I swear sometimes it feels like this Anakin: does something Fans: oh he totally learned and copied it from Obi-Wan Anakin: says anything (especially if it’s a big sophisticated) Fans: Oh he totally adopted that speech pattern from Obi-Wan Ahsoka: is Anakin’s padawan Fans: oh but we all know Obi-Wan taught her duel wielding and that he was supposed to be her master anyways Like????? I know Obi-Wan’s was Anakin’s master but also he can be his own person and Obi-Wan could have learned things from Anakin as well! You know how many things I’ve taught my parents? Or older folks? Anakin of course learned from Obi-Wan but that does not mean he can’t be a fancy speaker or use moves that are his own! And don’t get me started with the whole Ahsoka situation

Maybe I’m just a notoriously cranky gay lady or something, but there’s something really weirdly funky about how an officially published reference book like today’s DC Book of Pride comes out and without much fanfare has some curiously sanitized edits of many important character’s histories.
These histories are often messy and difficult, but being honest with them serves two purposes. For one, the characterization and history in-universe of the character are built off of those things, you don’t understand things like Hartley Rathaway’s decisions and quirks without knowing how being gay and negative reactions to him being gay shaped him.
On the other hand it’s also vital many times to real life queer history -- these stories become little parables of the struggle of this community over time. We become attached to these characters and stories because through the mess and the pain, we see our own struggles and capacity for triumph. Kate Kane being kicked out of West Point for living her truth, Renee Montoya going through the harassment and terror of being forcefully outed -- those aren’t just the character’s stories, those are our stories. We get comfort and encouragement out of them.
But maybe even more importantly and downplayed right now because it’s all but hidden inside the text of the reference book itself is the fact that they have, out of nowhere, seemingly completely retconned the family history of Alan Scott, Todd Rice, and Jennie-Lynn Hayden.
Alan was not aware he had children. Their mother, without Alan’s knowledge, put Todd and Jennie both up for adoption. They both endured a lot of trauma and pain as a result that completely altered the course of their lives and, especially for Todd, is VITAL to understanding his character and behavior once the narrative picks back up with them in their teenage years, when Alan finally meets them.
It’s also, by the way, why they all have different surnames.
But apparently, out of the blue, this reference book has decided to inform us that this history no longer exists? This is DEVASTATING for Todd’s history in particular. I’m not sure how to reconcile this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
idk man. If you’re going to be a reference book, maybe make sure you’re clear about what the continuity of everything is first?

In response to your previous post, why do you think people still love Anakin despite all the selfish and violent things he has done?
Just for archival sake, this is the post I assume you're responding to.
I love when you guys force me to drop the bitter old hag act and be more legitimately analytical about characters I dislike lol.
The somewhat less analytical response to this post is that people like him due to protagonist bias, Hayden Christensen being considered attractive, and Darth Vader having a lot of nostalgia from the OT.
However, while I think those things are always a major aspect in why people like the character, the more analytical version is that Anakin is a character created to be relatable. He's got flaws that most of us can look at and recognize in ourselves and even though he does become a monster because of them, he is also capable of saving himself in the end and doing something heroic despite that, he is allowed to get better and stand next to confirmed good guys like Yoda and Obi-Wan as what seems to be equals, he is capable of being loved by someone as kind and good as Luke Skywalker DESPITE his many flaws and heinous choices. And like... that's an impressively compelling character journey, to see someone become the worst version of themselves it is possible to be and still be loved enough to make the choice to be better.
And it's not like I haven't enjoyed my fair share of selfish characters who do heinous things in my day, even within Star Wars itself. Some of my favorite characters include people like Saw Gerrera and Luthen Rael and Cassian Andor and Reva Sevander, ALL of whom made some pretty nasty choices or acted selfishly at some point or another. Reva is literally built to be a parallel and then foil FOR ANAKIN.
So it's not like I don't necessarily see the appeal of Anakin as this massively flawed character with sympathetic motivations for his immensely awful choices, someone who wanted to be good and, for a little while, WAS good, but who was led towards a dark path that he knew he shouldn't take but took anyway because he let his fears control him. Anakin making the mistakes he does is literally a cautionary tale, you're SUPPOSED to relate to him and see yourself in him, the story kind-of doesn't work if you don't in some ways.
So I think a lot of people who like him probably just see a lot of themselves in him, both good and bad. They project onto Anakin and sympathize with his motives and his struggles and, even though they know he's a screw-up, they root for him. They want him to get better because if someone like Anakin can get better, then so can they, so can we all. Anakin is a cautionary tale saying that even those of us with the best of intentions can lead ourselves down a road of selfishness if we aren't careful about our motives, but he's also a hopeful tale saying that even the WORST of us can lead ourselves back to a road of selflessness if we're willing to put in the effort. So you can feel sympathy for the first half and take strength from the second half of his story, depending on where you are in your life.
This is obviously all sort-of said in like the best faith interpretation of why people might like Anakin. There's plenty of people who like him as a power fantasy, people who see Anakin as this impressive strong character who takes down his abusers and takes control of his narrative by defying the prophecy and killing the Jedi. And, you know, everyone gets to take what they want out of stories of course, but boy do these people and I take VERY different things out of Star Wars. I curate my internet experience so I never have to have anything to do with these people, but they absolutely exist.
And at the end of the day, all of that is wrapped up in a character who, in one trilogy, is played by a very classically attractive actor who gets to kiss Natalie Portman and is occasionally funny, and in the other trilogy, is represented as this cool-looking villain in an imposing black costume with a skull helmet and cape and some memorable quotes. So while the deeper reasons for people's enjoyment of his character definitely exist, the surface-level ones are still there and can enhance that enjoyment a lot.
And I'm sure there's any number of other, smaller things that impacted people's reactions to Anakin. He was introduced as a child in TPM and so people who were expecting this young adult character already in the throes of darkness might've ended up seeing him very differently and relating to him on a whole different level. People might've ended up rooting for him because the representation of the Jedi was so far away from what they THOUGHT Jedi would be that they ended up liking Anakin simply because he's pitted against the Jedi they didn't like. Maybe some people didn't like him until TCW and they really appreciate THAT version of Anakin quite a lot, maybe especially his relationship with Ahsoka. Maybe some people just really fell for the doomed romance plotline with Padme. Maybe some people like him because Obi-Wan and Luke like him and those dynamics are intriguing to them.
But for me, Anakin has just never felt all that compelling. I was introduced to the Prequels first as a kid and I was far more invested in Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon (who were way funnier than Anakin ever was) and Padme (who had really pretty costumes). I didn't HATE Anakin by any means, but he wasn't all that funny, he didn't have the cooler action scenes for the first two films, and the romance plotline didn't hook me. I didn't mind Anakin as an accessory to Obi-Wan, but that was about as far as I went.
As I got older and more into the fandom, though, I started learning a lot more about the Jedi and why they WEREN'T the true villains of the Prequels the way everyone said they were and what Lucas's messages had actually been intended to be, and the romance with Padme just kept aging like milk, and my investment in the Jedi often meant defending them AGAINST people who saw them as no more than Anakin's abusers at worst, or a repressive society that unintentionally led Anakin to darkness at best. Arguing FOR the Jedi usually meant arguing AGAINST Anakin and pointing out all of the places HE was wrong and selfish and why the Jedi were RIGHT not to trust him. And the more passionate I got about defending the Jedi, the less and less I ended up liking Anakin. I wasn't overly invested in him in the first place, so it wasn't hard to take me from neutral to decidedly negative. Had I enjoyed him more as a kid, either in the Prequels or the Original Trilogy, maybe I would've landed in a different place with him, but I didn't. It didn't feel like any great loss to decide I didn't like him that much anymore. By comparison, I liked Padme a lot more as a kid and so even though I often find her just as selfish as Anakin, I like her a lot more usually.
So I get why people find him compelling, I really do, but he just doesn't speak to me. I highly doubt he ever will anymore.

Soooooo final thoughts on the Kenobi show miss Tag?
Sobbing, we were given everything we wanted isn’t it great?
But really we were pretty much given everything and even after a couple stolen hours of sleep I’m still just reeling. Because it was so Godamn good guys, like everything about it was as close to perfect as we could get. Literally everything I wanted from this show, the Hero’s journey arc for Obi-Wan,force visions/flashbacks of Anakin,Vaderwan fight scenes,an open faced Hayden as Vader scene, I not only got,but I got masterfully done. Everything was handled with such deference and love and it’s so evident that for Deborah and Ewan and Hayden, this was at its core a passion project that all mattered dearly to them. And that soul and dedication and care truly shines through in the weighted moments they give the characters and the narrative arcs that really mean something.
Others have mentioned on here how good the show is simply for leaning in on the themes that Star Wars is built on. Good and light and goodness will always prevail against hate and evil. Kindness is the foundation of the Jedi, letting go is tantamount to growth and happiness. The Kenobi series, reduced down to its bare bones, actually understands what Star Wars is about. And it’s narratives boiled down even further is to Obi-Wan and Anakin and forgiveness and holding on.
Obi-Wan’s arc is relearning himself, relearning to be a Jedi and to have faith in people and to forgive himself. Anakin’s is to cement himself in his own agony and inability to let go,to become the Darth Vader Obi-Wan faces Nine years later. You truly cannot have one without the other, where Kenobi goes Skywalker follows, and however you look at these men you cannot untangle them,or truly examine their characters without the other.
But on a less thematic perfectness vein, the choreography was also stunning. The evolution of Obi-Wan through his movements and his fighting. Can you believe episode one opened with a bent and weathered Obi who looked closer to Alec Guinness than the Ewan we know? He is haggard and worn and weak, and through the narrative he puts on his robes and takes up his saber and slowly learns to have faith and to use the force again. And by the finale he is the great Jedi Master General Obi-Wan Kenobi, falling into his iconic opening of Soresu and leveling an entire battlefield of rocks with the force. The lightsaber scenes were spectacular, and as much a story in themselves as the dialogue and emotional arc.
And I think the ending was perfect. Obi-Wan gets closure as much as he’s capable of,he is ready to move on. And after the wretched devastation that is the Anakin/Obi final fight,we end on a note of happiness and hope. Obi-Wan gets to meet Luke and Lobby that Hello There line,we see him actual to god laugh when he didn’t even smile for ten years. He finally communes with Qui-Gon,is finally looking to the future rather than the past.
In all I think it was brilliant, better than I could have ever hoped for. It better win awards, the world better prostrate themselves at Hayden’s feet and beg for forgiveness when he is such a stunningly phenomenal actor and a fucking wonderful person to boot. I want Roman parades of victory,I want to throw myself into the sun so I can stop having so many feelings.

Character Ask Game - Liam and Theo - 2, 7, 8 and 16
LIAM
2. Favorite canon thing about this character I like how much of a real person he feels like - he plays a sport, struggles with anger and other issues, loves his friends, plays video games with them, and is just generally a stressed teenager. Also, I will always adore that he's the pack's adopted son.
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like? Post-canon fics that explore how he's doing mentally after the war. A lot of times in canon, he didn't really get to fully experience trauma or heal, and I love when he's allowed to do so.
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise? When he's straight except for Theo (or another one person). I just... no thank you. Struggling with sexuality during a fic? Mood. Amazing. Ending with "I'm straight, except for you"? Nope.
16. What's your least favorite ship for this character? Layden, I know it's canon but I just don't like it. To me, I love Hayden and Liam being besties, not in a relationship. I like Hayden as a character, just not in a ship with Liam.
THEO
2. Favorite canon thing about this character Theo is literally one of my favorite fictional characters, both Teen Wolf and otherwise, so this is literally the hardest thing to answer. I'd say my favorite canon thing about Theo is his arc and redemption specifically in 6B. Either that, or the amount of gender envy in 6B I get from him...
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like? All the theorizing and fics about his backstory, about what he did with the Dread Doctors and what was done to him is my favorite. It really deepens his character and the angst is so good. It also makes him healing that much more important.
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise? There's a lot of non-con stuff against other characters and in general, that sits badly with me if a character is meant to be liked.
16. What's your least favorite ship for this character? Obviously my main ship is Thiam but there's a bunch of others I don't really mind. I think my least favorite is Malia x Theo though, because it was built from a place of manipulation in season 5 and I didn't even like it then.

RANT!!
yk what pisses me off people who like young hayden, yet hate hayden now cause he’s “too old”. LIKE HUH!!?? that’s daddy right there put some fucking respect on his name. idk if it’s because i have daddy issues and older men just 🤤 but hayden now can do whatever he wants to me. i love hayden when he was young DUH but older hayden is so papi. i see it a lot on tiktok where people say hayden is too old to play Aaron Warner a book character (which i love and the fc for me is hayden) but it’s just so rude to be like “uggghhh he’s too old now 😓” I LOVE OLD DADDY HAYDEN 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
-👻
Yeah and like when people say Hayden isn't aging... bitch HE IS. Which makes him so much hotter. Yeah he is old but that's the charm? When I see him smiling and I see the wrinkles around his eyes I start foaming and sweating. I can be his wife and I'm built different, I can be a traditional wife that a white man like him would like 🫡

My very biased review of the Ahsoka finale
This might thread down the unpopular opinions road. It's all right. That's what opinions are for.
Let me start by saying that I didn't like most of the finale. I had a grand total of 2 scenes I enjoyed: Ezra reuniting with Hera, and the very end scene with Hayden (shocker, I know).
I didn't like most of the show in general, mainly because of the whole clusterfuck with Sabine being trained as a Jedi. I hate it deeply because it undermines Sabine's worth. She was already a great character. She didn't need to be made better or more powerful by becoming Ahsoka's apprentice. She didn't need to suddenly develop Force-sensitivity. The cool thing with Sabine was that she was NORMAL. Yes, she was a Mandalorian and skilled with blasters and explosives, but she was a regular person. She was a non-superpowered human in a galaxy where heroes were known as having superpowers. That's what made her so interesting in Rebels. And this whole season she was at her best when she switched back to what she knew: guns and bombs. Her best scene in the finale (imo) was when she crashed the ship and took 2 TIEs with it. That's who Sabine is.
I'm also mad at how little information we had on Baylann and Shin. They were depicted as the main villains in the beginning, but we never got their back story. By the last two episodes they're discarded to make room for Thrawn, which I understand, but we still don't even know who they are. What's their story? Where did Baylann come from? How does he know Anakin? How did Shin come to be his apprentice? And the worst part is we won't ever get clear answers because Baylann as he was in this season cannot be in the next due to what happened to Ray Stevenson. So this is just a loose thread. And the way it ended doesn't give me hope for Shin either.
Midway through the show it feels like Filoni had a shift and stopped caring about this being the Ahsoka show and just making it a setup for his Thrawn movie. And I hate it. I hate when film and showrunners make what should be a stand-alone (in a previously established universe) into a prequel. It's the crap Marvel did and now Star Wars is trying really hard to copy that. (Yeah I know, it's Disney. Pisses me off all the same.) This show was called "Ahsoka" for fuck sake! And by the end, it was the Thrawn show. We had an entire episode (1x06 Far, Far Away) without Ahsoka in it, except for like one scene in the beginning. Can you imagine a Kenobi episode without Obi-Wan? An Andor episode without Cassian? It makes no sense! It's the same kind of bullshit they pulled with BoBF when it became The Mandalorian s2.5 halfway through. Yes, it progresses the overall story, but in a way to set up something else instead of focusing on your main character.
In the same vein, I hate how Jacen was set up in the beginning, then discarded, how we never even saw Zeb and Agent Kallus, how Hera just became the way to tie Ahsoka back to the New Republic, how Senator Xiono could have been a good antagonist but ended up being an asshole without substance... There were too many things set up for a show this short and most of them ended up fizzling into nothing.
Now, I did like the Anakin parts. Yes, that's because I'm a Hayden stan through and through. Put him anywhere in the GFFA and I'm a goner. The World Between Worlds scenes were absolutely phenomenal, and probably why I'll rewatch this show again. Sorely because of Hayden (although Ariana was incredible too in the TCW scene). His Anakin brought this whole show to another level. No shade to Rosario, I love her. But this show didn't do her justice. Especially not next to Hayden when they had them sparring. The rest of the show I was disappointed in all of her fight scenes because how can I believe the girl who trained under Anakin Skywalker is so slow? They, probably without realizing it, built her up to fail. And it bothers me because we know from the animated series that Ahsoka is amazing in a fight.
I also appreciated the zombie troopers. The rest of the Dathomir storyline is a bit muddy and I'm not sure I love it, but I guess I just have to wait to see how they try to make this fit post-Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor.
I don't even know where I'm going with this by now. I just... I wish this show had been different. The ending is kinda making me cautiously excited for Thrawn. (But only if they bring in the Chiss Ascendancy and Eli. I need my Thranto fix in live action, thank you very much.) There's also all the little easter eggs of Mortis that make me wonder if they didn't pull a Lost and they're all just dead (which I would respect a lot more than whatever else they seem to be building on).
In the end, I am deeply disappointed in what the show ended up being. Apart from a few moments, most of it was "meh" at best for me and I mourn what could be if Filoni stopped trying to make all his female OC the biggest badass that ever was and one-up one another.

extremely long shadows over welde character analysis post
by extremely long i mean its fucking 3k words cause I go too silly.
Spoilers up to ep 8 and its mostly rambles so apolocheese. I also posted this on my twitter so if u saw it there here's an actual text version LOL
Argentum:
Oh my god. You are soooo…… First of all, in the story we’ve gotten this. Argentum is a strong headed, curious person who is a bit stubborn and holds themself at a bit of a graceful appearance on the outside. They are smart, witty, but also a bit of a temper especially when it comes to frankly a little stupid ideas. They are also kind and care for others. We were shown from the beginning that they enjoy their work and meeting fans and even with people they just met are willing to help them stay safe. Also they’re a little dumb. Sometimes curiosity overrides rational thinking and that was shown when they touched the weird fucking webbing in the cave and also that ENTIRE plan when there was the confrontation between Vhaeraun and Lolth which was fucking actually crazy. This isn’t even beginning to talk about the head friend. I am constantly thinking about that voice and who that could be. Brings us speculation around them. Argentum is not human, or at least fully human. Their eyes are def not human and Hayden is a silly lil guy who would pull a trick like that. There was one speculation on them possibly being a Kalashtar and I think it could fit but honestly for now it hasn’t been on my forefront. I also bought the inscriptor class finally and was looking at how possibly they were built. What stats what subclass ect. I don’t fucking know.. Now you might be asking “Hey why don’t you just ask?” CAUSE IM SCARED. But honestly cause I wanted to see if I could figure it out myself lmao. It boiled down to either Mystery or Historian subclass is what Snail helped me narrow to. Could be wrong tho. There’s also little tidbits about Argentum that have come from outside the sessions like when I asked if they had a canonical birthday cause “celebrating fictional characters birthdays is cringe” “fuck you happy birthday argentum” is funny. Still honestly wanna know if any of the party has canon birthdays. I got hit with the “Oh they don’t know their own birthday.” and then swindled. There was also the discussion on Hayden’s pcs never really having parents or family and Argentum was included in that list which more or less got confirmed in session this episode (7). I still don’t know their motives, still don’t know their relationships with others because it seems everyone is connected to someone except Argentum, and I still don’t know who their patron is and if that is the same as the voice in their head. Love the silly though
Phoenix:
Fifi….. Not much was known about you until today and holy shit did it rock my world. Before we had known he was the apprentice to Ipswich and was sent in his place as guest of honor. We also then found out he was a spy working on tailing Lolth and that’s kinda all we knew about Phoenix for a bit, at least heavy lore wise. He’s a sarcastic, witty, bitch and I love him so much. I could never surpass Snail as Phoenix Enjoyer but it’s close. We learned a bit more during the nightmare drink sequence where he met his patron and got his powers fucking zapped. A couple things stood out to me from it. How his patron looked and specific wording from Phoenix. We know Ipswich isn’t mortal anymore but Phoe had said something along the lines of “I’d get my ass kicked and be right back here the next day.” He is surrounded by death or even just the undead. His patron deals in undead magic and I don’t think if Phoenix gets knocked down he wouldn’t be back again looking all fine the next day. We don’t know his patron’s name which like. Fuck. but lmao. Anyways Ipswich is tracking him like crazy and says he has this important quest although we don’t know a lot of Phoe’s thoughts and feelings on what he’s doing. To me it almost seems like he’s a tool or pawn for others and idk if I can fully call him a good person. Doing a bit of research into his pact and such it seems that he’s just going to possibly lose more and more humanity as he gets stronger but also i couldn’t tell you how much he has already. There’s also the whole cousins and throne thing that got dropped this episode. It seems his family is also involved with this whole scheme but Phoe is the favourite of the bunch. The idea that he could possibly be royalty was also thrown around and i think if he was like secret prince it would be from a large family all vying for a throne or he is working with Ipswich and others to usurp the current ruler and take the power for himself. Although knowing Fifi it’ll probably be like a secret third option. Not much except he’s so 90s movie older sister to me and the fact Ipswich runs a school for swindlers which is kinda funny.
Sunder:
Babygirl. Pookie. Love of my life who I want to kill me. God. This is now my love letter to you. I saw you across the bar and thought you were sooo scary and I’ve been enraptured ever since. Anyways that’s a freak. He’s not the most talkative and seems more lonely despite everything. They’re funny, loyal, kind, and ruthless. We didn’t get much for Sunder for a bit until mostly the shopping episode. We learned a bit through Kelly and the nightmare drink of what makes up Sunder but it didn’t really culminate until the head crushing I would say. Honestly I don’t even care I just fucking love the way Sunder is played. Like I’m sitting here trying to find words that aren’t just I think he’s neat cause I do think analyzing him is intriguing. They’re going to get angry and they’re going to get violent and you are not safe. It’s something that was so surprising at first because of how much Sunder kind of fell into the background. The nightmare drink gave us the first look at this, that Sunder had apparently killed someone, a kid even, but a lot of their violence was played off as a joke by the community, I know I did. Learned today that the person in that nightmare was Ilmater and it shows that she wasn’t lying when she said that visions and nightmares of this accident are a plague. I believe them when they say it was an accident and idk how young they were but to harbor that from a young age will fuck you up. Their morals are something that intrigues me i would say the most. No trouble in murder although I assume that’s more or less towards people who piss him off or are generally bad people. He’s kind hearted and that’s shown a lot especially with this last interaction I’d say. I still need to like rewatch a lot of parts of it but “we were just kids” genuinely fucking rocked me to my core and it got me i won’t lie. We’re still very early in but idk, I want to see Sunder truly happy and not haunted by the ghosts of their past. I feel this was most likely the first step but it’s hard to say as we go forward. I think violence and blood will always follow it’s just how they choose to take it.
The Wall:
I think now Wall is the character we know the least about, at least to me. We know his duty to Eilistraee and his duty to Zephrael and also his little foodie quirks (love him dearly) but outside of that I don’t think we know a lot. He’s the character I have the least notes for now but I do know this. He is loyal to a fault, a little dense, kind, and revels in battle and violence. I think about his nightmare and the fear of losing her and the sword then what happened to this episode. He’s had this since he was a child and then he had this dream, this trip to the beastland plane and looked Eilistraee in the eye and fought her. I believe he still loves her, cares for her, but I also think it has changed since that episode no doubt. Rewinding a bit, I think a bit about him being told he has to be pure of heart in order to wield the sword. What does pure of heart truly mean? Wall loves fighting and murder. He actively committed torture. Also he’s the bodyguard for an objectively bad man. There’s the argument of his intentions are pure although I doubt you can do a lot of what he did and have those intentions be fully pure. It’s just something I think about more than probably a normal person should teehee. Anyways the conversation he and Rae had at the beginning of this session should classify as psychological warfare cause I genuinely do not think I’m ever going to recover. I have been talking about it for weeks how they are the chosens, favored, by literal enemies and seem to have some sort of hit on them by a couple of deities now. I thought about how it might affect relationships and how Wall views them. We know he’s very loyal but I always wondered how far he would need to be pushed before that is broken. Seems like an extreme amount. His morals are probably what intrigue me the most tbh. I’d kill to know what his alignment is LMAO. Most of all I just really love the Wall because he is goofy and silly but he also isn’t a stupid brick wall that doesn’t know anything and I really enjoy seeing the times he gets to explain things. Fuck it we Wall.
Zephrael:
Okay so this will be the longest one cause I’m biased and yes Zephrael is my favourite. I always feel a little bad when it comes to that and showing that favouritism because I truly do love the entire party so much. This hit me the most when the show was just starting out and I did feel like I needed to show how much I loved each character and not just focus on Rae lol. I hope this thread can at least show that (if you even make it this far) Anyways Zephrael is a fucking freak and I love him so much. I’ve done multiple posts on him before and yeah Im gonna repeat some of it here i wont lie. Right out the gate we probably learn the most and yet the least about Rae’s past and present. He is an emissary for the reformed church of Lolth and an honored guest. He had known about Edo’s work before and talked about how it had helped with relations between the public and the reformed church. This means everything and nothing to us. But it does show that despite Rae’s… oddness, he is extremely well spoken when he wants to be and I think about that speech a lot. The next few episodes gave us some more information yet also a lot more questions. These weird pains that seem to predict disasters, the extreme phobia of spiders despite being a paladin of Lolth, and his both egotistical yet self deprecating attitude. It was fascinating to watch him because he clashed but never in a way that made him irredeemable and I’ll go more into that at the end section. A few early things I thought about a lot before the catalyst that was the nightmare drink were who the reformed church was, where did Zephrael come from, why was he chosen as this ambassador, and why he didn’t know undercommon but knew abyssal. These are still questions I have to this day LMAO. The nightmare drink vision I possibly overanalyze the most next to Phoenix’s. It stood out due to the fact that it wasn’t, bad. Rae could see again, he saw his father and best friends again, he got told he was going to learn the truth again. Why was this considered a bad thing? Everyone else experienced horrors and regrets yet Zephrael got sorrow. It jumpstarted the part aasimar Rae theory tho. Angel imagery Rae makes me clinically insane I won’t lie and his father having these large wings and bright white light did not help. There’s the big question of what he is and also how he joined the church. Hell, even how he feels about the church as well, truly at least. During one of the hiatuses fandom went crazy and Snail Snailmuds dropped out of nowhere that the runes on Rae’s body weren’t just random but fucking translated abyssal that said “PAIN CHAOS POWER” which first of all goes hard second of all what the fuck.
Theory crafting for Zephrael always feels like climbing uphill and also being constantly shot at cause every time something happens with that man it turns out to be a secret third thing going on oh mygod. Anyways I’ve discussed whether or not he was forced into this church, was kidnapped, born into it, ect because at the end of the day, he seems to very much be a tool or pawn for this church and/or Lolth. Also the whip being an artifact of Lolth or whatever they’re called again I forgot??? What the fuck dude. ALSO HIM SLEEPING IN BATHTUBS????? Grizzly has said this will make sense later but genuinely what the fuck there is something wrong with him. Moving on, revelation about the tattoos comes out and we get the torture episode. Well we get the holy shit they just killed those guys begining and then torture. First of all, I cheered louder than anyone else when Rae actually did fucking combat instead of running away and also the fact he can use his whip. Anyways dumb and dumber torture a guy and first of all the lay on hands to keep him alive during torture was insane and I hope to see it again in anything and it’s also where it’s learned that the tattoos on him were “forcibly engraved” which was honestly brushed off and a lot happened that I think most people forgot but I didn’t cause I’m crazy. Anyways moving on from THAT we get the typical Rae. Dodging questions when Argentum tries to interrogate him and also dunno if he’s just fuckin lying or not when he does actually answer them.
Episode 6 and 7 are where I think Rae slightly pivots. Not really noticeable but he feels a little more, close. It was also a change I noticed with the cast and I think that helped a lot of character dynamics as well. Rae’s stupid beef with Argentum was so fucking funny and I do think about him wanting to heal Sunder before himself after the Bulette because if he heals Sunder, how would that help him. Yes they’re his bodyguard but the monster is dead and it’s not like Sunder can heal him back. It was a decision that I think was the most different for Rae because he was shown to care deeply for Wall but not so much the others as much. He still doesn’t care for the others as much as he does The Wall but I do think he has grown a fondness or care for the others whether he wants to or not. And thats the thing, I could not tell you if he does actually wanna care for them or not. Yes they are allies and help but he seems to try and keep things at a transactional level or how much power it may bring him. He still does but like his dynamic with Argentum seems closer cause the antagonizing feels more like siblings getting on each other’s nerves rather than a growing distance. I think Sunder also displaying that brutality may have put him more into Rae’s good books too. Anyways he read a fucking book huge day. Now he has even worse mommy issues. Ep 7 killed me with hammers but that was spoken about. His relationship with Wall is something that fascinates me though. Rae is selfish, it’s not hidden at all, yet he does seem to care deeply for Wall and almost defends him more than he would defend himself. It’s nice to see for this bodyguard and his charge dynamic but ep 7 spread some light on it and I do think their bond will outlive the will of the Gods but what do I know, I’m not anyone at that table. Zephrael is rude, odd, egotistical but also masochistic and does care deeply when he wants to and you don’t see that kind of character as much I wanna say. He’s my favourite cause his weird gnc swag enraptured me thats all he is post over.
Not actually over cause there’s one last thing. These characters would not be these characters without the wonderful players behind them. Each episode brings out better and better performances that have me actually going crazy over them. I genuinely wouldve had nothing to write about if it weren’t for the fact everyone brings so much life into these characters and loves them so much that they feel so fucking real. They don’t feel flat or simple but very nuanced characters that I love to study and even be wrong about (i actually hate being wrong and every time im wrong i get so ashamed) but Argentum’s flourishes and talks to get out of situations, Phoenix’s wit and holy shit that dread form voice, Sunder during the market fight and then the softer scene with Varic, Wall’s humor and even talking about the more serious stuff, and Zephrael’s ability to balance harshness and endearing at the same time. That’s Hayden, Leizu, Juzo, Ben, and Grizzly and I genuinely cannot fucking talk about the performances enough. I’ve thought about making a post just about it but I fear I just wouldn’t be able to articulate what I wanna say enough. Then obviously it wouldn’t even be possible without the fucking amazing world building and npcs Jonah has provided. Everything is so immersive and I find myself caring for each and every npc we meet whether caring for their safety or caring too much cause I dislike them. Every npc sticks with me and I grow so attached so quickly because they feel so real in this world that also feels so fucking real. It feels like we are just peeking into another world and I actually can’t multitask when watching sow cause I get too sucked in. It’s really hard to do that and I talk about it a lot but never really publicly so I thought I would here.
Anyways for real this time post over, this ended up way longer than I thought it was gonna be so ur a real one if you read this all the way through lol. I’m off to go think about sow merch again as I wait for permission and stuff cause im crazy. See ya later

Whumptober 2023 October 10, 2023 Alternate Prompt #1: Betrayal Hayden Marlowe/Jack Perry
Tumblr media
Maybe Hayden should have seen this coming. Maybe there was some unwritten social cue he had missed. Maybe there was something he had said days ago, weeks ago, or maybe even longer Jack was holding against him. Hayden wasn't always the best at neurotypical social cues. Granted, he wasn't exactly sure that his boyfriend was neurotypical. Boyfriend? Former boyfriend? Hayden wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to be calling the person that just a few minutes ago had attacked and turned his back on him. He knew this business wasn't one that was necessarily built on friendships, or any kind of relationship. The most memorable moments were those in the breakdown of a relationship. That didn't make things any easier though. He and Jack were supposed to be different. They understood each other in such a way that he wasn't sure anyone had ever understood him before. He hadn't needed to take the time to teach Jack sign since Jack already knew it and used it frequently. In moments when he didn't have the strength or the desire to use his voice, and Jack didn’t need words to communicate with each other. They didn't even need their hands at some moments. They just understood each other.
So why could Hayden suddenly not understand what Jack was doing now? Why was Jack suddenly acting so seemingly out of character? Hayden was used to being the one who had done something wrong. After all his parents had kicked him out when he was a young teenager just because they couldn't handle the symptoms that were likely signs of autism, they would never get him diagnosed with. It was the man who would become sort of a surrogate father figure to him after discovering him sleeping behind his house that would finally get Hayden diagnosed. It was also through Taz that Hayden would discover his love for professional wrestling, and by extension later his love for his boyfriend Jack Perry.
Hayden hadn't had a meltdown like this one in many years. He could barely see a few feet in front of him because of how flurry his vision had gone. He had barely made it to his private locker room space before collapsing in the floor a shaking mess. He wasn't sure when the older man had arrived but the first sensation he remembered feeling clearly was that of being scooped up into his surrogate father's arms.
“I got you kid,” he spoke softly. “He's gonna pay for this I promise you that.”
Hayden focused on the familiar accent trying to find anything that he could latch on to. Even with the door to the room closed he felt as though he could hear every single sound in the hallway outside it. His ears felt as though he could probably hear every sound for miles. He was so hypersensitive that he swore he could feel the individual threads in the hoodie that he wore. He tried to raise his hands to sign something to the other, but they were shaking too badly to form anything coherent.
“You ain't gotta say nothing,” Taz said. “You can talk to me when you're ready, but until then don't push yourself too hard okay kid?” Hayden may not have been biologically his, but for the last ten years Taz had looked after the young, abandoned boy, and considered him his son just as he would have if he had been his own by blood. He had fought with the court system for two years to get guardianship over Hayden when he was sixteen years old, and though he hadn't ever told the young boy he had a strong desire to eventually adopt him, but he didn't want to push him too far. He knew how hard major changes, and strong emotions could be for him. These exact things were the reason why the young boy sat trembling and sobbing in his arms. Jack Perry was lucky that Taz couldn't go out and try to find him himself. He was lucky that he was no longer an active competitor, not that he needed a ring to go after the person that had hurt his son so deeply. He knew that all of Hayden’s things were likely still with Jack. That made him all the angrier. Hayden didn't have access to the things that he would usually use to ground him in a moment like this because they were with the person who was the very reason why he needed those coping devices.
He needed to find someone he trusted to bring Hayden’s bag back to him. He needed those things to get him grounded again, or this meltdown was going to lead to a stay in the hospital, and those were never easy for Hayden. He sat the young boy down on a small black couch in the corner. “I'll be right back I promise.”
He stepped out into the hallway, closing the door behind him hoping to muffle some of the loudness of his voice, though he knew in Hayden’s current state it wasn't going to matter much. “Hey,” he shouted into the full hallway “I need somebody to go and get my boy's bags from Perry, if you let me get anywhere near him, we're going to have a dead body on our hands.”
It was Kelani Johnson that made her way over to him. The worry for her friend was clearly etched on her face. “I can go and get them for you,” she offered. “I don't know why Jack is acting like this, especially knowing what this would do to Hayden. This just doesn't seem like him.”
“I ain't got time to worry about the house and the wise,” Taz sighed. “I gotta worry about keeping my boy for making himself sick and ending up in a strange hospital overnight. It's hard enough when we're home.”
Kelani frowned and turned in the direction of Jack's locker room. “I'll make sure he has what he needs, and you can message me anytime if you need anything else for him. He's one of my best friends and I hate to see him hurting like this.”
“I appreciate it, kid. We'll be right here in this room until he's ready to go. The arena staff can take it up with me if they've got an issue with it. I'm not moving him until he's ready. Trying to change too much too fast is only going to make this worse, and I haven't seen a meltdown like this since he was a teenager. They don't normally manifest themselves like this. Normally they manifest in anger, but we ain't got time to go through all that. We'll be waiting here when you get his things.” He watched her go off down the hallway before returning to the room with Hayden. At least he knew even in a moment like this that Hayden had friends he could rely on. He was going to get his boy through this, and he was going to have Jack Perry's head.

I don’t know if anyone else is following the Star Wars drama on Tik Tok but I find it so polarising and I wanted to talk about it. It’s no surprise that there are widely different opinions on Obi-Wan Kenobi, when you have a show with this much hype its going to happen. What it seems to me is there is no space for comprise. You have the fans who are loudly proclaiming their disappointment, because they let fan theories, and what they built up in their head ruin the show for them. Then you have the other side of the coin who say any criticism is unwarranted because we should just be happy we’re getting Star Wars content and its not the show’s fault its not the story you wanted told.
Where is the space for people in the middle? There never seems to be any; it’s always you hate it, or you love it. But I find with Obi-Wan Kenobi, there are things I love and things I hate, which is the same for most shows I watch. I happened to really like the first three episodes, I thought the third in particular was fantastic but I'm with people who felt episode four was a let down. I agree that the “kidnap Leia” storyline has been dragged out too far and I’d have concluded it after episode three; but that’s just me.
I don’t agree with people who are saying Obi-Wan is a side character in his own show, or that the show is about setting up Reva and nothing else. We’re clearly seeing Obi-Wan deal with the trauma of Order 66 and Anakin becoming Darth Vader, which is all good shit. I do however agree that Hayden Christensen has been under used until this point and yeah that is disappointing in my books. He was heavily used in the promotion of the show (get that Mickey Mouse money Hayden) and yes, that may have given people the false impression that he would be in the show more than was actually intended. But I still don’t think it’s the fans fault for getting hyped and then disappointed when we know full well Disney knows what they’re doing.
I don’t agree with fans who are saying “we had Clone Wars, what do we need flashbacks for? You just want fan service and want to be disappointed.” I loved Clone Wars, but the reason I was excited for the show was because after 20 years, Ewan and Christian were coming back to play Obi-Wan and Anakin/Darth that’s what made me excited for the show, seeing these actors playing these characters again. So yes, I want a Clone Wars flashback, in a perfect world we’d get more than one because I’ve wanted a live action Clone Wars for a long time (I know I wont get it but still.) There is nothing wrong with fan service. Entertainment is a symbiotic relationship I had over my cash whether its to pay for a streaming service or a cinema ticket and in return the show is made. Both parties are getting something out of it; so why not want some fan service?
Don’t get me wrong I hate fan service for the sake of it when it doesn’t further the plot or makes no sense within the story being told. But in terms of Obi-Wan Kenobi, there is plenty of space to fit in fan service and make it make sense; and in rich the story and I think there is nothing wrong with wanting that. Obviously, I’m against the fans who send hate to the writers/actors because grow up at the end of the day it’s a tv show, the world isn’t going to collapse because you didn’t get what you want. But I think criticism of any show, is fine, I certainly don’t buy into the idea that we should kiss Disney’s ass because we’re getting any content because the Star Wars shows have been hit and miss up until now.
So this is a post for the people in the middle. We exist; its okay to love something, but have criticism of it, to wish things were done better and to be disappointed, we’re just not dicks about it. Anyone else feel the same?

What are the things you wish you could change about Charlie in underworld?
Spoilers!! But u knew that:
Luke's job: Idk him being a police officer felt so strange I suppose. I feel like I'd like him being a bounty hunter/officer for hire instead of that, but that's just my opinion.
Luke's screentime overall: I wish we got to see more of him in Charlie In Underworld. He helped Eugene out of the bad image he saw of himself and is one of the only other people that actually see him the way that Eugene wants to see himself, and I wish we could've seen more of their interactions as adults, especially after Eugene fell back into the self loathing image that he got used to 10 years before. That and more interactions with the other mortals would've been fun.
Eugene's anger: Eugene is an extremely patient character, however that patience could also hide growing anger that he never knew how to express. I wish we could've seen more of Eugene being angry and covering up with the neutral act, and how Boss would deal with the fact that they are more similar than they used to be because of that guilt and rage. Eugene already gets angry and just brushes it off in the game but I would've loved to see him just break stuff in his room out of anger, and then when he's back in public he's acting fine again. Especially in River's incident. Where he swears for the first and only time in both games, (".River.. Fuck it!! Tear it all down!") He seems to only revert to that language when he's extremely furious, and I wanted to see more of his rage and guilt when it comes to River, Boss, and the fact that the image of himself that he came to love was built off of lies.
Eugene and his relationships to younger characters: Eugene was kind of an older brother/father figure to Hayden. Although Boss showed a bit of his softer side when it comes to Hayden, Hayden always kinda just saw him as Boss. Eugene also has a softer spot when it comes to younger characters, but he's more emotionally available than Boss, which makes Hayden gravitate towards him. In Hayden's chapter, when he turns into an evil spirit, he doesn't listen to Eugene but to Charlie because of what they said. After the events of that, Eugene asks "Why did he listen to you and not me?" Because Eugene was always around for Hayden, but he doesn't understand why his words didn't reach him, but he's confused on why Charlie's did. I wish we got to see more of Eugene taking care of Hayden, and him being kind of an older cousin figure to Charlie, since he seems to be more gentle with younger ghosts the way that Boss is.
Eugene's PTSD: Charlie's PTSD is more flushed out understandably, but there was never any scenes where Eugene got particularly stressed or scared of events he's experienced in the past. (there might have been, but if I forgot, I apologize.) I would've wanted to see atleast just slight mannerisms from him whenever stuff like that comes in, such as a flinch or an immediate reflex (EX: If he flinched at loud noises, or at the trains passing by after River's incident.)
And more but I don't want to write all of that down. Also please don't take this as me being mean towards the game!! This is simply my opinion and if there is anything I said wrong, please tell me. Charlie In Underworld is a wonderful game and is probably my favorite game at the moment!

Mary’s Thoughts on “Obi-Wan Kenobi” Episodes III-V
Thanks to life, I haven’t had the chance to watch the three most recent episodes, so I got caught up on them today. Since a handful of you asked for my thoughts, I thought I’d post them in a comprehensive list. Needless to say spoilers for Episodes III–V below the cut!
Part III
I’ve been loving that they’ve peppered in Obi-Wan trying to make contact with Qui-Gon; since they alluded to it at the end of RotS, and we know he eventually DOES since he becomes one with the Force… I’ve certainly appreciated that they’ve kept up his struggle to find a way to contact his former master.
Obi-Wan being a little snappy is an interesting side of him we didn’t get to see Ewan McGregor play with much. We got more of that with James Arnold Taylor’s portrayal of Obi-Wan in TCW, where we got so much more characterization for the character. Seeing Ewan get the chance to bring that side of Obi-Wan to life in a live-action portrayal is a really cool marrying of the two sides of SW media.
I adore how much of a trouble maker Leia is for Obi-Wan. Just like Anakin, she’s putting him through his paces, not listening, coming up with her own plan, all while he sighs and runs after her. Like father like daughter! Also, I just adore young Leia all around, she’s perfectly adorable, a total sass ball, and smart as a whip. It’s great that we get to see a glimpse at her beginnings, since we got so little of it in the OG trilogy. We know a little about Luke’s upbringing with Owen and Beru, but really getting a taste of Leia’s life brings happiness to my heart.
Also loving we’re seeing more of the Stormtroopers. They’re not just automaton soldiers who always miss their shots, now. We get to hear emotion in their voices, see more individuality amongst them. Also, lady stormtroopers!! Woohoo!!
I adore Indira Varma, I love Tala. Because, as was hinted in Rogue One, and as we got with Finn in the sequel trilogy, there are those who are part of the Empire that don’t believe in what they stand for. Tala being a spy for what seems to be the starts of the Rebellion/helping smuggle Force Sensitives and Jedi whilst using her Imperial Officer status as cover? A great addition to this period of time for the Galaxy.
Obi-Wan being soft and gentle towards Leia is everything. As I saw someone else say somewhere, it now makes all the more sense why she names her son Ben.
MENTIONS OF QUINLAN!! Connection to the Clone Wars?? Yes please!
Leia loving droids made me think that she, Anakin, and Luke totally would’ve built droids together in a time line where he didn’t go Dark Side.
The cinematography and acting of Obi-Wan clearly sensing Anakin’s presence had me absolutely frozen, it was phenomenal. I suspect it hit Obi-Wan so hard, not just because it’s been years since he’s felt his presence, but because he’s only just started to open himself back up to the Force, it must’ve hit him like a damn speeder bike.
VADER. I… quite honestly… love how absolutely goddamn reckless and ruthless we see Vader/Anakin act (Force choking, snapping, and dragging folks). We see Vader all collected and cool in the OG trilogy; he’s older and has had practice and experience. But this is still a pretty decently young Vader. He’s still got that heated drive he had prior to being put in the suit, and we see that boiling over as he tries to exploit others’ pain as a way to drag Obi-Wan out of hiding… because he knows that Obi-Wan will not stand to see others hurt. I just love it. Love that Hayden is getting a chance to vindicate his role as Anakin and Vader.
Something else I’ve really appreciated is the struggle Obi-Wan is having with re-connecting to, and using the Force. How genuinely out of practice he is. It’s… not what we would ever expect to see of him. He’s dangerously, inexplicably vulnerable. He can’t rely on old impulses, he can’t rely on the Force to guide him. He absolutely hasn’t picked up and fought with his lightsaber in years. Which is what makes that sequence with Obi-Wan and Vader in the desert so wonderful. We get to see Vader, who has done nothing but wield his blade and the Force since his rebirth as a Sith, versus Obi-Wan, who is stumbling to hold his own against him… where he once was able to beat him in sparring sessions.
Anakin will forever be dramatic. Him dragging Obi-Wan through the fire was just that, though also totally and completely harrowing.
Part IV
Opening scene where they switch back and forth between Obi-Wan and Anakin in the bacta tanks make my inner cinematographer, and my love for symbolism, very pleased.
Poor Leia being abducted and taken in for questioning…. Again. But she holds her own so well, and it’s clear what she’s been learning on Alderaan has been helping her out immensely. Also, I can see these instances being a driving force to really throw herself into studying politics and tactics.
Very glad we get to see another side of Reva in this interrogation scene; how she tries to use a softer side of herself to manipulate and persuade.
Getting to see Obi-Wan trying to actively reconnect to the Force and strengthen said connection again is still something I appreciate; also love that with each time Obi-Wan wields his lightsaber again, his old techniques are resurfacing and he’s getting better and better.
Also, intrigued by the fact that Tala insists that the security officer call her ‘sir,’ just like how the clones called everyone ‘sir’… is it just a non-gender conforming term in the galaxy? Or is it something that Anakin carried over?? I dunno, I found it interesting.
DEATH TROOPER!! Really love that they’re taking bits and pieces introduced in other pieces of SW media and peppering it in to other pieces to make everything cohesive and connect, creating a more intertwined world.
Did I mention that I love they’re mentioning lots of other planets that pop up in other pieces of SW media? No? Well I do. Jabiim delighted me, given it was a big part of the Clone Wars comic series. Florrum getting mentioned made me giddy.
Scruffy Obi-Wan in a long tail coat and Imperial hat looks surprisingly good.
Part V
THE FLASHBACK. Okay, okay, okay, there’s so much to say about it. This show said ‘vindication for Hayden’s portrayal of Anakin’ and really followed through on it. They gave us a snippet of a moment before AotC, and it was perfect. We got to see Anakin in, perhaps, his cockiest era. In a time where he was really very focused on just… winning. On using brute force to win, on putting the idea of defense and mercy to the side. We have Obi-Wan, trying to teach him otherwise, trying to guide him away from that dangerous path (and Anakin pulling faces at said guidance like the teenager he was). NOT TO MENTION the visual echoes between that sparring session and their final battle on Mustafar. Beautifully done. Everything about these flashback snippets was wonderful. (It was also wonderful to see the terrible padawan buzz cut and the great big Jedi mullet again)
Obi-Wan going into Jedi General mode to rally the people to listen was wonderful, a good wake-up call to the fact that the last time he was actually out and about in the galaxy that WAS his role. A commander of soldiers, trying to keep the people safe.
The fact that Vader absolutely exploits what he knows about Obi-Wan to his own advantage is SO on point, especially for this point in time. He’s doing whatever he can to get to Obi, and he doesn’t care what the consequences are.
I just… I KNEW that Reva had been a padawan!! Just knew it!! But what I didn’t bank on was the fact that she was just trying to get into Vader’s good graces to merc him. THAT is an interesting twist, and I really, really liked that. I also think that explains where a lot of Reva’s rage comes from. She genuinely does appear to abhor the Obi-Wan for not being there to stop Anakin, that’s no lie. And there is genuine rage behind that. I think that upon a rewatch of earlier episodes after watching this one, a lot more of Reva’s character will fall into place and become less 2D.
But also, go Obi for pulling what, on some level, I absolutely see as an Anakin move––agreeing to surrender, just to make a deal with the enemy. These two men learned so much from each other.
I’ve got the funniest feeling that this fight on Jabiim is going to be a catalyst for the starts of the Rebellion…
It’s looking like we’re heading back to Tatooine for Part VI, and I’m super interested to see where this last episode goes!! All Star Wars stories have to return to Tatooine…
Bonus Note
This show has definitely reinvigorated my love of Star Wars, and my want to write for Obi-Wan and Elara again. I’ve got… so many ideas on how to incorporate this series into Balance!!

i watched rogue one for the first time with @randomsingingkoala so here is my review that literally no one asked for because i have THOUGHTS. obviously spoilers if you haven’t seen the movie. (i take one (1) film class and suddenly here we are-)
everyone knows that I am a Star Wars Hater. there is not a special effect, costuming, prop, set design, dialogue, and plot hole that i will not find and make fun of. i am also an outlier in the star wars fandom because revenge of the sith is my favorite movie BY FAR. this being said, holy shit. there was something about this movie that was so quintessentially star wars and yet so different from all the other films and that’s what made it good.
i appreciated the constant idea of hope and how resistances are built on hope. i also like how it acknowledges what they’re leading too, which episode 4: a new hope. (i see what you did disney).
There was not an unnecessarily long and drawn out lightsaber battle (and the only time we saw a lightsaber was with darth vader, which felt appropriate). it highlighted the actual skills and will of resistance fighters who didn’t rely on the force or their weapon to win. it also acknowledged this moral high ground the resistance tends to stand on in all the other films, despite the fact that the resistance and rebels also have blood on their hands. while revenge of the sith is certainly darker, this one was appropriate for the timeline. there isn’t another film that shows the sacrifice and human cost as well as this one does. if someone dies in a star wars film, it’s only one or two, and it’s always a well-liked to character to show the personal cost of the war. but here, everyone we meet gives their life for a cause they believe in dying for.
the quips made this movie. the bickering and arguing and squabbling between leia, han, and luke and later poe, finn, and rey takes away from the films. although not everyone always got along, it was in funny quips and one-liners that added comedic relief to a movie that so desperately needed it (k-2 had me in tears).
we’ve also never traveled as much which i appreciated. fleshing out the timeline and star wars universe was a nice change from other movies where they stay on one planet the majority of the time.
i’ve never been so engaged in a star wars film. the movie didn’t feel 2+ hours long, like they usually do. they drag on and on and on but this was fast-paced and engaging. i literally couldn’t hate this movie if i tried.
revenge of the sith will forever remain my favorite, if only for the acting godsend that is hayden christensen, but this came pretty damn close.

DC Dimensions project plan- The Flash: Abigail Akana (Vol. 1)
Tumblr media
This series is not an assured project. It is a concept that can still be changed or scrapped.
Synopsis
After the annihilation of her home universe, Abigail Akana wakes up to find herself in a new life. She is still the Flash, but there are differences. Her grandfather, formerly cursed to the Reverse-Flash, is now normal and the person she comes to for advice. Her former life seems to be a dream, until a villainous stranger called the Psycho-Pirate challenges the structure of the world. Now she must face new enemies unlike the ones she faced before.
Characters
Abigail Akana/The Flash - In DC Future, she became the Flash following Barry Allen's death. In DC Dimensions, she is the Flash of the Beyond dimension. She still remembers her previous life in the DC Future universe.
Roger Hayden/Psycho-Pirate - A metahuman with multiverse awareness. He works with Mecha Flash to ruin Abigail's life. His drive is that his life is now worse and he wants her to suffer for it.
Ryan Dorman/Mecha Flash - In the DC Future universe, he was an engineer named Ryan Dash who built a robot that could keep up with Abigail's speed. In the Beyond dimension of the DC Dimensions universe, he was obsessed with being as fast as the Flash and turned himself into a cyborg to be faster. Now his is Abigail's arch nemesis.
Akana Hikiro - Abigail's grandfather and a scientific genius. In the Beyond dimension of the DC Future universe, he was a Japanese scientist who was pulled into the Negative Speed Force in a lab accident. It corrupted him and transformed him into the new Reverse-Flash. In DC Dimensions, he is no longer a speedster and works at S.T.A.R. Labs. He also lives with his family in Central City.
Lydia Snart - The daughter of Leonard Snart and best friend of Abigail. In the DC Future universe, she became the new Captain Cold after her father was killed by the new Abra Kadabra. In the Beyond dimension of the DC Dimensions universe, she is still friends with Abigail and never took up the mantle.
Leonard Snart - A reformed criminal and friend to Barry Allen.
Other Information
The series takes place in the Beyond dimension of the DC Dimensions universe.
The "DC Future universe" that I keep referencing is a previous attempt at a shared fan fiction universe set in the present but focused on legacy heroes. I cancelled it because I did not like how the world was set up. Abigail Akana was the Flash in one of these series called "The All-New Flash," but it was cancelled before I finished volume 1.
The story was originally meant to take some inspiration from Flashpoint.

It’s fun comparing my PCs stats using the ability score descriptions Paizo gave for Pathfinder 1e. Especially throwing Draven into the mix with her mythic powerhouse stats…despite her not always managing to live up to her stats due to her less than stellar luck (in universe and in meta).
Roland and Draven are both wiser than a Great Wyrm golden dragon, with Draven being *so* maxxed out in wisdom that she’s literally off the charts at 40 (even if we took away her status as Iomedae’s herald she’d still be off the charts at 36). Ileark follows them up at less wise than a Great Wyrm but still “basically prescient” at 26. My least wise character on the other hand, Sai, comes in at an 8 “forgets or fails to consider options”. Considering her go-to plans are “do what Hayden does”, “hex someone”, or “befriend the fuzzy animal”…yeah.
Strength is another fun one, because I forget who has absolute superhuman strength sometimes. Obviously Umbrolus at 24 without rage and 32 with rage. On the chart he goes from “pinnacle of brawn, able to out-lift several people” to “amongst the strongest creatures to have ever lives” just by getting a little feisty. Draven, however, always surprises me by also having a 24 base strength, and her spell Mighty Strength can get her up to 32 also, so she’s basically Umbrolus with high AC at that point. Roland having 20 strength feels like it should be surprising since he uses mostly ranged options, but remembering I originally built him as a mercenary sword fighter and he ended up fighting as a ranged spell caster organically over time as he grew into his cleric role is why his strength has gone mostly unused. That and low HP. He’s just really squishy. None of my characters in play are truly low strength. I have a bunch of 12 strength characters (Sai, Kiyo, Ileark), but nothing currently below that. Unless we go really far back to my first generation Pathfinder characters, in which case Jeffry and Jack had a 10 strength, although Jack beefed up his strength with mutagens.
Constitution would in theory be fun, but in action you can’t dump constitution without making a frail character who will go down in two hits *not naming any names, Rich* so none of my characters dip low enough in constitution to be noticeable, except again Jeffry and Jack because they were some of my first characters and Jeffry was supposed to be sickly so I made his constitution low without realizing it would affect his HP going forward for the rest of the game.
Like constitution, dex is often hard to justify dumping because it affects AC. I have a dhampir paladin I built with 8 dex who I imagine has a limp from an old injury, but I haven’t played her and honestly since my metamour played Berin a dhampir Paladin’s been done now so I probably won’t play her because it’ll feel like a rehash. Ironically even though Roland relies on ranged attacks his dex is his lowest stat at 14. He just relies on the fact he’s using touch attacks to get past AC.
Intelligence can be dumped, especially since it’s so much fun to play an absolute idiot. Enter Lucien, who started with 8 intelligence. He has 10 now because of a headband the party felt he *really* should wear, to which he immediately realized he’d made some very poor decisions after putting it on. As for my smartest character…well by a landslide it’s Jack with a 35 because he’s a super genius and also cheated by reading a book that made him smarter. But of my more recent characters it’s actually Sai at 23. Let’s hear it for high int low on wis. According to the chart she is as smart as a Great Wyrm Red Dragon, while Jack is just off the chart past a Great Wyrm Golden Dragon. Everyone wants to measure themselves against dragons these days…
Also Draven managed to get an 18 “genius level intelligence” by doing absolutely nothing. Friggin lazy mythic heroes.
Then there’s charisma. This is Draven’s lowest stat which is still really good for a regular person (16: popular, receives greetings and conversations on the street). That scans, she is a big damn hero, of course she’d be popular. Now…I don’t really play charisma casters or the face generally. I have a face/charisma caster lined up for Reign of Winter. He’s just starting out at level 1 with 18 base charisma, more than mythic Draven has already and equal to Ileark currently. He would be “immediately likeable by many people, subject of favorable talk”…whether that ends up true in action or not, we’ll see. He’s a bit of a manipulative bastard. As for lowest charisma…well Draven had an 8 for the longest time but I guess we can’t count former ability scores when she ended up at a 16 by the end between headbands and mythic boosts. Unfortunately Kiyo has an 11 which is something I’m trying to fix for their Blackjack persona. Umbrolus has a 9 charisma. He’s just a poor clueless puppy, he doesn’t know what social cues are or what he’s supposed to be adding to most conversations.
