Thinking about how Anya should still be in Kindergarten and not Grade School. She should still have story time and nap time and play times. How she should still be learning how to read and write and count and color.
No wonder her handwriting is a mess, why math confuses her, or how studying is a struggle for her. Why she falls asleep in class, why she doesn't understand the other kids games, and why she doesn't know how to socialise with other kids.
In fact, I bet Anya was also bullied for being weird and creepy in her multiple Orphanages. She was sitting alone when all the other orphans were grouped together. And let's not talk about her 4 other Foster homes.
She's a traumatised 4 Yr old trying her best to act like a normal 6 Yr old. And she's hanging on with barely passing scores.
And the majority of other characters thinks that she's stupid and dumb and clumsy. When in fact, she's a smart little cookie for a 4 Yr old girl.

Sometimes I think The X-Files is such a timeless and relevant show I forget it takes place in the 90s, and then I see a scene where Scully buys a whole bag of groceries for $11.14 and pays with a check

hot take!!! eddie saying “and seventeen seconds” introduces a new means to interpret the shooting, and creates a parallel so romantic i might break.
so—when eddie gets shot, we’re immediately oriented by the framing of the scene to observe from buck’s perspective, watching eddie go down in slow motion. we as viewers are purposely placed to experience the aporetics of buck’s temporality with him—that is, the way that buck’s experience of time becomes separated from objective, clock time. it takes twenty seconds of “clock time”, when you watch the shooting scene back, for mehta to wrestle buck to the ground, the slow motion to cease, and for buck to revert back into an objective experience of time, where things are—in reality—happening extremely quickly. he experiences something more than the objective instant that it would have taken, if we didn’t watch from buck’s perspective, for eddie to have taken that bullet, fall, and for mehta to react.
when buck gets struck by lightening, however, we don’t experience it from eddie’s perspective. we do slow down, very slightly, but only to capture how the instant of the lightening distorts the teams’ ability to comprehend what has happened. within five seconds, though, that slight lag is dismissed, and we’re reorientated back in objective time. we don’t live the experience through eddie’s consciousness, we don’t even see him go from the ground to the ladder. we miss things. we only watch eddie through the objective lens of the third party onlooker. this isn’t, in itself, anything to note. it only matters thematically and narratively because the writers choose, later, to revisit how eddie remembers that experience through an explicit acknowledgement of objective clock time. because, when he does, he rejects the way that we typically talk about time—organizing it through the construct of ‘minutes’, a thing we usually do imprecisely for the sake of brevity or ease. as was the case in the poker scene. eddie can’t do this though. he has to reiterate each second in order to account for his experience. maybe to reconcile how much he felt in such a short stretch of time with how short it sounds in the scheme of things. but a minute can feel like an eternity, sometimes. we all know that.
so, yeah. there’s something about the writers reminding us of time. particularly, exactly how much of it passed between the lightening and buck’s resuscitation, and having eddie be the first person to both acknowledge and stress the length of it—every second of it. they choose to remind us of how he lived each one of those, and how he did so through eyes that we weren’t privy to like we were when it was buck. we are asked in that simple line to consider how it may have felt, or what it may have looked like, for eddie’s conscious experience of those events within his temporal framework. which is so interesting when we consider how temporality is one of the most critical considerations for the study of human experience in the arts and humanities. temporality is also a distinctly queer phenomenon, as it challenges the normative conception of time through a personal reality that shapes our experiences. i’m not saying any of this was intentional, at least not all of it, but i’m not pointing this out because i think it suggests “buddie canon”. i’m pointing it out because there’s just something so poetic about it. there’s something poetic about having eddie reframe what we had heard others refer to, and construct, as ‘three minutes’, because it challenges that construction. it suggests that eddie’s experience of buck’s death cannot be rationalized or reasoned with because that’s not how we experience existential horror or fear. it isn’t how we experience love.
the way we experience time—our temporality—is perpetually at odds with clock time because we are not objective thinkers. there is, despite how nonsensical and manic my articulation of it is here (sorry), a parallel between the lightening and the shooting that is explicitly connected to time. namely, to both buck and eddie’s dialectical encounters with the others death within the social conception of time. this is why temporality is one of my favourite themes in love stories, because love is something we experience so viscerally that it can undermine even the most necessary of our human understandings—time.
and what we are presented with through this parallel is something i can’t quite shake—two men, suspended in time while the other starts dying, as though resisting the second where he finally does. fighting to defy the clock—which is to fight and reject the essential construct that we depend upon to comprehend our experience of the world—just to keep the other for a moment longer. it is the sacrifice that our brain makes in moments of immense trauma to save us from despair.
romantic and terrible.
i love it.

My Best Nightmare from the Undertale soundtrack is one of my favorite pieces of video game music ever, because it sounds unprecedentedly zany and deranged. I tabbed it out on bass myself back in 2016, and I still have no idea what the fuck is going on in this piece. It swings back and forth between ungodly dread and cutesy melodies from previous songs on the soundtrack and is so fucking frantic throughout, with the bass just doing whatever the fuck it wants. The fact that Toby Fox apparently had no music education at all is just terrifying to me.
I recently discovered a site called hooktheory that analyzes popular songs and identifies the keys and chords used. I don't know how accurate this site is, and I don't know if it's users, professionals, or even AI that comes to these conclusions. But from the segments I listened to, it seemed fairly accurate. So, I'm here to share with you some of the fun chords and modes Mr. Fox has used:
A Locrian, complete with disgusting, grossly dissonant diminished seventh chords.
D Locrian, mostly bouncing around the i and VII chords, of course most of them are diminished.
Eb Major for the first reprised melody from Your Best Friend, how delightfully harmonious!
F Lydian for the next reprise, all the chords are second inversions with suspended fourths, also the III is flattened. Okay, interesting, that's. Okay.
A Dorian for the third reprise, there's actually no chords here, it's just a melody in Dorian.
Now, it says the fourth reprise with the disgusting bass solo is A Locrian, but that's a lie. Well, maybe the bass solo is A Locrian, but the chords change so quickly that I can't be assed to read it. However, the melody is a whole tone scale, according to the transcription here. Whole tone scales don't even have a tonic. You're killing me, Toby.
Next, we jump to E Phyrgian, which doesn't even sound weird at this point.
Finally, the last reprise is back in standard harmonic territory, with D# minor. Sure, nearly every chord has a ninth, an eleventh, or a thirteenth added on, but this is finally some stable ground!
IN SHORT, this song is insane and I love it.

Loid enjoys shopping and dressing up his girls in cute, matching clothes.
All his disguise expertise channelled into making Yor and Anya look absolutely adorable to everyone around. And with him matching them signals to everyone that they're his. ^^
Yor's closet definitely expanded thanks to Loid's insistence of getting her new clothes, mostly in cute, cheery pastels. When before she only had 1 fancy dress, which was her assassin's dress.
Anya definitely only had that 1 black shirt dress, and Loid absolutely bought her every cute costume and dress she has now.
Tl;dr: Thank you Loid Forger for your impeccable fashion sense, you make your girls look absolutely amazing every time.

talkin about my Issues™ below the break
just a lil update and some context on my socmed withdrawal thing:
- been havin some weird psych episodes over the last couple weeks
- yesterday was the first anniversary of the death of a close loved one
- it feels like my foundations are undergoing liquefaction so I am very fragile mentally and socially
- in the past year I’ve experienced a lot of loss and that’s left me feeling very vulnerable
- im learning that some places I used to be able to call “safe” are no longer safe
- *gestures vaguely at my home country*
- I was verbally assaulted by a stranger at the pharmacy a couple days ago and im still very shook up from that
- I haven’t picked up a drawing tool for like two days (broke the trend an hour ago tho thank goodness)
- And Much Much More! lmao
Tumblr media
so just
I’m gonna be a little slow for a while.
I’m safe and I’ll be ok but shit’s just a lot all at once, you know?

[[ clothes make the cat -- hh fic. no reblogs, likes are ok. ]]
Over the top, colorful, blinding, and eye straining, are the closest descriptions I have for Maison’s clothing choice for me.
One dress is too plain, with it’s bright pink style that reaches half way down my thighs. The stripes of various colors that the shirts and pants are dyed in makes me believe I will stand out in this valley, in a very bad way. Even the accessories are gaudy, with how large they are -- some sunglasses are heart shape while the earrings are large disco balls!
But I did ask Maison for advice for clothes, so I can only blame myself for this. All my clothes are either black or white, which is kind of bland in comparison to him, even though his “clothes” are actually his skin. Which does make it interesting to know what he considerable fashionable.
Besides, even though I don’t really like his choices, it doesn’t hurt to try something new. Maybe I will grow to like it with time.
