nanami’s side of the bed wouldn’t even be called nanami’s anymore. you sleep there nearly every day, blaming it on how the pillows smell of him.
nanami’s clothes aren’t his anymore, you're sleeping in his shorts and t-shirt tonight. you wore his shirt yesterday, and took his ties for some clothes experiments last week.
nanami’s sacred pens are no longer his own, he finds them on the table after you tried to scribble up something and forgot to put them back.
nanami’s mugs are now shared, always in the dishwasher even when he doesn’t recall using them at all.
nanami’s thoughts don’t belong just to him anymore. you’d bug him about it all day if he doesn’t share what he’s thinking — so he, with an exasperated sigh, tells you what’s on his mind.
nanami’s salary doesn’t go straight to his savings account like it used to, instead taking a portion of it to spend on you. ‘you’ means gifts, flowers, dates, trips, trinkets, and so on.
nanami’s weekends aren’t as quiet as they once were; now they’re chaotic, full of so much of you.
nanami’s fridge is full nowadays. candy, leftovers, ice cream, cheese, cake, bread, and the list goes on. so many things that don’t go along with his diet fill the once-empty shelves.
nanami doesn’t spend as much time in his study as before you moved in. now old books are left to collect dust, long forgotten in a room that’s never lit. even when he decides to pick one up and read it, it’s the minute that he sees your face the book is tossed away.
nanami’s happiness still comes from days off, but now it’s because those days are spent with you. days when he slept long and ignores the world are long gone, now he gets to sit and focus on you, watching as everything else becomes nothing but background noise.
nanami has always been sure he’s not looking for marriage, at least not right now. but he swears that ring looks so perfect for you. there’s no way he’d miss it.
nanami stands in front of the bathroom mirror 5 minutes late every day because you’re still figuring out how to fix his tie the right way without any help. he can’t seem to rush you, though — what’s being precisely on time have on your little giggles as you sit on the sink and struggle to finish a task he could have done in under a minute?
nanami has been spending so much time eating as of late, more time than he can afford. while he used to finish a meal in approximately fifteen minutes, now dinners could stretch to two hours. he couldn’t get off the table early when you sit across from him, talking and joking and doing anything that’s not eating. he simply can’t possibly not indulge in the little conversations, appreciating every moment he gets to spend in your presence. nanami’s life wouldn’t even be called his anymore. you’re a storm, invading his life all at once, bringing in your chaos along with you. you’ve infatuated him, you’ve assailed his senses and changed his very being. every time nanami’s eyes align with yours, he prays your presence isn’t a fleeting one. he silently hopes you don’t leave as suddenly as you came, that you plan to stay.

You were a good girl, and an exemplary student. One who consistently demonstrated exceptional discipline and commitment. Your dedication to academics was unwavering, as you diligently followed the rules and guidelines, never straying from the prescribed path.
Your singular focus was on nurturing your intellectual curiosity, and you showed no interest in indulging in activities that might distract you from your educational pursuits. Your life was calm, quiet, and focused.
Until, one day everything fucking changed.
———
In the enchanted realm of Hogwarts, there resided a studious and exceptionally bright seventh-year Ravenclaw witch, known for her unwavering dedication to academics and her steadfast commitment to the noble pursuit of knowledge. This young sorceress, a paragon of virtue, refrained from the temptations that often lured her peers, steering clear of parties, alcohol, and the haze of smoke that veiled the Ravenclaw common room during clandestine gatherings.
Her life was meticulously ordered, her goals sharply defined. But the universe had a curious sense of humor, for it threw her into an unexpected affiliation with the most notorious bad boy in Slytherin:
Mattheo fucking Riddle.
He, the embodiment of rebellion, was a stark contrast to her pristine existence. Mattheo's reputation preceded him: a Slytherin troublemaker, one who was almost always found in the midst of chaos. His devil-may-care attitude was a challenge to authority, and there was not one singular individual that could tie him down.
Yet, fate had woven their paths together, forcing the astute young witch to confront the complexity of human nature, unraveling layers of his defiance while simultaneously testing the boundaries of her own steadfast resolve.
And that witch; that poor fucking witch--well, that was you.
———
"Please, Riddle...if you'd take a seat," you ran your tongue along the backside of your teeth, straightening your posture in your chair as you tried to contain your irritation. "...I must express my desire to commence our endeavors prior to the conclusion of the academic term."
"Eager, are we?" Mattheo sneered, sauntering toward the desk painfully fucking slow. "You know, Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither is mastery. I'll sit when I'm fuckin' ready to sit."
His voice was low, the sadistic drawl of his tone making your bones ignite with fury. Gods, he certainly fucking loved testing you.
"And I won't tell you again...call me Mattheo."
You inhaled a sharp breath, flattening out your blue uniform skirt against your thighs as you bit your tongue hard enough to make it bleed.
"Rome may not have been built in a day, but it certainly collapsed in one--now, I won't ask again, Riddle..." you looked up, meeting his dark obsidian eyes, fighting back a sadistic smirk of your own as he narrowed his gaze in challenge. "Take. A. Seat."
The words were clipped behind your teeth with an obvious urgency that shut Mattheo up for a few seconds, the gears turning inside his head as he contemplated how he could one up your little jab--a constant occurrence that seemed to happen every single fucking time you met with him.
At this point, your tutor sessions were an easy seventy percent bickering with the remaining thirty being a half-assed session of one-sided discussion where he mostly offers you fleeting blank stares while zoning you out. You hated that you'd agreed to this, but you knew you needed to get on (and remain on) Professor Dumbledores good side if you wanted a career here at the school after you graduated--and you were so fucking hungry for it you'd do almost anything to solidify your fate.
Even if it meant surrendering your sanity to the hands of Mattheo fucking Riddle.
You chose not to let him, of all individuals, tarnish your path. Your reputation, fragile as it may have been, resembled a tinderbox, and he was the combustible element, ready to erupt at any given moment. This resolve became your steadfast anchor, shaping the direction of your choices.
"You know," Mattheo said as he finally slumped down into the chair across from you, his tousled brown hair falling effortlessly over his forehead. "I was under the impression that the brilliant Ravenclaws such as yourself valued intellect over impulsive haste..." he tilted his head, his gaze scanning every movement of your body as you stared at him. "It was my understanding that impatience was more of a Gryffindor trait."
Your fingers trembled with palpable irritation, yet you understood the imperative need to suppress it. You couldn't afford to reveal just how deeply he affected you, realizing that acknowledging it would subject you to endless taunts and jibes, a fate you were determined to avoid at any cost. This restraint became your shield in moments such as these.
"You wish to discuss house values, Riddle?" You tilted your head, straightening out your posture once again. "Because I, in complete honesty, was under the impression that Slytherins were known for their resourcefulness...your reluctance to cooperate suggests a rather curious lack of ambition."
Mattheo narrowed his eyes, his expression growing icier. "Resourcefulness doesn't mean blindly following every stupid instruction thrown at you, and ambition means choosing the battles worth fighting, not wasting time on pathetic, trivial matters."
With a subtle smirk, he leaned back, hooking his arm on the back of his chair as he eyed your discomfort--seemingly undisturbed by your challenge--and you chewed on the inside of your cheek, somehow knowing he wasn't finished.
And of course, he wasn't. "If you really believe this seemingly-stubborn insistence on when or if I sit reflects a lack of ambition, you clearly misunderstand the depths of Slytherin cunning. We pick our battles wisely, and right now, this isn't one of them."
Your blood pressure surged, the crimson currents in your veins reaching their boiling point. Months of enduring relentless bickering and one-upmanship had pushed you to the edge--this man may be an utter degenerate but he certainly knows how to use his mouth when it matters. You could no longer bear the weight of this incessant game, and in a fleeting moment of frustration, you finally succumbed to the pressure.
You knew this was your breaking point.
"I'm just trying to fucking help you." You said, before you even realized you had. You hardly ever cussed, never out loud--that is. "If you don't want to be here, then get out. I promise you, you won't be hurting my feelings if you do."
He huffed, leaning forward and crossing his hands together on top of the desk as he wet his stupidly plush lips, a devilish grin swallowing his cheeks while he revelled in the fact he'd so clearly fucking won. Yet again.
"No," he said. "I don't think I will."
You clucked your tongue, irritated even further at his response, gaze narrowing ever-so-slightly before you rolled your eyes--brushing off his suffocating arrogance and pulling your textbook out of your bag, slamming it down on top of the desk between your bodies.
"The Grimoire of Arcane Relics?" Mattheo read the title out loud, voice laced with a confused, almost offended undertone. "We don't cover this until the middle of second term..."
You cocked an eyebrow. "And?"
"Seems a bit...hasty, to shove this down my throat so early on," his voice carried a sadistic drawl that nearly made you leap across the desk and choke him unconscious. This man knew how to fucking test you. "Would it not be far more beneficial to proceed in the order the books are taught?"
You drew in another swift breath, the fabric of your navy robes clinging to your form, trembling fingers smoothing out any wrinkles on your button-up blouse as you adjusted it.
"I was unaware..." you said, not bothering to look up. "...that the individual I'd be tutoring this term was in fact a professor, and not a seventh year student..." you glimpsed him now, offering him merely but a slight tilt of your head as you watched his jaw tense. "...I must have been ill-informed, do pardon my ignorance."
"A moment of self-awareness? What a fucking breakthrough for you, Raven...pity it took you so long." He was clasping his hands together on top of the desk with enough force to involuntarily crack his knuckles. "Maybe there's hope for you yet, though I wouldn't hold my fucking breath."
"Please don't," you said, teeth gritting. "We wouldn't want to deprive your already-oxygen-starved brain of any more, now would we? It needs all the help it can get."
Mattheo's gaze sharpened, his lips curving into a teasing smirk, highlighting the scars that adorned them. The effect he had on you was undeniable, a sensation you longed to dismiss more than anything. However, with every passing moment in his presence, resisting the pull of attraction became an increasingly futile endeavour--yes, he was suffocatingly arrogant, but Gods, he was fucking attractive.
And he knew it.
"Quite the fucking mouth on you, I'll admit..." he dropped his voice to a low whisper, so deep it practically rattled your bones as it vibrated through you. "Never met a Ravenclaw with such an attitude problem...maybe I could tutor you on how to fix that issue, once we're done here, of course."
Your stomach twisted, heat spreading through your veins like wildfire. Curse him and his painstakingly arrogant charm. Curse him to bloody hell.
"It'd be a cold day in hell before I take any sort of guidance from you, Riddle..." you whispered, your voice accidentally reverberating as a seductive pitch. "And even then, I'd probably still refrain."
"You don't know when to shut the fuck up, do you?..." his eyes darkened, an evil mischief crawling its way through his irises. "What would daddy Dumbledore think about the way you're speaking to me, huh?"
Your heart stalled. "I-"
Your words faltered as Mattheo stood up, moving leisurely like a predatory creature circling its prey, until he was right beside you. His eyes, sharp as daggers, bored into your skull, and he loomed over you, a sadistic smirk twisting his lips into a cruel curve. The sight sent a shiver down your spine, knotting your stomach with an unsettling mix of fear and desire.
He placed a singular hand on your desk, leaning down closer to your level. "Perhaps I pay him a little visit...perhaps I tell him that you've been missing lessons, that you've been extremely unprofessional...perhaps I somehow fail my next exam...perhaps-"
"Okay, okay!" You panicked, cutting him off. "You've made your point, Riddle...I'm sorry, okay?" The words were fucking painful as you forced them past your teeth, and you swallowed your ego, looking up at him with wide, innocent eyes. "Let's just get this over with, please?"
Mattheo huffed, gratified by how effortlessly his threats appeared to compel your submission. The gears turned in his head as he grasped the extent of the power he truly wielded over you. He fully understood that your entire post-graduate career almost certainly depended on his decisions, and he was eagerly anticipating taking action.
"I like the way you say please..." his voice was breathless, his dark eyes consumed by something you couldn't really identify as he slumped down in the chair directly next to you, his sight never once leaving yours. "Do it again."
Your body tensed, immobilized as he inched closer, his penetrating eyes scrutinizing your features with intense focus. It was no secret that Mattheo had been oblivious to your existence until he was placed under your guidance--despite being the most popular Slytherin student in the school, you, a practically invisible Ravenclaw, were easy to overlook. It had taken him over three weeks to even remember your name, a fact he never bothered to acknowledge, let alone use.
But within that time frame, within the time you'd been tutoring him; as much as he drove you mentally fucking insane, you couldn't deny that every time he'd show up for lessons with torn knuckles, cut lips and alcohol radiating from his breath--you couldn't help but to feel something in the pit of your stomach.
Whether that sensation was disgust, arousal, or sheer terror, you couldn't quite pinpoint. It was a feeling that whispered in your veins, urging you to surrender to the dominance he held over you. It screamed for you to let him have his way without resistance, because just as he commanded your obedience, he wielded the same control over the entire damn school. The prospect of defying him felt like a dangerous game you weren't willing to play.
"Riddle-"
He tilted his head, his face dangerously close to yours now, his eyes peering into your soul as he stared. As he wet his lips, his breath turning shallow, you felt a feeling brewing in the pit of your stomach, and one between your thighs as well.
"I said, do it again." His voice was a mere breath as it left his lips, his eyes studying you as though you were a page of a textbook. Not that he'd ever read one of those. "Go on, Raven...beg for me..."
Your breath hitched, and you involuntarily clutched the edges of the wooden chair between your fingers with an indescribable force. You didn't want to admit it--not to Mattheo, not to anyone really--but you were a virgin. You'd never even kissed a boy; your entire life was devoted to your studies...so this...this was extremely fucking new to you.
When you remained silent, Mattheo's eyes darkened even further, turning a shade of obsidian so intense they put even the stormiest midnight skies to shame.
"You want me to keep your perfect little reputation intact, hm?" He breathed, leaning closer. "You want me to help you stay on Dumbledores good side?"
Your throat was more arid than the desert, and you nodded, unable to blink--unable to peel your fucking eyes off of him.
"Then do as I say..." he murmured, a large battered hand finding purchase on your thigh, your entire body involuntarily flinching at the foreign contact. "I want to hear you, Raven."
You stared down at his hand resting lazily over the fabric of your blue uniform skirt--it's massive size swallowing up almost the entirety of your thigh, calloused palm catching on the pleats as it slid upwards, agonizingly slowly--and when he paused, stretching his fingers around the diameter of your thigh the best he could, fingers digging into your flesh as he squeezed; you gasped, involuntarily, and he huffed--bringing his lips dangerously close to your ear.
"One more chance..." he purred, and you could practically hear the smirk on his lips. "You won't like what'll happen-"
"Please!" You snapped, squeezing your thighs together out of pure desperation. "Please, Mattheo...please, let's just get this over with..."
"Mm." He hummed in satisfaction, slowly pulling his hand off of you. "That's fucking right..." he murmured, warm breath tickling your ear. "Nothing is sweeter than your submission, Raven."
You swallowed, not daring to look at him, nodding your head frantically in response as he pulled away, slumping back in the chair--not once peeling his eyes off of you, spreading his legs way-too-fucking wide as he made himself comfortable--he was silent, now, watching your chest rise and fall with each shallow breath, watching the way you squirmed in your chair at his sudden dominance--a dominance that had an effect on you that you couldn't even begin to describe.
And then, before you could even realize what was happening, Mattheo leaned back in, his fingers gripping your jaw and tilting your face towards his--and as you meet his dark, intoxicating eyes, your lungs stalled, entire body shrinking in your seat as he stared at you with such intensity that you felt like he could see right through you.
"From now on, I'm in charge here," he murmured, his voice low and dangerous. "Understand?"
You swallowed the lump of anxiety in your throat, and watched his darkened amber eyes as they glanced over your lips, lingering there for far too long, before returning back up to meet your gaze--something swimming in his irises that made your stomach twist.
When you were silent, he tilted his head, cocking an eyebrow. "Use your words, Raven..."
"Yes." You squeaked, voice barely audible. "I understand."
He hummed, a devilish smirk crawling across his lips, fingers digging into your jaw with added pressure as he pulled you closer, lips so close you'd touch with a deep enough breath.
"Understand, what?" He breathed, eyes dipping over your lips yet again. "Say my fucking name."
"Mattheo..." you couldn't breathe, couldn't move, could only obey his words as though he was controlling you like a puppet on strings. "I understand, Mattheo."
He huffed, smirking. "Good girl, Raven..." his voice was a mere breath as it left his lips, his full lashes fluttering as he blinked, meeting your eyes. "You learn so quickly...I should have done this months ago..."
When he pulled back, slowly releasing you, air slowly returned to your lungs; not enough to rid the dizziness from your brain but just enough to keep you conscious. Mattheo turned toward the desk now, as though nothing even happened, gesturing for you to start the lesson.
And somehow, you did.

LINGER | E.M.
word count: 1.1k
warnings: nothing really, just an idea I thought might be cute, induced by working from 8 to 8 for weeks now- mutual pining
summary: you've got a little crush on the new guy your dad hired to work with you in the office at his motel, how lucky are you that he's got a little crush on you too
part two: fleeting
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You’d been staring at the booking list for far too long, and the room numbers were all starting to look the same which made your job so much harder- every time you allocated a guest to a seemingly open room, you’d find there to already be someone there, it was a grand mess and your Dad was so caught up in freaking out about the multiple double bookings that you and Eddie had been tasked with fixing it all on your own.
“I swear,” he sighed, clipboard in one hand and a bunch of keys in the other. “We’ve put out so many fires this week, they might as well give us fire suits as our uniforms,” he sat down next to you, shoulder against your own, just a little too close in comparison to how he sits next to the rest of the staff members. He smelt of cigarettes, cherry cola and too much deodorant spray, he was sure the smell of smoke would bother you, you weren’t all that sure why it didn’t. “No,” he mumbled, a little bump against your arm as he emptied his hands to be able to cover the list of rooms with his fingers. “You’ve got that look on your face again.”
“What look?” you scoffed, and had you been any less exhausted you would’ve absolutely melted when you turned to see him smiling at you, you’d found he had a way of smiling even without noticing, whatever the two of you were doing or saying, he’d be halfway through ranting and the simplest reply from you would have him grinning from ear to ear, in his own little world.
“That one that says the world is ending,” he shook his head, and reached over your arm to hang the keys on the keys board, allowing himself a chance to linger when he had to get even closer to you, pleased when you were looking right into his eyes. “I hate that look; it gives me a headache when I can’t make it go away.”
“You have a headache?” you didn’t notice how your voice dipped, he did, it made him smile again, eyes trying to take in every little reaction on your face, just like he always does, he always finds something else to make him fall a little harder. He nodded, shrugged, and looked down to your list to see if he could help move someone around. “Is that why you’ve been so snappy with me all day?” you teased, being the one to bump his shoulder this time.
“I’ve not been snappy.”
“Please, you’ve been speaking to me with perfect punctuation every time we have to check another room,” you had something for his headache, you had to drink some for your own a few minutes ago, so you didn’t even think about handing him two pills, ever delighted when your fingers touched as he took them, and it didn’t bother you half as much as it should’ve when he motioned to steal a sip from your bottle. “You’re tired, Eddie, you need to take a break, go to your room for a bit, everyone else has,” you yawned, it made your nose scrunch up a little and made Eddie’s heart do a little backflip, how you’d managed to make something so mundane seem so cute he didn't understand. “I’ll be fine, promise.”
“You’re tired too,” he noted and he wasn’t sure if he was crossing a boundary but he reached out to squeeze your hand lightly, dropped it back to the table to make a note of a room he’d found empty, blushed horribly when you looked away to try and fail to hide a tired little smile, he had no idea how giddy it made you feel. “I’d rather be tired with you than have you try and fix this mess. Besides, I only work for your dad, you have to go home with him.”
Eddie wasn’t one to pretend he didn’t notice the passive-aggressive comments aimed at you when you were doing your best, or the unprofessional remarks when you made a mistake, or how despite your best efforts to calm the chaos it only made it possible for you to get rid of more chaos the next day. He didn’t treat your dad any differently than he would if he didn’t have a major crush on you, but he also couldn’t care much for the man, he considered how a critical man, in general, decided to be even more so with someone who’d yet to give him reason to doubt her.
“You’re right,” you sighed and when you folded your legs and leaned back in the wheeled office chair you appreciated the sight of him, he’d been running about all day, the mess of curls that was usually in the way when he was working was now tucked into a skew knot on his head, the cutest thing, you thought, the perfect view to bring some color into the lifeless office you were in. “Pity me, won’t you, and help me write out those new tags for the lost keys.”
“Only if you don’t insist on sorting them by color this time, it takes so much longer, and you know the guest won’t even notice,” you were sweetening the deal, smiling up at him as you opened your rainbow lunchbox to show off the cinnamon bun that you’d saved at lunch for the two of you to share.
“Yeah, but I notice, and it looks pretty,” he wouldn’t dream of fighting you on that, not really, but he’d fight off sleep for weeks more if it meant he’d get some extra time with you, you were sweeter when you were tired, he wasn’t sure how that was possible, but you didn’t try as hard to hide your crush on him, and he didn’t have to try so hard to hide his.
“Hmm, well you are the expert on pretty,” he noted, and he was ever smooth with it as he made sure to take a little extra time to take his half of the bun from your hands, always one to linger, to make you swoon so easily.
“I see that headache is gone,” he’d tell you it’s because you weren’t frowning anymore, point out that as soon as you smiled at him he completely forgot he had a headache to begin with, instead he just shrugged, used a stray napkin to wipe the icing from your cheek and took it all in as you hummed, happy despite the mess the two of you had to solve. Your father hired him to help you with the things you couldn’t keep up with, as your mood shifted and your knee brushed against his thigh, he considered that he was very good at his job.

Rinkside Romance
nico hischier x reader
summary - 3.2k words. Y/N, an author has an unexpectant meeting with the captain of the New Jersey Devils, Nico Hischier
note - this is my first writing ever, so I hope you all like it :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, a rich symphony of scents mingling with the soft murmur of conversation that enveloped the quaint little coffee shop. The sound of the coffee machines whirred in harmony with the gentle hum of patrons bustling about, seeking respite from the chilly evening.
Amidst the comforting ambience, Y/N found herself engrossed in the world of her latest novel, her fingers dancing across the keyboard as she wove her characters through the last paragraph of the chapter. Her hands moved swiftly, navigating the keys with practiced ease, each click punctuated by the rhythmic beat of the nearby espresso machines.
As she reached for her steaming cappuccino, her heart skipped a beat, realizing the cup was empty. With a sense of urgency to maintain her creative momentum, she hurried to the counter, her mind already lost in the world of her story. “Another one?” the barista questioned, his voice rising above the din of orders being shouted out and the hiss of steam from the machines. Y/N nodded, a smile playing on her lips as she slid him the empty cup across the counter.
Her gaze wandered across the bustling cafe, taking in the familiar faces and comforting atmosphere that had made it her sanctuary since moving to New Jersey. But then, her attention was captured by a figure across the room – a man whose rugged charm and quiet confidence seemed to draw her in.
His hand swept his dark hair away from his face, revealing warm brown eyes that met hers with a sparkle. Their eyes met briefly, and in that fleeting instant, the moment felt like a page ripped from one of her books. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the coffee shop, he held her gaze, momentarily suspending time itself. It felt as though the world had quieted, leaving only the two of them in a shared moment of serenity amidst the chaos.
“Cappuccino for Y/N!” snapping back to reality as her name was called, Y/N collected her fresh cappuccino, thanking the barista with a nod of gratitude. As she grabbed the cup, she turned back to look for the stranger with the big brown eyes. To her surprise, he was still there, seemingly frozen in time, his gaze unwaveringly fixed on her as she smiled. With a last shy smile, Y/N returned to her booth, unaware that destiny was about to intertwine.
Puck Drop and Bar Hops
A few weeks later, Y/N found herself amidst a lively crowd at a local sports bar, her friend had begged her to come as she wanted to show her the life, the energy, and the love the city had for their sports team. Tonight it was a hockey match, the new jersey devils against the dallas stars. Y/N didn't know too much about the sports, but kept her eyes glued to the screen as she struggled to keep up with where the puck was. No matter the extent of her knowledge or lack thereof, her friend was right, the energy was impeccable as the whole bar rustled and shaked as the team scored goal after goal. Cheers and glasses of beer clinking together as the New Jersey Devils won 5-2. “See! It wasn't too bad getting out of your apartment to experience this right?” Jessica chimed, she had in fact struggled to get Y/N out of the apartment as she went on about wanting to finish the chapter she was currently engrossed in. Y/N stuck her tongue out mockingly as they both laughed, “Come on! You need to come out more, explore the city, not just your apartment and the coffee shop! It might even give you some inspiration for your books,”
A few weeks later, Y/N found herself amidst a lively local sports bar, her friend Jessica having begged her to come out and experience the vibrant energy and passion the city has for their sports team. Tonight, it was a hockey match–the New Jersey Devils against the Dallas Stars. Y/N didn’t know too much about the sport, nevertheless kept her eyes glued to the screen as she struggled to keep up with the whereabouts of the puck. No matter the extent of knowledge or rather lack thereof. Jessica’s enthusiasm was contagious, and Y/N couldn’t help but get swept up in the excitement as the whole bar erupted in cheers with each goal scored by the Devils. The atmosphere was electric, with glasses clinking together and jubilant chants filling the air as the Devils secured a decisive 5-2 victory.
“See! It wasn’t too bad getting out of your apartment to experience this right?” Jessica chimed, a triumphant grin spreading across her face. Y/N playfully stuck her tongue out in response, joining in the laughter that bubbled between them.
“Come on! You need to go out more, explore the city, not just your apartment and the coffee shop! It might even give you some inspiration for your books,” Jessica continued, nudging Y/N with a playful elbow.
As they chatted and celebrated, Jessica leaned in closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “You know, this bar is where the team usually comes to unwind after games,” she revealed, excitement dancing in her eyes. “Who knows, maybe we’ll get to meet some of the players.”
Before Y/N could respond, the door swung open, causing a wave of cheers to erupt from the fans in the bar as all heads turned to face the entrance. The atmosphere crackled with excitement as a group of familiar faces made their grand entrance–the New Jersey Devils themselves.
They were greeted with enthusiastic pats on the backs and a flurry of “Go Devils!” from the triumphant fans as they navigated through the bar, basking in the adoration of their supporters. Among them, Y/N’s gaze was immediately drawn to a pair of unmistakable brown eyes, their warmth and familiarity sparking a sudden surge of recognition within her.
Her heart raced as she watched the players move through the crowd, their presence commanding attention and admiration from everyone present. Could it truly be him? The realization sent a thrill through her, igniting a spark of home and curiosity that she couldn't ignore.
“They’re cute right!” Jessica giggled next to her, her eyes glued to the players now standing by the bar. Y/N turned around in confusion, as her friend pried her eyes away from the players ordering drinks and beers. “Y/N you were quite literally drooling,” Jessica laughed, as a heath rushed to Y/N cheeks.
Caught off guard, Y/N blushed hard as she attempted to regain her composure. “I, uh, I guess so,” she stammered, her gaze flitting nervously between Jessica and the group of athletes at the bar.
Jessica leaned in closed, her continuing to eye the players. “I think Timo Meier is pretty cute,” she admitted with a playful grin. “But, oh my god, have you seen the captain? He’s also Swiss, like Timo, and he was a first-round draft pick. And those big brown eyes? Endearing as hell!”
As the evening wore on, Jessica couldn’t help but gush about the players pointing them out amidst the crowd. Y/N listened intently, her eyes skipping a beat as Jessica rambled on about their captain, Nico, pointing to a tall familiar figure. With a jolt of recognition she realized that Nico, the captain Jessica has been raving about, was the same guy from the coffee shop. Her cheeks flushed with warmth as she stole a glance in Nico’s direction, her mind racing with newfound understanding.
Suddenly, a bartender approached their table, a tray of drinks in hand. “These are from one of the players,” he announced with a wink. “Lucky you!”
Y/N’s eyes widened in surprise as she glanced over to the bar, spotting the hockey player with the familiar brown eyes. A rush of excitement coursed through her veins as she quietly thanked herself for agreeing to go out today.
Emboldened by the gesture, Y/N found herself drawn to the bar, her heart pounding in her chest as she took a big swig of her drink and approached the handsome stranger. With a warm smile, she thanked Nico for the drinks, her voice steady and sure. Nico’s laughter filled the air, a melodic sound that wrapped around her like a comforting blanket. “You’re welcome,” he replied, his tone warm and inviting.
Before she could say anything else, he extended his hand with a charming grin. “I’m Nico,” he introduced himself, his eyes twinkling with amusement. Y/N felt a rush of nerves as she struggled to respond, the weight of Nico’s presence catching her off guard, and in the heat of the moment without thought she blurted out an awkward “I know,” immediately cringing at her own words. Nico’s laughter only grew louder, genuine amusement dancing in his eyes. “Well, it’s nice to meet you again, ‘I know’,” he teased gently, his easy going demeanor putting her at ease.
Blushing furiously, Y/N couldn’t help but laugh along with him, the tension of the moment melting away in the warmth of their shared laughter. “Sorry, that probably sounded weird,” she chuckled nervously. “My friend just told me about the team and their captain, and then I realized it was you and…” you rambled on as you tried to explain yourself as the awkwardness you felt lingered. Nico shook his head, his smile widening as he interrupted your panic. “Not at all. It’s kind of cute actually,” he reassured her, his gaze warm and reassuring.
Relieved by his response, Y/N felt her nerves begin to ease. “Thanks,” she replied, a genuine smile lighting up her face. “So, uh, what brings you to the bar tonight?” she asked, eager to keep the conversation flowing.
As the evening progressed, the conversation between Y/N and Nico flowed effortlessly, punctuated by shared laughter and easy banter. Y/N occasionally glanced over at her friend Jessica, ensuring she was enjoying herself, only to find her deeply engaged in conversation with Timo Meier, the player she has pointed out earlier.
Feeling a surge of happiness for her friend’s newfound connection, Y/N turned her attention back to Nico. With each passing minute, she found herself drawn further into Nico’s magnetic presence. Her initial nervousness gave way to a growing sense of comfort and excitement. And as the night wore on, she couldn’t shake the feeling that this unexpected encounter was just the beginning of something truly special.
Jersey lights and Italian Delights
The clicking of Y/N’s heels echoed across the lobby of her apartment building as she nervously adjusted her dress, the sleek black fabric hugging her curves in all the right places. She had opted for a longer dress at Jessica’s suggestion, feeling a bit out of her comfort zone in such formal attire, especially for a date. Taking a deep breath, she gathered her courage before stepping out into the cool evening air.
As she descended the steps, her heart raced with anticipation. There he was, leaning against the sleek black car, his brown hair swept back, revealing those familiar and warm brown eyes. When he spotted her, his face lit up with a smile that sent butterflies fluttering in her stomach.
“Hey there, ‘I know’,” he greeted her, his voice filled with warmth and affection. “You look stunning!”
Y/N felt her cheeks flush at his compliment as she approached him, his arms wrapping around her waist in a comforting embrace. Meeting his gaze, she couldn’t help but smile back. “Thank you,” she replied softly, her heart racing with excitement. “Ready for our date?”
Their first date was nothing short of magical – a candlelit dinner at a cozy Italian restaurant, where time seemed to stand still as they delved into deep conversations and shared intimate stories. Amidst the flickering candlelight, Nico and Y/N’s connection only grew stronger as the night went on.
As their relationship progressed, Y/N and Nico found themselves drawn to familiar places that held special memories for them. None more so than the cozy quaint coffee shop where they had first locked eyes.
“One cappuccino for my favorite author!” Nico’s voice rang out cheerfully as he approached their table, bearing two steaming cups of coffee. Y/N glanced up at the brown haired man, a smile tugging at her lips at his playful remark. Accepting the coffee, she savored the rich aroma before taking a sip, feeling the warmth spread through her. “Well, thank you, my favorite hockey player in the NHL,” she quipped in return as he settled into the booth opposite her. Nico chuckled, a playful glint in his eyes. “Yeah, I’d better be,” he teased, reaching across the table to gently brush his fingers against hers.
Their playful banter was interrupted by the familiar sound of Y/N’s phone buzzing with a notification. It was an email about her book release event, scheduled for the following week. Excitement bubbled up inside her as she shared the news with Nico. “I’d love for you to come,” she said, her voice tinged with anticipation. “It would mean the world to me to have you there.” Nico’s response was immediate and unwavering. “Of course I’ll be there,” he said, his brown eyes filled with sincerity.
“I wouldn’t miss it for anything.”
As the day of the book release event arrived, Y/N felt a mix of nerves and excitement coursing through her veins. Sitting at the table where she signed copies of her book for eager fans, her heart was fluttering with each interaction. Amidst the bustling atmosphere, she couldn’t help but notice a familiar figure in the line. It was Nico, patiently waiting with a copy of her newly released book clutched to his chest.
When Nico finally approached her table, his eyes lit up with excitement as he handed her his copy of her book. “Hey there ‘I know’,” he greeted warmly, a grin spreading across his face, “I’ve been looking forward to getting my hands on a signed copy of this book. I’ve heard the author is amazing!”
Y/N chuckled, feeling a warmth spread through her. She signed his copy, adding a little extra flourish with a heart next to her signature.
“Well, a little special signature for my favorite fan then!”
As the event came to a close, Y/N stood up from her seat, approaching Nico who had been engaging with her fans and colleagues throughout the evening. She smiled at him, her heart swelling with gratitude. “Thank you for being here,” she spoke softly. “Having you by my side means more to me than you’ll ever know.”
Nico pulled her into a warm embrace, his arms wrapping around her protectively. “I’ll always be here for you,” he whispered, pressing a tender kiss to her forehead.
“No matter what.”
From Ice to Ink
Amidst the whirlwind of her book release and hectic schedule, Y/N found herself attending her first hockey game at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. Adorned in Nico’s jersey, proudly displaying the number 13 on her back, she felt a sense of pride and excitement as she entered the arena to support Nico and the New Jersey Devils as they faced off against the Nashville Predators.
Welcomed by a friendly security guard, Y/N was guided to the room reserved for the players’ wives and girlfriends, where she was warmly greeted by the other women. Engaging in conversation and camaraderie, she felt a sense of belonging among them, despite it being her first time attending a game. As the game started, Y/N found her seat alongside the other wives and girlfriends, excitement filled the air. And Y/N couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride as she watched Nico and the Devils take to the ice.
As the game unfolded, the tension in the area was palpable. The Predators put up a strong fight, but the Devils matched them stride for stride. The score remained close throughout the game, with both teams trading goals in a back-and-forth battle. Y/N watched with bated breaths as Nico and his teammates fought tirelessly on the ice. The energy in the arena was electric, with fans on the edge of their seats as the team vied for control of the game.
Finally, in the third period, with the score tied, Nico seized a golden opportunity. As the puck soared into the back of the net, the arena exploded with cheers and applause. Amidst the jubilant roar of the crowd, Nico’s celebration was a sight to behold. With a leap of sheer exhilaration, he raised his arms triumphantly, his face radiant with joy.
Turning towards the stands, his gaze found Y/N amidst the sea of cheering fans. A wide smile spread across his face as he blew her a kiss, a gesture filled with love and appreciation. In that moment, amidst the deafening roar of the crowd, it was as if time stood still, and their connection shone brightly for all to see.
As the final buzzer sounded, signaling the end of the game, the scoreboard read: New Jersey Devils 4, Nashville Predators 3. The Devils had emerged victorious in a hard-fought battle, much to the delight of fans in attendance.
After the game Y/N waited patiently with the other women in the lounge as the players headed to the locker room. Y/N couldn’t resist checking social media for highlights of the game. To her surprise, she stumbled upon a clip of Nico’s post-game interview, “The celly you did after your goal was terrific,” the interviewer remarked. “That kiss into the crowd was that planned? Perhaps directed at someone?”
Nico’s smile widened as he responded, “Well, it was a special moment for me. It’s actually my girlfriend’s first game here, so I just wanted to show her a little extra love.”
Watching the interview, Y/N felt a rush of emotion as Nico publicly referred to her as his girlfriend for the first time. When Nico finally emerged from the locker rooms, she couldn’t contain her excitement, rushing to greet him with a big hug and congratulations on the win and his goal.
“So, I’ve been upgraded from ‘I know’ to girlfriend now, huh?” she teased playfully.
Nico chuckled, his eyes filled with affection. With a gentle smile, he pulled away and reached into his suit pocket, retrieving something special from the night - a puck. It was inscribed with the words “Y/N’s first game” in white marker.
“Well, it would be my pleasure if you’d want that promotion,” he replied, his gaze locked onto hers with those captivating brown eyes as he presented her the puck.
Y/N was feeling ecstatic, with a surge of happiness she chuckled with excitement and nodded eagerly. As their eyes met, he grinned and leaned in to give her a tender kiss, sealing the moment with a promise of more to come.

Chapter Six: Of Joy Rides and Hot Tubs
You don’t have class on Thursday so you’re free to wake up when you want. Chan is gone by the time you do, and it’s only 10:00am. He doesn’t have class until late afternoon so your thoughts immediately drift to where he may have gone so early. You would have liked to see him. You wonder, if after last night, he would have smiled at you or shown you any sign that things might be different moving forward.
It’s a silly, fleeting thought. Having sex with him doesn’t change anything. Even though he granted your plea of treating you good, he still kept his boundaries firmly in place after your shower. You were curious if he would allow you to sleep in his bed, naively hopeful about it even as you finished putting on your pajamas. However, when he got situated under his sheets and bid you goodnight, he made it abundantly clear you were not welcome there.
Down in the kitchen and still in your pajamas, you snack on a granola bar as some of the others prepare to leave for classes or wherever they’re going—Seungmin has his baseball bag slung over his shoulder and invites you to come watch him practice later. He’s still on your shit list, though, so you’re not overly thrilled about it…but it’s an option if you have nothing better to do.
The house falls quiet again when all the commotion has ceased and you make your way back up to the second floor, to Hyunjin’s room.
His curtains are drawn, keeping most of the morning light at bay as he sleeps. You walk around to the side of the bed and consider waking him up, cocking your head to the side as you gaze down at him. Even with his blonde hair all over the place, he looks so peaceful and handsome and perfect. His plump lips are pouted in a way that makes him seem absolutely adorable. Sleeping Beauty, who?
Without second guessing it, you slide on the bed next to him.
He peeks open an eye at the movement and smiles lazily when he sees you, causing your heart to flutter.
“Mmmm, she’s back,” he murmurs sleepily as he wraps his arms around you—one under your head and the other around your waist—and pulls you close, nestling his face in your hair.
He throws his leg around yours, holding on to you as if you are his own personal body pillow. Your body relaxes in his embrace and you instantly let out a soft sigh. You are content enough to stay in this position with him all day. His steady breathing lets you know he’s drifted back to sleep so you try your best to be still and not disturb his slumber any further.
Laying on your side, staring ahead at the sight of your empty bed, your mind starts to roam and reflect on the chaos you endured over the past week. Seven days ago you were literally sitting on a curb trying to figure out where you were going to live. And throwing yourself into the SKZ house was a well-timed distraction. You were together with your ex for almost three years, and hadn’t even given yourself time to fully process your break up. Maybe because you knew it was coming…your priorities were no longer aligned, and his eyes had started to wander, his attention and affection wavered. In hindsight, you should have been better prepared for it.
You did love him, though. So the pain of him telling you he thought it’d be best if you lived apart for a while (meaning you getting the fuck out of the apartment), is still brewing inside of you. The anger derived from that pain also makes it easier to cut off your feelings for him. But you hadn’t truly considered being with anyone besides him and now here you are…having fucked one man last night and now in bed with another this morning.
You’d experienced more sexually in three days than you had in the past three years. Dominance, submission, lust, need, desire. You were pushed out of your comfort zone and you liked it. But the most troubling thing for you to wrap your head around is the lack of compassion surrounding these new sexual exploits. You’ve never just fucked someone you weren’t in love with. So how do you detach the actions from the emotions that course through you every time you see Chan?
You can’t deny that you’re attracted to him—that you like the way he teases you, the way he makes you yearn for his touch just by looking at you. Yet, you still don’t understand how you feel about him, or if you should bother feeling anything at all.
Cuddled up to Hyunjin—whom you’ve essentially known the same amount of time as Chan, only further adds to your confusion. Clearly it could all be this simple but Chan seems hellbent on making sure you know he views you as an object, a tool at his disposal. Chan very much still feels like a stranger in all aspects outside of sex, whereas Hyunjin feels like someone you’ve known for a long time. Someone that gets you—that respects you. He’s the only thing of comfort you’ve been able to rely on amidst the raging emotions trying their best to consume you when you’re with Chan.
Hyunjin doesn’t even know how much you need him to just exist right now, and he’d probably think you were crazy if you told him. You place your hand on his arm and bring it from your waist to your chest, he squeezes you closer to him in response, readjusting his body slightly.
With him snuggled against you and these thoughts wreaking havoc on you mentally, the rise and fall of your chest quickens and before you can stop it, tears are streaming down your cheek as the weight of the past week hits you like a Sparta kick to the chest. You try to keep quiet, to wipe your tears before they fall to his arm, but there’s too many and your sniffling gives you away.
Hyunjin stirs and lifts his head up, peeking over your shoulder. When he registers that you’re crying, he slowly blinks his eyes open to really look at you. His hand hugged to your chest moves to your face, turning it towards him. You try to resist, shaking your head, wanting to hide your face in the mattress.
“Y/n,” he says softly, voice still groggy from sleep.
He turns your entire body around so you’re facing him and cups your cheek, wiping your tears away with the pad of his thumb. His attempts are futile—each time he wipes, a new trail is formed.
“Gwenchana?” he says, warm brown eyes searching yours. “You okay?”
You don’t know what he’s said, why he’s said it, or if he’s still half asleep and not realizing he’s speaking Korean but regardless, the gentle, caring concern in his tone fucking breaks you.
A sob escapes from your lips as you squeeze your eyes shut and press your face to his chest. He holds you around the waist with one hand and the other strokes the back of your head.
Even with how good Chan made you feel last night—desired in a way you’d never imagined—you still slept in your bed alone, all the while wanting nothing more than to still be close to him after how much of yourself you’d given to him. To be in his arms the way Hyunjin is holding you now.
You can’t hold it in any longer, and here in this room, you don’t feel like you have to. He just let’s you cry, face against his chest, hands pulling at his shirt. You feel safe here. You want to stay in his protective embrace.
You don’t know how long you spend sobbing against him, but he doesn’t let go of you the entire time. When the sobs and tears finally stop and you regain control of your breathing, he leans back to look at you.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
You chew on your bottom lip and shake your head, unable to meet his gaze.
“Not really,” you say, sniffling and wiping at your eyes. “It’s just been a lot—with the breakup and moving here and Chan and you.”
“Okay,” he replies with a simple nod.
He holds on to you tightly and quickly moves you up and over him so you're now laying on the opposite side of the bed.
“That side is for crying—this side is for happy y/n,” he declares.
You can’t help but laugh at his antics. You look down at his tear stained shirt and pull at the fabric.
“I’m sorry,” you say. “And sorry for waking you up like this.”
“Don’t be,” he assures you. And you believe him with ease. “You’re here for me as much as I’m here for you. In all ways.”
His words are sweet and honestly make you feel like you could start bawling all over again.
“What time is it?” You ask as a distraction, realizing you’ve left your phone in Chan’s room.
“Who cares,” he shrugs.
“Don’t you have class?”
“Who cares,” he repeats. “Want to go do something?”
As much as you’d like to stay here in bed, in his arms, it would also feel nice to be anywhere but inside the house right now.
“Sure,” you say after a moment. “As long as you’re back in time for class.”
“Yeah, yeah, of course, we will be,” he doesn’t sound too convincing this time. He gives you one final squeeze before sitting up. He grabs his phone from the nightstand and checks the time. “We have four hours.”
“What do you have in mind?” You ask, sitting up.
“Nothing at all—I don’t do plans, remember?”
“You’re gonna make me feel a different kind of crazy these next three days,” you joke.
“You’ll learn to love it,” he winks.
You slide out of the bed and find an outfit for the day. You immediately start changing in the room without thinking about it, but Hyunjin hasn’t seen nearly as much of you as Chan has. You peek over your shoulder and see he’s still sitting in bed, watching you with a smile. He pretends he’s been caught, averting his gaze around the room.
“Stop it,” you say with a laugh, pulling your pants up.
“I’m an artist,” he replies, “I have to appreciate good views. Commit them to memory for my work, you know.”
“Well, this isn’t a live model class—get up and get dressed,” you tell him.
“Yes ma’am.”
You pull on your t-shirt, then tell him you’ll be back in a minute. You make your way upstairs, to Chan’s room. You’re not sure if he’s home so you knock lightly on the door. There’s no response. You enter and retrieve your phone, tucking it in your back pocket. You take a moment to makeup your bed since you have no intention of returning to this room at all for the next couple of days. You also grab your backpack and sling it over your shoulder before turning around to leave.
You stop dead in your tracks when you see Chan, standing between the door frame, startling you. You put a hand to your chest to still your beating heart. How long had he been standing there?
When he takes in the sight of you, you catch a brief look of concern on his face—if you had blinked you would have missed it.
“I just came to get my things,” you say softly.
As if you owe him any kind of explanation.
He remains silent as he enters the room, stopping just in front of you. He leans down a little, his eyes raking over your face carefully. It dawns on you then…how you must look. You can feel the tightness and puffiness of your eyes from crying earlier.
For a moment you think he’s going to say something, but he doesn’t. His lips are pressed together tightly as he gives a curt nod and steps to the side, allowing you to walk past.
His silence feels worse than anything he could have said.
—————
“Have you ever driven one of these before?” Hyunjin asks, seated next to you in the passenger seat of the navy blue Tesla.
You shake your head, still in shock he offered to let you drive.
“Go easy on the pedal,” he says, buckling his seatbelt.
You adjust the rearview mirror, groaning at the sight of your puffy eyes in the reflection. Even after gently washing your face and moisturizing, they still looked awful.
Hyunjin opens the glove compartment, revealing several pairs of sunglasses. He shuffles them around, holds a few different pairs up to your face before deciding on one and handing it to you. He picks a pair for himself and puts them on as you do the same.
“Now we’re ready,” he looks over to you and you see his eyebrows wiggle above the frame of the sunglasses.
You’re grinning widely as you reverse from the driveway, feeling happy and optimistic for once. Hyunjin controls the music as you drive, curating a soundtrack for your adventure. Neither of you have any idea where you’re going, which annoys the crap out of you. Hyunjin finds it amusing and starts telling you to take a left here or there. At one point he has you take four rights in a row, effectively sending you in a circle, or square rather. He claps his hands together, laughing as you swat at his arm and thigh in annoyance.
When the song “Broken” by We Are Fury & Luma comes through the speakers, you make him replay it a few times in a row—the two of you sing it together, “Give it away, like I always do. Watch you start to fade, one more heart to lose.” The lyrics hit you in special way today, but Hyunjin matches your energy as you both belt out the next part with your whole chest, “Got that sinking feeling like the bottom of the ocean, I’ve been here before, feeling every damn emotion.”
You drive and sing and talk. You’re almost able to forget about your sad, emotional outburst earlier. Almost.
At one point you stop at a shopping center with a recently opened Halloween store to browse the costumes and pick up a few decorative items for the house. Well, it started as a few anyway. Hyunjin alternates between holding your hand and hugging you from behind as you walk through the aisles. He keeps you entertained with his clumsiness—screaming and knocking into displays when something scares him. Being with him makes you feel like a normal college student just hanging out with their crush—joking, laughing, flirting.
When you make a stop for lunch, you mention Seungmin inviting you to watch him practice and Hyunjin doesn’t mind the idea. You grab enough food for the three of you and head down to campus. You’ve never had a reason to venture to the baseball field before, but it’s quite large and empty aside from the players practicing.
You and Hyunjin take a seat in the bleachers—Seungmin waves when he spots you two. You munch on fries and a burger as you watch them. Seungmin is far more serious on the mound than you’ve ever seen him. He looks like he simply belongs there, on the field and in his uniform, striking out a couple of team mates in a row.
“Shit, I have to get to class,” Hyunjin announces, checking his phone.
You hadn’t realized how much time had passed already.
“Go,” you tell him with a nod. “I’ll catch a ride back with Seungmin or wait around for you.”
“You’ll wait for me?” He asks, batting his eyelashes at you.
“Maybe,” you tease with a playful shrug.
He stands up and starts to walk away from you before suddenly stopping. He turns back around to face you, leans down and places a kiss firmly on your lips. You’re startled at the sudden action, but you don’t shy away from it. You press your lips back against his.
It’s quick and sweet, but a wave of heat rushes through your body all the same.
“See you later,” he says when he steps back.
You continue watching Seungmin for another half an hour until practice ends. He comes to meet you in the bleachers and you offer him the food you had ordered for him.
You push your sunglasses down the bridge of your nose to look at him directly in the eyes, “It may or may not be poisoned.”
“I have a strong immune system,” he retorts, tearing away at the wrapper of the burger and biting into it. “Did you like what you saw?”
“You’re okay,” you say nonchalantly, pushing your sunglasses back up. “When’s the first game?”
“In the spring. You gonna come watch?”
“Only if I can root for the other team,” you reply.
“That’s blasphemy.”
“Serves you right, pineapple boy.”
He lets out a loud laugh at your remark.
“Come on, it was a joke.”
“To you, maybe…Chan didn’t find it so amusing,” you tell him.
“He actually does like pineapple,” he shrugs.
“But not on pizza—you set me up.”
“I did,” he agrees. “It was funny.”
“Again…to you, maybe. And Changbin. I’ll get you back for that.”
“Oooh, I’m so scared,” he says, finishing off the last bite of his burger in record time.
“You should be,” you tell him. “Sleep with your eyes open Kim Seungmin.”
“I always do.”
You roll your eyes. His sarcastic ass has a comeback for everything.
You sit and talk on the bleachers a little while longer until Seungmin is ready to head back to the house. He walks you to the building where Hyunjin’s class is before taking off. You sit outside the building and wait, scrolling through your phone for a lack of anything better to do. When you look up and see Hyunjin finally walking out, he’s beaming when he spots you on the bench.
You stand to greet him, only just now realizing he went to class empty handed—no backpack, no notebook or pen, nothing. You could never imagine doing such a thing but for Hyunjin, it just seems fitting.
By the time you get back home, the house is abuzz per usual for this time of night. You and Hyunjin take in the decorations from the Halloween store and get to work putting some of them up with a few others as dinner is prepared.
Everyone throws around ideas for the upcoming Halloween party, and it starts to sound more intense than you could have imagined. It seems like they plan to go all out with kegs, catering, costume contests and more.
After dinner you lounge in the living room, seated around the coffee table with nearly everyone except Chan, Rhiannon, Changbin and Lee Know, playing Uno. Rhiannon and Changbin had excused themselves after making suggestive faces at each other the entire meal. The game causes a lot of commotion and outbursts but honestly it’s the most fun you’ve had in the house as a group yet.
Felix claims to make the house rules, saying you can put a Draw 2 on a Draw 2, which is purely evil as he makes you Draw 12 cards at one point with a devilish grin on his face.
By 8:30pm, Hyunjin is dragging you back upstairs to his room wanting to watch the next episode of the show you started Sunday, saying he’s been waiting forever to see what happens.
You both climb into his bed, laptop in front of you and leaned together as you watch episode two. You’re at ease next to him. You readjust yourselves halfway through watching to get more comfortable, sitting with your backs against the pillows and the laptop resting on your left and his right thigh. He wraps an arm around you and you lean against him. You’re able to get in two episodes before calling it quits for the night.
“You know I can sleep in my own bed if you don’t want me with you,” you say to him as you’re putting your dirty clothes in the laundry and make a note to do some washing over the weekend.
“Why wouldn’t I?”
You shrug in response, as if you don’t know the reason you’re saying it involves the man on the next floor up.
“In case you want your space or something.”
“No,” he replies cooly. “I get my space when you’re with Chan.”
He pulls back the bedsheets (specifically on the right, your happy side) and looks pointedly down at them then back up to you. You can’t stop the smile that creeps on to your face as you climb in bed next to him.
“Fair warning I have to be up for an early class tomorrow.”
“Ew,” he says pulling you towards him and you can just picture the look of disgust he’s bearing.
You turn around to face him, tucking your head in the crook of his neck.
“Thank you for this morning,” you tell him.
“You’ll adjust,” he says. “But I know it’s hard.”
“Did you want to…” you ask, trailing off in the same way you did with Chan but you’re not nearly half as nervous. You can’t let yourself lose sight of the reason you’re in this house.
“We don’t have to rush, okay?” he replies.
You nod.
“You are emotional right now,” he continues, “I can see that. I know this can be a lot to handle in the beginning so I won’t pile more on top of what you're already feeling.”
“I think I can handle it…” you speak up.
“I want you to know you can handle it, y/n.”
You bite your bottom lip as you look at him. His words don’t feel like a rejection, they’re coming from a place that’s putting you first. He’s right. And you know it.
“Can I kiss you?” You ask timidly.
He grabs on to you like he did this morning and pulls you up and over so you’re laying on top of him. You sit up, straddling his waist, and run your hands through his soft, blonde hair before leaning down and pressing your lips to his. You want to communicate just how much spending today with him meant to you.
The kiss starts with slow, long presses of your lips together but soon evolves into more. You part your mouth, and he captures your bottom lip between his, sucking on it gently. His hands roam across your back as you kiss him again, snaking your tongue inside his mouth while your hips grind against him.
He turns his head to the side, letting out a breath as he breaks the kiss. You look down at him with uncertain eyes.
“Don’t think I don’t want you…because I do.” He moves his hips against you and you can feel his hardening cock press against you. “But let’s do this right.”
You realize how easily you could try to push it further, but he seems adamant about wanting you to be in a good headspace. Which, truthfully, makes you want him even more. As if he can heal the part of you that’s been wounded by fucking you.
“We can still kiss though, right?”
He responds by cupping the back of your neck and bringing your lips to his again.
The strict make out session has you feeling like a teenager again—hesitant to move to second base. He stills your hips and grunts each time you grind against him, causing you to giggle. The roles in this room are much different as you get to be the teaser for once.
—————
On Saturday it’s decided to make use of the pool and hot tub before the weather gets too cold. Changbin and Chan man the grill as everyone else is in the heated pool either swimming or lounging on the large floaties. You’re left feeling a little in awe, as you have never seen so much of all the members—the girls in their bathing suits and the guys in their swim trunks. They boys are all varying degrees of physical fitness—some have abs, some don’t, some have defined, muscular arms, some don’t. But the sight of each them makes you lick your lips and force yourself to look away.
When you make your way out of the house, carrying a pan of meat to Chan and Changbin, you feel Chan’s eyes on you. He doesn’t try to hide it either, looking you over in your swimsuit. It’s modest, to some degree—a dark green bikini top with white and yellow flowers and matching shorts for the bottoms. His eyes dip to your cleavage, then back up to your eyes. At least you’re not the only one fighting these urges to keep your gaze up. You really wish you’d brought out a pair of sunglasses to hide your gawking.
He hasn’t said a word to you since that night. You don’t want to give him the satisfaction of acknowledging his look. You’re emboldened by the closeness you’ve felt with Hyunjin the last few days. You know that on Sunday, too, when it’s your day to choose—you’ll stay with Hyunjin again.
You push the thoughts of the Monday fast approaching with him aside as you get in the pool to join the others. Hyunjin holds his hand out to you as you descend the steps, pulling you to him once you’re in the water. You wrap your arms around his neck and legs around his waist as he carries you effortlessly through the water, towards the deep end.
He stops against the side of the pool and you lean back to rest against it, hips thrust forward to his. Partially of your own doing, but also because of the water. He doesn’t seem to mind either way. He’s been rather receptive of your sly advances. You find it exciting, how both of you are able to tease each other knowing it’s building up to something more without any sort of timeline or demand.
You grin up at him, letting your arms fall from around his neck down to his chest. You are assigned to him and feel free to stare and touch him as you please. You run your hands down past his lightly defined pectorals, over his nipples (which makes him giggle), then down to his abs. They may not be as toned as Chan’s, but they feel satisfying beneath your fingertips either way.
Hyunjin leans down to kiss you but before his lips meet yours, a wave of water hits you, soaking both of your heads. You both turn to find the culprit—Lee Know. He’s grinning as he flicks more water at you. You push away from Hyunjin and head towards him.
Hyunjin grabs you by the waist, pulling you back.
“Relax,” he says into your ear. “He can’t swim.”
“Good,” you mutter. “I can drown him easier.”
Hyunjin laughs at your remark.
“And then what?” He asks. “You go to jail and you’re kept from me?”
You pout your lips and look up at him.
“But if would feel so cathartic.”
“I agree with you. Everyone’s contemplated drowning Minho at some point,” he tells you.
When the meat is cooked, everyone exits the pool to eat. Chan sits directly across from you and Hyunjin, leaning back in his chair, all nonchalant and unbothered. When you’re with Hyunjin, who’s treating you so well, you’re able to mostly keep your disturbing thoughts of Chan at bay. You wish you could say you hadn’t thought of him at all, hadn’t thought of what he’s doing up in his room when you aren’t there. Does he touch himself? Does he think of you when he does it?
“I call dibs on being the DJ,” Felix announces when the conversation turns to the Halloween party once again.
“If you’re just putting together a playlist, you’re not a DJ,” Seungmin corrects him.
“Don’t over do it with Halloween songs,” Jeongin speaks up, looking pointedly at Han.
“You have to set the mood,” Han defends himself, cheeks stuffed with food.
“No one wants to hear Thriller 10 times in one night,” Jeongin says.
“You don’t know that,” Han mumbles with a shrug.
You ladies are put in charge of getting the virtual invites out, completing the decorations and organizing the catering and keg deliveries.
You push your plate away from you and look at Chan. You notice he’s always so quiet when he’s with the group. For being the leader he doesn’t speak up that often. Maybe he’s content letting them squabble over the smaller details and getting the final say.
After everyone is fed and has put the subject of the party to rest, Hyunjin takes your hand and leads you towards the hot tub where Changbin, Lee Know, Rhiannon, Allie and Seungmin are already inside. You sit next to Hyunjin and relax in the warmth, leaning your head against the outer rim with your eyes closed. There’s a jet at work on your back and the repeated pressure feels good.
Chan and Felix enter the hot tub next. It’s not that big, but everyone moves over to make room. Hyunjin pulls you onto his lap and Chan sits right next to him. Jeongin and Charlotte show up next with shots for everyone. You toss yours back with a grimace—it makes you feel even hotter.
You lean back against Hyunjin and fight the urge to look over at Chan. It shouldn’t feel so awkward. Directly across from you is a prime example. Charlotte is seated on Jeongin’s lap sideways, legs draped over Han and they’re all engaged in conversation with each other.
You chew on your lip and let out a low breath. Maybe you’re the one making it more awkward than it needs to be, letting your confusing feelings about Chan get in the way of something that should be easy. You’ve been living like he doesn’t exist the past couple of days—you can’t keep that up. You don’t want to be the one to ruin the vibe of the house.
You turn to face Chan as Hyunjin rests his arms on the rim of the hot tub, talking to Lee Know on his other side.
“Got any ideas for your costume?” You ask him.
“Not yet…why? You wanna play dress up with me?” He arches an eyebrow and smiles.
You’re caught off guard at his response—both the words and the disarming smile he bears. The bottle of alcohol is passed around again, saving you a response as you fill up your shot glass.
Chan holds his glass out to you and you cheers him before taking the shot.
“You seem better,” he says, placing his glass on the ground outside the hot tub.
It’s the first time he’s acknowledged it.
You feel a hand on your left thigh and tense up for a second. Hyunjin’s arms are still behind you. Chan’s lips are turned up at the side, watching you panic.
With the jets going you can’t see anything beneath the water, but you know it’s him.
“Hyunjin has been great,” you tell him.
“I know,” he replies with an understanding nod, meanwhile his hand has started sliding up and down your thigh. “I’m glad.”
You want to ask him how he knows and why would he be glad about it, but your conversation is interrupted.
“You guys talking about me over here?” Hyunjin leans over to his left side where you and Chan are.
Chan grins and you feel like you’re about to be caught doing something you shouldn’t. His hand doesn’t stop caressing your thigh.
“Only good things,” you reply, turning your head to look at him.
Hyunjin places a quick peck on your cheek and returns to his conversation with Lee Know.
You drop your gaze down to the water feeling happy, embarrassed and confused.
Chan’s hand slides further up your thigh and moves between your legs. With his other hand above the water, he uses a finger to tilt your head back up so you’re looking at him. You don’t know what to say.
“No?” He asks quietly.
You nod your head slowly, spreading your legs just a little further apart.
How could he do this so quickly? He gave you a mere centimeter of attention and now you’re back right where he wants you. This physical touch, though, is the most he’s shown you in front of the others.
Changbin says something to Chan then, so he turns to speak to him but continues rubbing you over your swim shorts. Your hips move against his fingers.
Hyunjin instinctively wraps one arm around your waist to keep you still as he had been doing the past couple of days. His hand bumps Chan’s in the process and he redirects his attention back to you two.
Your pulse increases as you anticipate his reaction.
He fucking chuckles.
With your hair up in a messy bun, Hyunjin has easy access to the back of your neck. He kisses it lightly as he holds you closer to him and Chan resumes his hand movements. Your eyes flutter shut as your brain is on the fritz, trying to process exactly what the fuck is happening right now.
“It’s too hot in here,” Allie blurts out.
To which everyone but you laughs. You’re goddamn right it’s hot in here, but for you it’s due to an entirely different reason.
“I’m getting back in the pool,” she says and stands from the water.
“I’ll come with you,” you say, taking her distraction as a saving grace to get you out the hot tub before these two men send you to a room with padded walls.
You push Chan’s hand away and Hyunjin let’s go of you as you stand.
Allie walks to the steps of the pool but you dive right in. The cold water against your skin shocks your senses, making you feel alert and awake, helping bring you down from whatever Hyunjin and Chan were trying to work you up to.
You take your time, swimming to the opposite end of the pool before resurfacing. You let out a deep breath and wipe the water away from you face. You don’t know how to describe what you had just felt—both of them touching you at once. You’ve never felt that before…but holy fuck do you want to experience it to completion now.

[Apparently, all it takes for a doomed man to feel hope again is bad flirting and corny jokes. Or maybe it's about the comforting presence of someone he loves?]
Enjoying my work? You can leave me a tip on Ko-Fi | Have a request?
Whether Gale wants it or not, he's a quite predictable person. His reliability seems to extend far enough for you to always be able to correctly guess where he might be when the wizard is not near his tent. Although his tendency for routines might be mistaken for something dull, you've always thought of it as somewhat comforting - that among all the chaos that your life has become, there's a sense of regularity; the comfort of knowing how to navigate certain situations.
Just as you knew he would, Gale is sitting by the riverside. His back is slouched as he mindlessly reaches to grab a blade of grass, tear it off, and let his fingers play with it. Brown eyes would be intently staring at the flowing stream if their owner wasn't so lost in thought.
He hears you coming, dry leaves crumble under your feet but he makes no effort to look over his shoulder. Maybe you're actually a wild raccoon that will finally put him out of his misery... On second thought, that is a rather pathetic end for a wizard as great as him. To die by a raccoon. Ha!
"Hey handsome, come here often?" you ask as you sit down next to him.
Gale's robes once smelled of musty books and seawater but during your travels, they have lost their original fragrance in favour of a fresh aroma of pine needles, campfire smoke and herbal medicine. It gave him an "edge", if such a word could coexist with the wizard's homebody way of life.
"Only when I wish to wallow in pity," he answers. Although it's fleeting, almost secretive, you do notice the glance he gives you.
You raise an eyebrow at his response. "And that's often?"
A sad chuckle rumbles in his chest. Gale looks down at his fingers, for the very first time studying what his hands do with the long blades of grass. "A lot more than I'd like to admit." He actually bothers to make himself sound light-hearted but the dread eating him up has already soaked into his words.
You put your elbow on your knee and rest your chin on top of your hand. The new angle allows you to see more of his face, not that it changes your impression. Something's eating him up. "Is this what pretty wizards frequently engage in? I think I ought to update my schedule."
He looks almost like a painting, you think. The one a cleric would put up at the temple, a depiction of martyrhood in the name of something greater. Normally, you'd shrug at the thought of some poor sod thinking that making themself suffer will somehow please their god. It sounds like a questionable freedom of choice at best. But in Gale's case, you can't just shrug. Not anymore. Not since the two of you made it very obvious there's nothing platonic going on.
"I think you'll find that a moping wizard is hardly treasured company."
"Then maybe I should help him stop moping." Playfully, you bump your shoulder into his.
A sad smile graces his face. His brown eyes give you a quick glance again. Gale just can't help his longing. "As much as I appreciate the thought and the effort," he tries to sound unbothered, "my troubles already take up enough of your time. The others might want to have a word with you too."
Not a thing about Gale's statement surprises you. He's always wearing a facade of "Don't worry about little old me" but having gotten closer to the man, you know he's far from that - he wants someone to worry, only doesn't have the pride to ask for that. Part of him probably thinks he ought to earn the right to take up the space in someone's mind. How silly.
Gale's eyes return to you when he sees your fingers sneaking between his hands and a blade of grass he was playing with. No matter what he might say and how laid back he attempts to appear, all of his half-hearted bluffs dissipate when he forms a tight grip around your fingers.
"And I want to have a few words with you," you tell him in round terms. "Well, I want to have many things with you but I guess I can settle for a good old-fashioned conversation."
"I, erm..." he hangs his voice at your allusion. The blush on his cheeks is barely visible in the darkness of the night but you can tell it's there - his whole body is suddenly on fire. Gale clears his throat. "Enlighten me, then! What sort of lexicon do you wish to bestow upon me?"
You can't help the whole-hearted chuckle that leaves your lips. "You're really adorable when you talk all sophisticated." Gale laughs nervously at the compliment and he's just about to say something back but before he gets the chance, you reveal the truth about your arrival. "On a more serious note, I didn't have any endgame plan. I just thought that I'm going to ask you what's on your mind and no matter what you answer, I'm going to bless you with my presence until one of us falls asleep."
For the first time this evening, Gale's eyes linger on you for a long while. Although his initial embarrassment at your boldness is now gone, a sense of nervousness lingers. But do not misunderstand - it's a welcome kind of tension; the anxiety of holding something dear and fearing breaking it. "I'd very much like that," he answers. A small smile of genuine happiness curves his lips.
Gale momentarily tenses up when you lay your head on his shoulder. Then, as though paradoxically a weight has been lifted from his back, he finds himself sighing.
Strangely enough, he feels... calm. Too caught up in his thoughts of impending doom and past failures, Gale has been oblivious to the good things in his life. Especially in the present. He tries to grasp at the fleeting thoughts he had been pitifully entertaining for the past hour or so but they escape his focus. Now that each of his breathes is filled with the smell of campfire smoke and fragrant oils that stuck to your skin, the doom that had been haunting him before dissipates like storm clouds blown away by the wind. Part of him wants to laugh - the morbid scenarios that once rendered him sleepless seem so trivial now. Gale was dealt a bloody difficult hand, yes, but that doesn't mean it's impossible to play it, does it?
He's known hope for a long time but only now does he see her. And what a wonder it is that she's wearing your face.

Quiet Moments of Intimacy - Levi Ackerman shows affection.
Levi Ackerman sits at his desk surrounded by stacks of paperwork that demand his attention. The room is dimly lit adding an air of ambiance to the space. As he scribbles down notes you sit close to him in a high back chair engrossed in a book. Though you are engaged in individual tasks your mere presence together brings a sense of comfort and tranquility to the room.
Levi steals glances at you from time to time, taking in your relaxed posture and the way your eyes dance across the pages. There is a sense of calm and contentment that washes over him whenever you are near. He admires your intelligence, your dedication, and the way you carry yourself with a quiet confidence.
After a while Levi puts his pen down, the need for a break becoming undeniable. He leans back in his chair, subtly adjusting his position to face you. With you engrossed in your book he knows he has a moment to steal, a moment of quiet intimacy that could pass unnoticed by the outside world. Without interrupting your reading Levi slowly and unobtrusively reaches out, his fingers briefly grazing over your hand that rests on the armrest. It is a gentle touch, a fleeting contact that conveys his affection without breaking your concentration.
The touch lasts just a second but it carries his presence, his desire to be near, and his appreciation for your company. It is a silent reminder of the connection you share, a subtle way of saying, "I'm here with you."
You look up from your book with a soft smile dancing on your lips as your gaze meets his. Even in the silence your connection is palpable. There is an unspoken understanding between you, an exchange of affection that needed no words. In that exchange, a multitude of emotions pass between you. Love, trust, and the comfort of knowing you could be yourselves in each other's presence.
Levi returns to his paperwork, the touch lingering in his mind even as he delves back into the monotonous task at hand. But his heart feels warmer, his focus sharpened, knowing that just a brief touch has brought you closer together in your own little world. You don’t need grand declarations, to utter a single word, or show extravagant gestures to validate your bond. In that quiet moment you both find relief within the chaos of your lives. You sit together companionably absorbed in your respective tasks finding solace in the knowledge that even in the most mundane of moments, your love and understanding thrive.

Summary: reader moves to LA for work and becomes the sturniolos editor, but what happens when she falls for someone unexplected…
Warnings: mentions of drinking/drugs, swearing, smoking, suggestive?
・₊✧⋆⭒˚。⋆
It's been a few days since I last set foot in the Sturniolo's house, still haunted by memories of Chris's party. I left his text on opened, unwilling to complicate things or face the reality of what might have transpired - a fleeting moment that lingered in my thoughts. As I scrolled through the comments on their latest video, relief washed over me with the positive feedback on the editing.
Now, here I am, standing outside their house after Nick's call to pick up footage for their upcoming video. I knock on the door and take a step back, idly kicking at small stones on the ground. The door opens after a moment, and the sight before me alone had me drenched - Chris, wet hair, a snug white tee, a chain dangling, grey sweats revealing a hint of his black Calvin Klein boxers at the waistband. He wordlessly holds the door open, allowing me to enter before closing it behind me, the tension so thick it could be cut with a knife.
Ascending the stairs, he practically screams, "NICCKKK, Y/NS HEREE" My face scrunches in response. Chris heads to the kitchen, nonchalantly devouring snacks from the pantry fist first. Classy. The atmosphere remains charged with unspoken words.
Summoning my courage, I decide to address the elephant in the room. "Chris, about the other night," I say tentatively, nervously biting at my cuticles. He turns to meet my gaze, chuckling before shutting the pantry door with a box of Lucky Charms in hand. "Dude, just pretend that shit never happened. I was faded as fuck," he laughs, continuing to chew. ‘Dude’, nice.
My attention shifts as Nick descends the stairs, smiling at me. He steps into the living area and looks at Chris, "You can go. Be gross somewhere else, thank you," waving him off. Chris just sticks his tongue out before walking to his room, my eyes trailing after him. "So we did our vlog, and oh my god, you should have seen Matt. He ate a fucking habanero pepper," Nick laughs, and I subconsciously nod, eyes still fixed on Chris. He looks at me for a fleeting second, holding eye contact before disappearing upstairs. I shoot Nick a smile, exhaling a laugh through my nose.
After some more small talk, Nick hands me the SD card, and we decide to grab some food with Matt. Seated in the passenger seat, Nick in the back, we parked after grabbing our food. I was about to take a bite of my burger when my phone rang, interrupting the moment. Sighing, I put my food down, reaching for my phone in my pocket. It was Laura. "Hiya," I answered. "Hey Y/N, I'm in a bit of a rush, but just a reminder, you've got that fresh love shoot tomorrow at 11," she blurted out. My brows furrowed in confusion, "I do?" "Yeah, Chris told me you agreed to it." That little shit. "Oh, yeah, I'll be there," I replied, pinching my nose in stress. We hung up, and I groaned; between editing a video, a last-minute photoshoot, and the chaos, time seemed to slip away. I grabbed my burger, taking a big, stress-relieving bite.
˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
After an entire night of editing, I had to gear up for this shoot. With everything packed and ready, I booked an Uber to the warehouse. Arriving, I spotted around five models, two assistants setting up a white backdrop, and there, on the couch, was Chris himself. He lounged in a Nike tracksuit, sporting sunglasses and a toothpick in his mouth. Who the fuck did he think he was? I sighed, dropping my bag on the floor, and made my way to the snack area for a can of Pepsi.
As I reached for the drink, a hand landed on my shoulder. I turned to face one of the assistants, “Hi hun, shouldn’t you be in the back getting dressed?” she sweetly inquired. Confused, I realized she mistook me for a model. “Oh no I’m not-““she’s not a model” Chris cut me off, appearing behind me, I shot him a death glare. "Shouldn't you be getting changed?" I quipped. He chuckled, "You calling me pretty?" he teased. I rolled my eyes, replying, "No, just knowing you, you'd want to be the centre of attention.”
He took off his glasses, and in a smug move, removed his shirt, revealing more than I bargained for. My eyes trailed up reluctantly, form his v-line and happy trail, only to meet his cocky gaze and messed-up hair. "Chris, what are you-" "Since you're so concerned with my outfit," he started, grabbing a fresh love hoodie and slipping it on, "I'm getting changed." He raised his eyebrows, running a hand through his hair in an attempt to fix it. I scoffed and walked off, back to my bag.
Finally, the photoshoot commenced. I followed Chris's directions, and truth be told, the shots looked incredible. I couldn't help but bite my lip as I admired Chris modelling. He approached, leaning over my shoulder to view the final pics on the screen. "Yeah, that's fire," he murmured, briefly squeezing my shoulder before returning to the snacks. I smiled to myself, but my mood took a downturn when I noticed Chris whispering into a model's ear, her hand on his chest. Disheartened, I put my camera back in my bag and walked to the front door, pushing it open and leaning against the railing.
"Y/N, he doesn't even like you. What is your problem?" I scolded myself. I reached into the pocket of my jacket and pulled out a pack of Camel Lights, a new one I bought before deciding to quit. Despite my recent success, stress led me to light one up. I took a drag, noticing my lip stain on the end as I exhaled. The door creaked open, and there he was again - Chris. Seriously? I wiped my eyes quickly before turning around. "Do you not care about your lungs?" he smugly remarked, standing next to me and leaning back against the railing. My eyes remained fixed on the LA skyline. "Yeah, let me know how your kidneys are in 10 years," I replied, taking another drag. He chuckled slightly before speaking up. "Toosh." I squinted my eyes at him. "Do you mean 'touché'?" I retorted. A brief silence followed before he grinned and repeated, "Touché." I couldn't help but laugh - not with him, but at him.
"Matt's picking me up if you want a lift; you look hella tired," he added. I shot him a look. Thanks. "Yeah, whatever," I mumbled, putting out the cigarette against the rusty metal railing and flicking it into the distance. Without a word, I walked back inside, gathering my equipment again. I couldn't read him - was this his attempt at being nice right after flirting with half the set? He was a prick, but did I even like him? No. Was he cute? Unfortunately, yes. As much as I hated to admit it, I saw a glimpse of an actual tolerable side when he helped me after I got hurt, and I missed it - I missed something that barely existed.
˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
The car ride back was silent, with Matt occasionally asking me a question here and there, to which I responded with a nonchalant "mhm" or "mm mm." I felt bad for seeming like a bitch to Matt, but I was utterly drained. Nick called Matt post-drive, asking if I wanted to sleep over. Despite yearning for my bed and a good scream-into-a-pillow session, I couldn't bring myself to say no.
Saying yes turned out to be a good decision. Matt, Nick, and I had a great time playing Mario Party on the TV, watching a movie, and making snacks. Eventually, I decided to crash on the sofa, relishing the comfort of having my own space. At 3 am, however, sleep eluded me, and the distant sounds of cars and crickets filled the quiet night.
The door opened, and I glanced up to see Matt rubbing his eyes, smiling to me as he headed to his bathroom, shutting the door behind him. Another set of steps approached, and I looked up again. Lo and behold, it was Christopher Sturniolo. He glanced at me, and then looked away. I turned over, burying my head into the corner of the couch, attempting to find a comfortable position. However, Chris seemed determined to disrupt the peace, loudly opening and slamming the fridge door, and then cracking open a can of what I assumed was Pepsi. I shot him a glare, silently conveying, "Shut the fuck up."
When I looked up, I found him standing close to the sofa, a beer in hand. I mumbled and buried my head in the pillows once again. Suddenly, I felt him ruffle my hair with his hand. "What's with the attitude, sweetheart? “He cooed at me. Shit. I sat up, propping my elbows on the arm of the couch and leaning forward. "Because some people are trying to sleep," I hissed at him. He smirked, his eyes scanning my body. "Is that my shirt?" he asked. I looked down at the graphic tee Nick had given me to sleep in. "No, Nick gave me it," I replied, holding eye contact with him. "Well, it's mine," he retorted, placing his hands at the edge of the couch's arm, leaning in.
"Problem?" I cocked my head at him. He was so close; I could feel his hot breath fanning over my face, sending chills down my body. He shrugged slightly. "Suits you," he replied, moving a hand down to adjust some of my hair over my shoulder, his eyes reading the graphic details of the shirt. He licked his lips, leaning in slightly. Was he drunk? No, I would have seen him come up to grab more drinks. Unable to resist, I leaned in too, our lips now brushing against each other. His eyes fixed on my lips as he moved, mere millimetres away from me, and our lips finally met.
The kiss was hungry, full of passion, and I reluctantly admitted to myself that he was a good kisser - of course he was, he'd definitely been around. His lips tasted like beer as he sighed against my lips. My stomach did flips, and I felt myself growing hotter. Suddenly, the sound of a flushing toilet jolted us apart, wide-eyed. "Shit, Matt," I whisper- yelled, pushing Chris away. The door opened, and Matt, still in a sleepy state, looked at us confused. "Dude, wash your hands," Chris pointed at him with his beer. "Get off my dick," Matt murmured back, walking back into his room. That was too close. Chris took a swig of his beer, moving his hand to my cheek and soothingly rubbing my cheek with his thumb. Maybe he actually was a sweet person deep down. "In a bit," he said, patting my cheek before heading back to his room. Never-fucking-mind.

it's April 1st
you know what that means
April Fools' At SOLDIER
ANGEAL: He leaves a baking tray with tinfoil over it in the break room and writing "Brownies" on it. Sephiroth was the first to excitedly uncover it only to find dozens of brown letter E's inside. He stood over the baking dish, staring into it for an hour. *Zack walks by the break room and sees this* Zack: You okay buddy? Sephiroth: Existence is of little value and our happiest moments are but fleeting shadows that veil us from the true, cold nature of reality. Zack: I'll go get the tranquilizer gun.
ZACK: He got Sephiroth, Genesis, Angeal, Kunsel, Cloud and other SOLDIERs to sneak into Lazard's office while he's in there having a nap. They all dressed in funeral attire and organized candles and flowers around him. When Lazard woke up, Genesis was reading his eulogy while the rest of them cried hysterically and pretended Lazard was dead. Zack, sobbing: HOW COULD HE LEAVE US SO SOON?? Angeal, sobbing: HE WAS SO YOUNG! Sephiroth, shedding an elegant tear: I will miss him dearly. Lazard: Ah, I've seen to have died. I wonder if I'll go to heaven or hell. Genesis: In his honor, I will now be doing a dramatic reading of Loveless, the two hour version. Lazard: I'm in hell.
SEPHIROTH: Asides from the greatest prank he's ever pulled, Sephiroth got everyone to agree on pretending Genesis was invisible for a few hours. He ignored his petty provocations and remained poker faced when Genesis began screaming on his ear. The cherry on top of the cake came when Sephiroth started reciting Loveless only to be met with a round of applause and praise. Zack: Wow! Genesis could never quote it like that! *Genesis has a nervous breakdown and starts eating his own book*
GENESIS: He's big on shock factor, so for his heart attack prank, Genesis decides to frame a fake marriage certificate in his office and wait for chaos to unfold. *Sephiroth and Angeal notice* Angeal: You're married to CLOUD STRIFE? Sephiroth: SINCE WHEN? Genesis: Since this morning! *Cloud comes in* Sephiroth: HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND? Cloud: There's tax benefits, he has health insurance, and he's rich. Why wouldn't I accept his proposal? Angeal: This is insane. I refuse to believe this is real. Genesis: Oh it's very real. Here, let me show you our honeymoon pictures in Costa Del Sol. *Sephiroth violently passes out*

transition — jeremy gilbert x reader
Tumblr media
☄. *. ⋆
content warnings and genre: swearing, crying, blood, vampire!reader, hunter!jeremy — hurt/comfort
˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚
synopsis: after getting bit by a salvatore brother, you go to the only place you can find comfort, and jeremy's forced to make a choice
✧.*
the night air was thick with tension as you stumbled down the tenebrous road, clutching your bleeding arm and gasping for air. the memory of damon's piercing gaze and the searing pain of his bite was still fresh, sending waves of agony through your veins with every faltering step. the stars above seemed to mock your suffering, their distant glimmers indifferent to the torment that had befallen you.
“i need to eat, (y/n), you know that,” his voice remained steady as he stood behind you, hand wrapped around your throat as he tilted your head to the side, giving him all the leverage he needed. he tried to ignore the way you clawed desperately at his wrist, the way your sobs made his chest feel heavy. “think of it as a gift, sunshine.”
you knew the risks, as did he—he ignored the way his vampiric venom clashed with your fresh would. you screamed, despite his rough hand clasped over your mouth, muffling the sounds. “i do hope you'll forgive me, (y/n).”
each heartbeat throbbed like a war drum in your ears, a relentless reminder of your fragile mortality. tears welled up, blurring your vision as you staggered, the world spinning around you. the darkness pressed in from all sides, suffocating, as you desperately clung to consciousness.
the familiar silhouette of the gilbert house emerged through the haze of your pain. It stood like a beacon of solace, a place where you had always found refuge. your heart raced as you stumbled up the steps, your fingers fumbling for the doorknob. it was almost impossible to get there—you were sobbing as you crawled, back hunched as the blood continued to pour down your neck. it was truly more than you had bargained for. the door swung open, revealing the dimly lit interior, a sanctuary from the horrors that haunted you.
your trembling legs carried you through the threshold, and the door creaked shut behind you. the scent of old books and wood polish enveloped you, a comforting embrace that momentarily eased the anguish in your body. but the solace was fleeting, replaced by the harsh reality of your condition.
a sob tore from your lips as you sank to the floor, the pain becoming too much to bear. the wooden panels were cold against your feverish skin, the contrast jarring and yet oddly grounding. the room seemed to sway, the edges blurring as your vision wavered between darkness and light.
“hello? is someone there?” jeremy's voice echoed through the house, slicing through the haze of your agony. your heart skipped a beat as his figure appeared in the doorway, his eyes widening in shock at the sight before him. his gaze locked onto yours, concern and confusion warring in his expression.
“(y/n)? what happened?” he rushed to your side, his hands hovering uncertainly over your trembling form. the proximity of his touch sent shivers down your spine, a stark reminder of the vulnerability you felt. “it was damon, i swear i didn't want this,” your voice wavered, the words escaping in broken fragments as you struggled to convey the horror of the encounter. jeremy's jaw clenched, his fists tightening as understanding dawned upon him. the gash on your neck continued to bleed profusely, the skin around it beginning to bruise heavily. jeremy felt his heart in his stomach for a second—he had expected absolutely everything, just not this.
“stay here,” he commanded, his voice laced with determination as he disappeared from your sight. moments later, he returned with a first aid kit, his hands surprisingly steady as he tended to your wound. the sensation of his touch was both gentle and grounding, a lifeline amidst the chaos. his fingers worked carefully, cleaning up the blood that sought no end, his gentle touch balancing out the stinging pain. he cleaned the wound carefully, but he had no way to get the venom out—unable to ease the pain that began to stir within you.
as the pain began to ebb, just a bit, your tears subsided, leaving behind a hollow ache. you gazed up at keremy, your eyes searching his for answers, for a way out of this nightmare. his brows furrowed, a conflicted expression marring his features.
“you know i have a choice to make here,” jeremy admitted, his voice barely above a whisper, his tone gentle. he sat beside you, holding your shaky hand as he watched you, heart churning at the sight of you crying. quiet sobs wracked your body as you trembled, seeking solace in his touch. he pulled you in closer, arms wrapped around you trembling body as he buried his face in your hair. “you shouldn't have come here, (y/n). you know what my job is.”
the weight of his words hung heavy in the air, a stark reminder of the crossroads that had been thrust upon him. your heart ached at the torment he faced, torn between his duty and his emotions. the room seemed to shrink around you, the walls closing in as your breaths grew ragged. quiet apologies left your mouth as you held onto him just a little bit tighter. yes, jeremy cared for you in ways you could never imagine, but he also cared for the duties that were so clearly laid out for him.
“jeremy, please,” you begged, your voice raw with desperation. the pain had reached a new height, your wound beginning to flow freely once more. tears spilled down your cheeks as you held onto him, salty liquid staining his white shirt. “i can't go on like this. if there's no other way, just kill me.”
his gaze bore into yours, a maelstrom of emotions swirling within. you sobbed quietly, the pit of your stomach churning from the hunger you were feeling. it clashed with the pain altogether, the sensitivity—as if you'd gone days without a bite to eat. and then, with a decision as painful as it was selfless, he shook his head. "no, i won't let you go like that." he hesitated for a moment before extending his wrist toward you. “if you're willing, take my blood. it might give you another option.”
your heart raced at the proposition, your mind a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts. but in his eyes, you found a glimmer of hope, a lifeline you couldn't ignore. with trembling hands, you grasped his shirt, frail fingers pulling yourself off to lock eyes with him. he stared at you with pity in his gaze, a soft smile on his face as he stroked your cheek with his thumb. “i couldn't kill you if i wanted to,” he admitted, voice soft and gentle like you were used to. he cupped your cheeks, leaning in to place a kiss to your forehead. “we're gonna fix this, okay? you have to feed off me.”
as the world around you blurred, jeremy's presence remained steadfast, a guiding light in the darkness. you nodded, but you hesitated. he encouraged you, seating you on his lap to bring you in closer, exposing his neck, showing the same place damon had attacked you. you were careful, body shaking, the only source of comfort being the way his hands held your waist, pressing your chest into his to calm you down. when you bit him, no matter how much you wanted to satisfy your hunger, you were careful. the way he touched you gave you all the control in the world and when you finally sank you fangs into his skin, relishing in the metallic taste as his grip tightened, the pain began to recede, replaced by a strange euphoria that seemed to wash over you in waves. the transition was a tumultuous symphony of sensations, a metamorphosis that reshaped your very essence.
qnd through it all, jeremy was there, his gaze unwavering, his touch a steady anchor. “that's a good girl, just like that,” he shushed you, stroking your hair as his grip on your eaist had begun loosening. as you emerged from the chrysalis of transformation, weak but alive, you found yourself gazing into his eyes once more. the depth of emotion within them was undeniable, a testament to the bond that had been forged amidst the trials.
“i'm so sorry,” you whispered, your hinger temporarily satisfied. he shook his head, a soft smile on his face as he brought you in for a warm hug. “you should've done your job, jer, i'm so sorry.”
jeremy's arms enveloped you in a gentle embrace, his touch a soothing balm to your weary soul. the taste of his blood still lingered on your lips, a constant reminder of the sacrifice he had made to save you from the abyss. his warm smile held a depth of understanding and compassion that eased the weight of guilt that had settled within you.
“it's not your fault,” he whispered, his voice a comforting reassurance. “none of this was your doing. i made a choice, and i stand by it.”
your breath caught as his words seeped into your consciousness, the intensity of his gaze stripping away your defenses. his unwavering support was a lifeline, a connection that anchored you to the present amidst the tumult of change.
“i can't help but feel responsible,” you admitted, your voice laced with vulnerability. “you had to go through this because of me.”
jeremy's thumb brushed away a stray tear that had escaped your eye, his touch gentle and tender. “i've seen enough pain and loss in my life to know that sometimes, sacrifices are necessary. what matters is that you're here, and we'll face whatever comes together.”
the weight of his words settled over you like a warm blanket, wrapping you in a cocoon of acceptance and understanding. the bond that had been forged between you was unbreakable, a testament to the trials you had overcome and the connection that had deepened as a result.
as you gazed into his eyes, the remnants of your former self mingled with the newness of your vampire nature. the journey ahead was uncertain, marked by challenges and discoveries you couldn't yet fathom. but in his presence, you found the strength to face whatever came your way, together.
“thank you, jeremy,” you murmured, your gratitude flowing from the depths of your heart. “for saving me, for being here.”
he pressed a soft kiss to your forehead, his lips a tender caress against your skin. “i'll always be here for you, (y/n). you're a more important duty of mine than the hunting.”
in that moment, as the night wrapped around you in a cocoon of stars and shadows, you knew that the road ahead might be fraught with darkness and uncertainty. but as jeremy's arms held you close, his heartbeat a steady rhythm against your ear, you found solace in the knowledge that you didn't have to face it alone.

Shadow Milk x Reader
Oneshot
Warnings: Yandere, hypnotism
-At Last-
"Ah! Doesn't this air just feel... divine?"
Shadow Milk had just broken out of the seal and was staring everybody down... until he locked eyes with you.
As you'd gaze into his now hazy eyes, you could see a crazed smile appeared on his face. His entire mind was clouded with thoughts of you and only you. Your eyes, your body, you soul, everything.
"Oh, has my little doll come to visit me~?" Shadow Milk Cookie would move behind you, snaking a hand around your waist.
"What- no get off of me!" You push him off of you, and you can see a glint of frustration appear in his eyes.
Then, he'd smile. His maniac laughter began to fill the scene, sending a chill down your spine.
"Everyone, it would be best if we retreated for now!" Pure Vanilla called out.
The others would nod and quickly fled from the scene, including you.
Everything was so hectic. Walls would start to crumble and screams of terror filled the kingdom.
Eventually, you'd find yourself in a forest, far away from everyone. You must have gotten separated in the chaos.
A panic soon set in and you'd look around desperately for an exit, but the more you'd look around, the more you could admire your surroundings.
It was a beautiful forest. Flowers of all kinds would surround you, and the moonlight peaked through the leafy canopies above.
It was so... mesmerizing. A wave of calm washed over you and you sat down near a bed of flowers.
Something about this forest just pulled you in. It was so peaceful... maybe a bit too peaceful.
For just a fleeting moment... you wondered if it was all a lie. It all seemed too good to be true. Maybe Shadow Milk had set this all up to catch you off guard.
Then you saw something peculiar in the distance.
It seemed to be an ordinary tree bearing fruits. It would stand in solitude in the center of an opening, and the moon seemed to highlight it's every feature.
The fruits in question were apples; blue apples. You had never seen anything quite like it. It got you curious, so you took out an old book about a variety of plants. You searched and you searched, but there was nothing on this strange flora in front of you.
Working up some confidence, you'd step closer to the tree.
You just gazed absent mindedly at the strange fruit until shadows around you began to warp.
From them appeared a familiar face:
Shadow Milk Cookie.
"It's so good to see you again, my love!" He'd say while happily twirling you around.
He'd only stop to see exactly what you had been looking at prior to his appearance.
"Oh, so you found this old thing?" He picked one of the apples from the tree and held it out to you. "It's a beauty, right? Why don't you try one?" He continued to smile, holding out the blue apple.
"No way, I'm not eating that," You'd say, pushing the fruit back towards him. A scowl appeared on your face as you continued to glare at Shadow Milk.
"But doll.." He'd get closer to you, grabbing your chin with one of his hands and forcing you to look upon him.
"You really should eat it."
You'd continue to gaze into his eyes, which you swore got just a little bit brighter.
The world around you all became a blur. All sounds, except the beating of your own heart, had been muted.
The ground beneath your feet didn't feel solid anymore. You felt as if you could fall at any second, yet you felt so chained down at the same time.
Shadow Milk would gently trace your face with his finger, still holding out the apple, though slowly proding it closer and closer to you.
Every one of your senses where focused solely on the apple, and you'd mindlessly take hold of it.
Without even realizing, you had taken a bite of it before quickly dropping it and coming to your senses.
The damage had already been done though. The world was still a blur, but instead of focusing on the apple, your mind had become clouded with thoughts of him.
"Aww look at you~ I always knew blue suited you best, my little doll! Now we match."
Your heartbeat rang in your ears, and your whole world felt as if it were spiraling.
Shadow Milk would admire this fragile being, gently tracing a finger over every one of thier features. He had waited for so long to claim ownership of what he had rightfully declared his, and now he has finally done it.
Even if they'd sway, it was only because they had not yet become used to the side effects. Carefully, Shadow Milk Cookie would take them in his arms and carry them away to some secluded corner of the world.
He just couldn't risk anybody else seeing you! And it's not like you needed to see anyone else either. Your heart belonged to him now. It beat to keep you alive just as it beat to keep him alive.
He was never going to let you leave, since what Shadow Milk Cookie wants, Shadow Milk Cookie gets.
