Oh yeah, I wrote a fanfiction. Am still writing a fanfiction. An Avatar one - the blue one, not the element one. Two chapters rn. A third one coming. It's about repressed feelings, pining, friends to lovers, my own self insert superspecial and cool OC who deserves kisses and uh.... Power of friendship? Idk. Read it. It's dope as hell.

having rewatched avatar wotw, here's some little quaritch things that slipped past me the first time
Tumblr media
- spider hop-crawling under quaritch when he's discussing plans with the military unit; him letting that happen, and one can only assume he's internally rather happy to let his 'son' fuck around bc it makes his heart swell just a lil bit
- his cheekbones
- the fact that even for an avatar/na'vi he's built. compare him to the og 2009 scary fighter tsu'tey and quaritch is certified thick
- his little raspy laugh he does when he's either 1: patronising someone, 2: pissed, or 3: genuinely impressed or 4: all 3
- the intense look that settles into his complete expression in the midst of battle; he's def one of those ppl with a work personality and leisure personality and keeps them separate
- he's always liked spider since he saw him. the threats of punishment aren't serious, in that he'll certainly do them, but he'd do them for spider's own good, not out of maliciousness (which quaritch is 100% able to do if he pleases)
- that little 'eheh' tongue sticky-outy thing he does in the space helicopter
- he's always/oddly more inclined to ppl when they backtalk and resist him. the fondness could translate as seeing someone as a worthy foe (sully), someone needing to be taught a lesson (spider), someone who merely entertains him (the arrogant whale goo harvester), or someone that challenges him in a stimulating and interesting way (taming/bonding his ikran)
- he calls his dragon cupcake. therefore i too could be called cupcake

Every time i've rewatched Avatar (2009) I'm always baffled by how many small details and easter eggs are hidden within the film. And I keep circling back to one of them.
Ever noticed how, when Jake was completing his rite of passage by "taming" Bob, Neytiri says something along the lines of "He will try to kill you" to answer Jake's question of "How will I know if he chooses me". Of course you have, but have you noticed how the meaning of this particular sentence can be applied to many of the key moments? Like when Neytiri first saw Jake, she tried to kill him, right? And look how that ended up. Or when Jake and Neytiri were having their first flight after Jake completed his Iknimaya, and the great Toruk tried to kill them, or more specifically, him.
Might not be of much worth, might just be me overanalysing, but I thought it was pretty cool!!

I almost always seem to have the minority opinion on media. And I'm really sick of it now.
I've been on a Fire Emblem kick again lately. But unfortunately, as much as I love all of the Fire Emblem games on 3DS? That's approximately how much I hate Fire Emblem: Three Houses on Switch. ....which is, of course, the most popular/successful game in the series to date.
Tumblr media
Okay, look: In Fire Emblem, I really like the strategy-combat stuff and the storylines + support conversations. THAT'S the tasty meat. Anything else? Is irritating busywork to me. So if I spend between 2/3-3/4 of a supposed Fire Emblem game doing the other shit? You've crafted a great recipe to make me feel like I'm MOSTLY doing stuff I hate, and thusly I shall hate your game. And that's the START of the issue with Three Houses. (I must resist getting into the protagonist being a mute cipher OR how multiple side activities require blind luck or a guide to succeed OR bitching about the weak battle map design... oh shit oh SHIT I'M OUTING MYSELF, RUN FOR IT MARTY!)
By comparison, this year's Fire Emblem Engage feels like a step back in the right direction! I'm playing it a lot right now, and I'm mostly having a good time! Still more busywork than I want in these games, but it's at least back on the side of "more good than bad." So of course, if I look this game up and read any fan reviews or watch any videos... they're all about how disapppointing and sucky it is in comparison.
God. Of COURSE they are.
I really don't know why the advances they made with Fire Emblem Echoes haven't carried into the newer games. 3D dungeons you can explore for items and enemy encounters in a Persona-like fashion? Genius! Make it the template going forward! ..... What's that? Not even most fans bothered to buy or play that game??? So no one fucking cares about that feature?
.........fucking hell. Of COURSE they don't.
See, this is how it always goes for me. If I fall in love with a movie, I'll later learn it's either hated or ignored by its own fandom or by the masses at large. If I get emotionally invested in some weird game and its characters? There's a high probability that almost no one played it. And those who did? They didn't like it as much as me. If I think a game is really annoying and full of boring shit? Great reviews, huge fandom, etc.
I could make an utterly wild fucking list of things I like/love that other people hate. And the same is true in reverse. Sometimes, even when I agree with the hate on something, I don't agree with ANY of the reasons for WHY other people hate it!
Before you ask: It doesn't matter whether I know the "majority opinion" in advance of seeing/experiencing something, or I have no clue wht people think of something until I look it up later. I've gone to many midnight premieres of movies that weren't yet screened for critics, and I typically always wind up on the wrong side of the majority. I've played obscure games just because the premise sounded good, fallen in love with them, gone looking for a fandom... and found out that everybody thinks said game is utter shit.
So I'm not just being contrarian; this shit comes NATURALLY.
However, I should make some caveats about this weirdness clear:
Sometimes I feel like I'm on the wrong side of JUST the outspoken part of the audience... but there's evidence to support that my own stance maybe ISN'T so weird. For example: My family and I have always loved 2009's Avatar. We never were dressing up like the goddamn Na'vi or anything so fanatical, but we've rewatched it many times over the years. We regularly quote it to each other around the house. And the massive success of that movie (and its recent sequel) seems to back up that this admiration/enjoyment isn't THAT crazy or esoteric, RIGHT? It's just that the Internet is extremely outspoken about Avatar supposedly being lame and totally unmemorable. Remember how people in 2022 kept being like "You can't remember even three character names from that movie! Nobody quotes it!" and shit like that? I was one of the people going "I will list you NINE characters and spew DOZENS of quotes at you."
Tumblr media
My "minority opinion" thing only stretches so far. It's not like I thought The Room was the best movie I'd ever seen or angrily felt Tears of the Kingdom was the worst game I ever played. That would be beyond "minority" and more "MADNESS." There's a limit to this weirdness; it has to be within a certain degree of reason, you know? Some things just aren't POSSIBLE to totally flip the script on. Birdemic will always be embarrassingly terrible, and I refuse to believe anyone would legitimately feel otherwise. OK?
This isn't completely universal, either. There are always exceptions where I actually wind up on the right side of the majority. They're just... rarer than the other thing, honestly.
It gets exhausting to always feel like I'm on the defensive or at worst, utterly alone in how I think among the larger community. I don't want this anymore.
But I don't get a say, clearly. I'm just going to keep doing this. I'm going to go see a movie on opening weekend and think "Wow, what an awful piece of shit" only to find that DECADES LATER, people still cite it as one of the best movies in its genre. I'm going to adore a modern revival of a classic comic book, then I'll go online and find that it's widely considered an abomination before god. This is who I am. It's just REALLY tiring to be here.

I don't usually publish anything, but I have found this out, and It is now my need to share it with the rest of the planet.
Rewatching Avatar (2009) I have found a small detail that maybe others didn't notice.
Neteyam dies by a shot in his chest, after coming back to save Spider, he gets shot by one of the marins and he spend like 15 minuts dying. And against all their hopes he dies and they end up having an awesome fight against the sky people and end up winning.
Tumblr media
Does that sound familiar? Because it is!
Do you remember how Tsutey died in the first movie? He got shot, in hist chest, after getting in a human rocket, and while fighting them. He spends like 15 minutes dying, and everyone, including Jake and Neitiry, gather around him cannot save him, watching him die. And after this the have an awesome fight against the sky people and end up winning.
Tumblr media
It is the exact same thing.
Neitiry an Jake had to watch their first born die the same exact way one of their friends or even best friend did years ago.
After all they has suffered, and after the war, they thought the finished, they thought that everything had ended. And after watching how the sky people come back to Pandora, AGAIN, they hope that things end up fine.
They leave their home after realising that they cannot protect everyone, they leave their homeland, the place they have raised their kids, for the sake of protecting them.
And they truly believed that that was it, but no, the sky people found them because they wanted to help their daughter after literally nearly dying, and now they are fighting against them all, again, fighting the same people, again, having them injure their loved ones again, and even watching them kill their loved ones, AGAIN, just to end up winnig, without them, again .
Yes, I think they had a dejavu when they saw their son shot in the center of his chest, and I firmly believe that their world went down, not only because they lost their first child in such brutal way (which is more than enough), bjt because they actually saw it coming, and they praided to Eywa to stop it from happening again, and it still happened, they saw their son dye just like their best friend from years ago did, the exxacg same thing.
And just to finish: a lot of people from the fandom say that Neteyam was actually a reincarnation of Tsutey. Which would men that he died the same way twice.
Good night.

Rewatching the 2009 Avatar film, I've realized that I've been watching it as a girl. And don't get me wrong, I've been watching it over and over for the past 12 years and still at those times I've been watching it as a girl.
But bruh, watching now (2022)...... I now realize I am watching it as a woman. And how the hell did we let it slide all these years, the sexy character designs of the avatars.

I was just reminded that Zuko has a whole ass dragon and was wondering what flying would be like
Just sitting in front of Zuko, his arms wrapping around you to hold onto Druk's horns. Back pressed to his chest as you feel his head leaning against yours. The wind brushing past you as you see the outline of the city and surrounding towns
Was partially inspired by the fact I rewatched avatar 2009 and want my own ikran
-🌸
Perfect date idea, hands down . Or maybe Zuko just wanted to get away with you tagging along because honestly life is stressful. You guys could be just observing the city below, being all cutesy and romantic and flirting to each other . He’ll place soft kisses over your neck and face every now and then . Or he could command Druk to do a variety of tricks that has you shook and scared af LOL, but Zuko reassures you that you’re in safe hands as long as you’re with him .
I could never personally ride an ikran man, I’d shit my pants . (😓)

1, 11 and 14 I love your unpopular opinions bangers truly
Thankkk you bestie I simply have opinions and I was never taught to shut up as a child.
Favorite moment?
This one is hard because there are so many great ones! For Avatar (2009), I love that scene where Jake and Neytiri are describing the way they were both flying to each other. It's just such a cute little moment to me, and as someone who only recently became hyperfixed on this series and saw both movies in a chill and non-invested way first, that scene was such a pleasant surprise on rewatch.
For Way of Water, I have a cute one and a not so cute one. I love that one shot of Tuk, Spider, Kiri, and Lo'ak crossing the Hallelujah Mountains to get to the forest before their kidnapping. I love how comfortable and playful they all are, just fucking around that high and on their way to a warzone sksksk. I just love the fuckery it implies they get up to on the regular, I want a feature length film of their shenanigans.
The not so fun scene is the stand off with Quaritch versus Neytiri on the sinking ship at the end. Ugh, it's just such a great idea on the writers part. It's so shocking but yet, so expected at the same time. Avatar is not known for it's storytelling, and I think that scene and those characters are just top notch for them. It puts your heart in your throat right away, and the kids pleading for each other never fails to get me. I love good complex writing and tbh it's not this series' strong suit, so this scene will always be my favorite.
11. An Unpopular opinion?
I'm already blocked by some creators in this fandom, so I try to stay spicy lol. I like to live rent free with you all. Hmm, I guess if you've been on my blog for a while this one might not be surprising but I do not believe that Quaritch (or any of the recoms) should be redeemed. Colonialism, racism, and genocide shouldn't be normalized that way. I just do not understand the fascination for redeeming villains who have done inexplicably evil actions without properly addressing them. For me the bar is fairly simple: Genocide, abuse, racism, rape, and just general war crimes are just like a nah. And people who say that a character has past trauma and that is why; well, duh bestie. That is an explanation, not an excuse. Many people who live with abuse and trauma actually don't become abusers and war criminals themselves; look at our main characters. We want to promote breaking the cycle guys, not perpetuating it. This is something I'm very passionate about. Expect better, from your characters and from your writers. If they can't adequately tackle what it takes to atone for such actions, they shouldn't try.
I also do not understand this argument for Quaritch, he does not have any past trauma for you guys to excuse him with?? We don't know his backstory. Don't project, read and watch critically.
But, here's a bonus unpopular take because you've all heard this one from me before: I don't understand the Rotxo hype, or the Rotxo and Kiri hype. My man Rotxo, while a cute little guy, is a budget Spider guys, without any of the character. Shipping him with Kiri is just for hating Spider and the complexities of him. Rotxo is literally the "stray cat" of Tonowari's family, where are his parents, it's never explained why he is there at any point. He's there at the final battle at Three Brother's Rocks and Lo'ak never even tells Jake he's there skskskks. Love him but him over Spider confuses the fuck outta me.
14. Hopes for Avatar 3?
I answered this perviously, but I will add another thing: I want more Mo'at content I am obsessed with her. Check out my Mo'at tag for me obsessing over Mo'at.

i’ve always had a love for the avatar franchise (the james cameron one) since the first movie came out in 2009, i was still quite young but i rewatched it countless times- so much love has gone into the series with its world building and stuff like the flora and fauna and the fully functional Na’vi language! (that i’m currently learning :] )) over the years i’ve learned so much about Pandora as a world...
i find myself longing for it, the bioluminescent jungles and the gorgeous glowing tree of souls, along with just my fascination for the animals (i’m a huge zoology nerd) and Na’vi culture as a whole!
i’m hesitant to say i’m a fictionkin,, i’ve never felt any shifts of any kind of Na’vi, nor do i think it was a past life or anything like that for my experience,,maybe a copinglink??? ahhhh i don’t know, sorry for rambling!

I'm going to be rewatching Avatar 2009 this weekend (probably Saturday) and was wondering if it would be incredibly irritating if I did a live-blog session with my genuine reactions.
Granted, I've seen the film more times than I can remember but I just thought it might be funny for some of you to see me get pissed at Quaritch and gush about the environment for 2 hours.
what dya think?
