Disney Villain Bracket
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
basically how this works is we have brackets a, b, and c. c is a tricky one, hopefully ill explain right
it’s basically a bracket and a half, and the villains in the half bracket will go across and meet in the middle, and the winner of that goes against the two villains on the bracket above
once we get to the middle two in a and b and have that vote, and once the double elimination in bracket c happens, the three villains will all go head to head… to head. it’ll be the three winners of each bracket in one final poll
am i explaining correctly? oh well, y’all will see what i mean when we get there
im sure a lot of y’all have opinions on how this was put together but keep in mind ive never done this before and i did my best. so
also! voting criteria is you picking your favorite of the villains in each poll. not the movies or shows or whatever they’re from, im talking about the characters themselves
i will be posting the polls on the left side of bracket A first, on Monday, April 17 at 12 PM CST! after that, i will post the left side of bracket B the following day at the same time. then the left side of bracket C the next day. the day after that, i will post the right side of bracket A, then B, then C. you get it

Get To Know Me Tag
Thank you so much @befuddledcinnamonroll for tagging me! I really enjoy these tag games to learn about each other!
Do you make your bed?
Sometimes yes, but by that I mean I half fold/half bundle up the sheets and toss them on top of my pillow. So no, not really 😅
What's your favorite number?
Never really had one, but I like when things can be evenly split, so even numbers and groups of five are satisfying 👌🏽
What is your job?
I’m currently a certified pharmacy technician. I used to be the manager but I had to step down when I went back to school cause I couldn’t be full time anymore.
If you could go back to school, would you?
Here I go with my long winded answers again 😅
If we’re talking go back in time to when I was younger and in school then yes. I fear I peaked in high school, and with my current knowledge of life I’d do so many things differently.
If we’re talking go back to school now for a career change, that’s what I’m currently doing. I’m not using my first degree, so I’m in school to be an X-ray technologist and I hope to move up to CT or MRI afterwards.
If we’re talking go back to school now just for funsies, then yes again. I love languages and wish I could properly learn so many! I took Italian in college which I picked up pretty easily cause it’s so similar to Spanish (my first language), ma capisco più che parlo. Non ho nessuno con cui praticare.
Can you parallel park?
Yes but I get so nervous about hitting other cars 🙈 I’d prefer not to do it.
A job you had that would surprise people?
I think what’s most surprising is that I’ve only ever had one real job. I’ve done volunteer and community work, and some research stuff but a formal wage-paying job I’ve only had one of. I’ve had many position changes within that job, though.
Do you think aliens are real?
I don’t rule out the possibility of advanced life on another planet but I’m also not thinking about it on the regular.
Can you drive a manual car?
Definitely not lol. I didn’t learn to drive until I was 26 😬 and I’m turning 29 this year…
What's your guilty pleasure?
Honestly it’s BLs, cause of the stigma around it. But if I’m around strangers I can talk about it! I met so many nice BL fans at an event back in February. It’s just hard to find people who get it.
Anything else though, I’m loud and proud! Haters to the left! 💁🏽‍♀️
Tattoos?
I’ve always wanted one! But I’m so indecisive on what to get! There is this one design I really want but then I think about it and I’m like “but where to place it???” 😭
Favorite color?
Green!!! But also purple and white
Favorite type of music?
I listen to a lot of different genres but I like pop music the most. Of course I’m into Kpop, and I love an 80’s synth sound!
Do you like puzzles?
Omg yes, I love brain teaser-type puzzles! I do the daily NYT games whenever I can and I love trivia shows and riddles and problem solving games! So fun!
Any phobias?
I’m scared of heights but I can be brave sometimes. I really don’t like slimy things like slugs and snails or boogers.
Favorite childhood sport?
I love swimming! I was actually on my high school swim team! I did the IM which is all strokes but I also did the Butterfly 🏊🏼‍♀️ and my team started the school’s synchronized swimming team too! 🙆🏽‍♀️🌊
Do you talk to yourself?
All the time! But who doesn’t? And to my pets and stuff too.
What movies do you adore?
I used to love going to the movies but I haven’t been back much since covid. And I don’t really seek out older movies to watch. But I love romance so stuff like Pride & Prejudice and Fools Rush In. And my family loves Disney so Tarzan, and The Incredibles are my faves! We rewatch a lot of Disney films all the time.
Coffee or tea?
I very much enjoy tea but I seldom drink it. I should change that 🤔 and I’m unfortunately chronically tired and need coffee to survive 😞 but I don’t get the complex drinks, just a regular coffee, 2-3 cups a day.
First thing you wanted to be growing up?
Uhh idk really. My answer was always changing, I never had a *dream* career 🤷🏽‍♀️
Not sure who hasn’t been tagged but I’d love to read your responses! No pressure though!

Movie Recs In Honor of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
I decided to write out a list of movies to watch in honor of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes coming out very soon. This list will feature movies with apes besides the POTA movies, or movies with weird and bizarre friendships/found families.
The Original Planet of the Apes Franchise (1968-1973, Amazon Prime)
Honestly, I've only watched the 1968 movie a handful of times. I decided to watch all of the original franchise leading up to the release of Kingdom. They're all a lot of fun, with social/political commentaries at the time of each film. If you're a movie collector, or like behind-the-scenes/director's commentaries, I highly recommend buying the Blu Ray compilation pack.
2. Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes (2001, Disney+ or Amazon Prime)
I know, hear me out. Yes, it's over-hated, and yes, there was A LOT of potential for this movie. There were definitely too many "cooks in the kitchen" when drafting this movie. Imho, I think it's a guilty pleasure, popcorn movie. If you're a fan of makeup effects, Rick Baker (THE modern makeup effects master) does an absolutely phenomenal job with the designs of the apes in this movie (and check out his Instagram too). I do like the production and the ape costume designs for this film as well.
Tim Roth and Paul Giamatti are such a blast in this movie, too!
And the posters for this movie look so cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Planet of the Apes Reboot Trilogy (2011-2017, Amazon Prime)
I think this is what the 2001 movie should have been, and was trying to go for. While the three movies did make their money back at the box office, I have two theories why they almost went under everyone's radar (again, this is my opinion):
A. Because of the mixed reception from the 2001 movie.
B. Because of the abundance of comic book & remake movies coming out during the 2011-2017 years.
I put this trilogy right up with the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. The storytelling is great, the special effects hold up well, and this reboot's version of Caesar has became one of my favorite main characters in modern film.
4. Mighty Joe Young (1998 remake, Disney+)
I don't know why this movie doesn't get talked about that much. Rick Baker, once again, does incredible work on the special effects for Joe. There's also a great musical score by James Horner. And Bill Paxton and Charlize Theron give amazing acting performances. And I think it's actually one of the better remakes that came out from the late 1990s.
In fact, the team that worked on the 1933 King Kong also made the 1949 film. Even Robert Armstrong (Carl Denham) came back for the '49 film. Ray Harryhausen worked under the supervision of Willis O'Brien for the special effects for the original movie. He also has a cameo appearance alongside Terry Moore (Jill Young) in a party scene.
Aaaaand I just found out the writers, Mark Rosenthal and Lawrence Konner, also did an uncredited rewrite for the 2001 POTA movie.
5. Tarzan (1999, Disney+)
Of course, who doesn't love Tarzan??? And Phil Collins's A.M.A.Z.I.N.G soundtrack???!!!
6. King Kong (1933, 2005, Amazon Prime/MAX)
Okay, technically it's a giant monster movie and the OG prior to Godzilla. And it also set the standard of film making overall. However, it is also a bit of a Beauty and the Beast story, hence the lines: "It was Beauty killed the Beast" and the "And the prophet said: And lo, the Beast looked upon the face of Beauty. And it stayed its hand from killing. And from that day forward, he was as one dead." I also recommend watching the extended cut of the 2005 remake.
7. Lilo & Stitch (2002, Disney+)
Again, who doesn't love Lilo and Stitch???
8. How to Train Your Dragon Trilogy (2010-2019, Amazon Prime/Peacock App)
Once again, who doesn’t love HTTYD (and why are they remaking it as a live action movie????)???
9. Gorillas in the Mist (1988, Amazon Prime)
This movie is about Dian Fossey (played by Sigourney Weaver), a primatologist who studied mountain gorillas and she was part of a trio of women who studied great apes; the amazing Jane Goodall and her study of chimpanzees, and Birute Galdikas who studies orangutans. The movie is also based on her book of the same name.
I use past tense for Dian, because she met a tragic and horrific death while she was conducting her research on gorillas. I have in-lined a link to Dian Fossey's Wikipedia article for further reading.
Rick Baker, once again, does some amazing practical creature effects work for the gorillas.
10. George of the Jungle (1997, Disney+)
One of my favorite Brendan Fraser movies, and such a fun, and a bit of a campy movie based on the cartoon series (which is also a spoof of Tarzan). I quote this movie every so often. Unfortunately, Rick Baker did not do the ape designs for this movie. The creature effects this time around was done by none other than the Jim Henson Creature Workshop!

Best fairy tale esque Asian drama
Beauty and beast type
Little mermaid type
Aladdin type
Cindy type
Etc
oh interesting! here's what comes to mind
for a beauty and the beast parallel, i think my favorites are:
hotel del luna. gender-swapped version! the female lead is a hedonistic immortal being cursed to run a hotel for ghosts due to her Traumatic Backstory. the male lead is a recent harvard graduate who was born for middle management and is in way, way over his head as he tries to teach her how to balance a checkbook
love between fairy and devil. the female lead is a little naive, very sheltered young flower immortal who accidentally unleashes the devil from a mystical space magic prison. so gorgeous and unexpectedly wonderful
for little mermaid:
my girlfriend is a gumiho draws direct comparisons to this story throughout its plot! it's a romcom/action/lite horror show about a gumiho (fox demon) who ends up transferring her power to a guy who wants to become a stuntman/action movie star. very cute and aggressively 2010 teen movie
i havent seen it yet, but legend of the blue sea is about mermaids and based off of a korean fairytale
for cinderella/rags-to-riches
okay it's not super cinderella-y on the surface, but princess agents has this vibe in a way? but instead of A Fancy Party the heroine instead was given An Awesome Sword, Spy Training, and Several Noblemen with Complexes
continuing to be super liberal with this interpretation, empress ki has the female lead go from smuggler to slave to concubine to empress. work.
shopping king louie is sort of this fairytale in reverse: the rich male lead loses his memories and ends up relying on a poor country girl. very fluffy and cute
100 days my prince is like a joseon version of shopping king louie, but at times darker with the subplots
i think a good chunk of 2000-2010ish kdramas basically lived on this trope
for aladdin i couldnt think of anything direct, so here's sort of a broader "making wishes/deals with immortal powerful fantasy beings":
mystic pop-up bar is about a cursed immortal female lead who runs a pop-up bar and is trying to resolve human being's grudges/grant their wishes by teaming up with a former ghost cop and a regular guy (or is he?) that has a special power of his own
goblin is about a girl who finds out she was destined to be the "goblin's bride" and bring about the death of an immortal cursed general who has been looking for a way to die for several centuries at this point. some wishes/genie-esque dynamics
angel's last mission: love. female lead is a cold, bitter former ballerina who has closed herself off from the world. male lead is her actual guardian angel. not one of my absolute favorites, but i liked the interesting dynamic and the OST is beyond gorgeouuuus
i did not like this drama that much but doom at your service might scratch this itch as well. the female lead is dying from cancer. the male lead is the actual manifestation of doom. would have been SO GOOD if it cut out the subplot and streamlined things a bit more
and these aren't really related to fairytales, but they have a similar vibe:
love and redemption. girl meets boy. boy is in a martial arts sect forbidden to love or marry. girl doesn't understand feelings and is in fact the reincarnated god of war. girl has also sort of killed boy for 9 lifetimes prior to this. boy keeps coming back for more because he thrives on masochism and costume changes. one of my top 3 favorite dramas
goodbye my princess is like someone had all the fairy tale tropes (rebellious princess, meeting while disguised, magical rivers) and then sort of took them in the backyard and shot them. lmao if you want it tragic, go here
craving more dysfunction junction? check out the wolf which starts with some sweet disney tarzan plot and escalates into fucking chaos
river where the moon rises is based on a piece of korean folklore. this one i wanted to like so much (and was enjoying for the first half), but the real-life drama lead to some unfortunate story complications (the show notoriously swapped out its male lead actor midway through airing)
alice in borderland draws a lot of parallels to alice in wonderland. it's survival horror so LMAO not the same vibe as the original story at all, but i figured i'd throw it in here. i have some mixed feelings about the drama, but i definitely binged it all

Favorite Over All the Decades - Week 13, Oct 3 2023
The list of contenders for this poll will update as the results roll in.
1930s - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)
1940s - Fantasia (1940)
1950s - Alice in Wonderland (1951)
1960s - One Hundred and one Dalmatians (1961)
1970s - The Aristocats (1970)
1980s - The Great Mouse Detective (1986)
1990s - Mulan (1998)
2000s - The Emperor’s New Groove (2000)
2010s - Tangled (2010)
2020-2022 - Encanto (2021)
Overall Winner: Mulan (1998)
The NEW 2020s poll, with the winners from 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 as the contenders, will start January 1, 2024.
If the overall 2020s movie winner changes, I will then hold a new decades poll on January 8, 2024.
The 2020s poll from 2024 and onward (lol) will just have the top movie from each year go against the new ones. If we run out of slots available for all the new movies with the previous winners, I will hold a poll with just the new movies, get a winner, and then run it against the old year winners of the 2020s.
If I remember to run this tournament into the 2030s, I will do an Over the Centuries poll comparing the favorite of one century of Disney animation to another :).
My main blog is @deathsmallcaps and my art blog is @patheticbatman if curiosity strikes you.
I’m pretty sure there is another poll going on like this, I’m just running this one for my own amusement, and because I like to think about these in terms of decades.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOFIA!!!!!! i have questions >:3
what’s her favorite color? what are her favorite disney movies? what’s her favorite thing to do with each family member one-on-one? what’s her favorite animal? what does she wanna be when she grows up? what’s her favorite stuffed animal/comfort item? what’s her favorite school subject? does she like video games? does she like sports? and lastly, how old is she when she first goes to andalasia !!!
AH !! 💛
I think her favorite colors are yellow, green, and purple ! Though if she had to pick just one, it would be yellow.
Her favorite Disney movie is Tarzan, and she really likes Kerchak. Her love for him stems from when she was a baby, for some reason his angry face just always made her giggle. and she does Not like that he dies 💔 She also really loves Tarzan because the music reminds her of Giselle, who used to sing You'll Be in my Heart when she was a baby 🤧 I think she's also very fond of Mulan, and the Princess and the Frog. and while it's not a big favorite, she likes Frozen because she knows Robert does not like it, so she can annoy him with Let it Go.
Her favorite thing to do one-on-one with Giselle is just about everything. I think Sofia follows her mother around wherever she goes, and always wants to help, and learn whatever it is Giselle's doing. If her mother is cooking, Sofia is right there beside her (usually in her way (affectionate)) and asks a million questions. Same with sewing, or gardening, or even cleaning. And she's always very proud of herself when she's able to help !! I think she really loves cuddling with Giselle most, though, especially if it involves her mother reading to her, she looooooves her mother's voice (and who doesn't, honestly)
With Robert, her favorite thing is driving him crazy. and I mean that both jokingly, and genuinely, because god, she really loves when he lets out an exasperated sigh, it's her favorite thing in the world. Her dad is the most "let's just do something calm and relaxing" parent, which is nearly impossible for Sofia, because she just can't sit still, but she is very fond of playing sudoku !! Both Robert and Sofia are big math nerds, so from a pretty early age, he was teaching her how to play. They play that, or just really any math related activity, and she loves it. Giving her a math activity is the easiest way to get her to stop bouncing off the walls.
With Morgan, it's arts & crafts related stuff. Which, she does this with Giselle, too, but she really loves doing it with Morgan just because her art style is so different from their mother's. I think they color, and draw, and paint a lot !
She loves gorillas, and when they go to the zoo, she always wants to see them first. But she's a huge bug and reptile girlie at heart, like she loves bugs way too much, and both Robert and Giselle have to remind her constantly that the bugs cannot cuddle in bed with her, that they have to stay outside. She really wants a pet snake, or a lizard, and while Giselle is fine with it, Robert is like "please tell her no, please tell her no, please tell her no, please !!!!!!!!!!!!!" because he can't deny his daughter anything, but he really doesn't want a snake in the house because he knows Sofia will make him hold it and he really doesn't want to 😩
I think she would want to be a fiction writer! She's got such a huge, active imagination, and she's very creative. She's always coming up with wild stories, and eventually she'd start to make coherent plots and characters, and put all those ideas on paper. I actually really love the idea of both her and Pip writing stuff together when they see each other, because he's a great storyteller too!
Her favorite stuffed animal is a little ugly stuffed dog named Fred. I say ugly in the most affectionate way, of course. It was something Robert bought for her before she was even born, so she's had it since she was a baby, and she loves it. She takes him everywhere, and for awhile he, of course, had no name, and was just "doggy", but then, suddenly, she decided his name was Fred. No reason behind it, he's just Fred. or Freddy, sometimes.
Math is definitely Sofia's favorite subject !! I like to think she'd probably join a mathletes type group at some point :]
I go back and forth on whether she (or Morgan) would ever enjoy video games, and I think yes, but the problem is all the games I know are a bit older, so I guess Sofia will just like (kind of) outdated things soidjfsodjsf I think she'd like Cooking Mama !! and she loves Nintendogs, oh and Sims, she loves the Sims !! and Pokemon, of course, we can't forget Pokemon. but also, the idea of her playing Grand Theft Auto, but never the actual storyline, just stealing cars and running people over is kind of hilarious to me, so I think she'd play that too.
Sofia loves soccer, absolutely loves soccer. I think she tears it up on the field, I really do. The coach tells her a few times "you can relax a little, it's okay... you're six, and so is everyone else on the field..." and she's like "no, I literally can't, actually, they have to be eliminated." She inherited Giselle's competitiveness and overall lack of Chill™️
With Andalasia, I think she'd probably start going when she's around four. Giselle was fine with her portal hopping, and really wanted to take her, but Robert was worried about things possibly going wrong. Sofia was still so young, and such a little thing, he didn't want her getting hurt along the way, so he tried pushing it back as much as he could. Once she hit four, though, he knew he couldn't stop her from going, because Sofia was very aware of the portal existing in their backyard, and he knew if he didn't say yes, she'd jump down by herself, which was an even scarier thought. She was, of course, perfectly fine. As always, Robert just overthinks, but hey, someone in this family has to worry !!
I actually bounce back and forth a lot on whether I think Sofia would want to live in Andalasia when she grows up or not. Cause on one hand, she doesn't want to leave the world she grew up in, and there's far too much she'd miss but she also loves the carefree nature of Andalasia, and prefers the overall vibe a lot more than Reality. She knows that living there wouldn't mean never coming back or seeing her family, of course, but it's still a big change, and one she goes back and forth on a lot. Ultimately, I think she would stay in Reality, but I'm torn because I also do think it'd be interesting for her to move to Andalasia permanently, so idk. It's a convo I have with myself quite often.

Disney Social Media Moms Celebration 2015 — VoicePlay live performances
Starting in 2010, Disney World hosted annual gatherings of bloggers that served as a combination of networking opportunities for attendees and promotional events for Disney's resorts. Each year, a couple hundred moms who were active on various social media platforms were invited to bring their families to the park for a long weekend (at a significant discount), connect with each other, and experience the amenities. The 2015 SMMC event took place over Mother's Day weekend, and on their special day, they were treated to a lively performance by VoicePlay.

Parents of young kids are used to their children watching the same movies over and over. But what if you could get the whole story of an animated feature in a fraction of the time? And what if it was sung and acted out for you by five goofy dudes? Well, then you'd get this.
Details:
title: The Story of Rapunzel
original songs / performers: [0:26] "When Will My Life Begin" from Tangled; [1:14] "Mother Knows Best" from Tangled; [2:30] "All About That Bass Prince" by Meghan Trainor (parody); [2:42] "I've Got a Dream" from Tangled; [3:23] "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter; [3:58] "Healing Incantation" from Tangled; [4:50] "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors; [4:58] "You'll Be In My Heart" from Tarzan; [5:22] "When Will My LIfe Begin (reprise 2)" from Tangled
written by: all songs from Tangled by Alan Menken & Glenn Slater; "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor & Kevin Kadish; "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter; "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors, Aaron Accetta, Shep Goodman & James Shelley; "You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins
arranged by: VoicePlay
performance date: 10 May 2015
My favorite bits:
"I'll give you a hint: it's Rapunzel." "I love this story!"
newly beardy Earl playing the ingenue heroine
Eli touching his freshly shaved noggin on the final ♫ "brush my hair" ♫
Tony going full gaslight-girlboss during "Mother Knows Best"
"You're embarrassing me." 😒
Layne getting cast as the first of many animal sidekicks to come, but at least getting some scritches during "I've Got A Dream" 🐴
Geoff replying to being stabbed with a mild "Ooh, that really hurts," then continuing to sing his part while lying on the floor
"Hey, quit horsing around!" Deploying dad jokes at the event for moms before any of them were actually dads.
a lovely final section of pure singing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trivia:
VoicePlay later included songs from Tangled in two videos from their "Aca Top 10" series. An excerpt from "When Will My Life Begin?" was in their "Disney Heroes" countdown, and "Mother Knows Best" was part of "Disney Villains".
"You'll Be In My Heart" from Tarzan was also part of the the "Aca Top 10 — Disney Heroes" video.
Rapunzel and Mother Gothel have more recently appeared in PattyCake's "Princess Academy" and "Villains Lair" series, respectively.

Performing at Disney World provided a perfect opportunity for the guys to bust out their celebration of the company's Broadway adaptations in a live setting. Especially since the event was partly a promotion for the various Disney travel destinations.

title: aca-Disney medley
original songs / performers: [0:09] "Kiss the Girl" by Titus Burgess as Sebastian in The Little Mermaid (2008); "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor; [0:42] "A Whole New World" by Adam Jacobs & Courtney Reed as Aladdin & Jasmine in Aladdin (2014); "Rude" by Magic!; [1:11] "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" by Scott Irby-Ranniar, Geoff Hoyle, & Kajuana Shuford as Simba, Zazu, & Nala in The Lion King (1997); "Trumpets" by Jason Derulo; [1:52] "Seize the Day" by the cast of Newsies (2012); [1:58] "Arabian Nights" by James Monroe Iglehart as the Genie and the cast of Aladdin (2014); "Fireball" by Pitbull, featuring John Ryan
written by: "Kiss the Girl" by Howard Ashman & Alan Menken; "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor & Kevin Kadish; "A Whole New World" by Alan Menken & Tim Rice; "Rude" by Magic!, Adam "Messy" Messinger, & Alex Tanas; "I Just Can't Wait to be King" by Elton John & Tim Rice; "Trumpets" by Jason Derulo & Jon Bellion; "Seize the Day" by Alan Menken & Jack Feldman; "Arabian Nights" by Alan Menken & Tim Rice; "Fireball" by Armando "Pitbull" Perez, "John the Blind" Ryan, Andreas Schuller, Ricky Reed, Joe Spargur, Tom Peyton, & Ilsey Juber
arranged by: VoicePlay
performance date: 10 May 2015
My favorite bits:
Tony and Earl looking like a little gossipy clique in the corner
everyone turning toward Layne to appreciate his first percussion riff
♫ "with quite so little hair" ♫ Wait, that's backwards.
the reverb on Earl's "Roar!" (Good job, Paul.)
Geoff's growl as he hands the lead back to Eli
Layne pulling off that super fast patter live, and Eli taking over the beatboxing while he does it
that big finish
Trivia:
VoicePlay originally created this mashup medley as part of Disney On Broadway's 20th anniversary celebration.
I'm not sure why Eli sang "A Whole New World" instead of Tony on this occasion. It could be that months of touring followed almost immediately by a cruise had left Tony feeling not quite up to belting those big notes on that day.

Any group of people on a long car ride can get on each other's nerves, be it a family with parents and children, or a touring vocal quintet (who are basically a bunch of big kids). And this number is always a hit with audiences of all ages.
Details:

performance date: 10 May 2015
My favorite bits:
the gently animated backdrop
Tony taking a selfie while Earl desperately tries to get Layne to let him in the car
the little "gotta wake up" noises Eli makes
the front seat getting weirdly intense about Enya
♫ "We'll get WILD, wild, okay." ♫
Earl shouting the first "Rock!" with such power, then mumbilng the second with his head tipped so far back and away from the mic
Tony putting his finger so close to Eli's face that he bats it away (As a fellow glasses wearer, I understand that instinct.)
the camera being at the right angle to show Earl letting one go several seconds before the other guys react
Eli and Tony continuing to silently bicker, even from the far corners of the stage
Geoff and Layne leaning away from Earl's extra-long hairspraying
both Earl and Eli asking to change to station one last time, only to be rebuffed
Trivia:
VoicePlay made a professionally filmed version of this medley / skit during the 2014 Sing-Off tour.

hey, i wanted to send this much sooner but i actually got very busy with holiday stuff myself! which reminds me, i was looking online for a specific hercules pin i wanted to buy for myself, and thought of your blog when i came across a really cute pin of young tarzan & terk. it was apparently released in 2021 so i'm glad the movie hasn't been completely forgotten by disney in recent years. makes me wish jane had a classic doll like megara and esmeralda have.
also, yeah, there's quite a few art books for disney and other animation companies (i'm thinking of certain dreamworks books, for example) that are older and/or out of print and have gotten way too pricey now. so i was really grateful they rereleased the mulan one because it's absolutely gorgeous.
ooh that's really cool about the tazan book, i hope you do find a copy you can take apart and scan someday! and i think it's awesome that you've loved tarzan for so long. would you say it's been your favorite disney movie from the first time you saw it, or did it take some time for it to sink in or grow on you? for me, i'd say frozen became one of my favorite movies as soon as i saw it, but beauty and the beast, while i always really liked it, was a movie that grew on me more and more as my tastes changed and i started loving it more than my previous favorites.
-🌟
Hello! No worries, I completely understand life getting hectic.
I hope you were able to find the Hercules pin you wanted!!
I know the Tarzan pin you're talking about, its so cute! I would give anything for a Jane classic doll, would de so nice to see her join Esmeralda and Meg. I'm really hoping for a LE 17" for the 25th anniversary, and there's a slim chance it may happen, but I'm not holding my breath. There's still that annoying copyright issue that gets in the way. According to Steve Thompson (the artist who designs the Disney Store Christmas ornaments every year) Disney has the rights for Tarzan products sold within the parks, which is how the pin was possible. Not sure how that would work with a Jane doll, but at least there's a sliver of hope.
Good news though! Next month is the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, and Steve will be there with 3 pieces, one of which is Tarzan!!! He's revealed the full look at his Atlantis and Treasure Planet pieces, hoping he'll post Tarzan within the week (I will be sure to share it here when he does). Prints of his work will be available at the festival, and they usually show up on ebay too.
I think it would be fair to say I loved Tarzan before I saw it, lol. Back in the day, before the internet became so accessible, we used to find out what the next Disney movie was in the previews on the VHS of the last one. I'll never forget Feb 2, 1999… I raced to the grocery store after school to buy Mulan because I couldn't wait to see it again. In the previews was the first part of the Movie Surfers look at Tarzan Every year those previews would get me so excited for the next movie, but something about Tarzan just hit different. I almost didn't watch Mulan that night, because I kept watching it over and over again. I think I fell in love with Tarzan before I got halfway through that preview, and I seem to love it more every day.
That's so interesting that your 2 fav movies got you in such different ways. What is it about Frozen that made you fall in love with it so fast? What's your favourite thing about Frozen? And same for beauty and the Beast? I also have to say I think it's so neat that BatB is the one that had to grow on you a bit, it kind of fits the theme of the movie.

23 and 24 for the song ask?
23. 3 songs that never fail to get you pumped up
Too many to count! But if I had to choose...
1) "Trashing the Camp" from Tarzan (the movie version or NSYNC's pop version) because I had to put Disney on this list somewhere- "Son of Man" from the same movie is a close second!
2) "Breakfast at Tiffany's"- Deep Blue Something I've loved this song for as long as I can remember, it was one of those songs that never got played much because it had been out for a little bit by the time I was born, but every time it did, it was always a special moment, and I've loved it ever since!
3) "What I Like About You"- The Romantics
24. 3 favorite old songs
All of the songs listed above, plus:
1) "I Want it That Way"- Backstreet Boys
2) "Seven Bridges Road"- The Eagles
3) "Bohemian Rhapsody"- Queen

List your top 10 favorite Disney Villains and why you like them
Ursula (Little Mermaid): Ariel's my favorite Disney Princess, therefore her villan gets top billing. Plus 'Poor Unfortunate Souls' is my shower song. Full stop.
Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty): Woman's allowed to be evil, says 'Hell' in a Disney movie made in the 1950s when we were all clutching our pearls and thought hiding under our desks would protect us from the atom bomb and can turn into a dragon. Nuff said really.
Hades (Hercules): Who doesn't love a sarcastic villain?
Scar (Lion King): He got the hyena's goosteping okay? That automatically puts him in the top four in my book.
Clayton (Tarzan): The OG twist villain! Plus the fact that in the Tarzan books, Clayton and Tarzan are cousins just adds another layer that I wish they could have explored in the movie.
Frollo (Hunchback): The man gave us the song 'Hellfire'. Any villain with a good villain song deserves to be in the top ten.
Lady Tremaine (Cinderella): Honestly one of the few Disney villains who came close to or actually achieved their goal (if you count Cinderella III as canon, which I do because it gave us Kit jumping out a window to get around a loophole). Plus her evil stare in the original Cinderella is terrifying.
Mother Gothel (Tangled): Again, 'Mother Knows Best' is a banger and so is the reprise.
Marina (Little Mermaid 3): Did I like her at first? No. But she grows on you and at the very least she's entertaining.
Gaston (Beauty and the Beast): Belle used to be my favorite Disney Princess, I couldn't not have her villain on my top ten list.

Okay y'all, I see a lot of people listing off various t-word scenes in movies/books, yet they always somehow manage to leave out my favorites?? Like does nobody know they exist or something?
Well anyway. I'm here to fix that.
There is a really good one in Love Comes Softly (the movie, idk if it's the same in the book), and I can't give a timestamp cause I haven't watched it in forever, but it's after Marty has had her baby. A short chase scene, then the magic happens.
The Vow, and oml this movie is a gold mine. A literal. Gold mine. The best ones happen within the first fifteen - twenty minutes (if I'm remembering correctly), and last several seconds. Here's a mind blower - it is openly said that Paige (the girl that receives it) likes to be tickled, so her husband does it often. I was so happy, even though my mom was in the same room, like I could barely contain the euphoric laughs I wanted to release while watching it.
Liar Liar. Yes, the Jim Carrey movie. There's a short one at some point in the beginning (again, haven't watched it in years but these scenes stay in my memory), in which a father pulls out "The Claw" and gives his son a good laugh, and right before the credits roll, it's heavily implied that tickling is happening behind the walls of the house we can no longer see.
RV, and this is pretty similar to Liar Liar, in which case a dad is shown tickling his kid - a little girl - this time. If I recall, it doesn't last more than a couple of seconds, but still cute all the same.
Pixar - A Bug's Life, Toy Story, Up, Inside Out, Ratatouille, Cars 2. If I'm leaving any out, please let me know. Most of these are brief (what one would probably expect) but I wrote them down anyway.
Disney - Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid 3, Alice In Wonderland, Lilo & Stitch, Tarzan 1 and 2, The Rescuers: Down Under, Bridge To Terabithia, etc. This kinda bums me out, as Disney often included tickle scenes in their movies back then, but they don't anymore. At least we have nice ones to look back on!
Annihilation, and this is honestly one of my all-time favorites. There's only one, from what I remember, but it's so good! Basically Natalie Portman and her hubby are laying in bed together, and (I think?) she says some sassy remark and it prompts him to tickle her.
Coraline. So the producers actually included this scene in the trailer, and I was probably eleven the first time I saw it. The moment I did, I was urging my family "yeah, it looks like a good movie! Let's watch it!" so we did. It was awesome. Also, I will shamelessly admit that I want my own Snap Dragons.
My Little Pony. Okay, I know this isn't a movie or book, but it's still worth mentioning, most notably  "The Magic Duel", "Just For Sidekicks", and "It's About Time".
Ride the Wind by Lucia St. Claire Robinson. This book is absolutely full of beautiful tickle scenes, and if you're willing to deal with the tragedy and brutal nature of its characters' culture, you will be pleasantly surprised. My favorite one happens over the halfway mark, but there are plenty to keep you satisfied 'til then :) Just keep in mind that this story is not a light-hearted one, so if you decide to read it, prepare to sob. A lot.
Dragon Tails. This is another children's show that would showcase tickling a lot. In every other episode, I'd say - there was even one about actual tickle monsters, and one that had a flower that tickled you, so that was a gleeful time for my kid self.
This one is exceedingly random and I swear I just remember tidbits because I was like four, but there is a short scene in ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Movie’. I literally have no clue when, or where, or who it happens to, but I know it does happen. That was like half the reason I was so obsessed with that movie when I was little XD
Be More Chill, the recording with the original cast. It’s like a two-second scene but I swear it looks like Michael reaches over and tickles Jeremy, hence why the latter reels away the way he does. I’m unconvinced it’s anything less than that, and maybe that’s just cause I’m obsessed with the idea of Michael being a super physically affectionate (yet still mischievous) lil’ bean, but I digress. This is the video, and the timestamp is roughly 26:12.
Little Monsters. Despite how stupid this movie may be, it was still a large portion of my childhood, and I recently went back and watched it. I rediscovered a very solid tickle scene that I somehow never recalled between Brian and his father. It was very cute and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s around the first half, I think? When Brian stays in Eric’s room the first time.
These are all I can think of at the moment, though I will probably be adding more eventually! It just annoyed me how so many great scenes were being missed out on because nobody remembered/knew about them. So here they are! I hope I informed you~
