Our Last Summer

Alex Summers x reader

Summary: alex summers fix-it fic where he survives! him and the reader initially dislike each other but when they see each other years later they can't help but bring up old feelings they had pushed down.

Warning: graphic depictions of death/killing and animal death

✬ 1962 ✬

“So what can you do sweetcheeks?” Sean (who had declared his new codename as Banshee) asks with a grin.

Y/N stutters, a red flush coming up the back of her neck, “I- um.” She’s still not sure why she's here, honestly. She doesn't want to use her powers to hurt people, but the men who had approached her while she was mindlessly wiping tables at a coffee shop ended up being quite convincing. “Here,” she suggests, walking across the room to where larger shards of glass lay after Banshee’s display.

She bends at the knee, picking up the sharpest shard she could see in the debris. The others hold their breaths. Y/N raises her left hand, taking a deep breath before methodically slicing a long gash down her palm. She watches as the blood trickles down her arm. Stepping forward she displays the wound to the others, before the wound mends itself shut.

The others nod, mildly impressed, before Alex steps forward, pointing a figure at her with his hand still holding a beer, “So you like, have the same power as Darwin… but worse,” he states.

Raven gasps, hitting him with a pillow. “I think it's cool,” she leans forward, resting her head in her hands, “what do you want to be called?”

Y/N shrugs, embarrassed by Alex’s comment, but decides it's better to brush it off, “I don’t know.”

“I think we should call you…” Angel pauses for effect, “Solace! Because like that’s what you’ll be, if you're like, our medic or whatever!”

Alex snorts, earning a glare from the two girls, but a grin from Sean. “Don't look at me,” he raises his hands in defense, “I think it's perfect.”

They girls ignore him, instead opting to look to Y/N for her thoughts. “I really like it, thanks Angel,” she smiles politely, rejoining them on the couch.

Y/N was screwed. The whole team wanted to know how she could be of use other than as a healer. And now Charles wanted her to practice her power. But she hadn't done this since she was a kid, and even then it was an accident. She had tried everyday since then not to do it again. And now here she stood, somewhere in Charles’ basement, standing in a room with a caged rat. Just her and the rat.

Charles was smart enough to know she would never do it with him watching, even now, she debated letting the rat go and getting some ketchup from the kitchen and splattering it everywhere. But she knew she had to do it. Shaw was evil. He has to be stopped. Or we're all dead, Y/N thought to herself. You can do this.

She approaches the table where the cage sat, stopping a few inches from it. She lifts the hatch at the top of the cage, places her hand in the opening, wincing as her hand touches the poor animal’s body, her powers searching its anatomy. Y/N can feel its heartbeat, the blood rushing through its veins, all its organs working to keep it alive. She scrunches her face tightly, that dark feeling creeping up, the feeling she usually pushes away.

Instead, today she takes a deep breath, before letting the darkness overcome her. The rat squeals, she feels its organs constrict, before imploding one by one. It weeps in pain, but Y/N persists, watching as the rat's bones snap at unnatural angles. She looks into the creature's eyes, before her power rushes to its brain and heart, killing it instantly.

There are tears in her eyes, but Y/N feels no sadness. She brushes them aside, stands up straight, and exits the room.

“... and Y/N do what you have to,” Charles makes a pointed look at the girl.

Alex snorts, “What’s she gonna do? Heal them to death?”

Instead of retorting to Alex, which she had gotten comfortable doing in the past few weeks, Y/N looks Charles in the eyes, to which he nods assuredly. “Now go!” he exclaims.

Her fellow team members were quick to break into fights with the Hellfire Club. Y/N on the other hand, was dodging stray punches and mostly playing as the distraction. But then, out of the corner of her eyes, she spots Riptide sending a massive whirlwind towards Alex, who tries to dodge it but is trapped by the wreckage of the Caspartina. Y/N quickly judges the distance from where she stood, and decides to take the risk. Thankfully her running towards him distracts Riptide enough to miss Alex by inches. Unluckily, he manages to get a smaller whirlwind out and sends it harshly into Y/N’s chest. She flies through the air, landing on her back. Alex is quick to retaliate, sending a blast towards Riptide, which hits him effectively, sending him flying backwards towards where Y/N was climbing to her feet. Riptide had not been knocked to the ground, and once he regained his bearings he began charging up another whirlwind. Do what you have to, Charles’ words rang in her ears as she rushed from behind the enemy, hand outstretched. As soon as she makes contact, the darkness inside of her reaches out and clenches around the man’s heart, before crushing it completely. Riptide’s whirlwind falters, before he collapses to his knees, falling face first into the sand.

Y/N stands there, hand extended, looking at the dead man on the sand. It isn’t until Alex yelling her name, and rushing to her side that she snapped back to reality. Looking up to see at least a hundred missiles in the sky, aimed right for the beach. He is careful not to touch her but ushers her to where the others are now huddled near Erik and Charles as they yell at one another. None of it registers to her. She can't stop looking back and forth between her hands and the missiles being tossed around in the sky.

“Are you okay?” this may be the nicest conversation Y/N and Alex had ever had, and Y/N had only said 3 words. Alex nods, but Y/N knows, she's not that stupid, they were just in a huge fight, there's no way he's unharmed, even someone as powerful as Alex. “You know you can't lie to me,” she tries to lighten the mood with a grin.

Alex winces, “Why didn't you tell us about the,” he waves his hand vaguely in the direction of the beach where Riptides now dead body lays, “not-healing thing?”

Y/N looks down at her hands, “It was something I wanted to forget… Push down, never use… But Charles had other plans,” she shrugs, finally looking up at the boy. He nods, reaching out to take one of her hands in his. “Do you trust me?” she whispers.

“Yes,” Alex states, squeezing her hand tightly. Y/N relaxes, a small smile forming as the familiar lightness of her power courses through Alex’s body, healing his wounds. He sucks in a deep breath, before stretching his leg, a laugh bubbling up from within him, “Did you heal my old torn ACL?” Y/N grins, shrugging at him before stepping back and heading to heal some of the other team members.

✬ 1983 ✬

“...You know what Jubliee? I'll look into that for you, okay?” Y/N walks alongside the young girl down the main stairs in the manor.

“Thanks Y/N! You're the best!” she runs off, skipping down the rest of the stairs. Y/N’s eyes follow her before landing on someone she never thought she'd see again. She almost didn’t recognize him in his preppy clothes, but that blonde hair and mole on his neck was unmistakable.

Alex’s head turns to the side, looking to the staircase, his eyes growing wide at the sight of the mutant stopped halfway down. “Y/N!” he exclaims loud enough to shock his younger brother standing next to him. Hank is unfazed by Alex’s lack of interest in what he’d been saying. Instead Beast grins as he sees Y/N rush down the stairs and wrap her arms tightly around the blonde's neck. She leans back, her hands finding a comfortable spot on his biceps, his still resting on her hips. “I-I, um… It’s so good to see you!” Y/N quickly realizes how awkward she had made the situation.

“You too,” Alex whispers, staring intently at her, drinking in all of the changes in her face over the years.

Scott clears his throat uncomfortably, and Hank glares at him despite the boy not being able to see him. Hank’s mad that this kid is ruining what he's been hoping to see all along. He hadn't noticed it at the beginning, no, it had happened sometime around Cuba. But the two had grown quite fond of each other, Hank often caught them being rather intimate, regardless of the fact that they claimed back and forth to only be ‘friends’.

✬ 1962 ✬

Y/N sat on the windowsill in her bedroom, book in hand, the afternoon sun providing the perfect reading light. There’s a soft tap at her door, but before she could even grab her bookmark, Alex has entered her room, taking in the few personal touches and how she had not made her bed this morning.

“Hey,” he steps forward slowly, after spotting her on her perch.

“Hey,” she replies, quickly searching for the bookmark she swore she placed next to her. She smiles triumphantly when she finds it tucked under her leg, and places it in her book. She goes to stand, but when she looks up, Alex has already crossed the room, standing just a few feet from her.

“How are you feeling?” He asks, eyes still wandering the room. Was he nervous?

“Not bad, you?” Y/N steps forward, closing the gap between the two almost completely.

“Good, great, actually,” he nods.

“What are you doing here..?” Y/N asks with a tilt of her head.

“Do you trust me?” Alex repeats the question from the day on the beach in Cuba, with just as much conviction as Y/N had. She nods in response, over the past couple weeks the two had talked more than ever and Alex wasn't as much of an asshole as she had previously thought. He leans forward, hands brushing her hips as he connects his lips with hers. Y/N sinks deeply into the kiss at first, a giddy feeling rising in her chest.

Then Alex’s hands snake under her shirt, and a pit forms in her stomach, and not the good kind either. Suddenly she could feel him, or moreso his body, more than she would like, she pulled away, backing into the windowsill, breathless. “Is everything alright?” Alex asks, genuine concern laced in his voice.

“I-,” starts, breath hitching in her throat, she wanted to do this. But she knew she couldn't. Alex steps forward cautiously, hands about to touch her forearms, “I can't,” she gestures towards his outstretched hands, “do this.”

He looks down, towards where she held her hands parallel to his, wanting to interact, but an invisible force stopping her. “Riptide?” he asks, looking up into her eyes. She is quick to look away, ashamed that this kill has taken such a toll on her. “It’s okay,” he assures, hands floating up to rest on her shoulders but stopping just centimeters away. “We'll get through this,” once again, his instinct was to cup her cheek, but instead he opts for brushing a strand of hair out of her face gently, “together.”

✬ 1983 ✬

“So,” Alex clears his throat, as he and Hank walk away from the dorm room they had dropped Scott off in to rest for the evening until supper. “How long has Y/N been back?”

Hank grins, nodding his head to himself, “Since, oh gosh, it's been like 10 years, hasn't it? After Erik’s last scandal, at least.”

“And you two are like… what?” Alex draws his strides longer so the two could chat without the prying ears around the main hallways.

Hank laughs, “Friends? Like we always have been?” He takes a moment to take in Alex, who seems unsettled and unsure, and Hank has an inkling what it's about, “She's missed you, you know. I think she always hoped you would have come back when you got discharged from the army.”

Alex nods, watching his feet intently, regret written all over his face, “I screwed up, huh?” He looks to his comrade.

“Not yet,” Hank claps him on the back before heading down the hall towards Charles’ office.

Y/N was pissed, mostly at herself. Somehow, due her daydream-filled-head likely, she hadn’t noticed a certain group of kids were missing. “Hank!” she called to the brunette ahead of her in the hall.

Hank turns, he has a solemn look on his face, “Yes, Y/N?”

She frowns, “Is everything okay? I was just gonna ask if you’d seen Jubilee, yesterday I told her I’d look into-”

“Y/N!” She hears her name moments before she is tackled in a hug from behind.

“Raven? What are you doing here?” she turns in the woman’s arms, embracing her just as tight as she had been seconds prior.

“Ah, you know,” she waves off the thought, “Just found a straggler, figured this would be the right place to bring him.” Raven beams down at the woman she considered one of her only friends.

Y/N grins happily, but Hank lets out a disgruntled huff from beside them. Before Y/N can inquire what’s gotten into him, Charles wheels through the front door, Alex and Moira MacTaggert on his heels. “Raven?” he repeats the phrase in a similarly surprised tone Y/N had had moments before.

“Moira?” she responds, eyes barely even glancing at Charles. Moira gapes at the woman, unsure if she recognizes her.

“Will you excuse us for a moment?” Charles asks Moira, “Raven, follow me,” he instructs, and leads her to his office.

Y/N is quick to turn back to the guest in the mansion, “Hi, I’m Y/N, it’s great to meet you.”

“Moira, it’s nice to meet you too,” she extends her hand for Y/N to shake, which she does. Then Moira turns to Hank who introduces himself politely and shakes her hand as well.

“This place is amazing, and strangely familiar…” Moira looks around the foyer, examining the architecture.

Y/N panics, looking to Alex, then Hank for help. “Hahah, yeah, I’m sure you’ve been to a lot of lovely mansions, working so high up in the government and all,” she manages to come up with.

“Yeah, yeah…” Moira agrees absentmindedly, running her hand along the table in the center of the room. “Wait, how did you know where I work?” she snaps back to.

“Oh, haha,” the younger girl chuckles nervously, “Charles has been talking about going to see you for a while.”

Moira nods, then resumes examining the building. A minute or so passes and Y/N looks at Alex with pleading eyes, but before he could get something out, Moira is pondering again, “I swear I’ve been here before.”

“Old houses,” Hank replies dejectedly, “They all look the same.” With Moira’s back still turned from the group, Alex makes a displeased face at the man but he ignores it.

“Would all of you like to come with me?” Charles announces, as he and Raven return from the office. Y/N goes to interject about the missing kids, but the look on Charles’ face makes her silence herself, he was deadly serious.

“Where are we going?” Moira asks as they walk down the hall to the elevator.

“Downstairs… It’s a little… different from the rest of the school,” Charles replies.

Xavier leads the group downstairs and towards Cerebro, an uneasiness settles over Y/N’s form. Sensing her tenseness, out of instinct, Alex’s hand reaches over and squeezes her’s tightly, surprising Y/N. Although, she stops herself from pulling away, instead she looks up at Alex, who is already watching her, and squeezes his hand back, before slipping her hand away and following the group.

Charles uses Cerebro to locate Erik, who has been suffering since the loss of his wife and daughter. But it quickly turns sour, with Hank yelling for him to get out, and when he doesn’t respond, Hank attempts to remove the headpiece, but it shocks him and causes Charles to begin screaming in pain. “Alex!” Charles finally manages to get out, “Destroy it! Destroy everything! Destroy Cerebro!” Alex rushes forward, in front of where everyone is standing and looks back at Xavier for confirmation, “Wreak Havok!” Charles exclaims. Alex lets loose, sending plasma beams from his chest and arms, trying to thoroughly destroy the machine quickly. Finally it catches fire and the hold it has on Charles breaks, Y/N rushes to Alex’s side to help him through the rubble, while Raven helps Moira and Hank guides Charles.

Outside Cerebro, you all attempt to catch your breath, but a buzzing gains your attention down the hall. A force field appears, and within it Erik, alongside a handful of mutants. “Erik-” Raven manages to squeak out before Charles is being yanked down the hall by his metal wheelchair, she screams. Alex is quick to rush down the hall, yelling after them, “Hey! Asshole!”

“All will be revealed, my child,” the larger blue pigmented man replies.

Y/N and Hank run forward when they see Alex stop and begin to power up. “Alex!” Y/N screeches.

“Stop!” Hank yells, before him and Y/N halt and scream “No!” simultaneously, knowing exactly what was about to happen before it did.

The red blast emits from Alex’s chest, and before he could register what was happening, Erik and co. were gone, and his energy was hitting the core of the quinjet Hank had been building. Hank instinctually wraps an arm around Y/N to protect her from the blast.

In the blink of an eye Y/N and Hank had collapsed on the ground outside of the mansion, the eruption sounding behind them. “No!” Y/N cries, “Alex!” she pushes Hank off of her, jumping to her feet, scanning the grass around her. To her right, there he lay, terribly burned and unmoving. She falls to the ground at his side, shaking him lightly, “Alex,” she whispers, tears filling her eyes. She feels the power within her begin to work, slowly, but she has hope when his heart begins to beat a little faster. Hank is talking to someone beside her but she hears only mumbling, her head flowing with too many thoughts as the burns heal slower than her powers have ever worked.

“Where’s Alex?” Scott’s voice cuts through to Y/N, his voice laced with worry, “Where’s my brother?” Soon Scott was sliding on his knees at the side of his brother. “Alex?” he shakes him by the shoulders, causing Y/N to lose focus. Alex’s breathing becomes rugged, causing Scott to worry more.

“Hey!” Hank steps forward, pulling the boy up onto his feet, “Let her work okay? She’s trying to save him.”

Y/N dives back into her work, healing the man she loves one cell at a time. It was tedious work, but she would do it forever if she could only talk to him again. Soon, but not soon enough, the lightness of his skin begins to return, his breathing becoming even, and his heart rate slowing to a steady thump thump thump. When his blue eyes flutter open, Y/N thought her own heart might’ve stopped. “Alex!” she exclaims breathlessly.

“Hey,” he tried to get out but his voice was brittle. She shushed him, letting her powers work a little fast now that he was awake and seemingly well. “I,” he starts before clearing his throat, “I never told you-” he tries.

“Don’t,” Y/N interjects, looking into his eyes and knowing what he was going to say, because she wanted to say it too.

He moves up a little, leaning on his elbows to get a better look at her face, “I love you,” he whispers anyway.

Y/N melts a little, “Alex!” Scott exclaims, seeing his brother is now awake. He practically throws himself on top of the blonde, much to everyone’s displeasure.

“Ow!” Alex exclaims, though there is a wide grin across his face. “What did you miss me or something?” Scott playfully pushes Alex’s shoulder, earning him a glare from Y/N. Scott takes it as this isn’t the moment to have a brotherly bonding moment, and retreats with his hands raised in surrender.

When the two were alone again, Y/N brought her hand up to cup Alex’s face, her thumb tracing his cheekbone, “I’ve always loved you, Alex Summers.”

Fuck it, Alex tells himself, leaning forward and capturing her lips with his, hoping this might actually be his time.

Things about X-Men series I still hate:

Moira MacTaggert's entire existence. Possibly one of the worst cases of no homo I've seen in modern day. (Especially freaking ridiculous because First Class was written as a tragic love story between Charles and Erik, not Charles and her - fucking hell, they looked barely into each other in both of these films. Infuriating.)

Mystique's arc after DoFP, she was mostly just annoying and self righteous, despite really not having the moral high ground for it. Placed there just to bitch at Charles, which is beyond infuriating. Also the way she makes no effort to meet Charles' half way (I mean, maybe she's essentially making up with attitude for being raised by him)

Charles arc in Dark Phoenix, bullshit, nonsensical, I'm not having it, just no. Also the whole costume department that movie, atrocious, just no. In fact, I'm just blocking it from my brain entirely. (Except for the general feel any Cherik moments, which are always good)

Erik's family in Apocalypse are fine, but underutilized. I like them, but honestly feel like, idk, could have been written better.

More emphasis on Apocalypse persuasion (which likely meddled with all his "underlings" actual emotions and thought processes). Generally leaning into the monster arc.

Pointless deaths: Darwin, Scott, Alex. (As much as it hurts, the ones with some sense like: Jean, Sean, Charles, Emma, etc. make sense to me)

Raven/Hank's love arcs after DoFP, listen, it's over, they're no Cherik, we should have dropped that like a hot potato.

Peter not getting to tell Erik he's his son. Like, come on. Or even having any relationship with him??

Alex not being Scott's father. It's ridiculous that he's his brother. Like, I get there are people with siblings that are way older than them, but it kinda feeds into the ridiculous aspect of the movie where no one really ages.

In general, wish Alex had more time with Charles in these movies, and additional focus on Charles being a father figure to the OG crew as well as the new crew.

Y'all, I'm probably forgetting some stuff, but GOD, makes the movies slightly frustrating to watch, despite them being my favorites (Except for Dark Phoenix, literally fuck you)

Im just so annoyed.

X-men - First Class: Part 7- Erik Lehnsheer, Magneto

warnings: fluffy, mentions of past violence, character death, smut 18+, fingering, make out session.

CIA BASE

Moira had gotten a call from the CIA Facility, being quickly informed that Shaw had shown up and killed over a dozen. Sadly, one of the new mutants, Darwin, who had the ablity to adapt to his surroundings, had died by the hands of Shaw. Erik had a blank expression on his face you knew what he felt far more than what he displayed. Charles wasn't quiet about his thoughts on the way back. You wonder if Erik had spoken to Charles about his perspective . That Erik may have been right and you would've listened is there a chance that Darwin would be alive if they hadn't found him?

Charles led the group over to the new mutants, Raven, and Hank. "We've made arrangements for you to be taken home immediately." Charles greeted.

"We're not going home." Cassidy declared; he was who they named, Banshee.

"What?" Charles nipped.

"And Alex isn't going back to prison." Cassidy pointed over to Alex, or rather named Havoc.

"He killed Darwin." Alex stated, one thing you didn't understand is why Darwin couldn't adapt to whatever threat Shaw presented.

"They want to stick together." You explained. "It's all we have, to be unite as one "

"She's right, Charles. Darwin is dead and we can't even bury him. " Raven added.

"We can avenge him." Erik suggested, everyone turned to look at Erik as he stood next to you.

"Erik, a word please." Charles directed as you turned towards the group. You closed your eyes, tapping into Erik's mind. Though if he wished to have privacy the gates of his mind, would be close to a wall that you had taught him to grow. "They're just kids."

"No, they were kids. Shaw has his army, we need ours." Erik retorted as Charles turned away from Erik and you turned to find him staring at you.

"She's sly." Charles commented. "We'll have to train. All of us. Yes?"

You hummed out a yes as Charles turned back to the rest of the group. Then Hank brought up an argument. "Well we can't stay here. Even if they reopen the department, it's not safe. W'eve got nowhere to go."

"Yes, we do." Charles assured. Moira pulled out the keys to the truck as Charles nodded his head towards the back. "Load up." The rest of you climbed into the back, Erik was behind you his hands going to your hips and helping you up into the truck. You had shown a sense of loyalty going with him and he knew that he could trust you. He followed you into the back of the truck. His hands fall to your lap when you sat down, your hand coming down to cup his hand and start a mean game of thumb war.

He started the game and you assumed that he did it now because earlier he had been too nervous to even think about playing a silly game. You grinned over at him as you won the first round. Erik couldn't help but let out a chuckle fall from his mouth.

Moments like these reminded you of when you were first falling in love with Erik. When you sat in a booth together, the lights were dimmed in the restaurant. Your knees were point towards Erik and he possessively had a hand draping over your thigh. It started with your small hand spreading his hand open before tracing the lines of his hands. Then you slipped your hand into his and he flipped over your hands and brought it up to his mouth. Erik left a soft kiss with his plush lips, his deep blue eyes looking up into yours as he laid the kiss upon your skin. You smiled over at him before lining up your thumbs and looked down at you with amusement in his eyes.

"Play a thumb war with me?" You asked in a sweet way that made Erik desperately want to know what this game was.

"I have never-." Erik started as you gasped before moving your thumb under his.

"The goal is to squish my thumb under yours." You explained, "Whoever is on top is the winner?" He had quirked a suggestive brow at that, leaning in to you as you giggled before batting him away with your hand. "Do you wanna play or-?"

"Sure, sure." Erik gave in before letting you win the first round, he had picked up the game rather quickly and his thumb was rather larger than yours and it would've been easy to dominate my thumb.

As Erik won the next match, you pulled up to a large mansion. You peaked through the small window. The group was silent as they took in the mansion. Everyone in the back we're eager to scramble out of the back.

"This is yours?" Cassidy asked.

"No, it's ours." Charles corrected.

"Honestly Charles, I don't know how you survived living in such hardships." Erik mocked.

Raven moved forward, tucking her arms into Charles side, "Well it was a hardship softened by me." Charles pulled her into his side and pressed a kiss to the side of her head. "C'mon, time for the tour."

Raven enthusiastically showed the group around the mansion before escorting each of us to a respective room. "I'll put you two right next to each other.

(I mean seriously, it happens way too often. They set up a character who actually has a really cool power set, then realize that power set would make a fight scene over really quickly and off the character in the most batshit, usually canon-deviant way. Darwin in X-Men First Class. Alex and Warren in X-Men Apocalypse. Rick and Abner in The Suicide Squad. Fucking STOP killing characters right when they're about to reach a good character arc)

X-Men - Earth 18104

Time-line of the X-Men for my original universe Earth-18104. The events are based in different medias, like the movies, comics and series. Also, I included some of my OCs, as I literally just made this universe for them (and to change stuff I don't like I the stories).

There's a longer list of events of my universe too, including stuff about the Avengers, but I focus more in the X-Men.

This lists goes from 1971 (barely) to 2000, the first part of the Age of Heroes.

List of Events

1971 -

Irene Adler has a vision about the future of mutants. She and Raven Darkhölme start to "prepare for the war", looking for more mutants. They convince Jason Wyngarde to join them.

Erik Lensherr continues to hunt down Sebastian Shaw.

1972 -

The "First Class" of X-Men is founded by Charles Xavier and Moira MacTaggert after they discovered that Sebastian Shaw and his Hellfire Club planned to start a nuclear war against the humans.

They join Darkhölme, Adler and Wyngarde, and then meet Lensherr. They receive help of Fred Duncan and Gabrielle Haller to form the team to fight Shaw.

The first members are Armando Muñoz (Darwin), Vienna Adamsen (Petra), Suzanne Chan (Sway) and Sean Cassidy (Banshee).

The Hellfire Club members are: Amélia Voght, Janos Quested and Adriana Soria.

Most of things are just like the movie, but with different characters.

Except Darwin never dies and Shaw is killed by Erik and later his body is taken by Lady Sinister. Adriana Soria is taken by CIA and Janos Quested escapes.

After the Battle of Cuba, Xavier becomes paralyzed and lives with Gabrielle Haller in Graymalkin Lane; Erik leaves the X-Men with Voght and Wyngarde; Irene and Adler leave too, but in separate ways; Moira goes to Muir Island with the recruits.

1975 -

Sean Cassidy marries his girlfriend.

Weapon Plus erases the memories of the Team X.

1976 -

Charles Xavier marries Gabrielle Haller.

Team X escapes the Weapon X facility. Logan loses his memories and lives in the mountains with James and Heather Hudson.

1979 -

David Haller, son of Xavier and Haller, is born.

Just months after his son's birth, Charles fights the Shadow King, who loses his body and puts his own conscious on David's mind, planning on taking revenge on Xavier in the future.

Afraid of what could happened if she stayed with Xavier, Gabrielle Haller leaves Graymalking Lane and takes her son with her.

1980 -

Pietro and Wanda Maximoff (12) activate their mutations for the first time.

1985 -

Jean Grey (10) manifests her powers for the first time. Xavier takes her to Graymalkin Lane to teach her to control her mutation.

Twenty years after the First Class, with new super heroes showing themselves to the public, Xavier decides to form a new team of X-Men.

1987 -

Bobby Drake (10) manifest his powers for the first time. His parents ask him to keep himself in secret, but Bobby starts to train his powers, wanting to be a super hero.

1988 -

Scott (12), Alex (10) and Gabriel Summers (6) survive a plane crash during a trip with their family.

Scott enters a coma, while his little brothers are taken to different forster homes. Xavier visits Scott with Moira and decides to come back to him after Scott wakes up.

AGE OF HEROES

1989 -

(June)

The Fantastic Four debut as the first super hero team.

(October)

Scott (13) wakes up from his coma after a year, waking his powers by accident. Xavier gives him a Ruby-Quartz visor and invites him to join his new team of X-Men.

Bobby Drake (12) is on a date when he shows his powers in public for the first time. After the town turns against him, because of the hate against super humans increasing, Bobby is save by Scott and goes to Graymalkin Lane.

(November)

Warren Worthington's wing grow and hes unable to hide his mutation anymore. Scott and Bobby go after him and invite him to join the X-Men. Hesitant, Warren (14) accepts.

Later, Charles introduces Jean Grey (14) to them.

1990 -

(May)

The Avengers debut as a super hero team during the Battle of New York.

(April)

During a rugby game, Henry McCoy (16) witnessed a pair of masked thugs trying to rob the ticket booth, and used his mutant abilities to stop them.

Henry participated a special program for gifted young people, founded by Tony Stark. There he met Moira MacTaggert, who took him to Charles and Henry, reluctantly, accept to join the team.

Now with the second lineup of X-Men complete, Xavier began training his new students to hone their powers in his Danger Room specially built by him and the team's old lineup.

1991 -

Wanda and Pietro Maximoff (23) decided to go to America to look for their biological father.

Wolverine left Canada and went to Japan. There, he met Kobayashi Amiko and adopted her as his daughter.

1992

The second class of X-Men graduated in their training: Iceman (14), Angel (17), Beast (18), Cyclops (16) and Marvel Gil (17).

Now calling himself Professor X, Charles Xavier (55) was ready to reveal the new X-Men to the world.

• Meanwhile, Magneto (59) has made his first move against humanity, taking control of a military base in Cape Citadel to launch his missiles at human targets. He was unexpectedly confronted by the X-Men and escaped before being defeated.

Due to his exemplary work on the field, Xavier selected Scott Summers to serve as the team's field leader.

Later they fought the mutant called Vanisher.

Xavier located Frederick Dukes (17), and sent the X-Men to recruit him.

Blob was uninterested in joining them and later attacked the school, but was defeated by X-Men soon.

Gabriel Summers (10) was raised in a foster family, until he decided to run away from his grandparents' house one night, going in search of Scott and Alex.

After getting lost, he was found by a criminal called Jack Diamonds, who took advantaged of his new powers. Gabriel later was saved by the first X-Men (Petra, Darwin, Sway) and taken to Muir Island, where he trained to be a X-Men and choose the name Kid Vulcan.

Magneto founded the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, recruiting Jason Wyngarde, Amélia Voght, Mortimer Toybnee (14), Astra (20), Blob, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff (24).

They fought the X-Men briefly and then later where defeated.

The X-Men and the Fantastic Four fought the Puppet Master.

The X-Men where attacked by Calvin Rankin, Mimic.

Juggernaut attacked Graymalkin Lane and was defeated by the X-Men, put in a coma by Xavier.

1993 -

James Madrox (14) lost control of hid powers and was found by Moira MacTaggert, who took him to Muir Island, where he joined her X-Men with the codename of Multiple Man.

The X-Men graduated and soon fought Unus, the Untouchable.

Wanda and Pietro Maximoff (25) left the Brotherhood and joined the Avengers.

While living a pacific life in Paris, Gabrielle Haller's husband was killed. During the accident, David Haller (14) manifested his powers.

1994 -

Start of the Arc Z'Nox.

The X-Men find out Scott (18) has a brother. They meet Alex Summers (16) and he joins the team as Havok.

1995 -

(Mesmero and Krakoa)

Bobby (17) and Alex meet Lorna Dane (20). Soon they're kidnapped by Mesmero, who reveled that Lorna was Magneto's daughter.

Mesmero took control of Krakoa, the living mutant island, who once was home for the first mutants of the world. Mesmero and the X-Men discovered a secret nation of mutants that once lived in Krakoa (once known as Okkara).

These mutants were known as Enriched and they punished Mesmero for trying to steal their secrets and hurt Krakoa, who was asked to keep Mesmero trapped in a cell in the insides of the island.

The Enriched asked the X-Men to never tell about their secret nation, Khado, or about them, and the young mutants agreed.

Lorna Dane joined the X-Men as Polaris.

Hank McCoy left the X-Men to work at Brand Corporation.

(Among us stalk the Sentinels)

Believing that the mutant race was a threat to human society, scientist Bolivar Trask created the Sentinels.

To ensure the safety of mutants, Xavier began looking for new members for the X-Men.

The first of these would be his old Banshee friend, Sean Cassidy (43).

He also went after Sabretooth, who turned down his offer because he didn't care about the war between mutants and humans.

Jean (20), Scott (19) and Hank (21) met the mutant Ororo Munroe (28), that agreed to join them and took the code name "Storm".

• Over the next few days, there were many instances of mutants being attacked by Sentinels. Many of them sought refuge in the Xavier Mansion, being protected and kept secret by the X-Men.

At some point, the Sentinels attacked the school, and were defeated by the new group of X-Men.

(The Phoenix)

Reed Richards (32) met with Charles Xavier (58) to discuss the Z'Nox threat, stating that they were still present in Earth's orbit; so the X-Men joined the Fantastic Four on a mission into space to stop the alien invaders.

During the mission, they were caught in a solar flare. Jean Gray (20) was trapped in deep space and absorbed the explosion to give the others time to escape.

Jean came into contact with the Phoenix Force, that allowed her to absorb her energy, sealing itself in her body.

In Chandilar, in the Triagulum Galaxy (M-33), Lilandra feels the presence of the Phoenix.

With the rest of his team reaching the final stretch of their college education, Charles was secretly on Muir Island.

There he met Moira's new recruits, Bolt (14), Multiple Man (16) and Kid Vulcan (13).

Charles tried to recruit Emma Frost, but she refused, already working with the Hellfire Club in secret.

1996 -

Hank McCoy (22) goes through a rough transformation with his mutation, assuming a more bestial appearance.

(Second Genesis).

Charles Xavier (59) soon became aware of a mutant signature on Krakoa and sent his X-Men on a mission to investigate the island.

Meanwhile, the X-Men arrived on Krakoa and realized that the entire island was actually a massive mutant form.

Not only that, they met with Princess Sarala (33), the princess of Khado and the Enriched and Raven, her counselor.

They explained to Cyclops (20) that after they took Mesmero to Krakoa, he was placed in a stone chamber that would keep him asleep; however, the mutant used his powers to reach Krakoa's consciousness and awaken him from his sleep.

Understanding the importance of Krakoa to the Enriched, the X-Men joined them in calming the island. Krakoa then attacked them and, under Mesmero's command, captured them within.

Xavier reached out to Moira and asked her to allow him to use her students to rescue his team of X-Men.

These new X-Men proved to be no match for the island of Krakoa, and only managed to free Cyclops, sending him away while the group seemingly sacrificed their lives to cover their escape.

Scott returned to the Mansion, along with Bolt (15) and Madrox (17).

Wolverine was sent by Department H to fight the Hulk, he was defeated, but later was invited by Xavier to join the X-Men and rescue the other members from Krakoa.

Not only Wolverine, Scott recruited a new team with Banshee (44) and Storm (29), and new members: Sunfire (24), Colossus (18), Nightcrawler (20) and Thunderbird (17).

• This new team of X-Men proved more successful, rescuing the original team and defeating Krakoa and Mesmero.

Krakoa went back to its deep sleep and the Enriched took Mesmero to a different cell. However, Kid Vulcan was nowhere to be seen and Charles erased him from everyone's memories, believing he was dead.

Later, Cyclops became leader of the new team of X-Men.

(X-Men VS Erik the Red and D'ken)

Erik the Red received orders from Majestor Shi'ar D'ken to capture Princess Lilandra, who had fled on a ship to Earth.

The Enriched once again went to warn the X-Men of the threat of the Shi'ar and told them about the first invasion of the Shi'ar earth.

Princess Lilandra arrived on Earth and asked them to help her stop her brother from using the M'kraan Crystal's power to dominate the universe.

Jean Gray (21) awakened the powers of the Phoenix and helped the X-Men into space to rescue Lilandra, and help her stop her brother from using the power of the M'kraan Crystal to take over the universe.

Emperor D'ken controlled the powerful Imperial Guard and directed his force to destroy the X-Men. Fortunately, the X-Men were aided by the Starjammers, a revolutionary crew of space pirates, led by Cyclops' father, the Corsair, and the Enriched.

With the crystal about to shatter and destroy reality itself, Phoenix used his stupendous power to restore it. D'ken went crazy and was dethroned. When the X-Men returned to Earth, a temporarily exiled Lilandra accompanied them.

Jean Gray began having terrible dreams about the Phoenix.

(The second Brotherhood of Mutants)

With the new wave of hatred spread by Senator Kelly, a new Brotherhood of Mutants was formed, led by Mystique (and Destiny, in secret), formed by Pyro (19), Rogue (16) Avalanche (21) and Blob (21 ).

• While "rescuing" some mutant children, the Brotherhood is interrupted by the X-Men, who prevent them from taking the children to use them in their plans.

During the battle, the X-Men have difficulty dealing with Rogue's powers, who copies her abilities.

In the end, they win because Rogue is overwhelmed, and the Brotherhood escapes.

New mutants go to Gaymalkin Lane, among them is Sam Guthrie (14), Kitty Pryde (12) and Alison Blaire (16).

(Dark Phoenix)

The X-Men were captured by the Hellfire Club, its revealed that Jason Wyngarde has been using his power to torture Jean and unleash the Phoenix. They succed and Jean is dominated by the Dark Phoenix.

The powerful entity is defeated with the help of the Shi’ar. Jean Gray regained control once again and decided to sacrifice herself and prevent another disaster.

After Jean Grey's funeral, Cyclops left the team to mourn the loss of his lover. Storm was placed as leader of the X-Men

1997 –

• (Days of Future Past)

• Rachel Summers and Lucas Bishop travel from the future to stop the Brotherhood of Mutants of killing Robert Kelly and triggering their dystopic future. The X-men follow them in their mission and succed in stopping Mystique and her brotherhood.

• Rachel and Lucas are stuck in the past and join the X-Men.

• While he traveled the coutry in his mourning, Scott met Madelyne Prior, who looked exactly like Jean. They become closer and Scott goes back to the house of his grandparents. There he find memories of his Brothers and finds out that Kid Vulcan, that had died in Krakoa, was his brother Gabriel.

• He decided to go back to Salem Center, but promised to Madelyne he would come back.

• The X-Men have their first encounter with the Broods. They defeat the aliens with the help of the Shi’ar and the Starjammers, which leader is Christopher Summers.

• Kitty Pryde meets Lockheed.

• Carol Danvers briefly joins the X-Men, but soon leaves after a fight with Rogue, who had stolen her powers (Danvers did notlost er abilities, only stayed in bed for a while).

• At the same time, Wanda is possessed by the Darkhold and uses her powers to create na ilusiono f a happy Family for herself and Vision. She’s stopped by Strange and the Avengers.

• Scott comes back to the X-Men and confronts Xavier about his brother. He keeps in contact with Madelyne Prior.

• Illyana Rasputin is taken to Limbo. Later she’s saved by the X-Men, but she’s no longer a little girl.

• (The New Mutants)

• During the prolonged period in which the X-Men were kidnapped by the Brood, Xavier's School was rebuilt and became known as the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. Despite not wanting to put any more of her students in danger, Moira convinced Xavier that the mutant children would be in danger one way or another and would need to be trained to fight.

• Thus, the X-Men began to assemble a new experimental team of young X-Men, the New Mutants, and new teachers joined to help with their training: Storm, Nightcrawler, Thunderbird, Sunfire, Firestarter, Lullaby, Banshee, Wolverine, Prestige, Bishop and Colossus.

• This new team was formed by Sam Guthrie (15), Rahne Sinclair (13), Roberto da Costa (14), Danielle Moonstar (15), Doug Ramsey (13), Illyana Rasputin (13) and Xuân Cao Mạnh (14), who has been chosen to bethe leader.

• Later the X-Men were in a conflict with the Morlocks and their leader Calypso.

• Rogue went to the X-Men after she had to have problems controlling Captain Marvel’s powers.

• The X-Men travel to Japan to celebrate Logan’s wending with Yashida Mariko. They met his adopted daughter, Amiko, and help him save Mariko from the Silver Samurai.

• Forge joins the X-Men later.

• Jonh Proudstar (18) brings his little brother, James (14), to study at the Xavier’s Institute.

• Around the same time, Emma Frost created her own group of young mutants at Massachusetts Academy, the Hellions, formed by: Empath, Firestar and Roulette.

• Scott Summers became closer to Madelyne Prior and the two became a couple and he ook her to the X Mansion, where he introduced her to her friends. X-Men were shocked, however, seeing Scott's genuine happiness, they accepted Madelyne into their family and she spent the next few months living with them at the Institute, where she soon discovered she was pregnant.

• As a full-time X-Man, Wolverine was unable to personally care for Amiko (12), but raised her with his fiancée Mariko Yashida.

• Amiko lived with Mariko for some time, enjoying the luxurious life that the head of the Yashida Clan was able to provide. She saw Logan on rare occasions.

• Scott Summers married Madelyne Pryor on the grounds of Xavier Mansion, with most of the X-Men attending the ceremony.

• (Legion)

• David Haller (18) began manifesting his psionic abilities uncontrollably in the real world. Seeing her son suffering from the loss of control of his powers, Gabrielle Haller took him to Muir Island to ask Moira MacTaggert for help.

• MacTaggart called Xavier and he brought with him several of the New Mutants, including Cypher, Mirage and Wolfsbane, Rachel Grey, Scott Summers and Banshee. Upon seeing Xavier, David revealed that it wasn't just him there, there were many others of his alters and hidden in his mind was Amal Farouk, the Shadow King.

• The X-Men joined to stop Frouk and save Davidd. Farouk was removed and expelled from David's mind, who finally had control over his powers and could live in peace with his alters. Even though he still didn't accept that Xavier was his father, knowing why his mother left him, David thanked him.

• David remained on Muir Island for the next few years, being visited by the X-Men from time to time.

1998 –

• (The return of Jean Grey)

• Many months after Phoenix's death, some Khado soldiers heard Krakoa calling them and followed the island to Jamaica Bay, where they found a pod containing Jean Gray's body.

• A few weeks after being found, Jean Gray began to remember what happened before her "death." She later left to go find her friends and returned to be na X-Man.

• Meanwhile, Scott and Madelyne's marriage has become strained. Madelyne resented the fact that Scott was rarely home and that he continued to miss Jean.

• The X-Men were attacked by Mojo. Elizabeth Braddock joined the X-Men after helping them escape the Mojoverse.

• In May, Madelyne Prior gave birth to hers and Cyclops’ son, Nathan Summers.

• Right after, Lady Sinister, Selene Essex, recruited a group of mercenaries to get rid of the Morlocks, whom she believed were a threat the to Evolution of mutant kind. Among these mercenaries, the Marauders, were Sabretooth and Gambit.

• The X-Men went to the tunnels of Morlocks to save the mutants and defeat the Marauders. In the end of the fight, Storm was severely hurt and was lost. While the X-Men believed she was dead, Gambit found her in the tunnels and saved her life.

• Later the X-Men were attacked by the Ravers. During the fight, Jubilee (14), that was living in secret in the X-Men’s base, helped Wolverine save his teammates.

• (Inferno)

• When the X-Men carried out missions, Madelyne Pryor helped them as technical support. Little by little, she was corrupted by the Limbo demon N'astirh, ending up making a deal with him to find her son, becoming the Goblin Queen.

• She soon found out about her true nature: she’s a clone of Jean Grey created by Lady Sinister. Her corruption as the Goblin Queen unleashed Hell on New York in the form of a demonic invasion.

• The X-Men defeated N'astirh, however, in an insane outburst, Pryor put her own son's life at risk, being fought by the X-Men and X-Factor. She was eventually killed in an attempt to take Jean Gray down with her.

• With Madelyne dead, the X-Men traveled to the ruins of the X-Mansion to confront Lady Sinister, who, with Mastermind's help, was telepathically attacking Jean Grey. After a long fight, Cyclops (24) managed to blast Sinister with a full-power optical blast, seemingly destroying her.

• Now without his mother, baby Nathan Summers was raised by his fatherwith the help of the X-Men and Jean Grey.

• In the end, the X-men had to fight the Shadow King once again. Farouk was controlling other mutants to attack the X-Men, but with the help of David Haller and Emma Frost, they defeated him once again.

1999 –

• Wolverine tried to regain his memories and startedto dig into his past with the helpof Jonh Wraith and Nick Fury. He discovered that Silverfox was never dead and it was all an ilusion of Weapon X.

• The X-Men had to fight against the Acolytes and Fabian Cortez, who had kidnapped Luna Maximoff, Magneto’s granddaughter.

• Dealing with his bloodlust and animal side out of control, Sabretooth went to the X-Men searching for Xavier’s help. Different from what he expected, Creed was kept prisioner in the basement.

• Tereza Márquez (OC), Creed’s partner known as Sanguinária, joined the X-Men to take care of him, but still had to keep her job with the Avengers.

• The Inner Circle, who were old allies of Xavier, send two members, Lullaby and Firestarter, to assist the X-Men with their new students.

• The wending of Jean Grey and Scott Summers happened in the gardens of the manor.

• (The Phalanx and Generation X)

• Later, Sabretooth and Tereza Márquez helped Banshee, Emma Frost and Jubilee save a new group of Young mutants from the Phalanx. One of these youngs was Clarice Ferguson (14), she sacrificed herself by using her teleporting powers to save her new friends and was apparently killed while destroying the Phalanx.

• While Sabretooth was sent back to his cell, Banshee and Emma Frost started to train a new team, the Generation X: Jubilee (14), Paige Guthrie (17), Monet St. Crox (16), Everett Thomas (17), Jono Starmore (14), Angelo Spinosa (15) and Nicole and Claudette St. Crox (9).

• The X-Men and the Fantastic Four had to deal with Nanny and Orphan Maker, who captured Young mutants from their parentes, among them Franklin Richards (1), Nathan Summers and Gailyn and Joey Grey.

• The Inner Circle started their plans of waking Apocalypse, with the help of Exodus and Ozymndias. Creed starts to regain his memories.

• When the Inner Circle was discovered by Forge, Creed and Márquez escaped the manor. During the battle that started, the Inner Circle failed in capturing Xavier, but Nathan Summers was infected with a techno vírus that put his life in danger.

• To save his son, Scott send Nathan to the future, wherehe could recieve training and treatingfor the vírus. Wolverine was after a cure for Warren and Psylocke, who were extremely hurt by Creed and Márquez during their escape. He recieved a visit from Ozymandias, who told him that soon Apocalypse would return.

• The same warning was given to the mutants of Khado, who prepared themselves for the “Judgment Day”. The Inner Circle goes searching for the Horsemen of Apocalypse.

2000 –

• With the campaing for presidency of Graydon Creed, the mutants start to feel more threated by the presence of the Sentinels and the Department of Damage Control, na organisation ruled by SHIELD that would arrest any potential dangerous mutant.

• Dr. Cecilia Reyes joined the X-Men.

• (Apocalypse)

• The Inner Circle succeds in their plan of bringing back Apocalypse and his Haralds.

• Kittty Pryde, Jono Starmore and Warren Worthington are kidnapped by the Inner Circle. Apocalypse uses his powers to give Warren new wings, choosing him to be his next Horseman of Death.

• With the help of the Enriched, the X-Men fight Apocalypse, his Army of Darkness, Exodus and the Inner Circle.

• Now the world knew of the existence of the secret nation of mutants, Khado, as well the existence of Wakanda and Krakoa.

Chapter 1: One Day in the Life of Alex Yates

Word Count: 2 k

Warning: Strong language, alcohol abuse

a/n: Hello everyone! In my mission to write as many Michael and David characters as I can, here's another effort: a wee rewrite of There She Goes with my OC.

2015:

Simon had been trying to get Rosie to calm down all morning. Ben just watched that disaster unfold while their father tried to drag her back from the park to have dinner.

"Where's your sister when we need her?" Simon groaned, pulling Rosie away from a car that she ran to because the license plate had a big X on it, her absolute favorite.

"What's going on?" Alex asked when she came back from her judo practice. She still wore her white trousers with a black tank top and her brown belt wrapped around her waist.

"Fuck, Alexandra, there you are! Can you…?"

"Hey, Rosie!" She greeted with a big smile.

"X! X!" The little girl called.

"That's me, come on, are you gonna be good or will I have to give these wotsits to Dad?"

Rosie let out a happy screech when she saw the blue package and reached for it. It was never too quiet around her, she was always making noises to communicate, but those happy noises were always welcome.

She took the snack from Alex and gave her older sister a clumsy hug.

"Can you say thank you?" Alexandra asked.

In response, Rosie did the sign in BSL and her sister ruffled her hair.

"You're a miracle worker," Simon sighed as they walked from the park. "You can't be going around and leaving us alone. She needs you."

"You hear how insane that sounds, Dad?" Ben chuckled. "She's not her mum, besides, she was at practice not even hanging out."

"Not helping, Ben," he hissed.

"It went well then?" Emily, the matriarch of the family, asked while she prepared the food.

"As well as it can go," Simon murmured, watching the kids get around the table. "I was thinking, what if we never send Alex to college?"

"What? Are you insane?"

"You know what I mean! Sometimes she's the only one who can calm Rosie down and can you imagine the epic meltdown that Darwin's little exception is gonna have when her big sis moves out?"

"Simon, we can't just ask Alex not to live her life. We're their parents, it's our job to look after them, not hers."

"Now you just sound like Ben!"

"Because even an 11-year-old boy has more common sense than you! She's 17, she'll leave eventually, we're gonna have to make it work."

"Remember when it was just her?" Simon smiled.

"When you were not a total prick? Yeah, I remember."

2001:

"Where's Daddy?" Alexandra asked, crawling on the floor, even after she learned how to walk, she still loved to crawl.

"He's coming home, remember when I told you about Daddy working to buy your Christmas presents?" Emily picked up her little girl and kissed her forehead. "Why do you love Daddy so much? Can't it be Mummy?"

"No! Only Daddy," Alex laughed at her mother's expression when she said that.

"Where are my girls?" Simon opened the door and opened his arms to take his daughter. "There's my little princess! How you doing, sweet pea?"

"Good! I missed you!"

"I missed you too!" He bounced her and kissed all over her chubby little cheeks. "Oh, there's my queen."

"Good one," Emily laughed. "She's been talking about you all day, she's a little chatterbox."

"Aww but that's cute! Remember when she'd speak full sentences before she could even walk? It was a nice party trick."

"I know, and it's cute, but I do hope our next daughter is less chatty. For my sanity."

"I heard that!" Alex gasped.

"See, now you hurt my little princess!" Simon joked. "Can you get me a beer, Em?"

"Noooo I don't like beer Daddy," the little girl cried.

"Wow, that is not concerning at all…" Emily arched an eyebrow. "Did Daddy ever hurt you after drinking beer?"

"Only on the inside…"

"No! I'm not-! You meant your heart, right? I hurt your feelings?" Simon asked, panicked.

"Yeah, you were mean."

"See, Em? Never say that again, sweetie, people might get the wrong idea and then they'll take Daddy to jail. Is that what you want?"

"No! We need to watch Barbie and the Nutcracker!"

"Good girl, if Daddy's in jail he can't watch Barbie and the Nutcracker with you."

2006:

"HIYAAAAAA!" Alex jumped on her father's stomach after bringing him to the floor with a rather flawless valley drop.

"Jesus Christ! That's what we're paying for? For you to learn how to kill your father in karate?" Simon groaned, curling up into a ball.

"It's judo, Daddy!" She laughed.

"Oh pardon me, I wouldn't wanna be rude to the little girl who just broke my ribs. You're always complaining I'm not home enough and when I am, you just wanna punish me."

Alexandra frowned and wrapped her little arms around him, kissing his cheek. She did complain because ever since her mum got pregnant, she would barely see him at all.

He was always 'at work' or with his friends and whenever she saw him, it was beer Daddy, not the one she loved.

"I'm sorry, I didn't wanna hurt you."

"Hey, sweetheart, it's okay," Simon assured, kissing the top of her head. "Daddy's sorry, okay? I wish I could be home more, but- it's hard to explain, my baby. Sometimes grown-ups do silly things even when they know it's wrong and then when they try to undo it, they can't right away. But I promise I'll make it better."

"Are you and Mummy getting divorced?"

"Why did you have to be such a smart girl?" He sighed. "I don't know, darling, I don't want to, but sometimes it's what's best for mummies and daddies."

"And then we'll never see you again?"

"Of course you'll see me, Alex! Even if one day I'm no longer Mummy's husband, I'm still your and your siblings' daddy, that'll never change. You're stuck with me for life, kiddo. Is that okay? You being stuck with your old man?"

"That's okay," Alex smiled. "I wanna come live with you if you leave."

"Why is that, princess?" Simon sat up, a bit worried that she'd given that whole thing so much thought. She shouldn't be pondering on that sort of thing.

"Because Mummy loves Rosie more. She only ever holds Rosie and talks to Rosie and about Rosie."

"Awww Alex, that's not true," he took her in his arms, stroking her long dark waves. "Mummy is only busy with Rosie because she was just born. She's just a little baby and she was born really small, she needs attention."

"I know, but when Ben was born, it wasn't like that. Mummy still loved me when he was a baby."

"Mummy still loves you now, sweetie, don't worry. But if you ever wanna come live with me, that'll be okay and… I mean, not that we're actually getting divorced. That's not happening as far as I'm concerned. Okay?"

"Okay… is it time to go to judo yet?"

"Yeah, it's time, come on."

Simon grabbed her Barbie backpack with her uniform and a little snack.

"Are you gonna stay and watch me?" Alex asked hopefully.

"I can't, sweetie. Daddy's meeting Aunt Helen, but I'll be there when you're done," Simon picked her up and looked up the stairs. "Em! I'm taking the little monster to judo!"

Father and daughter took the train, as Simon wouldn't learn how to drive to save his life, and he dropped her off at her class.

Alex saw Daddy leave and wanted to cry, to scream about how he never sat to watch her practices anymore like the other parents did, but she didn't. She was brave and put on her uniform all by herself.

She diligently got through her class and changed back into her street clothes, excited to tell her father that she was getting a new belt soon.

"Hey, I'm getting the yellow-orange belt, Daddy. It means I'm halfway to getting my orange belt which is my favorite color! I can't wait!" She whispered to herself as she sat right outside the dojo with the other kids.

One by one, the kids were picked up by their parents, but Alexandra stayed there, swinging her little legs and rehearsing what to say to Dad when he finally arrived.

"Yeah, she's still here," the sensei said into the phone. "Don't worry, I know you have a new baby at home, Mrs. Yates, I can drive her. It's no problem."

Alex never got to say her perfectly rehearsed lines celebrating her new achievement. She sat in silence the entire car ride back to her house and when her mother opened the door, she burst into tears.

"Hey, hey sweetie, it's okay," Emily hugged her after putting Rosie down in the crib. "Don't cry, baby. I'm sorry you were scared."

"I wasn't scared! He didn't come and he told me he would! Why won't anyone love me anymore?" Alexandra hit her head on the wall a few times before her mother could catch her.

"Mum? Why is Al hurting herself? Don't hurt yourself, Al!" Ben whispered, bringing her a pillow.

"Hear that? Your brother is worried about you, he loves you and so do I, so does Rosie, so does Daddy. And your grandparents, Aunt Soph…"

"Daddy doesn't love me, he left me there. He's not my daddy anymore!"

"It's not true, Al, you're his precious little princess and he just made a mistake. He forgot he was supposed to be there or he missed the train- the point is, everyone makes mistakes," Emily said even though she was also furious with her husband and that was far from his first fuck up. "Tell me how was class, let me make you something to eat."

"I get a yellow-orange belt next week, I'm not hungry," Alex said while she stomped up the stairs to get to her bedroom.

She hid in there all afternoon and when it was almost time to sleep, the door slowly opened and Simon came in stumbling over himself.

"Mummy just told me what happened, I'm so sorry, my pumpkin pie. I lost track of time, when I realized it was already eight," he slurred.

"Get out of here! You stink, I hate beer Daddy! I hate all daddies! I hate you!"

"I understand, I get it. I love you though and I'm really sorry," he said, too embarrassed to look her in the eye. "Mum told me you're getting a new belt? That's exciting, you're one closer to orange, your favorite."

"Whatever, if you cared you would've watched me."

"I swear, I promise next week I'll be there to see it."

"No, you won't! I don't believe you anymore. Go away, I'm going to sleep."

2015:

The noise her sister made was indication she wasn't happy about it.

"That is my monster, its ears are so fluffy!" Alex read and closed the book. "Now, my little monster Rosie, it's time for bed."

"I know, I know you don't want to. But let me tell you something. I know you can't talk, but you understand me, right? You get what X is saying?"

Rosie didn't nod or give any proof that it was true, but she stared directly at Alex, she was listening.

"If you close your eyes and fall asleep, you can play with the nice monsters and Hippo in dreamland. Right here," she touched Rosie's head. "Don't you wanna play with Hippo and the monsters from the book? Yeah, I know. So please, close your eyes and sleep, alright? I love you, pretty girl."

When Alexandra put up the gate to stop her sister from leaving the room, she noticed her parents were watching from afar.

"Sorry, I'm gonna go wash the dishes now," she chuckled, knowing she was behind on her chores.

"No! Don't you dare, Alex," Emily hugged her tightly. "You help more than enough and honestly I feel bad about it sometimes. Daddy will do the dishes."

"What? Why me?" Simon yelped. "I mean, yeah, I agree she shouldn't have to after getting Rosie to sleep, but why me?"

"Because you're a lazy arse," Alexandra laughed.

"You know what? Let's just order some pizza and relax while we have a little time," Emily suggested.

"Ah come on! We order pizza every week, let's have something different," Simon wrapped his arms around each of them.

"I don't think lazy arses have the right to decide," Alex laughed. "Come on, let's play a game while we wait. Oh! And remember tomorrow everyone needs to come to the gym, I'm getting my black belt!"

"Don't worry, princess, we'll all be there for you," he smiled.
