This is the blessed life-not anxious to see far in front, nor eager to choose the path, but quietly following behind the Shepherd, one step at a time. The Shepherd was always out in front of the sheep. He was down in front. Any attack upon them had to take him into account. Now God is down in front. He is in the tomorrows. It is tomorrow that fills men with dread. God is there already. All the tomorrows of our life have to pass Him before they can get to us.

They that bear Christ’s company must prepare for squalls. Yet, why should we fear, when the Master is on board, who can impress His commands on wind and sea-to the wind, Peace; to the sea, Be still! “The Lord on high is mightier than the waves of the sea.” A moment ago he was so weary as to sleep amid the storm, but at a word of appeal from those He loves, He shows Himself able to save to the uttermost. ~ F.B. If we would be Holy Spirit-taught and guided, we must die to ourselves, to sin, and to the world; no longer seeking anything for ourselves in this world.

Do not be content to be strong against evil; be eagerly ambitious of good. It is easier to be vehement against the abominations of others than to judge and put away your own secret sins.

You Will Still Have to Deal with God
Every one of us must deal with God. Every one of us must, at some time, face God. Every one of us must be prepared to give an account to God. For, as Scripture says, “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do” or “to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13). F.B. Meyer once reflected on this…

Philippians 3:10 "That I might know Him..." ~ F.B. Meyer
F. B. Meyer calls it “The Soul’s Quest for the Personal Christ.” Meyer wrote We may know Him personally intimately face to face, Christ does not live back in the centuries nor amid the clouds of heaven, He is near us, with us, compassing our path in our lying down and acquainted with all our ways. But we cannot know Him in this mortal life except through the illumination and teaching of the Holy…

why faith is enough
"o our God, will You not judge them?  for we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You." 2 chron 20:12 there are times when we can almost throw up our hands and exclaim. "Lord, i just don't know what to do."  these are times we feel helpless.  it is then we must let it rest in the hands of our Lord.  if we have prayed, if we have diligently sought His will and guidance, then we must trust in God's providence.  "trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." prov 3:5-6 our God is Jehovah of hosts, who can summon unexpected reinforcements at any moment to aid His people.  believe that He is there between you and your difficulty, and what baffles you will flee before Him, as clouds before the gale. — f.b. meyer when nothing whereon to lean remains, when strongholds crumble to dust;when nothing is sure but that God still reigns, that is just the time to trust.’tis better to walk by faith than sight, in this path of yours and mine;and the pitch-black night, when there’s no outer light is the time for faith to shine.
i remember a time when i had a big cookout planned and invited many from church.  the day came and it was nothing but rain, doom and gloom.  i was disheartened and sure it would be a big flop.  my good friend and mentor (paula) was with me, helping me to set up everything.  i remember she kept thanking the Lord for such a beautiful day.  she was looking beyond what is, to what could be.  and indeed, to what would be.  the rain stopped.  the sun came out and the fellowship was wonderful. "abraham believed God, and said to sight, 'stand back!' and to the laws of nature, 'hold your peace!' and to a misgiving heart, 'silence, thou lying tempter!'  he believed God." — joseph parker sure, there are times when things don't turn out the way we want them to.  those may be the times of greatest faith, because we still believe "all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." rom 8:28 paul prayed three times for deliverance from the messenger of satan buffeting him.  what was God's reply?  "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." 2 cor 12:9 when you come against your mountain of human obstacles, and we all will, keep trusting in the Lord and remember, "the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 pet 1:7 yes, faith is always enough because Jesus is, "the author and finisher of our faith." heb 12:2

The Spirit of Competition TGIF Today God Is First Volume 1 by Os Hillman
12/03/2023
"I in them and You in Me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me." - John 17:23
A story is told about F.B. Meyer, the great Bible teacher and pastor who lived a century ago. He was pastoring a church and began to notice that attendance was suffering. This continued until he finally asked some members of his congregation one Sunday morning why they thought attendance was down.
A member volunteered, "It is because of this new church down the road. The young preacher has everyone talking and many are going to hear him speak."
His name was Charles Spurgeon. Meyer, rather than seeking to discourage this, exhorted the entire congregation to join him and go participate in seeing this "move of God" as he described it to his congregation.
"If this be happening, then God must be at work." Meyer, even though he was an accomplished preacher and teacher, recognized where God was at work and joined Him in it. [The author heard this on a radio show from Key Life Ministries with Steve Brown, based in Orlando, Florida.]
Can you imagine this story taking place in our competitive world today? Competition has penetrated the Church so much that many churches and Christian organizations approach ministry like a sports event. They view their mission as a business that seeks to gain market share among Christians - donors, members, influence - all under the name of God. I am sure God looks down at us and asks, "Whatever happened to John 17:23?" Sometimes we must remind our fellow servants that we are all on the same team! We should be seeking to impact the Kingdom of God, not increase our own market share.
When Jesus made this statement about unity in John 17:23, it represented the key to bringing salvation to many. He was saying that when His Body is unified, the non-Christian would be able to see who Jesus really is - the Son of God. Are you contributing to unity in the Body of Christ? Or are you contributing to a spirit of competition? Ask God where you can be an instrument of unity in His Body.
