me!” He yelled.
“Well it’s true.”
Snatcher glared knowing that was the last straw in this argument. “Listen here you-“ soon the prince got interrupted hearing someone walking inside the manor. The royals went silent for a while until the noise died down. They both sighed, but this interruption caused Snatcher to calm down a bit.
It went silent in the cell again, until Vanessa struggled to get herself free from the chains using her ice powers, but no ice was forming on the chains. She then gave up and was already exhausted from trying to use her ice powers.
Not wanting her to force herself, Snatcher decided to try using his fire magic to see if he can free himself. “Don’t worry I’ve been arrested before. I’ll get us out of this. He told her. Snatcher tried to see if his fire magic could free him, but no amount of fire was coming from his hands. Seeing he too had no magic he gave up himself. “What happened to our magic?”
“I don’t know? That brat of yours was the reason we’re locked up here and we’re magic-less!” Vanessa snapped. That yell was then replied with someone unlocking the door and the shadow of a child walking down stairs.
“Hey brat!” Vanessa shouted. “Mind telling us what you're doing?!” The queen wondered if this was Hat Kid just coming down to mock them. No one responded except for the footsteps coming down the stairs.
However, to the royal ex’s surprise it wasn’t Hat Kid, but two kids who Snatcher and Vanessa didn’t recognize. Also known as the kids who were on Hat Kid’s ship earlier.
The girl had dark skin and deep dark curly brown hair tied with a blue ribbon and round large dark blue glasses over her purple eyes. She wore a green sweater over a white blouse and a blue skirt with black boots.
The boy had blue markings over his face, purple eyes as well, and had black spiky hair. He wore an orange sweater over a white t-shirt, black jeans and red and white sneakers.
“Who are you?” Snatcher asked. He eyed the kids, and while they didn’t look like Hat Kid, he could sense that they knew her somehow.
“Hi I’m Bow and this is Timmy.” The girl introduced. As Timmy was introduced he waved back at the royals. “We’re here to look for Hat Kid. Have any idea what happened here?” She asked.
Snatcher sighed and glared knowing his instinct was right all along. “Look, the kid went rogue and locked us up in here, if you two know anything about where she is, or if you knew about this! You better explain-”
“We would like to know ourselves.” Timmy replied, cutting Snatcher off.
Snatcher blinked and loosened his glare. He remembered that Hat Kid turned against him, but these two kids didn’t know what happened to the kid. “While we were looking for Hat Kid, we saw the disaster that has befallen this planet.” Bow Kid started.
“W-what happened?” Vanessa asked.
Bow Kid didn’t reply and just pulled a key from her pockets. They key unlocked the chains and freed Snatcher and Vanessa from them. The two royals rubbed their hands finally free from the pain of the chains.
Snatcher then turned to Vanessa and was surprised to see her free as well. “Why save her?” He asked.
“We need you two.” Timmy replied.
“For what?”
“I think it’s best if we show you, ourselves.” With that said, Bow then teleported the four of them back on Hat Kid’s ship. Once back on Hat Kid’s ship Bow and Timmy pointed at the window to let Snatcher and Vanessa see to themselves what happened to the planet.
Snatcher and Vanessa walked towards the window and gasped at the sight of the planet. The entire planet was a faded grey with clouds covering most of the places like Subcon and Mafia Town.
“W-what happened to the planet?” Snatcher asked, seeing the once colorful planet becoming nothing but a dull monochrome planet.
“The Time Piece happened.” Timmy answered. Snatcher and Vanessa turned to the boy as they saw him and Bow carry a Time Piece, which was now faded. Snatcher’s eyes widened as he looked at the state the Time Piece was in.
Though it wasn’t too much of a surprise to Snatcher, a Time Piece did this to the planet. A couple months earlier, the kid’s former friend Mustache Girl used the Time Piece on the planet and it became a lava pit. Now Hat Kid did the same thing, only this time the planet looked grey and cloudy.
“Great.” Snatcher sighed seeing now the planet is put into danger again thanks to the Time Pieces.
Bow then continued on about the Time Piece. “From what we know, Hat Kid somehow drained the energy of the Time Piece causing the planet’s time to stop.”
“How does that happen?” Snatcher asked.
Bow sighed and shook her head. “That we don’t know. There’s a lot about Time Pieces other than breaking them, and using them for fuel for a spaceship.”
Snatcher sighed, as the guilt started to slowly catch up to him. He didn’t expect Hat Kid to turn evil and stop time on the planet. The entire incident played in his head as he remembered seeing Hat Kid crying, her running off, and the transformation Hat Kid went through.
Bow and Timmy looked at one another realizing that the prince knew something they didn’t know. “Mister?” Bow asked, catching Snatcher’s attention. “Do you know something about this?”
The prince wanted to keep quiet, and not say it was his fault. However, keeping this quiet would do more harm than good. “I do.” He replied.

Devils Don’t Cry Part 4
3RD PERSON: KATSUKI POV:
     Katsuki stared at the spot where Deku had been before the warp had appeared. He blinked a few times before he heard running up the stairs. He quickly got up and looked at the stairs ready to fight when he saw spikey red hair enter the room. "Bakugo!" Kirishima began to walk over to his friend breathing a little hard but quickly sped up when he saw the burn forming on his face. "Hey hey! Bakubro are you alright? We should get you to Recovery Girl quick! Iida went and got the pros and when the villains saw them the main baddies left." The red haired boy explained as he started to lead his friend out of the building to the other classmates and pros.      As they walked over to the class Katsuki stared blankly at everyone still trying to process what had happened. He was positive now that what he had seen this morning was in fact Izuku. Why, he had no idea. He thought back to what Izuku had told him minutes ago. 'What did he mean "waging a war against the heroes soon"? How soon was soon.' He wondered as he made him way to where All Might was. He knew he had to tell someone but was very hesitant to.     Katsuki looked over at All Might and stopped walking, 'Tell them. Tell someone...anyone' but he stood there. He couldn't bring himself to tell anyone. This was something he wanted- needed to keep to himself. He turned away from the heroes and began to walk to his classmates as they were leaving the building. In that moment Katsuki had chosen to keep Dekus words a secret. He had chosen to save Deku himself. Somehow someway he would. 1ST PERSON: IZUKU POV:      I stepped through the portal waving bye to Kacchan as I did. I growled slightly in annoyance as my time had been cut short. "DAMMIT!!" I looked over at Tomura annoyed. "What did you fuck up? I saw All Might as I left! Where is Nomu!" My voice came out cold and angry not even trying to hide how I felt. Only then as I really looked at him did I see he had been shot. Not only once but a good few times. "What the hell?! Tomura!" I groaned in frustration and grabbed our pitiful medical kit before stomping over to the man child.       "Get the hell away from me Haikyo. I swear I'll disintegrate you!" I grabbed his arm activating Kacchans quirk a little to slightly burn him as a warning. "Do it and I'll explode you Tomura. Now shut up and sit still." I opened the case and grabbed what little medicine we had and began cleaning his wounds. Once I deemed they were clean I grabbed the antiseptic and began to rub it on his open wounds purposely applying more pressure to show my anger.      Once I had finished fixing and cleaning his wounds I wrapped them tightly. "I'll change the bandages tomorrow. Don't scratch or pick at them." I turned and went to my room needing to unwind. I quickly through off my button up vest not really caring if I broke any of the buttons. 'Just great! First my time is cut short then I find out that brat got hurt? Glorious now we need to wait for him to heal. Wonderful.' I growled at I thought knowing I was just angering myself more and more. I accidently activated Kacchans quirk as the hour hadn't run out yet. I let out a small explosion burning a hole in my dress shirt. "DAMMIT!!!!" I ripped off the rest of my dress shirt angrily. I needed to calm down and I needed to calm down now or I'd end up exploding a lot more things. 3RD PERSON: IZUKU POV:      Izuku quickly tried to run everything he knew about Katsukis quirk through his head. He quickly remembered it was triggered by sweat from his palms and realized with his stressed out angry state he was just making it worse. Izuku made his way to the bathroom running himself a fairly cold shower before jumping in, not even bothering to remove his pants.      He tried to calm himself as he sat on the floor of the shower keeping his hands in the cold water. He thought about the day and seeing Katsuki which made his palms heat up a little as a small blush dusted his cheeks. He thought about how he had kissed the confused blondes cheek. This was something he defiantly wouldn't have usually done and now thinking about it....he had no clue why he had done it.      Izuku stared at the shower head letting the cold water hit his pink face as well. 'Stupid Kacchan...' he thought as he looked at the shower head. 'Why do I feel like this...' he wondered as he slowly stood up feeling his palms cool down to the point he could tell he could no longer use Katsukis quirk. He sighed in relief turning off the water. He stripped out of the sticky wet pants and his boxers in the shower before ringing them out some and throwing them over the shower rail.     He stepped out of the shower completely naked and quickly grabbed a towel wrapping it around his hips. He grabbed his pants and boxers from the shower rail and took them to his room putting them in his hamper before grabbing some new dry clothes. He didn't feel like dressing up just to go out so he put on some more casual clothes before putting on his shoes. He made his way to the bar part before looking at Tomura, "I'm going out. Send me what you want for dinner and I'll pick it up. Don't pick at your wounds." With that Izuku left the hideout pulling up the hood on his hoodie to block the cold air from biting at his face. 3RD PERSON: KATSUKI POV:     After the villain attack the school gave Class 1-A the rest of the day off. Katsuki made his way to a nearby park to cool down and think. He sat on one of the swings staring up at the sky. He felt like a kicked puppy honestly. He hadn't told anyone about seeing Deku or about what he had said, he refused to let Recovery Girl heal him so he still had a hand shaped burn on his thigh and face. He very carefully touched the burn on his face and closed his eyes almost feeling like Izuku was touching him again.     He growled in anger and leaned to the side on the swing laying most of his weight on the chain. He didn't understand why he felt like this. He felt lost, broken, hurt and almost betrayed. He wanted to see Deku again, talk to him, tell him how he felt but he for one didn't know where Deku was and for two....he knew he wasn't very good at getting his feelings across and honestly...he'd probably just hurt Deku instead of getting his emotions across...    That angered him because he didn't want to hurt Deku anymore. He didn't want to hurt him when they were younger. Deku had been his best friend when they were kids...what had changed. Why had he pushed Deku away and turned against him...why hadn't he been better? Why was he the reason Deku turned evil? Why was he such a jerk to the boy he was sure he had loved..?

❄❄The tiniest snowflake❄❄
Tumblr media
The tattoo is a symbol of the snowflake clan. A large intricate detailed snowflake made of warm hues of amber dusted in sliver, outlines in gold. Everyone wore the mark with pride, with honour. They were a clan of assassin's everybody knew that they would do anything for money. But they only went after thoes who the law couldn't touch thoes who hid in darkness, the unknown of society. But something changed after 300 years of loyalty. Their views changed.  After a while killing people wasn't enough they were hungry for even more power so they became something twisted. What was once a clan of protectors, hero's was now a name that scared everyone.
Seven-year-old Amethyst  watches the sky from her perch, her back against the tree trunk, her legs stretched out in front of her. This was her escape, high in the trees where no one could reach her. Isolated and alone, where eyes can’t see her and faces can’t sneer at her . A safe haven, her God given solace, but also a curse.
Loneliness.
It’s a double-edged sword.
Alone, she doesn’t have to listen to the poison that spews from people’s lips, washing over her and choking her. She doesn’t have to see the hatred and malice directed toward a not-so-hypothetical devil spawn or the jeering glee at the image of said spawn’s rightfully earned suffering and death for the crime of existing. She doesn’t have to hear stories and legends about the oh so great clan and how she tainted their bloodline. How her parents should have struck her down of her 5th birthday. She was useless, unwanted, something ugly that didnt deserve to keep living. All because of her being born quirkless. Was she really something tinted, twisted and unclean? Would she really be destined to live a life of hardships? Would she really die lonely and alone never to know love?
Their words cut deep than any sword could, even alone, she is trapped in her own head. When she's  with people, she at least has something she can take her frustration out on. Without them, her thoughts enter a downward spiral of anger and self-disgust.
Still, it is better this way, at least, that is what she has convinced herself.
Who can possibly stand the thought of being near someone like her?
She didn’t deserve to be born. She is evil personified after all; there is nothing good about her.
She's tainted.
And so her thoughts would go, on and on in an endless, self-crippling cycle.
However today was different something had happened something even when your evil the honor the clan once had wouldn't stand for. Someone died that shouldn't have, as assassin's they had one rule get the job done, don't be seen, but most importantly  do it right.  The family broker aka Nathaniel was in charge of the assignments who got A-E assassinations.
Going by all the screaming someone royal screwed up a A column assassination attempt killing the 3rd cousin of the target, the good looks gene must run very deep to look so much like each other that even your 3rd cousin could past to be you.
"They want who blood as collateral?" Screamed the monarch!
 Nathaniel looked his long time friend and boss in the eye. "The assassin who killed the wrong man. I know this isn't something you want to hear believe my old friends but a sacrifice must be made as payment you know the law of the trade a life for a life."
"Unacceptable Nathaniel! I refuse to give up one of my best assassin's just because they didn't give a clear description. How was we to know that not only did they have the wrong person but that he had three look alike, he has the picture on him saw his target made the kill end of story. If they want a sacrifice they'll get on. I'm a man of my word and I follow the rules however they will not be getting the killer. Instead you can repay them with little miss worthless. I've been trying to find out a way to get rid of the brat for a whole year." The monarch gave a killer smile.
Nathaniel couldn't say he didn't see this coming. His old friend could be a hothead. Signing he nodded his head while making a call to set up preparations for the transfer.
Amethyst  couldn't believe her ears she was being sold.  Quickly and quietly she climbed  down from her hiding spot making it back to her room just in time for the door to be busted open. Raymond her uncle drags her before the gathered clan members throwing her down before the monarch.  Amethyst kept her eyes to the floor she wasnt allowed to look up to anyone unless being told otherwise. From there she listened to the clan speak about her, laughing and calling out words of happiness that she will no longer be their problem. The monarch spoke up calling the attention to be once again on himself. He announced that she will no longer live here from now on. Amethyst doesn’t know what to think. She didn't understand even if given as payment what could she possibly give, what use was she, was a nobody, she was quirkless though she did know how to fight she learnt by watching in serect her clan thought so much of themselves that they viewed she couldn't do anything yet she was quieter than the most skilled in stealth and was the lightest on her feet out of the whole clan. Well that came from being underweight. She might not look it but she was indeed much lighter than she looked.
Her face most have gave her away because next thing she knew she smacked hard enough she saw stars. She must had caught the side of her cheek between her teeth, blood pulled inside her mouth. Yet she stayed submissive low to the ground her head never once lifting higher. The monarch was angry, no pissed he sneered at her and spat in her face that she would be a prefect slave. That she would listen to each and every instruction place upon her and was expected to fulfill each task perfectly. She was also warned if she failed to do as told even death wouldn't be merciful for what they would do to her. Amethyst nodded silently brushing the spit and blood on her ragged clothes.  Next to the monarch stood his wife the misstress or shedevil in her book.
She rattled off a list of things such as her new training, no longer would she clean and cook. She had maybe a few weeks to months till the transfer was to be completed. Her training was in effect immediately. Shedevil order the clans women to teach her how to walk seductress not knowing what type of slave she would become. Shedevil explained that even though she was young and no one would touch her she must learn how to be a hostess.
From that night on till the night of her be shipped off she trained, walk like a lady, talk and listen like the person in your company hung the very moon themself. She was given better clothing too, she trained her voice to be softer sweeter, musical. The males of the clan showed her how to assist them in dressing while the woman did the same too just in case she was made into a lady in waiting. The cooks were given the task to show her how to make many different drinks. The monarch and shedevil gave little praise to her picking up her skills hastily. Little did they know Amethyst was always a fast learner dare say she was a genius not that anyone took note of it. After many weeks of hard training the day had come she was being transfer many states of to a underground strong held ran by the strongest family the mafia.
When Amethyst came too, the first thing she registered was pain.
Burning, searing pain. The kind of pain she hadn’t felt in weeks. Not since she started her new training. Her newest owner hated her by sight called her ugly and unsightly, that her skin tone was a eyesore, that her curly natural hair was dirty looking even though her hair was washed and scented with warm lavender and coconut oil for some reason her Misstress hated her. Amethyst was no stranger to to racism she knew prejudice when she saw it.  She couldn't feel the weight of her own hair anymore, tentatively, slowly she ran her hand across her head, where once laid shoulder length hair pulled into a bun. Now was a tiny curly afro, someone had lopped off her hair. She felt empty; the constant warmth of her hair provided was no longer there to soothe her. It was agonizing; her back felt like it was on fire, skin and flesh seared down to bone. It hurt to move, hurt to breath. It was agonizing. But Amethyst  clenched her jaw and grit her teeth, refusing to let any sound escape, refusing to let them know she was in pain, refusing to give them the satisfaction. She may be a slave, but she was not broken. Not even her own clan had broken her and neither would her new mistress.
 As the pain in her back dulled, she let her senses take over. She was lying on her stomach, the surface beneath her hard and cold, a sharp contrast to her back. Something cool was locked in place around her neck, wrists, and ankles. A collar. Shackles. And suddenly, with startling clarity, Amethyst  realized that the burning pain in her back was a brand. She hadn’t just been sold. She was branded as a plaything in essence she was a pet.
Fury coiled in her gut and rage bubbled up her throat. Not even her own blood stooped to  something so cruel even if she was viewed as worthless scars on the back was a warriors shame. Even though she was beat upon they never once marked her back out of honor.
Amethyst cried, tears burred her eyes, tightly clamped lips cut off any noise trying to make its way out. She had read stories about this; that some people marked their property like animals.  She’d always thought it odd that she never heard to clan brag about offing such ones where in the grand hall of history she has read about such ones. Back in the day her clan hunted such ones down.  So why was these people permitted to do such a thing to her, why were they able to keep breathing?  Amethyst had her answer now. And it sickened her greatly . Their lives were spared  because her clan fell so far from honour and grace that their love of money and possible fame made it so that they supported this disgusting practice.  The only reason why her clan was so know now wasn't because if their Legacy. NO they were in the back pocket of the government pretending to be honorable.
Amethyst  was pulled out of her thoughts when cool air brushed over the wound on her back. Her eyes snapped open of their own accord and she was met with the sight of a older boy. A very, very tall boy. He was thin, startlingly so, but his face somehow still held the roundness of a child’s. Maybe 15 no older then 17 He had big, grey eyes, a large scar across his nose, and a mop of black hair. He wore nothing but a pair of worn and ragged pants, no shirt, no shoes. His wrists and ankles had thick black shackles, but the collar around his neck showed his strength a first classes high tech quirj collar Amethyst  didn’t need to see his back.
This teen was a slave and very powerful.
Her eyes flitted around the room they were in. Or rather, the cell. It was medium sized, the floor, ceiling and three of the walls made of cold, unforgiving stone. The fourth wall was made of metal bars. Amethyst saw a hallway possibly the way out. She could see another cell across from their and what looked to be a storage room might hold supplies.
Her vision was obscured by another face in front of her's. “So,” he drawls from her eft in the darkness of the cell, and Amethyst freezes, “Awake finally. Your very interesting, little one I heard the guards say your quirkless yet I noticed your eyes flash. Shhhh... your okay there is no need to panic they haven't seen it. You've been here about a few months this is first time you've stayed awake though. I'm glad your alright.”
 Months? Amethyst doesn't remember that only the first day of meeting and possibly a few hours after that. So she's been here longer than what she thought, Amethyst thinks it would be best not to answer him however he was the only one here with her. Company would be nice maybe since he been here longer he knew things. She licked her lip once twice then and third time befor clearing her throat. "I'm Amethyst." She rasping out.
"Pleasure to meet you, I'm Hatsuharu though I go by Haru. My friends call me dark Haru as a joke because of my quirk. It's void and sentinel my quirk gives damage boosts to my allies, but it draws my opponents attention and focus AWAY from my allies and towards the user, allowing for the perfect distraction! Because it's basically a taunting quirk, a defensive abilities activated. The cold air you felt on you when you first woke was me using my quirk on you, I've been here for a long time wearing these, I've kinda grown a somewhat immunity to the quirk suppressors. I'll help you out anyway I can."
"Why? What’s in it for you?”
This one was different then the other slaves that came through here. Haru could see that he knew the quirkless was treated like dirt less than everything hell trash was viewed better. Amethyst read him the way he’s standing, searching for any weaknesses, searching for any hint of ill meaning. And maybe a better word would be analyzing. This girl wasn’t just reading him. She was completely analyzing him, and she was about as ready as one can be to jump out if Haru would make any sudden movement. Despite hurt she could still fight.
“Nothing.” Haru shrugged.
“Impossible. No one offers without expecting something back.”
"I've heard what they have in store for you once you come of age I want to help you. But I'm gonna need your help too, i need to get home. They think your quirkless you might be a late bloomer or possible a rare case of a forced quirk mutation from all the hardships. Your quirkless so I know your life hasn't been easy. I'll watch out for you and you do the same for me. With them thinking your quirkless they'll underestimate you."
 For a few seconds, silence falls in the cell again, and then the same voice replies in dry, almost flippant tones, “Your underweight tiny but a fighter i can tell just looking at, youve probably foiled everyone. But not me before becoming a slave i was a vigilante."
Wait he said Months didn't he?
Amethyst  had to concentrate on breathing for a minute, in and out, in and out, until the strange tangle of panic and grief that hits her out of nowhere fades again.
“Haru,” She eventually croaks out. She pauses, then forces out, “How… many months … has it been?”
“Not sure exactly,” Her cellmate - Haru - answers easily. “I think we get fed once a day, but I didn’t know that at first so I didn’t bother counting, and I’ve probably missed a few days here and there. As close as I can tell though, it’s been almost  six months since they stashed you in here with me, give or take. If you were in a different cell before, I wouldn’t know.”
Six month. Six months . Six-
“Hey, calm down,” Haru cuts in, and for the first time, something sharp enters his voice. “If the guards see you throwing a fit, they’ll gas us unconscious. And that’s all they’ll do if we’re lucky,
but considering the fact that we’re here at all, luck screwed us over a long time ago.”
Amethyst drags in a shaky breath that rattles down her throat and feels like it gets stuck somewhere in her chest. She does it again and again until she regains a thin veneer of calm that at least allows her to think. The muscles in her back burn with each breath.
Six months. In a way, it feels like it’s been even longer than that. But, she thinks, some part of her still clung to the hope that it hasn’t been months, maybe days at most, and…
(And she promised herself, deep down, that if she ever got out her family would pay back for everything in tenthfold every scar, the abuse the hardships. Everything. She'll grow stronger she'll get as far from America as she could, she'll make a name for herself she'll live and maybe find someone who will love her.  And live her life to the fullest.
She knew what it sounded like, a fairy tale, and she learned a long time ago that there’s no such thing in real life, so she knows full well that if a life of comfort full of love and happiness and a family of her own is what she wanted she'll have to put in the blood, sweat and tears.)
She lies there in the darkness for a while, just… digesting everything, and her cellmate doesn’t interrupt. Her thoughts turn to Haru which is an easier subject to focus on than how much time she's lost. Older than her, and strong by the looks of.  Smarter than her. Skilled too.
“You said… since they put me in here with you,” she frowns. “How long… have you been here?”
Haru hums, and there’s a note of surprise in the sound, like he didn’t expect her  to pick up on that, or maybe to ask about it at all. “Dunno. Like I said, I didn’t count at first. I had no way to tell morning or night my eyes were covered at first for weeks. But maybe three years or so? Had the cell all to myself back then. My will was stronger back then I broke out a few times too each time I did I was caught and drugged till they had enough they broke both my legs and put this high end collar on me. I stopped trying after.
“How old are you?” she asks abruptly.
Haru doesn’t answer right away, and when he does he looks sad. "I had just turned 16 when I was captured. I was out on patrol with a buddy of mine. We heard of kids being taken of the streets so I was watching over the children who walks home I kept everyone safe except myself."
“I’m fairly certain that you did your best if your the only one who ended up here.” Amethyst explained.
“True as that maybe i still shouldn't have been taken,” Haru volleys back without missing a beat, and Amethyst sighs and lets the matter drop.
“Why are you in here?” He asks instead. “how old are? I can't till your very short.”
"I'm here as payment, a life for a life, my family are hired assassin's someone murder the wrong person. Normally the guilty person gives their life however the monarch of my family gave me in their place. As for my page if I really been out for weeks then I just turned eight years old.
Thank you so much for your help my lovely friends.

The first chapter of Why Does Fire Burn? now on Tumblr
There are spelling and grammar mistakes but enjoy anyway.
 “Shoto wake your ass up,” Dabi yelled at his little brother, banging on the door.
    “Screw off,” Shoto muttered back, hiding his face in his pillow. The morning was too evil to wake for. Then there was a quieter, much more gentle knock.
    “Come on, Shoto,” Fuyumi said, opening the door and walking in, “You have the entrance exam today. You don’t want to be late.”
    He groaned but got up when Fuyumi ran a hand through his hair. Shoto got dressed in his school uniform after his sister left and then came out for breakfast.
    Fuyumi was making eggs, bacon, and rice, and Dabi was scrolling through his phone at the table. Shouto sat down next to him, and without looking, his older brother messed up his hair in a playful manner.
    “Stop it,” he says, hitting at his hand. Dabi smirks and puts his phone down. Fuyumi, bless her soul, placed our plates in front of them, and they began eating.
    “Natsu’s coming home tonight for dinner,” their sister said halfway through.
    “Cool,” the youngest said with his mouth full of food.
    “What do you guys want for dinner?” she asked.
    “Soba,” Shoto said.
    “Was that even a question?” Dabi asked.
    Soon it’s time for Shoto to go. Dabi and Fuyumi were watching as Shoto put his shoes and jacket on.
    “You’re going to do great,” Fuyumi reassured, straightening her brother's jacket, “And if not, it’s okay. We’ll find something else. Don’t worry.”
    “I’m not worried,” he said.
    “She was talking to herself,” Dabi said. Fuyumi then smacked his shoulder.
    “Come to the shop after the exam,” Dabi said.
    “Got it,” Shoto said before opening the door, “Bye,” he said, stepping out of our apartment. Shoto sucked in a breath and said, “Let's do this.”
    XXX
Shoto Yukitomo was 15 years old when he went to take the UA entrance exam. He had almost blinding snow-white hair that was long but didn’t go past his neck. He had mismatched heterochromia eyes. One stark gray, and other burning turquoise. Over his left eye was a large burn scar. His papers said that his Quirk was named Cryokinesis. It allowed him to control the ice he made.
    Yukitomo did well in the exam. Using his ice to freeze robots before they could strike him. In the end, he had close to 78 points. But then the ground began to shake and rumble. And then there was the faux villain worth 0 points. He made a massive ice wall. Stopping the thing in its path.
    XXX
After the exam was over, Shoto headed to Dabi’s shop. Dabi ran a tattoo parlor called Cremation Ink. It was a pretty good size and had a nice setup. Music was always playing, and the place was warm and bright. It smelled like ink, burnt wood, and coffee. Dabi seemed to really love running the place, but the business could be slow sometimes. Dabi had to work a part-time job at the record store down the street just to make sure that he could run this place and keep the apartment the siblings lived in. Sure Fuyumi worked too, but, a preschool teacher doesn’t make all that much.
    Shoto walked in and heard the sound so the old American bands Dabi liked to play. Along with that was a buzzing noise that came from a tattoo gun. Shoto walked in further and saw that my brother was in the middle of work.
    Knowing it to be a while before they’d go, Shoto moved over to the large leather couch back at the front of the shop and pulled out his book and read. An hour and a half later, the two come in the front of the store. The customer was a guy with a bright blue mohawk with the sides of his head shaved. The tattoo he had gotten was of a blue dragon running down his arm.
    “You sure you like it?” Dabi asked as they reached the door.
    “Man, I freaking love it,” the guys said, “It’s sick as fuck.”
    “I’m glad,” Dabi said, “So, you’re good with me putting it on my site, social media pages, right?”
    “Yeah, man, go nuts.”
    “Alright, come back soon,” Dabi said, holding the door open for the other guy.
    “Will do Dabi,” the guy said before leaving.
    “How was your day?” Shoto asked, not looking up.
    “Fine, yours?”
    “Fine,” he said, “You talking to that guy you met last month?”
    “Don’t,” his brother warned, walking towards the back.
    “What?”
    “Shoto, I am serious.”
    “Is that hard for you?”
    “Do you want to die brat?” he asked, “Because I can make that happen.”
    “You wouldn’t hurt me. Fuyumi won’t let you,” Shoto said, eyes still glued to the pages.
    It’s another half an hour before the brothers lock up and head home. On their way back to the small apartment, Dabi asked,” So how was it?”
    “Fine, I guess,” the white-haired boy said.
The two brothers couldn’t look more different as they walked down the street. Dabi was a good couple inches taller even though he has been on the short side most of the time. Shoto was tall, too, but not his brother’s height. Shoto had snow-white hair, and Dabi had jet black. Both of them had pale skin, but Dabi’s arms and torso were covered in ink. Images of flames, snowflakes and monsters, flowers, and other symbols. His ears and nose were pierced in several places.
When they got home, they found that their other two siblings were back. Fuyumi was working on dinner, and Natsuo was in the living room, TV blaring. Shoto plopped down next to his older brother, and Natsuo ruffled his hair.
“Hey, Sho, how the exam?” he asked.
“Good, I think.”
“I’m going to go look over some calls,” Dabi said, shrugging his jacket off.
“Then you go and shower,” Fuyumi said, “You too, Shoto.”
Shouto just sat, leaning against his other brother as they watched the news. For a split second, the was flash of the number two hero on the screen, but before anything on the TV could be said, the channel was changed to a volleyball game that was on.
“Who the hell used all my shampoo?” Shoto asked, coming out of the bathroom, shaking the empty bottle.
“Shouto,” Fuyumi said, “You use too much of it.”
“No, I don’t,” he said.
“Yes, you do. And so does Natsu.”
“Leave me out of this,” the older boy said.
“Did you use it?” Shoto asked.
“ I will not confirm or deny anything.”
Shoto threw the empty bottle at his brother, but Natsuo caught it. Shoto growled.
Later Dabi came out of the shower, and they ate dinner. The four siblings talked about their day. Dabi spoke about people who went into the shop. Fuyumi shared stories about her class. Natsuo talked about his professors and classes. And Shoto talked about his entrance exam.
“They made you fight robots?” Natsu asked.
“Yep.”
“Huh, well that something.”
“Speaking of school,” Dabi said, “Have you picked a major?”
“Well, I was thinking maybe physical therapy,” Natsuo said, “You know so I can help people.”
“I think that’s a wonderful idea,” Fuyumi said, smiling.
As they got more into the meal, Shoto’s brows knitted together for a moment. “What am I going to do if I don’t get into UA?” his tone wasn’t one of despair or dread. It was one born out of pure curiosity.
All three of his siblings looked at him for a moment and thought. What would Shoto do?
“You become a hoodlum like your brother,” Natsu tested. Dabi hit him up the back of the head.
“Ow!”
“Don’t worry, Shoto,” Fuyumi said, resting her hand on top of her brothers, “If UA doesn’t work, we could find another hero school. Or we can find something else for you to do if you want. We just want you to be happy.”
“Thanks,” Shoto said.
         If you were to look at Yukitomo siblings, you would see that they were closer than anything. That they were loyal and relied on each other. The neighbors thought they were all delightful children. They truly didn’t deserve what happened to them. It was horrible luck for such sweet children. To have their father horribly, painfully killed in a home invasion, which left poor Shoto scared, and their mother insane. Poor Dabi had been tasked with keeping all of his siblings safe at such a young age. All four of them worked so hard to stay together. Truly lovely children, with terrible luck.
After dinner, the four cleaned up dinner and sat in the living room and watched action movies.
XXX
Later that night, while the younger two of the siblings were asleep, Fuyumi and Dabi stayed up talking.
“I’m get worried,” Fuyumi said, pacing the kitchen floor, “We’re running out of money. I’ve been looking over the bills and checks, and we only have enough for maybe the first third of the year. And we can’t just have Shoto and Natsuo go out and get jobs with them both going to school,” she ran a hand threw her long white hair.
Dabi didn’t want to say it out loud, but he was getting worried too. She was right. Money was growing thin, and their brothers couldn’t get jobs like they did. Natsuo would be in college, and Shoto was going to going to a hero school of all things. He wasn’t going to put the stress of getting a job on them.
“Yumi,” he said after a minute, his voice sounding more confident than he felt, “Don’t worry. I have a bunch of appointments scheduled over these next few months. It will be more than enough.”
“But will it?” She asked, worried, “Dabi, you know how hard it is to support all of us. You know sometimes, a fully booked month is hardly enough.”
“Relax,” he told her, “I have a plan if things start getting bumpy.”
“What?!” she cried a little too loud. She had stopped pacing, “Join a gang and sell drugs? Rob a bank? Sell off all of our things?”
“No,” he said, trying not to get upset with her worry. She was much more open with emotion in times of stress when it was just them.
“Then what?” she asked, “And if you say Taijo, I swear to the gods-”
“I promise it’s not Taijo,” he whispered, “And keep your voice down, you’ll wake Natsu and Sho.”
“What is it then?” she asked, more softly, her hands shaking.
“We draw some cash from our funds,” Dabi said plainly.
“Touya!” Fuyumi cried before she was hushed. Dabi cringed at the sound of the name. It was strange and bitter after so long. Even though it was the dead of night there was no one else, but them were up, Dabi looked around. Checking to make sure no one heard. After a minute, he let out a sigh, and his shoulders dropped.
Dabi looked at his sister, and placed his hands on her shoulders carefully, “Yumi, listen to me. I know it’s risky, but we’ve gotten away with it before. No one knows they’re there, and no one will know that the money’s gone. And it is just a little bit. Just a little bit of cash, that’s ours anyway. We’ll wait for a few more months. And if the business at the shop keeps doing well, then we won’t. Please, Yumi, trust me on this.”
Fuyumi looked down at the ground. She was shaking a little bit, and tears were welling up in her eyes. She didn’t want to look at her brother. Her older brother, who always made sure she was safe and okay. Who would hold her when she cried. Who took on all the problems Fuyumi couldn't figure out on her own. She felt weak next to him. Dabi pulled her in for a hug. She wrapped her arms around his neck and nodded.
“Okay,” she sobbed, “but only in a few months. Promise me.”
“Okay,” he said, rocking her, “I promise.”
“I’m sorry,” she cried, “I’m sorry I’m not stronger-”
“Fuyumi, you’re stronger than any of us,” Dabi said, in a gentle voice, “You do things that I never could. You handle all our finances, you cook and take care of us when we’re sick, you help Shoto and Natsuo with homework when the world knows I couldn’t have. You are so strong, Fuyumi. I never want you to think otherwise.”
She nodded. For the longest time, Dabi just stood there holding his little sister. It was moments like this; they both remembered how much they need each other to get through things. How they had to work together to make sure their little brothers could have it better than they did.
 “It’s okay,” Dabi promised, “It’ll be okay, Yumi. Only five more years of the hard stuff. Five more years,” he whispered, kissing her forehead.
Five more years. Then they could finally make a move and not worry about as much about losing each other.
XXX
(Two Weeks Later)
Two weeks later, the four Yukitomo siblings were in the kitchen. Fuyumi was grading some papers, and Dabi and Natsuo were talking about work and school. Shoto was looking through the mail. There were six pieces of it. Three of them were bills. One was a postcard from one of Fuyumi’s friends. The other was a magazine. Finally, there was a letter to Shoto. From UA.
Shoto slowly opened it without saying anything. Then a small dice dropped out. Then a holographic image popped out of All Might. The other siblings turn their heads, and their jaws dropped.
They all sat and listen to the results. In the end, tears ran down the siblings' faces, and there was the tightest group hug of their lives. They all smiled and laughed for a good long while. Once all the crying and laughing stopped, and they all let go of each other, Shoto said, “I’m going to UA.”
“Yeah, kiddo,” Dabi said, hugging him, “You are.”
Shoto was going to UA, and he was going to be a hero. A hero who helps people, like his siblings, helped him, and he was going to a better hero than he ever was.

The Lucio Incident
How Ren recieved his scars and ultimately made a lifelong enemy...
Warnings for blood, child abuse, another long post, and casting Lucio in a very negative light...
~
It had been a cool, spring evening. There wasn't much for Jazmine and I to do at the shop. Our chores had been finished early, and Ilana had all but kicked us out the door after our lessons. So, true to our nature, we went to the docks. It was a perfect night for stories.
Jazmine had a small group around her fire, dramatically walking about as she told the tale of Elaena Drake, the fierce warrior queen who became a dragon king, and the the figurehead of the Dragons of the West. It was one of her favorite stories, as well as mine. But, there were a lot of children tonight, and I couldn't bring myself to come close to listen.
I was staying back, out of the light, and away from the still bustling docks themselves. I recognized a few friendly faces, Asra's fluffy white hair just visible past the shadow that Muriel cast over them. I knew with Asra and Muriel present, the less savory kids wouldn't go anywhere near Min. I could relax if I could just shake the anxiety that was screaming at me to not let my guard down.
This evening's lessons had been over divination, specifically runes. And with my luck, I drew Thurisaz to carry me through the day. Forces of evil, a warning, threats from people of power, omens of physical harm. A thorn that could protect or cause harm. It had been in the back of my mind for hours. We were at the docks, so I shouldn't worry about anyone in power aside from the Palace guards. As for the forces of evil...They were ever present. But I wasn't worried for myself, and Min had her protection charms. My anxiety just wouldn't let it be.
I found myself at the edge of the sea, my boots discarded and up to my ankles in the cool water. The moon was starting to rise, and I could just hear the sound of Jazmine's voice over the waves. For a moment, my mind wandered. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath of the salty air, trying to find a place of calm. The day was almost over, I didn't have to worry. That rune can also mean luck. Maybe it was just meant to be a good day.
When I opened my eyes again, a figure was standing in front of me, waist deep in the swaying water. When had I walked this far out? How did they get here? The golden eyes of the wolf-headed figure glinted in the moonlight as they regarded me. Their expression gave nothing away, just cold indifference. Their deep violet tunic moved with the sea, making it appear as if they were moving closer. And maybe they were. The distance between us seemed to shorten; the figure was close enough now that I could smell the saltwater in their fur.
Their head tilted to the side, and for a moment, I thought they were going to speak. Instead, they let forth an echoing howl, which melded into Jazmine's scream. I whipped around, my feet already carrying me up the beach, dispelling the Moon's illusion.
In the firelight, I could see Jazmine suspended in the air by her shirt collar. Asra was on the ground, disoriented. Muriel attempted to rush at the man holding Jazmine, who I now recognized as Vesuvia's new count. The Count knocked Muriel to the ground, kicking up sand beside Asra. The other children scattered down the alleys of the docks.
Jazmine was squirming and trying to kick at the Count, but the grip of his alchemical arm was too strong for her to break.
"Who told you those stories? Tell me!"
I jumped over the fire, running at the man. "Leave her alone!"
"Ren!"
"Oh, I see how it is. You need one of your fellow street rats to stick up for you, hmm?" He threw Jazmine hard enough that I could hear her teeth rattle when she hit the ground.
I stood between the three of them and the Count. "I said leave them alone!"
"And I said I want to know who told her those stories, brat!" He tried to move me out of his way to get to Jazmine, who was being pulled away by Asra as Muriel stood guard right behind me.
I ducked under his arm and grabbed his cape, swinging around him to knock him off balance. He started to lose his footing, dragging me down with him.
"Ren, no!" Jazmine tried to come towards us, but Muriel stopped her. She had been trying to reach for my shirt sleeve, but I had already danced out of her way. If this so called Count was willing to hurt children, then he deserved to be wrapped in his bloody cloak and knocked down at the very least.
In my haste to protect Min and the others, I didn't see the clawed gauntlet until it sparked in the firelight. I crashed hard into the sand, Jazmine breaking free from Muriel and coming to my side.
"Who do you think you are? You urchin! Don't you dare touch me! Do you know who I am? I'm your Count!" The man huffed, throwing his cape back over his shoulder and attempting to smooth out his ruffled hair.
If I hadn't been in such a state of shock, I might have laughed at his resemblance to a perturbed cockatiel.
I gingerly touched the bleeding wounds on my face, pulling back to see the red on my fingers. I stared at them for a moment, before clenching them into a fist.
"Oh, no."
I barely heard Jazmine's concerned whisper as I glanced around to see looks of fear, or was it hesitation, on Asra and Muriel's faces. I rose carefully, deliberately meeting eyes with the Count. My vision was going fuzzy in my left eye, but is was nothing that Ilana couldn't fix.
"You're no Count of mine." I spat a mouthful of blood at his feet, the bright scarlet shining in the moonlight. The look of pure disgust on his face was worth it, but I wasn't done yet. "You will leave this place. Leave us, here and now, with no memory of what occurred." I could feel my magic swirling in my clenched hands. "Forget our faces and our words. Go!"
The magic I had gathered flew from my palms and into his chest, physically pushing the Count back. His eyes became glossy and confused.
Jazmine gripped my arm tight. "Run!"
She dragged me over the dunes into a side alley, while Asra and Muriel raced out of our sights. I slumped against the cold wall, suddenly exhausted.
Jazmine grabbed a rag from her pocket, handing it to me as she watched the Count flit up the street, stumbling every few steps like he was drunk. Once he was out of sight, she turned on me.
"What were you thinking?! Are you as insane as you are stupid?" Her hands were on her hips, emerald fire in her eyes. They softened somewhat when she caught me wincing as I dabbed the blood from my face.
"I didn't want you to get hurt...or them. I couldn't care less if he hurt me, but you? Asra and Muriel? I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself." I couldn't meet her eyes. I knew it was stupid. But the fear that had taken a hold of me when the Count had her in the air was not something I wanted to feel ever again.
She sighed heavily, taking the cloth from me to finish cleaning my wounds. "You know these will scar, right? Ilana won't be able to prevent that... And that curse? You know he will remember soon enough. At least your face."
"I know..." I slowly got to my feet. "But at least you guys will be safe for a while. My curses only backfire on me." The excursion was starting to get to me. I shouldn't have risked such a trick when I was already exhausted.
Jazmine slung my arm over her shoulder, supporting most of my frame.
"Come on hero, let's go home. We can come up with a story to tell Ilana on the way." She couldn't suppress a laugh. Coming up with an excuse was her favorite thing to do when we knew we were going to get in trouble.
"As tempting as that sounds, she already knows what happened." I pointed to the mouth of the alley. Fenrir's golden eye was already glaring at us dissapprovingly.
"Well, we're in for it now..."
The shaggy dog huffed, and turned to escort us back to the shop.
~
Though Ilana healed my wounds, scolding Jazmine and I the entire time, there wasn't much she could do about the magical side-effects. My left eye was now a sharp seafoam green. The trio of scars didn't fade as the days passed either. The vision in that eye was off, but colors seemed more brilliant, and the shadows of auras extended well past what I had once been able to see.
The final unintentional side-effect of our incident with the Count took me much longer to realize. Asra and Muriel weren't the same towards us. It had taken months for them to even begin talking to us, once Jazmine began telling my stories. Now the two stayed as far away as possible, while still in range to hear. Muriel watched me with suspicious eyes, and Asra didn't even look at me.
At first I thought I had scared them with my curse. But, after some time, I realized that wasn't the case. They didn't know who I was, and by extension, Jazmine. It was upsetting, but at the same time, a relief. When my curse finally backfired, like I knew it inevitably would, they wouldn't face the Count's wrath at my expense...
And there it is, the story of Ren's most prominent scars, and his beginnings with bad curse casting...

Gem Ascension Tropes (Chartreuse Diamond-specific: P - Y)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Primary General Post ✰ Full Article ✰  Primary Peri Post ✰ Primary CD Post
Power Crystal: Like Peridot, her diamond rests on her forehead, centered within the peridot gemstone it emerged from. Both gemstones are essential to Chartreuse’s livelihood and is the source of the great power she wields.
Power Dyes Your Hair: Just slightly; the tips of her pigtails have a neon green gradient that fades into her traditional color.
Power Floats: Since she’s way smaller than her fellow Diamonds, Chartreuse can make better use of this ability to get around and doesn’t need a metal platform to do this anymore.
Power Makes Your Hair Grow: As large as her Mega Twintails are, this is definitely the case.
Power Makes Your Voice Deep: It’s noted in the narrative that her voice is similar to Peridot’s, but lower-pitched.
The Power of Hate: This originally stemmed from Peridot in Chapter 6 of Act III when she’s triggered by seeing (the presumed) White Diamond’s neck and has a raging desire to get back at her for how exactly she got Tricked to Death. While Peridot’s capable of summoning an energy blade similar to what White used on her, she’s not nearly strong enough to even make a scratch on White Diamond. Much to her disgust, she has to become Chartreuse in order to truly damage her foe. By adopting Peridot’s Ax-Crazy mentality, Chartreuse does quite a number on White’s neck.
Razor Wind: Already conjured by Peridot’s Heroic BSoD, shifting into Chartreuse during this only makes this a more lethal byproduct of her never-ending crying. This variant tears Homeworld’s atmosphere to shreds.
Reforged Into a Minion: She exists because Peridot had to be Left for Dead at the end of Act I, leaving her fully at White Diamond’s mercy. Granted, it took a long time for White to break her, but once she finally did, Chartreuse is the end result of this trope.
Regretful Traitor: Just as Chartreuse is starting to warm up to the idea of being a Diamond, the appearance of the Crystal Gems makes her regret the decision immediately. For a while, Chartreuse can’t bring herself to even admit to her friends that she’s Peridot, even if there wasn’t the constant threat of White Diamond hanging over them. Even though Peridot was heavily manipulated into becoming Chartreuse, it doesn’t make her any less ashamed that she submitted to White Diamond’s will at all.
Remember That You Trust Me: Reconstructed: A week of torture and mind manipulation has caused Peridot (and Chartreuse, by extension) to realize not only the full extent of her Dark and Troubled Past, but her origins when she’s revealed by White Diamond to be an Unwitting Test Subject. When the Crystal Gems come to her rescue after she had given up hope on them ever returning, Peridot has become Chartreuse and immediately feels conflicted about what to do. At first, she feels unworthy of reuniting with her friends; Chartreuse regards her very identity as a betrayal of the highest degree. The Crystal Gems’ unfriendly reactions towards her (none knowing she’s Peridot at this time) seem to reinforce Chartreuse’s paranoia that her friends would no longer trust her enough to take her back, even if she revealed her true identity on the spot. Thus, the perceived lack of faith of the Crystal Gems compel Chartreuse to actively become their adversary… until she critically wounds Garnet on accident. While she captures her friends on White Diamond’s orders regardless, Chartreuse is now uncertain of where she truly stands – especially when by this point, Steven has figured out who she truly is and didn’t actively shun her. Combined with White’s condescending attitude that finally makes Chartreuse realize the former never gave a damn about her, she’s compelled to return to the Crystal Gems regardless of what the rest of them might think of her perceived betrayal. Once she reunites with Steven alone, Chartreuse apologizes profusely. However, Steven doesn’t hesitate to help her out; he asks Chartreuse a poignant question that solidifies her alignment from that point forward.
Chartreuse Diamond: “I’ve been more afraid of everything, lately… I’m doubting myself at every turn. I don’t really feel like me, Steven. And I gave you and everyone else so much grief because I’m so stupid and insecure and I don’t know why! Steven, I’m so sorry!”
(Steven, already embracing Chartreuse, pulls her towards him to get her attention.)
Steven: “Shh, shh. It’s gonna be alright, Peridot. Just relax for a bit, okay? I think I can help you. You trust me, right?”
Chartreuse Diamond: (smiling tearfully) “More than anyone I’ve ever known.”
Required Secondary Powers: Not powers, per se, but in order to be able to will something to happen or for something to exist, Chartreuse (and Peridot) needs to know what it is and mentally visualize it. This is Who I Am best represents this, as while Peridot is capable of teleportation, she needs to have an idea of where her destination is and visualize it. Before teleporting her group to Egypt, Steven shows coordinates and pictures to Peridot so she can accurately and precisely teleport herself and others to said destination. If she just learns the name of an obscure location without any additional information, she won’t be able to teleport there, as she has no concept of what direction to even go – let alone having a clue what her destination looks like.
Semantic Superpower
Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness: Downplayed when she’s introduced, as Chartreuse is going out of her way to not give her friends any hints that she’s really Peridot, and this trope one of her biggest identifiable traits. After giving up the charade, it starts to come back, although it’s still not quite as prevalent as it is when she’s Peridot.
Sexier Alter Ego: Peridot didn’t want to look like a scrawny brat anymore before she submitted to ascending, so it goes without saying she went out of her way to make sure her appearance as a Diamond would be a great departure from that.
Shadow Archetype: How Peridot perceives her Alter Ego before learning to accept her near the end of Act III.
She’s Got Legs: Didn’t have much to speak of as Peridot, which is probably why she made a point to have these when she ascended.
Showing Off the New Body: Before the Crystal Gems return, Chartreuse is relegated to guard duty. She quickly becomes bored and decides to indulge in her appearance that she had yet to fully see until now.
Something Only They Would Say: Very narrowly averts this regarding her default Catchphrase Insult…
Chartreuse Diamond: “Is anyone else inclined to try something stupid, or can we move on? You cl– clowns are really trying my patience, because I’m considering helping you!”
Starting a New Life: Before the Crystal Gems return, Chartreuse tries to cope with her new identity and being stuck on Homeworld for good this time by interpreting her situation like this. Especially now that she’s a Diamond, Peridot realizes she really can have a life on Homeworld that’s both distinct and better than her previous life. She even tries to use her powers to see if she can make fauna grow from the ground on Homeworld by making it rain for the first time ever.
Super Mode: Chartreuse Diamond is essentially this for Peridot.
Super-Powered Alter Ego: While Peridot has power, her limitations stemming from the low-caste, low-quality Era 2 gem she emerged as greatly limits her range of abilities. Chartreuse is only limited by her imagination and her comprehension of whatever she wants to will into existence. In other words, Chartreuse is superior to Peridot in absolutely every aspect.
Swiss Army Superpower: The nature of being a power charged by will means Chartreuse (and Peridot) has almost limitless possibilities for how to utilize it. So long as she knows what she’s trying to do with her power and can picture it in her mind, Chartreuse wields the most versatile power one could ever have.
Symbol Motif Clothing: While Chartreuse’s outfit is distinct from Peridot’s in many ways, it largely shares her color scheme and is only slightly more revealing than her base form’s ensemble. However, to represent Peridot’s resignation back to her original alignment by agreeing to become Chartreuse Diamond, the new outfit has a diamond motif with nary a star to be seen – a clear contrast to Peridot’s newly-earned stars that replaced her original diamond motif (which she thankfully retains post-ascension).
Teleportation: Chartreuse can do this with her willpower, so long as she knows about and can visualize the spot she wants to teleport herself (and/or others) to.
Mass Teleportation: Does this near the end of Act III with all of the Crystal Gems in the makeshift spacecraft made by Iridescent Diamond. One moment they’re hanging around just outside of Homeworld’s orbit (before it explodes, anyway); the next, they’re back on the beach on Earth in front of the temple.
Teleportation Rescue: In an inadvertent 2-step process, Chartreuse managed to free the other Crystal Gems who were imprisoned in White Diamond’s bubbles while White Diamond herself was preoccupied with Steven, replacing them with holograms while teleporting them in a hidden corner near the ceiling. Unbeknownst to her, Lion would soon arrive at that precise spot to relocate the Crystal Gems outside the palace and back to their spaceship.
Temporarily a Villain: Her base form is the Hero Protagonist; she acts as a direct enemy of the Crystal Gems for all of one chapter (Chapter 3, Act III), then her Heel Realization towards the end of said chapter turns her back to the side of good, regardless of whether she’s Peridot or Chartreuse.
Then Let Me Be Evil: Strongly considers this in Chapter 3 of Act III after enduring hateful (albeit mostly justified) anti-Diamond slander thrown at her by the Crystal Gems, as it further convinces her they’d never take her back even if she did reveal she was Peridot all along. However, after attacking Garnet brutally to shut her up (She Knew Too Much) and damaging her far beyond what she meant to inflict, she begins Cry Laughing over her actions (as well as her own stupidity for not realizing her Mismatched Eyes were a dead giveaway for her identity) and dispatches the rest of her friends in far less violent fashion, though still maintaining an antagonistic front. What shakes her out of this is the following report to White Diamond, where Chartreuse realizes despite her ascension that she’s still regarded the same way she was as Peridot, and White’s attitude towards her mirrors Yellow’s almost perfectly. When Chartreuse realizes nothing about her really changed, she fully defies the trope.
Thought-Controlled Power: The basic definition of Chartreuse and Peridot’s ascended powers. Unlike Peridot, Chartreuse’s potential is limited only by her own imagination and comprehension.
Trapped in Villainy: Genuinely believed even when the Crystal Gems returned that there was nothing she could do without being a traitor to somebody. Being properly paranoid that her friends wouldn’t take her back now that she was a Diamond, Chartreuse genuinely felt she had no choice but to be the Crystal Gems’ enemy.
Vapor Wear: How one can define Chartreuse’s skirt – it’s almost entirely translucent, so whatever its purpose is, it certainly isn’t to cover up what’s underneath (which thankfully just the bottom half of her leotard).
Walking Spoiler: The most prevalent one of the bunch, as Chartreuse has a much bigger role in GA than her fellow spoiler characters. Being the Hero Protagonist’s Alter Ego is sort of a big deal. Even her appearance is a giant spoiler, since her design is so heavily derived from Peridot’s (and shares the same gemstone, only with a diamond merged within it).
Who’s Laughing Now?: While it’s killing Chartreuse to hurt her friends, she has an easier time doing it to Lapis than anyone else. Lapis is the only one who evades her designated pitfall trap due to being able to fly. After mocking Chartreuse and calling her a clod (which Chartreuse herself nearly used before stopping herself moments earlier), it suddenly becomes much easier for Chartreuse to give Lapis a little torture by having Lapis forcibly sucked down into her prison. Chartreuse gladly watches Lapis fall into the abyss before delivering a parting line.
Chartreuse Diamond: “Who’s the clod, now?”
You Are What You Hate: Peridot has loathed the Diamonds since her Broken Pedestal moment with Yellow Diamond. Now she’s (partially) a Diamond herself as Chartreuse, and this is one of the leading causes of Peridot’s resentment of her Alter Ego.
You’re Insane!: Her reaction to White Diamond’s proposal to perform fusion with two Diamonds – something never done before that carries a high risk of wide-scale destruction should it fail.
Your Tradition is Not Mine: After White Diamond’s self-destruction, Chartreuse is adamant that she and Pink 2.0 will not found a new Diamond Authority for Era 3. They won’t be dictators, but rather teachers and guides to help all gems forge their own path. Which is fundamentally the opposite of what the Diamond Authority did.
Youthful Freckles: Gains these on her cheeks, despite not visibly having freckles as Peridot. Word of God gave her freckles deliberately to accentuate her youth despite her overall more mature appearance compared to Peridot’s.

Shadowlight Week 2019 Prompt: Hero AO3 | FF.Net
Operation: Gay Exceed
Summary: Frosch is tired of seeing Sting and Rogue constantly pining over each other. When he visits the Fairy Tail Guild and discovers Happy has managed what he can only dream of he begs to be told the secret. Time for Operation: Gay Exceed!
Previously -> Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Frosch tried to stare Lector down but he was tired and disappointed, so he left it at, “I can’t tell you.”
“What do you mean you can’t tell me?” Lector blinked in surprise, “We’re best friends aren’t we?”
Frosch nodded, he was about ready to cry. This wasn't how it was supposed to go at all, everyone was unhappy, and he'd gotten Happy involved without even talking to him. Scratch that he was going to cry.
“Hey, don’t cry!” Lector quickly moved to give Frosch a hug, “You don’t have to tell me anything, okay?”
“It’s not that!” Frosch wailed, “I made everything worse.”
Lector looked at him for a moment and groaned, “Frosch, I keep telling you to leave it alone. They’ll figure it out eventually.”
"I just want them to be happy," Frosch sniffled, and Lector hugged him again.
“I know,” Lector grabbed Frosch’s hand and pulled him gently towards Rogue’s room, “Come on, let’s go to bed. Things will look better in the morning.”
O-o
Sting had been hard at work in his office all morning. If there was one thing he hated about being a Guild Master, it was that there was always paperwork to get done. His mages were fairly responsible, he could only shudder at the amount of paperwork someone like Makarov had to deal with regularly.
He'd been thankful to see that both Rogue and Rufus had pitched in while he was gone, but there was a rather large pile still to be done, and today's batch hadn't even been delivered yet. Sting had just placed his head down on his desk for a brief rest when there was a knock on his door, and with a groan, he recognized Minerva's scent. She came in without waiting for his reply and dumped the daily delivery from the Magic Council on his desk.
“Never ends, huh?” Minerva stepped behind him and massaged his shoulders for a few glorious minutes. She slapped him on his back playfully and smirked, “There, now you can’t say I never did anything for ya.” She snorted and left him to his devices.
Sting sighed, momentarily refreshed by the massage and opened the container to see the new batch of papers that awaited his inspection. A brightly covered piece of paper caught his attention, and he looked at it first.
Apparently, the Magic Council was ordering a guild exchange to foster better relationships between the guilds after the Grand Magic Games. Sting groaned to himself, no way that was going to go well. He looked down the list to see who Sabertooth had been paired with, not at all surprised to see they had gotten Fairy Tail.
He might as well call Makarov to discuss who they would be sending, at least it was a change from the mounds of paperwork. He got out his lacrima and called the Fairy Tail Guild.
“This is the Fairy Tail Guild,” Sting could hear Mirajane Strauss’s voice clearly, “How can I help you? Oh, hello Master Sting!”
"Hey, Mira! Is Master Makarov around?" Sting fiddled with the ribbons on his sleeve as he waited for her response.
“Yes, he is!” Mira replied cheerfully, “I’ll go find him for you.”
“Thanks!”
Master Makarov appeared on the screen, the reddish hue on his cheeks and the slightly tipsy smile on his face letting Sting know the Fairy Tail Master had already begun drinking for the day, “Sting, my boy! How are you?”
“Just fine, sir. How about yourself?”
“Can’t complain, the brats have been quieter than usual,” Makarov replied, still smiling, “What’s this about?”
“I just received a notice from the Council that we have to do an exchange between our guilds for a few days,” Sting explained showing Makarov the bright yellow paper.
“Ah yes, must have missed that one,” Makarov coughed into his hand and Sting saw the piles of papers on the Master’s desk, how the man found anything in that mess Sting couldn’t even imagine.
“I assume you’ll want the dragon slayers?” Makarov asked.
“I hadn’t really thought about it, it might be good to get Minerva in with Erza and Lucy so they can resolve their differences, with maybe Yukino as a buffer,” Sting thought out loud, remembering how Minerva had behaved during the Games.
Sting thought it might be good to get Rogue to spend more time with Natsu since he seemed to harbor some dislike for the Fire Dragon Slayer, but he wasn't sure how it would pan out. Maybe if he asked for Gajeel as well? But Natsu and Gajeel were always fighting amongst themselves too. Ugh! Wendy? She might be able to keep Rogue and Natsu in line, that might be good for Frosch also, now that the little guy and Happy were a couple. Sting smiled thinking of how cute the Exceeds must look together.
“That’s a good idea, you might want to have them come to you though, Erza is more likely to play nice at another guild. Lucy would probably be fine either way, but to be honest, Minerva will get more support at Sabertooth than here, ” Makarov pointed out.
“That’s true,” Sting bit his lip, there went his plans unless he sent Rogue to Fairy Tail but he wouldn’t be able to go himself, he knew his presence would be required to make sure the situation with the female mages didn’t get out of hand. “I could send Rufus over with Orga, that way he and Gray could resolve their animosity.”
Makarov rubbed his chin thoughtfully for a few minutes, “There’s definitely no love lost between those two, I might have to send Natsu out on a job while they’re here though.”
Sting found the comment odd, but he supposed Natsu was pretty protective of his teammates and Gray and Rufus had not hit it off at all. "Oh speaking of Natsu I hear congratulations are in order."
Makarov laughed until tears ran down his face, “Yeah, it was a long time coming. How did you hear about it?”
“Frosch told us just last night, I have to admit I was a tad surprised that he and Happy hit it off so well, I always thought Happy liked Carla.”
"Happy?" Makarov seemed confused, and then a grin slowly widened on his face as if he'd been told the world's greatest joke. "You know what? Why don't we let those two have a chat, I'm sure they must miss each other, they were quite close when Frosch was here."
“Oh, that’s a great idea! I’ll go get Frosch,” Sting said eagerly, wanting to do something nice for Frosch since he’d seemed upset the previous night, plus the idea of the two Exceeds was just too cute.
“Lector, can you go find Frosch?” Sting asked of his Exceed, who’d been sitting watching the conversation with interest.
“Sure thing,” Lector set off in search of his friend, excited at the prospect of finding out more about whatever Frosch was up to.
Frosch had been sitting by the guild pool thinking about how he was going to pull his plan off considering how badly it had begun when Lector came to find him.
“Frosch, Sting wants you to come to his office,” Lector nudged his friend out of his thoughts.
Frosch looked up at Lector not quite knowing what to make of the Exceed’s expression.
"He's got Happy on the lacrima for you," Lector explained and grabbed his friend by the hand trying to urge him to hurry. Frosch got the message, and they both flew towards the guild master's office. He was both excited and dreading the talk he knew he'd have to have with Happy, but there was no denying he would need his help.
O-o
Happy had been sitting at his team's table getting ready to eat the fish Mira had just placed in front of him when he heard Master Makarov calling for him. There was something in the old man's voice that decidedly made him nervous, but he couldn't quite place what it was.
“Happy, you have a call on the lacrima from Sabertooth,” Master Makarov called out in what would seem to be a sweet old man voice to anyone who wasn’t aware that the guild master was incapable of such a tone.
With a sinking feeling Happy left his fish behind and began to fly up to the guild master’s office and that’s when the old man dropped his facade and showed his true evil colors. “Natsu, Gray, Erza and Lucy, I think you might be interested in this as well.”
Makarov could not contain his laughter any longer, and Happy sincerely hoped he choked on it. Still, he couldn't ignore an order from his Master, so with an even worse feeling than before he stoically made his way to the lacrima in the old man's office, his team following. He could almost feel the curiosity in their stares.
On the screen in front of him stood Frosch, and it didn’t take much for Happy to figure out that things had not gone the way Frosch had hoped. Happy put his head down for a moment expecting the worst. He took a deep breath and asked, “What happened?”
He didn't see anyone else in the office, so he assumed that unlike his guildmates and Master the Sabertooth master had a concept of privacy clearly lacking in the Fairy Tail Guild.
“Fro’s sorry!” Frosch began and burst into tears causing his team members to aww over him.
“What did you do?” Happy groaned, already getting the sense that this was going to go badly for him.
"Fro tried to tell Rogue what you said, but he wouldn't understand," Frosch started quietly, and then while looking down at Sting's desk, he added, "So Fro told him Happy was his boyfriend."
There was a tremendous burst of laughter behind Happy as his team reacted to Frosch's words, but Happy was not amused in any way.
"You told him what?!" Happy yelled and then instantly felt terrible when he saw it only made Frosch cry harder, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled, but you should have talked to me first. I never agreed to that, why didn't you say Lector?"
“I know!” Frosch wailed, “But Lector would never have gone along with it.”
“Frosch,” Happy whined, “I just got Carla to believe it was all a trick.”
"Let me get this straight, " Natsu spoke up, and Happy immediately knew he was doomed, "Are you trying to get Sting and Rogue together?"
Frosch nodded eagerly.
Once again a crowd of awww could be heard from Happy's team.
“Happy, you have to do this, your friend needs you,” Natsu appealed, excited by the prospect of getting his two friends together, “And it’s for a good cause.”
“Fairy Tail wizards don’t back away from a challenge just because it’s difficult or uncomfortable, plus you shouldn’t deny a friend,” Erza was quick to remind him.
“He looooooooooooooooooooooooooves you,“ Lucy couldn’t help but tease, and of course Happy could say nothing as his own words were used against him.
"Happy, if it weren't for you, Natsu and I would probably still be trying to kill each other," Gray reminded him, "If you can help do the same for them, I promise you I will get you the biggest fish I can find."
Happy turned around and looked at Gray and then at Natsu as they sat next to each other holding hands. He couldn’t help but smile at the two men, and he made his decision.
“Ugh, fine. Just remember your promise,” Happy finally responded, “What do I have to do?”
o-o
Lector walked away from behind the door having heard every word. He felt a bit bad that Frosch hadn't thought he'd go along with his ploy, but Lector had to admit that he probably wouldn't have. Frosch's heart was in the right place, but Lector just didn't think they should get involved in Sting and Rogue's affairs.
Lector did hope that things worked out the way that Frosch wanted, he knew Sting loved Rogue, but he also knew that his partner wasn't sure Rogue returned his feelings. Rogue was too good at hiding his emotions and sent out mixed signals at best. Lector knew the truth, of course, but Sting wasn't going to just take his word for it.
He did feel that things were going to come to a head soon, especially if the biggest obstacle to Rogue confessing his feelings was already involved in another relationship. Lector had never quite understood how Rogue had taken Sting’s admiration, and okay, hero worship of Natsu and turned it into romantic interest. He sighed, humans made everything so complicated.
He found Sting in the kitchen, as usual, snacking on some sweets Minerva had baked. Rogue had apparently taken a job early in the morning and was not expected to return until later in the day. Sting had been disappointed, but he was never one to mope or stay still for long. "Hey Lector, wanna go out for a walk or something?"
Lector agreed eagerly and the two of them, along with Yukino, went off for a walk around town.
O-o
“Wait, you’re saying that Rogue thinks that Sting has a thing for me?” Natsu laughed incredulously as they made their way to the Sabertooth guild, “That’s ridiculous!”
“Not so ridiculous, Flame-Brain, “ Gray confided, “I thought the same.”
“Seriously?”
Gray nodded sheepishly. Natsu laughed again but grabbed his boyfriend’s hand and squeezed it.
“The only thing Sting wants from me is a good fight,” Natsu assured Gray, “Do you have the paper from Gramps?”
“I thought you had it,” Gray shrugged his shoulders and looked to Erza who shook her head. They all looked at Lucy. “No one asked me to grab it,” she looked through the contents of her bag. “I have a paper,” she offered the paper to Erza who had Natsu lean forward as she used his back as a makeshift desk to write a message with the pen that Lucy had also found.
“What did you write?” Lucy asked.
“The message isn’t what’s important,” Erza reminded her, “How are you doing, Happy?”
“Just great,” Happy muttered already thinking of the teasing he was going to get from Lector.
“Okay remember, we all need to be on our best behavior,” Erza lectured, “Natsu and Gray, no fighting. Happy do whatever Frosch needs. Lucy, no matter what Minerva says or does, don’t take the bait.”
“What about you?” Natsu challenged, annoyed at her bossy tone.
Erza raised her eyebrows dangerously and countered, “What about me?”
“Relax, it’ll be fine,” Gray assured her, “You do realize this isn’t an actual mission, right?”
“Of course,” Erza asserted, “I just want everything to go well.”
They walked in silence for the next mile or so until Lucy pointed out a familiar figure walking ahead of them, “Hey, isn’t that Rogue?”
The group hurried to catch up with the dragon slayer who seemed not to have noticed their presence.
"Hey, Rogue!" They greeted the dragon slayer, but he didn't answer, seemingly lost in his own thoughts. He didn't acknowledge them in any way until Lucy tapped him on the shoulder. Rogue seemed startled by their presence but gave them a timid smile.
“Oh, hey,” He gave them a sparse wave, “What brings you here?”
“Master Makarov sent us with a message for Sting,” Erza explained smoothly, quickly waving the paper in Rogue’s face, “Are you headed back to Sabertooth? We’ll be glad for the company.”
"Yes, of course," Rogue bowed slightly, but he didn't seem enthused. They continued their walk dispensing pleasantries, but Rogue's attention seemed to be taken up with observing Happy.
Gray nudged Natsu and gave him a meaningful glance, Natsu looked at him confused, and when Gray started to whisper something in his ear, Natsu shook his head at him and pointed to Rogue's ears.
Gray nodded in understanding and put his arm around Natsu's shoulders, grabbing Natsu's arm and placing it around his waist. Natsu adjusted himself to Gray's pace, but Rogue wasn't paying any attention to them. They finally reached the Sabertooth guild hall and were about to make their way inside when Rogue reached out to Happy.
"Happy, can I talk to you for a moment?" Everyone waited outside, so Rogue added, "In private?"
Happy looked to Natsu for help, and the dragon slayer walked to his Exceed's side while the others went inside.
Rogue wanted to protest, but he knew if Natsu had singled Frosch out, he would have done the same, so he made no comment. Instead, he walked them over to where there were some benches and sat down, the other two joining him.
“Frosch told me you had gotten...closer during his visit, “ Rogue announced, “I just want to make sure that he doesn’t get hurt.”
Happy nodded, still looking a bit fearful even though Natsu was petting him. Rogue was thankful to see Natsu had chosen to stay silent instead of resorting to his usual brashness. He was surprised when Happy stood up from Natsu’s lap and walked the short distance over to him and climbed into his lap.
“I’d never hurt Frosch,” Happy said earnestly, looking into Rogue’s eyes, “He’s my friend.”
"Alright then, " Rogue smiled at the blue Exceed, and he petted his head gently, "I'll hold you to that."
He glanced over at Natsu who looked like he wanted to say something but when he remained silent Rogue got up and adjusted his clothes. “We should go inside.”
Natsu and Happy glanced at each other and followed Rogue inside.
O-o
"What are you guys doing here!" Sting greeted the Fairy Tail mages excitedly as they walked through the door. He'd thought he'd smelled Rogue and Natsu as well, but they were nowhere to be found, and that made him decidedly nervous.
Erza shoved a piece of paper in his hand and muttered something about Master Makarov sending them with a message. Sting opened the folded paper to see something scrawled in unreadable penmanship. He immediately recognized it as Erza's from the letter she'd sent them about Minerva right before Tartaros. He stared uncomprehendingly at Erza, who was trying to mouth something to him, but his attention was diverted by Natsu, Rogue and Happy entering the guild.
Sting searched their expressions, trying to figure out what had kept them outside, but nothing jumped out at him. He watched with interest as Natsu made his way over to Gray, who immediately wrapped his arms around the dragon slayer. He could hear Gray asking Natsu how it had gone and Natsu whispering something in his ear that made the ice mage laugh.
Sting shook his head and watched the two rivals again to make sure he wasn't seeing things. Natsu and Gray were a thing now? And Happy and Frosch? He quickly looked over to Erza and Lucy but didn't sense any change in their relationship at all.
Natsu leaned up and kissed Gray and Sting couldn't keep the grin off his face. He felt someone staring at him and caught Rogue's gaze. He gave his friend a tentative wave, and Rogue came over to him.
“Are you okay?” Rogue asked low enough only Sting would be able to hear.
Sting didn’t understand what he meant or why he sounded so concerned. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
Rogue gestured at Natsu and Gray who were still talking in the corner, their body language markedly changed since the last time he’d seen them. Sting followed his gaze and smiled, “Don’t they look happy?” Sting asked wistfully.
“You’re not upset?”
Sting snorted, "Of course not, to be honest, I'm more concerned as to why they're here." He showed Rogue the piece of paper Erza had handed him, and they both chuckled.
“I think maybe they just brought Happy over to see Frosch and needed an excuse.”
“Oh yeah, about that, I meant to ask you, are you okay?” Sting placed his hand on Rogue’s shoulder, “You didn’t seem very happy about it last night.”
“It was unexpected, but he looks happy doesn’t he?”
Sting agreed, and they both watched Frosch laugh as he talked to Happy, at one point giving him a big hug. The two Exceeds were as adorable together as Sting had imagined and he had to force himself to look away so he could focus on Rogue. Sting had never seen his friend ever look so sad before.
"You've still got me, you know,” Sting told him matter-of-factly.
“I know,” Rogue gazed at Sting, trying to hide his yearning behind banter, ”Can’t really remember a time you weren’t there.”
Sting smiled as he realized it was the same for him. “Can you imagine what Jiemma would have done if he’d caught two guys kissing in his guild?” Sting joked even as Rogue tensed up.
“Hey, what’s the matter?” Sting could almost feel the wall that Rogue had just put up between them.
“Nothing.”
There was something in Rogue’s voice that finally got through to Sting as nothing else had before. It was like the fog had been lifted from his eyes and he could finally see what had been in front of him all along.
He quickly began piecing things together, Rogue's animosity towards Natsu, his concern about how Sting would take the news that Natsu and Gray were a couple, even his lackluster response to Frosch's news. Not to mention all the things that Rogue did for him regularly. Seriously, who enjoys doing hours of paperwork?
Now that he realized all these things, Sting understood just how much of an idiot he’d been, pining for someone who had been broadcasting his feelings for him in his own way, all this time. He knew that part of it was due to the hostile environment they’d been forced to live in for so long, making them all terrified to show anything that might be considered a weakness, but they had managed to free themselves from those chains.
Sting knew there was a chance he was wrong, but he let the love and hope that filled the room fuel him into making a decision. He would give voice to his own feelings once and for all, and hope for the best. If he ended up being wrong, it would be embarrassing as hell, but he was confident that his and Rogue's friendship was strong enough to get past it.
"Rogue, Jiemma is gone, and he's never coming back," Sting reminded him, "We took him out, and now we can live our lives however we want. Just like them." He pointed at the Fairy Tail mages who were mingling with the other Sabertooth members, although it was obvious that there was still some tension remaining from the Games. "We've earned that right."
“What are you saying?”
“I’m just going to be honest,” Sting declared, too caught up in his words to notice the room had gone eerily quiet, “I’m not interested in Natsu, I never have been, at least not in that way.”
Sting gestured at Natsu and Gray who were standing hand in hand next to Orga, “I want to have what they have with you, and I’ve hoped for the longest time that you might feel the same way. But if I’m wrong then just tell me that, and we can get past it.”
“I’m just tired of this dance,” Sting revealed, “If two Exceeds can find their way to each other why can’t we?”
Sting looked at Rogue expectantly, and this time he did notice the quiet, his nerves became frayed even though he was getting many encouraging looks from his friends. He saw Frosch watching them with interest as he held on to both Happy and Lector's hands in nervous anticipation.
“I — it’s just a lot to take in all of a sudden,” Rogue replied, feeling uncomfortable being the center of attention. He realized he hadn’t answered the question when he saw Sting’s disappointed expression. He hurried to respond, “I — I do feel the same way.”
He was rewarded with the most beautiful smile he’d ever seen on Sting’s face.
"Well okay then, that wasn't so hard was it?" Sting teased, grabbing Rogue's hand in his and pulling him in for a hug. Rogue put his arms around Sting tentatively, they'd hugged plenty of times before but usually as a way to comfort the other, never just to feel each other's touch. It felt nice, like every nerve ending in his body was lighting up.
Rogue wanted to continue to touch, to feel Sting against him and it gave him an assertiveness he'd always been hesitant to express in anything other than a fight. Rogue moved his head away from Sting's shoulder and gazed into the face he'd loved for so many years. Rogue leaned forward, finally able to taste Sting's lips with his own. He could feel Sting smiling against his kiss and couldn't help but to respond in kind before parting.
There was much cheering as cries of Fucking finally were heard from many a Sabertooth mage. Frosch was jumping up and down and dragging Happy and Lector with him.
Minutes later booze was flowing from everyone's mugs as they celebrated. Sting raised his mug in a toast, "To Frosch, for having the courage to be himself and inspiring us to get our sorry asses in order!"
“Hear, hear!” Everyone cheered for Frosch and instead of making the Exceed proud, he burst into tears. Even though he was happy it had worked out the way he wanted, it made him feel uncomfortable that his actions had been based on a lie. Happy was quick to comfort him, understanding how he felt, although it hadn’t bothered him all that much.
“Frosch, what’s wrong?” Rogue asked worriedly.
“Fro lied!” Frosch wailed.
“What are you talking about?”
“Fro only likes Happy as a friend,” Frosch confessed, “Fro, only pretended to try to get Rogue and Sting together.”
“Where would you get that idea?” Rogue asked, even though he knew exactly where it had come from. He glared at Happy.
"I may have done something similar to Natsu," Happy confessed edging his way towards his dragon slayer, seeking protection from the rage he could see growing in Rogue's red eyes.
“Let it go,” Sting advised, “It all worked out in the end, I’m certainly not complaining about the results. As far as I’m concerned, Frosch and Happy are heroes!”
Frosch gazed up at Rogue, looking forlorn and the dragon slayer knew Sting was right. He’d save the lecture on lying for another day. He picked up his Exceed and gave him a big hug before whispering, “Thank you, Frosch.”
A/N: This was a really fun story to write, I hope you enjoyed it! I tend to try to avoid writing the Exceeds as much as possible, but they kind of grew on me in this one.

BnHA Chapter 116: Prison Chat
Previously on BnHA: We took a break from the U.A. kids and their provisional license exam antics and got a whole chapter from Twice’s point of view. He has a fucked up backstory which involves him cloning himself and then his clones all battling for dominance and murdering each other, and now it’s just him left and he’s not even sure if he’s the original. We also learned that Endeavor is not exactly winning people over as the new number one hero, and most people are either underwhelmed or openly creeped out by him. Meanwhile, emboldened villains feel increasingly comfortable committing petty crimes in broad daylight and teaming up now that All Might isn’t around. A new group of villains lead by a dude named Overhaul committed some light dismemberment and arson, and it looks like Twice is thinking about recruiting them to the League. Finally, we cut to a max security prison where All Might is apparently meeting with the imprisoned All for One to “settle things” omgggggggg.
Today on BnHA: All Might asks All for One about Tomura and about what he was planning. All for One is predictably unhelpful and says that Tomura is working on his own now. They have an admittedly fascinating discussion about why All for One decided to groom a successor after being injured by All Might. AFO then expertly provokes All Might by speculating about the chaotic state of the outside world with startling and annoying accuracy. He taunts All Might about being frustrated and powerless. All Might says he knows that AFO was planning to have Tomura kill both him and Deku. He says he won’t let that happen, and that no matter how many evil schemes AFO hatches, he will always be there to crush them. Back at the fanfic dorms, the kids of 1-A wind down as they excitedly await the start of the new semester. Bakugou comes up to Deku and tells him to meet him outside later and that “it’s about your quirk.”
(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’ve read up through chapter 151 now, so any ETAs will reflect that.
**There are spoilers in this recap for chapter 131, which has not yet aired in the anime.** These spoilers are tagged as always, but take heed.)
BAKUGOUUUUUUU
Tumblr media
“the noble beast of class 1-A” lol wtf
“Tartarus Greeting” isn’t that like the Greek hell
WE ONLY HAVE THREE MORE CHAPTERS LEFT IN THIS VOLUME FOR THIS BRAT TO GO CONFRONT DEKU ABOUT HIS QUIRK. GET A MOVE ON ALREADY BOY
but of course we’re opening right where we left off first. the prison with All Might and All for One. which I’m also pretty hyped for, so
All for One is complaining about the high level of security in this high security prison
apparently they’re monitoring his vitals, brain waves, etc. at all times, and if you so much as wiggle in your chair the wrong way, all the gun turrets in the place will point at you
still think he could escape in an instant if he wanted to. he probably has a bulletproof quirk. and we know he has a fucking warp quirk. he’s just biding his time
oh, apparently Tartarus is the name of the prison. also the prison is underground. or at least his part of it is underground. cuz it didn’t seem to be underground when we cut to the exterior of the building just a couple of panels ago
Tumblr media
is there any wood around, All Might. you should probably knock on some wood. fucking jinxed us all, dude
All for One’s only response is “let’s assume that to be the case.” fffff lol yeah okay
so he’s asking what does All Might want with him, where’s Gran Torino, why did All Might come alone, “what’s with that pitiful costume” -- and okay, with that last one though, so are you actually fucking blind or not. I know he doesn’t have eyes and he’s been using infrared and the like, but his scathing remarks about All Might’s appearance are always so on point and it’s like ???
(ETA: goddammit I wish I could just project this thought into Horikoshi’s mind. like he suddenly wakes up in a cold sweat and is all “THE PLOT HOLE. OMG. I FORGOT” and immediately goes to write one of his infamous bonus page ramblings to correct it. I mean, it’s an easy enough fix. he can make up some bullshit quirk to explain it easily enough. but just. it really bothers me for some reason, like way more than it should. fuck you, All for One)
Tumblr media
All Might really fucking hates All for One you guys. not gonna lie, pissed off is a good look for him
now he’s asking where Tomura is
All for One says he doesn’t know. “unlike you, I’ve already let my successor carry on”
now All Might’s asking him what he was trying to do. “what were you after?”
Tumblr media
okay but now that the immortality thing has been brought up, it reminds me that I’ve been wondering why would this basically immortal guy suddenly become so obsessed with molding a successor? to the extent where he said that everything he’d been doing was for Tomura’s sake. (although whether or not that’s true is a whole nother story)
All for One says it’s pointless to explain it because All Might would never be able to understand
and now he’s saying that he and All Might are the same. two sides of the same coin type of thing. “in the same way you aspired to be the hero of justice, I yearned to be the king of evil”
Tumblr media
when he says “live on eternally”, he’s talking about his legacy living on through Tomura, then? cuz idk, I still don’t buy it
and now All Might is also asking him “if that’s the case, why a successor?”
ah, he says it’s because of the injury All Might inflicted on him
Tumblr media
I really love the way the reflection is dividing this image between All Might and All for One’s faces. oh damn
and all right, I guess I can buy this explanation. but I still can’t see Tomura as having those final villain chops though. idk, I wouldn’t be surprised if All for One changes his mind, or manages to acquire a better healing quirk than his current one -- one which actually allows him to restore himself to his former glory -- and then he decides he wanted to carry on with the whole villain thing after all
someone over the speaker is telling All Might he only has three more minutes
and now All for One is like OH SHIT and he’s trying to think of all the other shit he wanted to say to him lol
he’s asking how the world is out there now that All Might’s retired
it’s like Order of the Phoenix, but not quite Half-Blood Prince, fyi
dude on the loudspeakers is warning All Might not to give him any info
All for One says “what a shame”
and now it looks like he’s going to speculate. and probably be bang on target too
Tumblr media
did you actually read the previous chapter yourself somehow or what
I wish All Might would stop gritting his teeth and clenching his fist and sweating in this way that just confirms every damn thing that All for One is saying
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ffffff he must be so frustrated though. he devoted his entire life to making a peaceful world and to see that all fall apart and to be helpless to do anything about it...
and of course All for One is making the exact same observation. :/ “I believe you will spend the rest of your life stricken by your powerlessness and inability to do anything”
fucking hell, can’t we just have one of these turrets suddenly tragically “malfunction” and end this dude already. someone please tell me why we’re keeping him alive. clearly he’s no good for information
he’s asking All Might how it feels
All Might, the best thing you could do right now would be to just stand up and walk out of the room. you’re not getting anything else out of him and right now he’s getting under your skin, and seeing you hurting over this is giving this fucker exactly what he wants
the loudspeaker voice is also telling All Might to back away
Tumblr media
I feel like he’s talking to me more than to All Might. about the “no hitting” part. yes that is indeed a shame
ooh, All Might’s gonna fire something back at him! GO TOSHI GO
he’s telling him not to presume that he knows everything. and he says he understands All for One’s thinking very well
oh shit
Tumblr media
okay so like. I really like when older mentor type characters mention their proteges like this and they’re like “that boy” or “that child” and it’s like a reminder of how young and vulnerable and inexperienced the protege character is still, and how the mentor character is always looking out for them. like. I just like that. maybe it’s that it makes me feel like I can bond with the mentor character over our mutual protectiveness of the kid
anyway. so All for One isn’t even denying it; he’s just like, “and?”
and All Might is just like
Tumblr media
dang. although once again I really wish that there was some wood nearby for you to knock on fffffffffffff
(ETA: ****SPOILER WARNING FOR CHAPTER 131, WHICH HAS NOT YET AIRED IN THE ANIME****
*
*
*
*
*
so not only is All Might saying “fuck you” to All for One here, but he’s also giving the middle finger to fate itself. and I have to admit, it’s incredibly badass, even if it also makes me more worried than ever about him jinxing it. you see, that’s the upside of sticking around to raise your successor, AFO. you get to be inspired by them in some unexpected ways.
also, All Might is very brave and very determined and I love him so much omg.
*
*
*
*
*
****END SPOILERS****)
and now the loudspeaker guy is telling All Might his time is up
All Might says that whatever future AFO is envisioning, All Might will always smash it no matter what, and AFO can spend the rest of his life sitting here and looking on
yeah bro. way to get the last fucking word in
now the doors are closing on All for One, and he’s laughing because of course he is
Tumblr media
oh fuck you, dude. this conversation has been amazing but I’m tired of you now lol
now we’re cutting to All Might riding home with his best bro Nao
Nao’s asking how it went and All Might’s like, yeah, it didn’t
!! he’s mentioning that he also talked with Stain?!
(ETA: Mangastream’s translation made it sound like he spoke with him, but Viz and Fallen Angels's versions said that he was making plans to question him but hadn’t actually done so yet. given that this hasn’t come up again yet -- at least not at the point where I’m currently at -- I’m guessing Viz and FA got it right. though I’m still curious as to what they actually want to talk to him about.)
but now he’s getting interrupted by his phone which is buzzing
AHHHHH HE GOT DEKU’S WHOLESOME TEXT
Tumblr media
All Might please charge your phone soon
HE EVEN HAS DEKU LISTED IN HIS CONTACTS AS “MIDORIYA-SHOUNEN” LMAO
HIS DAD FACE AT THE END OMG. HE REALLY NEEDED THIS RIGHT NOW
also it completely slipped my mind earlier, but he finally has his arm out of that cast. and apparently the hand is doing pretty well since he’s using it to text. good good
AHHHHH FINALLY WE’RE BACK AT THE U.A. DORMS
the kids are hanging out in the common area. Deku’s wondering if All Might got his text yet. he has this super cute proud little smile on his face
Tumblr media
I’m so happy for him
but I won’t pretend I’m not also preoccupied with how Bakugou is doing lol. like, he wasn’t one to hang out with the others much even before this, and now it’s probably going to be even less so, at least until their excitement at having all passed the exam dies down. I expect Shouto will be keeping to himself a little bit more for a while too
gasppppppppppp
Tumblr media
[FRANTICALLY CHECKING OWN PULSE BECAUSE I’M PRETTY SURE MY HEART JUST STOPPED]
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYYYYYY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Tumblr media
(((o(꒪ □ ꒪ )o)))
I’M FREAKING THE FUCK OUTTTTTTTTTTTT AHHHHHHHHHHH
 BONUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU GUYS!!!!!!!! HOW AM I EVEN SO EXCITED WHEN I FUCKING KNEW THIS WAS COMING?!?!?! I DON’T EVEN KNOW!!!!!
THE BONUS PAGE IS JUST KACCHAN AND HIS SQUAD ALONG WITH TETSUTETSU AND MONOMA FROM CLASS B FOR SOME REASON
ALSO THE GUY WHO WROTE THE VIGILANTES SPIN-OFF THINKS THAT TSUYU HAD A LIL TADPOLE TAIL UNTIL KINDERGARTEN!
Tumblr media
IT SAYS “NOTE: NOT CANON” BUT IT’S MY FUCKING CANON NOW DUDE
“AND I LIKE TSUYU” I FUCKING LIKE HER TOO OMG
BAKUGOU!!!! AND DEKU!!!! OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!! TALKING. ABOUT. QUIRKS
someone help me, I’m pretty sure if my apartment were to fucking catch fire right at this moment I’d still be reading and just ignoring it omggggg

Thoughts on She-ra
Just finished watching She-ra and the Princesses of Power today.  My overall feelings are positive.  I might consider doing a full blown review one day, but I have too much on my plate to do that.  So a list of pros, cons, and thoughts will have to do.  A clarification does need to be made before I write down the list:
I am pro-lgbt and believe in equality between men and women of all races.   That said, I will have opinions that may challenge your viewpoints and that is okay.  Great even.  Having different opinions does not make anybody enemies.  It is the refusal that there are opinions besides your own that animosity is born.  Now, onto the list.
Pro
The main cast of characters are likable and each have their character arcs (will get into those later). Design-wise, their outfits look great and I can imagine plenty of great cosplay to come from it.
Writing is not perfect, but is not awful overall.  There are no giant gaps of logic that make you go, “That doesn’t make sense.”
Main heroine, Adora, is a great character as she displays both weakness and strength that make sense of her character. There is still plenty to learn about her past as future seasons will likely dive into.
Bow is just a great support male lead.  He is written to be somebody who is in touch of his emotional side, and also show competency when the need rises.
Glimmer was somebody I thought I would find annoying because she was sort of a brat.  As the show went on, she slowly became one of my favorites as she eventually learns to be more mature.
The villains are great.  Not only are they as evil as I would hope the villains should be, but they also have a lot of depth to them.  Shadow Weaver is a great antagonist as she demonstrates an emotional obsession that is both dangerous to the heroes and the Horde.  Hordak is also really great despite his lack of screen time. But the best villain has to be...
Catra.  Catra is the best character hands down.  She goes through a character arc that absolutely steals the show for me.  Her design is great, her personality is perfect, and her relationship with Adora is filled with so much nuisance and depth that short summery isn’t enough to describe it.  If there is one character to love, it has to be Catra.
Con
The animation, I feel, could use with some improving, Certain action scenes have less impact to them as several characters and objects don’t have as fluid a flow to them as they are meant to.  I suspect budget or time restraints to be the cause of this, and any improvement will have to wait until the second season.
While the main characters are written well, the side characters (the princesses for example) are mostly bland or one note.  They aren’t bad, but they mostly depend on personality quirks rather than something more complicated. Entrapta and Scorpia started off seemingly to follow this path, but later episodes actually gave them more depth.  The Dragon Prince also suffered from having too many quirky characters being quirky during serious scenes.  The balance of levity is hard to master as most creators try to please a large range of viewers without alienating any of them.  Success is mixed, but later seasons always help that balance.
Glimmer’s mother, Queen Angella, is not a bad character, but she falls into an archetype that is sadly very predictable. The overprotective mother that wants to keep her daughter out of danger. While I sympathized with her more than Glimmer at first, her shtick kinda got old as she acted more motherly than queenly.  Makes me glad that she and Glimmer upgraded their relationship as I hope a season 2 will allow her to “spread her wings” as far as characterization goes.
Princess Frosta’s eleventh hour moment felt... unearned.  I feel like there should have been a scene of her talking with somebody that convinces her to aid the heroes and rejoin the alliance.  Last time we saw her, she was telling off Adora for being a rude guest and cementing her neutrality within the war.  After all that, why does she join them?  It is a plot hole that needs to be addressed.
This is something I imagine would tick off some people as it is about the canon lesbian couple, Netossa and Spinnerella.  Not because they are a same-sex couple.  No, that is great.  What isn’t great is that they are given the worst screen time out of all the princesses.  They don’t even get any lines or characterization other than “And then there is those two.” until the final episode of the season with powers that would have great to have around during the Best Friend Squad’s previous adventures.  Even their relationship wasn’t made clear until their proper introduction.  I think they might’ve been mentioned during the Prom episode, but by that point, they were mostly forgotten already.  Season 2 will need to do better to include them more often so it doesn’t feel like they are just background characters.
Related Thoughts
It is a pain but it would be ignorant to not point out the controversy that bloated to the point where it’ll make an inflation fetishist blush. So, yes, most of the female characters in this cartoon are super flat.  For the many teen characters, this isn’t a big deal, but it becomes odd when all the adult women are depicted in the same way.  Especially the motherly Queen Angella who people would expect to have breasts after childbirth and rearing. The fact that everybody is flat is not a problem for me.  If it was, this would be in the Con section.  No, the reason I am even mentioning this potential ball of toxic drama is because there are a few female characters in the show that do have breasts and they are not depicted in a sexual light.  If the fear of sexualization was behind the decision to make every female character flat, then why are these characters exempt from the rule?  Was it something that was looked over during character modelling process, or is it something that the show runners intentionally done?  That is something to think about if you are trying to form an argument for either side.
There are people that feel like breasts are a sexual taboo and that giving breasts to girls under the age of 18 is an act of sexualizing minors.  Others say that the removal of breasts is a form of body shaming towards those who were naturally endowed.  Everybody has their reasons and chooses a side.  Both seeking to set up a victim they swear to protect, but is more like an excuse to get their teeth and nails soaked in blood.  It is just sad to think that it should happen over a cartoon that is suppose to introduce a younger generation to a show that my generation loved.
There were a lot of references towards She-ra’s connection to He-man in this show.  It is actually an overarching plot point really.  Eternia and Grayskull are name dropped, and I am getting a good feeling that the “First Ones” are them.  Now what this could mean about this show’s version of He-man and the Masters of the Universe is hard to tell.  They could have Eternia be from a different dimension or from another planet.  Maybe Eternia is destroyed by this point?  It is all a mystery.  All I can imagine is that Adora’s family (Prince Adam and his parents) will become important within season 2 or 3.  The circumstances behind why Shadow Weaver is so obsessed with keeping Adora so close to her should also be revealed then as well.
There is a Kowl plushie and it is pretty cute.  They should introduce Kowl next season and make him as cute and lovable as 2011 Thundercats’ Snarf.  Even that new Thundercats reboot, which people hate with a burning passion, based their Snarf off that one.  Cute sells.  It sells more than sex.  This is the absolute truth.
Phew!  This was more than I intended but I feel like I got my points across.  Despite those cons you see, I feel like Netflix’s She-ra did a good job for its first season.  As somebody not blinded by hate or rainbow-tinted lens, I feel like this is good enough to introduce my niece to. I can only hope that Catra will be her favorite.  It will fill me with pride if she can recognize who the best character is.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - thoughts after reading it for the first time
oh my god it’s come to this. we made it. WE ARE HERE. at the end. im emotional. shsajhahjs THATS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. This whole book has left me so emotionally drained but not in a bad way. it made me feel so so so much and change everything and i’m just shjjhsahjas I GOT A LOT OF THOUGHTS but i’m also worried i’ll forget things cos i took a long time to read this and a lot happened so ashjashjas let’s see how i go (i really should have kept notes as i read but i’m chaotic and it’s too late sajsahj i’ll do that if i ever review a book on here again)
THIS IS SO LONG so if you read all of this then sajhsajha wow you must really love me or harry, or both sdhjasjhahjssajh 💖
ALRIGHT lets start with dudley!! it feels like years ago now but when he actually showed feelings towards harry it was soooo good and unexpected and i really really loved that choice. like showing that he’s not a villain or anything and that he does actually care for harry despite being such a brat his whole life sahjsahj idk it made me remember that he’s just a kid too who was also raised by the dursley’s you know? anyway i loved it and i’m hoping harry and him do sorta keep in touch.
this also feels like a big part of the theme in this series i want to touch on. I feel like instead of villainising characters straight up, we sorta get to see that when you are shown nothing but cruelty and disrespect then they are the traits you will only know as you grow and it’s really sad but also creates incredible empathy and understanding in the reader when you see characters like draco and dudley kinda follow what their parents teach them. and then when you get that reminder with both characters that that’s not really them and once they begin to think for themselves or get shown something else they can finally branch away from that and be who they really are. That’s what i love so much in this series! being able to see that they aren’t evil or bad they’ve just been taught shitty behaviour and they can change once they follow their own beliefs and not those of their parents.
i also had a slight critique about slytherin’s potrayal here shjashj but i deleted it cos i felt like i ranted more than i should ashjashj but basically i just felt like there was sooooo much anti-slytherin content in the series but i got it cos i figured it was all building up to a big SLYTHERINS ARE GOOD TOO LETS BE FRIENDS moment and i mean i wasn’t wrong? we got that sorta, in the end when harry talked to his son and told him that slytherins are cool too, although the example was snape jhsjhsa. but yeah i think after all that i was expecting something more idk. especially cos i found it weird that not a single slytherin was in dumbledores army or fought on the order of phoenix side in the battle. like they all just left! but idk maybe i’m too new to hp to understand sahjsahj i just thought at least a couple slytherins would fight just to show that not all of them are bad but maybe they were scared cos of voldemort’s ties to the house shjashj sorry this still turned into a bit of a rant but i’m not like annoyed just surprised. imagine a character who was in the squad but they were slytherin sjhasjh
ANYWAY back on track shjasjhas
hedwig dying broke my god damn heart
IM CRYING remember when fred and george got turned into harry’s and they turned to each other and said in sync “WOW WE’RE IDENTICAL!” im sorry i just flicked to that page by accident to remember what to discuss next and that just made me laugh again im sahjahjhjsa
SO I GUESS THAT MEANS IT’S TIME TO TALK ABOUT FRED AND GEORGE. okay yes so they are two of my fave characters EVER not just in hp but in anything i’ve ever read or watched. they bring me so much laughter and happiness and while reading this series, when i was feeling down and i needed something to get my mind of things, i would read hp. but every single time a line from fred or george came up, it would make me feel SO much joy and i can’t express how much they both helped me and brought light into my life while reading this series. and they’ll always hold a special place in my heart. i’m so thankful for this series because it introduced me to some of the most beautiful characters i’ve ever met. and fred and george are two of them. They showed how much you can give and help in such a horrible situation, just by giving people something to laugh about and that was so so so incredible to read. to see that you don’t have to be super brainy like hermione or strong or brave like ron and harry to be important and a hero. bringing light and laughter in people’s lives during a dark time is just as heroic and meaningful as anything else and i love that fred and george represented that power. (but also they had everything else too sajashjhjas) anyway i really love them. and i remember while reading this book, fred pulled the same joke he did when we first saw him in book one and it made me emotional because we have come so far and he’s still just as warm and joyful as he was 7 years ago. losing him was the worst thing in the whole series, not worst in the sense that it didn’t make sense or anything because it did and i’m glad i could feel soooo much but it was the worst thing by it hurting the worst for me personally and ishjajhashjsa im never gonna get over it. everytime i think about it i cry like i am now dammit sdhjsahjajh SO LETS CHANGE THE SUBJECT
oh my god one of the things that broke my heart early on wasn’t even a death but hermione erasing herself from her parents minds to protect them???? That’s absolutely heartbreaking and sad and i love her so much. she is so clever but also so caring and brilliant and she does whatever she needs to and it’s just fucking hell it was so sad and i just hope it all worked out and she was able to undo it cos i’m really stressing about it i don’t want her to lose her parents :(( and they love her so much like we never got to see them much but i remember in the second book how supportive they were even tho it was so out of their element and scary they were just happy for their daughter and GAH I’M EMOTIONAL anyway i love hermione so much, moving on.
Ron and harry fighting??? MADE ME AGE A THOUSAND YEARS OUT OF STRESS AND PAIN that’s the worst, i hate it. i hate it when they fight. it breaks my heart because you know how much ron means to harry. he’s his number one, he’s his family, his best friend, the first person to ever love him and show him loyalty and love and what it’s like to have a brother who loves you like sahajshhjas IM SORRY ONE OF MY FAVE THINGS IN THIS WHOLE SERIES IS THEIR RELATIONSHIP 100% they mean everything to me. Ron is so insecure because he constantly feels like he’s in harry’s shadow but what he doesn’t realise is that when it comes to harry, everyone else is in his shadow because ron is the most important person to him. i mean don’t get me wrong they love hermione too ashjsahjahj but like ron and harry <3 it’s special they need each other im super asjhhajs im sorry im so passionate about their friendship and chosen family it means so much to me. like i hated it when they fought in goblet of fire and THEN I HAD TO GO THROUGH IT AGAIN??? but the scene where they made up literally made me cry and scream in happiness i love them so much i don’t want them to ever not be in each others lives.
honestly i like ron and hermione! idk if that’s unpopular or what but i feel like they do make sense and their relationship was actually built up based on actual connection and years of developing.....unlike some people who never even talked and then woke up and suddenly were in love for no reason *cough*
TIME TO TALK ABOUT SAD THINGS AGAIN! dobby dying was absolutely horrible that whole chapter was SO DARK and scary and i was actually genuinely frightened for the first time in the series i was so so so scared it was horrible and then dobby came like an angel and saved the day and then he was just....gone??? it was so unfair and so sad and just i hate it so much i can’t comprehend it. he was a free elf! he didn’t deserve this. no one deserved this. that’s what was so tragic about the deaths in this series and it’s what makes everything so real. im so sad god dammit let me find something less sad to talk about again.
HARRY IS THE DESCENDANT OF THE BROTHER WHO CHOSE THE INVISIBILITY CLOAK FROM THE DEATHLY HALLOW STORY!!!! ahhhhh im so happy i love that harry is related to something so cool and ahhhhhhhh it’s honestly so good and exciting how everything came together naturally like that. and CAN WE TALK ABOUT HIS CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT?? like how he literally went from saying he would choose the ressurrection stone, to in the end, just leaving it in the middle of the forest? im so proud of him he breaks my heart and i just wanna protect him forever i’ve never loved someone so much like ashjsajhsa i need to stop but seriously, harry is my absolute everything i love this god damn kid help.
speaking of people who love harry.... jhsjhassjjas i really really love draco. like i feel so protective of this kid? i want to know more more more about him and i want to help him and go back in time and keep him away from all that bullshit dark stuff i can’t wait to read all the fics that analyse him because i know he’s actually a genuine good? i feel like he is. his parents let him down and he didn’t have any healthy relationships in his life to help him see another side of things even tho i know and really feel like if he did, things would have been different. he was just a kid and you could see he didn’t want this he hated it, he was so scared and alone and sahjsahjhjsa IM SORRY I LOVE HIM
OKay can i just roast voldemort for a sec by saying, he is TERRIBLE at researching plans before execution and thinking through things like he acted like a silly egotistic child im so. how did the death eaters take him seriously? i don’t understand OKAY YES I KNOW HE HAS SO MUCH POWER but pfft he kept taking snapes credit for killing dumbles. but then it turned out dumbles asked snape to anyway so like sjshjjhsa and harry roasted him with that himself. i love that kid. anyway yeah i can’t wait to make voldemort memes forever this dude is so sjsajasjkajsk i hate him but also enjoy hating him.
Remus and tonks :((( im so sad i love lupin so much it’s not fair but also now teddy is an orphan after a war just like harry and now harry is the godfather to teddy just like sirius was to him :(( im emotional.
MOLLY SLAYED BELLATRIX I LOVE HER “NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH!” jhsdjhsjhsdj queen
okay okay okay finally i’ll address the thing that MESSED ME UP oh my god sajhhjashjsa so i have been complaining for ageeeees that i want LILY! BACKSTORY! and when i didn’t get it in half blood prince i was devastated sahjsahjjhsa and i figured it was never going to happen and then when i least expected it I GET ACTUAL LILY BACKSTORY CONTENT from the man i have been roasting and hating since book one im sahjshajhjas the irony kills me. anyway lily was just as amazing as i thought she was. i love her so much she’s so beautiful and kind and loyal and compassionate. she’s everything <3 and honestly i was actually able to empathise with snape? their friendship was so pure and sweet and i can’t believe he was her best friend in hogwarts this whole time. it’s really sad how he let himself be drawn to dark magic because she was never going to give up on him. him being drawn to that magic, and calling her a slur was what pushed her away and also brought her closer to james so, thanks for helping harry be born mate ashjjhas idk it’s sad and i empathise with snape now and now i can understand things i couldn’t before. LIKE EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE NOW. it’s like the missing piece has been found and i can see everything with new eyes it’s insane. and i remember seeing something about obsessive love in half blood prince and guessing that it was foreshadowing something and i think this is it. it’s just sad :(( and he actually was on dumbledores side im so sahjsahjhjas this whole thing was such a mindfuck idk what to think. but yeah i do emphasise with snape. do i like him now? no 🙈 sorry BUT i can understand him better and his character intrigues me it’s just really sad but he’s still an adult who bullies children. and daaaamn he hated harry, lucky for us he loved lily more than voldemort tho whoop i’m pretty sure my older sister loves snape tho so maybe i’m being too harsh idk
HARRY WAS A HORCRUX??? i can’t that was epic and such a shock what in the world. i’m so happy how things turned out but holy shit that was insane. yet it made so much sense im so sjjshahjas
oh i love luna ashjahjshjas just gotta say that she’s my everything <3
NEVILLE I LOVE NEVILLE HIM KILLING THE SNAKE WAS ICONIC !!!!! im so so so happy it was him. i love him so much he really showed how much bravery and potential he has i love this kid.
okay so hands down the Kings Cross chapter was one of the best chapters in this whole series. seeing dumbledore finally tell us everything and getting to hear and see his mistakes and flaws and his truth was so so so emotional for me and it felt like final closure. im so dhjahjhja the way it was written!!! just all of it every single bit of it made me feel something and OPEN AT THE CLOSE im asjhhjsahjas ofc im just god the whole thing was sooooo jhsjhasjhas THE FEELINGS im sorry im not at all articulate when it comes to this im just the whole thing played in my head so well and i still have chills just from thinking about it i really don’t want this to end :((
finally the ending, im surprised that harry married ginny (i mean i guess not surprised cos he’s her love interest, maybe just jahsjhsasahj indifferent?) but im happy that we got to see him happy and again i love that he told albus it didn’t matter if he was in slytherin cos slytherins are cool too jsshjahjsa that was so important. ALSO draco!!! they nodded 👀 also shjsahja luna and george weren’t mentione :((
OH MY GOD I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT HOW MUCH NOSTALGIA I GOT IN SNAPES MEMORY WHEN WE SAW JAMES AND SIRIUS FIRST BECOME FRIENDS ON THE TRAIN IT MADE ME THINK OF THE FIRST BOOK IM EMOTIONAL
Now i just want to say i genuinely love harry so so so much. he’s sassy and brave and selfless and caring and he has so much anger and frustration but that never stops him from doing what he can to help people and it just :(( he deserved a happy, free and loving childhood. i love this boy with all my heart and i always will im so thankful i finally let myself actually read his story.
This series brought me so much laughter, wonder, tears, pain and magic. i’m so so so happy i finally read it sahjsajh despite avoiding and judging it my whole life lmao i was so wrong about it and this series has made me fall deeply in love with every single character and now im obsessed shjashjhjas LIKE I LITERALLY CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT i can’t im so asjhashj
im actually obsessed with harry potter i didn’t think this would ever happen to me. thank you for taking this journey with me angels 💖
anyway now i got 8(?) movies to watch for the first time sahjashashj stay tuned 💖

Welcome To Spookyville! Chapter 5
Notes: As always, big thanks to my amazing editors, Drucilla and BlueShifted! In addition to all the commas, grammar and other mistakes I tend to make, they also added in plenty of their own jokes to make this nonsensical time extra hilarious.
Well, it's the final chapter, I hope you all enjoyed this odd ride. As experiments go, I think this was an interesting one, but not one I'll revisit anytime soon. As much as I enjoy making people laugh, I do miss writing drama and true love.
Big thanks to my pals Chllstarr, Denise, and Cici, and wayyy too many of you nutty folks who, for years, demanded I wrote more of Witch Minnie and poor Mayor Mickey. I hope this satisfied your craving, you lovable weirdos. Naturally, I also thank all my fans who left comments, reblogged, and so forth - each one means the world to me and keeps me going.
Happy Halloween, again, and may your days be less spooky than Mickey's!
Summary: In the final tale of Spookyville, a villain returns with a nefarious scheme... by using another villain! Are they getting as lazy as the author?
For the final tale in Spookyville, we return once more to the pumpkin-filled park, where our heroes – protagonists? – maybe “main victims” is the best term – were quietly passing the time, waiting patiently for another man's arrival. Goofy had set up a lovely picnic, and Donald and Mickey were eating away, their manners impeccable and their taste buds questionable. As they waited, they discussed the topic of the day – the word “normal”.
Normal is relative in Spookyville. If something happens to you enough times, you might consider it normal for your day to day life. Today, for example, Mayor Mickey found it normal to have received a letter from warlock Mortimer to meet him in the town square for another magic duel. Ever since Mortimer lost Minnie's affections to the Mayor (not that he ever had them [in any universe]), he had tried to take Spookyville over in retribution by challenging Mickey to these ridiculous battles, and had lost in utter humiliation each and every time. Since Mickey's magic was much stronger, and Mortimer's mind was much weaker, these became more like chores than epic duels to the death.
“For a guy who claims to be the best student at his school,” Donald said in-between cookie bites, “he sure doesn't learn his lesson.”
“Maybe we should write Headmaster Scrooge about this.” Mickey picked up a cup of pumpkin spice tea. “I don't want to get Mortimer in more trouble than he's already been in, but if a person doesn't learn from their mistakes, they're doomed to repeat them.” He was about to take a sip when his nose picked up on the fact that this didn't smell like pumpkin at all. He glanced downward, and instead of an orange color in his cup, it was pink, the steam looking like a mixture of a heart and a skull with crossbones. “Speaking of doom that repeats for eternity...”
“Hey guys! What’re you doing here?” Minnie chirped happily, right next to Mickey, holding up a gigantic kettle of love-potion tea, if it could be called that. By this point, the three men were no longer shocked she could sneak up on them with more stealth than your average anime ninja.
Donald held up a small envelope between his fingers. “Same reason as you, I bet.” Mickey silently dumped his tea onto the grass, pretending he didn't see it wither and die.
“AND NOW, THE HOUR OF HIS DEFEAT IS NIGH!” In a puff of hazardous blue smoke, Mortimer appeared before our heroes, flaunting his expensive robes and holding up a brand new spell book. “I wanted the people closest to the mayor to see his ultimate downfall! For this is the day I triumph over him once and for all! He will rue the day he didn’t hand over the town to me peacefully when we first met! Now he will know the true wrath of Warlock Mortimer, the most powerful… are any of you listening to me?!”
Another normality of Spookyville was Mortimer’s dull bragging monologues, so when the blue smoke appeared, the small group did their usual business – Goofy poofing up a brand new pot of tea to pour for the mayor, Donald informing Mickey about the day’s schedule while Mickey tried to arrange the best times, and Minnie clinging to his arm and trying to earn a kiss out of him. Mickey was the first to notice Mortimer had stopped talking. “Oh, uh, sorry. Go on.”
“I challenge you, mayor!” Mortimer pointed a demanding finger towards Mickey, while the mayor calmly tried to push Minnie's face away from his own. “To a magic duel! And the winner becomes Mayor of Spookyville! Do you accept?”
“Yeah, yeah, I know the drill.” Mickey waved off his group, and they gave him enough space for him to start doing his stretch exercises. “Can we wrap this up a little quicker today? I’m supposed to give a speech at noon for the Ghoul Scouts. They have a new badge for 'Warning Citizens About Minnie'.”
“It's so adorable!” Minnie added, having poofed up a pair of pompoms to cheer for her beloved. “It almost makes me sorry for trying to use their cookies in last weeks plan! At least only fifteen people got sick this time.”
“Your arrogance will be your downfall today!” Mortimer flipped open his book, and pressed his thumb down on the chosen page. “I only need one spell to take care of you!” The page began to glow black with red letters, giving off a dangerous air. “This is the ultimate Summoning Magic! Long has it been forbidden, but I am the one who can tame its invincible power! Take this, former mayor of Spookyville!” The glow of morbid colors swirled together, and then shot out of the book, blasting towards Mickey. The mayor braced himself, crossing his arms in front of him. The blast hit him –
And went right through him. Mickey blinked, not feeling a twinge of pain anywhere. Not even his clothes registered a tear or a fold. The blast was already gone, and for everyone who was looking at this battle, it was as if nothing had happened. Mickey waited a moment, and then clicked his tongue. “… So, uh, are we done here? Like I said, I got a speech to do, and those girls get ornery if I'm late…”
“I HAVE ALREADY TRIUMPHED!” Mortimer declared way too loudly, doing his trademark obnoxious laugh. “Maybe I can never defeat you, but I know who can! You will defeat you!”
“… I wanna say that’s the dumbest thing I ever heard you say, but I’m gunna guess you still got plenty to say.” He rolled his eyes at his opponent’s gloating, but in doing so, now noticed a red swirl floating just about his head. The red swirl turned and turned over and over until it became rectangular, and then it solidified, turning into a red door. The door then swung open, and someone hopped onto the ground.
It was another Mickey – and yet so not Mickey! Unlike the mayor, this Mickey’s outfit was composed of blood rich reds, from his top hat, to his flowing overcoat, and whatever wasn’t red was nightly black and decorated in yellow spider-webs. His hat boasted a proud yellow bat insignia, his spider-web collar popped out around his neck, and even his eyes were red as the fires of hell. He smirked wickedly at those who had gone silent due to being stunned – except Minnie, who had started cheering “Whoo-hoo, two mayors!” after she pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t having that dream she typically had on Tuesday nights.
“Behold, former Mayor!” Mortimer slammed his book shut, now that he was certain in his victory. “I have come across a spell that takes all your worst traits, and creates a second you! All of your sins, all of your hidden evil thoughts, all that you try to hide… that will be your undoing! I deem him… Malice Mickey! Now, Malice Mickey! Destroy my enemy, and make me the new mayor!”
Malice Mickey glanced over at Mortimer, and then stuck his hands in his pants pockets. “Nah.”
“… N-Nah?!” Mortimer dropped his book, unable to believe what he had just heard. “Hey, I just brought you into life! Now go and get me the title of Mayor!”
“Why should I?” Malice Mickey shrugged, and began to take a good look at his surroundings, as the stupefied others stared back and forth at the two bickering. “You said it yourself… you can’t beat me. So I’m gunna take over Spookyville!” He grinned, exposing sharp fangs as devious plans began to grow in his twisted mind. “I’ll flip over all the rules, and make it into my perfect home! No more mister nice guy… this place is all mine now!”
“You ungrateful brat!” Mortimer hissed, trying to pick up his fallen book. “I made you, I can unmake you! All I need to do is go back to that page and-”
Malice Mickey snapped his fingers, and the shadow behind him suddenly rolled around, turning into a horrid beam of pure darkness, blasting right at Mortimer. Unlike Mortimer’s attack, which hadn’t even caused Mickey to flinch, this blast actually did some blasting – Mortimer was now a flat pancake in the walls of the nearby coffee shop. Malice Mickey dusted himself off, enjoying the startled audience. “My powers are of darkness and shadows. I guess you could call it... Malice Magic!” He was evil, not creative. “I can use anything with a shadow as a weapon. So, who’s next?”
“Leave this menace up to us, Mister Mayor!” Donald and Goofy took fighting stances as they stood in front of their mayor, willing to end the problem right there. “It’s still you, deep down! And he has our memories, our loves together, our bonds in his heart! He’ll definitely be reluctant in attacking us! We’ll use our friendship to our advantage! He won’t be able to touch us!”
Six seconds later, Goofy and Donald joined Mortimer as they were embedded into the thick coffee shop walls. “Sorry about that, fellas!” Mayor Mickey called out when the debris had stopped falling.  “I promise to give you more vacation days to make up for it!” He ignored the fact that Donald was probably giving him a different finger than a thumbs-up, and faced his opponent. “I ain’t givin’ up my title to someone who’s just gunna cause trouble! You better go back where you came from!”
“Am I supposed to be scared of a goody-two-shoes?” Malice Mickey laughed, and clenched his fists as he prepared for another spell. “You always hold back your real power because you want to protect your precious home… but I’ve got no conscience, no guilt, no shame! This town is mine, right after I get rid of you!” His shadow began to move again, and another attack of sheer darkness was launched at the mayor before he had time to react.
But this attack would not land, as two thin, red magical shields were held up just in time to deflect it. When the pom-pom shields came down, witch Minnie proud stood in front of the mayor, actually capable of protecting him, when she wasn't the one after him. “No one’s getting rid of my Mayor!” she announced with her hands on her hips, and for once in his life, the mayor was glad to be the object of her obsession. “He’s the best mayor Spookyville has ever had, and no handsome madman in good pants is going to change that!”
Malice Mickey carefully studied his opponent, allowing his shadow to return to its normal shape. His red eyes went over her in detail, and then he casually strode up to her, licking his lips. “Mmm… speakin’ of no shame…” He came right up to her, cupping her chin in his gloved fingers. “How’s about when I become Mayor, I make you my secretary? I promise I’m real good at dictation.”
“H-HEY!” Mayor Mickey yanked Minnie back by her shoulders, flustered by a man wearing his face making such lewd insinuations. “This is a Disney Story! You almost made us change the Rating! Where do you get off sayin’ that?! … On second thought, don't answer that.” Minnie, meanwhile, was having a mental meltdown, unable to believe what she had just experienced but very eager to experience it again.
“If you're not gunna use her, why can’t I?” Malice Mickey yanked her forwards, giving her a swift pat on the tail. “And I can think of a lotta uses for her.”
“Get your hands off of her!” Mickey grabbed a hold of Minnie’s hand, trying to get her back.
Malice Mickey grabbed her other hand, and the tug of war began. “Last time I checked, you wanted to get rid of yer stalker. You don’t want her, so I’m takin’ her.”
“J-Just because I don’t want her doesn’t mean you can have her!”
“C’mon, Mins, let’s ditch this loser and have some fun on the dark side.”
“Don’tcha listen to him, Minnie! He’s nothin’ but trouble!”
Back at the marginally destroyed coffee shop, the three victims had managed to peel themselves off the wall and began painfully crawling back to Mortimer’s dropped spell book. “If I can just get back to that page,” Mortimer groaned while on his hands and knees, yet also holding a fresh cup of java. “I can use a counteractive spell and get rid of him.”
“We gotta do it quick,” Goofy whispered so the trio wouldn’t be caught. “Or else Malice Mickey will take over all of Spookyville, and we’re all doomed!”
“Actually,” Donald pointed to the small group of mice. “I think we’ve got plenty of time.” The three of them paused to watch the oddly hilarious tug and pull go on, and judging by Minnie’s deliriously happy expression, she was the one winning the game.
“… So if Malice Mickey is made up of all of the Mayor’s hidden bad traits…” Goofy said slowly as he tried to explain his question. “… Does that mean he actually likes Min-”
“I don’t think the Mayor’s mental state is ready to deal with those kinds of ramifications,” Donald answered rapidly, hoping enough big words would stall Goofy’s intelligence from coming up with any more dangerously accurate lines of reasoning.
As for the game of mice, Malice Mickey swept up a victory by flipping Minnie over his shoulders and beginning to run away with her, manically cackling all the while as Minnie kicked her heels back and forth in confused glee. Mayor Mickey pushed his hat forward, beginning to snarl as he took chase. “After him, men! He’s gunna take Minnie out on a date!”
“And take over Spookyville,” Goofy reminded him.
“That too!”

Little known fact about vampires – their favorite color is blood red. As a result, they enjoy filling their homes with red things, such as red roses. Daisy Duck was at the flower boutique, hoping to buy a fresh bouquet for her coffin, genuinely surprised she was in another chapter as she had assumed she was a one-chapter joke. This was only slightly less surprising than the roof being ripped off by a gigantic shadow, and a copy of the Mayor hopping down to the floor with the infamous witch in his arms. But only slightly.
“A perfect location for the start of our date!” Malice Mickey decided, as the customers and employees all also decided that whatever was happening, they didn't want any part of it, and promptly left like a stampede of lion-killing wildebeests. “What better way to kick things off than with a boy giving his best girl fresh flowers?” He plucked off a forget-me-now from the shelf, having forgotten-now this wasn't Minnie's favorite. “Can't get anymore romantic than that!”
Minnie cupped her chin in thought as she took the flower. This was a conundrum! “On the one hand, you are the Mayor, sort of,” she explained out loud, plucking a petal off. “On the other hand, I fell in love with the Mayor for his positive traits.” Pluck. “But you're willing to actually hold me and date me and ignore the massive property damage I cause.” Pluck. “But the way Mickey sobs into his pillow at night over the way I dent the city's budget is so adorable...” Pluck.
The door to the shop opened so hard that the cute bell atop went flying, smacking Malice Mickey's hat off. Mayor Mickey and his cronies stood in the doorway, panting hard, having sprinted all the way there. They spotted Daisy first. “Miss! Have you seen my evil clone and my obsessive fangirl?”
“It's a sad state of affairs that there's not a single weird thing in your sentences anymore,” Daisy said as she pointed them in the right direction, before waving to Donald. “Hi babe. Dinner at eight?”
“This time, can I please not be the dinner?”
Malice Mickey growled, putting his hat back on. If he was going to murder someone, he was going to do it with style. “Get lost, dweebs! I'm not letting you ruin my date!”
“And I'm not letting you date Minnie!” Mickey countered.
“And take over Spookyville,” Goofy reminded him again.
“And that too!”
“Then I'll just have to get rid of you the hard way!” Malice Mickey warned, as Minnie had now stripped at least seven flowers of their petals as she continued to debate her boyfriend options. He raised a hand, and began to fire off more blasts from his infernal shadow powers, which were thankfully so vague the author didn't have to think too hard about it.
The trio ducked under a heavy shade of nightshade, trying to go through their options, while Daisy plucked a straw from her purse – if this was going to be a bloodbath, might as well get a free meal out of it. “We're in trouble, Mayor!” Donald stated the obvious. “It's the last chapter, so the writer is going to be extra lazy in an effort to get this thing done and over with! There could be all kinds of badly written plot twists and deus ex machinas!”
“Or a deus ex mouse-ina., Goofy couldn't help himself, and thus felt he had earned it when Donald kicked him into the line of fire.
“We'll just have to make due!” Mickey opened his cape, summoning one of his many doors. “Concentrate on finding that spell! I'll distract him! Open Sesame!” It was a flower shop, so it made sense to magically command a door full of bees! They swarmed Malice Mickey, but not Minnie, because animals have a natural sense not to attack things they know will destroy them in the blink of an eye.
While Malice Mickey yelped and tried to dodge the stream of stings, Minnie sighed, running out of flowers to ruin. “This is really hard! Maybe I should just flip a coin.”
“Great idea, babe!” Malice Mickey grabbed her wrist, pointing down to his shadow. “As the new Mayor, the city's money is my money too! Let's go shopping!” With that, he hopped into his shadow, vanishing along with his stolen bride.
“Oh, come on, that's taking lazy writing to the max!” Mayor Mickey moaned, slapping a hand to his forehead. “If he keeps getting new abilities whenever he feels like it, we'll never be able to stop them!”
“But this book is huge!” Donald held it up, showing off the thick pages and ineligible handwriting. “I can't even begin to find the spell Mortimer used! How can we find the counter-spell before it's too late? Can't we just have the author go back and delete that note, so we have an easier time?”
Goofy sat up, having been blasted to bits by Malice Mickey's line of fire but still having enough strength left over to drop the next plot point. “Well... since he came from the book, what if we just put him back in there?”
Mickey snapped his fingers. “That's brilliant, Goofy! We'll smash him between the pages, like when I used Donald's schedule-book to kill that pesky fly this morning!”
“Exactly! … Wait, what did you do my book?”

The First National Bank of Spookyville was normally a quiet, boring place, as most banks are. Being a Halloween-themed bank didn't really change that aspect, save for the fact most of the coins inside were chocolate and covered in fake gold foil. Minnie wound up more interested in eating them than flipping them, which only made choosing which Mickey she preferred all the more difficult. It was also difficult to think clearly when Malice Mickey was making so much noise ripping the vault doors open and laughing evilly as he shoved money into his pockets. “Mwahahaha! All the money in Spookyville belongs to me! It's my right to use it however I want! A new mansion, fancy cars, and most expensive of all, a decent phone service!”
The tellers hid in a corner, afraid of this “new side” of the Mayor. “A politician who is actually honest about their corruption... What's next? Celebrities admitting they actually use plastic surgery?! Spookyville can't handle this kind of reality!”
“Spookyville won't have a choice!” Malice Mickey slammed down a bag of cash, before standing on top of it proudly. “New rules for a new Mayor! I'm going to turn this place upside-down and inside-out!Everyone will have to do whatever I say, and I get to do anything I want! In fact, why settle for being a mere mayor? No more elections! No more votes! For my first act, I declare myself as the forever ruler of Spookyville... King Mickey!”
With that settled, Malice Mickey jumped in front of Minnie, ready to win her over. “How does that sound? Simple and Clean, right?”
Minnie “hmm”ed about it, flipping another chocolate coin in her mouth to give a thoughtful chew. “You know, when you walk away, you don't hear me say-”
“Please, oh baby, don't go?”
“No.” Minnie held up a flat hand to stop the musical. “I'm in love with Mayor Mickey, not King Mickey. I'm starting to wonder if you're just too different from the man I want to be with. If I have to think this much about it, doesn't that say something?” Aside from the fact that this story needed to be stretched out.
“But if I'm King, I'll need a Queen!” Malice Mickey threw an arm around Minnie's shoulders. “Think of it – Queen Minnie! What comes to mind when you hear that?”
“Being a laggy Escort Mission?”
“Besides that,” He cleared his throat. “No rules, no limits! You can do whatever you want, to whoever you want, and never suffer any consequences!”
“How is that any different than what I do now?”
Malice Mickey needed a few seconds to come up with a better answer. “Less puns?”
This was, admittedly, a tempting offer. She thought of it while the Mayor and his lackeys once again caught up to the doorway, out of breath and needing to grab a glass of water before they could manage to speak. “Why is it,” Donald said after a haggard breath, “Witches can fly wherever they want, but warlocks have to run? This town is too big!”
“At the next meeting, let's bring up the idea of moving sidewalks again...” Mickey wiped sweat off his forehead before continuing the story. “Hold it right there, you demonic deuce! And stop holding Minnie! Whatever it takes, I will not let you date her!”
“And take over Spooky – aw, forget it.”
Malice Mickey began to stomp forward, irritation clear on his face. “You've interrupted me for the last time, Squeaky and Clean! I'm going to wipe you off the map! My shadows are endless, I can never run out of them!”
“Ditto for my doors!” Mickey countered, holding up his cape. “I never run out of places to send or things to summon! If we want, this could be an epic battle for the ages with intricate detail and breathless exposition!”
Faced with the idea of a never-ending duel of magic, they decided to just do plain old fisticuffs.
“LADY, COULD YOU PLEASE JUST TAKE ONE CREATIVE WRITING COURSE?!”
Malice Mickey launched himself at his better half, and the childish brawl began, mostly with slaps but also with the occasion punch, kick, and bite. Goofy and Donald didn't dare interfere, just because this looked really childish, especially as Malice gave Mickey an epic noogie. Still, the match wasn't going to make any progress anytime soon. After all, they were equally matched, with equal strength, equal weaknesses, and equal stubbornness. This could have gone on all day and all night.
Which suited Minnie just fine, as she wondered if she could get this image to replay for her every morning when she got out of bed. But this wasn't solving her problem.
With great reluctance, Donald inched over to Minnie, holding out the book that started the whole mess. “If we could just smush the evil double into the book, he'd be gone. You're stronger than all of us, by some cruel twist of fate, so could you do us all a favor and get this over with?”
“I don't know...” Minnie clicked her tongue. “It is kind of nice having the Mayor fight for me! Why should I stop this right now? Maybe the other guy can stick around so the Mayor can keep on chasing me! I can't think of anything better than that!”
Both Mickeys heard this loud and clear, and it became clear to the Mayor that there was only one way out of this. He'd have to say the words he had been dreading since he first learned of Minnie's insane desire for him. It was time to reach into the very depths of his soul and pull out his earnest, honest feelings. Men could only hold onto their pride for so long! He knew Minnie better than anyone, so knew exactly what she wanted to hear.
It was time to use... the d-word.
Mayor Mickey kicked Malice Mickey off him, and on one knee, slammed his hand down to the floor. “Minnie! I just have one thing to say, and if it won't change your mind, I'll give up! I promise I'll leave the both of you alone to do whatever PG-13 things you want!”
Malice Mickey snorted, his arrogant nose high in the air. “What could you possibly say that'll make her choose you over me?”
Mayor Mickey inhaled deeply, eyes shut, mentally readying himself. When he opened his eyes, he stared right at Minnie, who was very curious about this turn of events. “Minnie Mouse... If you defeat Malice Mickey... I'll go on a date with you.”
Three seconds of silence passed – Malice Mickey burst into uproarious laughter. “A date?! That's it? You think she'll get rid of me for one lousy date? You must be out of your-”
BA-THONK, apparently, is the sound of a heavy open book smashed into the skull of an evil clone.
BA-THONK!
BA-THONK!
BA-THONK!

“I think he's in already.” Goofy timidly suggested, as Minnie continued to slam the magic book down on the space Malice Mickey used to be. Indeed, he had poofed back inside after the first hit, but Minnie wanted to be extra sure, and thus kept banging the book into the floor until there was a certifiable crack in the marble.
Satisfied, Minnie closed the book. “All done! When are we going out?”
“You can't be serious,” Donald scoffed. “He just said that to get you to help out!”
“Now, now, Donald.” Mickey began to stand up, brushing his outfit down and notably not making eye-contact with Minnie. “I am a man of my word. I said I'll go on a date with her, and that's what I'll do. We'll arrange it and everything.”
Goofy placed a hand on his friend's shoulder. “That's awfully considerate of you, Mickey! I think I respect you more than I ever did before!” Even Donald had to admit this was rather amazing, and he felt his soul moved! Both men were in awe of Mickey's bravery!
“So, Donald, arrange a date... for April 31st.”
Both men were in awe of Mickey's cowardice.
Minnie threw her arms around Mickey for a tight squeeze, unable to stop giggling. “Oh, I can't wait! This has made today's weirdness all worth it! I love you sooo much, my Mayor!” With a smooch to his cheek, she twirled around, delirious with joy. “I'll love you forever and ever and ever, no matter what! Oh, I'm so excited, I want to start preparing for it right away!” She stuck two fingers in her mouth, whistling for her flying broom to pick her up. Once she was high in the sky, she waved back to the men, and let out one more long “I LOOOOOVE YOUUUUUU!” as she sailed off into the clouds.
Mickey straightened his jacket. “So, how long do you think it'll take her to realize April 31st doesn't exist?”
“I give it another minute,” Goofy said after checking his watch. “Guess this is just normal for us too.”
“Gives us a good head start, at least!” Mickey tried to see the positive side of the situation, and started to run. “C'mon, fellas! We've got a whole day of dodging and repairing to get through!” Just like every day since he met her, and every day in the future – given the longevity of warlock lives, and the longevity of Halloween itself, he knew this was a chase that would last until the end of time. For one reason or another, this didn't bother him as much as it should.
Fortunately for the rest of us, this story is not as long. So how does one end five tales of ghouls, girls and ghastliness? Perhaps the simplest way is best. They all lived happily ever after, and Mickey married Minnie and had sixteen children and they all lived in a big pumpkin house with eight cats and -
