School gun report for the week of 11/19/23-11/25/23: Ex-Cop loses it at Trunk or Treat
11/19/23: Headline: Opinion: An 11-year-old who survived Uvalde says he and his friends will ‘never be the same’ Headline speaks for itself. Yet, the gun nerds will dismiss the mental wellness of these children so they can have overly modded ASSAULT RIFLES. *** 11/20/23: Headline: Additional Charges Against Man In School Shooting Incident A former St. Louis County cop was arrested for firing…

Marion County High School Wins Award for Voter Registration
Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett recently announced that Marion County High School has won the prestigious Anne Dallas Dudley Silver Level Award. The school earned this designation by registering 85 percent of its eligible students to vote. “Exceeding the 85 percent threshold is a distinction achieved by only 51 high schools in the entire state,” said Secretary of State Tre Hargett. “I…

With Love// F.W x Reader pt.4
Summary: Y/n Dursley of number 4 Privet Drive hates her life. That was, of course, until the summer before grade 9, after an oddly charming redhead and his brothers helped her cousin escape. it was probably a good thing he forgot to return that key.
word count: 1.7k
Tumblr media
The letter came one June afternoon.
Y/n was on her way back from school, and her brother running off with his friends to do god knows what.
Her father was at work, and her mother was out getting groceries.
She had the house to herself and couldn’t have been more elated.
A light tapping on the widow by the kitchen sink alerted her to the barn owl.
She stood up, making her way over and tentatively taking the letter from its beak.
Dursley family
Number 4 Privet Drive
Little Whinging
Surrey
She turned the letter over; sure, this was again a letter explaining what Hyginks Harry had gotten himself into this month.
To her surprise, it was an invitation.
Dursley Family,
You have been cordially invited to spectate the third and final task of the 1994/95 Triwizard Tournament.
If you are to accept this invitation, we expect your owl no later than June 20th.
A representative will escort you to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at 11:30 am on June 24th.
We eagerly await your reply.
Yours sincerely
Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress
She grinned as she read the letter. She turned to the owl that was still perched on the window sill.
“Can you just wait a moment?” She asked the owl; it simply blinked at her with its large eyes.
She ran up to her room, grabbing a pen, paper and the owl treats from her room.
She stopped at her kitchen table, quickly scribbling down a reply.
Dear Deputy Headmistress Minerva McGonagall
I would be delighted to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to spectate the 1994/95 Triwizard tournament.
The rest of my family will not be in attendance.
Yours Sincerely
Y/n Dursley
Harry’s Favourite Cousin
She folded the paper in half.
She gave the owl a treat before handing it the letter and watching it fly off into the evening sky.
She grinned, excitement bubbling in her chest at the prospect of being able to see the magic school. She, a muggle (Which Harry would often call her to annoy her), surely this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Her spirits were high all evening; even her mother's nagging couldn’t wipe the grin off her face.
“Why are you so happy?” Dudley had asked rather loudly.
y/n shrugged.
“It’s nothing, and even if it were, I wouldn’t tell you because you would just spoil it,” she shot back.
“I would not,” he protested, face scrunching up and beginning to turn red.
“Yes, you would; you always do. Remember my year four violin recital? I was so excited to show Mum and Dad what I had been working on, and the night before, you threw a tantrum because you didn’t want to go, and I had to miss my own recital,” she explained.
“I did not!” he was beginning to sound like an overgrown baby.
“Or what about when I was thirteen? And I was having my friends stay the night for my birthday, and you didn’t want them in the house because you wanted to play your video games in peace, so you screamed and cried until I had to cancel my birthday,” she retorted.
Dudley was on the verge of another one of his tantrums; she could feel it. His face was red as a tomato, and he breathed heavier than normal.
“So no, Dudley, I’m not going to tell you why I’m so happy tonight,”
“Mum!” Dudley wailed, throwing himself onto the ground.
Three seconds flat, and their mother was already by his side.
“What’s wrong, duddies?” She cooed.
“Y/n’s tormenting me,” he fake bawled.
She turned her attention to her daughter.
“What have I said about bullying your brother Y/n? You’re sixteen now; this is completely unacceptable behaviour,” She screeched.
Y/n shrugged, turning around to make her way up the steps.
“I ought to ask the Weasley twins for more of those magical toffees,” She said loudly enough for her brother to hear.
She grinned at the genuine scream of terror he let out at her words.
She didn’t have to wait long for a reply from the deputy headmistress.
It was the Saturday of the same week the letter had initially arrived. This time it was delivered directly to her.

Dear Miss Dursley,
We appreciate your timely reply.
Due to the nature of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, it is pertinent that a witch or wizard must escort all Muggle Family Members.
A representative will arrive at precisely 11:15 a.m on the 24th of June and escort you to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where you will be able to spectate the third and final task of the 1994/95 Triwizard tournament.
If you have any questions or further enquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress
She grinned at the letter in her hands, an excitement she hadn’t felt before making its way to the surface.
She couldn’t help the slight squeal of excitement from her lips.
It seemed the morning of June 24th couldn’t come fast enough.
She hadn’t told her parents what was happening, fearing they would lock her away in her room or something just as horrible.
By some good fortune, everyone in her household was out that Friday.
Her father was at work, her brother at school and her mother was out with her friends for brunch.
Three loud knocks echoed through the silent house.
Y/n jumped up from the couch, swinging the door open.
“Hello Y/n,”
She was slightly taken aback by the man standing before her, but a wide grin cracked across her face.
“Mr Weasley, it’s good to see you. I take it you’re my escort to Hogwarts?” She questioned.
Mr Weasley nodded his head.
“That’s right when McGonnagll told me you wanted to watch Harry in the last trial, I immediately volunteered myself.”
She smiled bashfully at him.
Stepping out into the warm June morning, she clutched the bouquet of flowers she got her cousin, Mr Weasley instructed her to grip his arm tightly and not let go.
Hesitantly she did as she was told.
In less than five seconds, they were standing in a little village she did not recognise, considerably more nauseous than she was a moment ago.
“What the hell was that?” She asked, willing herself not to throw up.
Mr Weasley let out an amused laugh.
“Sorry, I often forget Muggles aren’t used to magical travel,”
Y/n took a second, dropping the bouquet to the ground and inhaling deeply, placing her hands on her knees.
“Are you alright?” He asked, now slightly concerned for the girl.
She dry heaved a few times, willing herself not to throw up in front of Mr. Weasley. Eventually, the bout of nausea left, and she could stand up straight once more. Collecting the flowers she had thrown aside.
“Okay, we are all good to go,” She smiled.
Mr. Weasley was still wearing a concerned expression, but he nodded in understanding.
"Sorry about that. Apparition can be a bit disorienting for those who aren't used to it. But you handled it well," he said with a friendly smile.
Y/n chuckled nervously, "Yeah, well, it was definitely unexpected."
As they walked towards the magical carriages that would take them to Hogwarts, Y/n couldn't contain her excitement. The whole wizarding world was still a mystery to her, and she was eager to learn more.
“What's it like?” She began, “I ask Harry all the time but he won’t tell me anything interesting, he mostly just talks about quidditch and his classes and stuff. Are there any rules I should know about?"
As they settled into one of the carriages, Y/n couldn't help but be curious about Mr. Weasley's world. "And what about the Ministry of Magic? How does it work? Are there laws that everyone must follow?"
Mr. Weasley nodded, happy to elaborate. "Yes, indeed. The Ministry of Magic oversees magical law in Britain. We have various departments, such as the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, etc. Laws ensure the proper use of magic and protect the magical and non-magical communities."
Y/n absorbed the information, fascinated by the intricacies of the wizarding world. As they continued their conversation, Mr Weasley expressed his interest in the Muggle world.
Before she even knew it they had stopped; Mr. Weasley stepped out first and helped y/n down from the carriage.
She turned, excitement bubbling in her chest. This was it; she was finally going to see the place Harry held so dear to his heart. The place she had envisioned for four years.
But to her dismay, ruins stood staring back at her. It was a dilapidated building that was unfit for anyone to inhabit, never the less than 300 witches and wizards from across the country.
“Uhm, Mr. Weasley?” She began jogging to catch up to him as she realised he had begun walking up the path towards the ruins. “Are we in the right place?”
Mr. Weasley stopped and turned to look at the girl, a look of confusion on his face.
“Yes, of course we are, my dear,” he turned back and continued to walk.
y/n hesitated for a moment.
“It’s just, is this like a trick or something?” she couldn’t help the question.
Mr. Weasley paused for a second, a look of realisation dawning on his face.
“I’m so sorry, I completely forgot,” Turning to look back at the ruins “, There are enchantments and all sorts of muggle-repelling charms put in place, you know, to keep from prying eyes. But I assure you, my dear, the castle is here, and once we are past those, you'll be able to see it as if you were a witch yourself.”
Excitement rose in her chest at those words. She was here; she was going to see it.
One moment, it was ruins; the next, it was a magnificent and imposing castle.
y/n was breathless.
Maybe it was her imagination, but she swore she could feel the magic around her.

hello! 🌤️ for the wips game, if you feel like it, please! ❤
Share a favorite piece of dialogue from your WIP.
Hello, and thanks so much for the ask. Ah this is a nice one because I find dialogue tricky, so I tend to remember the bits where I'm happy with that element 😅 This snip is taken from an old forced marriage WIP where the magical world is in danger of exposure and Harry and Draco need to go on the run from a corrupt Ministry (along with Dudley and his magical child). I like this bit because there are four people talking plus Harry's interior monologue, and I got to play around with different characterisations. Hermione is pregnant here, btw.
It was Malfoy on the stairs, Harry realised—Malfoy and his awful friend Zabini, who Harry remembered vaguely from school, and who was everywhere these days, at all the same events and parties as Harry, only he always looked like he was actually having fun at them.
Hermione groaned quietly when she saw them. “Isn’t it enough that we had to see that ghastly man yesterday?” she hissed to Harry. “Why is he always everywhere?”
They headed for the stairs together, and Harry had half a second to notice that Malfoy was a bit pink and laughing properly, before Malfoy noticed them and composed himself.
“You’re drunk,” Harry said, and Malfoy looked sideways at Blaise before replying, as if he needed reassurance, which made Harry grit his teeth.
“You are drunk,” Malfoy answered reasonably, which was the truth of course, though Harry wasn’t sure why that was in the slightest bit relevant. He decided to ignore Malfoy.
“Zabini.” He nodded at Zabini politely, but then Malfoy snorted and the corner of Zabini’s mouth twitched and Harry felt his patience shredding, just exactly as though they were back in school and Malfoy had him seething over nothing.
“You’re all drunk,” Hermione said tiredly, “and I’m really, really not. So come on, Harry.” She nodded at Malfoy, and then sneezed suddenly. Malfoy looked amused again. “Wonderful.” She did sound exhausted, Harry realised. “And I’ve got a cold coming on. Just what I need.”
Hermione hauled herself up the first few steps of the stairs, and when he saw her heavy, rolling gait, Malfoy pulled himself up and pressed himself against the wall so she could pass.
“Granger,” he said as she went past, and though he put a hand out to her, he didn’t quite touch her. “Here, take this. It’s clean.”
He took a handkerchief out of his pocket, the fine white lawn drooping as he handed it to her carefully.
“Thank you,” she said, though she sounded suspicious,  and she didn’t say anything else as she continued climbing the stairs. Malfoy only laughed in reply, always amused by other people’s discomfort, the prick.
Harry breathed in as he squeezed past Malfoy, felt Malfoy’s amused outward breath at the back of his neck as he pounded up the stairs after Hermione.
“I heard you had a run-in with him at the Board meeting,” he heard Blaise mutter to Malfoy as he left. “What’s his problem?”
Harry was at the top of the stairs by the time Malfoy finally answered, but his unconcerned voice was high and carrying so Harry could hear everything. “You know Potter,” he said. “There’s always something with him.”

Chapter 12: Don’t Count Your Chicks
What had Harry done to deserve this?
Sure, he’d done his fair share of stupid shit. He nicked biscuits from Dudley on a daily basis when they were kids, and when he scratched Uncle Vernon’s car, he blamed it on the neighbour’s cat without a blink. He skived off high school to smoke pot with Neville, and he shamelessly shagged Colin Creevey in the bathroom at that university party despite knowing about Colin’s pathetically obvious crush on him. He never paid back the five pounds to that Starbucks barista who was kind to him when his card had been declined, and he never called his aunt when he said he would, because honestly, he didn’t give a damn.
Harry wasn’t a saint, not even remotely. But the number of sins committed compared to this crap tornado he was recently forced to weather were on very different levels of the scale.
Read from the beginning here on AO3.

HSHQTASK059: FAREWELL !
when did you join ? what made you join ? what do you remember from the plotlines that were current at the time ? where were you in life when you joined and where are you now ?
i joined in early (?) 2017. i had a lucky blue smith fc but that lasted for a hot minute and i ghosted LMAO. then i reapplied with astrid and as a bernadotte, i had sooo much fun <3 i don't remember ANYTHING, i'm sorry i just don't. i think irenton was still in its slowburn era. i was still in high school, about to graduate. now i have a master's degree and i'm working, crazy stuff!!!!
which characters have you written over the years ?
astrid, uriah 1.0 and 2.0, vitaliya, verona, francisco / francois, arvid, a dudley o'shaughnessy fc ( for 1 sec before ghosting )... i think that's everyone ???
what is your favourite plotline that you've been part of ?
i had a lot of fun writing chimei. i think it was the height of hshq for me so it really sticks out to me. idk if the bernadottes as a whole count as a plotline ? i'm such a sucker for them. the NUMBER one plotline though would be the russian plots vitya was part of. i think it's a sign of a good plotline when a 60-year-old character's threads are interesting and have me logging in. i don't want to name every plot but i have to give a mention to italy's stuff. i picked up verona because there was a huge hole in the hshqverse since italy had no rep, and i figured i'd survive without any nephews and nieces but then you all came back and i was so overjoyed <3 verona's story became so much more fulfilling for me to write.
what about other people's plotlines ?
i know i was kinda involved but watching the basel thing evolve was super entertaining. i liked the whole thing from beginning to the end. as for smaller plots, i think the spanish fires fucking up first zhergi and the farnauld has to be my fave thing. it was so wild and i LOVED the fact that a 3 year-old-plotline still had an effect on current threads and in such a surprising way <3
who is your favourite character from the ones you've played ? why ? what made you love them ? what made them so fun to write ?
astrid.... of course it's astrid. she was my age so i mirrored a lot of problems from my own life and made them hers. obviously they were exaggerated problems and shit but through astrid i got to write about emotions that were current to me. it was therapeutic and fun. i've loved all of my characters a lot though. vitya was so special because she was a character like no other. i loved creating her backstory and i had so much fun working on her psyche. a former USSR with a modest background, now an extremely influential duchess ? i loveeed it. it was so different and writing her inner monologue was so satisfying.
if you could relive a plotline, which would it be ?
i think the beginning of chimei. there was something about it. it moved naturally. i really miss the time.
is there a plotline that you'd edit now if you could ?
i'd speed up ilstrid so that we would actually get to write them getting together. i'll take the blame for ilstrid never really taking off lmao sry about that evy. i also wanna say that ilstrid is one of my fave ships because it was so easy and not-at-all-stressful to develop. it may have not reached its end, we didn't get a satisfying ending but i think it was so much fun to portray that kind of a love story. i wasn't a fan of friends-to-lovers trope but ilstrid is still one of my fave ships <3
what's a plotline you wish you would have been able to finish before closing or just write more of ?
ilstrid akfndsjkgbsnjg but also i think i would have enjoyed writing verona as the grand duchess of austria too. i do regret never applying for an austrian. it was something that "i'll do later" and never did it. it was partly because i didn't have a plotline for an austrian and couldn't naturally come up with one :(
what is your favourite ooc memory ?
when we brought the zulus. i don't think anything topped it. we made some really fucking shady and weird online chatroom to figure out the zulus' backstory and it was so much fun. i hadn't been that excited for something in a long time!!! and i think i'll have to mention all of the late nights of chatting with people. it was a big part of the hshq experience. we were all actual friends and i loved joking around. and i'll say it here now because this is so embarrassing but honestly i've always felt so appreciated when people have used the term naomi'd. it felt like a nickname fkjsgnjkgn and i'm glad i never upset anyone with my pushiness skdgngj
where can others find you if they want to get in touch ?
i'll disappear, i'm sorry but i think it's inevitable. i've enjoyed the chats and like i said i've loved to joke around but i'm not a person who really does online relationships. hshq was an exception and it'll stay as one. if you guys ever start writing again, pls im me or @ me. if it's meant to be, i'll stumble upon the message at the right time <3
what else would you like to say ?
oh dear ! i have so much to say but not enough words to express my feelings ! seven years is a long time to be part of something and i never expected to remain here for such a long time. i've been allowed to write and plot and create complex and inspiring plotlines with you, and i think it's been exceptional. hshq was something else among rpgs. anyone who has been part of this, has to agree. i think it says a lot that even though the dash died, on the very day of closing, six or so members did the final task. and i have a feeling we'll see many 058 and 059 tasks this week. i've laughed a lot with you, i've stayed up until the little hours just to be part of the experience, i've cried at your writing... i think honesty hours will be the epitome of joy for me. they always made me laugh and the energy was unbeatable. hshq has given me so much joy and has taught me a lot ! about people, about writing, about the english language and photoshop !!! you guys have no fucking idea how grateful i am of this experience and i wish i could relive it --- and that's a really good sign. sometimes we are glad to reach the ending but i don't think that applies here. this spring will feel different and this week will feel horrible. i have to admit, i'm not exactly ready for this and it feels so silly because it was 'just rp' aksfdbjdsgs thank you everyone for these years, the late nights and the amazing experience <3

School gun report for the week of 11/12/23-11/18/23: Michigan to bring back hunting classes edition
11/12/23: Headline: Bill could add gun safety, hunting course to Michigan schools FTA: “Our hunting ranks are shrinking,” she said. “We’re not doing a good enough job getting new kids in to replace the people who are aging out of the hunting activities. So this is a great way to really recruit and retain individuals.”  I don’t know about you, but that sounds a lot like indoctrination to…

12.31.2023
48 books this year. My hunger never ends. I am insatiable. Here's my reviews:
Five Classics by Agatha Christie 8/10 Started the year off strong with a handful of Christie's shorter classic mysteries
The Fortune Teller by Gwendolyn Womack 4.5/10 Super super cool story idea with very poor flow and had a cheating trope
Mountain Mama by Axsom & Pelham 6.5/10 A depressingly realistic look at life on the frontier for a single mom
A Well-Behaved Woman by Therese Anne Fowler 8/10 Alva Vanderbilt was so incredible
Followers by Megan Angelo 6.5/10 One of those books where you really don't care the first 2/3 and then you can't get over it for the last 1/3
The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien 10/10 my annual reading of one of the Big Four, as always
"Kitchen Princess" Omnibus 2 by Ando & Kobayashi 9/10 I'm pretty sure I learned my love languages from the Kitchen Princess series as a kid
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas 5.5/10 A little tropey and the riddle was stupid easy, but I love me a Beauty & The Beast retelling
Homeland: The Legend of Drizzt #1 by R.A. Salvatore 5.5/10 It really didn't need to be that long, but Salvy loves his extra DnD context
The Black Poets by Dudley Randal 10/10 When I tell you how often I think about the poetry from this book. When I tell you.
Mansfield Park by Jane Austen 6.5/10 Witty and wild for it's time, like all Austen novels, but she's boring and falls in love with her cousin
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas 7.5/10 Turning the Beauty and the Beast retelling on its HEAD and using tidbits from the previous novel to change everything - but also very very smutty
Tithe by Holly Black 7/10 Rereading an old book I love in high school and finding that I still like it quite a lot
The Big Four by Agatha Christie 8/10 One of her biggie Poirot heists, super thrilling
"Kitchen Princess" Vol. 6 by Ando and Kobayashi 9/10 I have dreams, actual dreams, about these stories for weeks after reading them. Good dreams.
The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chianani 7/10 Decided to read this after watching the movie -- it might not be incredible storytelling but it's a fun story-world, so I decided to read it all
A World Without Princes by Soman Chianani 4/10 S for G&E 2 -It had some good bits, but was overall way too clumpy
The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien 10/10 This was actually my first time reading it, and I LOVE getting all the universe context!!
To Weave a Web of Magic by Delacroix, Kurlana, McKillip, and Shinn 8/10 This series of short stories had some real bangers and some ehh
On The Incarnation by St. Athanasius 7/10 the deconstruction never stops, love that for us
Unfinished Tales by J.R.R. Tolkien 8.5/10 It was so cool reading some of his last unfinished works, it was really not cool reading a bunch of stories with no ending
The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn 5.5/10 Where the first Bridgerton book was much better than it's season, the second book was exactly as whatever as the second season.
"The Tempest" by William Shakespeare 7.5/10 really very odd, but the overall vibe was so good and exactly what I needed after Quinn
The Last Ever After by Soman Chianani 6.5/10 S for G&E #3 Thus begins my attempt to finish the whole series because I bought them and they were sitting there
"Sophist", "Statesmen", "Parmenides" and "Philebus" by Plato 10/10 What's the difference between is and is not? Is 'is not' a state of being? lol I dunno
Quest for Glory by Soman Chianani 7/10 S for G&E #4 Okay finally these stories are getting interesting again
A Crystal of Time by Soman Chianani 6.5/10 Really pulling out some wackadoodle things for this one, but I wasn't against it too much
One True King by Soman Chianani 6/10 An alright wrap-up, but my boi Hort deserved a more thorough ending
In the Flo by Alisa Vitti 6.5/10 I learned more about my period in this book than in any health class, but it also got a little woowoo with moon phases
The Green Witch by Murphy & Hiscock 7/10 I had a late-night book buying stint where I bought like 7 witchy books and this was the first to arrive
Acting on Impulse by Mia Sosa 2/10 I have nothing particular against this author, but this was the book that convinced me that I could get a book published
A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas 7.5/10 Hoo boy does a lot of stuff go down in this spicy, spicy book.
A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas 6/10 Just a fun little story about wildly traumatized characters
Save the Cat! Writes a Novel by Jessica Brody 9.5/10 One of the coolest things I've read, I learned so much about reading and writing
Walden and Others Writings by Henry David Thoreau 10/10 So much beautiful writing, this is going to be a regular reread for me
A History of Magic, Witchcraft, and the Occult by DK 8.5/10 Naturally one of my favorite books of the year was a literal textbook
A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas 8/10 Apparently I didn't hate this book as much as I was supposed to, but also please mind your manners in shared eating spaces
American Brujeria by J. Allen Cross 6.5/10 It turns out Hispanic witches are super super Catholics, which I bet would make some non-Hispanic Catholics real angy
Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman 7/10 Practical Magic #1 it was such a lovely writing style, like an actual witch telling a prophecy
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas 8.5/10 A really cool story, standing ovation for Lehabah every day, but also weird that the big bad killer guy wears hats and watches basketball
Nevewhere by Neil Gaiman 9/10 Hadn't thought much of it while I was reading it, but this story had stuck with me like a bad cold baby
Bones of Faerie by Janni Lee Simmer 5.5/10 This one had been sitting in my TBR for too long, and it wasn't too bad
Well of Darkness by Weis & Hickman 8.5/10 Getting to read a fantasy story in the perspective of the bad guys? Heck yeah. So cool.
After the Funeral by Agatha Christie 6.5/10 This one had alllllllll the rich family drams
Ironside by Holly Black 8/10 my first time reading this finale of Black's trilogy, and I just feel like the main character could have been more logical or taken more action
A Writer's Notebook by Ralph Fletcher 2/10 I pretty much learned nothing, got nothing out of this
Search the Sky by Pohl & Kornbluth 8/10 Only took off points for misogyny, but it was from the 50s, otherwise a really cool story
The House Witch by Murphy & Hiscock 5/10 A follow-up from the first witchy book to arrive, this one didn't teach me as much about witches as I hoped it would
Approximately a 7/10 average for the whole year! I went out on a limb for a lot of books this year, and that was rewarding just about as often as it was disappointing, but I can at least say that I haven't DNF'd a book yet. I largely write these for myself, and I don't expect anyone to take the time to read it -- if you did, then you are a saint and a hero. May your pillows be cool, your blankets warm, and your eyesight always clear enough for reading.

Malcolm Landgraab
Age 24 years old
Nancy's angel. He's not as ruthless as her, but he has a head for business.
Malcolm is a bit more entrepreneurial than Nancy. He enjoys building a business from the ground up. Nancy and Geoffrey lent him the money to open his first bar/nightclub and now he has his sights set on opening the biggest casino in Del Sol Valley.
Got his high-school girlfriend pregnant. She had twins (Dudley and Mimi) and Nancy paid her out to 'disappear quietly'.
So I aged Malcolm up to a young adult because The Sims 2 Open for Business was my favourite pack and I played that Malcolm Landgraab running his little businesses so much. TS2 Malcolm had a couple of failed marriages and ended up madly in love with Nina Caliente. So Nina and Malcolm are my end game, so I had to age him up. And I added Dudley and Mimi in to the mix because they are cute.

Review- Evivative
Evivative- Vichan (222k, T) *spoiler warning*
I actually liked the premise of the story. Harry gets expelled from school because he protected Dudley from a Dementor by using Underaged Magic. Then, he wins his court case and gets readmitted to Hogwarts, but needs to get re-Sorted. Before his return to Hogwarts, he comes across a some Dark Arts book that piques his interest in said subject. He's absolutely horrified at himself and hopes that it doesn't affect his Sorting. It does, and he gets Sorted into Slytherin.
Overall, Harry's relationship with the Dark Arts was well established across the whole story. There's growth, acceptance and a reasonable backstory, which makes Harry falling into the Dark Arts more realistic. The Dark Arts' nitty gritty information was detailed and well thought-out. At times it was confusing, but that could just be me being dumb.
When Harry first gets re-Sorted into Slytherin, there was an initial stage of panic and confusion. Snape informs the Slytherins to be civil and respect Harry, and they do. Which was weird, as all the years before this they were practically everything but civil. Just because of what Snape said, out of nowhere they were willing to toss all their history out the window and be nice to Harry. I understand the whole "Slytherins got each others back" rule, but it would have been more interesting to see them get past a stage of anger and suspicion before warming up to him. Especially Draco, as they have been openly passionate enemies before this.
Now the romance. I personally found it kinda iffy, because Harry just randomly develops his feelings towards the end of the story. Throughout, Draco was basically helping Harry to become a Dark Wizard, which was a good plot device for them to fall in love. It was just that it was never implied that it was about to happen. There was practically no indication that Harry had a crush on Draco and everything could've passed of as platonic. Then, towards the end, Harry just suddenly has a big fat crush on Draco. The romance could have been omitted completely, however, as it didn't really add any depth to the story.
I would say this is a high 6/10. I managed to read the whole thing so it must mean something.

So why is Doc "Arthur" when he's not a dwarf/more human-y verses? Because I like the Dudley Moore film. Also Arthur means "bear" and he is one of the least imposing of the dwarfs and has some pretty obvious scoliosis going on. If his back wasn't messed up he MIGHT be a little more formidable but not happening. But mostly the Dudley Moore film. The Best that You Can Do is ALSO on his playlist. I fell in love with Arthur (THE ORIGINAL NOT THE REMAKE) when I was a freshman in high school. Fun fact, I made my fiance watch both Arthur and Arthur 2: On the Rocks because unless you love them, you can't love me. That's right. You gotta love Arthur 2 and I know the movie isn't that great. Why am I typing this? I am in so much pain I could chew through my tongue and this is a fun distraction. :) Pardon if you knew this already.

Not sure if you ever watched Charmed---bear with me for a sec if you haven't - but Prue Halliwell is also a clear ENTJ just like Donna. And while Prue is more highbrow, less of a 'tomboy,' etc. they're both blunt, direct, bold, ambitious, arguably sometimes feared and intimidating etc - and both open when it comes to sharing thoughts and opinions but very reserved when it comes to FEELINGS and being vulnerable. Anyway, also just like Donna, the love of Prue's life is the literal boy next door who she's known since childhood, dated in high school, and reunited with as adults. (He...doesn't make it through more than one season alive, but that's neither here nor there lol) And even though Andy is a lot more practical, direct, proactive etc than Eric, the point is that I feel like as *NTJs it makes total sense that for both Prue and Donna their perfect love interests would be people they've known forever who are already familiar with their strengths and obstacles so that they can let their guards down, be more emotional and vulnerable and all that stuff that doesn't come naturally for them. And since they don't TRULY let most people in despite having experiences with other men, it makes sense that that neither ever found anyone else they'd love like they did the guy they were close friends with since childhood. Not sure what if any point I'm making here but I just wanted to validate you re Donna being a total ENTJ and say that somehow her ENTJ-ness makes it even more clear that the literal boy next door who she's known forever would be the guy she'd end up with :)
I have not seen Charmed, but a similar ENTJ comparison to Donna is Elizabeth I, too. Well, Elizabeth had Jackie-ish vanity, but other than that, it's almost a dead ringer. Elizabeth, like Donna, was smart, focused, and temperamental. Plus, she had a very Eric-y love of her life, Robert Dudley. They had been friends since childhood, but political circumstances and personal trauma dictated they'd never get married. Dudley kept trying, though, until he gave up and married her cousin.
Anywho, I hate when Donna is typed as an ESTP. That focuses on some of her weaknesses, her self-destructive impulsiveness, rather than her strengths. She's a very clear XNTJ, and thrives when she's focused, but I lean ENTJ. Her Se isn't so bad she lives in la la land sometimes, like an INTJ (like me).

Why is it every time something weird happens in Connecticut, there's always some sort of secret cult and/or ghosts involved?
Also apparently CT has a long history of witchcraft, too? Not big surprise.
I’m not too sure - I remember a lot of people saying similar things when I was in high school, but I don’t really know why or if any of it was grounded in reality. I think people tend to associate New England as a whole with witchcraft/horror because of things like the Salem Witch Trials and writers like Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King. Connecticut is grouped in there for proximity, and probably not much else. There’s also things like Dudley Town, Holy Land, etc.
A few years ago I did some reading about the Hanging Hills in CT (probably the only notable natural land feature here) and read about this black dog which I thought was interesting. While it’s nothing crazy, it is somewhat related to your question and something many people had never heard of. Have a lovely night ❤️🖤
