Come on 👀
Faramir
Ahhh yesss!!! Faramir!!
Faramir is one of my favorite characters from the LOTR Trilogy and I feel he deserves better. The poor guy constantly living in the shadow of his older brother, Boromir, in Denethor's eyes (the ass), but I love that Boromir and Faramir were very close. Faramir idolized his brother, and he wanted to make their father proud that he was willing to do anything - even ride off to his potential death. I'll just keep chanting that he deserved better - but he got a good ending, and that's what matters to me. <3
10/10 stars, the bestest boy who deserves the entire world.
I probably don't talk about LOTR as much as I should, but maybe that'll change lol it can't always be hobbit, I mean...LOOK AT THIS GUY.
Tumblr media
Such a great character with a great heart (I absolutely LOVE his interactions with Frodo and Sam), and honestly, one of my favorite quotes has to be:
I do not love the sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.

Oh, one of the other things about NOME and part-Elvish beardlessness: Tolkien says something to the effect that the beardlessness is one of the most enduring part-Elvish traits. You’ll get people who aren’t really very Elvish, but if there’s any amount of Elvish blood left, they’ll still be naturally beardless. And he particularly associates this with the House of Elendil’s descent from Elros, with a whole explanation of why that applies to the House of the Stewards also.
The short version is that Húrin of Emyn Arnen, while not a direct-line member of the royal house, was descended from Anárion and a recognized kinsman of King Minardil, which was part of the reason he was appointed to the Stewardship. We’ve known this was rattling around Tolkien’s head since POME, but it’s very clearly laid out in NOME in order to explain that Boromir and Faramir are Elrosians through Denethor and therefore beardless (+part-Elvish through Finduilas as well).
The thing I’m thinking is ... it’d be interesting if there was some kind of, hmm, cultural cachet around beardlessness? I know a lot of people are really into bearded Dúnedain, but if natural beardlessness is one of the most lingering marks of royal ancestry, it seems like it’d be kind of loaded, esp in Gondor. Has it affected the Gondorian aesthetic? Is it some Gondorian value of punk for a young man to grow a beard, or pretend to? Are there ever any misunderstandings with, say, the Rohirrim re: age/status/etc?
I do suspect that, although beardlessness ultimately derives from Elvish ancestry, the fact that in most cases it comes through the royal line would lead to it being more associated with Númenórean royalty than Elves per se. Gondorians care a lot more about Elendil than Turgon.

Next installment of Lord of the Rings AU: It's Fine, Everybody's Fine is Aragorn's coronation, at which Boromir W E E P S:
Tumblr media
I think in a circumstance where Boromir lives, or even just in interacting with Faramir in canon, Aragorn would be very aware of the optics of striding in out of the wilderness to take a throne that the line of stewards had been fighting and dying for in his absence (Thorongil cosplay aside). Cool thing is, in this AU, seeing the king's throne filled and experiencing Gondor at peace for the first time in living history is more than Boromir EVER hoped for.
Tumblr media
The day the White Tree sapling blooms, Aragorn wakes up Faramir and Boromir like a six-year-old on Christmas:
Tumblr media
And then there's that FIRST SUNRISE over the Mountains of Shadow, when day breaks over a defeated east that's clean and clear and Boromir WEEPS AGAIN because he NEVER THOUGHT he'd see such a thing and YES this is a THIRST TRAP why do you ASK
Tumblr media
Hell yeah I gave him a tattoo, it's the seven stars of Gondor plus a coastal rockrose that grows in sandy soils along the Mediterranean because I figure that's like Dol Amroth in honor of HIS MOM because I LOVE SYMBOLISM

Ten faves in ten fandoms
I was tagged by @saltedpin: thank you so much!!! 💙💙💙 (This took me way longer to put together than I thought, wow)
Tiger & Bunny - Nathan Seymour (aka Fire Emblem) What can I say about Nathan. She's my ultimate blorbo, despite being pretty much the opposite of the kind of character I usually fixate on. They're a successful, ultra-rich business owner but also the mom friend of the group; a wonderful mix of (literally) fiery fierceness and soft sensitivity; a big, phoenix-themed peacock with the heart of a small, cuddly lovebird. I love her to death. 💖 (Honorable mention to her future husband Buddy hero, Keith Goodman, aka Sky High, aka literally the bestest guy EVER.)
Star Trek: TNG - Data This guy was sort of a blueprint for my childhood weirdness. I live for characters who are supposedly non-human, but are actually the most human of them all; and Data, for all that he was vastly stronger, faster, and smarter (at least logically) than all of his friends, had a gentleness to him that made you forget about that pretty much all of the time. I've been wanting to hug him for about 35 years.
Yūri!!! on Ice - Yuuri When I started watching the show, I thought Victor would be my favorite, but when I began to truly understand Yuuri's character, there was no going back. He's so astonishingly real in the way he perceives himself as an utter failure while actually being amazing and very successful. He manages to give me a glimmer of hope, at least sometimes, that maybe I might manage, with some effort, to not be quite as much of an absolute disaster as I fear.
The Lord of the Rings - Faramir If I had to sum Faramir up in a word, it would be unassuming. He's constantly treated (mostly by his father, but also by part of the narrative) as someone who's an afterthought, a second best, a spare; all this in spite of being incredibly smart, and learned, and competent, and kind. He's just... really lovely, and although he ends up with Éowyn as sort of (again) a second choice after Aragorn, I say: Éowyn, my beloved badass, you kind of won the lottery there.
Anime Sanjūshi - Aramis (Yes, Italy apparently got ALL of the anime back in the '80s, lol.) This anime adaptation of The Three Musketeers takes quite a few creative liberties with the story, and one of them is making Aramis a woman in disguise. She kicks just as much ass as any of her companions (most of whom never find out her secret), and at the end, after completing the personal, romance-related quest she joined the Musketeers for, she... keeps her male disguise and her job, presumably forever. A+, no notes.
Stargate: Atlantis - John Sheppard One of the very few "military jock, ace pilot, dude with a big gun" protagonists I've ever liked, mostly due to the fact that Sheppard is technically all of the above things, but really he's just as much of a geeky, socially inept loser as the scientists he was hired to bodyguard, cosplaying as the jock with a gun because he really loves the "piloting things that fly really fast" part. Add in a self-sacrificial streak about a galaxy wide, and I was sold.
Sailor Moon - Haruka Tenō, aka Sailor Uranus 13-year-old me saw Haruka and fully went "man, I want to be her!" And then, many years later, I realized that I had also probably been wanting her, period. 😅 The anime got censored to hell and back, of course, but I'm the kind of person who takes things I'm told at face value, so I saw her being incredibly dramatic and jealous and infatuated and totally willing to die for her "best friend" and went "yeah, I guess that checks out". I still vaguely thought that she would make the perfect "boyfriend", as she was the coolest person ever, lol.
The Adventure Zone: Balance - Taako I still can't believe a podcast that started out as essentially "how many dick jokes can we fit into 60-90 minutes of butchering the rules of D&D" ended up being one of the most significant pieces of media in my life, but hey, to quote Taako himself, "It’s not all abraca-fuck-you and what have you. I have a beating heart! I’m multi-dimensional! I’m a fully-realized creation! FUCK!" Taako's vulnerability is hidden under MANY layers, but when it comes out, it hits straight to the heart.
Yūki Bakuhatsu Bang Bravern - Lewis Smith I'm throwing my most recent fandom in here, because why not. Smith (yeah, I know) is an apparently extremely stereotypical "American Pilot Guy" character (don't look him up, because the show is best experienced without spoilers, but I promise you, he looks just like he could be Keith Goodman's twin), but in a show that is always at least three genres at once, in very varying degrees of seriousness, he ends up being one of the most genre-aware characters of all, with... interesting consequences.
Good Omens (TV) - Crowley This one is interesting because in the book, my favorite character was always, very clearly and very firmly, Aziraphale. And then the tv show happened, and yeah, I'm not immune to the David Tennant Effect, by any means, but... You know that post that's been going around, that says something vaguely like "the best trait a male character can have is being pathetically in love with someone"? Well. Crowley is not a male character, but in the show he embodies pining. Pining pours out of each and every one of his probably non-existent pores 24/7, non-stop, for millennia. And I... kind of like pining. A reasonable amount. It's fiiiiiiiiiiiine.
I am tagging YOU! 🫵 But only if you want to play, of course! 😂💙

what was your first build for er and which one is your favourite?
I havent messed around with builds too much. The first half or so of my very first run I tried basically cosplaying as Faramir from Lord of the Rings, with a focus on arcane and faith. Tbh i didnt know what I was doing and just flailed around a lot Now I primarily run Darian or Rogier cosplays with appropriate stats. I'd like to do a bloodmage build but there are so few sorceries for it unfortunately. Also considering a necomancer build with death magics. And sometimes I toy with the idea of trying to craft a build based on Eochaid with what little we know of it. It might just end up an Elemer cosplay though lol I have to put more thought into it.

Just a little ✨sneak peek✨ at the collar for Eowyn. OH. MY. GOODNESS. I am thrilled hahah. I had to burn away the support fabric on the lace. And yes I mean literally with a lighter (carefully) and then glued it to the fabric so that I could hand sew it on there before I put it all together.

This was easily the most difficult part of this project so far and I’m so happy it’s done. 🥹 I may have this completed before next week!!!

//So I have been playing LOTR Heroes of Middle Earth and I just got to the part where I see the whole house of the Stewards that they have so far and I will share the pictures with y'all.
First we have Denethor who kind of makes me thing he was trying to cosplay as a wizard.
Tumblr media
Next is Boromir who looks so young. He is now the family baby.
Tumblr media
Lastly we have Faramir who looks like he wants someone to test their luck at 100 paces.

Rules: List Five Comfort Characters And Tag Five People.
Tagged by @organchordsandlightning
ok well jack reflected on the definition of a comfort character for hers. I, however, am simply going to preface this by saying my therapist recently told me i was doing so well we could go down to once every three months. So, there.
1. John Doe (Malevolent): I am starting out cheating a little bit because fandom John is far more the source of comfort than canon John, but the grip he has on me is simply too powerful not to put him on this list. He’s a stranger to the world, he’s trying his best, he doesn’t know what a wheelchair is, he keeps fucking up but he cares so goddamn much.
2. Jonny D'ville (The Mechanisms): He's an asshole but he can spin one hell of a yarn and I will always listen. Plus, "Old King Cole" from Once Upon A Time In Space was the first song I sang along to after my voice changed, so there's a lot of gender euphoria in the mix.
3. Ignis Scientia (FFXV): Speaking of gender euphoria, Ignis was the first character I cosplayed after realizing I was nonbinary. (It's not that I had never dressed up as a male character before, it's just that somehow that had never tipped me off.) Anyway, I have spent a lot of hours on the contouring and scar makeup to channel my beloved nerdy British twink.
4. Faramir (Lord of the Rings): like do i need to say more here or--
5. Sibling Dex (A Psalm for the Wild-Built): so first of all this book is a big warm hug that will quite literally hand you a mug of tea and ask what's on your mind and tell you, "would you like to imagine a world of small comforts?" But the thing I love about Dex specifically is that, in a near-utopian world that has chosen to elevate compassion and recognize the dignity of all sentient life, Dex is still managing to have an existential crisis. And I love that for them.

Bien le bonsoir 🤗
While I am thinking about how to answer back to you, let me return the favour:
9/10/13/14/24/26/27/31
[If it's too much, feel free to choose whatever question you prefer the most... I went slightly overboard 🤭]
Tumblr media
[Aww look at this cutie 🥰]
'Slightly overboard'. XD
Leeeeet's goooooo! :D
9. What calms you down?
Usually, listening to music does the trick. Hans Zimmer's music, to be precise. Most of the time, it's this gem that gets blasted through my eardrums until I'm either calm or crying my feelings out:
youtube
10. What's something you're excited for?
Good question... My next holiday to London in summer? I'm taking my Dad, who turned 60 last week. He hasn't been to the UK for seven years, even though he loves it, so I'm taking him in a little father-daughter trip. Can't wait! :D
13. What's your comfort food?
Anything that I can cook that empties my head while making it. Usually it's waterzooi (Belgian girl over here) because I LOVE IT.
(Although, I'll admit, when I feel particularly shitty, NOTHING can beat a good portion of Belgian chips. <3 )
14. Favourite feel-good show?
The IT Crowd. I can quote it my heart and yet I'll laugh as if it's the first time all over again. I LOVE THOSE IDIOTS!
Tumblr media
24. What's something you do to de-stress?
I listen to Hans Zimmer or Sigur Ròs; I dance; I write.
26. What move would you want to live in?
THE LORD OF THE RINGS!!! I know as a woman I wouldn't have a lot to do or say, but with Eowyn by my side, I'd be up to shaking things up a bit (and snatching Faramir from her hands, sorry darling). XD
Tumblr media
(Also, I'd get up to shenanigans with those two bitches because they are the BEST.)
27. Which character would you want to be?
I've always been OBSESSED with Tonks from Harry Potter, because she made it alright to be clumsy, different-looking, a bit cookie, quirky, loud and...depressed, heart-broken and loyal. I LOVE HER.
(Which is why I often cosplay her at ComicCon.)
31. Which kind of fandom trope is your daily litre of water?
Too many to count. XD But since I'm binge-reading some Sterek at the moment, I'd say the 'mates' trope is always a go-to. And I'm a proud believer in the supremacy of 'idiots in love'. XD Also, Enemies to Lovers slaps!
Thanks for the ask, darling! <3
