Do you know about my free web based sketch app that rotates random pose references? 🤔
Tumblr media
It's called AdorkaStock Sketch and you can access it on desktop or mobile. It will adjust to fit your screen! On mobile you can scroll down to see the options.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are currently just over 2,000 poses in rotation with more coming. You can change the timer, skip poses, sort with filters, or try predefined class modes.
The site is completely free and thanks to my Patrons I was recently able to remove third-party ads! If you turn off your ad blockers while using the site you will only see my own ads.
You can also make a free account which will allow you to collect a favorites list and set sketching goals.
Please check it out and use it as often as you need to for pose browsing, gesture warm ups, or long drawing sessions (just hit pause on any pose!) Hope it's super useful for you. Happy drawing! 🎨✨

Sheezy.Art
Tumblr media
Sheezy opens today for 250 new members for their beta at 2 PM EST along with a stream :3c and I think if things go well they plan to have more openings every friday??
https://sheezy.blog/registrations-open-tomorrow
https://github.com/Sheezy-Art/sheezy-hub/wiki
The past week has been nothing but lovely since coming back and I'm so excited to meet more people 💕its like a beautiful blend of old DA, tumblr side blogs, TH's pretty customizable pages, and bluesky's custom feeds. They're against AI and NFTs too. Obviously its still in beta so there will be bugs that need to be worked out, but so far everything seems incredible
currently there's a limit of being able to post 5 images every 24 hours, but honestly?? that's been amazing so people don't flood each other out too much trying to catch back up. lets you easily space out your uploads and find others easily
I really hope it continues to thrive and everything goes well. Its been so long since I've really had a place where I felt like I fit. I hated twitter with a passion and struggled to get into tumblr since I'm not really someone who reblogs funny stuff since that's not what I'm here for. The only way to really get noticed is to hope and pray someone more popular reblogs your stuff which :'D. I still absolutely love toyhou.se and have been enjoying bluesky so far, but they aren't exactly meant to be art gallery sites and have that kind of community.
also if u do decide to join I highly recommend TweakSheezy its super nice for tweaks you might wanna make :D
screenshot of my profile layout to give an idea of what pages can look like...mines a bit of a mess rn and I need to mess around with HTML more but LMAO also you get a little pagedoll :3
Tumblr media
the browsing area. I have my maturity level set to general, but there's ones for mature and explicit. You can choose to have mature content blurred as well even if you have it switched on
Tumblr media
you can have little custom pixel icons by your username that stay with it where ever u post :3
Tumblr media
you can also make silly little pin boards of things ur interested in, art you've gotten, or just random memes if you wanted to its so funny how I've been seeing people use them
Tumblr media
I turned mine into a shrimp tank that people can draw a shrimp to put them in the tank, and it leads you to their profile when you click them (bc yes you can link credits to the images!!!)

My Top 3 Picks For Websites Better Than Twitter For Artists To Use
(any website is better than twitter but here's my favourites so far :) )
Honorable mention: Pixiv, since a lot of people connect with their favorite Japanese/chinese &, Korean artists through twitter, I thought I'd share that a lot of the ones I follow tend to be up on pixiv :)
Pillowfort: Allows adult content. Has an invite feature only to be able to join, but people, including myself, are always offering them
Itaku: it's got its own unique little thing going on. Allows adult content and seems to currently have an active userbase
Newgrounds: This is definitely the most creator oriented out of them all as it's got seperate categories for each kind of artistic expression. Has specific filtering for each kind of level of adult content, and when searching you can filter in only nsfw, or only sfw. Very neat website. Even has specific features for musical arts :)

Websites To Use For Posting Art Instead Of Deviantart(or twitter or instagram they're all equally garbage.) Written In A Passive Aggressive Tone
NOTE: WEBSITES ARE ONLY DEAD IF YOU KEEP REFUSING TO USE THEM. THE ART COMMUNITY KEEPS BEING HANDED NEW SITES TO TRY AND KEEPS NITPICKING FOR EXTREMELY PETTY AND NOT REALLY MATTERING REASONS SO I'M NOT TRYING TO WRITE OUT THESE LISTS AND BE NICE ANYMORE'
BE THE SOLUTION OR STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT TWITTER/DA
Tumblr: People left when adult content was banned, but the art community very much stayed thriving. With porn addicts relegated to other sites because to them, a website is unusable if there's no porn, you've got a place to be squeaky clean and not weird on for once. Feed in chronological order. if you contribute to the cringe here I hope you cant afford a new computer when it comes for you.
Newgrounds: allows adult content, really no room for twitter discourse and back and fourth squabbles, feed in chronological order. Use it.
Artfol: app only currently, website is in beta, chrono order. Literally has art in the name. allows adult content i think, probably, has a custom page for commissions
itaku: custom galleries, allows adult content, has a custom page for comissions. Closest thing to deviantart, go to following selection to see chronological order
pixiv: avoid going tag digging. just post. avert your eyes. do not listen to what they whisper. Feed in chronological order
youtube: okay hear me out youtube shorts you could just post short doodle reels to and get views since youtube is promoting short form content and because it's not tiktok it's good, go to your subscribers page to see things in chronolgoical order
tiktok: okay hear me out tiktoks you could just post short doodle reels to and get views since tiktok is for short form content and because it's not youtube it's good
pillowfort: its tumblr but without the undesirables and allows 18+ content. Porn addicts rejoice! I use it.

xX Wired Wormz Xx Homepage Layout Concepts
Tumblr media Tumblr media
buying the new url has coincided with some improvements in my understanding of web design. the old slim3yw0rmz.quest layout wasn't bad, but it was lacking in many areas, it was pretty inconsistent in terms of color palette, line weight, overall style, etc. it was as if everything was a placeholder (which honestly most items were)
my goal for wiredwormz.quest is to make the experience neat and consistent, making sure to keep everything in-line with the aesthetics set by the new logo and warning page. my current task is creating a background image with borders for all of the external assets to be layered over top of. previously these were just kinda, plopped into place by using a table, but now with using CSS i can have something a little more flashy, yay technology !! i've been using this screencap of nick.com circa 2006 as reference for how i should be arranging my content, and using some of the tech from invader zim as inspiration for the border designs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok now im gonna go play sonic adventure 2 :)
remember: sites like https://wiredwormz.quest are made possible by websurferz like you :)

website thoughts
Since moving apartments, I've been feeling a kind of spring cleaning urge for all of my things physical and it turns out, digital. Since my physical belongings are in unmanageable mountain of family heirlooms in the form of bankers boxes full of loose photographs, and artifacts from my grandmother's childhood that nobody can identify but also nobody ever threw out, I've been feeling like I should try something a little bit more manageable first.
By that I mean, my digital life. I have maintained a personal website on the internet since 1997; for the majority of that time, my personal website has served primarily as a portfolio of my artwork. However, that's not necessary right now, for a couple of reasons:
A) Careerwise, I'm working as a salaried, permanent art director at a videogame company. I'm not only not currently looking for a job, but my prior approach to jobhunting, having a collection of examples of my concept art and illustration, probably isn't the best way to find another salaried art director job in future. While it might be one part of that hunt, I suspect I will also need examples of the finished games, as well as all the other things people use to get real jobs like references, etc. This means that a personal portfolio site won't be the make or break in my future job hunt at this time.
B) Perhaps even more importantly, though, I don't know that a portfolio of my prior work is going to be a particularly accurate demonstration of what my work going forward is going to look like. Since my arm surgery, I'm learning to draw with my left hand, and since I don't have anywhere near the physical control over it that I did over my dominant hand, my approach to making art is being forced to change. And it's very early days, right now I'm still teaching myself to write legibly, and building the muscles it takes to do that. Line control and mark making with appeal are simply not on the short-term schedule. So much as I am proud of, and attached to my prior work, my prior style, and my prior process, it feels dishonest to promise those to future clients. Or to myself, really. So a portfolio format just asks a lot of questions I have no answers to at this time.
Other reasons for having my work on the internet include selling it, which I certainly love to do, but between moving and my arm and paperwork, right now I'm just selling PDFs in a pay what you want capacity on my gumroad store. I do hope to get back into designing products and selling playmaps and so on, but it's the right choice right now to keep that on hold.
So I'm a bit at a loss for what to do with my personal website, is the TLDR of all this. I really got out of the habit of blogging or writing personal thoughts on the Internet when we entered the everything is problematic phase of cultural conversations; I would like to reclaim that but it might be safer to do so in the less personal/more anonymous space of cohost or tumblr or such. I'm certainly curious to hear people's thoughts on that!
One angle I had thought of was approaching my website as an archive, as opposed to a portfolio; I can be a bit obsessive about tracking the chronology of things, why not take advantage of that? But I don't know if that has any interest to anybody aside from myself, though I guess that's reason enough to do it. I had considered blogging about the process of learning to use my nondominant hand/retraining my dominant hand once we know what its final capacity will be, and I have been keeping personal notes on all of this, but I don't think this is something I can share publicly in real-time. It's a bit intense. Maybe years down the road I'll be able to condense it into a simpler narrative that I'm comfortable sharing?
Unfortunately all of this is tied up in my process of relearning to create right now; I'm not sure that I really need outside help figuring this out, as much as I need just the space to dump thoughts out of my head. But if you do have thoughts, or stuff you'd like to see from me, or questions, certainly let me know!
Thanks for reading this hot mess!

Please reblog if possible. I’m redesigning my art website, but with everything so decentralized these days, I’m trying to figure out to what extent I should redesign it.
Reblog for a bigger sample size please

My Top 3 Picks For Websites Better Than Twitter "X" For Artists To Use
(any website is better than twitter)
Bluesky. Nsfw? Yes. Art gallery support? No. Invite code? No. Works EXACTLY like twitter as of right now basically. You can even have multiple accounts logged in at once like twitter.
Pillowfort. Nsfw? Yes. Art gallery support? No. This one is the same situation as bluesky except it works similar to tumblr
Tumblr. Nsfw? Complicated. Artist nudity and adult content are allowed so long as filtered but explicit depictions are prohibited. Gallery feature?: No, but you can use tags as a filtering system for your work, reblogs, rambles and character specifications fandoms etc. and install a custom theme on your blog that people will view when they visit your profile.
Newgrounds. Nsfw? Yes(filter it properly!) Gallery support? No, but works are in a gallery format, just no seperate types of galleries. You can schedule posts as well like Tumblr. It has even gone on to have anti ai art rules. There are also seperate categories for your works on newgrounds and you can search via these categories as well
