Okie dokie. Here's the plan.
My goal for resuming the comic is February 4th. That's a ways away, but that also gives me time to get stuff done. With no more mandatory overtime at work, I should have more time to spare.
The only thing that could get in the way is if I just get real into my other projects, but I think sparing time to work on 1 comic page a weekend at LEAST should be doable.
I think since most of the asks in the ask box are very old, I'm just gonna nuke 'em, so if you sent something and you really want it answered, send it again and then when Feb rolls around I'll (maybe) answer those too.

I was gonna write a much bigger update on where I've been cause I feel bad, but also it feels weird to go super in depth about myself. So I scrapped that long explanation and will just say I had an anxiety attack earlier this month and it's made it hard to draw things.
I'm doing better now and am feeling inspired to maybe doodle things again soon, but I dunno when comics will happen again for me. I've been sketching on paper a fair amount which is encouraging, but digital is weirdly harder to do atm.

Rebels season 3 rewatch
Warhead
I think this is my fave 'filler episode - the combo of Zeb, Chopper and AP-5 is too good
Hobbie and Wedge crashing into each other and Zeb and Ezra fistbumping is too funny
AP is so slay I live for him
Zeb can't disappoint Hera
AP is such bitch and Zeb deserves none of this
I love when the droids drive
Kallus's little smirk! He's proud of his rebels!
The spooky Thrawn music!! Vampire energy lmao
Trials of the darksaber
Kanan immediately giving Fenn the darksaber means he trusts him omggg
Ugh the animated story is so good this show is so good
The art of the spectres!!
Chopper purring when Sabine pets him
Sabine sounds so betrayed when Hera asks her to use the darksaber
you know knowing what happens to that thing... this feels so much cheaper
The owls watching ooh
The teens are so competitive lmao
Fenn is like Sabine's grumpy yet chaotic uncle
Not Ezra dropping the 'at least you have parents' card
Hera and Sabine love Sabine so much
Sabine's speech at the end genuinely made me cry this time

Star Wars OC: Kytt Fenn
Tumblr media
picrew by Potatolord. (this is a very rough ref pic)
Name: Kytt Fenn "The Angel of Death"
Species: Force-sensitive Madalorian Human
Age: 23 in 19 bby.
Kytt is a Mandalorian bounty hunter that was active before and during the Clone Wars. Despite being force-sensitive with an average midichlorian count for a Jedi, he was not identified by the Order because he was lost after his parents were killed on Corellia when he was just 2 years old. He grew up on the streets of Corellia until he was 7 along with his best friend Koda Itah. He was eventually found by his clan and taken back to be raised as a Mandalorian. After several harrowing events while with his clan, Kytt eventually went off on his own to become a bounty hunter at the age of 18. He later got involved with Maul's criminal empire and ultimately paid the price for it when Maul eradicated Kytt's entire clan for not following his orders. This is where Kytt meets the Bad Batch, a few months before Order 66.
More information to come soon, but I will leave you with some art I made myself. A reference sheet for all the different paint designs Kytt will do on his helmet over the years.

New Mandalorians ARE the Canon Version of the True Mandalorians
Ok so, a long time coming but here's the gist:
I truly think that the New mandalorians are, to canon, what the True Mandalorians are to fanon.
Yes fanon, not Legends Canon because they aren't as good as people make them out to be in, you guess it, fanon.
Let's get on with it.
To start, let's established what I mean with Fanon True Mandalorians and Canon New Mandalorians.
New Mandalorians are show to:
Want to move on from their Imperialistic History
Not erasing any history (see: murals in the city) nor the language (see: the mando'a all over the city, in the Academy and Satine openly speaking it) nor even their warrior traditions (see: kids still knowing how to fight)
Seem to be the majority of the population, composed by a big mile by Non-Warrior AKA the majority of the population even before the civil war.
Are hated by the Death Watch
Are the middle ground
Want and Do focus on the non-warrior traditions and elite (after centuries of it being the focus on their sector), but not to the extreme of banning all warriors (see: The Mandalorian guard, the Protectors - who are lead by Fenn Rau) instead possibly asking the Warriors who Refused to back down to not start shit in return of having the least damaged planet/moon aka Concordia
Are trying to make Mandalore and it's people Better
Those outside of the Royal Guard and the police don't seem to wear armour, though those seem to not be the bounty hunting version of it and those who Don't wear it certainly seem to use clothes with the beskar heart - the Kar'ta Beskar - in them
Follow a more progressive type of government - out from the Warrior's Elite control and more into the non-warrior population (aka the majority of the population)
Don't seem to have problems calling non-warriors Mandalorians as long as they meet a certain criteria
The Fanon True Mandalorians, meanwhile (from what I could gather from fanfictions):
Warrior Focused but out of necessity because of the Civil War, but don't seem to want to focus All on the warriors
Are Hated by the Death Watch
Are the middle ground
Care about their culture
Don't seem interested in going imperialists
Are trying to make Mandalore and it's people Better
Wear Armour even outside of battle
Don't seem to be the majority of the population - fanon varies between them being a minority or being a big part of the population (or at least, the minority with the support of non-warriors)
Follow a more traditional Mandalorian Government
Don't seem to have problems calling non-warriors Mandalorians as long as they meet a certain criteria
From these, we can that they ARE similar, and if we go further into semi-canon (which is iffy but we are handling fanon while talking about canon, so I will allow it) we do know that the New Mandalorians and True Mandalorians were at least relatively neutral towards each other, imagine if the True Mandalorians were their fanon self? They would get along way better!
But that's not the point of this post, the point is to show how the New Mandalorians are the Canon Version of the True Mandalorians with a few tweaks - which I do think I already proved from the points alone.
Out of the 10 points I spoke about, 6 they immediately agree on (even if on the last points they need to have a conversation on what their mutual criteria would be), with the first and seventh point being an half point since they are in a civil war and seem to be part of warrior clans, and we were not shown any of the warrior clans in the New Mandalorians outside of Satine, a Pacifist that leads by example (hence not using her armour, especially because she might have trauma related to it), Korkie, a child that may very well not see the point to when everyone doesn't wear it + there is peace (maybe he only used it from traditional celebrations), and Almec, who doesn't wear the armour until there's a civil war again.
Either way, summed up it's 6 points out of 10 that they agree on, more than half.
The New Mandalorians could simply be the True Mandalorians but evolved post war, or, as I suggested in the start of the post, they ARE the Canon Version of the True Mandalorians.
Simply because they weren't wearing armour at all times or fighting or part of the War, people threw them under the bus as 'genocidal colonizers' (even though nothing in canon suggests otherwise, if anything it suggests the opposite).
Personal Thoughts: The Canon New Mandalorians and the Fanon True Mandalorians are a LOT more alike than people think and it's sad that all they can seem to write is 'New Mandalorians Bad, True Mandalorians the BEST EVER'.

SABEZRA DAY 2024
Prompt: Speaking Love Language/Free
@sabezraweek
*My AU; Ezra looks to communicate his feelings in a way Sabine will instantly understand.  If only his sources of guidance weren’t butting heads.*
“This right?”
“Almost.  It needs a bit more of a curve around…here.”
“That’s exactly where you pointed last time.”
“And it’s not right yet.”
“Why didn’t you say so before?”
“Do you want my help or not?”
“I’m seriously starting to wonder if I do!”
Throwing up his hands, Ezra marched away from the work bench, resisting the urge to smack the other man in the mouth.  He had been working on this for the past week, every second of his precious little spare time dedicated to making it perfect.  When preparing a gift for the woman you love, you naturally feel compelled to make sure it is just that.  On paper, consulting someone familiar with the designs you are tying to replicate would be an ideal situation.
In practice, the fact that the only one available is the brother of the object of your affection, a brother who seems to relish in being as annoying as possible, makes the situation a bit more complicated.
Tristan laughed at Ezra’s dramatic distress.  “If it makes you feel any better, it’s a lot closer than it was when you started.”
“Yeah?” Ezra replied sharply, “Well maybe, next time, get the big details right on correction #1, not #17.”
“I didn’t correct it that many times.”  Tristan protested.
Ezra rolled his eyes.  “Wanna bet?  I’ve been keeping track.”
“What’s all the commotion?”
Turning to the new voice, Ezra saw three men walking into the rec room.  One of them, garbed in a pilot’s fighter jacket, was only familiar to Ezra by reputation.  The other two, a second Mandalorian in blue armor and an officer with a dashing cape across his shoulders, were far better known.
“Hey, Lando, Rau.” Ezra greeted his friends.  He turned to the other two.  “Lt. Janson, right?”
“That’s me, sir.” The pilot responded with a light salute.
“At ease, at ease.”  He turned back to Lando.  “Not much.  Tristan’s just being difficult.”
“For the love of-“
“Relax, Tristan,” Fenn Rau reprimanded the younger Mandalorian.  “You should know better than to be baited by his teasing by now.”  Rau turned to the bench.  “Ah,” he realized, “still working on this little pet project for Sabine?”
“If I meet Master Wren’s exceptional standards,” Ezra flamboyantly gestured to a pouting Tristan, “it should be done soon.”  He held up his work for the others to see.  “What do you guys think?” he asked.
Lando nodded.  “Not bad.  Though I think working on it out here in the open might be risky.  In my experience, the best gifts come with an element of surprise.”
Rau groaned.  “Really, Calrissian?”
“Just giving him some pointers.”
Janson snorted loudly.  “From you?  That’s rich.”
“Like you’re one to talk,” Tristan shot back.  “Wasn’t it that Mirialan on Onderon that you scared off by eight parsecs?”
Janson’s face went red.  “it was one time, Wren, one-“
“Okay, enough.”  Ezra cut in before an argument about Wes Janson’s love life could break out.  “And to answer your question, Lando, don’t worry.  Everyone in this room is sworn to secrecy.”  He turned to the far side to the man in commando fatigues watching a holodrama.  “Isn’t that right, Dameron?”
Dameron paused his show and raised a hand.  “Silent as the grave, Commander!”
Sadly, Ezra’s attempt to avert conflagration were futile.  Janson regained a measure of his flair and turned to the commando.  “Oh,” he said in a slow, sarcastic tone.  “So he rejects our sage advise, but turns to you?”
Dameron got up at the challenge.  “He doesn’t ask anything.  If he did, though, I’d happily offer him tips.”
“Oh, so you’re an expert on romance?”
“Well, considering I’m the only one in this room who’s married, yeah, I’d say I am.”
“So what?  I’d actually be able to-“
“He didn’t want Calrissian’s schmoozing tips,” Rau cut in, “why would he want yours?”
“Schmoozing?” Lando blurted out in mild offense.  “I’ll have you know-“
“Oh, give it a rest.”
“I don’t see you adding anything, Wren.”
“Maybe because I don’t have anything to compensate for.”
“Why you little-!”
Whatever the conversation had turned to was thankfully muffled once Ezra slid the door to the rec room shut.  He considered putting the project on himself for a little extra filtering.
“Romantic advise isn’t that helpful tonight, is it?”
Turning around with a jolt, Ezra instinctively hid his gift behind his back, but relaxed when he saw the Twi’lek standing there.  He let out an exasperated breath.  “You have no idea.”
“You’d be surprised.” Hera grinned.  She turned to look at what Ezra was holding.  “So that’s what you’ve been slipping out to work on.”
Ezra nodded and looked down at it.  “I wanted to do something up her own alley, you know?  Show her how I feel in a way she can understand the best.”
Hera looked at the gift.  “I think it’s beautiful.”  She smiled warmly.  “Sabine’s going to love it.”
“You sure?”
Hera shook her head and placed a hand on his shoulder.  “Positive.  Besides,” she murmured as she walked off, “it’s not like she can’t already read you like a datapad.”
“Huh?”
“You’ll see.”
Ezra just shrugged.
XX
A few hours later, there was a knock on the door to Sabine’s cabin.  Setting her airbrush down, she walked over to answer.  She was greeted by the sight of her smiling boyfriend, who was holding a hastily wrapped mass in his hands.
“Hey.”
“Hey,” she answered brightly.  She gestured to the package.  “What’s that?”
“Let me in and I’ll show you.”
“Hmmm,” Sabine mused, “I don’t know.  Strange men coming to my door bearing unexpected gifts.  I think my mother warned me about such things.”
Ezra’s face warmed a bit.  “Strange? Lady Wren, I must protest.”
Sabine let out a laugh.  “Come on, get in here.”
Regaining his composure, Ezra smiled and strode into Sabine’s quarters, the door closing behind him.  The two sat on her bunk and Ezra passed her the present.
“Go on,” he said.  “Open it.”
Normal, Sabine would have been happy to play hard to get.  Even all these years later, that light teasing they engaged in hadn’t faded away.  Experience often allowed one to see things others would not be able to perceive so easily, and the two of them had a knack for wrapping their earnest remarks in layers of sass, a little puzzle to piece through.  Now though, her curiosity got the better of her.  She quickly tore the flimsi off in one swipe.
Her eyes widened at the sight before her.  It was a shoretrooper helmet, but decidedly non-regulation.  The tan helm was now a vivid magenta, with blue markings along the jowels and orange stripes across the nose.  The forehead was adorned with a pair of purple arches, with a bright green spot right in the middle.  It took only a few seconds for her to recognize the markings.  The Nite-Owl, just as what her own helmet bore.  And looking closer at the blue markings, she saw them clearly.  The jaig eyes, the mark of honor for courage.  A little stylized and not in the traditional place, but jaig eyes all the same.
“Wow,” she said in genuine wonder.  Ezra wasn’t exactly the artist type, yet she could see dedication a parsec away.  He had clearly gone the extra mile to do something in her own style.  Not quite as complex as her own work, but the care he had placed into this was undeniable.  “This is…Ezra this is amazing!”
“Thanks,” he said as he placed a hand behind his head in a bashful look.  “The helmet came from that mission to Valo a couple months back.  I asked Tristan about how to do the symbols right, though the hard part was finding the right shades of paint.”
Sabine’s eyes snapped back to the helmet at that last word.  Paint.  Color.  Ezra wouldn’t have chosen just anything.  Taking a careful look at the gift, she began to unpack what she saw.
In Mandalorian tradition, certain colors held significant meaning.  Many warriors were known to paint their armor with specific colors to represent their chosen undertakings and causes.  While Sabine had never been picky enough to stick to one hue for a mission, she knew the significance of these shades by heart.  She checked off what she saw.
Blue jaig eyes on the sides.  A green center to the Nite Owl.  The orange nose stripes.  The pink and purple base.
Blue, for reliability.  Someone who you could always count on come hell or high water.
Green, for duty.  For a person driven to uphold whatever they believed in and see it through to the end.
Orange, for a lust for life.  Someone who treasured every day, every experience, and everyone they shared it with.
Purple and pink had no explicit meaning to Mandalorians.  But they didn’t need one.  Those colors spoke of something more specific.  Someone more specific.  Someone who considered those colors her personal favorites.  Someone who exemplified all the other colors on the helmet, yet was something all her own.  Someone the creator of this masterpiece loved above all else.
Ezra had been babbling on about his ongoing work for the past minute, but the deep kiss she quickly pulled him into shut him up.  No other words were needed.  He could tell exactly what she was thinking.

So I got to thinking about how British accents are typically interpreted as Coruscanti or Core accents, which are in turn associated with privilege and high standing. and like. there is so much worldbuilding in that concept alone, particularly when you think about different characters' accents.
I should note here that I'm considering this only as the characters' accents in Galactic Basic, not applying to any other languages. That probably doesn't make much sense, but I'm going with it anyway. Also, disclaimer: I am not a linguist and have never claimed to be.
I figure with Jedi, accents in Basic don't actually mean much. You just pick up the accent of whoever's teaching it to you (if it wasn't already your first language) as the accent of your homeworld fades away. Unless, of course, there are other Jedi who speak your native language and help you keep the language and the accent. (Which has interesting implications for, say, the difference in Shaak Ti and Ahsoka's accents.)
But then you look at characters like Padme and Palpatine. They're from the same planet, but Palpatine speaks with that Core/Coruscanti accent, while Padme does not. I think the most likely answer is that Palpatine faked it until it became natural, to help him mingle with the Galactic elite, while Padme only used the accent specific to the Queen, and only when necessary.
It gets really fascinating when you get to the Mandalorians. Korkie, Almec, Satine, Fenn Rau, and Satine's guard, Aramis, also have the Core/Coruscanti accent. Bo-Katan, Sabine, and Pre Vizsla do not. That lends itself to a whole slew of implications, but I think the most interesting one is that the New Mandalorians were either taught or deliberately cultivated that accent in order to fit in with Republic elite and appear cultured or civilized, combating the stereotype of the brutish, war-like Mandalorian, while Death Watch embraced a more Outer-Rim accent as a rejection of that diplomacy and to show loyalty to the old ways. Sabine and Korkie would have picked theirs up from the people who raised them. Mandalorian Protectors (Satine's bodyguards) may have also been taught Basic with that accent to help them maintain their image while interacting with the Republic's elite.

Birthday Life Update or Whatever
Today’s my birthday, and the day one of my responsibilities that was taking priority over comics and personal projects is done. I can’t promise that means comics soon because I’ve got some video projects I wanna try to do, but I am at the very least free to pursue whatever project I choose now.

Figured I should probably life update.
It's been a looooong time since I've posted here. Various factors got in the way of art in general and I figure I need to at least post a text update if nothing else.
Where have you been?
I have been mostly gaming in my free time and lurking on the internet. I didn't realize it, but I guess social media had been chipping away at my mental health without me realizing it. Namely Twitter (it's gonna stay twitter forever to me, I don't care what it's actually called now). I wanna try to get active on tumblr again, but they changed the layout in such a visually suffocating way, I can't do that site right now either.
So I just lurk.
What about your art?
Art has been hard. As I've complained about a lot in the past, I have a full time job and this job has had me on mandatory overtime for 3 years at this point. I also have chronic pain episodes that- while they have improved- still occur on occasion.
So you haven't drawn at all?
I've drawn very little UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE art recently, but I actually HAVE drawn some Zelda-centric art. I just haven't shown it because it's extremely self-indulgent and I am aware that the one canon character I draw the most is one people tend to hate. (Revali. It's Revali. He's a jerk, but I love him and I love inventing Rito characters that both admire and acknowledge his skill- but also knock him down a peg.)
The future of your Undertale/Deltarune comics?!
There should still be a future, yeah. Problem is, it's been so long since the beginning of the comic, I've kinda... gotta figure out what the heck the story even is anymore. Cause I don't really like WD Gaster being a villain? And that's sorta how we framed him to be in the comic, but I don't like that anymore.
"Fenn, Gaster made Ralsei disappear. Or SOMETHING, we still don't know what happened to Ralsei."
Yeah, sorry 'bout that. I've said from the beginning that Ralsei isn't dead, and that's still true. Also if I do change Gaster's motives, the Flowey/Ralsei thing (Flowsei?) will remain the same. So basically what I'm saying is Gaster was framed kinda like a villain in the comic, but he may shift to just a very, VERY morally grey guy, and you'll understand WHY in time.
Aaaaaaaand Vesseltale?
Vesseltale's a weird one cause it's the secondary plot comic and it's still stuck on-hold in the best possible place to be on hold. I might have to write that comic to a point where the biggest twist of the AU is revealed and then just be like: "Okay, here's some bullet points about this AU cause I don't actually think I can make this a full comic."
And then have like... highlight comic series where I just draw out major scenes. Like how Frisk interacts with the altered versions of the characters in this time.
Final thoughts?
I wish I had more time to do art. I really do. It's just difficult to set time aside to do it because of work. It's easier to pick up the Switch to decompress while listening to Let's Plays on Youtube at the moment.
Once the Holidays pass, I think I'm gonna try to carve out time on the weekends specifically for doing art. I'd love to finish Defnodel Chapter 3 before Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 release.
Also be prepared, I might start posting Rito fanart on DA because I love the Rito. You have no idea how many headcanons I've created for these dumb birds. I love them so much.

CODVN but (some of) the princes play DND:
How they start playing, idk. Maybe it’s a dare. Maybe it’s a genuine, honest to god attempt from one of the princes to learn more about MC and her habits/hobbies/culture. Imo, Fenn probably did something and of course, the other princes got dragged into it.
Mc: DM
• is the one who introduced the game.
• Teaches the princes how to play
• tortures them when possible.
Toa and Guy:
• Wizards, because MC punked them.
• Convinced them they were the most powerful class at higher levels, neglected to inform them that they start with fuck all health.
• “Here’s this: if you’re so smart, why don’t you play a mundane who has to study magic? Humans play this class all the time, I bet you can’t handle it…”
• “You bet??? YOu BET?? Very well, speak less” *gets hit once, almost dies from 7 points of damage*
• Guy demands the opportunity to change his class, MC responds: “Okay! I’ll let you change your class— and everyone else will get the chance to multi class :)”
Toa: “multi… class?”
MC: “Oh, it’s when you get to reap the benefits of your character occupying two classes at once :)”
Guy grumbles, and falls into a stony silence.
• the two *barely* survive levels 1-3, but somehow they pull through. And suddenly, outside of game, they’ve started acting with a little more respect for those not magically gifted…
Fenn: Paladin.
• Still charisma based, so can still rizz and charm like Fenn is used to.
• But playing as a Paladin also serves as wish fulfillment, because that’s what DND is all about.
• You might be thinking, “A paladin?? But Fenn should be a Bard, it’s so clearly the best fit”. And I get you! But that’s exactly it— Fenn is already a Bard in his real life. Playing as one in game does nothing special for him. There’s no escapism, no fantasy. Here, he can be a knight in shining armor, upstanding and righteous, and all the other things not typically associated with Fenn. All the other things people don’t let him be, that his reputation prevent him from ever really achieving. Here, he can basically role play as Greyson. And honestly, who wouldn’t?
• is the first prince MC introduced the game to
• lowkey gets into it, and eventually does some of his own campaigns :)
Roy: Bard.
• Again, the name of the game is DND Wish Fulfillment. Roy looks up to Guy, who’s attribute is charisma. What class is based on that stat again? BARD. And now, Roy doesn’t have to be morally upstanding and perfect and unsoiled. He gets to be a little shit and enjoy it.
Lynt: I have no idea, NGL, but I’m thinking warlock.
• This is basically a DND joke— if you don’t know, warlocks have like, two spell slots. So if they want to cast more spells, they need to recharge, which is basically some form of rest.
• Don’t let this fool you, warlocks can be fucking BUSTED. Those two/three spell slots, they put them to fucking WORK. But they gotta get their rest in, dawg.
• in this way, they remind me of our sleepy boy. Quietly powerful as hell, but really only fuck around if they HAVE to. Otherwise, they kind of just mind their business.
Rio: Barbarian
• one of the easier classes to start with— and I know they’re ALL just starting, and I love Rio, but he can use the training wheels. Ain’t no shame in that.
• he approaches life in a way that’s very similar to barbarians: in a story, when Toa was telling him he was trying to put too much magic through too small an opening, Rio’s response was “oh, I know what to do! That just means I need to use EVEN MORE magic!” Like, shit, go off king.
• unlike some of the other princes, I don’t think he would be adverse to using melee over magic.
Lance: Rogue/Druid RANGER
• Lance gets to multi class because 1. I’m biased, and 2. I can see arguments for both classes.
• you may be thinking, “but shaaky, he’s the prince of wrath! His kingdom’s main export is mercenaries, ffs. Shouldn’t HE be a barbarian, or at least a fighter?” And again, I hear you! But, you gotta remember the magic words! Say em with me: “DND is wish fulfillment”. Lance fucking HATES how his kingdom is ran. That’s like, 80% of his story. He wouldn’t WANT to play a character built like that. Unless… it was for the people.
• correct me if I’m wrong, but Lance is the only prince who knows what it’s like to be poor. Not just a commoner, like actually destitute. He’s probably the prince with the most street smarts. And lowkey, he’s probably had to steal shit to survive at some point. He 1000% would ace the rogue class, and would probably stun the princes while he did it.
• Lance: “I loot the body”
Toa: “pardon?”
Lance: “I slit the guards throat, he fell over prone. I loot the body, for whatever valuables are on his person.”
MC: “make an investigation check”
Lynt: “…😨”
• Druid is there if he wanted to just fuck around and hang with animals.
• RANGER, oh my GOD ranger is RIGHT THERE, how did I miss that—
• Ranger is basically the flavor you get when you mix rogue and druid together, so it makes sense that it would fit Lance
• the man fucks off to the forest first chance he gets, everytime.
• just give him a bow already— he probably knows how to use it given his Ira background
• it’s the final battle, the other princes are up against the BBEG: Toa and Guy are on the brink of death, Roy and Rio are down, Fenn and Lynt are barely hanging in there— and then out of nowhere, a hissing noise rings out above everybody, followed by a sickening thwa-CHUNK. An arrow has lodged itself smack dab between the BBEG’s eyes, he falls over, dead. From 600 yards away, Lance’s character stands up, says “finally”, and leaves.
Other silly little head canons:
• instead of maps, MC uses magic to generate basically holograms of bosses and character minis.
The holograms move. So when the giant beast bellows, I mean it literally bellows, claws out and spittle flying and everything. More than once have the princes jumped back in their seats, genuinely scared by the images she generated.
Toa, traumatized: “Remember when I said you had no imagination?… I take it back. I take it all back…”
Guy, thinking to himself: if she ever did go evil on us, we’d be fucked…
• MC will call them on it if the princes lapse out of character.
MC will remind them their characters are, in some way very starkly, different from themselves, and for the story, those differences matter.
Guy: “what do you mean, he said he wouldn’t let us past?”
Mc shakes her head, does an accent: “gainst the rules, boy. Can’t be doing that”.
“Against the—?! You will LET ME PAST, you insolent mongrel—”
Mc: “roll to intimidate.”
Guy: “roll?”
Mc: “I’m sure, being a huffy prince of a powerful kingdom and all, demanding stuff usually works for you. But might I remind you, your highness— that you are playing a game. and in this game, your character is a scrawny, bookish sapling of a man who weighs about a third as much as the guard you’re talking to, and is around half his height. Tell me, what’s your charisma modifier?”
Guy frowns, but looks through his character sheet.
Guy: “… negative one?”
MC smiles: “Your character has the charisma of dragon piss filled boot. Which means you need a 16 or higher, otherwise this guard is going to laugh in your face and pat you on the head.”
Guy stares at MC, but says nothing.
Mc: “Now, your wisdom modifier?”
Guy: “what?”
Mc: “your wisdom modifier, what is it?”
He checks his sheet again.
Guy: “… it’s a positive 4.”
Mc: “you’re right, it is. Which is a hell of a lot better than a negative one. So, while it may not be intuitive, you’re going to be much more likely to convince this man to let you through if you utilize a wisdom based approach, as opposed to relying on charisma.”
Toa snorts: “what would you know of wisdom?”
Mc: “might I remind you that being an asshole is not listed as one of your character’s traits? Also, your character is currently otherwised engaged, trying not to die from missing the last step on the staircase. As such, you can’t hear this exchange.”
• Eventually, after getting familiar with the games mechanics, the princes do a campaign where they get isakied to Earth.
MC throws a lot of mundane shit at them, and they absolutely flounder trying to make any sense of it.
Guy: “Peanut butter?? What do you mean he’s allergic to peanut butter, what the devil is that??? Epipen??!”
Lynt, confused: “Almond milk?… how do they…?”
Toa: “I assure the woman that I am not, in fact, “tripping”, as she so claims. The floor is clear and level, and there are no staircases in sight.”
Fenn: “what do you mean he’s 63??? Good Creator, how long are humans lives again? Wasn’t it at least a 1000 years?…”

oh btw, i think what im gonna do for my star wars fic is write and publish it out of order, just cause i havent fully decided whether i'm gonna write Kytt's major backstory scenes or not yet and i'm revising and proofreading the first chapter ive written where Kytt meets the Batch for the first time..
my hang up is that i feel like i haven't given enough context into Kytt's personality for that chapter to be an enjoyable first one to publish lol
(if any mutuals who like the bad batch, or star wars in general, and ocs wanted to, I'd love to talk about it on discord or smth 👀✨️ maybe even make you an oc too🫣✨️)
