I couldn't figure out what to post today so I asked @thebumblecee and she encouraged me to post two. 😂

Secret Dating AU:

He needs something after the week he's had, plus it’ll give people time to see him and check him out. There’s always a part of him that likes it when there are eyes on him and admiring his body. He puts in a lot of time at the gym - when he can - working on his body and he knows that he looks good.

It doesn’t take him long to get his drink at the bar. He takes it and heads to one of the high-top tables, sliding into the seat to people-watch a little bit and drink his drink before he decides to mingle.

He sips his drink, foot tapping to the beat of the song that’s playing, and unabashedly checks out a least a dozen men who are dancing, a few of them making eyes at him in return. He’s currently eyeing up a short, dark harried man wearing tight jeans and no shirt when someone he doesn’t expect to see here crosses his line of sight.

TK.

Farmers Market Coda:

He knows the moment that the door clicks shut that it’s over, that the rocky foundation that they were building together had crumbled beneath them and he had lost TK again. He turns and stares at the door for a long time, hoping that maybe TK would walk back in and say that he was being silly and they need to talk this through.

He knows he won’t, just like the others never did.

It wasn’t the first time that Carlos has found himself in a situation like this, but it’s the first time that it’s hurt this much. He feels like his heart has been shattered into pieces and TK had taken large pieces of it off with him.

Carlos stumbles back, letting his back hit the wall, and slides down it, pulling his knees to his chest as he hits the floor. Fat tears well up in his eyes and he tries to blink them away. He tries to push the feeling of heartbreak and sadness away and tries not to be weak. It doesn’t work, though, the tears push their way out of his eyes and down his cheeks as TK’s final words echo through the townhouse.

“I freed some more space in your closet, Carlos.”

#disability #currently going through something like this for myself and while i doubt there's anything 'wrong' i still did it #people are always weird about people who are disappointed or devastated about 'normal results' but... #...it's because normal results don't mean much when you still have the issue at hand... #...if my test came back that my back is physically normal that doesn't indicate that i don't have back pain does it? #because i am still in pain so often even if i have a 'physically normal' back... #...just as an example but i don't think a lot of abled people 'get it' #also like... if your tests are coming back 'normal' every time that might give your care providers pause... #...and they might just start infantilizing you or treating you like a hypochondriac... #...'are you SURE [problem] isn't just anxiety?' 'are you SURE you're actually experiencing [x] or are you exaggerating it?'

Listen, I know I'm the weird one for thinking about it in such a methodical way, but I think that if you're going to criticize someone, you should at least be aware of why, specifically, you're doing it. Are you trying to help that person see something in another light? Are you trying to inform others about a prevalent issue or mindset? Are you really upset with them, or is there a larger issue at play? How will criticizing this person change them, others, and/or yourself?

Like, I understand that's a kind of a robotic way of thinking, but taking a moment to think before I interact with anyone, especially strangers, has saved my bacon more than once. And, like, if you're just doing it to be mean, why are you even doing it? You obviously can, but why not use that time being happy

#idk. it's just so strange to see ppl criticizing without actually having a conversation. if that makes sense? #like obviously some ppl are going to be mean for the sake of being mean but it's still weird to see #idk that might also be a bad-faith interpretation since it's probably has more to do with the person being mean than the act itself #(as in they're frustrated or upset or hurt in some way) #also 'saved my bacon' primarily refers to how what I'm saying may be misinterpreted or how I may be misinterpreting someone else #or there's some other viewpoint or fact that makes my criticism invalid or unnecessary #idk.
