aster, unlike every other vampire in current existence, was born instead of made.

their parents, if you want to call them that, were hungry for knowledge and eager to experiment. they wondered if two vampires had ever attempted to sire a full-blood child before, if such a thing were even possible. despite their research turning up next to nothing, the pair were not dissuaded. it took a century or two, but after multiple different trials and rituals, lady branwen crane became pregnant.

it was not an easy pregnancy, to say the least. lady crane endured pains she had long forgotten were possible, a hunger unlike any other she'd known before, she was almost ready to give up. eventually, the baby came, sporting one fully black eyes and two tiny bumps growing out of their forehead.

the lord and lady could not figure out what went wrong, how they had birthed such a monstrosity, this was not the perfect child they envisioned and had desired for so many years. but the experiments had to continue, and little aster was less a baby and more a test subject.

it is unknown how long aster spent locked away in the manor, how many years it took for them to grow from child to adulthood. all that knowledge was lost in the fire... the fire which liberated the child and allowed them to finally see the world, something they had only ever dreamed the wildest dreamed of.

traits: kleptomaniac, socially awkward, childish, erratic, cheerful.

A Historical Dragon: Globetrotter

A Nightwing from around three hundred years back, she created the Pyrrhia map, replacing the rough estimates of land with the most in depth continental mapping that is still used in current day. A ever wandering hermit, upon the completion of the map, Globetrotter left Pyrrhia to travel, and was never heard of again. Globetrotter is remembered as a tiny name in the margins of Nightwing printed maps and globes, the rest of her contributions lost to time.

On a snowy, windy nor'easter day in NYC, let's go back to somewhere warm and sunny for #traveltuesday, the Phi Phi Islands of Phuket in Thailand. My sister JulieAnne was with us on this trip. It was not long after we'd moved to Hong Kong and we flew her out to visit us there and then spent a long weekend in Phuket. The trip was the one time she left the US and I found her passport with these stamps in it when going through her things.
