Actors I want to see play vampires in something because I love bloodsuckers
Sebastian Stan - The Covenant is what made me think this initially. Hearing that (at one point at least) he wanted to be Dracula and tried using the fact that he's Romanian to make it happen just makes me smile. There's fanart, fanfiction, manips, and AMVs that help me know that I'm not alone in this line of thinking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mads Mikkelsen - Did you know that he's actually in a vampire movie? He's not a vampire from what I can tell, he's a vampire hunter, but that's still something to think about. It's called Nattens engel (or, Angel of the Night) from 1998. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was also in this movie. Speaking of which....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau would be a good vampire in something. Tell me I'm wrong. He has the charisma for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adam Driver - Hear me out! Look at him in The Last Duel, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, and the poster for Hungry Hearts if you don't agree, and then get back to me. He's big, he's sexy, he's got that nice deep purr of a voice, and the Reylos agree that's why there's already art and fanfiction of it! Somebody please give me Adam Driver Dracula I'm begging you!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eva Green - Stop giving me Eva Green witches and give me a bloodsucker! She. Would. Slay. That. Shit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cara Delevingne - It's the eyes that do it for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Abbey Lee (Kershaw) - I don't want to profile, but look at her. Tall, sexy, scary, she's perfect!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oscar Isaac - Annihilation convinced me. And the little bit of The Card Counter I saw. And the little bit of Big Gold Brick. And a really good chunk of Moon Knight. Look, just trust me. I know what I'm talking about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like my vampires to walk that perfect line between sexy and scary. If you disagree, you're wrong. Simple as that. And here are my favorite examples just to prove my point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have more examples. A lot more. But only thirty pictures are allowed per post and I wanted a structure. Sexy/scary vampires are the best vampires. I love the scary ones, I love the sexy ones, but the ones that can be both are perfect.
I love vampires.

Criminal Minds Crossover Fic: Penny
Tumblr media
Title: Penny
Rating: M
Publish Date: 09/25/2022
Summary: This is a crossover fic with Criminal Minds TV series and the movie called 'No One Lives'. I love Luke Evans in 'No One Lives' he makes an otherwise blah movie enjoyable as the deliciously crazy bad guy, and what motivated him. How even a monstrous psychopath can love. And I thought why not do a crossover with one of my favorite TV Shows in celebration of its reboot, 'Criminal Minds: Evolution'. In this fic, Secrets from Garcia's past come back to haunt her.
As of this post, you can watch Luke Evans as the 'Driver' in 'No One Lives' through this URL: https://localnow.com/movies/no-one-lives
She had stood in line for nearly five minutes while she clutched the gallon of rocky road ice cream, and waited patiently for Mrs. Ling to ring up the customers in front of her. Mrs. Ling was in her early eighties and moved like every joint in her body had arthritis and the thickness of her glasses told just how blind she was. But still, she ran the little convenience store in the neighborhood, and no one had ever tried to rob it. It was as if there was some unspoken rule that you had better not mess with Mrs. Ling. Also, people who lived in the neighborhood really went out of their way to look out for the elderly lady, even the younger crowd who'd you'd think would be the ones causing the most trouble. Yes, they left Mrs. Ling alone, but anyone else was fair game.
"Damn, girl, you thick," The tallest of the three younger boys who stood just behind her spoke out. He was a black boy but his accent told her that he was Latino, and his dark complexion made her think of the Dominican Republic. He was accompanied by another black boy who didn't say anything but the way he leered at her while sucking on the cherry blow pop in his mouth spoke volumes. She didn't engage with them she just kept staring straight ahead and she shuffled forward when another patron had been checked out.
"You know I gotta thing for pretty ladies who wear glasses," The other boy, a pimply-faced white boy, who looked too scrawny and too soft to even be hanging with the other two, spoke out. He reached out and flicked one of her golden locks with his right pointer finger. Under the light of day, she probably would have turned to him and given him a piece of her mind at his audacity to touch a woman without permission. But it was 10:15 pm and she hadn't been able to talk her mind out of going out for a late-night craving. And Mrs. Ling had just finished ringing up the guy right in front of her so she rushed forward and placed the ice cream and money on the counter. When Mrs. Ling wrung her up and she saw her total, she just slid her the five and three single dollar bills, grabbed up the ice cream, spoke a soft good night, and hurried out the exit.
Once outside she took big strides to her car, as big as the hip-hugging dress and stilettos she wore would allow. She silently cursed at herself for not changing out of her work attire before she left home, but it had been a late workday and the craving for ice cream struck as soon as she had crossed the threshold of her apartment. She let out a slight sigh when she grasped the handle of her car door, but that was soon replaced with a gasp when the door was slammed shut again. She looked up in surprise to see the three younger guys now surrounding her, with the white guy right in front of her as he leaned against her car.
"Hey, can I get your number?" He asked casually as he lazily reached out his right hand and twirled her hair around his fingers.
"I have a boyfriend," She replied as she took a step back and glanced at her surroundings to determine that there was no one else in the parking lot but them. Even the streets were empty and dark. The only help she would be able to get if she had to seek it, would be from Mrs. Ling whom she knew wouldn't be any real help. "He's waiting for me to get back, so…"
"Yo, man let a fine thing like you come out this late by yourself?" The black Latino boy spoke out again. "Don't he know there are a lot of dangerous people out here at night?" He asked as he moved right up to her backside and ground himself against her ass. This made her panic and step forward and right up against the white boy, who reached up and grasped both of her bountiful breasts in both of his hands. Her unshed tears were already blurring her vision as she shivered slightly in fear of what she was sure was about to happen to her. Before she could open her mouth to scream for help a gunshot rang out, and she along with her three unwanted companions turned to where the shot emerged. They could only make out the dark silhouette of a tall, slender built figure and the gun in his right hand. "Hey, we were just trying to help the lady to her car," He added as he held his hands up to show he was no threat.
"Yeah, man," The white guy added as he opened the car door for her, but she stood rooted in her spot as she stared at the man who stood across the street, hidden in the darkness watching them. There was something familiar about him but she couldn't quite place what it was. Then he tilted his head ever so slightly and it sent a chill through her body and made her drop the ice cream. She quickly hopped into her car, started it up, and backed out of her parking space as the force of the movement slammed the door closed. The three guys had jumped back out of the way cursing as they watched her peel away. The shadow man watched her as she left.
He had first noticed her three days prior and he started stealthily following and watching her. He thought she might have been one of his beloveds from his past, the one that got away, but he hadn't been sure until that very moment. As she looked at him her eyes told him that she thought she had known him, and then right before she jumped in her car and sped off, her eyes held a look of recognition. It had been 30 years since he'd last seen her, 30 years of him searching and never finding any clues to her whereabouts. Then three days ago while passing through town he had randomly stopped for coffee, something he'd never done in the home of the FBI, and there she was. And once he saw her, he ignored all of his survival skills and survival instincts, which screamed at him to get the hell out of town. Instead, he had been so drawn to her as if she had put a compulsion and enthrallment spell over him and he had followed her discreetly. Now he was glad he had, now he was 100% sure of who she was.
"My Penny," He whispered out into the darkness and a smile curved his lips as his eyes stayed locked onto the rear lights on her car until she finally rounded a corner a block down the street.

When you suddenly remember a slasher movie you watched years ago just because of an actor
When you decide to look up some fics or imagines with that character
But the creators of the movie decided not to give this character a name
And he is just Driver
Well, shit

The Reylo Heresies #1
Heresy:  Reylo wasn’t planned as a ship.
It’s an assumption among Reylos that the romantic relationship was entirely planned from the beginning and it was absolutely Lucasfilm’s intention they would end up the one true pairing of the sequel trilogy.
I’m here to tell you I don’t think that’s true at all.  Most of what we got was basically an accident, a confluence of factors that added up to something nobody really planned or expected.
What happened was the Jedi Killer--a character from early drafts/outlines that ultimately became Kylo Ren--was meant to be something of an antagonist for the female protagonist who became Rey.  Given that both were gifted in the Force there would naturally be some kind of connection between them, some push-pull, some light side/dark side tension.  Those elements made it in the films.  The oft-posted/retweeted concept art from The Art of TFA shows the Jedi Killer in a Phantom of the Opera type from behind embrace of the female protagonist.  (Weirdly and fortuitously enough it was modeled from a photo shoot featuring Adam Driver some time before he was actually cast.)  This is often used as evidence Reylo was “planned” from the beginning.  Aside from this artwork though there’s nothing suggested in Lucas’s outlines or known earlier drafts of the TFA script that Rey and Kylo Ren were being set up in the same sense Anakin and Padmé or Han and Leia were.  In fact my initial impression after seeing TFA was that Rey and Kylo were cousins!
Any discussion about romance by JJ Abrams or others involved with the TFA when the film came out was very cagey and not very specific.  In fact if anything, TFA flirts but doesn’t get to first base with anybody:  not Kylo and Rey, not Rey and Finn, and not Finn and Poe.  All Abrams did was establish a kind of connection between the dynamic duo but he didn’t realize that if you have a young attractive man and a young attractive woman looking at each other intensely a lot or if you have her faint in his strong arms then he carries her away, people are going to think there’s something going on.  Lightsabers?  That’s just foreplay!
I don’t think Adam or Daisy intentionally played up any sexual tension in their scenes together to give us an impression about something in TFA.  I think it just happened.  Early bird Reylos picked up on it.  Some critics, including the one who wrote the TFA review for Time magazine, picked up on it.  And perhaps, just maybe, Rian Johnson picked up on it too.
I think Abrams was shooting for some vague Force siblings, good twin/evil twin kind of thing.  Johnson IMO saw a thread of something else as a result of the way Daisy and Adam played off each other and didn’t want to just repeat the Luke and Leia thing.  So in TLJ he pushed the relationship more into the romantic territory and let the sexual tension between Rey and Kylo go nuts.  There’s a reason why the number of Reylos exploded after that movie came out, me included.  Johnson pulled every visual trick in the book to make you think there’s more going on than just the Force.  It’s really similar to the arc between Ana de Armas and Chris Evans in “Knives Out” but way more intense.  You could cut the sexual tension with a knife and serve it with tea.  It was also absolutely the best thing about TLJ and the sequels in general.
Johnson left Rey and Kylo back in their enemies corners at the end of TLJ but the Reylo beast was on the loose and there was no putting it back in the cage.  I’m sure Lucasfilm, Chris Terrio, and JJ Abrams were pulling their hair out because they had no idea how to resolve something they didn’t intend in the first place.  Johnson had been given free reign and I’m sure that will never happen again with any Star Wars feature film.  If one is ever made.
My best piece of evidence that Reylo wasn’t really planned was its near total absence in Colin Trevorrow’s Duel of the Fates screenplay.  In fact, Colin T. forced Johnson to stick in that “Hi, I’m Poe” scene at the end of TLJ to justify a kissing scene with Rey and Poe in his script.  DOTF features Rey and Kylo fighting like Itchy and Scratchy until he’s dying and decides to be nice and tell Rey she was named after a beach in San Diego.  (Solana, in case you’re wondering.)  If Reylo had been planned there would’ve been a lot more than that.
Ultimately JJerio had to acknowledge Reylo even if there was no intent whatsoever to give Rey and Ben a HEA, so we got (let’s be honest) way better scenes between them in TROS than in DOTF.  There wasn’t even a dyad concept in DOTF.  And no kiss.
To summarize, we got Reylo largely from Rian Johnson as well as the chemistry between Daisy and Adam.  Nobody could’ve planned that from the beginning.

My Bloody Nights with Mr. Evans
---
By the end of the evening, the haphazardly spilled bloody mary wasn't the only thing staining the table linens a deep red.
---
Mr. Evans hardly ever surprises me. I say hardly because the day that I found out he's a murderer I was surprised.
Back then, I'd been working for Mr. Evans for about five months. I came on to help manage the staff of his New England estate as his personal assistant. Unlike some of my past personal assistant jobs, the position is a full-time role that required me to be available 24/7 so I was given rooms on the property. Nothing too fancy. It was only a room in the part of the estate that was designated for the staff. The whole thing was a bit of a lifestyle shock having come from living in the city to the remote, quiet neighborhood of Massachusetts’ one percent. When I took the position, I'd wondered why my predecessor had left but I could never quite figure out what happened and the inability to find out anything became less odd as time went on.
My employer, Mr. Evans, is the sole inheritor of his family's international import and export conglomerate. Making him both wealthy, and well-known in the business world. His industry experience has afforded him many friends and business partners not only in the shipping empire but also in various enterprises. He's not only popular because of his wealth and business expertise but also for his exceptional prowess in the kitchen as well as for being an incredibly handsome, eligible bachelor.
Mr. Evans is always perfectly coiffed and clothed. His thick dark brown hair is always immaculately moussed, swept back from his face, and parted perfectly without a hair out of place. His beard is always groomed and trimmed accenting his chiseled face. His wardrobe is selected by an esteemed fashion stylist from designers all over the world and immaculately cared for by a tailor on the estate. You will never catch Mr. Evans looking disheveled.
I obviously didn't care or find any of that appealing or distracting. I have been PA to many wealthy, attractive businessmen who've tried their best to sway me into comfortable sugar-baby arrangements. I'm aware that I am a beautiful, young woman who could easily live a life of luxury on the whims of a wealthy man. I could easily allow myself to be lavished with extravagant gifts and whisked off to private islands at the drop of a hat. Money and power have never impressed me. And it sure is not enough to sacrifice the future of my career.
Back when I originally started I hardly ever spoke to Mr. Evans. We would meet at exactly 7:45 am in the small meeting room between Mr. Evans’s at-home office and a grand library that no one seems to use. From the beginning, I got the impression that Mr. Evans is a very precise individual and that he prefers tasks to be performed in the way he expects. I also gathered that he's not one to show a lot of emotion. I tried once or twice to get him to even slightly smile during our meetings but gave up when my jests kept falling flat.
Our meetings would run for no longer than thirty minutes to review any open items from the previous day and the schedule for the day ahead as well as any future plans he wanted me to handle. From there, I would hand off his schedule to his drivers and business analyst Luke, a newer staff member like myself, and set out to accomplish any tasks he'd assigned. During the rest of the day, I wouldn't see Mr. Evans unless any major things occurred that required his attention. Part of my job was to make sure that there was nothing that needed Mr. Evans's attention so most days I wouldn't see him again until the following morning.
My position was surprisingly much more simple than any of my previous positions. Unlike the households of my most recent employers who were new to their wealth and needed me to bring order to their new lives, everyone on staff had either been on the estate since the late Mr. and Mrs. Evans had maintained the property. Luke and I were the only new employees. There weren't that many things that didn't already have a set course of action that everyone already seemed to know. So I spent most of my day learning about my new employer, the history of the property, and making sure everyone had everything they needed. It wasn't until after a winter-themed dinner party to celebrate the forthcoming solstice that I noticed things on the Evans estate were not as simple as they seemed.
The morning after the dinner party was not anything I'd come to expect.

The New York Times: In 2022, TV Woke Up From the American Dream
In the Peacock series “Killing It,” Brock (Scott MacArthur), an Everglades snake hunter and would-be YouTube influencer, gets shot in the face in an altercation over a sack of python eggs. It is the best thing that has ever happened to him.
The shooting leaves Brock minus one eye. But it’s captured on video, and the upload gets millions of views, giving him the lucrative viral success he’s wanted for years.
“American dream!” he says, beaming. “Getting shot in the face!”
On TV, 2022 has been the year of the American dream — with a catch. For many of the hustlers, entrepreneurs and strugglers onscreen, that aspiration still exists. But as Brock experienced, it can cost you an important part of yourself.
“Killing It,” created by Dan Goor and Luke Del Tredici of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” slipped under many TV watchers’ radar last spring, including, mea culpa, mine. In its first episode, it seems like a simple, wacky buddy comedy: Craig Foster (Craig Robinson), a Florida security guard with dreams of starting a prostate-supplement business, teams up with the ride-share driver Jillian Glopp (Claudia O’Doherty) in a contest to exterminate invasive pythons.
But as the season goes on, it becomes a broad, big-swinging satire of an adversarial economy that can seem to be booming and busting at the same time. (Tim Heidecker has a boisterous turn as a testosterone-pumped motivational speaker who preaches the philosophy of “Dominine,” which is one more than “dominate.”)
As Craig, Jillian and their opponents claw toward their prize, one foot of dead python at a time, they give us a tour of the hustler’s mirage, in which the promise of riches shimmers on the horizon, all yours if you only go to one more paid conference, pitch two more investors, take three more jobs.
The work experience of Jillian, an Australian immigrant, is especially bleak-comic. She drives an Uber that tows a mobile billboard (which doubles as her home), gets a TaskRabbit stint helping a rich woman (D’Arcy Carden) perpetrate a tax-fraud scheme and takes a job murdering birds at an airport, all with a heartbreakingly cheerful spirit of optimism.
The comedy is grotesque and blunt — Craig spends one episode with a dead snake nailed to his palm — but sneakily smart. In this hunt for the American dream, it says, every life form must find a lower life form to kill. And while the series is set in 2016, three years before the first stirrings of Covid, it feels pandemic-adjacent in its focus on the stratum of the work force for whom work is risky, physical and in-person. You cannot drive an Uber, or shoot a nail gun into a python’s skull, over Zoom.
Tumblr media
The pandemic plays explicitly in Season 2 of Starz’s strip-club melodrama “P-Valley,” about a line of work that is defined by in-person interaction. The proprietor of the Pynk nightclub, Uncle Clifford (a resplendent Nicco Annan), who is nonbinary and uses she/her pronouns, spends much of the season sporting a bejeweled mask, enforcing 2020-era Covid protocols while trying to keep her business afloat at 50 percent capacity.
The Pynk is a magnet for dreams, and not only naughty ones. The “P-Valley” creator, the playwright Katori Hall, respects her pole dancers as artists and athletes, and she recognizes their work for what it is: a job that manifests the economy tangibly, translating desire into dollar bills flying in the air.
And because dancers age out so quickly, the job also renders the pressures of the economy in time-lapse: You have just a few years to rise up the pole before your tiring muscles pull you back down.
Every dancer enters the Pynk with an eye on something else — a showbiz life, a business career, or simply escape — but one of the most affecting journeys of Season 2 belongs to Mercedes (Brandee Evans), who comes to realize that she has reached retirement age without having figured out her next step. “You’re just going to have to learn how to dream new dreams,” Uncle Clifford tells her. That’s the price of dreaming: You can’t afford to wake up.
The summer’s surprise buzz phenomenon, FX on Hulu’s “The Bear,” focused on the pressures of a different sort of service industry. Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), a high-end restaurant chef, comes home to run his family’s struggling Chicago sandwich joint after his drug-addicted brother’s suicide. The pandemic isn’t a factor in the story. But the show’s depiction of work as a kind of barely restrained combat (which sometimes boils over into actual combat) feels like a bespoke fit for the post-reopening economy of labor shortages and supply chain issues.
The memorable, high-decibel work sequences make “The Bear” look and sound like a war story that happens to take place in a kitchen. Work here is furious, violent and relentless. Flames roar up the sides of pans, pots clatter like artillery, slabs of beef are dragged and hoisted like casualties. Hands are burned, fingers slashed; the pace of the prep rush turns the kitchen staff into sweating, shouting bodies, meat cooking meat.
All the while, Carmy flashes back to memories of being mocked and belittled by his Michelin-starred boss in the restaurant where he used to work. At times, you wonder why he chooses to stick with this job that often makes him so unhappy. In the season finale, reminiscing about his brother at an Al-Anon meeting, he seems to hit on an answer: Sometimes our dreams are not ours alone, nor are they even our choice. “Me trying to fix the restaurant was me trying to fix whatever was happening with my brother,” he says. “And, I don’t know, maybe fix the whole family.”
Tumblr media
In politics, “the American dream” has long been used aspirationally, to evoke family and home. But as my colleague Jazmine Ulloa detailed earlier this year, the phrase has also lately been used ominously, especially by conservative politicians, to describe a certain way of life in danger of being stolen by outsiders.
The typical counterargument, both in politics and pop culture, has been that immigrants pursuing their ambitions help to strengthen all of America. (The Dream Act has its name for a reason.) But some recent stories have complicated this idea by questioning whether the dream itself — or, at least, defining that dream in mostly material terms — can be toxic.
The third season of Hulu’s “Ramy,” starring the comedian Ramy Youssef as a rudderless young Muslim from an immigrant family, takes on the theme directly. The title character’s parents, Maysa (Hiam Abbass) and Farouk (Amr Waked), have found prosperity tantalizingly out of reach, signing up with ride-share and grocery-delivery apps in their middle age.
Maysa has grown resigned, but Farouk remains in a poignant unrequited love affair with the dream. He chases real-estate deals; he gins up a hapless business selling ad space on takeout containers; he fantasizes about appearing on “Shark Tank.” (Ramy, meanwhile, has hit it big in the jewelry business, having partnered with some contacts in Israel, but finds himself more spiritually adrift than ever.)
In the season’s final episode, Maysa and Farouk, having come across a stash of hallucinogenic mushrooms, reminisce about their early days in the country when they would feed Ramy and his sister hot dogs, not knowing they contained pork. Stoned, they make a run to buy convenience-store franks, bite into the seductive, non-halal treats and realize that they taste disgusting. “Why did we sell our souls?” Farouk asks. “We gave it all up for hot dogs.”
Most recently, Hulu’s “Welcome to Chippendales” — about another kind of commercialized American meat — reconsiders the immigrant dream from the vantage of success. The story of Somen Banerjee (Kumail Nanjiani), the founder of the male-stripper empire, it is in many ways of a piece with this year’s glut of scam-and-scandal docudramas; it’s a rise-and-fall series in which the fall is less interesting and takes twice as long. (The creator, Robert Siegel, gave us the prosthetic fantasia “Pam & Tommy” earlier this year.)
The series stands apart, though, for showing how Banerjee, born in India, uses a learned idea of American appetites to pursue a received idea of the American dream. In some ways, being an outsider makes his success possible — much in America is novel to him, so he’s receptive to new ideas (like seminude dancers in bow ties).
Tumblr media
But his embrace of Americanness (for instance, he goes by “Steve” rather than “Somen”) cuts two ways. He experiences racism before and after he hits it big, but he also uses discrimination as a business tactic, ending up in court because of a scheme to bar Black patrons (whom, he concludes from experience, will make white customers see his club as less “classy”).
Banerjee has perhaps internalized the American dream too thoroughly. He gets his first intimation of this when he returns to India for his father’s funeral, his suitcase stuffed with gifts of electronics and Velveeta, hoping to be welcomed as a conquering success. Instead, his mother scolds him for leaving the family printing business to run a fleshpot. “We are middle-class people, Somen,” she says. “We did not need saving by America.”
He leaves, weighed down with rejection and processed cheese. Beyond his mother’s personal disappointment is the verdict that he has stopped being himself, but in the process he has not really become a new person either. He is simply a reflection of another culture’s artifice, an imitation of an imitation.
This is the danger of the American dream when you scale it down from the national to the individual level. You risk devoting your life to wanting something because it’s what you’ve been told you should want. Everybody loves a Cinderella story, but sometimes your dream, in reality, is just a wish somebody else’s heart made.
