Do you think Senator Bob Menéndez should resign?
Absolutely.
And he can't use the excuse that was brought up the first time he was indicted for corruption (in 2015), when it was suggested that if he resigned he would be giving up a Senate seat to the other party because the Governor of New Jersey at the time was a Republican. The current Governor is a Democrat and it wouldn't jeopardize the razor-thin Democratic majority in the Senate.
Plus, Menendez is arguably the most corrupt member of Congress from either party, which is quite an achievement in 2023. He shouldn't have survived the 2015 indictment for corruption which resulted in a mistrial. He is like a caricature of a crooked fat cat politician with his wads of cash stuffed in clothing that literally has his name branded on it. He's cartoonishly corrupt!

I wonder-
We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal.
As I learn the stories of the men that wrote that paper or the men it was written for,
I wonder.
I wonder what else they could have etched on that paper.
I wonder if they truly believed that they were the ones that created.
When in reality, all they created was on the skull and backs of the people they whipped to plant the seeds of the trees meant to build buildings that they were never meant to step a single boot in.
They tell us white lies about the black and white of their own twisted minds. They scroll on their parchment about the amazing new country they got to build.
When the American children sit down at their desks and pull out their own pens and paper to read and learn about those they wish to become they are not taught about the men and women who built the symbols of the country they stand in now.
We do not learn the terms.
We do not learn about Pattyrollers or why those who escaped bondage were given the title of Maroon.
We are not told of those who helped their fellow Americans cross rivers and boarders just to get to another place that they hoped was at least a little bit better.
But now, almost 250 years later we stand in a Nation that turns a blind eye to those men and women who are still building our symbols, fighting our wars and dying because they dared to walk down the street holding a phone.
When are we going to decide that this nation that we are told is going to be given to us shouldn’t be given but rather already passed down. We look at these men, balding in suits, their minds already half gone and we have debates over which one is more sane.
10,9,8,7,6,5, for we are heading into liftoff into a era generations from now are going to wonder why we stood in our places, holding our hands over our hearts, reciting an anthem that has no meaning anymore.
Our children’s children’s children, and their children after that are not going to sit in classrooms thinking about the accomplishments we make today but rather the things we stood by watching and did nothing about.
At least that is the hope I hold in my heart.
For if the last 250 years of this “great” nation are any amount of evidence there is going to be nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing that even Ares would be proud of, for he believes in fighting for our differences, fighting those we believe have wronged us. But instead we put them on pedestals and allow them to dictate our country.
From rocket pops to fireworks, we are told on the anniversary of our independence from a country we are worse than now, that gunpowder and fire is the only thing that we should hold in our hearts.
So I wonder;
How long it may take for school grounds and cemeteries to become synonyms.
How long we are going to allow the rotten roots of our government to grow and fester and pollute countless others.
How long we are going to hire policemen, lawyers, teachers and doctors from the lists of people we have required to knock on the doors of every neighbor they have.
I may only have walked this Earth for less than two decades but I wonder if I have learned more about the spirits of our broken, forgotten world than those tasked to protect it.
But I can only wonder.

You can be mad at Biden all you want on this. But 86 Republicans pushed for it too and helped get it passed. Surveillance State 2.0 since the Patriot Act which Bush enacted it. Both sides do not care about you.
