May i request savanaclaw + rook with a vegan s/o? (Not the toxic type that guilt trips people who actually eat meat plz) thank you :)
A/N: Sure! I wouldn’t have written that type anyways lol. Being vegan is a lifestyle that many people choose for various reasons. The vegans that I know in real life are super nice! They’ve actually given me health tips and know so much about food (even for food that isn’t vegan). The toxicity of veganism is an unfortunate stereotype that many people in the group face, and I would never want to support it. Vegans and their advice are the reason my stomach issues aren’t so bad anymore lol
Leona Kingscholar
Well, guess his nickname wasn’t a stretch after all
Like Ruggie (see below) he does not necessarily care so long as you don’t push your habits onto him
He will not stop eating his grilled cheese. Not even for you
I think he would do well to accommodate you though. Back at the palace, he would send an advanced notice to the chefs about your dietary preferences. You don’t need to say nothing upon arrival because they already know your favorite snacks, meals, etc. and have specially altered their cultural dishes to meet your needs :)
I think he would be willing to try anything you give him at least once. He might groan a bit, but hand feed him and he’ll taste anything you want him to try!
Ruggie Bucchi
I think Ruggie would take a large interest in vegan living. Why? Because it is healthy and sustainable for people on a budget
Do you understand how easy it is to feed a family a nutrient balanced meal when tofu is an option? Meat is super expensive even in Twisted Wonderland. If not to buy, then to hunt. If you are going out hunting then you have to sacrifice time that could be spent working. Not to mention that the area Ruggie grew up in is a near barren wasteland
Tofu on earth was invented as a famine food. It’s nutrient heavy, filling, and cheap. If you are willing to share recipies with it then he is going to be in your debt
Or milk. Milk is already nutrient dense, but milk from nuts? Not only is it slightly sweet and more palletable for children, but it’s easily attainable. Ruggie could easily have his home town start a nut farm but to raise farm animals? Much more difficult
Look. Yes, Ruggie is from Sunset Savanna where beast-folk are dominant. Yes, there is the association between beast and carnivore. Ruggie could honestly care less though. He eats what he’s given.
If you’re worried about the negative stigma and him associating you with it? Don’t. The way you live is your choice and Ruggie enjoys learning about the health benefits of being vegan.
Jack Howl
Something speaks to me. It says that Jack is a health nut and is way ahead of the game.
He isn’t vegan, but definitely eats many “vegan” dishes and items for their health benefit
Example A: Chickpeas. High in protein, versatile, keep him satiated at spelldrive practice
My manz here loves himself some chickpeas
Like Ruggie, he wants you to teach him recipes. Preferably things that are easy because he likes quick snacks
One thing I see him doing is double checking your food whenever you two go out. You know how animal noses are able to define distinct scents even when they are masked by others? I feel he could take a whiff of your food or one bite and tell if it has animal products. Your little taste tester at resteraunts
King respects your life choices, and will do his best to coexist with you despite his love for beef jerky
Rook Hunt
Will you stop him from hunting? If yes, then there may be a slight problem. If not, then honey Rook will still love you
You may be able to convince him to only catch and not kill. However, it is super unlikely due to his devotion to his hobby and his upbringing. He won’t kill in front of you. That he can promise
He can also promise to not bring his game near you or have it at meals. He himself will not go vegan, but at the very least he is willing to keep his hunting prizes away from you.
When he goes out, he may look around for something you would like instead. Rook is like a cat, wanting to bring home prizes to show you. Instead of game, he may bring back forrest mushrooms etc. that he finds out instead!

-Salmon Bagel-
You were never known for your culinary skills, but you feel you can manage what essentially is a sandwich. Carefully you cut the bagels, unevenly, then spread out cream cheese, adding more to the shallower parts of the bread. Next is the salmon, the crux of the meal. Your mentor is a Miqo’te, there’s no question he will love it. You pull the chunks out of a package, having had no interest in fishing them fresh from the river. You fold the layers onto the cream cheese evenly then cover them with the tops of their bagels, doing your best not to let the spread spill out over the edges. In the distance, you see the red of your mentor’s coat stand out, already hurrying over to enjoy your lunch.
-Fried Squid-
Three books are laid out before you, all with instructions on how to prepare the breading for the squid. You are unsure which recipe will satiate your older companion the most, but know well that he’ll appreciate the gesture. Making a decision, you began to whisk the eggs, letting your silver carbuncle lick whatever splashes to the floor at your feet. You heat the oil while you dip the squid into flour, the egg, and then cover it in breeding. Carefully, you impale each one on a stick then dip it into the oil, watching them bubble then start to brown evenly. Admiring your work, you set them aside to dry. You close your eyes a moment, imagining the praise you’ll receive from the Dragoon when he tries it.
-Also Fried Squid-
You hand over to the stall attendant in exchange for two sticks of fried squid, offering the second to your young Auri companion. You wouldn’t dare chance stepping behind a stove.
-Beef Jerky-
You had sliced the meat a day before and left it to marinate in a bowl of brown sugar, soy sauce, W’orcestershire Tia sauce, and several other common spices from their kitchen. This was a special treat, a taste of Gyr Abania, your husband’s home. Your tail twitches with excitement as you lay out the meat on a rack, careful not to disturb the foil underneath lest he cringe at the touch. Your heart swells with pride as you put them in the oven on low heat, knowing that the gesture will allow you both to have a little adventure and eat well too.
-Cheeseburger-
Your send your dear friend’s husband off for lunch with your own pocket money. Another letter has come and research will take you both into the wee hours of the night. You know he’s looking forward to an adventure with his love, but it will have to wait. Luckily he’s well known for being pacified through his appetite.
-Toast-
You sigh, throwing out another set. Now that you are home you thought you’d be able to practice some basic home skills...You’ve been through a loaf and a half now trying to brown each side of the slices. You soon give up.
-Pizza-
Feeding the Scions is never an easy task and you are no culinarian. Still, there are simple things you know how to do. Upon a stool you roll out the dough with a rolling pin, then roll out the red sauce evenly. You then shave mozzarella across the top of the pie. Next comes the toppings, spreading sausage chunks out evenly before little petite slices of pepperoni. Only half of the pizza you cover in peppers and onions, knowing well at least one of the twins will fuss about the greens and the Miqo’te the onions. Though the meal is larger than you, you gracefully hold the tray above your head and get it into the brick oven with ease. You send word to the others that dinner will soon be ready.
-Coffee Biscuits-
The girls sent you some from the first. You’re unsure if she would have liked them, but know she’d appreciate the gesture. You sit by the marker with her name on it, placing lilies at the base along with the small white bag with a light blue ribbon around the top to protect the cookies inside. You sit beside her, telling her of your adventures of wherever you’ve gotten to lately. You finish your snack, but don’t leave immediately…parting is always the hardest part.
-Archon Loaf-
You doth consider the endeavor briefly, but only briefly.
-Chamomile Tea-
You find two saucers and the cups that match with patterns whose beauty is understated just like your dear friend who you are attending to. Your ear twitches, just a little as you hear the kettle your mentor had gifted you upon your ascension to Archon prepare to whistle. You remove it from the heat with your tail as you open the jar of tea sachets you set aside just for her visits, placing one in each cup. Soon, you fill each cup equally with warm water, letting them steep until the water is a light amber and the aroma wafts up with the steam. You set a sprig of lavender in each one before picking them up to serve, hand channeling the aetheric heat from your loved one’s, knowing the exact temperature she likes.

Rae what do you normally buy in a grocery run? I am single for the first time in my adulthood and I cook but my ex would decide the groceries.I know if I want to make lasagna I need to buy sauce and whatnot all that but what do you buy to have on hand for times you don’t want to plan?
so first of all, i was in your shoes a year ago and it took me a LONG time to start cooking again. take it slow! buy prepackaged when you can, if that makes it likelier for you to eat healthy. i used to cook pretty much all my meals and... then i broke up with my ex and got sick and fell into a depression and just recently clawed out of it. so now i supplement a lot with bagged salad because otherwise i won't eat vegetables fjadskl.
here is my guide! i copy/pasted this from my last couple of grocery runs. this is what i do to get me through like 2-3 weeks and it includes staples:
ingredients you need for whatever you plan to cook that week
1 type of vegetable you like (i always go for broccoli because it's nutritious and easy to cook in lots of dishes like pasta, or a side, etc.)
1 type of frozen protein (i usually go for pre-marinated salmon and edamame)
some canned beans
some canned tuna
canned tomatoes
pasta sauce or tomato paste
bread
some fruit you like/can eat raw (apples, melons, berries)
1 produce that will keep for a while (potatoes, apples, carrots, squash, etc.)
some bagged, prewashed salad (good as a meal with some protein or a side)
if you don't like bagged salad: some greens + yummy salad toppings + yummy salad dressing (splurge on the good stuff here if that makes you likelier to eat it)... spinach and kale are good options because you can eat them raw or easily add the to almost any recipe
pasta, rice, or quinoa
greek yogurt or cottage cheese
for snacks:
hummus
cheese sticks
pepperonis or prosciutto or beef jerky
crackers
fun chip (like potato chips, doritos, whatever)
cookies
whatever individual-portioned dessert you want: pudding cups, a little ice cream sandwich, w/e!
and for some meal ideas:
bagged salad + package of tuna (i like caesar salad or dill salad)
spaghetti with ground turkey
microwaved sweet potato topped with cottage cheese or greek yogurt, butter, lots of seasonings
picadillo (ground meat + diced potato w/ canned tomatoes and spanish rice)
mac n cheese from a box + broccoli florets mixed in while the pasta boils
snack plate! cheese, pepperoni, crackers, cottage cheese, berries, and carrots with hummus
cottage cheese on toast topped with evoo and seasonings

if you like beef jerky a lot, i highly recommend making your own. if you have the tools, it's WAY cheaper than buying it. if you already own a dehydrator OR a nuwave oven (thats what i use) its super easy. buy thin sliced steak (i just get it at walmart. it should be less than 1/4 inch thick). find a recipe for a marinade or whatever spices you like. i made my own with teriyaki + some other spices and shit. cut it into little strips and marinade the steak overnight. then lay it out in the nuwave/dehydrator and put it on low temp for like an hour and keep checking it and cooking til its done. for me to make this i only need to buy the steak + the teriyaki sauce. in total it's usually about $12. that gives me over a pound of jerky total. in comparison a bag of jack links jerky weighing 6 oz is over $10. like its truly not worth it to buy beef jerky for me anymore. but i guess this is only really an option if you already have a method to cook it. otherwise a dehydrator/nuwave is expensive

I separated these from raw ingredients because they either are foods/drinks on their own but are included in recipes, or involve a certain amount of cooking/processing to make them that separates them from those listed in raw ingredients. However, like with raw ingredients, I’ve only included items that are mentioned or shown in game for easy reference. Should you want to find additional and “speculative” ingredients you can visit this post or the master post.

Tumblr media
In today's fast-paced world, maintaining a balanced and healthy diet is more important than ever. One key aspect of a healthy diet is incorporating high-protein snacks into your routine. Not only do these snacks keep you full and satisfied, but they also help build and repair tissues, support immune function, and assist in weight management. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore three powerhouse protein snacks: Greek yogurt, nuts, and jerky. From their nutritional benefits to their versatility in meal-prepping, we'll cover it all. Section 1: The Nutritional Powerhouse - Greek Yogurt Greek yogurt has rightfully gained fame for its delicious taste and numerous health benefits. Packed with essential nutrients such as calcium, vitamin B12, and probiotics, it has become a staple in many households. Furthermore, it is an excellent source of protein, making it an ideal snack for those seeking to boost their protein intake. Whether enjoyed on its own, blended into smoothies, or used as a healthy substitute for sour cream or mayonnaise, Greek yogurt offers endless possibilities to incorporate more protein into your diet. Section 2: Nut-Nourished - The Power of Nuts Nuts, both savory and versatile, offer a great way to supplement your protein intake while enjoying a satisfying snack. Whether you're a fan of almonds, cashews, or walnuts, nuts come in various flavors and textures to suit your taste buds. Beyond protein, nuts provide a host of other essential nutrients such as healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They are also known to improve heart health and aid in weight management. Grab a handful of nuts for a filling snack on the go or include them in your favorite recipes to add a delightful crunch and boost of protein. Section 3: Satisfyingly Savory - The Allure of Jerky Jerky, traditionally made by drying and salting meat to preserve it, has evolved into a popular high-protein snack loved by many. With flavors ranging from classic beef to unique options like turkey or salmon, jerky ensures there's something for everyone. Beyond its convenience and portability, jerky offers a healthy dose of protein without the added sugar or unhealthy fats found in many other snack options. Whether you're hiking, working, or just need a quick bite, jerky is an excellent choice to keep you energized and satisfied throughout the day. Conclusion Incorporating high-protein snacks like Greek yogurt, nuts, and jerky into your daily routine can significantly contribute to your overall health and wellness. Simple Ways to Boost Your Protein Intake
Explore simple methods to increase your protein intake using various sources like legumes, cheese, and protein-enhanced foods for a balanced diet.
Tumblr media
Consuming adequate protein offers several benefits such as hunger control, muscle development, bone health, metabolic stimulation, and weight management. However, balancing a busy life with health goals can present a challenge. To aid you in achieving your dietary needs, here are simple ways to incorporate more protein into your day, including some expert dietitian recommendations.
Here simple ways to boost your protein
1. Prepare a protein-rich meal or overnight parfait: Cooking a meal with high-protein ingredients, such as grilled chicken, quinoa, and a fresh salad, provides substantial protein to your diet. However, this option may require a bit of extra preparation time. Alternatively, prepare an overnight parfait containing Greek yogurt, nut butter, seeds, and nuts for a quick and protein-packed meal.
2. Incorporate milk into your smoothies: Enhance the protein content of your morning or mid-afternoon smoothies by using milk and ingredients like nut butters, seeds, and protein powder. Besides fruits or vegetables, consider the addition of varying types of milk. For instance, replacing almond or oat milk with cow's milk in your smoothies will significantly increase your protein consumption, thanks to the high protein content of cow's milk.
3. Boost oatmeal with protein powder: Transform your fiber-rich oatmeal into a protein-packed meal by stirring in a scoop or two of protein powder. Not only does this increase the protein content in your oatmeal, but it also enhances the flavor, resulting in a more satisfying and nutritious breakfast.
4. Opt for beef jerky as a snack: If you find it difficult to meet your protein goals amidst a busy schedule, choose portable, non-perishable snacks such as beef jerky. High in protein and easy to carry, beef jerky provides a quick solution to fuel your body while you're on-the-go.
5. Indulge in eggs throughout the day: Eggs are versatile and packed with protein. For example, enjoy a morning omelette, munch on hard-boiled eggs as a protein-rich snack, or add a fried egg to your dinner for an extra protein boost. Their diverse usage ensures you can fit them into any meal or snack time effortlessly.
6. Utilize Low-fat Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt, especially the low-fat version, is a protein powerhouse. It's a versatile ingredient that can be used in several ways, from a yogurt parfait with granola and fruit for breakfast to an afternoon smoothie to a garnish for meals. You can even use it as a substitute for mayonnaise or sour cream in recipes to increase the protein content while keeping the dish creamy and delicious.
7. Add protein-rich nuts and seeds to your meals: Nuts and seeds such as almonds, pumpkin seeds, and hemp seeds are filled with protein and can easily be added to various dishes. Incorporate these into your meals by sprinkling them onto salads, mixing them into grain dishes, or blending them into smoothies. They not only increase the protein content but also add a tasty crunch to your food.
8. Choose quinoa over rice: Quinoa is a complete protein, meaning it contains all nine essential amino acids your body needs. If you're looking to add more protein to your meals, swap out rice for quinoa. You can use it just as you would rice – as a base for stir-fry, mixed in with veggies for a grain salad, or as an accompaniment for your main course.
9. Incorporate lean meats: Lean meats such as chicken breast, turkey, lean cuts of beef, and fish like tuna and salmon, are excellent sources of protein. Including them in your lunch or dinner not only enhances your protein intake but also provides important nutrients like iron, B vitamins, and omega-3 fatty acids (in the case of fish). These can be grilled, baked, or sautéed to fit into a variety of meals.
10. Opt for protein-enriched pasta: Nowadays, there are many pasta alternatives on the market that are specifically formulated to be high in protein. These include pastas made from beans, lentils, or chickpeas, and many of them contain significantly more protein than traditional wheat pasta. By swapping your regular pasta for a protein-enhanced one, you can effortlessly boost your protein intake while still enjoying your favorite pasta dishes.
11. Embrace protein powders: Protein powders such as whey, casein, or plant-based options like pea or hemp protein are a quick and easy way to increase your protein intake. These can be mixed with water or milk for a post-workout drink, blended into smoothies, or even incorporated into baked goods or oatmeal. This makes them a versatile tool in your protein-boosting arsenal.
12. Don't forget about legumes: Legumes, which include beans, lentils, and chickpeas, are packed with protein and versatile enough to be used in various dishes. You can add them to soups, salads, and stews, or even blend them into dips and spreads like hummus. Additionally, legumes are rich in fiber and other nutrients, making them a healthy and beneficial addition to your daily meals on multiple fronts.
13. Incorporate cheese and dairy products: Cheese and dairy products are a solid source of protein and can easily be included in your meals. Types of cheese like mozzarella or gouda can be sliced and served with whole grain crackers for a protein-rich snack, while cottage cheese can be mixed with fruits for a refreshing dessert or breakfast option. Similarly, you could add a slice of cheese to your sandwiches or grate some over your soups, salads, or pasta to increase protein content effortlessly.
