We know Nick's terrible about things, Warner Bros is going through a rough time with canning projects left and right, Netflix is going through a bad time too, and Disney has gotten some criticism too, so do wonder which studios are still good for animation.

Disney no really not being a bootlicker but while these people at WBD & Netflix are killing their animation department, Disney has been pumping animated show after another...

Industry people and animation fans won't admit it beacuse either they are still mad on either TOH cancelation or the Blue Sky shut down, or the multiple mentality Disney = Evil... but the sad truth is this.... Disney like it or not right now..... is the only one pumping original animation... ...

Marquis de Lafayette (Hamilton)

• I mean yeah he was a good person in the musical but not so much irl

• Irl he was a real life white colonizer in the 18th century so yeah

• Same can go for Thomas Jefferson since they’re played by the same person

• Tbh I wouldn’t really say he is a bad person, it’s just that’s he every manager ever

Kakashi Hatake (Naruto)

• Okay I’ve only watched like 20 episodes of Naruto and then stopped because of how long the franchise was, but I’m still big boy simp for Kakashi

• This guy has DEFINITELY killed hundreds of people, you can see it in his face

• He looks like he reads some sort of non-con porn book in front of literal teenagers, so yeah

• Also it seems like he isn’t a very good trainer since all his students (except for the main characters) fail LMAO

Henry Ravenswood (Phantom Manor)

• Oh boy where to even start!

• He’s a greedy colonizer and businessman first off

• It’s also implied that he cheated on his wife with the family maid and there’s a small but unlikely theory that he raped them so…

• Literally MURDERED his daughter’s suitors and fiancé in cold blood

• Then trapped his daughter in his haunted manor for all eternity until she literally went insane and died

• And he also gives off big sweet home Alabama energy with her

• And he tries to murder the guests aka us lol

Why are people not talking about this:

In the Little Mermaid 2023 remake, they changed the setting of the story.

Despite what many believe, the original 1989 animated movie wasn't set in Denmark. Judging by the architecture of Prince Eric's castle, the animals present during Kiss the Girl, and the landscape of the land itself, the movie is set in the European Mediterranean. Disney all but confirmed this in latter years. There were actual theories about Eric's kingdom being in Italy.

In the remake, Eric's kingdom is an island heavily implied to be on the Caribbean sea.

Eric is adopted and his mother, the Queen is super alive in this, and she is black. Grimsby here is portrayed by a Pakistani-British actor, making him ambiguously brown. Carlotta was replaced by a character named Lashana, and she is portrayed by a Trinidadian actress.

The island population is super diverse, with black and brown people everywhere.

They have a tropical climate and the only trees seen are palm trees.

Instead of waltzing when they visit the kingdom, Ariel and Eric dance Caribbean music.

When Eric shows several maps to Ariel, he suspiciously cites the names of a lot of South America countries, like Venezuela and Colombia, implying that the kingdom is closer to these countries than it is to Europe. He even cites my country, Brazil, referred as the Brazilian Empire, which dates the movie from anywhere between 1822 and 1889, when Brazil was indeed an Empire.

Wednesday, September 6.

Studio Ghibli—films for the soul.

Or so goes the logic, according to one mysteriously unattributed quote beloved across the internet. It reads in full: "Disney movies touch the heart, but Studio Ghibli films touch the soul." This line is beloved, of course, because something in it rings true; something here resonates.

The #studio ghibli films, beginning with 1984's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind until this year's release The Boy and the Heron, are loved and acclaimed universally for their beauty, joy, sadness, and sheer sense of spirit. These are, in some ways, deeply romantic movies with rich characters and complex plots, which deal with a wealth of themes in the studio's singular and elusive style. Yet despite these otherworldly, fantastical qualities, there is something in these films that seems to touch on something universal, despite its deep rootedness in Japanese culture, custom, and mythology. And let it be said that animated food has never looked so good—and *never* will do again.

(P.s. Dear Reader, as Spirited Away, maybe the studio's most iconic film, prepares to arrive in Europe as a stage production, let it be said that I, Author Unknown, got tickets in the presale yesterday. Come, rejoice with me.)

Robin and Kitty having a super close sibling bond off screen means everything to me.

They both have animal-themed nicknames.

They're the two "youngest" ghosts, nearly the same age physically.

They're the only two ghosts who aren't native Brits (Jamaica and god-knows-where-Europe-maybe??).

Both act very childlike but also can be more mature/kind/wise than the others.

BALLOONS!!!! 🎈 🎈 🎈

DANCING!!! 💃 🕺

They're Aro/Ace solidarity imo.

Skygazing; Robin has his own constellations, Kitty loves finding shapes in the clouds.

Robin not wanting her to miss the ritual ("Nooo, eclipse is tonight!")

Kitty calling on Robin with one word for him to protect her in Happy Holiday. Robin being scary as fuck to protect his little sis.

Robin calling Eleanor a real cow for how she was with Kitty, the fact he watched their entire childhood and couldn't do anything to help Kitty must have sucked.

Kitty bursting into tears the moment she thinks Robin has been sucked off and her sigh of relief when she sees he's still there.

Him and Mary being the only ones unironically enjoying AMAZING KITTY!

She's the only one to instantly believe his theory about the pattern and like him is excited at the thought.

Him leaving the party and dancing he loves to comfort Kitty when he sees her crying, encouraging her to let it all out, be open that he does the same too, and help put her to bed. 🥹 and just the look he has watching her sleep.

Kitty picking him to be her caretaker while she's "pregnant" and Robin just going along with rubbing her feet even though he knows it's BS.

He totally taught her how to communicate with animals and they'll go into the forest together so she can talk to deer and mice and pet the ghost animals, like the two Disney Princesses they both are.

the asoiaf in my head is agonizingly accurate to medieval europe and also a fantasy animation akin to disney's sleeping beauty with painted backgrounds. and it's also a surreal cult animation with swirling colours and odd shapes. it's bakshi's rotoscoped hobbit and neo-medieval victorian false history aesthetics. and its a 50s historical drama in saturated technicolour or a silent film in harsh black and white. its my everything<3
