Fee to apply to school BS.

I don't get universities/colleges that charge an outrageous fee to apply... especially when they're just regular ol' schools, nothing especially prestigious. Like, you do realize that I'm gonna apply to the places where it's free first, right??? I mean, I'd understand maybe a $10 processing fee or something, but come on...

!! CoolWorks Jobs PSA POST !! - REBLOG for resources!!

Hey yall so I just got a job offer from Grand Canyon National Park through a website agency called CoolWorks. Let me tell yall about this website okay? It has tons of resources, jobs all over the country, outside the US, and there are currently job openings through them in Hawaii even.

What’s coolworks though? It’s a job agency that has employers post jobs to their website for people of all backgrounds, nationalities, races, gender, etc etc etc. NOBODY is discriminated against and everyone is accepted! That’s the best part! Coolworks is HUGE on acceptance!!! Oh and.. Coolworks employers offer you HOUSING ranging from free to at least…. $75 a week coming out of your paychecks usually for exchange in working 40+ hours a week so it’s NOT BAD. That’s actually awesome!! Food is free, some places only charge like.. $3 a team meal, but usually food is free!

You’ll have a roommate, you can bring a car, you don’t have to bring a car, some of the dorms you’ll be living in at a 5-10 minute walk from your job!!! That’s awesome too!!! You DONT need your car for almost…. Half the website jobs!

“Is this safe?” YES. I promise you all. It’s safe and you can trust it. You can find reviews online, and on TikTok especially. “CoolWorks/coolworksjobs” there’s so many other people on social media who share their CoolWorks experiences! It IS SAFE. My new employer who just hired me told me that I don’t need a car, and that they have “paths” to walk to and from work and your dorm- but she also said, “but we do not like our employees walking in the dark so we have a shuttle that can take you to and from-“ SO that was great on her part!

北海道の実家で暮らしていた頃、祖母が親戚に電話するとき、しばしばこう言っていた。 「夢に出てきたから」 私が大学進学で東京に出た後、祖母との電話で同じ言葉を何度か聞いた。 祖母が亡くなったあと、今度は実家の母から同じ言葉を聞く機会が増えた。 わざわざ夢に出てきたことを口実にしなくても、用はなくともただ電話をかければいいのに、と、その言葉を聞くたびに思い、同時に、ほとんど場合は用もないのに連絡はしにくいし、自分だって近況を確認するためだけに電話もメールもしないな、と自己問答を繰り返していた。 とはいえ、本を読むときに紙面と顔の距離がだんだん遠くなってきた最近では、これを口実に連絡を取る気持ちがよくわかるようになった、のだけど、なんだか気後れするのと勇気がなくてできない小心者のため、わかるようになったどころか、うらやましかったり、憧れたりする。

この時期、ここを離れて別の場所に向かう姿が周りに多くなる。今は大学にも勤めているせいもあるし、年齢的なものもあるし、不意のものもある。向かった先での少なくても確かな幸福と、より少ない不幸を心から願うとともに、なんだか取り残されるような気持ちにもなる。今では、別の場所に向かったひとの中にも、SNSでその消息を知ることができるひとも多いけど、それでも会いたくなったり、声を聞きたくなるのはなぜだろう。それはそれぞれの元気な姿を確かめたいのと同時に、置いていかれたような寂しさのせいなのかもしれない。

北海道の片田舎に生まれ、東京に出てきた後7回引っ越し、フランスで生活した後、三重県に移住し、仕事で日本各地や海外に行くことが多いため、思い入れがある場所がたくさんあるけど、その愛着は場所そのものというよりは、そこに紐付いているひとへの郷愁の方が強いように感じる。だから、そこにいたひとが移動してしまうと、自分の思いだけがその場所に残されてしまうような寂しさを感じるようにも思える。

今年、私が演出で関わる大きな作品のうちの2つ、第七劇場「ヘッダ・ガーブレル」、三重県総合文化センター開館30周年記念・三重音楽発信 オペラ「カルメン」のために原作を調べていると、それぞれのタイトルロールである2人、奔放で自由な生き方をしているように見えるこの2人、ヘッダとカルメンも、似たような寂しさに付きまとわれているように感じる。自分の場所や価値観ははっきりしているのに、所在がないように感じたり、向かうべき場所や行くべき場所がないような寂寥感。実直なものや純粋なものがまぶしくて、憧れているのに目を背けてしまうような。

もしかしたら、ヘッダもカルメンも、別の場所に向かったひとが夢に出てきて懐かしさが湧いてきても、用もなく連絡できないひとなんじゃないか…と思うのは、自分に寄せすぎなのかもしれない。

私も祖母や母のように、もう少し年月が経つと、「夢に出てきたから」と朗らかに連絡できるようになるんだろうか。ただ、なれたとしても、連絡先がわからなかったり、もう物理的に連絡できない場合もあるし、立場も気にしてしまうから、歳を経ると状況はどんどん複雑になっていく一方でもある。

やれやれ。

昨年10月末に「三人姉妹」ツアー知立公演を終えたのち、同会場で地域の学校招待公演として「赤ずきん」を上演し、11月に三重オペラ協会「サンドリヨン」（マスネ作曲）の演出、12月に名古屋芸大の同僚・浅井さんが運営するダンスハウス黄金4422で開催された村上春樹を題材にしたワークショップ／ショーイング、年明けて1月に名古屋市西文化小劇場にて名古屋芸大・舞台芸術領域2年生の劇場実習発表「白雪姫」、2月に三重県文化会館制作・絵本コンサート「そっとそおっと」と、名古屋芸大・ミュージカルコース卒業公演「ヘンゼルとグレーテル」（ジャスティン・ロバーツ作曲）と、名古屋芸大・オペラ「ヘンゼルとグレーテル」（フンパーディンク作曲）を演出しました。
