(don’t reblog) so i finally found some translations from the official guidebook and i have tHOUGHTS so i’m collecting some of them here and no one can stop me.

- furudate flat out said that goshiki could be a lot strong if he stopped worrying about the way other people see him and if that’s not a cALL OUT i don’t know what is, goshiki with those severe self-esteem issues confirmed. - goshiki’s specialty is less power (though his serves and hits pack a punch) and more finding even the smallest hole in the other team’s blocks, and threading the ball like a needle to score unlikely points. it’s all about that precision, babyyyy. - timeskip goshiki still plans on taking down ushijima, just like kiryuu who is on the same team as goshiki. - shirabu has “way too much respect” for ushijima and treats goshiki “coldly” vbdfjv it’s okay son goshiki isn’t here to steal ushijima’s spot just inherit it B). - osamu is sometimes more stubborn than atsumu (well that’s a terrifying thought). - the person who influenced osamu the most is atsumu 🥺 - osamu doesn’t have faith or trust in atsumu but something more 🥺 - timeskip suna finds the twins’ jokes on social media funny and he’s mad about it fvbdjhfv - THE TWINS ON SOCIAL MEDIA. - furudate’s note about yamaguchi is “surprisingly, he thinks before acting” and i’m fbjBJVDHB THE BACKHANDED COMPLIMENT IS REAL. - apparently, if all the characters were to fight even after the age of 35, iwaizumi would still beat them all. my boy. my little brute who cares too much. (daichi and ennoshita are the other contenders to the titile) (sorry bokuto). - iwaizumi’s parents named him “hajime” so that he would constantly challenge himself and others and i’m emotional about that. - as far as volleyball goes, furudate says that ushijima is still “the strongest” even after the loss to karasuno and the timeskip 🥺 (sorry bokuto x2) - leon is “the type who can survive until the end even in a disaster movie” BJDHBV leon really carrying this whole team’s one (1) braincell and then some more he’s so responsble help me. - ushijima was named “wakatoshi” after his grandfather or great-grandfather and while it makes total sense it still makes me emotional. WHICH GRANDFATHER?? - leon’s parents named him that way so even people from overseas can pronounce his name and that’s very sweet still holding onto my headcanon that his mom is half french. - goshiki’s parents named him “tsutomu” in the hopes of his becoming a thoughtful person. well......... the intentions were there vbjvbjb. - bokuto is the only character in the entire story to not have been influenced by hinata, according to furudate, and honestly, power to him. he’s the real protagonist of the story we knew it all along. - nobody notices konoha’s excellence immediately but everyone likes him my bABY --- - furudate named bokuto “koutarou” with the character for “light” because they wanted him to be someone who illuminates his surroundings and i will never stop thinking about that. - konoha’s first name, “akinori”, is made up of one character of each of his parents’ names. then i remembered i made him an orphan and now i feel bad for giving him that extra weight oops. - both atsumu and osamu’s names were given to them in the hopes of them becoming people who help others. i was going to say welp that failed but actually, osamu works in food, and atsumu’s whole setting philosophy is to help his hitters hit to the best of their ability and now i’m emotional again. - furudate calls atsumu “animal-like” and i fuckin love it.

Do NOT move from the mattress, make one sound, he's on his way into your shared bedroom.

"Didn't you said movements causes headaches?"

Has medicine ready on your bedside at all times with a glass of water. Prepares some good porridge or soup to your liking.

Changes the cold compress whenever he checks on you, or his grandmother would come check on you too-

Yeah, even with you stuck in the sheets, the house is still completely spotless.

Oh and the virus/ germs in your body got scared of not your immune cells but Kita himself. They surrendered to white blood cell-kun.

Conclusion, Kita is a cure, even Kita himself doesn't know.

Tell Atsumu all about it and he'll start crying about how he experienced it in highschool as well.

❥ YACHI

She wanted to try her to best to let you rest the day

Now she wants to do you a favour into doing the chores <3

She kept on reassuring you she was fine with everything, even when she looks completely worn out from the frustrating wiping.

Asks if you need any pills, will go get some along with a few water bottles for the rest of the day.

❥ IWAIZUMI

Has everything under control around the house!

Even goes out repairing any furniture that needs some adjustments, like any loose screws or a squeaky chair. Does it extremely quiet or just outside the house to block out sound, he knows you need some good sleep.

Makes sure you eat a proper meal before taking medicine, his mom heard about your unwellness and sent over chicken soup <333 be grateful

Will put a cold compress over your forehead <3

❥ REON

As a shiratorizawa stan, I'm upset no one talks about our modern Benkei. This one's gnna be wild of me to talk about even though I'm not reon biased.

HES SO SWEET???

He gives out this smile to you like "☺️ it's okay, dear, I can handle it. Please do rest and let me know if you need anything"

It's so comforting 😔❤️ so you slept with no worry about the world.

Until you saw him with a bump over his head💀my man probably slipped and hit his head

❥ YAKU

Kita but a tad bit more aggressive, Kita is more of the passive aggressive one💀

Ah yes some good soup, overcooks the cauliflower and other vegetables to make it soft if you like it that way.

An entire jug of water and a cup by your bedside, he refills it for you everytime he finds it empty.

❥ YAMAMOTO , TANAKA

It just gets more aggressive at this point💀

Would panic if you even walk out the room to get some water or to use the bathroom on your own.

You're not even having problems walking but they'd feel awful for not knowing your needs.

Checks on you every hour.

❥ BOKUTO

He wants to be helpful😭

He asks Akaashi for some good soup recipes, always has extra portions if you want another bowl.

Opts to sweep instead of vacuum to be more quiet.

He put too much softener for the laundry and it ended up smelling too strong, oops-

The way he puts so much effort into filling in for your chores is so endearing, it even made the virus that caused your flu to be in awe.

Virus : "eyo this person's himbo bf is cute, let's leave them alone"

Sickness cured by cuteness approved.

❥ SHIRABU

You might be thinking I'm biased on this one and you're probably right cuz I'm a hardcore Shirabu stan it's not even funny anymore-

But on a serious note, oh you're sick? You're his patient now. Mr Med Student's got his priority 🙄

Knows a lot of shit, would ask if you have trouble with medicine intake cuz some people have a fear of medication drugs.

It's me, I'm the one with a fear of medication drugs, idk when was the last time I successfully swallowed a medium sized pill💀

He's a decent cook, what do you expect from the eldest son of his family with two younger brothers.

Prepared everything you need. Water, meds, porridge, cold compress , fluffy sheets, everything you name it.

Do not fear, trust him, he knows what he's doing.

❥ SAKUSA

Okay manga spoiler, he seems to be the kind of person who mocks people for getting sick💀cuz he low-key petty when he called Shoyou "mr got a fever and got benched" something like that.

Makes sure you're in a clean environment when you're resting, the bed sheets and pillow cases changed right away when you told him you weren't well.

The house has always been clean, due to Sakusa's strict sanitary rules. You probably caught a cold from someone else, or probably weather temperature.

He just sweeped the floors and a few wiping, off he went to cook a proper meal. He made some noodle soup, he used flat noodles ( I'm drooling for some Cantonese flat noodle/kuey tiaw writing this istg-)

Meds and water by your bedside at all times. Cold compress towel soaked each hour to maintain coolness.

semi eita / (gn!) r — angst — spoilers for stzw's jobs

Semi Eita, a boy you became friends with due to your mutual interest for music. You were pretty much a nobody to the whole team, you were just a close friend of Reon, but you were a frequent visitor to their unofficial and official matches that they've recognized you by now.

It all started when they were cleaning up and seeing as how Reon wouldn't be leaving any time soon, you decided to send him a short message that you would be leaving earlier, but someone called you down.

You were a second year at that time and the boy looked to be the team's captain. They thanked you for supporting them even through unofficial matches, for cheering for them along with the band, and coming by to their gym to see how they were doing.

Soon enough, you got the whole team standing in front of you, bowing.

"It's nothing, really. Also, I'm not the only one who frequently comes by!" Was all you replied to them, too abashed by their actions.

From then on, their captain spoke to you more frequently, maybe he was aiming to get you to become the team's manager as you were practically working as one already, yet you weren't. However, you still helped around, despite there being a ton of members in the club that could always pass around the bottles and towels.

It was only in the second half of your second year did you and Semi start speaking, through Reon. The two of you went to hang out at an arcade, then proceeded to stop by at a music store as the ash-blond was looking for new guitar strings, saying his broke... again.

From there did you start seeing each other more frequently. Mainly to talk about music, what instruments either of you play and what you've composed, or tried composing.

Currently, it's a free period. No student were to leave the school premises yet, but they were free to roam around the school until the next hour comes by. Subconsciously, you walked out of your own classroom before heading to Semi's.

"Here for Semi again?" One of his classmates ask, tease behind their voice, but you made no effort to retort and only nodded before they yelled for him to stop what he was doing as you were around.

You thought his eyes lit up for a moment when his landed on yours, but you shook it off, thinking it was just your imagination. Soon after, Semi had his stuff stuffed back in his bag before bringing his acoustic guitar this time.

Inside the seemingly abandoned small music room inside the big campus of Shiratorizawa, there on the hardwood floors did you and a certain ash-blonde sat.

He says he has a song he wants to play, specifically to you, he says. "It has lyrics!" He added, the smile on his face and the mere thought of this boy you've learned to love, sing to you made your heart go haywire, that it starts beating so fast and pumping too much blood that you think you might as well die right now from... too much blood? Or rather, becaude of Semi Eita.

When he picks up the instrument, your heart almost leaped out of your chest. He started strumming, positioning his fingers on chords, before singing the words in the song. It was a nice song, one that reminds you of that feeling you get around somebody you hold romantic feelings for and make you feel safe.

The song could also make you think of drinking coffee and eating sweets while the sky is pouring, while watching TV, and it also reminds you of the color sage green. All in all, it had a nice feel to it.

About a minute or two passed before a brief silence followed before, "So, what do you think? It's made for you, by the way!" He says, his voice cracking in the slightest and he even looks away for a few seconds that had you jumping to conclusions.

He would never like me, he only thinks of me as a friend, you remind yourself. Although you want to feel everything for this boy, you don't want to risk your heart being shattered.

A light chuckle came after that brief silence, "It was good– great, actually. It has a nice feel to it, makes me think of someone too." You say,

His ears perked at that last statement and he curiously asks, "Who?"

"Why would I tell you?" Immediately followed, which only received a groan from the ash-blond. Another chuckle followed before the subject changed and now, you were trying to create another composition with him.

Standing at the front of everybody else, you stood with your fellow friends from the high school volleyball team. With the exception of two boys, who were Yamagata and Ushijima as they had just finished a game and were now resting in their homes, waiting for the concert to finish and your recording so that they could watch it too.

Semi, accompanying three other people on stage who were his band's members, they played their new songs. Often receiving screams when a favorite part plays or with people singing along to the songs.

Soon, one last song came up.

It was that song.

One that he composed specifically for you, he even said it himself. For you. This time, he sang at a slower pace unlike its initial pacing, and a few parts had different lyrics and chords now, you thought, or maybe that was because you've only heard this song a few couple of times and the last was during your graduation.

It soon came to an end and unbeknownst to you, tears streamed down your face. You were reminded that, you really did love this boy so much that it hurt just thinking about him and his beautiful face.

A smile adorned his face, a beautiful smile that earned screams from his fans once more, he looks to your direction and puts the microphone near his lips to say,

"This song was dedicated to someone, someone I loved, ever since I met them."

Is this finally that day? Silly thoughts clouded your head.

"I loved so much to the point it made my heart clench just thinking about them and their pretty ass face."

You could hear Tendou chuckle even while the vicinity was filled with screams. You look at him to see him smile at you, with a hint of tease.

Guess like he has always known about it, you thought.

"But now, this song is dedicated to someone else. While singing this composition, I didn't think of them, but I thought of her."

There goes your heart.

Your heart was beating at a deadly pace, even as he spoke, as he looked to your direction, as he moved. All of that, yet the only thing that followed for you was pain. That heartbreak you were dreading ever since your eyes first landed on Semi Eita, the boy you learned to love so dearly, even after all these years, never once had it wavered.

He said he loved you before, maybe you should have never hesitated and tried to pursue him.

If only you could rewind the time.

Big Sister Kawanishi

⸺ headcanons and a drabble

It has come to my attention that Taichi has a big sister, thank you @whitesoda. With my lifelong experience as a little sister, I bring you some headcanons and a little story (1.7k) about how the VBC met Kawanishi’s sister for the first time...

Taichi’s sister is about 5-6 years older than him which means that she’s a grown-ass lady

also means that she has already moved out of their parents’ home for university

let me tell you something

She.

Is.

Gorgeous.

and she knows it

in high school, used people who she knew they had a crush on her for things like giving her and her friends rides, buying her food and drinks, sharing their homework with her, etc.

because why waste the power her looks have given her

not uncommon for her to be approached by modeling scouts while strolling through the shopping district

but she always declined or rather her parents because school always come first

however, after moving out where her parents don’t have as much control over her as they used to, it didn’t take that long to get another opportunity for some quick modeling gigs which she gladly accepted

it was short-lived financial independence because her lectures kept her more than busy, so she immediately quit after the first week of lectures

her major? Economics. Yes, a mean-heavy field of study but she cannot deny her love for mathematics. Also, understanding and researching the complexity of economic relationships, discussing macroeconomic aspects, and analyzing decision-making behavior, markets and prices at a microeconomic level intrigue her

you guessed it, Dateko alumni

back then, their age difference never posed a problem. You saw her and Taichi playing together at home, going to the playground, playing with the other kids in the neighborhood where age didn’t matter anyway

and yet, as the years go by, their age difference became more evident when Taichi entered elementary school because around that time is when puberty hit his then 13-year-old sister and boiii was it an annoying and stressful time for the entire family

not answering her phone but making so many phone calls with her cellphone that her monthly bill added up to 7,500 Yen, sneaking out to parties and not coming home until 2 am, drinking, smoking, keeping her relationships a not very well guarded secret, bleaching her hair to a color you achieve with thick Asian hair after one session (toner? in 2005? AHAHAHAHAHA good one)

you can already imagine all the fights between her and their parents

they actually feared that Taichi could become another textbook example of a teenage rebel... for absolutely no reason haha

this image of the older sibling taking care and protecting their little one? Yeah no, not in this household

it was literally embarrassing for her to be seen with her little brother which little Taichi, who used to be the personification of sunshine and full of life energy as a child, never understood, even though her friends always loved it when little Taichi came into her bedroom

their relationship became more distant after Taichi’s 14th birthday when he slowly became... Taichi. Very kept to himself, not very talkative, something very annoying to his sister who is the complete opposite of him: very outgoing, always has to add her 2 cents, full of temper, loves to be the center of attention

and yet, after spending some time living on her own and making it until the last year of her bachelor’s program, his sister finally has her life under control and for a hold or herself

she became a mature lady who also puts effort into rebuilding her relationship with her little brother which Taichi notices

well, as good as she can: now that both of them don’t live at their parent’s home anymore, it’s kind of difficult

but when it’s a weekend where she can make it back home, she tries to take the earliest train in the morning, just after the sun starts to rise to get the most out of her few free days

while everyone is still out for work and school, she cleans the house, runs errands, and cooks food before her parents come home in the afternoon

which means that the family car is available in the evening

time for a detour...

“So, who wants ice cream? Satori’s treat!” announces Yamagata. It’s Friday and they just finished their daily training.

“Hey!” The redhead dramatically turns around. “I paid last time!” he protests.

“Yeah but you ‘forgot’ to bring your wallet, so I had to fill in, remember?” explains Semi mildly irritated.

“Oh, I totally forgot!” The slap to his forehead loudly echoes across the locker room. “Thank you for your kindness, Eitan~” he sings and flutters his eyelids.

“Another nickname?” Semi shoots a clearly annoyed glance at his friend but he is already skipping to the shower room.

The underclassmen are trying their hardest to stifle their giggle, even though Semi or the other seniors wouldn’t react negatively. They do, however, pack their things without showering since it takes too long to wait for all the third-graders to finish first and just go take a quick shower in the communal shower a few hundred meters away from the locker room.

“So no ice cream for you guys?” asks Reon.

All of the underclassmen politely decline the invitation, mostly because they have to catch the train to go home. It’s already 5.40 pm. In the end, it was only the third graders who want to go out, much to Tendou's wallet’s joy.

“You’re going home too, right, Taichi?”Ushijima asks before he pulls his jersey over his head and throws it into the laundry basket near the entrance to the showers. No manager means that they have to take care of washing their jerseys, bibs, and jackets themselves.

“Uh, yes...” Kawanishi stammers, wondering how he’d know.

Seeing his confused expression, Ushijima explains, “Well, I have noticed that you’ve been going home a lot more frequently in the last few weeks.” He takes another towel out of his locker and looks over to his teammates. “Then have a nice weekend,” he wishes before vanishing behind the bathroom doors as well. With the other boys, Kawanishi bids his farewell.

“BUAHAHAHA!! Eita, you always amaze me with your fashion sense!” Tendou throws back his head and lets out a loud laugh.

“Shut up,” Semi mutters. After club activities, they all went to their dorms to quickly change out of their uniform. I mean, who wants to go out in their school uniform on a Friday evening?

“Well, it’s too late to change anyway–“

“Hey!”

“–so we should get going now. To the train station!” Tendou announces, posing with one hand on his hip and dramatically pointing to the sky until he notices that the others already went ahead of him. “Hey! Wait for me!”

“Isn’t that Taichi over there at the gate?” Yamagata asks. There’s indeed a tall figure, standing at the gates with a backpack slung over one shoulder.

“It is. We should call for him, so we can go together to the train station,” Ushijima proposes.

The others agree and nod. Yamagata raises his hand to wave at him and yelled, “Hey Taichi! Let’s–” but suddenly stops in his tracks.

All of them notice and turn around. “Hayato? What is it?” Semi asks, confused. No answer. He even waves his hand in front of his face but no reaction. Mouth still wide agape, eyes fixed on whatever turned him into a statue. Instead of waiting for a response they’d probably never get, the boys follow his gaze and turn around. And, oh boy, you wish you were here.

The sight in front of them triggers a different reaction in each and every one of them. If it were possible, Yamagata’s jaw would drop to the ground. Semi chokes on his own saliva and starts to cough while Reon pats him on his back out of reflex. However, his gaze is still fixed on the mysterious woman, standing next to their underclassman. Even Ushijima is floored by her beauty and just stands there with his eyes widened. Tendou is the only one who interrupts their silence with a quiet “Holy shit...”

The woman may look short at first but considering that she’s standing next to Taichi, she must be at least 180 cm. Her brownish strawberry blonde hair is curled into big locks that are so healthy and shiny that you can see it reflecting the sun from a mile away. She obviously spent some time on her looks. Her makeup was minimized to eyeliner, mascara, and bright cherry-red lipstick. You can see the silver jewelry sparkling under her hair when she moves around. Just as red as her lipstick is her thin bomber jacket that loosely hangs from her shoulders, exposing the black ribbed top that really emphasizes her... bosom. The tight skinny jeans also compliment her figure and perfectly hug her curves.

With a cheeky grin on her face, she plays with the car keys and talks to Taichi who, on the other hand, looks rather annoyed and nervous as if he’s about to get caught for something.

“Why are you here?”

“What? Can’t I pick up my little brother, so we can drive home together?” she chuckles. She’s fully aware of the glances from the girls and boys who walk past them, so does Taichi. She fully enjoys all the attention but doesn’t show it. Only someone who lived with her for over 10 years under the same roof, knows better.

However, both of them heard Yamagata calling for him, so they interrupt their conversation and look at Taichi’s teammates. It is Ushijima who first gets a grip of himself.

“Walk.”

Out of every person in this world, why them?

If avoidable, Taichi prefers not to be the center of attention but with a literal light buoy next to him, this proves to be slightly difficult.

The closer the seniors get to the couple, the clearer they get to see her beauty, taking away their breath. The woman turns her cheeky grin into a warm smile.

“Well, hey! Do you know Taichi?”

Semi, Reon, Tendou, and Yamagata can only stammer out a shy “hey” and nervous laugh.

“Hello. We play in the same team as Taichi. Nice to meet you.” They’re so glad that they have Ushijima speaking for them.

“Oh yeah, volleyball! It is my pleasure. I’m Taichi’s older sister. Thank you for taking care of him. I hope he doesn’t cause you any trouble.” Her laugh makes the legs of four of the five upperclassmen weak like jello.

It is as if their brains are all connected because, at this moment, they only have one thought:

That is Taichi’s sister? They’re related?!

The faint hint of shock in their faces does not escape Taichi’s notice.

Great. Now I’m the guy with the hot sister. I don’t even wanna know what they’re thinking right now...

“Not at all,” Ushijima responds calmly. Apparently, he has overcome the initial shock of meeting a literal model in real life.

“Well, we don't want to hold you up any longer, so we’ll get going. Maybe I can make it to your next game!”

“We look forward to seeing you.”

She waves them goodbye and walks off the school grounds with Taichi following her closely after he nods his teammates goodbye who absentmindedly wave back, except for Ushijima.

The siblings haven’t even gone off a few meters when the sister said a bit too loud, “Let’s go, Taipi. I parked the car a few streets away from here.”

As soon as she finished her first sentence, her brother speeds up to her. When looking up, she sees Taichi, giving her the evil eye. He slightly bends down and says with a very calm voice, “I will tell mom how you always took money out of her purse for you know what.”

You might think that wouldn’t scare any grown-ass adult who already moved out and lives on her own, right? Well... not if you need the family car to go out that night.

“I’ll give you 1,000 Yen.”

A snobbish laugh escapes Taichi’s mouth.

“2,000 Yen.”

Taichi proceeds to take out his phone to dial their mom’s number.

“What do you need so much money for?! I need it to survive, you know?” she argues.

“So I don’t live on my own either?”

“What are you talking about?! Everything is paid for you!”

“And dad doesn’t pay the rent of your apartment and gives you money for food or what?”

In defeat, his sister clicks her tongue and takes 2,000 Yen out of her purse which Taichi gladly accepts.

“If you pull off another move like that from before, it’ll be double the amount,” he adds.

She just rolls her eyes. “Whatever. Got enough money.”

After they finally arrive at the parking lot, they get into the car. As they drive off, Taichi’s stomach rumbles.

“What’s for dinner?”

“Your favorite food, Sukiyaki. Thought I’d do something nice for you but I guess that was the last time,” she jokes.

She takes her eyes off the road and looks over to the passenger seat. Eyebrow raised, she asks, “What? Do they bully you? Do you want me to do something? I know some–“

“No, it’s just normal teasing under guys,” he interrupts. He’s so tired from training that he’s leaning his head against the window with his eyes closed. He’s not much of a big eater but after a training session under Coach Washijo, his body is always craving carbs.

His sister looks at him a bit longer, making sure he’s telling her the truth. “Okay. But if one of them ever starts anything, tell me.”

No answer. Taichi has already dozed off. But he doesn’t need to hear that: he knows that his sister will be there for him when times are tough.

Meanwhile, at the train station, the four boys have just passed the gates and are heading to their platform. They haven’t spoken a word since the siblings left.

Semi is the first one to speak, “Taichi’s sister, uh... she’s really... beautiful.”

“Hot,” corrects Yamagata.

“Flaming hot,” adds Tendou.

“Cheeto.” That deserves Yamagata a finger gun snap from Tendou.

“You guys think Taichi’s adopted?”

Semi furrows his eyebrows in confusion. “What are you talking about? They obviously look related!”

“In which universe, Eita?” Tendou objects. “They don’t look related at all. She’s way too hot! You think so too, right, Wakatoshi?” Tendou turns to their captain who has been quietly letting his friends have their discussion.

Everyone stops. They slowly recall the moment they caught sight of Taichi’s sister: even Ushijima turned into a pillar of salt. The image of their rather stoic friend, who is obviously lacking emotional intelligence and apparently any emotion at all, acting like a normal high school student? Crushing on someone and losing his coolness?

“She’s...” He hesitates. A very interesting sign of which everyone takes note. All of them take one step forward, eagerly waiting for his response. Their intense stares urge Ushijima to answer.

“They have the same nose.”

Silence, followed by a common loud sigh.

“There’s our train.” Ushijima is the first walk towards the white line.

Disappointed, they all follow him to the door of the approaching train.

Somehow, the moment they enter the train wagon, everyone knows that this would be the only time they’d ever speak about Taichi’s sister.

Af if telepathically connected, they make a pact in their head with each other to never speak about her again, not only to prevent an awkward atmosphere during club activities next week but also to save their face which they definitely lost while staring at their underclassman’s sister like some brainless Neanderthals right in front of said underclassman.

People always talk about the Shiratorizawa boys all having a small crush on Ushijima (which I agree) but rarely about the team with Semi. Like cmon... you can’t tell me that they wouldn’t simp for drop-dead-gorgeous Semi.

Semi probably started off his time in Shiratorizawa as averagely build for someone who plays volleyball while also having a very pretty face but due to their Spartan training, he muscled up. It wasn’t until his second year when Shirabu first showed up to Shiratorizawa and became competition that Semi started working extra hard and had his work pay off. By the half of his second year, he was the third strongest student in the team, Reon and Ushijima being stronger.

Now imagine this very hot dude with some cool hair wearing makeup. Semi wears eyeliner when he goes out from time to time and he knows how to do other sorts of makeup (something he and Kawanishi bond over). Tendou would absolutely love seeing him wear makeup, Hayato could stare at him for hours (makeup or no makeup), Reon tries to make conversation with him as much as possible and use that as an excuse to look at him that much, Kawanishi has no shame and will downright call Semi hot, Shirabu wouldn’t admit shit but if he so happens to stare at Semi while he isn’t looking then that’s his problem, and Ushijima along with Goshiki compliment Semi.

Whenever Semi practices his serves on Hayato, Shirabu would get distracted and stare. It might not look like he’s staring at anything specific but if you try hard enough to follow his line of sight you’ll see him staring at either his arms or thighs. If Hayato happens to be on Semi’s team, he sometimes gets distracted just enjoying the view (Semi ofc) and gets yelled at. Tendou , being Semi’s roommate, often just plops down on top of Semi and cuddles with him. Sometimes you just gotta have your shorter, beefy best friend cuddle you and enjoy it yk. Reon only has a small crush on him that’s all so he’s pretty normal while Goshiki mostly just had admiration for him and happens to think that he’s very pretty. Ushijima doesn’t like Semi as much as the others do like THAT so it’s not a big deal to him or anything.

Tendou and Yamagata also like to glare daggers at people who dare flirt with Semi and if the victim has enough guts to stick around after seeing the way those two are planning his murder then they’re in for a ride. Shirabu interrupts Semi and whoever is flirting with him usually by lightly insulting him and distracting him but he doesn’t do it often because “no I don’t like Semi what are you talking about” while Kawanishi’s chill ass just swings his arm around Semi’s shoulders and ask for help with things knowing that Semi will automatically give him attention. Both Shirabu and Kawanishi have, however, turned their heads to face the person who was talking to Semi once they were dragging him away just to look that person in the eye and make a slitting-throat motion with their hands. Its a mystery how people still have the guts to try and flirt with Semi after the shit those four have pulled.

Went plant shopping yesterday and-

Instant thought: Farmer's market AU

Goshiki's a florist and has a little plant stall. He sells lots of plants, hydrangeas, japanese maple, and bamboo. Primarily focuses on flowers. Most people come for his flowering bonsai trees. He also has tea leaves available, matcha, gyokuro, sencha, and others.

Tendou still makes chocolate but also several other sweets. He always has a new flavor every two weeks. Some people travel far for his goodies, like that cute blonde teacher who always comes and buys out all his spicy chocolates.

Ushijima runs a farm, are you surprised? He has a bunch of animals but at the market, he sells fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, and jerky. Sometimes he brings fish and fermented foods. His kimchi and pickled daikons are amazing.

Kawanishi has a saké stall, he's known for his plethora of different flavors, yuzu, apple, peach, raspberry, and pear. He actually makes the best plum saké in Miyagi and has been slowly introducing mead to his customers.

Semi is that musician always playing close to the market, he's a staple at this point and it's a great way for him to get his music out there and make connections. The guys all help by talking about Semi's music and encouraging people to book Semi for events.

Shirabu is a papermaker, it's a family business, but he adds his own twist by folding origami animals and boxes. He also makes interesting paper color combinations and personalized stamps. He is known for his custom bookbinding.

Hayato is the local woodworker, it's also his family's business and has been for years, but something about his furniture is just beyond beautiful. He specializes in making intricate carvings and secret compartments.

Reon has a bakery, donuts and hand pies are his focus, but he makes several other baked goodies and even jam. His goods are always made with ingredients from local folks. He collaborates with Tendou to make chocolate bread, it's a huge hit. I need this. Let me have this.

(group headcanons: names and honorifics)

yamaguchi

tends to be pretty thorough with name conventions and honorifics. mostly uses the honorific “-san”, including with people his own age, but can be somewhat flexible and drop suffixes entirely once he grows comfortable enough (ie: hinata & kageyama). exceptionally lucky people get a nickname (ie: “tsukki”). he is easily influenced by how other people call each other and unconsciously picks up on nicknames (ie: ‘daichi-san’ instead of ‘sawamura-san’). very used to people calling him “yamaguchi-kun” or just “yamaguchi”, and doesn’t mind either - “tadashi” becomes a little more common once he starts college.

kuroo

shamelessly veers towards familiarity. doesn’t tend to use honorifics a lot except with teachers (and superiors once he enters active life) or to more or less affectionately poke fun at people (ie: “yaku-kun”/”yakkun”, “akaashi-kun”, “suga-chan”, “chibi-chan”). some people get the surname-only treatment (kai, yamamoto, bokuto, akaashi...), some have their surname butchered or are unlucky enough to get nicknames that mostly serve a teasing purpose (”sa’amura”, “tsukki”), some he allows himself enough familiarity to be on a first-name basis (kenma, lev). with kuroo, anything goes - but mostly on his own terms and regardless of what other people want. other students mostly call him by his last name “kuroo-san”, “kuroo-kun”, “kuroo” for his teammates), with the occasional “kuro” by mistake or by design, and “tetsurô” is mostly reserved for his coaches and significant other. some childhood friends and kenma’s parents used to call him “tetsu-kun” (or tekkun idk if the translation mistranslated or not), and... let’s say that if you want to get back at him for anything, it’s a sure way of making him twitch without fail.

iwaizumi

surname-only basis for almost everyone regardless of gender. he refuses to be bothered with honorifics and doesn’t see the point when it comes to people his own age - although he will scrupulously use “ -senpai” with upperclassmen or more senior professionals in his field. he doesn’t use first names unless it is for his significant other, and he never uses nicknames unless it’s to insult oikawa. he is fairly flexible with how other people call him, as long as it comes from a place of respect and not mockery. “iwaizumi”, “iwa”, and “hajime” are all fine, and he doesn’t mind whether or not people use “ -san” or “-senpai”. oikawa is the only person who is allowed to use “iwa-chan” - anyone else gets their head bitten off.

atsumu

the definition of respect is dead. EVERYONE gets some kind of first name basis or nickname/diminutive combination, regardless of the difference in age, experience, or status. he plays it off as a friendly thing, appending “ -kun” to everyone he meets (or “-chan” depending on gender), but more often than not, it comes across as a little condescending, especially for people he barely knows (”shoyo-kun”, “tobio-kun”, “omi-kun”...). over time though, as and if friendships develop, it takes on a more sincere and warm ring (”aran-kun”). he likes to make up nicknames and play on sounds (”omi-omi”, “bokkun”) and to use already existing nicknames (”ushiwaka”). kita is the only person he respects and fears enough to address properly (”kita-san”). most people call him atsumu to differentiate him from osamu - once they go their separate ways, being called “miya” remains a weird feeling, and he is quick to prompt the use of his given name. he doesn’t mind nicknames (”tsumu” wa created by osamu, and got picked up by other people; and bokuto’s “tsum-tsum” is something he’s quickly stopped fighting against. too tiresome).

ushijima

last name basis for everyone. upperclassmen, underclassmen, superiors at work if he had any, it is as though ushijima never even learnt what honorifics were. he doesn’t question it, and no one yet has really dared question him. the only exceptions to the rule would be his teachers and coaches, who he calls by their titles without adding their name before (he always says “coach” rather than “coach washijo” - assumign washijo will obviously know he’s addressing him). even a significant other will have to wait or actively remind him that it’s okay to move onto a first name basis. as his professional career progresses and he moves overseas, being more exposed to first name usage in Europe, he subconsciously becomes a bit more relaxed about it, especially around teammates. as for himself - he is used to being called many different things and isn’t too fussed about what people decide to call him. his surname is fine, and he doesn’t mind teammates using his first name, or competitors using his “ushiwaka” nickname... as long as his name/surname/nickname is used with basic respect (”ushiwaka-chan” doesn’t and will never receive his stamp of approval). as for the “waka-kun” some of the girls at school use............ he has decided that diplomatically asking them to stop would be too much effort and work compared to the desired result.

konoha

upon first meetings, konoha tends to stick to the conventional honorifics expected of the situation and to be polite... but he has a marked tendency to drop them pretty fast - as soon he and his interlocutor move from having just met to friendly acquaintances. it’s a friendly familiarity he lends to almost everyone, without thinking too much on it. he’ll happily use first names if invited to, and diminutives like “saru” out of convenience and connivence. as for him... for some reason, no one except his siblings ever use his first name - to the point that it is permissible to wonder if his teammates even remember he has one. sometimes he’d almost forget too - call him “akinori”, and watch as he reacts a bit too late with an expression of pure surprise on his face like he just remembered that “oh wait, that’s me??”. absolutely loves being called “senpai”, but will never ask it from an underclassmen - prefers when it comes to them naturally.

oohira

first name? first name. but somehow, leon seems to have a weird superpower, that makes it sound perfectly acceptable and not at all familiar or rude. his teammates have tried explaining it in their own way, saying that leon has an aura, an air about him that ease those around him into comfortable and respectful familiarity, making it all too easy to say ‘yes’ when after a little while of knowing him, he offers a new friend to just call him leon, and if it’s okay if he uses their first name too. easy as that. it’s just... easier? more convenient? more cordial? and nobody really questions it, because nobody dislikes it, really. very few people still call him by his surname, even among his underclassmen - the most formal way he is addressed as is “leon-san”... except for shirabu who apparently stubbornly sticks to “oohira-san”. leon doesn’t mind that either.

bokuto

cut from the same cloth as kuroo and atsumu - but friendlier. honorifics never made it to his pea brain, and everyone is at the very least on a surname-only basis with him, regardless of age, gender or status. very prompt to using nicknames (”megane-kun”, "ushiwaka”) and diminutives just because he likes the sound of it, rather than as an indicator of actual closeness (”yukippe”, “tsum-tsum”, “myaa-sam”). also has a noted tendency to mispronounce names (”sa’amura”, “akashi”, “the myaa twins/the myans”, “tsukishibalablah” thank you english dub for my life). as for him - with a name as iconic and memorable as “bokuto”, there aren’t many people to call him anything else. only his family call him “koutarou” (and kou-chan when his sisters wants to embarrass him in front of his friends).

goshiki

model student in every regard on that front. very scrupulous in using proper naming conventions, and considers earning to right to switch to less formal honorifics and naming agreements a privilege granted from one person to another. as the youngest player on shiratorizawa’s volleyball team, this is doubly important to him - although the team spirit and regular encouragements from his teammates make him flip flop between “ -senpai” and “ -san” most of the time. he’s used to being called “goshiki” or “goshiki-kun” at school, with the exception of his teammates (and incidentally upperclassmen) using his given name. he actually likes it when they call him “tsutomu” rather than “goshiki” - it makes him feel accepted and like they really see him as an equal rather than the baby of team... even though he’d rather be kicked off the team than admit it out loud. (that’s a lie. please don’t kick him off the team.)

old people get old people privileges. nekomata grants himself some leeway with naming conventions because he knows he tends to be the oldest person in the room anyway - and the one who receives the most deference. he tries not to abuse it too much: keishin ukai gets the first name treatment because using his surname would be confusing (and he’s known him since he was a child let’s be real); takeda gets the “sensei” treatment out of sincere respect. he calls all of his students, current and former, by their first names. as for him, naturally, “nekomata-sensei” is what he hears the most, and “yasufumi” what he hears the least, these days.

agnès

cautiously polite. honorifics don’t necessarily come naturally to her, but she forces herself a little bit to avoid creating unnecessary frictions. pretty much everyone outside of her team gets a polite and somewhat distant “ -san” or “ -senpai”, while “ -kun” and “ -chan” feel too... infantilising to her taste (as a very old and mature 17 year-old of course). her teammates are the exceptions to the rule since she let herself be roped into calling them by their given names for the most part, though honorifics are still used with her upperclassmen on the team. between “ozu” and “agnès”, she tends to prefer the former - because it’s less mispronounced, because it doesn’t draw attention to the fact that one of her parents is from abroad... but people rarely listen to her. especially her more unruly teammates (who get a free pass anyway).
