#Chimera parent au for now?
draw-of-the-moon · 3 months
Note
Si in the au in which nya and Kai are the chimerashiping children how do their parents finde them and how do they start bonding as a family?
Oh shit! Someone is actually interested in my lil au, I never would've guessed!
So I will preface that I came up with this au back when I was only on S3 of Ninjago and I still haven't caught up on all the seasons. I've watched up to a couple of episodes in S8 before I got distracted by school but I do wanna see the show through! Okay, now that disclaimers are out of the way-
In my au, Kai and Nya were raised by Chimera from the start! Ray and Maya aren't in the picture, even as adoptive parents because I feel like there are too many potential baby hijinks I couldn't pass up on thinking bout with Chimera. So here are few baby hc's, just for you anon!
Red built a special babysitter bull clone just to look after Kai and Nya when they were little. With Kai and Nya discovering their elemental powers earlier than canon, the poor clone has been through the wringer.
MK and Mei nearly had a heart attack the first time baby Kai crawled through DBK's lava curtain cause they had no idea Kai inherited Red's resistance. Kai also inherited MK's stone monkey tendency to sink like a rock whenever he's in water- a discovery Chimera made during a visit to the weather station when Dragonfruit was trying to convince MK to put on sunscreen properly cause “we need to set an example for Kai! If you don’t take it seriously, he won’t either!”. Kai wandered off while they were bickering, eager to cool off and when they heard a little squeal and splash, Chimera jumped into a panic mood. Turns out he was fine but now Kai can't go near a pool without one of his parents hovering with some floaties lol
Mei initially had no intention of carrying any kids for the trio- at least until she held baby Kai in her arms for the first time and turned to Red like "I want one"
Toddler Kai and Nya have a dragon and monkey onesie respectively cause they wanted to look like their other mama/baba
Not baby related but I like to think in this au because Nya was raised by Chimera, instead of Samurai X, her mech is inspired by Mei's dragon heritage!

HEY, YOU! 🫵
Are you a Tumblr user? (Yes)
Do you love Grant Wilson? (I should hope so)
Did you listen to this week’s Teen Talk and think, “Hey, that’s me! I’m the Grant angst enjoyer who was unnecessarily sad about him having to kill that chimera despite all the other wacky violence in this podcast!” ????
Well, boy, do I have the fic for you!
Um. You should read my fic Silver Linings 😁 which is now complete!
It’s over 110k words of 13-14 year old Grant angst (yay) set in a normal life AU! Mostly about his relationships (with his parents, his classmates, and his soccer coach Darnell), as well as his queerness and mental health struggles :) I’d say it’s coming-of-age adjacent.
Sound interesting? (Say yes /j) GOOD NEWS! 😎 You can.. go read it! (Wow) But if you’ve already read it, I’m planning two sequels and at least two Darryl-centric spinoff fics. I’m not sure which will start next, but it will either be White Lies or Good as Gold! (first time I’m announcing those titles ^_^ everyone clap. /j again) Thank you for the support and love on this fic!
Okay shameless self-promo over 😁 My AO3 is chalcedony if you’re interested in checking it out! Idk if anyone will see this rn but I’ll probably rb it after the S2 finale or something idk. Okay byeeeeee :3c

Thinking about a pjo au where Steve's been a permanent camper for...forever. idk I only have two vivid scenes of it in my mind.
First, Dustin is a son of Hephaestus and has been trailing after Steve since his first summer when he was ten and was stuck in the Hermes cabin while he was unclaimed. (The Hermes cabin is really split into Hermes kids and Unclaimed kids. It's big and warm but there's still that unspoken divide there. Hermes, it seems, despite being the patron of the unclaimed children of his godly peers, is always quick to claim his own. They'll be in the cabin together anyways but, well. He seems to see their pain of being unwanted more than others.) So whilst there Dustin, ten and fascinated by camp, imprinted on the oldest, snarkiest unclaimed kid there. The unofficial Head Camper of the unclaimed (as you cannot be a head camper if you are unclaimed), Steve.
Which is how Steve ended up going to Hawkins for the summer before camp three years later with Robin (daughter of Selene, who he met the year before and got on with like a house on fire) at his side, in the stupidest uniforms known to man.
And working at scoops is how they end up finding Eddie, who seems to be able to see through the Mist just fine, and who monsters are after. Which, shit. Means he's eighteen or nineteen and has lasted in the outside world without camp, a remarkable feat. But! They've got bigger fish to fry! Like getting to camp.
Dustin babbles as Steve drives, Robin in the passenger seat, all the way to long island. He tells Eddie about camp, about sword fighting and capture the flag and the banquets and campfires. He tells Eddie about the forge he spends so much time in, all his friends, the Party, the way he's wired the radios to work across the country so he can speak to Suzie (daughter of Athena, a secret kept from her adoptive mother who was told Suzie was her father's cousin's child) all the way in Utah in the fall. Robin pipes in, every now and again, offers information about the gods, how camp runs.
Steve focuses on the road. He talks about the kids, Dustin's friends mostly, and Robin, and the rest of camp. It irks Eddie, that this guy who took out a Chimera with a baseball bat studded with, apparently, magic nails, isn't really adding anything. Dustin's been at camp every summer since he was ten, Robin came two and a half years ago, and Eddie knows their godly parents too. So he leans on the driver's seat, close to Steve.
"so." He says. Casual-like. "Who's your" he wiggles his fingers "godly parent?"
Steve shrugs. "Unclaimed." He says. His hands grip the steering wheel.
Eddie hums. Notices Robin glancing at him and shaking her head. Ignores it. "Well. Bummer. How old were you when you found camp or whatever?"
Steve's knuckles turn white. He answers.
"six months."
Eddie doesn't get it.
"you've only been at camp six months? But-you talk like you've been there for longer. When you guys found out how old I was you were all surprised, wh-"
"you asked how old I was. As far as Chiron and Mr. D can tell, I was six months old when I was dropped off with a note that had just my first name on it at the edge of the woods. Dryads brought me to them when they found me. Been a full time camper ever since."
There's. Heaviness, in the silence that follows.
Eddie knows about abandonment and wanting more and knowing he deserves more. Knows how much it means to him that Uncle Wayne took him in and calls him son so affectionately it may as well be true. And. Steve said he was unclaimed. That he's been at camp since he was six months old. He's been a full time camper his entire goddamn life. Ain't that a kick in the pants.
Steve shrugs again. "Neither of my parents want me, my mortal parent couldn't get rid of me fast enough and my godly one hasn't made a peep. So. I look after the other unclaimed kids. It's how I met Dustin."
They don't talk about parents so much after that.
and idk plot things happen blah blah blah
THEN.
Steve sees a kid, maybe ten, on the edge of the woods. He pauses, concerned. Camp is safe for the most part, but there are still monsters in the woods. Drifting over, he sees the girl has a scarf loosely over her head, like a veil, letting dark curls fall in front of her eyes from how she's pulled her knees up to sit. He doesn't recognize her, but that doesn't really mean much.
"hey! You okay over here?" He says, hopes he comes off as friendly. His nerves have been frazled and he just wants to sit by the peer and watch the sunset with Robin and Eddie after dinner. Breathe easy for a little while.
The girl smiles at him, tilts her head to the side. He kneels in front of her, trying to make himself smaller so she's not afraid.
"I'm Steve. You doing okay here? It's not really safe to be alone in the woods..."
The girl reaches a hand out, her skin baby soft. She sighs. "I know exactly who you are, Steve Harrington." She says.
Her eyes, he realizes, are so much older than a ten year old's. He says nothing as they look at each other.
"do you remember," she starts, "when you first gave your offering to me, specifically?" And Steve knows, even though he already knew, who this is.
He nods. She brushes her thumb across his cheek, tenderly, motherly, for all she looks nearly half his age. "You were four. Barely old enough to really understand what the offerings of food you scraped into the fire were for. But you did it, and you did it for me. Very few ever do it just for me. But you were looking for a home, and I was the one you thought could help you find it. You kept doing it for me, giving up your best bite, every day after."
"yes." He says, because what else do you say to a goddess? To a goddess you have prayed to when you could think of no one else who would care to listen?
She releases his face and stands, slowly, before reaching out her hand for him to take as he gets up himself.
"I have a proposition for you." She says, swinging their hands between them, as children are wont to do.
"oh?"
She squeezes his hand. "Yes. I cannot tell you your godly parent, even if I knew who, as my siblings and peers have made it clear that sharing that type of secret is not allowed." She gazed up at him, big dark eyes surrounded by tight black curls escaping her veil. "And what a shame that is. Leaving you Unclaimed."
Steve squeezes her hand back. They slowly walk towards where they shall eat. "well. That is the gods' prerogative."
She hums. "They are a fool, whoever they are. But. Their foolishness is my reward. That brings me to my offering for you." She stops, they are near the amphitheatre, turning to face him fully and holding out her other hand for him to take. "I have heard your prayers to me at each meal, seen you care for your fellow campers. I have watched you grow and change into someone trustworthy, someone loyal and caring. I have seen how the children gather around you for comfort and how you freely give it, how you take comfort in your service to others." She breathes deeply, as though to steady herself. "I have seen my fellow gods look over you, an Unclaimed child of no-one, who never truly lived in the outside world before coming to the haven they made, and I have been angered by it. You are steadfast and loyal. You are brave and protective. You have worked hard to create not only a place that is safe, but a home that is welcoming."
She smiles widely now, giddy. Steve still does not speak. A lump caught in his throat.
"it is that last fact, that has led me here today. I offer you this, Steve. My cabin is yours to do with what you will, to give a home for those homeless. For so long as you tend my hearth and keep the home, should you accept it, I would give you my patronage." She releases his hands to reach up to cup his face between her small hands. She brushes away the tears that have gathered on his cheeks.
"I offer you the home you have given so many, the place to belong you have been building for others, Steve of Camp Half Blood. Will you accept this? The one gift I can give my most loyal knowing worshipper since the Vestal Virgins?" They both giggle, absurdly, at this.
Steve nods. "Yes." He whispers, "yes, Lady Hestia, I accept your patronage."
She pulls his face down, goes up on her tip toes, and places a gentle, loving kiss on his forehead. When she pulls back, her eyes reflect the bonfire that has been lit beside them.
"go, then. And tend to my hearth and your home." She says, and releases him fully at last.
He turns to the fire, to the tables laid out, to his fellow campers watching him and the goddess from their benches. He scratches the back of his neck. Smiles.
Dustin, as he so often does, breaks the silence. "Holy shit!"
Beside Steve, Hestia is gone.

I'm back with more winx redesigns that have already become my ocs
Below we will have the new designs and a little information about each of them.
Firstly we will start with my little pumpkin Mirta! Mirta in my au is a dark fairy, the fairy of illusions. She is almost in a relationship with the swamp witch Lucy, but Mirta doesn't notice the way Lucy acts around her.
Her groupmates are Ahisa the Passion Fairy, Alice the Snow Fairy, Jenny the Mirror Fairy and Lee-Hona the Singing Fairy.
Mirta is pansexual and this is her short summary
Tumblr media
What does she hide under her hats?
Tumblr media
Swamp Witch, Lucy! Lucy comes from a long line of potion-making witches and fairies, all starting with her great-great-grandmother Cuca, who is a well teacher in Cloud Tower. Lucy is in love with Mirta, but who said the little clown realized her good intentions?
Lucy's team is Beast Witch Erica and Deep Sea Witch Darya.
Lucy is a trans and lesbian girl.
Tumblr media
Those next to Ludy are Erica and Darya, respectively.
Tumblr media
Feel the love in the air with Ahisa! Ahisa is a little fairy from Limphea, her power is to make people fall in love/have good feelings because of her plant pheromones, which is why she is the fairy of passion.
Their group is Mirta the dark fairy of illusions, Alice the snow fairy, Jenny the Mirror Fairy and Lee-Hona the Singing Fairy.
Ahisa is often seen by Alphea helping young fairies and dark fairies find love.
Even though she is the passion fairy, Ahisa is aroace.
Tumblr media
It's time to be gracious with Galathea, the fairy of grace! Galathea is part of a large business family in the capital region of Melody, the Ming family, her family is popular for having several famous singers and exceptional composers. Galathea loves her family, but doesn't really like being the center of attention.
His group are Miky the fairy of rocks, Francine the fairy of rivers, Ortencia the fairy of mind and Kimmy the dark fairy of thunder.
Galathea is pansexual, at the moment she is not in love with anyone… Except for a fairy who is becoming popular for having recently saved Alphea from the witches, one who has powers related to music.
Tumblr media
The dark night fairy, Chimera! Chimera is the youngest of the royal family of Solaria, sister of Stella and Kyral, her power is eclipse fairy.
Chimera, for reasons of preference, went to Beta Academia, away from her sisters and the influence of her parents. She doesn't have a group yet, but she's trying her best to make friends.
She still doesn't know her sexuality, but that's not a concern for her.
Tumblr media
The fairy who knows all things because of animals, Roxy! Roxy is the animal fairy, being the first of a new generation of fairies on planet Earth.
It's not very easy for her to make friends, but the Winx are helping her to make friends with her group.
Her group is Kyral, the fairy of falling stars, Clarice, the dark fairy of explosions, Loni, the fairy of electricity, and Cindy, the earthly fairy of frost.
It's quite common to see Roxy away from everyone and talking to the fairy animals, missing her Artu.
Roxy is asexual.
Little joke for Roxy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that's it guys, now until in a couple of weeks, take care and stay hydrated, bye!!!

Hi!! Could you write one of the Curtwen prompts I made, yet didn’t cut it? I love your writing style!!
Honestly there was a bit of deliberation here because you put some really good ideas out there on the form, but I did say I'd write em myself, and by all means, I'll still do it! So, I decided to go for this prompt:
Tumblr media
Would you take a modern au from me? Can I do that?
I mean, I'm going to anyway, because I have a dire need to call Curt and Owen husbands (and also for wider Starkid lore), but i just thought I'd warn you beforehand!
Tumblr media
"Agent Carvour, have you found anything yet?"
Owen leaned back away from his research. He'd been looking at the same page now for a while, trying to make some sense of it. Redacted government files were hard to get hold of, but even harder to make ends of. His system had been trying to translate it, but not even he had the software for that.
"Quite possibly, sir. I have a few sources, at least."
"What have you got?"
With an air of something that was almost excitement and almost elation, Owen pulled up a series of documents and started the walk through them. "Well, sir, the easiest source was from a few years ago. There's a company in Michigan that's been trying to conduct various temporal experiments under their parent company— some kind of analyst company, I think. They're surprisingly ordinary. Anyway, apparently the experiments just… Stopped. They never drew a conclusion on whether or not their research was connected to what was on the other side."
This had all started when Chimera had dug up a series of centuries old reports about people claiming to have looked into the eyes of old gods. None of the people had known each other, but all of the reports showed some form of consistency, and all told of great, unknowable power.
So, they had decided to look into it, to see if there had been anyone else who'd dared to brave the process of trying to find an answer. Owen was one of those lucky enough to find himself with the resources to start a thorough investigation.
"They didn't finish?"
"No, I don't know what happened, but the reports just stopped one day."
"Is there anything else?"
"An american government report, but it's as hard as you can imagine to decipher. Most of it is redacted…"
"Anything worth noting?"
Owen nodded, carefully turning back and switching the tabs. This felt a little like he was giving a presentation that he hadn't prepared for, and he hadn't felt like this in quite some time. He took a breath, trying to slow down the rampage that was going on in his head. "They started in the early noughts. 2005, to be precide. That's the earliest I'd gotten without looking at those old reports from the pioneers. A branch of the military tried to build a gateway to the other side, to investigate what existed outside of our plane. I don't know names, only one. The name of the man who performed the experiment."
"They got this gateway open?"
"Yes, sir. And they sent someone through. I think there's a good reason why his is the only name they disclosed."
"Why?"
"Because he was declared dead, sir."
His screen still displayed the document, and the man's name sat among the black markouts, clear enough to see. Cross, W.D. Apparently, he'd ventured into the portal, and nobody heard from him or saw him after the date of the experiment. They gave up the search after a month, and after that, Colonel Cross was indeed declared dead.
"So, another dead end?"
"Maybe not. I'll do what I can to uncover this with what I've got available, but it was scanned, so…. It might take some time." Owen was normally confident in his abilities, and uncovering government documents was a difficult yet necessary part of the job. There was something almost genuinely enthralling about scraping off the parts that the world's governments wanted to keep secret. It felt like giving people a small yet surprisingly effective slice of justice every time.
"Keep looking, Carvour. We need to know if this is viable, or even worth our time…"
If Owen had any kind of normal life— if he and his husband didn't both do the dirty work for secret operation services— he would have a blast trying to decide how to describe the intricacies of what he'd been researching lately. The throws of domestic life confounded him to no end, which was why it was so funny when he and Curt tried to imitate that.
The otherwise simple question of "how was your day" turned into a battle of who could craft the most believable lie that better concealed what they'd actually done. Neither wanted to jeopardise their jobs, and Curt had always been brilliant at crafting stories, so it was never dull.
He started to think about what today's excuse would be. Something about pioneers, or the Oregon trail, or perhaps he could bring up that old, dead colonel somehow, that would be interesting to add to the pile.
--
"You know what I'm gonna ask already…"
By the time he got home, Curt was already waiting for him, and the mid-spring sun was starting to set. For anyone else, it was a day at the office, but the trails he had begun to uncover had really put all other days at the office to shame.
He laughed softly, having prepared this answer a number of hours before, and took up a position on the couch. "No, love, you first. I insist."
"Fine, okay," Curt answered with a chuckle. "It was nothing really, just your standard… But, the bear returned, and in about a month, I'm gonna get really rich and run off to central Europe, with a really pretty lady and a dollar store box of magic tricks."
"The same bear from last month?"
"Yeah. Bastard won't leave me alone."
"Sounds wild. Are you coming back after your plans to run off with this really pretty lady?"
"Plan is to cut myself off after three weeks, but at this rate, I might not make it two."
"Not good enough?"
"Owen, I'm a bit too gay for that." To sell his point, he flashed his wedding band, and Owen laughed harder. "Besides," he added, covering his own bout of laughter. "Who needs a fake wife when I've got my own right here?"
Owen shot him a faux-offended glance. "How dare you!"
"You might fool the guys at work, O, but you couldn't pretend you don't think about it…"
Or that he hadn't been experimenting in that part of himself in little segments since he was seventeen. Turns out he suited long hair better, and he wouldn't hesitate to admit that he both looked and felt rather good with the occasional flourish.
"You know me well..."
"I should hope so! Anyway, what're you keeping from me? How was your day?"
"Office, just like you. I've had a conversation with a pioneer, and tried to erase marker pen over the body of a dead soldier. Oh, and I tried to teach myself statistical analysis."
"Jeez, that was— that was a whole rollercoaster there, huh?"
"Mhm, I've been busy."
"You can say that again, god… So, a pioneer? Like those guys that travelled to Oregon?"
"Yeah. Quite interesting people, if a little paranoid." Something other than their oxen might be watching them would've been a perfect addition to the statement, but Owen felt that was a little too close to the line to pass, so he decided not to add it.
The important part was, apart from the knowledge that Curt was on an assignment in a month's time, both of them were none the wiser. Curt didn't need to know that he had started the deep dive into a pack of eldritch gods and was even slightly nervous about the outcome.
He didn't sleep well that night. He knew that he had right to believe that this was all one great hoax, that there was something in the water that made the pioneers mass hallucinate this supposed watcher. They all travelled on the same trail, it was entirely plausible that all of them found the same hallucinogenic and envisioned a thousand eyes watching them and their familes. It was less of a coincidence when two subsidaries of larger companies started describing details of experiments that led them to discovering other beings beyond just the watcher, of course, but he still wasn't sure whether he was privy to believing any of it.
There was something about redacted government files, though, that were meant to be believed. There was a reason they hid information from the public, and that was often because they had found something worth disclosing in the first place. That meant huge news, large press cover ups… The whole works… And that was the last thing any self-respecting government with something to hide would want. Owen imagined the size of the initial press conferences for dealings like Roswell, how many people must've shown up to that conference, under the impression that they were going to get answers, only for the press to redact the next day and claim that it was no more than a weather balloon.
He felt like he was dealing with a weather balloon of his own right now. This was something that this branch of the military clearly didn't want people knowing. The only reason they'd had to disclose any information at all was because one of their own had died looking for this information, and they had to provide the closure for whatever family he had left. Part of him wondered what they'd said, how they'd tried to cover up this man's imminent demise at the hands of another dimension. What did his family know? Was he ever given a sendoff?
When Owen tried to sleep that night, plagued with the thoughts of how much his research was worth, and what really happened on the other side, he couldn't get his head in the right place to take a suitable rest for long enough. Flashes of colour— brighter than anything he'd ever seen— danced behind his eyelids, chasing each other in sequence. Blue. Purple. Yellow. Pink. Green. White. Blue…. He didn't have much of the capacity to think, not when those colours started consuming his subconscious thought, but he spared a moment to the hope that he may get answers of his own if he stuck around long enough.
"He thinks he's brave… He thinks we don't know about him…"
Whatever dream he had been having was taken over by blurred edges and violent pangs of pain that he was sure he could feel outside of this existence. Everything faded out, leving only ruin in it's wake. Broken pieces, scrambled signals… Owen didn't even try and make sense of it, he already understood the futility of trying. There was nothing left in his mind but those colours and those voices— for he was sure there was more than one. A sickening chorus, holding perfect time with each other.
"He's foolish, if he thinks he can go further without us finding out."
"Owennnn…"
"We know what you're doing, Owen…. It's not going to last."
He'd thought about meeting his maker before. He'd thought about the possibility of death, the idea that he may not live to see another day eventually. It was hard to deliberate something so serious in his early thirties, but his line of work called for it. He knew that he had a dangerous job, and that there were few who would be able to save him if something happened.
But, he'd never considered the possibility of his own demise to this extent before. In the formless remains of his dream, where he was forced into hearing these voices talk about his death and how soon it would be to coming, he had pause for deliberation. And it wasn't good.
He had to strain to take control of his own voice, in this space that was once his own. Once so sacred, now scarce and left entirely to the whim of whatever was taking residence in his mind. This was a bad idea. All of this research was a bad idea, and he was suddenly more aware of that than he was anything else. Never before had he had such a violent urge to overturn everything he'd worked on for the sake of something this seemingly trivial.
"There's nothing you can do. It's already started. This is bigger than me…"
"We know that. You're not the only one we have heard trying to work your way into what is ours… Choose your next step carefully, Owen. I'm sure we would delight in taking you in the same direction as the others…"
Before he could really ask what that meant, he was left entirely alone. The ruin of his dream still stood strong, which was strange enough given that the voices had left him alone, but he had the strangest feeling that there was more to this landscape than just what he was being shown. He started to wander, to look around in an attempt to find the real end to all of this. His mind was a wasteland, taken over by the lack of colour and the apparently deafening absence of those voices that had only appeared a moment before. He felt empty without them, although he knew nothing more than the sequence of colours that paraded through his vision.
Blue… Purple…. Yellow…
The pattern was familiar, like he'd seen it before somewhere. And while he wasn't resting easy, he couldn't force himself to wake up, either. No matter how hard he tried, he was just left stuck, wandering the expanse until he found what he was apparently looking for.
Pink…. Green…. White… Blue…
The expanses of his mind stretched out into a road, occupied by nothing but empty space. He supposed that was mostly his own fault; he had known for years that his imagination was never one to be put on par with anything else. He couldn't so vividly picture that which others could, and he'd never really had much of a capacity to dream, either.
So, this warning was strange. Seeing such vivid, bright colours in the back of his mind, knowing that he couldn't have conjured them himself…
He started to walk the road, curious enough to want to know where it went.
"Owen?"
That voice wasn't like the ones who had left moments before. That voice had a personality, and a person to go with. It was warm, though scared. Human all the same. And Owen knew the shape of it.
"Owen?"
Owen let his instinct lead him down the road, through it's many curves and winds. Eventually, the road gave way to what could only possibly be a stage. There was a set of stairs to one side, that he let himself climb before he could think to wonder where they led, and then the familiar voice gave way to a man in the wings, staring at him with desperate, fear-lined eyes. Of course he knew the voice, and of course he had never tried to doubt himself on the matter.
He tried to advance towards Curt, but he took a hasty step back, shaking his head.
"Curt?"
"Prove you're Owen."
"I'm sorry?"
Curt hesitated, and then slowly emerged from the wings. Even though he stood on the light of the stage, it still looked like he was carefully enveloped in shadow, like the darkness was a comfort to him. Owen looked around, wondering what had made him so cautious, and whether it was still around. Had Curt seen what he'd seen? What had those things whispered to him?
"I'm not falling for it again. Tell me you're actually Owen…"
Owen frowned, not wanting to dwell too much on why Curt was so afraid to reach out to him and realise that all of this was as real as they could get it. "Curt, love, I don't know what you want me to say…" There was a certain desperation about him too. Improvisation had never been his strong suit, but he wass confident that, given the right prompt, he would be able to convince his husband that he was who he said he was, to quell any discrepancy that it may have been otherwise.
"Don't. Show me… What happened on your 25th birthday."
The pieces fit into place, and Owen nodded dutifully. He had been out in the field that day, a strikingly hot day in the middle of June. The two of them had barely ended up with three hours together by the end of it, and they'd gone out drinking to celebrate what little time was left of his birthday. He'd never been particularly big on celebrating, but Curt had insisted. They were newly married then, and getting used to the idea of sharing a life with someone else. That was one of the first nights following their wedding when Owen truly came to realise that he'd made entirely the right decision, and that there was nobody he'd rather share his life with than Curt Mega.
"My 25th… That was a home ground mission. I was in the state."
"What happened to you?"
Owen smiled, somewhere between fondness and a need to hide the melancholic air that hung about that question. He pushed up the sleeve of his jacket, and huffed a weary breath of laughter. "I was trying to make my exit, but the suit jacket caught on a fence. Here…" With his sleeve rolled to just the right length, Owen held out his arm and pointed out a pale flash just below his elbow— a jagged scratch that had never quite healed right. "That's what happened after the fabric tore. Is that enough?"
Curt had known about the scar. He'd also known about the story. He was pretty sure that nobody else knew, though, so in his head, that had always been his fallback option in the event that he was ever sure Owen needed to prove himself. Those stories lined up perfectly, and while Owen had missed out on some of the details, in the grander scheme of things, he'd gotten it exactly right. He shifted, letting a knowing smile cross his face through the fear that still gripped him.
"It's really you…"
"Of course. Why wouldn't it be?"
Curt's approach was still careful, premeditated. Even though he knew the truth now, there was still something about him that screamed a lack of trust directly into his ear, and it made actually reaching out for Owen so much harder. "You… You were trying to kill me."
"What now?"
"I know what I saw…"
"I don't doubt you, but I would never… I swear it on my life."
"I know, that's why it was strange… I— What the hell's happening?" This stage was the only thing connecting the two of them to reality. There was nothing beyond it but the end of the road that Owen had travelled down, and nothing behind it but black, empty space.
Owen let his instinct take over. If the two of them were going to face the unknown, whatever and wherever this was, then they were going to do it together. They always had, and they always would. That was the way things worked, especially for the two of them, because their lives were built so heavily on the idea of distrust that any semblance of the opposite they could get, they would cling to. Normally that was exclusively each other, and so the world wasn't usually much larger than the two of them.
Their hands connected in the middle of the emptiness. Owen pulled Curt Closer to him, and the two of them stood side, performers to an unknown audience, marionettes for something larger than themselves. They exchanged a glance, and Owen registered the warm, homely spark residing in Curt's eyes.
"I think we're trapped in a nightmare, crazy as it sounds," he tried to respond, but he wasn't entirely sure where this was going to go. "I can't wake up, but I remember falling asleep last night."
"Me too. I fell asleep before you did, you were still reading."
"Right, and now there's this. Whatever this is. did you, by chance, see those colours too?"
Curt nodded. "They came before you did, before the- other you. Blue, and purple, and yellow…"
"…Pink, and green, and white..?"
"And then blue again."
Owen heaved a sigh. "Curt, there's something I have to confess. It's safe to do so now, there's little that could get in the way of what I have to admit, but this is one of those things I wouldn't be able to tell you awake, you understand?"
There was a moment's pause, in which Curt tried to work around Owen's phrasing. Both of them felt the incredibly revealing sense that they were being watched, so Curt understood that Owen had gone into the professional mindset— switching off his senses for the sake of making as much sense of something as possible. It was always how he rationalised his way through situations, and it hadn't failed him yet.
Eventually, Curt nodded again, as the words started to sink in and he started to get a sense of what was being said. "This about what you told me this evening?"
"Yeah, I'm afraid there's a little more to it than what I told you, but I suppose that was rather obvious."
A nervous breath of laughter left Curt, only partially voluntary. "I thought there'd be a bit more to it than erasing marker pen over the body of a dead soldier…. What the hell kinda explanation was that, anyway?"
"One I spent a good hour crafting, thank you very much. I thought it was clever."
"Better than a pretty lady and a box of tricks?"
"And a bear, yes."
"… And the bear. Right. Well, what's that mean? erasing marker pen over the body of a dead soldier, what're you saying there?"
"I've…" This is not going to get you done for. Those documents were already top secret before you saw them. And if it gets you out of this nightmare prison, then surely it has to be worth it. "I've been uncovering sealed military case files that might explain what's happening to us right now."
Curt's eyes went wide. "Fucking what?!"
"It's all part of the job. I can't… I can't elaborate. Know only what everyone else knows: that the only reason any part of this is disclosed at all is because someone died during one of the experiments."
"What's that got to do with what's happening here?"
"That's what they were researching."
That seemed to click to some degree. At least, Curt seemed to understand a few of the larger pieces, perhaps the more obvious ones. "The colours?" In his head, there was an experiment, someone tried to make sense of whatever that was in their shared mindscape. Someone— a soldier, presumably, had died in the middle of these experiments, and now Owen had gotten tangled in this mess through his agency, and the two of them had been dropped into the same nightmare.
Owen nodded. "The colours."
At the moment he said that, a loud rumble disrupted their moment and forced their attention out into the expanse of nothing. Laughter— multiple sources with varying shrieks and gasps that couldn't be placed to a single source— burst from behind the wings, and from in front of them, and from the endless expanse of black that surrounded them. A loud crack followed, and Curt swore as the stage splintered beneath his feet. For a split second, his grip loosensed, and the next time the ground rumbled, they were torn apart by the growing crack in the stage. He staggered back, and the two of them ended on opposite sides of the stage, the crack between them growing and delving deeper into the unknown.
"Owen!" He called, trying to regain his footing but falling back.
"Curt! Hold on!" Owen yelled through the growing laughter, scrambling back to reach out for the pulley system backstage. He needed a foothold on something, a way to sturdy himself so he could regroup and think. It was too loud, he couldn't think in this kind of heat, with this kind of mess, and Curt, and-
Another crack. The stage was starting to fall away from itself, split not quite perfectly in two. Owen's breath ran short. In the swirls of colour and mayhem and possibilities, he saw a way out. One chance to get this right, and to make sure that they both survived the fall while they were still stuck here. He gripped the rope tight, levering himself further towards the crack, and looked to Curt. "You're gonna have to jump it!" He called, desperation winning over any attempts to stay sane. "Don't worry! You know I'll never let you down!"
"Are you crazy?!" Curt managed, staring into the gap. "I can't jump that, it's too far!"
"Curt, before the whole place splits in half, you have to get over here!"
"What if I don't make it?"
"Trust me! Please!"
Curt backed off a few paces. Owen stood ready, one hand gripping the rope wrapped around his wrist, and the other reaching out as far as he could, waiting for a move to be made. After a singular preparatory breath, he sprinted for the gap, and pushed off from the splintered wood at the edge.
He reached out.
Owen reached out.
Their fingertips connected briefly in the space, and then Curt slipped away beneath his grasp.
Owen threw himself forward, feeling the rope worming itself free and burning his wrist in the process. He'd promised. He wasn't going to let Curt fall. And he was nothing if not a man of his word.
Curt's eyes squeezed shut, preparing for an endless fall through the ineviatble. Something laced around his wrist and he felt himself stop moving. Exerting all the caution he knew to exert, he looked up, and caught a familiar whiskey brown staring back at him.
"I've got you!" Owen breathed, and Curt fought to angle himself so that he could get a better chance to grab the broken stage floor. When Owen started hauling backwards, Curt managed to get a hold of the edge of the stage, and made it a joint effort to haul him to his feet. "You're alright… You're okay…"
Curt essentially fell into Owen's arms. Owen held on tight, like he could lose his partner at any second to the swirls and the crevice. He stared out into the emptiness, ignoring the very real pain that he could feel at his wrist but cherishing the very reel feeling of Curt's shirt underneath his hands. The very air seemed to shift. Owen wasn't previously aware that colours could get angry, but this green that flooded the space behind his eyes was pissed. He could feel it.
So was he. Pissed, and way more desperate than a man ought to be.
"Alright," he muttered once, and Curt drew back ever so slightly. He noticed Owen was staring off into the greater expanse, and hoped for all it was worth that he couldn't see something out there.
"Alright!" His voice got louder, and he tried to mask his utter despair in an authorative tone. "I get it. You hear me? I get it!"
Everything fell eerily silent. The only sound that remained was the pounding of Owen's heart in his ears. He took a breath, strangely certain of himself. Glanced at Curt. Spared his attention on the void again.
"That soldier… Wilbur Cross? That was your fault, wasn't it? There's a good reason nobody can get very far into digs like these, and it's because you strive to kill them before they do. Nobody ought to know what's on the other side, and that's why nobody does…"
"Owen, what're you doing?" Curt whispered, but to no response and little avail. Owen was lost in whatever he was about to say.
"… But, I've heard talk of bargains being made here, so how about it?"
"Your desperation speaks for itself."
Owen had to pretend that that— the voice from the middle of nowhere or what it had said to him— didn't bother him in the slightest. He steeled himself, not sure where to direct his attention but knowing he'd probably have it right no matter what he chose. "What do you say, am I allowed to make a deal?"
The air shifted. Owen didn't receive a direct answer, but he knew that he'd been allowed to continue. "If I don't continue— if I go back, and tell my people that it's an impossibility, that it can't be done— would you let him go?" Another quick glance at Curt, as if the green something needed clarification, or as if he knew what he was signing himself up for.
Curt was frozen in place, his eyes wide. He'd heard every word as it echoed in the void, and he hated what it was implying. His gaze was fixed on Owen, fear blazing through his face. "No, Owen—" his voice came out weak. As far as literal interpretations go, that was not a good one. He didn't understand what was happening, but it terrified him to know that Owen was being so calm about this, while he could be selling his life away with nothing more than a few choice words.
Owen frowned, and muttered an apology he was sure only Curt would catch. The green grew angrier, setting a violent fire behind his eyes and forcing him onto his knees as the pain flooded his body.
"You better not be fucking with me."
"No! I— I wouldn't! I'm serious! I'll call it off, I swear on my life, just… He has nothing to do with any of this. It's not his fault."
The thing considered, holding Owen firmly in place while he deliberated. Curt couldn't move— he didn't dare, lest something happen to Owen that put him in more danger than he was already in. All he could do was force himself into keeping his breath steady, and not thinking about what a single wrong move could do to either of them. His eyes landed on the friction burn winding neatly around Owen's wrist, and he decided to focus on that for a while; the only other colour in a void of blackness and green.
"Very well."
That was the last thing Owen heard. Some part of his mind just shut down, and he collapsed to the floor of the stage. He didn't hear the way Curt screamed his name, or the return of the chorus of laughter. His eyes closed, and the next thing he knew, he was waking up with a start, underneath the sheets of his own bed, gasping for breath. He sturdied himself out, and once he was sure that he was real, and definitely in a familiar space, he looked over to Curt, and found him still asleep.
"Curt?" His voice was soft, but his mind was a knife point of tension. If that had gone wrong, then why was he the one to live through it ant not Curt? He tried again, biting his lip. "Curt..?"
Curt groaned. His eyes opened slowly. The relief that Owen felt hit him like a tidal wave.
For some reason, Curt was entirely surprised to see that Owen had made it through to the other side. He managed a weary smile, and tried to get his vision into focus. That was one of those decisions that he immediately came to regret. As soon as he brought himself a little more into the real worls, he noticed that the brown in Owen's eyes was stained with something else, and it made him feel sick to his stomach. Dripping down his irises was a flash of toxic, unsettlingly bright green.

For today's DMSP AU, Imma talk about my Fullmetal Alchemist DSMP AU, one of my many AU mash-ups! Here we go!
Obviously, this is heavily based on Fullmetal Alchemist(The original manga plot and the FMA: Brotherhood series btw) so here are some of the roles the characters have:
Tommy - Edward Elric: They both have similar personalities but one is tall while the other is made fun of for being short which is hilarious in my opinion :) Also, Tommy joined the military when he was 12-14 and he's currently 16.
Ranboo - Alphonse Elric: I had to think about this one a lot since Tommy and Ranboo wouldn't be blood brothers like in the original and Ranboo would not be a suit of armor. Ranboo is the adopted brother of Tommy and they're still really close. Ranboo's soul was transferred into a sort of large organic doll/chimera that was the experiment of Phil(who takes the place of Von Hohenheim, I'll get to him in a bit). It's basically a lot like C! Ranboo's body but it's incredible durable/has tough skin(as in bulletproof), can't digest food(the body will reject and Ranboo would end up having to spit it out), can't sleep, and can't feel anything(he can hear, see, and smell, but not taste, feel pain/feel anything physical). His original body is basically Ranboo in real life but younger. The body Ranboo's soul is in has a lot of complexities to it that will be explained for another time.
Tubbo - Winry: He's an automail mechanic, it suits him. He also won't hesitate to clonk Tommy's head with a wrench if Tommy gets careless with his automail. He's surprisingly strong(as in probably being able to pick Tommy up and throw him) and hates feeling powerless despite always being left powerless.
Phil - Von Hohenheim: Still immortal and still left his family. Tommy doesn't like Phil because he left them but Ranboo feels more neutral about Phil. Basically like in the original FMA. Phil's wife is, of course, Kristin(RIP). He also doesn't have wings. Idk what else to say for Phil, he's really similar to C! Phil and Von Hohenheim.
Wilbur(not related to cc! Wilbur) - Roy Mustang: It just fits so well in my brain. His title is the Dynamite Alchemist and yes, he is sane. He's a lot like L'manberg era Wilbur but much less naive since he's seen what war is. ALSO, his uniform is extremely similar to the L'manberg military uniform in C! DSMP(but without the hat), I just really like that idea :)))) He and Tommy have a similar relationship as Ed and Roy in FMA but if you added more friendship and fondness because I love Crimeboys in AUs and DSMP :]
Techno - Scar: I debated VERY HARD on this one between Techno taking the role of Scar or General Armstrong/Olivier Armstrong because both fit so well for me. In the end, I decided on Scar but with a different backstory. Techno is a piglin hybrid because I added hybrid races to this world. So far, there are Enderians(I'll talk about them more in another post) and Piglins but there might be more. Techno is an anarchist still and he's very strong and good in combat. I still haven't figured out how he'll gain the destructive alchemy ability but I know that at some point, he'll be able to do more reconstruction, even being able to change the physical appearance of a person(that'll be elaborated on later). Techno did not kill Tubbo's parents btw, so Tommy doesn't have as much anger towards him besides the fact he keeps trying to kill state alchemists and succeeding most of the time. When Tommy and Techno had to work together, they had some surprisingly nice joking moments but it still took a while for Tommy to be comfortable around him since, y'know, Techno tried killing him on several occasions. I think he'll still have the voices which will be a major part of his backstory that I'm still piecing together.
Okay, it's late and I'm tired so that's all you're getting right now.

When you’d failed to meet the expectations of your name and station your elder’s favorite punishment had been to send you to the Imperial Tombs to kneel.
For hours or even days–you never knew how long–the statues of the Amitahba Buddha and his companion bodhisattvas were your only company beside the dead as those surveilling you determined whether or not you’d shown the appropriate level of filial piety.
Those long gone points of meditation were more welcome than the terrifying visage of a xiezhi rising up behind your judges now, cloud-like flame swirling from its lion-like snout and single horn.
If myth were to be believed, at any indication of guilt the chimera would simply impale or devour a criminal. You can register a similar threat in the machinery beneath the holographic projection, the cold light of sensors and turrets in its frame. Tapestry-like screens hang on either side, reflecting you and the equally frightening sight of your vital readouts.
Now you kneel in the center of the arena, a slowly rotating sam-taegeuk beneath you casting the scene in ominous primary colors. Before you the table is set up for the legal arm of the tribunal, the three judges flanked by a small army of advisors and projected screens.
Your neck is bent, not just from the heavy jewelry adorning your head but the weight of thousands of Syndicate eyes resting on you, countless more if your suspicions that this was being streamed were correct. Outside the Dome, you aren’t spared visibility.
Thankfully, neither are they.
“Lee ____, third of her name. Lotus Princess, Daughter of Heaven and the East Sea. Only child of Lee Eunji, second of the Samshin, beloved in memory. The one born by the will of All Saints and the stars aligned to be Princess Consort of the last Imperial Dynasty of New Goryeo.”
“You come before us bearing a number of complaints brought against your kin, your mates, and the pack who took you into their protection.”
Protection. You flinch at the word. Your judge clears his throat, eyeing you over his glasses.
“We will hear your case before that of the accused, and decide on the terms for reconciliation,” the central figure finishes.
Elder Jeong Yunho is only a distant relation to the hound in Halatus, you know, your parent’s generation and the most notable prosecutor in Old Seoul. He's joined by one of the Park elders, a sly looking man you know as Leeteuk, along with that strange Vulpine spokesperson with a flashy suit–the Kim.
“Rise, Lee ____, and swear your vows.”
“Esteemed members of the Imperial houses and Syndicate, thank you for honoring my formal request for a tribunal.”  You curtsy deeply in the spite of the burn in your knees, tail sweeping the illuminated floor. “I welcome your objective review of my case.”
You can feel the approval of your uncle at having remembered your etiquette, though you can’t see him in the booth beyond the table with the blazing lights. You approach the table to lay your hand on the Imperial seal, the touch activating an internal glow.
“Under the eyes of heaven and by its laws, I swear to tell the truth,” you recite.
“Please proceed with your testimony,” Leeteuk allows, nodding at you. Your cardiac output scrolls on his screen, an appropriate orange for the fear driving your vision white. You swallow, hands folding before you as you look down again.
“As you know, I entered into a contract with Nyctos as their property, at the initiation of my first heat cycle.”
You glance to your right, finding Taeyong by his profile burnt black by the red pa on the floor, Doyoung illuminated more clearly by the glow of his A/R glasses.
“I thought he was my fated one,” you say, turning back. “We seemed to have made a bond-match immediately.”
“Seemed to?” The Kim finally speaks.
“Please refrain from speculative language,” Elder Jeong adds. “Did you or did you not bond-match with the Crown Prince? Answer truthfully.”
The pull of the order is more powerful than you expected; you nod in affirmation.
“Yes. We did. But I believed a trial period was necessary to determine if our pairing would be favorable,” you stammer.
“A trial which we understand has resulted in a successful mating, hence cementing your bond,” Elder Park replies. “Is that not correct?”
You shake your head, ears appropriately submissive. “We bond-matched. We . . . mated. But I requested contraceptive treatment prior to our formal marriage ceremony.”
“Contraceptive treatment when your contract is based upon providing heirs?” The fox Kim speaks again, asking questions on behalf of the audience it seems. “How curious.”
You don’t dare to look up past the curve of his lips and fangs, seeing the comments scroll down his screen, mirrored but legible.
“–Claimed by five Alphas. At least one of them should have stuck–”
“Can you illuminate the Syndicate as to why you did not proceed with a definite mating to assure your bond?” Park’s voice breaks the spell of reading through the written condemnations.
“I suspected I would be abandoned as unsuitable,” you say.
That surprises all of them, the three sitting forward. You can hear the murmur of the crowd, now, muffled by the containment field.
“On what grounds would you be found unsuitable?” Elder Jeong asks.
You turn slightly, the head of the haetae above you mirroring the gesture. Taeyong glares at you from the shadows, shaking his head slightly.
“When the Crown Prince refused to mate me and allowed his pack to claim me first,” you say.
“Objection.” Doyoung raises his hand as he steps forward into your purview. “Did you not agree, willingly, to a pack claim?”
“This is not your cross-examination, cousin.” Elder Kim warns, stylus tapping on the table. “But we will allow this clarification.”
You refuse to acknowledge Doyoung, turning away as you let real anger sweep through you.
He approaches the table, pausing to give you a wide berth before bowing stiffly. “My apologies for interrupting. But I feel I must specify there is no legal requirement in the Princess Consort’s contract for exclusivity nor is there a precedent for which order claims may be taken.”
“Did you agree to this pack claim?” Elder Kim’s voice is mildly aghast, if a little amused.
“Answer truthfully.” Jeong repeats.
You pause, mouth opening to close again as you simply nod. You feel an instant sense of relief once the command is fulfilled.
“Your written testimony implies but does not state directly that these claims were forced upon you.” Park says, highlighting the text displayed. “Is it not your duty within a pack contract to submit to the will of your superiors?”
You feel yourself bristle, eyes still lowered. “Is it not the responsibility of a pack leader to protect its weakest members from abuse?”
“The Princess Consort will refrain from directing questions at the tribunal,” Jeong rebuts you, sighing heavily. “Let the tribunal recognize that only a contract owner may submit a charge of abuse towards the persons covered by it.”
The meaning is clear–you are just property, after all.
“It seems this is merely a matter of internal insubordination, then,” Kim laughs. “How delightful.”
“Does the Crown Prince’s counsel wish to submit such a complaint?”
Doyoung stands more stiffly.
“Formally, no,” he explains. “We are here to address internal insubordination, as you said. The tribunal is necessary due to the Crown Prince’s status, not because we recognize the Princess Consort’s complaint.”
“Hypothetically speaking, if the Princess Consort’s claims were legally recognizable,” Elder Kim asks, “how would you respond to this accusation of so-called abuse?”
Your eyes swim with tears as you brace yourself for whatever silver-tongued answer Doyoung will give them, fists clenching.
“The Princess Consort refused to accept her mate's orders to stay confined and made certain solicitations,” he says, clearly uncomfortable with being forced to describe the details. “She tried to turn lesser ranks against the Crown Prince. Eventually she submitted when she found that pack loyalty would not grant her desire to overthrow natural authority.”
“What–?” you begin, forgetting yourself.
“Silence.”
You crouch, mouth clamped shut. So much for maintaining your composure, you think, face burning.
“I think it’s clear enough this contract is in dispute because this omega does not know their place.” Elder Kim says, arms crossing. “Dozens of generations of breeding have fallen thus far.”
“Is it the wish of the Crown Prince and Nyctos to forfeit their contract with the Kims on the basis of this insubordination?” Elder Park asks.
“While we have been disappointed in the Princess Consort’s behavior it hardly warrants contract termination,” Doyoung says. “We believe with adequate training these flaws in character and behavior can be addressed by reasserting pack authority.”
You shake your head, still silenced.
“Do you wish to say something, little Princess?”
You’re surprised enough to look up at the other Vulpine, finding his eyes narrowed in a smug but cold smile.
“The Princess Consort may respond this once,” Jeong says tiredly, waving his hand. “Make your final statement before we dismiss this matter.”
You drop to your knees, desperate.
“Please masters,” you plead, voice shaking. “I cannot bear to spend another moment in these brute's company. His pack abused me and forced claims upon me. I have suffered indignity at almost all of their hands, with few exceptions.”
You expect them to ignore your request but you are mortified when the Elder Jeong brushes off your earnest request with one word and a waved hand.
“Noted. Will Second Prince Lee Minhyung please approach the tribunal.”
You turn to look at Mark stride towards the table, hiding his bewilderment under a soldier’s reserve. It was only fair that he'd be confused.
“Second Prince. Your cousin has requested a transfer of the contract to you, as her closest male relative and preferred mate, with the expectation that you will emancipate her upon transfer,” Elder Jeong says. “Should the trials proceed favorably for you, do you accept this responsibility?”
“You’re the only one,” you explain, quietly, relieved when you aren’t stopped from addressing him. “You can end this.”
A thousand words are spoken in the look shared between you, but most of all you can see something like sympathy there–a welcome sight after this useless political theatre. You see realization dawn on him, eyes wide. He looks up at Doyoung, some subtlety in the exchange spurring him to the obvious answer.
“I accept,” Mark says, looking back down at you.
You close your eyes in relief, exhaling shakily. When you open your eyes again his hand is extended towards you, helping you rise once more from the painful position.
“And will the Crown Prince fight to retain your claim upon your mate?”
The question is directed at Taeyong, who’s already quietly joined Doyoung, tail swishing lazily.
“I have a major investment in her as property, including futures,” he says, turning to look at you with disgust darkening his usually soft features. “While she’s been more than unfavorable in her lack of compliance, no, I will not hand her over without an appropriate response.”
“Then since this is a matter of personal honor, the tribunal recognizes this dispute to fall under traditional methods of arbitration,” Elder Jeong says, slamming the seal down on the table three times.
“The heirs may choose their principals and seconds. As the challenged, the Crown Prince will state his preferences, first.”
Taeyong bows to the tribunal.
“I elect my enforcer, Suh Youngho, until the time in which I may settle my grievance against him for claiming my mate without my permission.”
You’re shocked by this addition and clearly so is Johnny–you don’t dare look up at him but you don’t miss the hesitation on his part to accept his position beside his leader and Doyoung.
“Kim Doyoung will act as second and negotiate the terms on our behalf.”
Elder Jeong nods. “Second Prince. The Princess Consort has elected you as her new owner should your claim be recognized. Who do you request represent you?”
Mark looks at you, eyes twitching with uncertainty as your gaze flicks towards the only reasonable candidate. You don't dare speak, knowing full well that it would undermine Taeyong's plan to present your cousin as a capable leader. Thankfully Jaehyun moves to Mark's side unprompted.
“I elect Jeong Yuno as principal,” he says, relaxing.
“I, Nakamoto Yuta will perform the role of second,” Yuta says, more formal in his speech than you've ever heard.
“That leaves three pack members unaccounted for, with Moon Taeil excused on the basis of his oath of service. Do the heirs wish to elect the two lower ranks to participate on their behalf?”
Mark shakes his head, but you interrupt him, placing a hand on his jacketed arm. “Please, allow me to address a personal grievance.”
Mark’s disappointment is palpable but he nods, following your lead.
“On behalf of the Second Prince,” you say, eyes moving past Jungwoo to your target hanging on the edge of the arena. “I elect Lee Donghyuck to fight on behalf of our honor.”
Haechan glowers at you, but says nothing, joining Mark. Jungwoo winks at you as he passes towards Taeyong's contingent, full lips curled in delight.
“Seconds approach the table for the negotiation and arrangement of terms. The Princess Consort will be retained outside the arena for her safety.”
You bow deeply to the table before turning to Mark’s pack members to present them with the same respect. Before you leave you approach your cousin, placing your hand on his chest, where the five-petaled Clan crest pinned to the navy fabric has already been altered to the same bright blue of the flag beneath your feet.
“Thank you,” you say, embracing him with the same conviction you had hours ago, under extremely different circumstances. At first he stiffens, surrendering when he realizes he’s still on stage.
“You'll do well, for me,” you tell him, hands reaching around him to hold his chest tightly. He relaxes after a few seconds.
“What's even happening right now?” he whispers into the hair between your ears. “Why did you make me–”
“Please, trust me,” you say into his jacket, adding an extra tightness to your hold. “This is for them more than us.”
You stand on your toes to press a kiss to his startled face through the drape of your veil, hands on his shoulders briefly. You don't mistake the way in which he leans forward when you break free, marching away without so much as a glance in the Red direction.
Outside the arena you are directed to the private box behind the judges table already occupied by your uncle and your guards, helped to your seat by the Elder Kim. The fox has shrugged off the formality of the tribunal to return to his natural role as Master of Ceremonies, and you allow him to take your hand even as your skin prickles at the light touch.
Your box is illuminated softly by neon lights, prisms and starbursts of light dancing around you where they catch in the crystals meticulously sewn into your gold dress and Key's suit. The table is strewn with various drinks and rich bite-sized foods, your stomach wrenching at the sight and smell.
“There. Now you look like a proper prize,” Key says, almost a little mocking for the calculated way he adjusts your veil once you’re both seated, his tail curling against your own as he sits beside you. “Excellent work proving yourself the opposite.”
“Are you suggesting I don’t wish to be prized?” you ask, demurely hiding your lips in case anyone can read them through the covering. “Perhaps you can advise on how to be more submissive?”
“Me?” he says, pretending to be wounded. “Though you might make an effort to show some concern for your favorites. The drama here will have no small part in determining the outcome. Perhaps you already know who will win?”
You toss your head. “Not a single one of them has proven worthy to earn my favor.”
“Careful pet,” Tenth Prince interrupts, moving closer on the long booth’s plush seating. “Your negligence towards your mates is not, under any circumstances, a point of pride.”
“Yes, uncle,” you say with a bow of your head.
You sit back as you listen to the conversations around you. Some of the voices are distinctly familiar, court attendees and Syndicate relations alike, all discussing odds of the mis-matched group inside the arena. Screens on the tables display the individual roster as well as points averages.
They may as well be written in a foreign language for all you understand.
“Can you make any sense of the betting?” you lean over to ask Yangyang, watching his ears turn naturally towards yours near the box entrance. He’s more than excited to crouch down next to you to explain, Renjun joining him with an attitude of annoyance.
“See here? Anything involving Suh is getting swept into a parlay. They assume he'll win every match.”
Renjun huffs across from him. “If he has to fight the Crown Prince, there’s no way.”
“You seem so sure,” you say.
“Clearly you've never seen your cousin in battle,” Tenth Prince says. “My dear, have you no sense of decorum? Omegas should be seen, not heard.”
“Apologies,” you say with a dip of your head. “I'm merely nervous.”
You receive another look of warning before he returns to speaking to the blond man that's slipped into the booth beside him–one of a handful of guards dressed impeccably with the Lee Imperial plum blossom on their lapel.
There's no indication that your uncle is agitated but you can sense something is off, fighting to keep your ears from swiveling back and forth as you listen for snippets of that particular conversation, pretending to watch the judges retreat from the floor to their own seats past the barrier.
“That's my cue,” Key says, flicking your ear with his claw upon standing. “Enjoy the bloodshed, my dear.”
There's a muffled wave of applause as the lights adjust once more, the Master spot-lit as he descends to receive the tablet of rankings and details.
“Fascinating,” you hear him say before he looks up to address the crowd, voice amplified for the entire room.
“Welcome honored members of the Imperial Houses and esteemed guests and patrons of our Syndicate. Tonight we present a once in a lifetime event, a demonstration of Alpha justice not seen since the Exodus trials of ‘02. Tonight a pack divides over a mutual claim, their prize the contract ownership of Heavenly Lotus Princess Lee ____, Daughter of the Eastern Sea."
He gestures to the far side of the arena, one of the lower boxes crowded with familiar Syndicate heads.
“On the one side, our accused and challenged–Crown Prince Lee Taeyong, son of the last would-be Imperator, first of his name. He petitioned the Kim clan for ownership of his cousin in the name of preserving their clan line, and yet within a few weeks has been sued for breach of contract by the Princess herself in a submission of formal complaint to the Syndicate’s board, witnessed by our ranks.”
“How do you plead, your highness?”
“By Heaven's design, my honor will be preserved,” Taeyong announces, tail curling as he salutes and then bows, in your direction. “I will win my claim.”
You're surprised to hear applause, a few cheers erupting from the wings across the room.
“Our most popular choice of course, as pack leader and the Lee clan’s worthy Elder. But we have a challenger and champion of our Princess's virtue to fight in her stead tonight, son of our beloved Reverend Mother and the People's Princess, Third of the Samshin, Lee Eunchae and her consort the Fourth Tiger Prince–name not to be spoken.”
“Second Prince Lee Minhyung–your mothers shared a womb–is that what motivates you to defend your closest relation, or do you seek to take what is rightfully your Elder's and claim your Alpha's mate for yourself?”
The provocation is felt within the room, murmurs accompanying a close-in on Mark's face on the screens.
“I'm here to defend the Princess. That's it,” he says, not bothering to bow. “She asked to be freed and I'll do my best to honor her request.”
There's less of a positive response to this announcement, disapproval like a dark cloud settling over the arena. Beside you Renjun makes a sound of affirmation, hiding his grin immediately beneath grim seriousness.
“Befitting the son of a so-called liberator and champion of omega rights. Well then, shall we proceed to the order of duels?”
The Master of Ceremonies continues to break down the code duello, all of which were bitterly familiar to you from the Academy. In the absence of anything resembling a body of justice to address the constant infighting amongst the Alpha progeny of the clancorps the honorable method for resolving conflicts was through combat.
“Any insult to an omega under an Alpha’s care or protection to be considered as, by one degree, a greater offense than if given to the Alpha personally, and to be regulated accordingly.”
“Offenses originating or accruing from the support of omegas' reputations, to be considered as less unjustifiable than any others of the same class, and as admitting of slighter apologies by the aggressor: this to be determined by the circumstances of the case, but always favorable to the omega.”
You watch the screen manifest the series of trials, heart sinking at the sight of the names and portraits listed against one another in opposing blue and red, the choice of weaponry and terms bookended by positive and negative numbers you can only imagine are related to the odds.
Seo Youngho, with a negative score of at least a 100 beyond the other ranks, is pitted against the pack in multiple confrontations. But the one that twists your stomach the most to see is his latestage match against Mark's principal.
Jeong Yuno barely affords a ranking.
“Parlays will close within the next five minutes but action bets will be accepted throughout the event. Please continue to submit those wagers and participate in the voting for our environmental controls and hazards as so generously provided by our board and sponsors. May the punishment match the crime!”
“Environmental hazards?” You hear Yangyang ask, drawing your attention.
“Don’t they have those at the Zoo?” Renjun sighs, giving you a sidelong glance. “He and Zhong live in District Four when they’re off-duty.”
The home of unofficial, underground Alpha matches for Beta entertainment, you know from media rather than experience.
“It's all fake. For show,” Yangyang assures you. “Not like here. Real death matches are outlawed.”
“It’s not always death matches, here,” Renjun adds. “Just . . . most of the time.”
“If the Syndicate sentences you to death, this is the most honorable way to die,” you say quietly.
A fate you wouldn't wish on anyone.
“Is that why you claimed a fatal offense?” Tenth Prince's voice is bitter, but you can hear his veiled smile beneath his fan. “An honorable death?”
“I did,” you nod, feeling Renjun and Yangyang’s actual shock at the news. “Against my first claim and true bonded. The man who scarred me and took my innocence.”
“Who?” Renjun asks, quietly.
You don't answer.
“Child, you certainly never took any of my advice not to play with fire lest you be burned.” Your uncle sighs. “What a waste of a perfectly fine specimen.”
You're not sure which of the two Alphas slated for a death match he means, but you suspect the words are more for the Felid blinking against the lights to try and find your face in the crowd, his own expression unreadable.
Your heart clenches in your chest as you turn away, unable to meet Johnny's eyes even at this distance.
“Prepare yourself to give him a proper send-off when the time comes. We wouldn't want anyone to doubt your conviction in accusing bonded mates of such grave offenses.” Tenth says, placing a clawed hand over your own.
You hear the warning spoken plainly: you had to present as innocent or earn the enmity of the other Syndicate Alphas. Omegas executing their claims was unheard of, a precedent much more dangerous than one of your kind seeking emancipation.
No, their sympathies would never lie with you. But tonight had never really been about what you wanted.
“I do suppose eliminating Suh will resolve the rumors of whether or not Nyctos is led by a foreign-born mongrel rather than your own blood.” Tenth's head of security hasn't spoken until now, voice calm and quiet, but he sounds as bored as your uncle at the spectacle. You fight to keep from reacting, narrowing your eyes at his handsome face.
He smiles at you widely, almost shyly.
“That will be quite enough, Sicheng.” The Prince admonishes him. “Do not imply that our clan can not maintain dominance over its own servants.”
Renjun bristles visibly, eyes darting between the three of you, as if seeing you in a new light.
You can sense the new discomfort of your guards, themselves under the command of said mongrel, now fully aware he's been gravely accused. But this isn't the time or place to explain, not with the beginning of the trials.
“We will now commence the first duel,” Master Key announces, spot-lit from below, along with two others.  “May the strongest beast survive.”
Tumblr media
“I'm trusting that you three actually have a plan besides my execution,” Johnny says with typical gallows humor, hanging over the wall separating the weapons racks and waiting area to try and make out the stats on-screen.
It’s hard to read if only because there’s a montage just as eye-catchingly bombastic as the Lottery ads played street side, for the first time in history introducing their pack. Whatever media production crew they had operating this event was well-read on Nyctos history, accomplishments and training, as well as family backgrounds by several generations.
Of course they’d still gotten his background wrong–just like Yuta’s–his origin somehow now the Western Free States instead of a Midwest Combined Operational Group enclave south of the Occupied Great Lakes. He’s not surprised considering NUSA didn’t register as much more than a lawless wasteland after the Fifth Corporate war.
“We’re playing it by ear just as much as you suspect,” Doyoung says. “I tried to match rank and ability as closely as possible.”
“By fighting Yuta?” Jungwoo asks, smirking as he leans against the wall. “Good luck.”
“I'll ignore the implication that I might lose,” Doyoung snaps back.
“You must think I would have if you put me against Haechan.” Jungwoo huffs.
“Yes,” Johnny says, turning to meet him levelly, as equally matched as they are in height. “You are going to minimize harm in your fight and accept your punishment. The next time you hesitate to deal directly with a threat against a lower rank you won't be facing them. You'll be fighting me.”
Jungwoo swallows, mouth twisted in a wry smile as he turns away to join Taeyong on the side of the field, where a small crowd of Syndicate-approved media spokespeople are interviewing the pack leader.
“Was this her idea?” he asks, looking up again through the haze of the containment field at that bright spot, your profile visible behind delicately embroidered organza as you nod at something Tenth Prince says.
Doyoung squints, looking around with the implication that nothing is private here. Even so Johnny senses a shift in his aura, less anxious and more approving, as if the Lepid is experiencing a sudden surge of pride.
“Her testimony is entirely her own. She understood what the stakes were more clearly than even I had anticipated.”
“What is her goal, exactly?”
“She truly just wants her freedom,” Doyoung answers with a soft exhale. “By any means necessary.”
Any means. It nags at him deeply, after everything, that your aim would be so simple: mated and bonded Alphas forced to eliminate one another over an accusation of pack disunity. There was a certain poetry in it, in the sense that you'd accounted for every wrong, not-withstanding your own.
I want us to live.
He has a choice. Believe what you'd said in private, in the dark, in the moments when the stakes were truly never higher. Or believe you now, with your doublespeak and carefully-constructed artifice.
No, he thinks. He's lived with Taeyong too long to ever believe royal lies. This had to be the natural conclusion of whatever Imperial scheme had started before you even fell back into their hands. A long, circumnavigating path back to zero.
He watches Yuta lean into Haechan's ear, instructions given to him. Here in the open stage he looks younger than ever, shoulders hunched with hidden tension, sharp eyes scanning the crowds past the lights.
“The first of many of tonight's little squabbles, between our lowest-ranked. According to the Princess Consort there is a private grievance to be settled here, would our combatants wish to make a statement?”
Key's nod is to Jungwoo, deferring to him as first-ranked and the challenged faction. The young Alpha stands tall, clearly in his element, his preferred weapon of a nightstick now tapping against his shoulder in a familiar beat.
“I submit my performance as testament to the honor of my clan and pack, and hope our Princess Consort accepts my apology in advance for my victory,” the younger Kim states. “Would my lady bestow me with a token of her affection? For luck?”
The theatrics are generously received, an attempt made to focus on you in the stands finds you shaking your head, ears back.
“Clearly you have yet to earn your Princess's regard. Oh well, not unexpected for a mutt,” Key laments, earning the laughter of the crowd. “Does her Highness bestow a favor upon her preferred champion?”
Johnny can't help but tense, seeing you turn your focus on the other Alpha. Haechan's posture is abnormally stiff as you produce something from your sleeve. You flash the illustration on the fan's paper before snapping it closed in an elegant fashion, tossing it through the containment field.
It passes through without any register of the security, landing on the stage. Key retrieves the small offering when Haechan makes no effort to take it, flourishing it with a gesture upon standing up, long white-and-silver tail balancing the line of his body.
“Such a sweet token–do I detect a lover's quarrel between you by the sincerity of this gesture met so cruelly?” He gently waves the fan towards his target, letting the Valentine's day colors of the dianthus illustration be seen by all.
Rather than answer Haechan snatches it closed, awkwardly tucking it into his pocket.
“Let's get this over with,” he says, brandishing the yellow-marked electric baton he's chosen.
“Not too hasty, not too hasty,” Key says but the traditional drum beats cascade over the room, lights dimming as the softly illuminated forms of the two men move quietly and slowly around each other, sparks snapping from the active rods of their nightsticks.
It's clear within moments who will have the advantage as the two Alphas circle one another on the glowing field, the floor shifting as applause and cheers take over, almost masking the sound of rushing water that erupts from a moat falling around the central ring.
“We've of course added our own hazards here, but let's explain the rules. No fatalities are allowed with the exception of incidental and accidental. Stun levels have been set to disable only. Leaving the fight area past the moat will be considered an automatic forfeit. May the Heavens provide justice, and may the punishment match the crime.”
A tense quiet settles over the combat zone. It's more than a little surreal for him to witness the two like this–after countless trainings and similar play fights. The two Canids may be unequal in size but Haechan is faster, more aggressive when cornered.
Jungwoo makes no attempt to break his defense, lazily feinting when the other comes too close. Even dimly lit he can see the smile breaking on the Canid’s face, a fear response. The scent suppression here can’t hide the flare of Alpha pheromones, just as sharp as the burnt air smell of electricity.
“Get him in the water,” Doyoung mutters beside him.
Johnny growls instinctively, startling his partner.
“I mean disable the weapon,” he adds.
“I got that.” Johnny moves closer, sniffing at the moat's pure water. No surprise chemicals in that mix, at least.
“They’ll want blood,” he says.
Jungwoo lashes out, finally, quick arcs that miss Haechan's duck and weave away. Jungwoo has to step back quickly when Haechan counterattacks, almost tipping a foot past the breach and stumbling forward away from the edge.
Haechan pounces on the opening, thrusting out with the yellow nightstick.
The crackle of electricity is echoed in a collective gasp as Jungwoo takes a knee, immediately set on from behind with the thin metal rod against his long neck, Haechan dodging careless swipes backwards to pull tighter against his throat.
“Yield,” Haechan growls. Johnny realizes how close to jimseung the youngest already is. That sentiment is matched by the swipe of Jungwoo’s claws across the back of Haechan’s wrist, forearm torn to the sinew as Jungwoo takes advantage of the opening to smash his head backwards into the younger’s face.
Haechan yelps, dropping his weapon as blood gushes from his broken nose. His bloodied fingers slip on the handle of his stun baton as Jungwoo kicks it away lightly, the spin of the handle catching on the moat’s edge a few yards away.
“Oh, did you need that?” Jungwoo taunts, shaking himself loose on the rise up. “Don’t you have fur under that skin? C’mon, show me your teeth.”
“Bastard,” Haechan spits out a gob of congealing blood from beneath the steady flow, favoring his right arm.
“All's fair in love and war,” Jungwoo taunts. He switches his baton between hands as he circles the younger, taking his time. Haechan sweeps a kick to upend him but it’s easily avoided. He tries to seize the grounded end of Jungwoo’s baton next, earning a low-level stun that has the jackal seizing and twitching on the floor.
“Would you really do anything to protect her? Or are you losing so you can keep her all to yourself?” Jungwoo asks, watching patiently for his victim to recover.
“Shut up!” Haechan roars, rising up from the floor to roll the taller man down, defending against a stun with his claws embedded in Jungwoo’s shoulders and neck. The fight on the floor lasts only as long as it takes for Jungwoo to smash his forehead against the other’s face, again, Haechan letting out a gurgling snarl as he lets go–twisting away before the baton can smash down on his shoulder.
Sparks skitter across the floor, arcing across the flickering portion of the broken screen.
Jungwoo laughs even as blood oozes between fingers clamped to his neck, snapping the telescopic end of the baton open again with a spray of red. There’s a sinister quality to the way he’s taunting the younger, more like a cat with its prey.
Na’s influence, Johnny thinks, holding back the order he wants to shout at his subordinate. Even if he had a right to under the circumstances, Jungwoo was taking the act too far.
“Always pretending to be a little puppy nipping at our heels. Did it feel good to get to rut her first?” Jungwoo's sing-song voice is the only sound in the room besides Haechan's wet coughs and frustrated grunts as he tries to pick himself up.
Jungwoo's claws embed in the younger man's scruff, pulling him up, fielding off the weak blows from his left hand and the attempts to kick his legs out from under him. It's clear from the boy's pallor he's lost more blood than expected.
“Fight back,” Doyoung whispers. Johnny breathes, finally, realizing the air has left his lungs minutes ago.
“Fight back, kid,” he murmurs.
“Did you tell her you loved her? Or did you take what you could get and run away with your tail tucked between your legs?”
“I’ll kill you,” Haechan whines pitifully, pummeling Jungwoo’s wiry arm as he’s dragged towards the edge.
“Do you think you have it in you?”
Jungwoo doesn’t go for the final blow immediately, waiting until Haechan has been released and made it to his knee to push forward with a direct attack to the chest, just a tap but reinforced by the full unload of the stun.
Haechan tips back, paralyzed, crashing into the waters as the crowd erupts violently with a mix of cheers and boos.
“Did you plan that?” Johnny asks, icy rage in his tone.
Doyoung shakes his head, swiping a hand over his face. “No.”
Tumblr media
You haven’t even realized you were standing, horror and pain blotting out any thought in your head–to the point you don’t even realize you’re being addressed.
“What's the verdict?” Jungwoo looks up at you, drenched in gore, his clawed thumb held horizontally from his closed fist. The crowd erupts, chants alternating between the desire to drown or electrocute the loser while messages and emotes flash across the privacy screens of the upper booths.
You watch the Canid move at his leisure around the field, even taking the time to dip his bloodied arm in the water to cleanse it.
“Such a young life, and a fellow Lee,” Key says with faux concern. “Would you really see this child consigned to death?”
There's a weighted pause as you regard the scene, as you lift your head and wipe your tears away. You lift your own hand in answer, thumb held upright in a mirrored gesture to the one before, shaking in the spotlight.
“I would have mer–” your words are cut clean by a horrible sound, Haechan's yell more howl as he finally pitches forward from the water, a yellow rod between his teeth. Jungwoo can only brace himself so much with the impact to his gut, pitched into the void beside him.
He has a moment to surface, scrabbling for the edge–
“NO!” you shout.
“No mercy,” Haechan repeats the crowd's line, activating the device and pitching it into the water below his feet.
Screams erupt in the sudden darkness and the spider-webbed fingers of lightning reaching halfway around the dark pool, the central light extinguished with a horrible snap and a flicker.
By the ringing in your ears you’re sure the scream was from you, hands grasping at you as you take advantage of the darkness and chaos to run.
Anguished murmurs follow, medics rushing in to the arena as the overhead lights illuminate the stage, water bleeding away from the rising floor.
What little of the screen still working is darkened by the arterial blood pooling around the figure who’s collapsed in the middle of it. Haechan holds his dripping head in his hands, healing slowly.
You make it to the edge of the arena, held back by Imperial guards as you reach for the body being pulled from the receding water by uniformed medics, shirt torn open to place electrodes on his unmoving chest.
“No,” you weep. “Please. Why?”
The defibrillation is heard throughout the room, beeps and shocks repeating until Jungwoo arcs upwards with the kick, twitching back to life with a matching signal from the monitors strapped to him.
You're finally able to wrest out of your captor's hold, falling ungracefully at the Alpha's side as his mouth is cleared of blood-tinged phlegm, unconsciously reaching to clear the damp hair from his forehead.
“Why?!” you repeat, louder.
It was supposed to be me, you think.
“You did this,” Haechan says, bitterly. The damage to his face is severe, both eyes blackened, claw marks leaking rivulets of red.
“You didn't have to–you didn't have to kill him!” Your sobs are amplified over the same frequency, keening along with the breaths rasping out of Jungwoo as he slips back into unconsciousness.
“YOU MADE ME!” Haechan shouts at you, making the whole room go still.
The Canid weakly pulls your token from its place in his saturated clothing, tossing it back on the ground to smear in the blood-dyed water. His eyes find you, finally, hollowed of everything human.
“I challenge you, next,” he says.

How different does the episode ‘Secrets’ play out in the Shape Shifting Ben au?
In Secrets, Max has spent the entire time making sure that Vilgax doesn't find them. Max also prayed that his grandson's Chimera Sui Generi father wasn't his enemy from his past. But deep down, Max knows the painful truth.
Even though the Omnitrix is now useless, Vilgax can still track the powers. Basically, every time Ben shape-shift, it brings Vilgax closer to him. Not wanting his grandchildren near Vilgax, Max tries to take Ben and Gwen to Mount Rushmore since he believes it's the safest place to protect them from Vilgax.
When Ben sees the city being attacked, Ben instantly shape-shifts into his Kineceleran form despite his grandfather's protests. When Ben and Vilgax finally meet, Vilgax is at first angry since he believes that a child possesses the power of the Omnitrix. But he realizes that the symbol of the Omnitrix isn't shown on Ben's person. Thinking that Ben is some kind of shape-shifting alien.
Ben landed hits on Vilgax multiple times, but Vilgax finds it kind of adorable since a mere child is trying to protect his home planet. Not wanting to waste his strength on a child, Vilgax lets Ben hit him because he knows the kid will eventually wear himself out.
Despite of all Ben's best efforts, it's not enough to defeat Vilgax. When Ben transforms into his Chimera Sui Generi form, Vilgax becomes shock to see the boy resembling him when he was a child. Max shows up in a nick of time while fearing that Vilgax could hurt Ben.
Max reveals that he still has the Omnitrix in his possession, throwing it at Vilgax before taking Ben and driving away with his grandchildren. Vilgax is surprised that Max was willing to give him the Omnitrix without any hesitation. Not that Vilgax isn't complaining.
Ben and Gwen ask their grandfather where they're going, which Max simply responses Mount Rushmore. While Gwen what was that thing Max threw at Vilgax, Ben knew immediately that it was the Omnitrix. Causing Ben to wonder if that man is one of his many fathers.
Back in his ship, Vilgax is thrilled to finally have the Omnitrix in his possession at least. All thanks to his old nemesis, who gave him all this power. Unfortunately for Vilgax, he quickly realized that Omnitrix no longer works. Furiously, Vilgax hunts down for Max to demand answers.
At Mount Rushmore in a safe room, Ben and Gwen hate how their grandfather isn't telling them anything about who's that squid alien. Even though the cousins know Max was a space police in his youth, the kids feel like he still hiding something from them. Max tells them that his job wasn't always like a cool adventure. He made many enemies he simply couldn't arrest since they were either rulers or had special connections.
Before either of the cousins could say anything to Max, Vilgax arrived outside of the hideout. Demanding Max to tell him where the power of the Omnitrix went. Max tells the kids to stay in the room and hide, and if things get hairy, take the Rust Bucket, put it on auto drive, and send out a signal to his superior, Magister Prior Gilhil. Saying Gilhil will look after them until he takes them to their parents.
Realizing that their grandfather might not make it out alive, Ben and Gwen try to protest but Max closes the door to finish his long-time fight with Vilgax. Ben and Gwen are still kids, they shouldn't inherit his burdens. In his mind, Max tells Ben and Gwen to be better than him.
Vilgax waits until Max comes out on top of Mount Rushmore. Vilgax offers Max one last chance to tell him where the Omnitrix's power went, and he'll spare Max and his grandchildren. But Max refuses, as he knows that if Vilgax ever learns where the Omnitrix's power went, Ben will become Vilgax's next target.
Turning on the security, Max fires with everything he has. Even if he might be killed, Max can at least hope that his grandkids will make it out alive. Besides, if Ben ever gets the chance to bond with one of his other fathers, Gilhil can have that honor since the man has a soft spot for young children that many Plumbers don't know about.
Back with the kids, Ben is torn between wanting to help his grandpa, or listening to Max and waiting until Max comes back or running if the situation turns worse. Poor kid doesn't want to leave his grandpa, but Vilgax is just too strong. Gwen feels helpless. Her grandpa is risking his life and her cousin might even end up as a target for Vilgax. She's scared and she doesn't know what to do. She's supposed to be smart, but she feels incapable of doing anything.
Angry, Gwen kicks the wall. She wishes that she had her own powers to protect her family. Maybe if she trains, she'd might be able to protect her family more. Seeing his cousin getting sad and angry, Ben knows the only way for their grandfather and Earth to be safe is handing himself over to Vilgax.
Turning into his Ectonurite form, Ben says goodbye to Gwen, who's at first confused before realizing what Ben's about to do. She tries to stop Ben, but he went through the door. Ben is at least that he managed to become friends with his cousin, even if it was a short time.
Once outside, Ben sees Max on the ground and is about to blasted by Vilgax. Ben quickly gets in between his father and grandfather. Saying that he has the power of the Omnitrix in him. Vilgaxis at first doesn't believe Ben's statement, but he realizes that Ben might be telling the truth once Ben begins to shape-shift into multiple aliens, many which whom Vilgax recognizes as child versions of the aliens he knows.
Ben tells Vilgax that he'll come with him if his family and planet are spared. Despite being a warlord, Vilgax does have some warrior honor in him and agrees. Max begs Ben not to do it, but Ben only tells his grandfather goodbye and he loves him as Vilgax takes him to his ship.
Gwen comes out to see her cousin being taken away and rushes to her grandfather. She apologizes for not stopping Ben, but Max tells her that it's not her fault. If anything, everything that's been happening is his fault in the first place. However, they're not giving Ben up without a fight, which Gwen nodded.
Inside the spaceship, Vilgax runs testing on Ben. Surprised to see that Ben has all the DNA of the Omnitrix in him. Intimidatingly, Vilgax demands Ben to tell him how did he got all that power in him.
Ben tells Vilgax that he was born with them. Revealing to Vilgax that the Omnitrix was damaged when it came to Earth. When Ben's mother touched it, all the DNA went to her womb, creating him in the process. Shape-shifting into his Chimera Sui Generi form again in front of Vilgax.
Hearing that, Vilgax remembers the day that he met Myaxx when she disguised herself as a servant in his castle just to get his DNA. By the time he figured out who she was, Myaxx had already left Vilgaxia. After branding Myaxx a traitor to Vilgaxia, Vilgax eventually learned about the Omnitrix and immediately wanted such power for himself to conquer the entire universe.
But never in his wildest dreams, Vilgax would thought that the Omnitrix would create a child who could shape-shift into any alien he wants, especially one who has his DNA. Vilgax realize that Ben also has his DNA, and this makes Ben his son.
Vilgax tells Ben that his own DNA was in the Omnitrix, revealing that they're father and son. Hearing this, Ben is horrified since that means he has another father who's a horrible person. Vilgax is beyond thrilled since this means he had an heir to his empire this all time and he didn't even know.
Just before either Ben or Vilgax could say anything to each other, Max shows up in the same way he did in canon, with the same line of “Claws of my grandson, Vilgax!”, only this time Vilgax response with “Your grandson... or my son?”. But the only difference is that Max is wearing a mega suit due to his old age.
Ben calls out to Max and begs the man to leave before Vilgax can hurt him. But Max tells him not to worry before firing his weapon at Vilgax. Max immediately takes Ben to the Rust Bucket and tells him to take Gwen and leave. Max and Vilgax soon fight as neither man wants the other to take Ben from him.
Gwen comes out of the vehicle and hugs her cousin before chewing him out for leaving her like that since they're supposed to be a team. A few of Vilgax's robots arrive to try to help Vilgax, but Ben shape-shifts into his Galvanic Mechamorph form to take over one of them while Gwen is hiding and begins to regret destroying those charms.
Back with Max and Vilgax, Max is soon underneath Vilgax's foot while the latter says that the former won't get in his way anymore and Ben will become his. However, before Vilgax can crush his long-hated enemy, Ben immediately jumps at Vilgax, causing father and son to fall off the ship.
Ben tries to get away from his Chimera Sui Generi father, but Vilgax is quick. He tells Ben no matter where he runs, Vilgax will always find him and bring him home. Vilgax asks Ben if he truly believes that he can live on Earth. Because once it's revealed that a child who has the power of shape-shifting lives on a backwater planet like Earth, its people will shun and hate him. Vilgax tells his son to let go of his affection for his human and come with him since the people of Vilgaxia will welcome him as their crown prince.
The entire scene of the Vilgax's ship crashing down is basically the same. Max driving the Rust Bucket off the ship and Vilgax using them to get to Ben. Ben agrees to leave the planet with his father in exchange he won't hurt anyone he loves again. Just like the canon, Max tells Vilgax not to go back on the ship, which Vilgax ignores until he realizes that the ship is on self-destruction.
And like in canon, Vilgax curses Max and Ben blasts him with Max's weapon. Ben quickly jumps off before Vilgax can stop him. The ship explodes as Ben transforms into his Pyronite form. Max and Gwen hug him after a long day. Ben watches as the ship that was carrying his father is destroyed. Deep down, Ben wishes that Vilgax was a good guy, unaware that this isn't the last time he'll see Vilgax.

Chimera Pack AU Headcanons (pt 1?)
- tracy and hayden are dating.
- josh is nonbinary.
-the pack didn’t know liam was trans at first.
- mason spends a lot of time at the pack house and is pretty much an honorary pack member at this point.
- tracy and theo both have insomnia so they’ll shift then go on night runs in the preserve.
-liam hates being yelled at.
-corey can sketch really well and sometimes draws mason during class.
- theo cleared out a drawer for liam’s things in his room.
- liam knows how to braid and finds it relaxing so sometimes he practices on tracy or hayden.
- brett is trying to get liam to set him up with josh.
- theo likes to play roblox and bullies little kids on it in his spare time.
- liam loves blankets like big fluffy and soft throws and forces the pack to make pillow forts when it storms.
- corey and josh watch bad horror movies together and make fun of the main characters and how unrealistic it is.
- liam knows how to stich up wounds and sometimes does after fights since some of the chimeras don't heal as fast as most werewolves would.
-theo teases liam for his height, but secretly likes the idea of liam being smaller than him.
-josh is really into soccer and drags tracy to all of hayden’s games.
- liam’s ied manifested as a result of his bio father’s abuse and he still flinches when people raise their voice or at sudden loud noises.
- josh taught theo how to skateboard and now theo wants to teach liam.
-hayden plans every pack event and takes it very seriously.
- liam stays mostly at the pack house because his parents are hardly ever home and he hates being alone.
- for the first time in his life, theo finally feels like he has a family (not that he's willing to admit this out loud).

Got myself thinking of the thing I said at the end of this post (tldr; Izumi would make a fine Demeter for a FMA Mythology AU) and honestly... A FMA mythology AU with the Elric brothers being in Heracles' shoes sounds really fun? Like them having to do 12 great tasks to atone for their failed human transmutation and the ramifications of it all the while getting into some other shenanigans in the meanwhile, I mean. I'm kinda surprised that I haven't actually come across something like that already, because it would be pretty easy to execute all things considered. Besides the obvious point of trying to make up for past misdeeds, there are some other things that Ed and Al are already familiar with, such as being forced to work for an disliked authority, step-parents issues and half-siblings issues - the only thing really missing here is Chimera, but Heracles does meet few of her siblings, cousin-once-removed and possibly mother along the way so that should make it up.
Also. During his 12th labor, Heracles just so happens to meet Theseus and Pirithous while in the Underworld. He knows at least who Theseus is, as the two of them went to meet the Amazons together and even left with some souvenirs (Hippolyta's girdle & Antiope) under their belts. Now why are Theseus and Pirithous in the Underworld? Because Persephone, that's why. It's a long, silly myth. Now I'm having a mental image of Ed and Al going to the Underworld, meeting trapped Ling and Russell, Ed annoyedly asking what the hell the two of them are doing in here, them trying to explain that they heard what happened to Izumi's son and are trying to help with Ed not buying it, Al saying that they should help them as they're friends and Ed reluctantly agreeing to his brother's wish all the while muttering passive-aggressively that he signed to get only one person out of here and now he has to help three instead.

Hello I can I ask for more about the au where Kai and Nya are Chimera kids?
How do they react?
Do Cole and Jay find out right away? Doses the team find out together? I really like the concept!!
Yes, you may ask about the AU, Now on to the reactions
The group finds out at the same time since Chimera attacks them demanding they give back their children.
Kai won’t believe them at first because of the fact that he only remembers Ray and Maya as his parents but when he realizes that their right, He has a meltdown.
Nya is confused about this, I mean she didn’t really remember her adoptive parents but now she has two demon fathers and a dragon mother with two human adoptive parents.
Jay freaks out about the fact that his girlfriend is a dragon/demon hybrid but tries to help her figure this out
Cole tries to comfort his boyfriend with jokes during the meltdown, even though He’s freaking out as well.
Zane and Pixel had an inkling that Nya and Kai weren’t human due to their weekly checkups but they didn’t realize they were hybrids
Lloyd is spilt on this, he’s glad that he’s not the only kid with a parent who had special features but at the same time, what will happen to his friends now that they’re considered dragons, the very creatures they rode on in battle.

Jas- Angel (three sets of Large fluffy wings, Gold rings with eyes around the chest in an X pattern, halo near her head, Puffy white dress, extra eyes appear randomly, and baby fangs.)
Harvey- Ghost (Has a translucent and fuzzy look to him, but looks pretty normal for someone who died except for the fact his eyes look glossy and empty, his face has a slightly blue tint, there is scarring on his neck, and he has a little wisp-like tail on his backside that you commonly see popular media ghosts have.)
Elliott- Naga (Constrictor snake lower half, VERY LONG. Has long fangs, snake eyes fork tongue, and claws. His eyes glow when it’s dark.)
Leah- Deer centaur (Deer lower half, has ears, freckles, horns, and nose.)

Pierre- Dragon (Reddish brown anthro dragon. Has large wings and tough scales with an ability to breathe fire.)
Morris- Kobold (Small, chunky, dragon-like anthro lizard. Has a stubby tail and lacks wings.)
Emily- Half human Half spider (Lower half of a tarantula, upper half of a human. Has vibrant blue hair on the spider body, extra set of eyes, and uses her webs to make clothes)

Alex- Chimera (Has the head of a lion, a second head of a ram, the tail of a snake with a head, large tusks on the Lion head, paw-like hands, and hooves instead of feet. The heads on the top both are Alex, it’s just now there’s two. The snake head is more like an animal and acts on instinct.)
George- Manticore (Lion body with a scorpion tail and wings, but his mane is terribly thinned out and his fangs are dull. He has a more human face though, unlike his grandson, and is noticeably weaker. He no longer can fly or walk after the incident in the mines all those years ago.)
Evelyn- Anthousai (Nymph of flowers. Her hair is made of vines where flowers grow and her body houses many plants, fungi, and sometimes even bugs who enjoy the nectar of her sweet flowers. She lets both her human form and plant form mix into one, not letting herself be divided.)
Kent- Demon (VERY LARGE. Has a mouth full of pointed teeth with large fangs, sharp claws, tall upright horns, skin around the hands and feet are reddened and rough, pointed ears, Devil’s mark on his back, and a pointed tongue.)
Jodi- Werewolf (Looks human in the morning but becomes a wolf at night. She looks more like a regular wolf but if it was wearing her clothes and walking on it’s hind legs. Very polite as a werewolf.)
Sam- Hell hound (Got traits from both parents. In both forms he has tall yet slightly curved horns, claws, paws, a tail, dog nose, dog ears, has, a mouth full of sharp teeth, his body is covered in fur, he has digitigrade legs, has the muzzle and head shape of a dog, and has a devil’s mark on his back.)
Vincent- Imp (Got more traits from his father. Has small horns, fangs, a tail, pointed ears, baby wings, and claws.)
Penny- Moth creature (Akin to moth man, but more similar to poodle or rosy maple moths. She has large wings, fluff around the neck, an extra pair of arms, solid color eyes, antenna, fluff around the wrists, thin fuzz over the body, a long thin tongue, and the abdomen of a moth.)
Pam- Moth creature (Like moth man, but as a grease moth. Has damaged wings which means she cannot fly you to the desert, has an extra pair of arms, body has a dusty, almost powdery look to it rather than the fuzzy look of Penny, solid color eyes, antenna, a long thin tongue, and the abdomen of a moth. She leaves splotches of a dusty looking residue on moist surfaces and on others.)
Clint- Gargoyle (Completely made of stone. Has wings, pointed ears, claws, and tusks. His body has cracks all over and a few chipped pieces can be seen.)
Mayor Lewis- Jackalope (An anthro rabbit with horns of a deer. His ears stick up high, his tail is short but very puffy, has buck teeth, and still has a distinct mustache despite being covered in hair already. Has unnaturally good luck, which he says is because of the lucky shorts but is actually due to a jackalope’s natural luck based magic.)

ʙᴀᴄᴋꜱᴛᴏʀʏ
The dread doctors took Theo when he was just nine years old. He had a major heart defect that was sure to kill him without a transplant, and said transplant would make Theo perfect for the doctors' experiments as he would be a genetic chimera. The first successful chimera. They convinced Theo that his older sister Tara wanted him to have her heart so that he would be able to keep living and he believed them. He tricked her into falling into the river, at their favourite spot on the bridge in the preserve, and watched as she died, just as they'd told him to.
They raised him as his guardians, the most parental of the three being The Geneticist. She was like a mother to Theo and showed the largest amount of concern for his mental wellbeing. The doctors ensured he excelled in school in all of his academic subjects, fed him perfectly well, made sure he kept on top of gym visits and had him pursue theatre so he would be able to work as their puppet within schools. Young children, like he had been, were unlikely to survive the procedures they wanted to do. They needed older children.
The Geneticist grew fond of Theo as he aged, conceding things to him and allowing him to live more and more like a 'real kid'. It was her that taught him how to drive, her that bought him fast food following theatre rehearsals, her that bought him his first and only pet, her that helped with his first full shift and helped groom him after runs in the woods, and it was her that helped him plan his escape.
It took a lot of careful care to plan the deaths of each doctor, and hurt so much more to know he had to kill the Geneticist if he wanted to actually be free. She wrote each of their wills, making sure everything that they had would go to Theo and it was her that gave him her blessing to end her very long life. She'd always been invested in their goal of reviving La Bête du Gévaudan, but she had grown more invested in her son.
Theo knew he was trans for a long time. The Dread Doctors may have been murderers, but they were also scientists, so weren't fool enough to deny Theo what he wanted. Theo didn't want them anywhere near him with knives, so while they'd off-handedly offered to help with his transition on several occasions, he'd denied.
When he turned up at Peter's, this was something Peter immediately took to researching with him. The two spent long nights together finding the best surgeons, prices be damned, and got Theo what he wanted.
Theo now takes testosterone injections and has had top surgery. He's still looking into bottom surgery, because he and Peter aren't sure how his body would heal around it if something were to go wrong.

Because of the way he was treated by the dread doctors, Theo didn't really have time for many hobbies.
When he was younger he did little league with Scott and Stiles, but he didn't truly have a chance to play sports for enjoyment after he left, he was only given the chance to exercise to maintain his figure. The one thing he did find that he enjoys is theatre.
The dread doctors wanted him to be a good actor to serve his purpose as they travelled around, and so he got to do theatre classes at each of the high schools that he attended, assuming they provided it as an option. He found that he had quite the passion for theatre and quickly began taking on lead roles in most shows he partook in.

Theo gave up on imagining a life after the dread doctors a long time ago so now he has no aspirations. He doesn't know what he wants to do, or where he wants to be, he just knows what he's good at. The closest thing he has to any sort of aspiration is his desire to rekindle his friendships from childhood and earn his place in the Hale pack.

Theo has no idea what happened to his parents. The doctors spoke to him, not them, and then his sister was dead and he was being taken away. He hasn't seen his parents since Tara's funeral and never dared to ask the doctors what happened to them, he knew he wasn't allowed to talk about his life before.
He carries a lot of guilt over what happened to Tara, even though he was so young when it happened. He remembers Stiles accusing him of being emotionless for being able to kill her but as he'd said himself - he was a kid, he still believed in Santa. He believed the doctors. He regrets that now and would happily die a hundred times over if it meant that Tara got to live now.
Peter isn't quite family just yet, but when Theo turned up in the pouring rain and asked Peter to take him in, with the knowledge that he'd understand tucked in his back pocket, he became Peter's ward. Peter is maybe the closest thing he had to a father, that he can remember anyway.

As a Chimera, equal parts Werewolf and Werecoyote, Theo is in effectively peak physical condition. It’s a great improvement compared to his childhood, where for a while things looked bleak - like he may not survive until his eleventh birthday. Sometimes, he still has unusual feelings around his heart, like it’s beating ‘wrong’ though Theo knows that means nothing.

Growing up with the Dread Doctors, Theo didn’t eat much high quality food. Often, it was the bare minimum, though still balanced. He didn’t often get the chance to eat junk food like other people his age, and now he takes the chance whenever it’s given to him. Though, he also thoroughly enjoys the food Peter makes for him, and is more than happy to take that to school rather than eating whatever it is the cafeteria serves.

He spent a little while living out of his truck, and living with Peter absolutely makes sleeping easier, but it still doesn’t stop the nightmares. He has them every night, and sometimes wakes Peter in the process. He’s exhausted, always.

SvtFoE Rhombulus Rewrite (Pt. 5)
Me: *Falls from the ceiling and onto to floor*
Me: “Hey my amazing Chimeras, it’s been a hot minute, huh? About...” *Checks calender before ripping it up* “......at least a day.”
Sorry I’ve been gone for so long. I wrote the first few parts a while back during a week or so long hyperfixation spree before hopping to something else. But I’m mostly back now! Still might take a bit to get some of the other parts out, since planning the episodes out has been a bit of a challenge, and that will also be the case for the other parts. But I’m gonna try my best because I legitimately like this AU I’ve created and feel that the people who enjoy it deserve an ending. I can’t just create a character arc and not go through with it, after all! *Side-eyes the OG show*
So, this is Part 2 of Season 4 for my Rhombulus Rewrite! Thank you so much to everyone who has liked, reblogged, and followed along with all my past posts describing this AU thus far. If you do enjoy this AU, then please remember to like all of those posts! Now, I need to explain something important before getting on with the rest of this thing: I have two potential endings for Season 4 in my Rhombulus rewrite. That’s why I will be making a Part 6, which will have one of the alternate endings (this ending I have dubbed “Closest to Canon”), and then a Part 7, which will have the other, slightly more fun and good ending (this ending has been dubbed “Canon is My B*tch Now”). This post will be a continuation of the previous one, but the endings will split off at “Mama Star”. Hope you enjoy this part!
Season 4 (Part 2):
- So I forgot to add something important to my last part of the rewrite. Well, okay, the particular episode isn’t all that important, but the part I’m adding might be a bit important. So, as I said in my last post, in “Between a Rock and a Hard Place” (an episode that I made), it is revealed the the MHC basically want Rhombulus to spy on Eclipsa, so I decided to add some stuff to actually show that a bit, starting with “The Ponyhead Show!”
- Rhombulus might offer to host a small segment on the show as an excuse to follow Eclipsa around. In the background during certain scenes, we might be able to see Rhombulus hiding behind things or sneakily taking notes during Eclipsa scenes. He’ll also seem a bit nervous around he, probably due to feeling guilty about spying on her.
- Back to the actually ones that I should be talking about.
- I was not planning to add Rhombulus into “Cornball!”, but oh my god, I’m so glad I did. This isn’t even really gonna be a Rhombulus episode, but it’s gonna have some stuff for him in it. First off, he decides to check out the cornball match because 1) Star asked if he wanted to come and he had nothing else to do, 2) he really likes cornball, and 3) he was curious to see how this Monster-Mewman intergrated teams cornball match would go. He realizes he doesn’t really have a strong understanding of Monster-Mewman relations and wants to learn more about the whole mess, especially since he and the MHC are so highly involved in it.
- Rhombulus tries to find a seat, but some monsters recognize him and choose to avoid him. He then tries to sit near some Mewmans, but is not fully recognized and is seen as a monster. This is the first time Rhombulus has ever fully experienced what it’s like to be a monster in Mewni, and it shakes him a bit at how cold and even cruel Mewmans can be. This whole sequence is done without Rhombulus ever saying a word.
- He decides to just sit somewhere by himself behind the statium, when a small monster girl appears next to him and compliments his snake tails, saying they look cool. Rhombulus awkwardly thanks her, and compliments her tail as well.
- He then asks where the kid’s parents are (as this child is extremely small and should not be alone). The child casually responds that her mama is dead. This is a very awkward thing to hear, so Rhombulus carefully asks where her dad is. The child says “he got crystalized. I haven’t seen him in years, and I’m pretty sure I’m never gonna see him again. I miss him a lot.”
- Rhombulus softly asks why her dad got crystalized. She says that she doesn’t know. She and her auntie tried to find out, but they were denied. But whatever it was, she knows her papa is innocent, and someday, she’ll save him.
- This is important. Very, very important.
- One important thing about Rhombulus is that since he represents childhood, he is really great at getting along with little kids. So he asks if she wants to do something else besides sit around.
- The little girl jumps up at this, and she takes him over to meet her friends, who are joining in on the match. She asks if he wants to play too. Rhombulus says he’d rather just watch, but that he’ll cheer her on. She nods and runs off to join the game.
- As he watches the kids play, Star might ask Rhombulus what he thinks of all this. He pauses a moment before saying “kids are wiser than adults, aren’t they?” Star agrees.
- Before he leaves, Rhombulus asks the little girl what her name is, and she says that her name is Alita. He asks her what her dad looks like, and she tells him. Rhombulus then tells Alita that he knows the guy who crystalizes people, and maybe he can talk to him and see if they can let her dad go. Alita asks him to promise he’ll get her papa home as soon as possible if he gets freed. He pinky swears, and they part ways. This will come up again later.
- So I included Reynaldo in my all new original episode; “Between a Rock and a Hard Place”. And because he’s in “Meteora’s Lesson”, I might as well talk a bit about that. There is a chance Reynaldo will mention that Rhombulus visited, which Glossaryck will only barely react to, saying that he’s not surprised. Reynaldo also mentions that it’d be nice if Glossaryck came to visit him every once in a while, but Glossaryck basically waves it off. :(
- Rhombulus and Star will not get into a fight during “Junkin Janna”, and Rhombulus will actually appear to feel bad for wasting Star and Eclipsa’s time, and won’t be accusatory towards Eclipsa. So that’s that episode.
- I also decided to add a change that is both major and minor, because as you will see this season, I am changing more than just Rhombulus. Sure, I’m not gonna change everything that I don’t like about Season 4 or feel like they should have changed, but I decided to use this opprotunity to make a few things just a little bit better in my eye.
- This is that change: Kelly and Marco will not break up. Now, I will explain this decision more in my rewriting of the climax/finale, but I just want to stop the shipping drama and change things up a bit, as well as make most fans a bit happier in the process. Kelly was done dirty and deserves better. Starco ended up being a mess and it ended up ruining the impact of the finale for me. So I decided, why not just keep Kelco together?
- The next episode Rhombulus appears in is the extremely important “Cornonation” of course! Now, for this episode, a lot of things will stay the same and a lot of things will be different, particularly the ending.
- While the first half of the episode will remain mostly the same, little details all throughout it will be different.
- First off, Rhombulus won’t get very accusatory of Eclipsa. In fact, he might at some point take the rest of the MHC aside to try and convince them that Eclipsa is innocent. Hekapoo says that there is no way she isn’t the one who did it. Rhombulus swears that he’s been keeping an eye on her the whole day, and at no point did he see Eclipsa try to free Globgor.
- Hekapoo insists that there are no other person it could possibly be, so they will still need to keep an eye on her, which Rhombulus is very reluctant about.
- While guarding her, Rhombulus (while stroking his tails and looking away no less🤔) tells Eclipsa that, for the record, he thinks she’s innocent. She looks at him a bit funny, but thanks him. He also lets Star talk to Eclipsa alone with no questions asked.
- When Star comes back with Globgor, Rhombulus looks kinda nervous and afraid. Rather than Rhombulus proudly declaring that he will crystalize Globgor, Omni will prompt Rhombulus to perform the crystalization process, which he will be slightly reluctant about.
- While Eclipsa and Globgor see each other again and have that cute moment, Hekapoo will say “all right, enough stalling. Rhombulus, crystalize her.” Rhombulus will panic for a second, before starting to crystalize her, causing Globgor to break out, and the whole fight thing will ensue, with all that stuff being mostly the same.
- When Globgor says that the MHC can crystalize him, as long as they let his family go, Rhombulus will hesitate at this, clearly conflicted, before slowly aiming at Globgor. That’s when River inturrupts and makes the whole small speech about being a dad.
- Omni and Hekapoo protest this, saying that Eclipsa needs to be imprisoned for her crimes. But, in a surprising turn of events, Rhombulus speaks up against this, saying that the MHC (including himself) are pretty bad judges, and probably shouldn’t have a say in this. Plus, he’s pretty sure Eclipsa didn’t do it.
- Omni says that it is their duty to imprison the couple, but Rhombulus reminds them that actually, that’s RHOMBULUS’S job, and only he has the power to crystalize people. And he refuses to use it on them without at least giving them a fair trial or something like that.
- Everyone is slightly shooketh, and there is a pause until Eclipsa suggests letting the people decide. Then the whole scene plays out mostly the same, and it all pretty much works out. Omni and Hekapoo are a little moody about it, but accept this.
- After the cornonation, Globgor approaches Rhombulus in private room away from prying ears to ask him a small, simple question: “Why did you free me?” Rhombulus nervously chuckles, asking if he meant why he didn’t recrystalize him during the Cornonation.
- Globgor says no, and that Rhombulus knows what he really means. Rhombulus denies this at first, but he’s never really been good at lying, and Globgor pushes him into confessing that yes, he was the one to set free Globgor at the Monster Temple.
- Rhombulus admits he’s made mistakes in the past, and there’s probably a lot of people he unjustly imprisoned. He realized this recently and felt really bad about it, and because of his impulsive nature, while standing in the Monster Temple, without thinking, he decided to free Globgor. What was the worst that could happen? As soon as Globgor stormed off, Rhombulus immediately began to regret his decision, but didn’t know what to do about it. So he didn’t say anything.
- Globgor understands this, and thanks him for reuniting him with his family, even if it all ended up a little messy.
- I’m not exactly sure how to end “Cornonation”, but pretend I wrote down a good ending to the episode. Maybe some Mina foreshadowing or something. I’m such a good writer. Totally not just telling people to finish the rest themselves. Amazing. Fantastic. I’ll win all the awards.
- Instead of “Britta’s Tacos”, we should have gotten an episode centered around Tom and his trip, which will explain his decision to break up with Star. Wouldn’t come to the conclusion that he should break up with her, but would come to the conclusions that lead up to him choosing to break up with her. I’d like an episode like that. But I’m not gonna write it down, because I feel like someone else should do it. Still, pretend that in this AU, that episode exists.
- Sidenote: The B-Plot to that episode would be Marco coming back to Earth to introduce Kelly to his family, and maybe Star comes along? During that, we can catch up with the characters we left behind on Earth. The joke about Mariposa being a Starco baby will not happen, because ew wtf.
- “Gone Baby Gone” is a cute episode. But it is also expendable. Which is why I shall be replacing it with a different wholesome episode centered around Rhombulus character growth and also Alita. I’m not sorry.
- This new episode is called “Crystal Children”. The synopsis for this episode would probably be “Rhombulus follows through on a promise.” That’s basically the episode in a way. But it’s also so much more than that. It’s the near completion of his whole arc up to this point.
- We start out with Rhombulus talking rapidly in front of a bulletin board that looks more like a conspiracy theorist board. He is talking about ways they could change the justice system in Mewni. This part is a bit short, but very rambling and slightly confusing. He finally says, “so, watcha think?” and we cut to Hekapoo and Omni, who are sitting on chairs as his audience. There is a pause before Hekapoo says “no” while Omni says “absolutely not.” Rhombulus, clearly devestated, exclaims “WHAT?! But why!?!”
- Omni states that Mewni’s current system works perfectly fine, and there is no point in overcomplicating things and changing it. Hekapoo agrees, and Rhombulus is forced to pack up and go home.
- In the next scene, Rhombulus sitting in his lair and looking around at all the frozen monsters, which he feels bad about. He sighs and says “I wish I could free you guys. Then I could make up for everything.” He sits there for a few seconds before popping up and exclaiming “wait! I control the crystals! I can do whatever I want!” He runs over to a crystal and is about to unfreeze it when one of his snakes holds him back and reminds him that it’s probably a bad idea to just randomly unfreeze anyone, and he needs to think more carefully.
- They decide to instead freeze someone that they are much more sure isn’t evil. Rhombulus remembers Anita, and goes to look for her dad. He wanders around the lair for a bit before spotting him. Anita’s dad is admittedly pretty scary looking, and there is a moment where Rhombulus questions if this is really her dad. But he checks around, and it really is him. Rhombulus then has a moment of unsurety about freeing Anita’s dad, but he gathers his resolve and does it anyways.
- Anita’s dad wakes up in flight mode and immediately begins to scramble away from Rhombulus, who is also caught off guard. But Rhombulus manages to calm him down, and explains that he is taking him back to his daughter again.
- They then have a little escape adventure thing together (IDK I don’t have a full plan for this episode and really just wanted to get this post out) in which Rhombulus learns more about monsters and Anita’s dad (who will be named Crelin) learns about Rhombulus.
- It ends with Anita and Crelin being reunited, and Anita thanks Rhombulus for doing the right thing.
So that’s the end of this part! Hopefully my next part will come out soon!

"Honestly I'm more tempted to have Animo just. Fuckin adopt Kevin.
Like.
He finds a kid whose powerset includes absorbing/sampling DNA from other beings and even turning himself into said beings/going full Chimera. Plus the kid has an interest in mechanical engineering(even if that interest is mainly vehicle focused)?"
This version of Dr Animo 🤝 Public Knowledge AU Gabriel 🤝 Specter the Necromancer
Villains that are good parents
Yeah no honestly like.
I mean I think I'd compare this version of Animo to Hailfire's Cinnabar!Gabriel
Because he was totally picking the kid up with the intent to just use him for his evil plots but whoops he's getting some character development and he's a dad now.
Except he'd stay evil in this because ya know.

Chimera writers AU
Red used to write fun sci-fi stuff but now his stuff is more stuffy political writings and science articles because his parents encouraged him to write more "seriously." Xiaojiao comes from a family who writes long series about family honor and historical drama. She's broken the mold by writing about family honor and past drama and their effects in the modern day. And Xiaotian, as always according to my HC, is making a huge web novela version of JTTW.
These three meet.
